Abstract:Background and purpose: Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) programs accept responsibility for the development of clinical skills and professional behaviors in students. Academic and clinical faculty endeavor to teach and mentor at the highest levels. Doctor of Physical Therapy programs that develop leadership intentionally, specifically personal, or self-leadership may be successful in leading positive change within their graduates' relationships, environments, and patient outcomes. Personal leadership means leading from within as an individual and does not require the individual to have a leadership title or role. It includes characteristics such as authenticity, passion, emotional intelligence, trustworthiness, and credibility. Case description: This case report will unveil how 1 established residential DPT program integrated personal leadership explicitly as a curricular thread. The 3 pillars are leading self, leading others, and leading systems: organizations and communities. The program used evidence-based processes used to build materials, learning activities, and assessments. The program achieved purposeful integration, including academic/clinical faculty development and progressive student learning experiences. Outcomes: Program assessment through focus groups and curricular surveys shows that students value the curricular content in personal leadership and are meeting the curricular thread behavioral objectives. Discussion and conclusion: The personal leadership curricular thread shows promise to promote leadership behaviors in students and graduates.
Outcomes of Residency Education: Insights Into the Professional Formation of the Physical Therapist Resident

Abstract:Introduction: The definition of excellence in physical therapy (PT) education is evolving, yet the role of postprofessional residency education remains uncertain. Arguments in favor of required residency have emerged through the re-visioning of PT education across the continuum. Yet, little evidence exists whether residency education further develops clinical skills, clinical knowledge, and clinical reasoning abilities. Review of literature: Previous studies have explored the development of the novice physical therapist in the first 2 years of practice; however, there is little evidence about the outcomes of PT residency education. Thus, this study looked to explore the development of learners through their residency education and to identify the critical elements of the teaching and learning environment in residency education. Subjects: Eleven PT residency programs and 13 residents participated in a qualitative study to explore the learner development through residency. Each residency program consisted of a residency program director, one or more mentors identified by the residency program director, and at least one physical therapist resident. Semistructured interviews were conducted with program participants, and journal entries were collected from residents. Methods: Using a purposeful sample of convenience, an exploratory, multiple-site/specialty area qualitative case study design was conducted. Results: Three emerging themes were identified including growth of self, becoming a member of the community of practice, and facilitation of learning through mentoring. Through the transformative journey of residency education, there are critical elements of the learning environment supporting deep learning within the community of practice. These elements include the provision of opportunities and adequate time and space for learning to occur. Discussion and conclusion: The intentional design of the community of practice through residency education facilitates the development of the novice clinician to experienced clinician in an accelerated period of time. In addition, residency graduates develop characteristics similar to adaptive learners through planned teaching and learning opportunities. Finally, the structure of residency education mattered to the resident participants such that the learning environment enhanced peer learning and the development of professional relationships.

Abstract:BACKGROUND: The Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching commissioned the Preparation for the Professions Program, a qualitative study of professional education in 5 professions: medicine, nursing, law, engineering, and clergy. These studies identified curricular structures, instructional practices, assessment approaches, and environmental characteristics that support the preparation of professionals and led to educational reforms. The physical therapy profession has not had any in-depth, national investigation of physical therapist education since the Catherine Worthingham studies conducted more than 50 years ago.OBJECTIVES: This research was a Carnegie-type study, investigating elements of excellence and innovation in academic and clinical physical therapist education in the United States.DESIGN: Five physical therapist education researchers from across the United States used a qualitative multiple-case study design.METHODS: Six academic and 5 clinical programs were selected for the study. The academic institutions and clinical agencies studied were diverse in size, institutional setting, geography, and role in residency education. Qualitative case studies were generated from review of artifacts, field observations, and interviews (individual and focus group), and they provided the data for the study.RESULTS: A conceptual framework grounded in 3 major dimensions was generated, with 8 supporting elements: (1) culture of excellence (shared beliefs and values, leadership and vision, drive for excellence, and partnerships), (2) praxis of learning (signature pedagogy, practice-based learning, creating adaptive learners, and professional formation), and (3) organizational structures and resources.CONCLUSION: Building on the work of the Carnegie Foundation's Preparation for the Professions Program, a conceptual model was developed, representing the dimensions and elements of excellence in physical therapist education that is centered on the foundational importance of a nexus of linked and highly valued aims of being learner centered and patient centered in all learning environments, both academic and clinical.
A developmental pathway toward leadership for educational change: the Educators' experiences of the educational scholar program

