Biomechanical and Morphometric Evaluation of a Strontium-Incorporated Implant and Four Commercially Available Implants: A Study in Rabbits

Abstract:Purpose: Strontium has shown a positive effect on osseointegration in experiments. This study compared surface characterization and osseointegration of a strontium-incorporated implant with four commercial implants with different surface treatments. Materials and Methods: A strontium-oxide layer was created by hydrothermal treatment on the surface of the implant (SLA-Sr). Surface characterizations were observed using a scanning electron microscope, three-dimensional (3D) optical microscope, and x-ray energy-dispersive spectrometry. Implants of different surface treatments including resorbable blasting media (RBM), sandblasting with large grit and acid etching (SLA-1, SLA-2), sandblasting and thermal acid etching (STA), and SLA-Sr were implanted into the proximal tibiae and femoral condyles of rabbits. Biologic effects were evaluated by removal torque testing and histomorphometric analysis after 3, 6, and 12 weeks of implantation. Results: Nanostructures were observed on the surface of SLA-Sr and STA. Calcium (Ca) was detected on the surface of RBM. Sr was detected on the surface of SLA-Sr. SLA-1 and STA had greater surface roughness than SLA-2, SLA-Sr, and RBM (P < .05). In vivo, SLA-Sr achieved better removal torque value (RTV) than that of RBM and SLA-2 at 3 weeks (P < .05), as well as increased bone area ratio (BA%) in cortical bone compared with RBM at 3 weeks (P < .05). STA showed higher bone-to-implant contact ratio (BIC%) in cortical bone than RBM at 3 and 6 weeks (P < .05). Compared with RBM, SLA-1 had better RTV at 6 weeks and higher BIC% in cortical bone at 12 weeks (P < .05). Conclusion: In vivo, compared with SLA-2 and RBM, the implant with the strontium-oxide layer displayed slight advantages in new bone formation and osseointegration in the early healing stage. In the later osseointegration stage, the results of SLA-Sr were comparable with other implants.
Development of an Angular Stiffness Sensor to Measure Dental Implant Stability In Vitro

Abstract:This investigation aims to develop an angular stiffness sensor intended for measuring dental implant stability in bone. The sensor hardware included a tiny eccentric motor and an accelerometer to measure a flex constant of an implant with its abutment. The sensor software included a mechanics-based model to convert the flex constant to angular stiffness at the implant/abutment junction to indicate the stability. The sensor's accuracy and effectiveness are demonstrated through use of Sawbones slab models that mimic a mandibular premolar section. The models include a Branemark Mk III implant inserted into Sawbones slabs of 5 different densities with a locator abutment. An incremental insertion torque was first recorded while the implant was placed in the Sawbones models. Then benchtop experiments were conducted to measure resonance frequencies and angular stiffness. Results indicated that angular stiffness increased with Sawbones density, showing high correlation with the measured resonance frequency (R=0.977) and the incremental insertion torque (R=0.959). Finally, accuracy of the angular stiffness sensor is calibrated in light of the resonance frequency. Angular stiffness scores 99% and 95% accuracy for Sawbones models mimicking medium cancellous bones with and without a cortical layer, respectively.

Comparison of implant stability measurements between a resonance frequency analysis device and a modified damping capacity analysis device: an in vitro study

Abstract:PURPOSE: A stability-measuring device that utilizes damping capacity analysis (DCA) has recently been introduced in the field of dental implantology. This study aimed to evaluate the sensitivity and reliability of this device by measuring the implant stability of ex vivo samples in comparison with a resonance frequency analysis (RFA) device.METHODS: Six implant beds were prepared in porcine ribs using 3 different drilling protocols to simulate various implant stability conditions. Thirty-six pork ribs and 216 bone-level implants measuring 10 mm in height were used. The implant beds were prepared using 1 of the following 3 drilling protocols: 10-mm drilling depth with a 3.5-mm-diameter twist drill, 5-mm drilling depth with a 4.0-mm-diameter twist drill, and 10-mm drilling depth with a 4.0-mm-diameter twist drill. The first 108 implants were external-connection implants 4.0 mm in diameter, while the other 108 implants were internal-connection implants 4.3 mm in diameter. The peak insertion torque (PIT) during implant placement, the stability values obtained with DCA and RFA devices after implant placement, and the peak removal torque (PRT) during implant removal were measured.RESULTS: The intraclass correlation coefficients (ICCs) of the implant stability quotient (ISQ) results obtained using the RFA device at the medial, distal, ventral, and dorsal points were 0.997, 0.994, 0.994, and 0.998, respectively. The ICCs of the implant stability test (IST) results obtained using the DCA device at the corresponding locations were 0.972, 0.975, 0.974, and 0.976, respectively. Logarithmic relationships between PIT and IST, PIT and ISQ, PRT and IST, and PRT and ISQ were observed. The mean absolute difference between the ISQ and IST values on a Bland-Altman plot was -6.76 (-25.05 to 11.53, P<0.05).CONCLUSIONS: Within the limits of ex vivo studies, measurements made using the RFA and DCA devices were found to be correlated under a variety of stability conditions.

