Abstract:It is urgent to develop effective materials to decontaminate wastewater owing to water scarcity in the whole world. In this study, we successfully fabricated a superhydrophobic and superoleophilic MOFs/LDHs based-functional sponge (OMCTS/ZIF-67/CuCo-LDHs@Sponge) with large specific surface area and high porosity for the first time through a two-step co-precipitation method and surface modification of polysiloxane. The polydopamine (PDA) molecules not only greatly improved the adhesion between coatings and substrate, but also enhanced growth of MOFs and LDHs structure. The in-situ growth of hexahedron ZIF-67 particles on multiple layered CuCo-LDHs sphere formed heterojunction, which significantly increased adsorption sites, specific area, and porosity and also solved the aggregation problem of powder MOFs. The CuCo-LDHs with large surface area was beneficial to ZIF-67 growth owing to same Co2+connection. The developed superhydrophobic sponge not only quickly and selectively absorbed various microplastics (MPs, as high as 500mg/mL), dyes (C0 = 40mg/L, removal rate of 99.6%), and emulsified oils from high-salinity water with high capacity (e.g. 85mg/g for PP-2000, 94mg/g for PS-100, and 93mg/g for PE-2000), but also exhibited outstanding synchronous decontamination capability for coexisting pollutants through multi-molecular synergistic mechanism and multiple adsorption forces (grasping force, strong capillarity, electrostatic interaction, hydrogen bonds, π-π interactions, p-π conjugation interaction. Van der Waals forces). The coated sponge showed superior mechanical durability, which still maintained separation ability above 98% after repeated adsorption of MPs for 40 cycles. The adsorption mechanism was detailly investigated through theoretical simulation of adsorption energy. This coated sponge was destined to show broad and useful applications in water purification field.

Abstract:Abstract With the occurrence of offshore oil spills, the recovery of viscous oil continues to be a significant issue. The multi‐functional sponge with superhydrophobic, absorption of high viscosity oil is an effective approach to settle this problem. In this work, the melamine‐formaldehyde (MF) sponge was the backbone and doped with polydopamine (PDA) to mimic mussels. Subsequently, candle soot nanoparticles (CS) and polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) were applied to modify the MF sponge into a superhydrophobic sponge (P‐CS‐PDA@MF) (WCA = 153.56°). The P‐CS‐PDA@MF sponge showed good absorption properties for many oils and organic solvents (33.87–78.90 times of its own weight). In addition, the P‐CS‐PDA@MF sponge also showed outstanding chemical stability, low density (0.013 g/cm 3 ), emulsion‐breaking ability and flame retardancy. More interestingly, the P‐CS‐PDA@MF sponge showed superior photothermal conversion capability, the temperature of it increased to approximately 91°C within 100 s under simulated sunlight from room temperature (about 25°C), and the sorption capacity of viscous oils was significantly increased. Moreover, the P‐CS‐PDA@MF sponge exhibited a high efficiency (over 97%) for separating viscous oils/water mixtures with the aid of sunlight. This versatile and efficient multifunctional P‐CS‐PDA@MF sponge via a simple and low‐cost way shows promising prospect in oily wastewater treatment and water ecosystem remediation.

Abstract:Frequent oil spills have significant implications for the preservation of ecological balance. However, conventional superhydrophobic materials are limited to organic solvent separation, lacking the ability to undergo thermal conversion. In response to these challenges, photothermal materials have emerged as a promising, environmentally friendly, and cost-effective solution. These materials utilize solar energy as a constant power source to effectively reduce the viscosity of crude oil without the need for additional energy input. This work presents the self-assembly of titanium nitride/polydopamine (TiN/PDA) nanoparticles using hydrolytic methyltrimethoxysilane (MTMS) on the polyurethane (PU) sponge and subsequently dip-coats this sponge with polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS). The TiN nanoparticles act as a photothermal medium, while the PDA coating exhibits a photothermal synergistic effect on TiN nanoparticles. Additionally, the PDA coating demonstrates strong adhesion on the PU sponge through chemical bonding with MTMS, as confirmed by density functional theory (DFT). Furthermore, the superhydrophobic sponges process exceptional mechanical or chemical stability in harsh environments, thanks to the dual protective mechanisms provided by MTMS and PDMS. Particularly important, the excellent photothermal conversion efficiency of this material results in a maximum temperature of 99.4 °C being achieved within 3 min and a stable heating performance of over 99.0 °C across 10 cycles under a standard sunlight intensity. These superhydrophobic sponges can be effectively utilized for continuous vacuum-assisted separation of crude oil/seawater, enabling rapid adsorption and purification in oceanic environments.
Biomass-activated carbon-based superhydrophobic sponge with photothermal properties for adsorptive separation of waste oil