Abstract:Introduction: The Educational Scholar Program (ESP) is a creative method to focus on the quality of education and the scholarship of education. This paper critically investigated how educational educators perceived the Educational Scholar Program. Method: The ESP was developed according to the project-based learning method. An interdisciplinary strategy was used by participating educators from different schools, including nursing, medicine, public health, dentistry, and pharmacy. (n = 27). Semi-structured interviews explored the experiences of the participants in the ESP. A conventional content analysis approach introduced by Graneheim and Lundman was used for data analysis. Results: A theme of "a developmental pathway toward leadership for educational change" was explored into four categories: "Motivated for educational change," "collaborative learning through the application of knowledge," "tensions of change agent," and "a perceived responsibility of a change agent." Conclusion: The participants perceived the ESP as a platform for improving leadership capabilities for educational change through the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL). Using the ESP as a faculty development program to train educational leadership for change is suggested.

Abstract:The principles of isolating plasma membrane (basolateral membrane and brush border membrane), and separating right side-out and inside-out membrane vesicles were described. We then focused on the liver plasma membrane. Liver plasma membrane vesicles have been used to investigate the mechanism for the hepatobiliary transport of ligands. We precisely describe our protocol to isolate the sinusoidal (SMV) and canalicular membrane vesicles (CMV) from rat liver using the percoll gradient. Methods to determine the purity and orientation of SMV and CMV are also mentioned. Furthermore, procedures for the transport studies with SMV and CMV are provided; we refer to the electrogenic sodium dependent transport of taurocholic acid and alanine into SMV as an example to characterize the secondary active transport system. ATP-dependent uptake of S-(2,4-dinitrophenyl)-glutathione (DNP-SG) into CMV is also cited as an example to clarify the primary active transport mechanism. Kinetic analysis for the ATP-dependent uptake of [3H] DNP-SG into CMV is also described.

Abstract:Purpose: The purpose of this study was to understand how a service-learning project implementation can help preservice physical education teachers develop physical activity (PA) leadership skills. Methods: A qualitative exploratory single case study was employed, and eight preservice physical education students enrolled in service-learning course were recruited. Data included pre/post self-assessment surveys, reflection journals, individual interviews, and final poster presentations, and were coded using service-learning as a lens. Trustworthiness was established using multiple strategies. Results: Three major themes emerged, each with their own subthemes. Theme 1 was Practical Experience, Theme 2 was Learning to be Leaders, and Theme 3 was Service-Learning. Discussion/Conclusion: The hands-on structure of a service-learning course allowed students to develop PA leadership skills and provided them with the skills and confidence needed to implement expanded PA programs in the future. Service-learning courses are a viable option for PA leadership training in teacher education programs.

The Impact of Postgraduate Leadership Development Fellowships for Doctors-in-Training: Reflections from a Fellow's Experience and a Narrative Literature Review

Abstract:Postgraduate leadership fellowships are becoming more popular among doctors-in-training. The author completed a one-year leadership fellowship with the Health Education England (HEE), East Midlands. A personal reflective approach was used to present the experiences of the author following the completion of the fellowship programme. Using the PubMed database, a narrative literature review on the impact of postgraduate leadership development programmes on doctors-in-training was also performed, with a focus on published randomised controlled trials (RCTs) and systematic reviews. Personal benefits for the author were seen in the areas of improved leadership skills; completion of a postgraduate academic qualification; improvement of teaching skills; and honing of major trauma clinical skills. Furthermore, the literature review showed that there was high grade evidence from two randomised controlled trials, for the impact of such programmes in obstetrics/gynaecology simulation, and on team leadership for major trauma resuscitation. In addition, three systematic reviews reported positive impacts of such programmes at an individual level for participants' attitudes, knowledge and skills, with minimal evidence for the overall impacts on healthcare institutions.
Transforming Society Through Critical Service-Learning: A Position for a Justice-Based Approach to Experiential Learning in Physical Therapy Education