Abstract:BACKGROUND: Different methods have been proposed to investigate the fixation stability of dental implants, each of which has its limitations. Among these methods, resonance frequency analysis (RFA) has been widely utilized to measure dental implant stability. This study aimed to assess dental implants with two non-destructive RFA and acoustic modal analysis (AMA) validated with a finite element simulation of the fundamental natural frequency (NF) of the bone analog-implant structure.MATERIAL AND METHODS: A total number of 18 implants were inserted into two Polyurethane (PU) bone blocks with different densities (0.16 g/cc and 0.32 g/cc). AMA was used to measure NF; First, the sound originating from the axial tapping of the implant was recorded with a simple microphone. Secondly, a fast Fourier transformation algorithm was conducted to determine the NF of the implant-bone analog structure. In parallel, the ISQ (Implant Stability Quotient) value was measured using the Osstell® device. Finally, using finite element analysis (FEA), the implant-bone analog structure was modeled for validation.RESULTS: Doubling the bone analog density resulted in an average increase of 82% and 47% in the NF and ISQ using AMA and Osstell®, respectively (P-value<0.05). Furthermore, a strong linear relationship (R2= 0.93) was observed between the measured NF and ISQ values in the linear regression analysis. The NF of the dental implant predicted by FEA was overestimated by about 15.2% and 15.0% than those in the low- and high-density PUs, respectively. Moreover, the FEA predicted an increase of 83% in NF by increasing the bone analog density from 0.16 to 0.32 g/cc.CONCLUSIONS: Having required the minimum process combined with easily available equipment makes it an ideal method for fixation strength studies. The good correspondence between the ISQ values and NFs, in addition to the good accuracy and reliability of the later method, confirms its application for fixation stability assessment.

Abstract:On the basis of resonance frequency analysis, a noncontact handheld assessment device that employs the vibro-acoustic technique with acoustic excitation and displacement response sensing was developed to quantify the stability of dental implants. The assessment technique employed in the developed device is superior to the magnetic sensing technique that uses an accessory for assessment. The calculated response spectra that characterized dental-structure resonance indicated the trend of osseointegration. In vitro and in vivo tests were performed to verify the performance of the developed device. For in vitro bone block testing, in addition to two cancellous bones and two thicknesses of cortical shells, interface tissues produced using different mixing ratios of resin to hardener epoxy adhesive were used to mimic the osseointegration progress. Furthermore, preliminary animal testing was conducted on rabbits to observe implant osseointegration in live bodies. Statistical analyses for varied designed bone models on measured resonance frequency, and the regression analysis between VA and Osstell™ ISQ for in vivo testing were performed. The necessary statistical analyses on various issues were considered as well as their descriptions. The developed noncontact vibro-acoustic assessment device can be used to monitor the implant stability status without having to use a mounted accessory.

Measurement of bone damage caused by quasi-static compressive loading-unloading to explore dental implants stability: Simultaneous use of in-vitro tests, μ-CT images, and digital volume correlation

