Abstract:Personal wet-thermal management (PWTM) is not only highly desirable for human health and comfort, but also plays a notable role in the emerging smart wearable clothes and electronic devices as the levels of integration and multifunction are determined by it. In “human skin-wearable fibrous fabric-external environment” microclimate system, wearable fibrous fabric, as the “second skin” of human body, is the key to PWTM. In particular, excellent sweat/moisture transport capacity combined with passive radiative cooling, which concentrated on promoting sweat/moisture transport, solar radiation reflection and human body infrared radiation emission with zero-energy consumption, have attracted tremendous attentions. Nonetheless, improving sweat/moisture transport and radiative cooling performances, viz., boosting the synergistic management of wet-thermal to extend its applications remains a challenge. Herein, we report a facile PWTM strategy by fabricating hydrophobic/hydrophilic Janus membrane with oriented fibers decorated by silicon oxide nanoparticles via electrospinning. Taking advantages of the hydrophobic/hydrophilic asymmetric wettability and directional wicking of Janus fibrous membrane, sweat/moisture can be driven from skin to the external environment directionally. What’s more, the oriented fiber structure enhances both the solar reflectance (90.8%) and human body infrared radiation (HBIR) emittance (97.4%), which allows cooling down the temperature obviously. Compared with the traditional cotton fabric, the Janus fibrous membrane has excellent passive radiative cooling performance that a dramatic drop in temperature about 20°C can be achieved in outdoor environment. Such novel strategy provides a new and effective way to enhance the efficiency of PWTM.

Abstract:In a human skin-fibrous fabric-external environment, fibrous materials, as the "second skin" of the human body, provide comfort against the wet and heat effectively. Fibrous materials protect human health and guarantee work efficiency in various outdoor or inner scenes. Personal wet-thermal management based on fibrous materials can regulate comfort in a facile manner with low or zero energy consumption, which has become a potential development area. However, realizing synergistic management of the wet and heat effectively and conveniently is a challenge in the development and production of fibrous materials. We designed and fabricated a Janus fibrous membrane composed of 3-(trimethoxysilyl)propyl methacrylate (TMSPMA)-modified hydrophobic cotton gauze and electrospun carbon nanotubes (CNTs)-doped cellulose acetate (CA) hydrophilic fibrous membrane. Taking advantage of asymmetric wettability along its thickness direction, the Janus fibrous membrane, acting as a "liquid diode", could transport sweat/moisture from human skin to the external environment unidirectionally, which endowed a dry surface on human skin, avoiding "stickiness", and realizing wet management. Doped CNTs had good photothermal-conversion capacity, so the Janus membrane exhibited excellent heating capacity for passive radiation, so excellent synergistic wet-thermal management was obtained. The Janus membrane could be a candidate for diverse applications of fibrous membranes. Our data provide new ideas for the design and fabrication of fibrous membranes with remarkable wet-thermal management.
Integrated asymmetric cellulose aerogel membrane with triple thermal insulation and unidirectional liquid penetration for personal thermal management

Abstract:With the rapid development of personal thermal management, there is an urgent need for an advanced material that can effectively integrate various thermal functions to keep body warm and cope with the cold outdoor environment. Herein, a multifunctional cellulose based asymmetric modification aerogel membrane (ACAM) encompassing thermal insulation, thermal radiation reflection, solar adsorption, and directional perspiration has been fabricated via bottom-up assembling biomass sisal fibers and pulp fibers into cellulose aerogel membrane, followed by spin-coating ionic liquid modified graphene (IGNs) and silver nanowires (AgNWs) on both sides of the cellulose aerogel membrane, respectively. The results showed that the temperature on the IGNs side is 14.2 °C higher than that of the cotton cloth after 30 s of sunlight exposure. Compared with pure cellulose aerogel membrane, the AgNWs side of ACAM has lower infrared emissivity and higher infrared reflectivity, and the temperature is reduced by 3.2 °C in indoor environment. In addition, the ACAM has asymmetric wettability, which facilitates the transfer of sweat from the hydrophobic side to the hydrophilic side and perspiration penetration was achieved in 10.6 s to obtain the comfort of wearing. The ACAM also exhibits excellent breathability, easy preparation and controllable functional structures. This work may provide a new idea for heat management and dynamic moisture to ensure maximum comfort in very harsh environments.

Abstract:Personal thermal management materials integrated with phase-change materials have significant potential to satisfy human thermal comfort needs and save energy through the efficient storage and utilization of thermal energy. However, conventional organic phase-change materials in a solid state suffer from rigidity, low thermal conductivity, and leakage, making their application challenging. In this work, polyethylene glycol (PEG) was chosen as the phase-change material to provide the energy storage density, polyethylene oxide (PEO) was chosen to provide the backbone structure of the three-dimensional polymer network and cross-linked with the PEG to provide flexibility, and carbon nanotubes (CNTs) were used to improve the mechanical and thermal conductivity of the material. The thermal conductivity of the composite fiber membranes was boosted by 77.1% when CNTs were added at 4 wt%. Water-resistant modification of the composite fiber membranes was successfully performed using glutaraldehyde-saturated steam. The resulting composite fiber membranes had a reasonable range of phase transition temperatures, and the CC4PCF-55 membranes had melting and freezing latent heats of 66.71 J/g and 64.74 J/g, respectively. The results of this study prove that the green CC4PCF-55 composite fiber membranes have excellent flexibility, with good thermal energy storage capacity and thermal conductivity and, therefore, high potential in the field of flexible wearable thermal management textiles.