Abstract:Background and purpose: In response to the numerous calls for the physical therapy profession to position itself as an equity and social justice-centered profession, we are called to provide aspiring physical therapists with the skills to dismantle inequities and injustice in their communities. Exposure to health inequity and injustice through conceptual and experiential learning alone does not prepare students to create positive change and may serve to perpetuate stereotypes and offer simplistic solutions to complex problems. Position and rationale: We argue that a traditional service-learning model lacks transformative potential for bringing about social change. Therefore, we introduce critical service-learning, compare it with the traditional model in the context of physical therapy experiential learning, and provide rationale and guidance on transitioning to this educational approach. We believe critical service-learning is an action-oriented approach that works to identify the root causes of social and structural determinants and accept personal and shared responsibility for acting to ameliorate their effects. Critical service-learning experiences require critical reflection and call for intentional design including teacher training, rich community engagement, student assignments that challenge current paradigms, and use of evaluative measures that assess community goals. These aspects add to the historically practiced traditional model. Discussion and conclusion: We invite educators to shift to critical service-learning, an approach that has great potential for benefiting all interested parties in meaningful and long-lasting ways. Critical service-learning holds the opportunity for our profession to be better positioned to transform society.

Abstract:Purpose : Building on research surrounding the occupational socialization of physical educators, scholars have begun asking questions about how physical educators are socialized within graduate programs both at the master’s and doctoral levels. As a part of a larger longitudinal investigation, the purpose of this study was to understand how participation in a research-focused masters’ program influenced the socialization of one in-service practitioner and one doctoral student over the 2-year period following degree completion. Method : Data sources included telephone focus group interviews, text message communication, and e-mail discussions. Data were analyzed inductively. Results : The data analysis resulted in the construction of the following themes: (a) developing independence, (b) enhanced theoretical knowledge, and (c) frustration and disenchantment with the profession. Discussion/Conclusion : The results of this study highlight the importance of leadership opportunities for doctoral candidates and beginning teachers, and the significance of relationship building for professional development.

Transformative Learning Emerging From Challenges First-Year Students Experienced

Abstract:Introduction: Doctor of physical therapy (PT) (DPT) programs are rigorous, and students report facing overwhelming challenges. Faculty may not be cognizant of the extent of these challenges and miss opportunities to support student learning. The purpose of this article is to describe factors affecting student coping abilities and the lessons they learned from managing their self-identified challenges. Review of literature: Given the growing body of evidence surrounding mental health issues in DPT students, educators are exploring ways to support student well-being and promote their professional development. Subjects: This study is a component of a larger multisite study of first-year DPT students from 3 private universities. Methods: Participants submitted written narratives in response to a critical incident questionnaire designed to better understand first-year challenges. Responses were deidentified, researchers were blinded to participation, and confidentiality was maintained throughout. A consensus-driven interpretivist approach to qualitative data analysis was used. Strategies to ensure trustworthiness included triangulation of researchers, peer review, prolonged engagement, and use of thick rich descriptions. Results: Seventy responses were analyzed. Two major themes are presented: (1) students described factors internal and external to the learning environment that inhibited and facilitated their ability to cope with challenges and (2) students shared academic successes and lessons learned from overcoming challenges, including the development of new behaviors, enhanced self-awareness, and personal and professional growth. Discussion and conclusion: Building on previous work, analysis of the lived experiences of first-year DPT students revealed a process of transformational learning through challenge. This process highlights the importance of recognizing and supporting the significant incidental learning that occurs in our students during their journey through PT school. Faculty focusing solely on content knowledge, skills, and even critical thinking may not recognize and support the incidental learning occurring and may be missing significant transformational learning opportunities.

Abstract:Background and purpose: Integrating principles of social justice and health equity (SJHE) into Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) education may be one way to confront the root causes of health inequity. The purpose of this method/model presentation is to highlight structural competencies for faculty and students to integrate SJHE into a 3-year DPT program and a professional development program designed to provide core and clinical faculty with the tools to engage in critical discussions with students and support their development as agents of change. Method/model description and evaluation: This presentation highlights how SJHE structural competencies can be integrated into existing course content (as opposed to presented as a standalone course). Researchers interviewed 10 DPT faculty and 10 DPT students about their experience learning about SJHE. Six clinical instructors (CIs) who supervised students during a full-time clinical education experience (CEE) discussed students' ability to apply SJHE concepts during CEEs. Outcomes: Faculty expressed the need for practice in low-stakes settings such as through simulation. Students valued learning about SJHE over 3 years with the opportunity to integrate content during CEEs but felt that SJHE could be better integrated in classroom content. Some peers were perceived to be resistant to SJHE. Clinical instructors described that although students were prepared to apply foundational SJHE concepts, students were surprised by the complexity of patient need. Discussion and conclusion: Exploratory analysis of faculty, CI, and students' perceptions confirm that SJHE is needed in DPT education but takes time to integrate well with a steep learning curve and additional faculty development needs that must be met.