Abstract:Primary stability of dental implants is the initial mechanical engagement of the implant with its adjacent bone. Implantation and the subsequent loading may cause mechanical damage in the peripheral bone, which ultimately reduces the stability of the implant. This study aimed at evaluating primary stability of dental implants through applying stepwise compressive displacement-controlled, loading-unloading cycles to obtain overall stiffness and dissipated energy of the bone-implant structure; and quantifying induced plastic strains in surrounding bone using digital volume correlation (DVC) method, through comparing μCT images in different loading steps. To this end, dental implants were inserted into the cylindrical trabecular bones, then the bone-implant structure was undergone step-wise loading-unloading cycles, and μCT images were taken in some particular steps, then comparison was made between undeformed and deformed configurations using DVC to quantify plastic strain within the trabecular bone. Comparing stiffness reduction and dissipated energy values in different loading steps, obtained from the force-displacement curve in each loading step, revealed that the maximum displacement of 0.16 mm can be deemed as a safe threshold above which damages in peri-implant bone started to increase considerably (p < 0.05). In addition, it was found here that peri-implant bone strain linearly increased with decreasing bone-implant stiffness (p < 0.05). Moreover, strain concentration in peri-implant bone region showed that the plastic strain in trabecular bone spread up to a distance of about 2.5 mm away from the implant surface. Research of this kind can be used to optimize the design of dental implants, with the ultimate goal of improving their stability, also to validate in-silico models, e.g., micro-finite element models, which can help gain a deeper understanding of bone-implant construct behavior.
Assessment of stress shielding around a dental implant for variation of implant stiffness and parafunctional loading using finite element analysis

Abstract:Purpose: The aim of this study was to evaluate the mechanical stimuli transfer at the bone-implant interface via stress and strain energy density transfer parameters. This study also aimed to investigate the effect of different implant stiffness and parafunctional loading values on the defined mechanical stimuli transfer from the implant to the surrounding bone. Methods: A three-dimensional finite element model of two-piece threaded dental implant with internal hexagonal connection and mandibular bone block was constructed. Response surface method through face-centred central composite design was applied to examine the influence of two independent factors variables using three levels. The analysis model was fitted to a second-order polynomial equation to determine the response values. Results: The results showed that the implant stiffness was more effective than the horizontal load value in increasing the stress and strain energy density transfers. The interaction between both factors was significant in decreasing the likelihood of bone resorption. Decreasing the implant stiffness and horizontal load value led to the increased stress transfer and unexpected decrease in the strain energy density, except at the minimum level of the horizontal load. The increase in the implant stiffness and horizontal load value (up to medium level) have increased the strain energy transfer to the bone. Conclusions: The stress and strain energy density were transferred distinctively at the bone-implant interface. The role of both implant stiffness and parafunctional loading is important and should be highlighted in the preoperative treatment planning and design of dental implant.

Abstract:Background Resonance frequency analyses and quantitative ultrasound methods have been suggested to assess dental implant primary stability. PurposeThe purpose of this study was to compare the results obtained using these two techniques applied to the same dental implants inserted in various bone phantoms. Materials and MethodsDifferent values of trabecular bone density and cortical thickness were considered to assess the effect of bone quality on the respective indicators (UI and ISQ). The effect of the implant insertion depth and of the final drill diameter was also investigated. ResultsISQ values increase and UI values decrease as a function of trabecular density, cortical thickness and the screwing of the implant. When the implant diameter varies, the UI values are significantly different for all final drill diameters (except for two), while the ISQ values are similar for all final drill diameters lower than 3.2 mm and higher than 3.3 mm. The error on the estimation of parameters with the QUS device is between 4 and 8 times lower compared to that made with the RFA technique.ConclusionsThe results show that ultrasound technique provides a better estimation of different parameters related to the implant stability compared to the RFA technique.
An In Vitro Evaluation of Periotest Implant Stability Measurements Taken on Implant Retained Crowns and Healing Abutments

Abstract:Objective: To assess the reliability of implant stability measurements recorded with the Periotest device and to investigate the differences in values when these measurements were taken on implant retained crowns and healing abutments. Materials and methods: Fifty-six implants in eight synthetic bone blocks were used to carry out implant stability measurements using the Periotest device by two different operators. Each block constituted an example of bone of density D1, D2, D3, or D4, and two blocks of each density were used. The healing abutments placed were of a height to allow approximately 6 mm of the implant-abutment complex to be supracrestal and temporary crowns were made to match the dimensions of an average central incisor. Descriptive statistics were used to describe the perio test values (PTVs) at each of the different heights on the implant abutments and implant crowns. Means for each site were calculated and distribution of data assessed using the Kruskal Wallis test. The interclass correlation coefficient (ICC) was used to determine the relationship between the PTVs recorded on the implant abutments and implant crowns. Results: The mean PTV (±standard devidation) recorded across all sites was 5.57 ± 11.643 on the implant abutments, and 12.27 ± 11.735 on the temporary crowns. Excellent/good inter-operator ICCs were recorded for the mid-abutment site in all bone blocks D1-D4 (ICC = 0.814, p < 0.001, ICC = 0.922, p < 0.001, ICC = 0.938, p < 0.001, ICC = 776, p < 0.001). For mid crown sites, ICC between operators was excellent/good only for recordings in D2 bone (ICC = 0.897, p < 0.001). Conclusions: Periotest device seems to be able to reliably measure implant stability across all types of bones when the implant stability is assessed at approximately 3 mm coronal to the implant platform for abutments and 4.5 mm for implant supported single crowns.