Abstract:The increasing discharge of oily wastewater from life poses a serious threat to the ecological environment and human health. To develop green, efficient, and low-cost materials for oil-water separation, a superhydrophobic photothermal oil-absorbing sponge (CAC-PDA@MF) was prepared by using nanoscale coconut shell activated carbon (CAC) loaded on a melamine sponge in this study. The sponge had excellent superhydrophobicity (WCA of 159.53°) due to the reduction of surface energy by grafting long-chain silanes. The adsorption capacity of the sponge was 69.04 g/g-158.27 g/g for a wide range of oils and organic solvents, and the sponge had excellent mechanical properties for multiple adsorption and recovery of oil. After 50 cycles of oil-water separation, its separation efficiency was maintained at over 98 %. In addition, the material had high acid, alkali, and salt resistance as well as excellent photothermal conversion properties. Its surface temperature rose rapidly to 100 °C and above, at a light intensity of 1.0 kW/m2. The material was capable of adsorbing and recovering high-viscosity oils that were solid or semi-solid at room temperature. Its versatility and commercial value made it a promising candidate for a wide range of applications.

Abstract:Efficient recovery of accidentally spilled viscous crude oil remains a global challenge, due to its poor fluidity at low temperature. Advanced porous absorbent with self-heating capability using multi-energy heating is highly desirable to mitigate the threat of oil spills to marine environment. Herein, photothermal nano-candle soot (CS), magneto thermal nano-Fe 3 O 4 , and polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) with low surface energy were incorporated into an aligned porous microchannel structure of thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) sponge. This endowed the sponge with robust mechanical compressibility, superhydrophobicity/superoleophilicity, and remarkable photo/magneto-thermal properties. The temperature of PDMS-CS/Fe 3 O 4 @TPU sponge surface could be rapidly heated to 87.7 °C under simulated sunlight of 1.0 kW m −2 intensity, and to 105.8 °C in an alternating magnetic field of H = 5 kA m −1 . Notably, the temperature of the composite sponge surface reached 87.6 °C with the combination of weak sunlight irradiation of 0.5 kW m −2 and alternating magnetic field (AMF) intensity of 3 kA m −1 . Furthermore, the composite sponge could achieve continuous recovery of viscous crude oil at a rate up to 503.5 kg m −2 h −1 with the combination of weak sunlight irradiation and AMF. This work reports a prospective strategy and material for efficient and all-weather recovery of spilled viscous crude oil.

Abstract:The concentrations of insulin-like growth factors I and II (IGF-I and IGF-II) and their binding proteins in serum were measured in 10 GH-deficient patients before and after a single 6-IU injection of GH. Serum IGF-I concentrations were initially low, increased significantly by 8 and 24 h, and decreased to pretreatment levels 48 and 72 h after GH administration. Serum IGF-II concentrations also were low initially and did not increase by 8 and 24 h, but were, however, significantly higher 48 and 72 h after GH administration. In GH-deficient patients before GH administration, binding of IGF-I or IGF-II to serum proteins was restricted primarily to proteins of 50K mol wt. Little or no binding to proteins of 150,000 mol wt was found. By 8 and 24 h after GH injection, IGF-I, but not IGF-II, bound primarily to a protein(s) of 150K mol wt, as in normal subjects. IGF-II remained bound to a 50K mol wt protein. By 48 and 72 h after administering GH, however, the binding pattern was reversed, and IGF-II, but not IGF-I, bound predominantly to a protein(s) of 150K mol wt. Our data demonstrate both a temporal dissociation in the responses of IGF-I and IGF-II to GH and a similar temporal dissociation in the binding of IGF-I and IGF-II to the large mol wt (150K) binding protein. This dissociation, particularly the latter, may provide a means for better characterization of protein fractions in binding IGF, particularly in terms of specificity.