Abstract:Background: There are persistent structural barriers that threaten inclusion and retention of underrepresented in medicine (UIM) residents and fellows (trainees) as future faculty in academic medicine. We developed the Leadership Education in Advancing Diversity (LEAD) Program at a single, academic institution, to address these barriers through a 10-month longitudinal curriculum across GME for trainees to develop leadership and scholarship skills in DEI. Objective: Explore how participation in LEAD impacted UIM trainees' sense of belonging and professional identity formation in academic medicine; as well as perceptions about pursuing a career in academic medicine and future leadership roles. Methods: IRB-approved qualitative study in August 2020-August 2021 with individual, semi-structured interviews of UIM LEAD graduates from the first 4 cohorts (2017-2021). Data were analyzed by two authors using modified grounded theory. Results: 14 UIM trainees were interviewed; seven themes emerged. Critical aspects of the program: (1) Creation of a community of shared DEI values (2) Mentorship (3) Role of allies. Results of the program: (4) Deepened appreciation of personal and professional identity as UIM (5) Fostered belonging in academic medicine (6) Appreciation of different careers in academic medicine and how to integrate DEI interests (7) Inspired trainees to pursue leadership roles. Conclusions: LEAD can serve as a model for other institutions that seek to support UIM trainees' sense of belonging, professional identity formation, and perceptions about pursuing careers in academic medicine and future leadership roles.
Perceptions of the Leadership Through Scholarship Fellowship Graduates: An Exploratory Qualitative Study of Leadership

Abstract:Background and objectives: Despite increasing numbers of faculty identifying as underrepresented in medicine (URiM) over the last few decades, URiM representation in academic medicine leadership has changed little. The Society of Teachers of Family Medicine funded the Leadership Through Scholarship Fellowship (LTSF) to target this population and provide a framework for scholarly success. Based on responses to open-ended questions from a leadership survey, we characterize how early-career URiM family medicine faculty view leadership and assess attitudes and perceptions of leadership development. Methods: A survey, developed by survey experts from multiple institutions and consisting of multiple-choice and open-ended questions, was sent to the first two cohorts after the LTSF program. All LTSF participants identified as URiM and as early-career (5 years or less since fellowship or residency) family medicine faculty. Fellowship faculty collected anonymous survey responses through Qualtrics (Qualtrics, LLC). We conducted thematic analysis with emergent and iterative coding by two experienced qualitative researchers. Results: All of the fellows surveyed (N=19) completed the survey. The qualitative researchers identified the following themes: leadership development (with subthemes of collaborative scholarship and request for mentoring), and barriers to leadership and scholarship (with subthemes of lack of time, lack of support, and diminished opportunities for advancement). Conclusions: These themes represent lessons learned from URiM faculty participating in a single faculty development fellowship. Collaborative scholarship, both as an early-career faculty need and a leadership responsibility, is a new contribution to the existing literature. While identified by URiM family medicine faculty, these themes are likely familiar to early-career faculty across all medical specialties and faculty identities. These lessons can guide senior academic leaders in preparing early-career faculty for leadership in academic medicine.
Richter transformation with c-MYC overexpression: report of three cases.

Abstract:Pathogenesis of Richter transformation (RT) or Richter syndrome (RS) of chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) is still largely unknown. Increasing evidences show that c-MYC may play a role in the development of RS. Here we report three cases of RS with overexpression of c-MYC. The first case was a 78-year-old male who initially presented with CLL and then developed diffuse lymphadenopathy and ascites shortly after. Ascites cytology showed a population of large lymphoid cells positive for MYC (8q24) rearrangement by fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) and overexpression of c-MYC by immunohistochemistry (IHC). The second case was a 66-year-old male presented with rapidly enlarging lymph nodes and pleural effusion after a long history of CLL. Biopsy showed large B-cells positive for c-MYC overexpression and high Ki-67 proliferation index (80-90%). The third case was a 62-year-old female with CLL who presented for lobectomy for lung adenocarcinoma. Interestingly, along with the carcinoma, large B-cell lymphoma was incidentally found which had the same immunophenotype as the CLL. FISH analysis revealed gain of c-MYC at 8q and IHC showed increased c-MYC expression. This study supports that c-MYC plays a critical role in RS.
Zinc-Excess Intake Causes the Deterioration of Renal Function Accompanied by an Elevation in Systemic Blood Pressure Primarily Through Superoxide Radical-Induced Oxidative Stress