Abstract:Abstract A series of novel guar gum-g-poly(sodium acrylate-co-styrene)/muscovite (GG-g-P(NaA-co-St)/MVT) superabsorbent composites were prepared by free-radical grafting copolymerization of natural guar gum (GG), partially neutralized acrylic acid (NaA), styrene (St) and muscovite (MVT) using ammonium persulfate (APS) as the initiator and N,N-methylene-bis-acrylamide (MBA) as the crosslinker. Optical absorption spectra confirmed that NaA and St had been grafted onto the GG main chain and MVT participated in the polymerization reaction. The simultaneous introduction of St and MVT into the GG-g-PNaA matrix could clearly improve the surface morphologies of the composites, and MVT led to better dispersion in the polymeric matrix without agglomeration, as revealed by electron microscopy. The effects of St and MVT on the water absorption and swelling behavior in various saline solutions, aqueous solutions of hydrophilic organic solvents and surfactant solutions were investigated. Results indicated that the swelling rate and capabilities of the composites were markedly enhanced by the incorporation of the hydrophobic monomer St and inorganic MVT clay mineral. The superabsorbent composite showed a clearer deswelling characteristic in solutions of multivalent saline, acetone and ethanol, and cationic surfactant than that in the solutions of multivalent saline, methanol and anionic surfactant.
Quantitative Monitoring of Osseointegrated Implant Stability Using Vibration Analysis

Abstract:Abstract. Reliable and quantitative assessments for the stability of the osseointegrated prostheses are desirable and advantageous in ensuring the success of the installation and long-term performance. However, the common evaluation techniques are qualitative, where their accuracy of which relies on the surgeon’s experience. This computational study investigates the potential of using vibrational response to evaluate the stability of the osseointegrated implant using finite element simulation. This paper mainly focuses on the resonance frequency shift and mode shape changes associated with the degree of osseointegration which is simulated by varying bone-implant interface Young’s modulus. The resonance frequency of the specific torsional modes increases 211% and 155% for low-frequency (0 to 1800Hz) and high-frequency (1800 to 5000Hz) ranges respectively, as the simulated osseointegration process. Moreover, the torsional mode change from the implant to the femur-implant system is clearly evidenced. The findings highlight the potential application of vibration analysis on the assessment of implant stability.

Abstract:BACKGROUND: The primary stability of dental implants can be evaluated by insertion torque (IT) and resonance frequency analysis (RFA).OBJECTIVE: Assess the supposed relationship between the IT and RFA.MATERIALS AND METHODS: A systematic review was performed based on the PRISMA. The electronic search was performed in the PubMed, Web of Science, SCOPUS, Cochrane Library electronic, OVID, and Scielo databases. Manual searches were also performed. There was no restrictions regarding year of publication or language. The articles identified were assessed independently by 3 trained researchers. Clinical trials reporting the RFA values by means of implant stability quotient (ISQ) and IT were included.RESULTS: The electronic and manual searches yielded 2017 studies. Twelve studies were included in the systematic review. There was no statistically significant correlation between ISQ and IT (rs = .366; P = .079). The quality of the evidence was downgraded by risk of bias and indirectness; and the certainty of the evidence was low.CONCLUSION: IT and RFA are independent and incomparable methods of measuring primary stability. Is important for clinicians to define only one method of evaluation for each implant.