Abstract:Developing an efficient and environmentally friendly strategy for oil-water separation is extremely important for practical application. In this study, a superhydrophobic and superoleophilic melamine sponge loaded with cross-linked and swellable polydivinylbenzene was successfully fabricated by a facile and effective one-step impregnation-curing method with adhesion of polydimethylsiloxane. The prepared sponge not only exhibited high oil absorption capacity, but it also enabled rapid oil collection in situ, which could be extended to practical application. Moreover, the modified superhydrophobic sponge showed excellent mechanical resistance and chemical stability. The surface morphology and chemical composition were characterized by scanning electron microscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. This material has great development potential for large-scale oil spill clean-up and chemical spill accidents.

Abstract:Crude oil spill is difficult to deal with and still a global challenge due to its high viscosity. Developing foams with excellent mechanical properties, photothermal effect and Joule heating effect simultaneously to achieve crude oil all-weather recovery is desirable. Here, 3D porous foams were successfully fabricated by the composite of polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) and multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT) by a combination of sacrificial template method and laser etching treatment. Benefiting from the low surface energy of PDMS itself and the micro-nano structures constructed in the preparation, the obtained foams exhibit excellent superhydrophobic and superoleophilic properties (WCA of 157° and OCA of 0°). Significantly, MWCNT do not exist as a coating around the foam surface, but as the main component constituting the foam skeleton, so the foam shows excellent mechanical property, low temperature resistance, high temperature resistance, salt resistance and abrasion resistance. Moreover, taking the advantage of the addition of MWCNT, the foam shows excellent photothermal effect requiring 1 sun irradiation to attain a temperature of 60.7 °C after 4 min and a stable temperature of 71.6 °C after 10 min, and Joule heating effect requiring only 9 V voltage to attain a temperature of 64.5 °C after 1.5 min and a stable temperature of 91.1 °C after 10 min, respectively. Besides low viscosity oil–water separation, it can achieve rapid crude oil spill recovery under the photothermal effect or Joule heating effect. The combination of the two effects can realize the coupling effect and achieve high-efficiency all-weather high viscosity crude oil recovery, thus making the foam more practical. This foam is expected to be an ideal material for all-weather dealing with oil spills.

Abstract:In recent years, spills of petroleum and organic chemicals have frequently occurred during their transportation at sea, which has caused serious pollution for water resources. In view of this, a superhydrophobic PU/CB@FAS sponge with excellent photothermal conversion performance was prepared, and its microscopic morphology and wettability were investigated in this paper. The results showed that the skeleton of PU/CB@FAS sponge was covered with a layer of CB nanoparticles, and elements such as F and Si were found on the skeleton surface. Subsequently, the water contact angle of the PU/CB@FAS sponge was measured to be 151°and the sponge was able to separate oil-water mixtures in different ways. When the sponge was used as an adsorbent material, its saturation capacity was 27.11–59.96 g·g−1 for low-viscosity oils/organic solvents such as soybean oil. Finally, the PU/CB@FAS sponge's photothermal conversion performance was investigated at a light power density of 1 sun (1.0 kW/m2), and the sponge's adsorption capacity for crude oil was increased by 15 times compared with the condition of without light. Thus, the PU/CB@FAS sponge successfully achieved rapid oil-water separation and adsorption for high-viscosity crude oil, showing a broad practical application prospect.

Abstract:In the ever-growing environmental concerns caused by crude oil spills and solvent discharges, our study pioneered an ingenious approach to fabricate superhydrophobic melamine formaldehyde (HMF) materials through in situ anchoring of a porous hyper-cross-linked polymer (HCP) and achieved stable integration of HCP on the MF surface by covalent bonds and hydrogen bonds instead of traditional adhesives. The resulting composite material exhibits exceptional performance with an oil adsorption capacity of 130 mL/g, a filtration/separation efficiency exceeding 99%, and remarkable environmental resistance and recyclability. The robust interfacial strength and high degree of cross-linking porous HCP facilitate tailorable design and easy adjustment of pore structures and ensure repeated use through simple squeezing. Notably, the hydrophobicity and porous structure of the sponge can be conveniently regulated by controlling the deposition amount of HCP, realizing a high adsorption capacity and/or efficient emulsion separation on demand. This study not only contributes to the advancement of wettability materials but also presents an efficient, versatile, and convenient method and toolbox to address diverse oil/water separation challenges, paving the way for sustainable environmental solutions and marking a significant stride toward a cleaner future.