Abstract:Using rats fed 22 g/d of a control diet containing 0.005% zinc (Zn) or 2 Zn-excess diets containing 0.05% or 0.2% Zn for 4 weeks, we examined the mechanisms involved in the deterioration of renal function induced by Zn-excess intake. An increase in Zn intake elevated mean blood pressure (BP) and reduced renal blood flow (RBF) and inulin clearance in a dose-dependent manner. This decline in inulin clearance may be derived from a fall in RBF. Administration of the nitric oxide (NO) synthase inhibitor, Nω-nitro-l-arginine methyl ester, markedly increased mean BP and significantly decreased RBF in the 3 groups of rats. Administration of the exogenous superoxide radical (OO−) scavenger, tempol, significantly decreased mean BP and substantially increased RBF in all groups of rats. These observations suggest that both an elevation in systemic BP and a reduction in RBF seen in the 2 Zn-excess diet groups result from a decrease in the action of the vasodilator, NO, through the formation of peroxynitrite based on the nonenzymatic reaction of NO and increased OO−. Indeed, the activity of the endogenous OO− scavenger, copper/Zn-superoxide dismutase, was significantly reduced in the vessel wall of rats fed 2 Zn-excess diets versus a control diet. 8-Hydroxy-2′-deoxyguanosine formation caused by OO− generation was notably elevated in the kidneys of rats fed 2 Zn-excess diets relatively to rats fed a control diet. Thus, Zn-excess intake leads to the aggravation of renal function concomitantly with an increase in systemic BP predominantly through the oxidative stress caused by OO−.

Abstract:Introduction: Physical therapy professional education program directors (PDs) face stress associated with work roles and responsibilities, which can cause burnout and job turnover. Review of literature: Burnout and turnover in physical therapy education PD positions are influenced by inexperience, insufficient compensation, decreased support, heavy workloads, difficulty hiring and retaining faculty, and internal conflict. Program directors also receive insufficient training in their roles. Individuals with greater resilience, or the ability to face adversity with positive outcomes, may be more resistant to stress, burnout, and turnover. Therefore, this study's purpose was to explore the relationships among leadership behaviors, demographic and program factors, and resilience in physical therapy PDs. Subjects: Of the 600 physical therapy PDs invited to participate in the study, 126 directors completed the survey (21% response rate). Methods: The survey included demographic questions, the Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire (MLQ-5X), and the 10-item Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale (CD-RISC-10). Correlational analyses were used to investigate relationships among leadership behaviors, demographic and program factors, and resilience. Results: Participants included 43 physical therapist and 82 physical therapist assistant PDs (79.4% female and 20.6% male participants; mean age, 52.0 ± 8.3 years; mean years in role, 7.3 ± 6.9 years). Mean MLQ-5X scores showed that participants primarily used transformational leadership (TFL) behaviors. The mean CD-RISC-10 score for participants was 33.06 (±4.10). Analysis revealed statistically significant positive relationships between all TFL behaviors and resilience. Exploratory regression analysis revealed that 3 leadership behaviors and one demographic factor may contribute to resilience in participants, although the proportion of variance was modest (39%). Discussion and conclusion: This is the first study to offer insight regarding the relationships between leadership behaviors and resilience in physical therapy PDs. These results may help lay the foundation for future research in this area, with the goal of decreasing burnout and job turnover through increased resilience.
Learning by leading: A qualitative inquiry into the perceived academic, personal, and professional development of PAL study group leaders in physiotherapy education