Nondestructive acoustic modal analysis for assessing bone screw stability: An ex vivo animal study

Abstract:Conventional insertion torque and pull-out tests are destructive and unsuitable for clinical bone screw fixation. This study evaluates screw stability using acoustic modal analysis (AMA) and Periotest compared to traditional methods in an ex vivo animal model. Titanium self-tapping screws (STS) and nonself-tapping screws (N-STS) were implanted in the proximal tibia of 12 rabbits. Four testing methods were used to assess screw stability: peak insertion torque (PIT) during implantation, AMA for natural frequency (NF), Periotest for Periotest value (PTV), and pull-out test for peak pullout force (PPF). Euthanization was performed at 0 (primary stability), 4, and 8 weeks (secondary stability). No significant difference in primary stability was found between STS and N-STS except for AMA (STS: NF 2434 ± 67 Hz, N-STS: NF 2572 ± 43 Hz; p = 0.62). Secondary stability increased significantly over time for both screw types (4-week: NF 3687 ± 36 vs. 3408 ± 45 Hz, PTV 1.4 ± 1.6 vs. -1.5 ± 1.8, PPF 236 ± 29 vs. 220 ± 34 N; 8-week: NF 3890 ± 39 vs. 3613 ± 31 Hz, PTV -3.2 ± 2.5 vs. -2 ± 4.3, PPF 248 ± 25 vs. 289 ± 28 N). Higher NF values for given PTV/PPF indicate potential clinical advantages. Significant differences between primary and secondary stabilities suggest osteointegration was mainly achieved in the 4-week group.

Abstract:Dental implant stability influences the decision on the determination of the duration between implant insertion and loading, This work investigates the resonant frequency analysis by means of a numerical model. The investigation is done numerically through the determination of the eigenfrequencies and performing a steady state response analyses using a commercial finite element package. A peri-implant interface, of simultaneously varying stiffness (density) and layer thickness is introduced in the numerical 3D model in order to probe the sensitivity of the eigenfrequencies and steady state response to an evolving weakened layer, in an attempt to identify the bone reconstruction around the implant. For the first two modes, the resonant frequency is somewhat insensitive to the healing process, unless the weakened layer is rather large and compliant, like in the very early stages of the implantation. A "Normalized Healing Factor" is devised in the spirit of the Implant Stability Quotient, which can identify the healing process especially at the early stages after implantation. The sensitivity of the RFA to changes of mechanical properties of periprosthetic bone tissue seems relatively weak. Another indicator considering the amplitude as well as the resonance frequency might be more adapted to bone healing estimations. However, these results need to be verified experimentally as well as clinically.

Abstract:Integrins promote formation of focal adhesions and trigger intracellular signaling pathways through cytoplasmic proteins such as talin, alpha-actinin, and focal adhesion kinase (FAK). The beta 1 integrin subunit has been shown to bind talin and alpha-actinin in in vitro assays, and these proteins may link integrin to the actin cytoskeleton either directly or through linkages to other proteins such as vinculin. However, it is unknown which of these associations are necessary in vivo for formation of focal contacts, or which regions of beta 1 integrin bind to specific cytoskeletal proteins in vivo. We have developed an in vivo assay to address these questions. Microbeads were coated with anti-chicken beta 1 antibodies to selectively cluster chicken beta 1 integrins expressed in cultured mouse fibroblasts. The ability of cytoplasmic domain mutant beta 1 integrins to induce co-localization of proteins was assessed by immunofluorescence and compared with that of wild-type integrin. As expected, mutant beta 1 lacking the entire cytoplasmic domain had a reduced ability to induce co-localization of talin, alpha-actinin, F-actin, vinculin, and FAK. The ability of beta 1 integrin to co-localize talin and FAK was found to require a sequence near the C-terminus of beta 1. The region of beta 1 required to co-localize alpha-actinin was found to reside in a different sequence, several amino acids further from the C-terminus of beta 1. Deletion of 13 residues from the C-terminus blocked co-localization of talin, FAK, and actin, but not alpha-actinin. Association of alpha-actinin with clustered integrin is therefore not sufficient to induce the co-localization of F-actin.
Study of the Differences in a Percussion-type Implant Stability Measuring Instrument according to Bridge prosthesis and screw loosening

Abstract:This study aimed to investigate the effect of different conditions on the implant stability test (IST) value of three-unit implant bridges. Fifteen pairs of specimens were prepared. Two internal conical-type implants were placed in artificial bone using a torque of 35 to 45 Ncm. Three-unit monolithic zirconia bridges (Perfit ZR) were fabricated using CAD-CAM. Im-plant Stability Quotient (ISQ) values were measured for each implant. IST value was measured under different conditions: healing abutment, without cementation, with cementation, one prosthesis unscrewed, and two prostheses unscrewed. The results showed statistically significant differences according to the conditions (p <0.05). The lowest IST level was observed in the groups tested on healing abutment and the prosthesis without cementation. The highest IST level was observed in the groups with cemented prostheses. There was no significant difference according to screw loosening. IST values for all groups measured above 79, indicating high stability with consistent tendency. The present study implied that IST values could be used as a reference restrictedly for assessing implant stability and conditions on bridge-type prostheses.
Effect of bone quality and quantity on the primary stability of dental implants in a simulated bicortical placement