Abstract:Developing functional adsorption materials that efficiently adsorb high viscosity oil is crucial for solving oil spill accidents. Herein, low-density three-dimensional porous melamine sponge was used as the modified substrate. First, phytic acid is selected for modification to make it flame retardant. Then, polypyrrole (PPy) and hexadecyltrimethoxysilane (HDTMS) are modified on its surface through low-temperature polymerization and impregnation, ultimately obtaining a multifunctional durable superhydrophobic PA/PPy/ (melamine foam) sponges with photo/electro-thermal effects and flame retardant. When the applied voltage is 10 V, the core temperature on the PA/PPy/ sponge's surface rapidly increases from 26.4 °C to 134.6 °C within 80 s, and the sponge will not burn and be damaged. Under the irradiation of one sunlight (1 kW/m 2 ), the surface core temperature can rapidly rise from 26.4 °C to 93 °C within 70 s. The superhydrophobic PA/PPy/ sponge can all-weather absorb kinds of high viscosity crude oil and solid oils that are 18–27 times than its own mass, indicating that the prepared superhydrophobic sponge has excellent oil collection performance. And under one sunlight (1 kW/m 2 ), after 10 cycles of desorption, the prepared superhydrophobic sponge can still absorb 26 times more crude oil than its own weight. In addition, PA/PPy/ sponge also has the characteristic of photothermal defrosting and deicing, and the ice on its surface can begin to melt within 5 min under one sunlight (1 kW/m 2 ). The melted water will not enter the inside of the sponge, effectively ensuring the utilization efficiency of photothermal effects. Based on the above advantages, the prepared photo/electro thermal conversion superhydrophobic sponge has excellent development prospects in the field of high viscosity oil adsorption and photothermal defrosting/deicing.

Abstract:Frequent oil spills and the discharge of industrial oily wastewaters have become a serious threat to the environment, ecosystem, and human beings. Herein, a photothermal, magnetic, and superhydrophobic PU sponge decorated with a Fe3O4/MXene/lignin composite (labeled as S-Fe3O4/MXene/lignin@PU sponge) has been designed and prepared. The obtained superhydrophobic/superoleophilic PU sponge possesses excellent chemical stability, thermal stability, and mechanical durability in terms of being immersed in corrosive solutions and organic solvents and boiling water and being abrased by sandpapers, respectively. The oil adsorption capacities of the S-Fe3O4/MXene/lignin@PU sponge for various organic liquids range from 29.1 to 70.3 g/g, and the oil adsorption capacity for CCl4 can remain 69.6 g/g even after 15 cyclic adsorption tests. The separation efficiencies of the S-Fe3O4/MXene/lignin@PU sponge for n-hexane and CCl4 are higher than 98% in different environments (i.e., water, hot water, 1 mol/L NaOH, 1 mol/L NaCl, and 1 mol/L HCl). More importantly, the introduction of three light absorbers (i.e., Fe3O4, MXene, and lignin) into the S-Fe3O4/MXene/lignin@PU sponge shows a synergistic effect in the photothermal heat conversion performance, and the maximum surface temperature reaches 64.4 °C under sunlight irradiation (1.0 kW/m2). The separation flux of the S-Fe3O4/MXene/lignin@PU sponge for viscous LT147 vacuum pump oil reaches 35,469 L m-2 h-1 under sunlight irradiation, showing an increase of 27.3% compared to that of oil adsorption processes without the photothermal effect. Thus, the rational design of superhydrophobic sponges by introducing proper photothermal heat absorbers provides new insights into facile and cost-effective preparation of sponges for efficient oil/water separation.
Fluorine-Functionalized Covalent Organic Framework Superhydrophobic Modified Melamine Sponge for Efficient oil–water Separation