Abstract:Background: Peer assisted learning (PAL), where student leaders facilitate their peers' learning, is prevalent in higher education. However, PAL leaders' development in physiotherapy education and their role perceptions relating to their future professional practice are understudied. Purpose: We aimed to understand how PAL leaders in physiotherapy education perceive their own academic learning and personal development, and how they view their experiences as PAL leaders in relation to future physiotherapy practice. Methods: Focus group interviews were used to collect qualitative data from third-semester students who had been PAL leaders (n = 19). Data were analyzed using a reflexive, thematic analysis. Results: Three main themes were generated: "Being a PAL leader consolidates knowledge and facilitates new learning," "Personal growth through experiential learning outside the comfort zone within a community of practice," and "Learning by leading - transferability of being a PAL leader to future physiotherapy practice." Conclusion: Overall, physiotherapy students leading PAL study groups demonstrated academic, personal, and professional growth via experiential learning in a community of practice. They developed skills likely transferable into their future physiotherapy roles. Our findings propose PAL study groups as an arena for PAL leaders to practice complex physiotherapy competences, positioning PAL study groups as valuable preclinical practice for physiotherapy students.

Abstract:Background and purpose: Despite changing clinical care dynamics, health professions education has been slow in addressing gaps in leadership development as teaching and assessment of clinical care-related knowledge, skills, and attitudes remain central across curricula. While accreditation standards across health professions programs acknowledge the importance of leadership development within curricula, it remains an underrepresented aspect of health professions training. Educational activity and setting: Given the varied approach to leadership training, we set out to develop a tailored approach to leadership development that integrated the Center for the Advancement of Pharmacy Education (CAPE) outcomes and was based on self-awareness, skill-building, and application. This pilot included three cohorts of doctor of pharmacy students and measured their knowledge, skills, and self-awareness as they progressed through this year-long program. It also measured leadership competency attainment using a pre- and post-assessment in one cohort. Findings: Participant satisfaction was assessed using session and program evaluations, while self-perception of growth and leadership competency attainment was assessed using a survey that was administered before and after program participation. Participants found the program to be beneficial in meeting stated objectives and in creating a conducive learning environment. Results of the pre- and post-assessment indicated growth in all dimensions of self-perception of knowledge, skills, and self-awareness, as well as attainment of leadership competency personal leadership commitment and leadership knowledge. Summary: Offering co-curricular leadership development programs based on CAPE outcomes and leadership competencies provided students with the opportunity to develop leadership skills and acquire knowledge needed to be effective healthcare leaders.
Leadership Development as a Medical Educational Fellow in Psychiatry: Reflection After Two Years

Abstract:Aims The disruptive force of the COVID pandemic has highlighted the importance of leadership for all medical educationists to prepare the future workforce with the ever-changing healthcare practice. Early career medical educators must attain leadership skills as early as possible. The only way to learn leadership is through experiential learning, i.e. learning while leading. Therefore, this self-study is aimed to share the reflection on the journey of a psychiatrist specialist trainee from North Wales in leading different psychiatric educational projects. Methods This is self-study research on the reflective experience of working as a medical educational fellow while undergoing specialist training in psychiatry from January 2022 to December 2023. The data reflected were sourced from publications, end-of-project reports, meeting minutes, participant and peer feedback, personal records, educational portfolios, and appraisals. Results Nine psychiatric educational quality improvement projects (QIPs) had been conceptualised and implemented, i.e. three series of mock exams (Special Preparation in CASC Exam), continuous coaching and mentoring in portfolio-based learning (Café of RCPsych Portfolio), continuous mentorship in academic writing (Mini North Wales-Academic and Research Clinic), continuous peer supervision in psychotherapy (Gogledd Cymru-Peer Supervision in Psychiatry), mock interview for job application, digitalisation of departmental induction, psychopathology training (3P: Psychopathology for Postgraduate Psychiatrists Trainee), and two international collaborative educational programmes (Perinatal Psychiatry Perinatal and Infant Psychiatry Educational Programme of Wales, Tanzania, and Malaysia; and Bhutan Old Age Psychiatry Educational programme). Five peer-reviewed publications had been completed while the other academic writings were ongoing. Three of the projects (33.3%) were expanded from a Welsh initiative to the whole United Kingdom and a bigger team was formed to ensure sustainability could be achieved. Two projects (22.2%) started as an international collaborative project. All projects provided opportunities for the members of the QIP to obtain workplace-based assessments and evidence for yearly appraisal while improving the educational experience of trainees and professionals in the field of mental health. Conclusion All challenges come with the opportunities to be innovative in problem-solving. Communication skills and people management are crucial for resource gathering and conflict resolution. Lastly, talent development is required as part of the effort to sustain all the projects.
