Abstract:Safety accidents occur very frequently in primary and middle schools,which poses serious threat on pupils′ physical and mental health development,brings heavy mental pressure to their parents,and also affects schools′ normal work and the society′s harmony and stability.It is of great importance for pupils′ overall development and the construction of a harmonious society to strengthen the safety management and ensure pupils′ healthy development.Based on the analysis of detailed and accurate data and cases,twelve categories of campus safety accidents are classified and their causes are analyzed in this paper.Moreover,eight countermeasures are put forth while strengthening the consciousness of management responsibility.

Abstract:With the increasing enhancement of China's comprehensive strength and the rapid development of modern society, contemporary college students have more diversified channels for obtaining information, which affects students' psychology due to the mixed content of information. Mental health education is an important topic which aims to help college students to have healthy and sound mental quality and personality so that they can better adapt to the society and cope with various challenges. Therefore, teachers should analyze the causes of students' mental problems at this stage as a first step, and develop scientific prevention strategies according to the actual situation to lay a solid foundation for students' healthy development in the future.

Abstract:The issue of juvenile campus bullying has always been a challenge for schools and families. The tolerance of violent behavior in society, lapses in school management, and deficiencies in family education can all lead to the unhealthy psychological development of students. To solve the problem of campus bullying, it requires the collective effort of all sectors of society to create a good learning and living environment for adolescents. Strengthening family education is the prerequisite; parents should establish correct educational concepts, learn to understand and respect their children. Schools should build comprehensive prevention and intervention mechanisms in line with students' developmental needs, thoroughly explore the formation and prevention mechanisms of campus bullying crime psychology, promptly identify and properly handle bullying incidents, and regularly conduct psychological education to enhance students' psychological resilience and ability to cope with setbacks. Society should also pay attention to the psychological health of adolescents, create a positive cultural atmosphere, advocate values of tolerance and respect, reduce the negative impact on adolescents, thus curbing the spread of campus bullying and safeguarding the healthy growth of minors.

Abstract:Schools are considered to be one of the safest places where children are seen on a daily basis and are under the supervision of teachers who are trained and equipped caregivers. Children are victims of all forms of abuse, punishment, neglect, discrimination, and ill-treatment within the school setting. Though there are various policies and programmes at international and national levels, addressing child protection has been a serious challenge for every community. Children need to be protected and any acts that hamper their well-being and safety need to be curbed. The objective of this chapter is to critically evaluate school-based child-protection programmes and suggest a model of child protection through positive schooling. Positive schooling is an approach to create a healthier and safer school environment. Positive schooling emphasises inclusiveness, strength-based education, developing character strengths, creating least restrictive environments, and fostering well-being among the school community, including students and teachers. It aims at creating a positive culture where every learner gets equal opportunities to learn and develop. It gives value to overall well-being of the individual and happiness within the learning environment. It promotes positive teaching strategies without the use of punishment and pressure. The positive culture within the school environment would promote peer support and collaboration, preventing bullying and abuse. Learners and facilitators would respect and support each other, focusing on strengths rather than weakness, which would, in turn, create an inclusive environment accommodating everyone. The chapter also highlights the need for: trained professionals, like counsellors, in school settings; stronger school-based polices; and the need for collaboration among school administrators, counsellors, teachers, and parents.

Abstract:School bullying is a very common social problem that exists on campus nowadays, and many students have experienced it. By analyzing the consequences of school bullying, more people can be warned not to do so. Identifying the factors behind school bullying can allow people to come up with effective solutions and reduce the frequency of this type of violence in schools. There are many causes of school bullying, but they can all be classified into three broad categories, which are the differences of victims, inappropriate peer culture and lack of education in both schools and families. The unique qualities of victims make them targets for bullies, bad group culture can lead to the aggravation of this type of behavior, and a lack of education is the root cause of this type of behavior. Therefore, schools and governments should set rules and penalties for school bullying. In addition, families and schools also need to strengthen education in this regard and make them aware of the wrongness of such behavior. People need to work together to end bullying in schools and create a healthier learning environment for students.

Abstract:At present, juvenile campus bullying is seriously threatening their own physical and mental health, campus security and even social security, making social instability factors increase. It is to explore how to reduce and avoid the frequent occurrence of campus bullying and provide effective countermeasures for the governance of campus bullying. The relevant research on the governance of campus bullying and the prevention mechanism of students' mental health problems is conducted from the judicial perspective. The methods of literature survey and questionnaire are employed to investigate and analyze the campus bullying problem governance and the influencing factors of students' mental health. The results show that the causes of campus bullying are not only due to external factors, but also due to internal factors from students themselves. The principle of timely prevention and comprehensive management must be followed in the construction of the multigovernance system of campus bullying. It suggests that there are many factors for the occurrence of campus bullying. Only by finding out the root cause of the problem and taking measures to deal with it can the occurrence of campus bullying be effectively avoided.