Abstract:Objectives: Conventional dental implants inserted in the molar region of the maxilla will reach into the sinus maxillaris when alveolar ridge height is limited. When surgery is performed without prior augmentation of the sinus floor, primary stability of the implant is important for successful osseointegration. This study aimed at identifying the impact of bone quality and quantity at the implantation site on primary implant stability of a simulated bicortical placement. Materials and methods: In our in vitro measurements, bone mineral density, total bone thickness and overall cortical bone thickness were assessed by micro-computed tomography (μCT) of pig scapulae, which resembled well the bicortical situation found in human patients. Dental implants were inserted, and micromotion between bone and implant was measured while loading the implant with an axial torque. Results: The main findings were that primary implant stability did not depend on total bone thickness but tended to increase with either increasing bone mineral density or overall cortical bone thickness. Clinical relevance: Limited bone height in the maxilla is a major problem when planning dental implants. To overcome this problem, several approaches, e.g. external or internal sinus floor elevation, have been established. When planning the insertion of a dental implant an important aspect is the primary stability which can be expected. With other factors, the dimensions of the cortical bone might be relevant in this context. It would, therefore, be helpful to define the minimum thickness of cortical bone required to achieve sufficient primary stability, thus avoiding additional surgical intervention.

Abstract:[reaction: see text] A mild method for the reductive amination of aryl boronic acids with nitroso aromatic compounds is reported. This C-N bond formation is mediated by a stoichiometric amount of CuCl as both a catalyst and a reducing agent. Alternatively, 10% Cu(I)-3-methylsalicylate (CuMeSal) catalyzes the same reaction in the presence of either ascorbic acid or hydroquinone as the terminal reducing agent. Diarylamines bearing a variety of functional groups can be obtained in good yields.

Abstract:Background: Biomechanics of an implant-supported prosthesis play a key role in the success or failure of rehabilitation of missing teeth. This study aimed to analyze biomechanical factors, such as an implant design and prosthesis design for a single implant-supported prosthesis. An in-vitro strain gauge analysis and finite element analysis were performed to assess different implant thread shapes and prosthesis retention modes for their strain-producing property in the peri-implant region of bone. Methodology: Four study models were prepared. Two models were fitted with Bio Horizon Tapered-Pro implants having predominant buttress-shaped threads (BT) and then two models were fitted with Grande Morse Neo Dent implants having trapezoid-shaped threads (TT). Each design was used with two types of retention modes for prostheses, BP-C and TT-C for cement-retained prostheses and similarly BT-S and TT-S for screw-retained prostheses. The strain gauges were bonded to the models and connected to a strain meter. Using an opposing porcelain fused to a metal prosthesis, a combined (axial and non-axial) load of 50–300 N at a strain rate of 0.95 mm/s was applied stepwise to each prosthesis. The strain values were recorded, and the collected data were organized and analyzed using SPSS version 22. For the finite element analysis, four 3-D models were designed. The bone, dental implants, and prostheses for each group were designed using Solid Works. A static, linear simulation was conducted in Ansys software. Results and discussion: The strain values recorded were all less than 3000μɛ and within the physiological loading zone as per Frost’s theory. Statistically significant differences were found between all groups with p-values <0.05, suggesting that changes in implant design led to differences in peri-implant bone strains. At the maximum loading of 300 N, i.e., at the mean biting force of an individual adult, the maximum strain value of 1812 με was recorded for group TT-C. At the minimum loading, all strain values were less than 500 με except for group TT-C for which 518 με was recorded. The peri-implant bone next to the implant’s crest showed maximum strain, which means that this site is more subjected to the effects of overloading than any other part. The von Mises stress was seen concentrated at the implant neck. Conclusion: TT-C implant-supported prostheses give a high strain profile. In comparison, the BT-C implant-supported prostheses give a low strain profile at mean biting forces.