Abstract:Hydrophobic sponges have attracted significant interest in oil spills and water-oil separation as potential absorption materials due to their desirable absorptivity, selectivity, and elasticity. In this paper, a hydrophilic melamine sponge (MS) is transferred into a superhydrophobic sponge via polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) modification followed by in situ growth of fluorine-functionalized covalent organic framework (denoted as TFA-COF) nanoparticles. Therefore, the PDMS@TFA-COF@MS sponge was successfully prepared for efficient oil-water separation. The resultant PDMS@TFA-COF@MS exhibits superhydrophobic properties with a water contact angle of 156.7°. The superhydrophobic sponge has selectivity adsorption for different organic solvents and oils from water as well as oil-water separation efficiency (96% after 30 cycles) and oil absorption capacity (12 646% after 30 cycles). Meanwhile, the PDMS@TFA-COF@MS sponge exhibits strong thermal stability and flame retardancy in addition to having exceptional resistance to chemical corrosion in acidic, alkaline, and salt solutions. Moreover, the surfactant-stabilized oil-in-water emulsion could be efficiently separated by the sponge. Therefore, the prepared superhydrophobic PDMS@TFA-COF@MS sponge demonstrates possible uses for long-life oil-water separation applications.

Herein, a photothermal and superhydrophobic melamine sponge (MS) decorated with MXene and lignin particles has been prepared for the separation of oil/water mixtures, the recovery of crude oils, and active deicing. The obtained superhydrophobic melamine sponge shows a water contact angle (WCA) of 152.3° and an oil contact angle of ∼0° and possesses good chemical stability, thermal stability, and mechanical durability in terms of being immersed in various liquids (i.e., corrosive solutions, organic solvents, and boiling water) and being abrased by sandpapers. This superhydrophobic MS displays a high oil adsorption capacity of CCl4, up to 91.6 times its own weight and a high separation efficiency of 99.4%. Furthermore, the maximum surface temperature of the superhydrophobic MS reaches 57.5 °C under sunlight irradiation (1.0 kW/m2) due to the excellent photothermal heating conversion performance of MXene and lignin particles. When exposed to sunlight, the superhydrophobic MS can quickly absorb viscous crude oils up to 72 times its own weight. Also, the WCA of the superhydrophobic MS remains above 146° after 50 icing/deicing cycles, showing excellent photothermal anti-icing properties. Thus, this study presents an easy and low-cost method for designing photothermal superhydrophobic melamine sponges and opens a new avenue to the applications of efficient oil/water separation, fast crude oil recovery, and active deicing.

A Low‐Temperature Carbonization Strategy for Efficient Viscous Crude Oil Spill Disposal without Hydrophobic Coating: CoFe‐PBA‐Catalyzed Carbonization of Superhydrophobic Flame Retardant Melamine Sponge

Abstract:A high‐performance oil–water material with efficient mechanical/chemical durability, photothermal performance, flame retardancy, smoke suppression and toxicity reduction is constructed by adopting the CoFe‐PBA low‐temperature catalytic carbonization strategy for melamine sponges. The difficulties of relying on hydrophobic coatings and preparing carbon sponges at high‐temperatures can be overcame, providing feasible conditions for emergency response to viscous crude oil spills. Due to the difficulty of absorbing viscous crude oil, there is an urgent need for carbon sponges with excellent photothermal properties and oil‐water separation capabilities to reduce viscosity and facilitate oil absorption. However, the preparation of high‐temperature carbonization leads to poor mechanical properties, low absorption capacity, and stringent preparation conditions. To solve these challenges, a highly hydrophobic flame‐retardant melamine sponge (CPBA@CMS) is designed by assembling sponge at the interface of cobalt–iron Prussian blue (CoFe‐PBA) derived from metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) and conducting low‐temperature catalytic carbonization under nitrogen. The results demonstrate that CPBA@CMS exhibits excellent superhydrophobic properties (water contact angle = 169.7°) and oil absorption capacity (80.7–219.5 g g−1). Furthermore, CPBA@CMS displays remarkable photothermal effects and thermal conductivity, making it adaptable to various environmental conditions. It can rapidly rise to 141 °C under 1 kW m−2 solar irradiation, with the maximum oil absorption rate reaching 98% and the highest oil absorption capacity at 105.5 g g−1. Additionally, CPBA@CMS shows significant fire safety performance, reducing heat release rate by 84.2%, smoke factor by 97.5%, and CO release rate by 81.4%, respectively. It provides an efficient, safe, and sustainable practical solution for effectively addressing spills of crude oil.