Abstract:Through an in-depth study of the mental health problems of Chinese college students, its existence, manifestations and effects were analyzed. The study found that academic pressure, employment pressure and family factors are the main causes of mental health problems among Chinese college students. To solve these problems, three countermeasures are proposed: to carry out mental health education and publicity, to establish a mental health support system, and to provide psychological counselling and treatment services. Finally, the outlook of mental health problem solving among Chinese college students is examined, and future trends, challenges and development strategies are discussed. This study will provide useful reference for the solution of college students' mental health problems.

Abstract:The article analyzes the causes, types and forms of aggressive behavior in childhood and adolescence. The conditions and basic principles of the organization of psychological and pedagogical prevention and correction of aggressive behavior in children and adolescents in an educational organization are discussed, including the earlier identification and analysis of the causes of students’ aggressive behavior, as well as a single strategy for the actions of teachers and students. The last principle, in turn, may have individual trajectories depending on the specific case of aggressive behavior in a particular child or group of children. But in all cases the strategy should be based on a negative attitude to the facts of harm to people around them and material values, as well as on training of constructive coping strategies.

Abstract:Adolescent behavior is closely related to academic and long-term personal development, and adolescents are vulnerable to the influences from people around them. This study aimed to analyze the factors and mechanisms that influence the behavior of adolescents. It examines the impact of family, teachers, and peers on adolescent prosocial behavior and misconduct. Data were obtained from the China Education Panel Survey (CEPS) follow-up data (2014–2015 school year) and 7835 middle school student participants were used for analysis. Structural equation modeling (SEM) was used to explore the influence and mechanisms of family, teachers, and peers on the development of adolescent social behavior. The findings showed that parental relationships, parental discipline, teacher supervision, and positive peer behavior were positively associated with adolescent prosocial behaviors and reduced the incidence of delinquent behaviors, while frequent home–school contact was associated with misconduct (all p < 0.01). These results remained significant after controlling for gender, residence, only-child status, family financial situation, and paternal education. Significant others in an adolescent's life play multiple essential roles in forming and developing adolescent behavior and in directly influencing them. To guide the prosocial behaviors of middle school students and reduce delinquent behavior, we should build harmonious parent—child, peer, and teacher–student relationships, teach according to their aptitudes, pay attention to particular groups and strengthen psychological health education to develop their self-esteem and self-confidence.

Mediating Effects of Academic Self-Efficacy and Depressive Symptoms on Prosocial/Antisocial Behavior Among Youths

Abstract:Adolescence is a critical period during which youth develop and shape their behaviors. Because differences between youths are strongly connected to environmental factors, we aimed to elucidate possible pathways from home-school regulation and atmosphere to youths' prosocial and antisocial behaviors. Data were derived from the China Education Panel Survey. This study involved a total of 9291 students aged 14-15 years (4834 boys, 4457 girls). We used structural equation modeling (SEM) with LISREL 8.80 and Monte Carlo resampling with R to conduct the analysis strategy. In the home-school regulation, parental supervision on the one hand and teacher criticism on the other hand have direct positive and negative predictive effects on youths' prosocial behaviors, respectively, while their direct effects on antisocial behavior are the opposite; teachers praise does not directly affect adolescents' prosocial and antisocial behaviors. In the home-school atmosphere, family interaction and perceived good class climate directly positively affect youths' prosocial behaviors, while the direct effects of both on antisocial behavior are not significant. The SEM results reveal that academic self-efficacy and depressive symptoms may be underlying mediating mechanisms through which home-school regulation and atmosphere during adolescence affect students' prosocial and antisocial behaviors. Intervention programs targeting home-school supportive environments and prevention programs targeting positive emotion and self-awareness may yield benefits for proper social behavior in adolescents. For example, by enhancing the way and frequency of parent-child interaction, teachers and students jointly create a good class climate of care and friendship to strengthen a home-school supportive environment. Improve adolescents' positive emotions such as contentment, optimism, and hope to reduce the possibility of depression.

Facing the mental health problems of college students , the reasons of effective countermeasures were researched, and some suggestions for solving the college mental health problems were provided. This paper argues that the current mental health problems are complex and diverse, mainly from the social environment, the negative energy oriented education, family education and school students self concept development imbalance caused by four aspects. According to the psychological health problems of college students, this paper puts forward that to vigorously promote the social environment of positive energy, schools should strive to practice quality education, students should pay attention to family education and the students themselves should pay more attention to the balanced development.

Abstract:School bullying has plagued schools with violence for quite some time and exerts a serious negative impact on society. Primary and secondary school can be looked at like a micro-society composed of students, teachers, and staff where students can suffer serious injury, physically and mentally, at the hands of school bullies. It is therefore urgent to reduce the prevalence of school bullying in hopes of eliminating it altogether. The present research aims to encourage social safety promotion through the study of crime prevention through environmental design theory and an exploration of characteristics of school bullying in primary and secondary schools. From there, environmental design strategies such as improved spatial interaction, a sense of safe territory, dedicated space for various activities, and positive emotions in child-friendly spaces are proposed. The outcome of this research hopes to improve campus security and reduce and prevent school bullying while guiding architectural design for primary and secondary school campus design.

Abstract:While numerous studies have revealed the impact of different bullying behaviors, such as victimization and perpetration, on the psychological development of adolescents, the exploration of the correlates of positive/negative bystander behaviors and their potential underlying mechanisms remains scarce in China. The present study aims to compare the relationships between mental health and positive versus negative bystander behavior and to clarify whether self-efficacy and coping styles mediate the relationships between mental health and bullying dynamics. The current study was conducted on 11,734 students from 18 secondary schools in Suzhou, China (Meanage = 15.00, SDage = 1.47; 53.8% boys). The information on bullying victimization, perpetration, positive/negative bystander behaviors, as well as self-efficacy, coping styles and mental health variables (including depression, anxiety, sleep disturbance, suicide risk), were collected. Negative bystander behavior was positively associated with mental health problems, while positive bystander behavior was negatively associated with these factors. Also, further analysis showed that coping styles and self-efficacy mediated the relationship between different bullying behaviors and mental health outcomes. The results highlighted the comparison of the correlates of positive and negative bystander behaviors, which were comparably crucial to those of victims and perpetrators for prevention and intervention efforts. Promoting adaptive coping styles and self-efficacy to buffer the deleterious psychological consequences of bullying behavior in adolescents was also important.

Abstract:This article addresses the important role school health education program can play in reducing youth risky behaviors that lead to incarceration, diseases and fatalities or that impact their academic performance in school. Children growing up are at risks of exposure to different behaviors and common social influences which if unchecked result in unexpected health consequences common among youth in America today. According to US Centers for Disease Control & Prevention, the six leading behaviors that cause death, disability, and social problems among American children are: unintentional injuries and violence, alcohol and drug use, tobacco use, unhealthy diets, inadequate physical activities, and sexual behaviors and diseases. This article shows that school health program: 1) can provide the foundation for children to learn desired healthy behaviors in order to preserve life, 2) protects the future of children and that of the nation, 3) can teach students skills to recognize risky behaviors and resist them, 4) can boost community efforts to achieve desired health behaviors, 5) closes socio-economic gaps that interfere with basic nurturing of children, and 6) finally links local stakeholders as partners in promoting community safety. Through review of literature, the authors found that it costs ($588) daily or (214,620) annually to incarcerate a juvenile and only $75 daily for the cost of individualized community-based services. The cost to New York is over $900,000, yet does not address the causative issues. The authors recommend that schools teach comprehensive school health from kindergarten to grade 12 and employ health educators to support teachers teach health promotion and education.

Abstract:Bullying and victimization in the school environment have been a major concern in recent years for students, parents, teachers and state authorities. The purpose of this article is to describe the multidimensional phenomenon and its short- and long-term social and emotional consequences on all parties, whether directly or indirectly involved, and to examine the risk and protective factors through Bronfenbrenner’s ecological systems theory, focusing on one of the main "systems", during adolescence, that of the school. The cultivation of social skills, coupled with a consistently positive school climate, are identified as key protective factors against bullying. In addition, two particularly successful approaches to preventing and tackling school bullying internationally are presented, namely social-emotional learning (SEL) and peer support programs. Social-emotional learning is based on the cultivation of social and emotional skills, while peer support capitalizes on the key role of “bystanders”. As evidenced by the existing literature, a significant number of meta-analyses have demonstrated the multiple benefits that result from the systematic implementation of social-emotional learning programs at all levels of education. Also, empirical research has shown that the proven success of peer support programs needs further documentation, as their diversity and complex structure require systematic and long-term implementation prior to their final evaluation.

Clinical Child and Family Psychology Review

Abstract:Rates of mental health problems and disorders in children and youth have been increasing for at least three decades, and these have escalated due to the pandemic and multiple other societal stressors. It is increasingly recognized that students and families frequently struggle to receive needed care through traditional locations such as specialty mental health centers. Upstream mental health promotion and prevention strategies are gaining support as a public health approach to supporting overall population well-being, better utilizing a limited specialty workforce, and reducing illness. Based on these recognitions, there has been a progressive and escalating movement toward the delivery of mental health support to children and youth "where they are," with a prominent and more ecologically valid environment being schools. This paper will provide a brief review of the escalating mental health needs of children and youth, advantages of school mental health (SMH) programs in better meeting these needs, example model SMH programs from the United States and Canada, and national and international SMH centers/networks. We conclude with strategies for further propelling the global advancement of the SMH field through interconnected practice, policy, and research.