Abstract:Fast and efficient cleanup of high-viscosity oil spills on the sea is still a global challenge today. Traditional recycling methods are either energy demanding or inefficient. Hydrophobic/oleophilic sorbents are promising candidates to handle oil spills, but they have limited ability to recover high viscosity oil. In this work, we report a superhydrophobic/oleophilic carbon nanotubes (CNT) and polypyrrole (PPy) coated melamine sponge (m-CNT/). The CNT/PPy coating enables the sponge to convert light and electricity to heat, ensuring that the absorbent can adapt to various working environments. The rapid heat generation on the sponge surface can significantly reduce the viscosity of crude oil and accelerate the absorption rate, thereby achieving the purpose of rapid recovery of oil spills. Under one sun illumination (1.0 kW/m2) and an applied voltage (8 V), the surface temperature of the m-CNT/ can reach 118.6 °C. The complete penetration time of oil droplets is 93.5% less than that of an unheated sponge. In addition, under half sun irradiation intensity and 11 V, the porous sponge absorbed 6.92 kg/m2 of crude oil in the first minute, which is about 31 times as much as that of an unheated sponge. Finally, we demonstrate a continuous absorption system, consisting of a self-heating m-CNT/ and peristaltic pump, that can continuously recover oil spills on the sea surface. In view of its unique design, lower cost and fast oil absorption speed, this work provides a new option to tackle large-scale oil spill disasters on the sea surface.

Abstract:The environmentally friendly and efficient remediation of crude oil spills is a global challenge due to its high viscosity and low fluidity at room temperature. Herein, we reported a polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) modified biomass carbon fibers foam immobilized with Ag 2 nanoparticles via the self-assembly, freeze-drying, carbonization , and hydrophobic modification processes (denoted as PAAC). The resulting PAAC foam exhibited excellent hydrophobicity (water contact angle: 147.8 ◦ ), high solar absorption capacity and excellent photothermal conversion property, which enable it to decrease the viscosity of heavy oil and achieve high adsorption capacity of heavy crude oil (60.5 g/g) and great reusable performances under 0.3 sun energy drive. In addition, the PAAC foam showed excellent adsorption capacity to organic solvents and low viscosity oils (11.3–26.4 g/g). Under visible-light irradiation, PAAC foam exhibited remarkable photocatalytic efficiency for removing crystal violet and demonstrated high stability and photocatalytic activity after five consecutive cycles. The proposed design of a solar heated sorbent presents a new potential to explore multifunctional biomass materials to solve environmental pollution problems on a large scale.

Abstract:In view of the complexity and diversity of multi-state oils, the development of green and low-cost materials with high selectivity to oils has important ecological significance in the polluted water treatment. Herein, a simple method was proposed to develop large-scale production of superhydrophobic sponges (CPMF200 sponges) for high-efficiency oil/water separation under different complex environments. The as-prepared CPMF200 sponges possessed many superior properties, including high roughness, well-developed porosity, good thermal stability, excellent chemical stability, and superhydrophobic properties (water contact angle is 152°), which is conducive to high oil adsorption capacity (up to 70-179 times of its own weight) and oil-water separation. More importantly, the CPMF400 sponge has an excellent photothermal conversion capability to improve the fluidity of high viscosity oil for oil recovery. Based on a simple synthesis method, it exhibits high-efficiency absorption of multi-state oils and excellent oil-water separation performance and strongly proves their application prospects in treating oily wastewater.

Abstract:Superhydrophobic porous materials exhibit remarkable stability and exceptional efficacy in combating marine oil spills and containing oily water discharges. This work employed the multi-template high internal phase emulsion method to fabricate a multi-template porous superhydrophobic foam (MTPSF). The materials were characterized through SEM, IR spectroscopy, contact angle measurement, and an electronic universal testing machine. Moreover, the materials' oil–water separation capability, reusability, and compressibility were thoroughly evaluated. The obtained results demonstrate that the material displays a water contact angle of 143° and an oil contact angle of approximately 0°, thus exhibiting superhydrophobic and superoleophilic properties. Consequently, it effectively facilitates the separation of oil slicks and heavy oil underwater. Furthermore, the MTPSF conforms to the second kinetic and Webber–Morris models concerning the oil absorption process. MTPSF exhibits an outstanding oil absorption capacity, ranging from 39.40 to 102.32 g g −1 , while showcasing reliable reusability, high recovery efficiency, and excellent compressibility of up to 55%. The above exceptional attributes render the MTPSF highly suitable for oil–water separation applications.