Abstract:The development of personal thermal management textile is of great significance to satisfy the individual thermal comfort in an energy saving manner. However, major challenges remain, such as the sacrificed permeability, and limited mechanical durability, hindering long-term wearing comfort and reliability. Herein, a breathable, integrated thermoregulating fibrous membrane combining photo/electrothermal conversion and energy storage/release performance was fabricated for all-weather, on-demand, personal thermal management. We have delicately constructed a hierarchically ordered coaxial fiber structure that assembled functional components together for a versatile platform, through facile coaxial electrospinning followed by polydopamine (PDA) assisted metal deposition techniques. Interestingly, the intermediate PDA layer not only favors homogeneous loading of Ag nanoparticles (AgNPs), but also facilitates the interfacial bonding of the adjacent metal layer and the phase change fiber substrate for a seamlessly integrated system with improved structural stability and robust electrical performance. As a result, benefiting from the hierarchical coaxial structure of individual fibers and the overall well-preserved porous structure, we have fabricated an highly integrated, breathable, metalized phase change fibrous membrane with admirable heat enthalpy of 101.1 J/g, decent solar heating capability (up to 63.2 °C at 100 mW/cm 2 ), and low voltage-driven Joule heating performance (up to 76.8 °C at 3.5 V), which exhibited a broad application prospect in next-generation wearable personal thermal management.

Abstract:A highly integrated flexible fibrous membrane is fabricated by electrospinning and conformal assembly strategy. The coaxial structured conductive network endows the breathable membrane with dual‐driven heating behavior and admirable electromagnetic interference shielding performance. Benefiting from the well‐bridged interfaces, a robust hierarchical structure is achieved for long‐term reliability. The expeditious growth of wearable electronic devices has boomed the development of versatile smart textiles for personal health‐related applications. In practice, integrated high‐performance systems still face challenges of compromised breathability, high cost, and complicated manufacturing processes. Herein, a breathable fibrous membrane with dual‐driven heating and electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding performance is developed through a facile process of electrospinning followed by targeted conformal deposition. The approach constructs a robust hierarchically coaxial heterostructure consisting of elastic polymers as supportive "core" and dual‐conductive components of polypyrrole and copper sulfide (CuS) nanosheets as continuous "sheath" at the fiber level. The CuS nanosheets with metal‐like electrical conductivity demonstrate the promising potential to substitute the expensive conductive nano‐materials with a complex fabricating process. The as‐prepared fibrous membrane exhibits high electrical conductivity (70.38 S cm−1), exceptional active heating effects, including solar heating (saturation temperature of 69.7 °C at 1 sun) and Joule heating (75.2 °C at 2.9 V), and impressive EMI shielding performance (50.11 dB in the X‐band), coupled with favorable air permeability (161.4 mm s−1 at 200 Pa) and efficient water vapor transmittance (118.9 g m−2 h). This work opens up a new avenue to fabricate versatile wearable devices for personal thermal management and health protection.

Abstract:Smart fibers capable of real-time multi-responses to external stimuli (e.g., thermal, electrical, mechanical, and humidity) and offering shielding from electromagnetic interference (EMI) as well as energy storage/conversion are essential units for wearable electronics and smart textiles. However, designing flexible and high-strength smart fibers with intelligent and integrative functions based on biomass resources is still a challenge. Herein, biodegradable, flexible, and high-strength (20.8 MPa) holocellulose nanofibrils/cellulose aerogel fibers (HCAFs) with high specific surface area (413 m 2 /g) and high porosity (85 %) are fabricated continuously and on large-scale via a nano-hybrid strategy and facile wet-spinning approach. The resulting smart textile woven with HCAFs exhibits excellent self-cleaning and thermal insulation performances over a wide temperature range. Furthermore, our fabricated holocellulose nanofibrils/carbon nanotubes/cellulose aerogel fiber (HCCAFs) textile shows outstanding thermal management and multifunctional sensing capabilities of human motions, temperature, humidity, and body fluid as well as EMI shielding performance. HCCAFs textile coupled with a thermoelectric generator can achieve highly efficient and reversible energy storage/conversion as well as solar-thermal-electrical power generation for power supply. The washing process has a negligible influence on mechanical properties, conductivity properties, and thermal insulation of the textile. These newly developed fibers represent very promising candidates for the next generation of wearable materials capable of multifunctional sensing, outstanding thermal insulation, high-quality thermal management, and power autonomy (e.g., in space suits).

Abstract:Wearable thermal management materials have attracted increasing attention because of the potential in energy conservation and the possibility to meet the need of smart clothes. An ideal cloth for cold areas has to be lightweight, warm, waterproof but breathable, and antibacterial. Herein, we present a multifunctional cloth starting from a cotton fabric, for which one side is modified to be superhydrophobic by introducing a silica nanoparticle/polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) layer, while the other side is coated with a nanoporous cellulose acetate layer followed by depositing a thin silver film. The porosity allows the fabric to be breathable, and the silver film plays three important roles as a perfect infrared reflector, a flexible heater, and an antibacterial layer. Such a multifunctional fabric might be potentially useful in outdoor coats and other facilities.

Abstract:Smart membranes with protection and thermal-wet comfort are highly demanded in various fields. Nevertheless, the existing membranes suffer from a tradeoff dilemma of liquid resistance and moisture permeability, as well as poor thermoregulating ability. Herein, a novel strategy, based on the synchronous occurrence of humidity-induced electrospinning and electromeshing, is developed to synthesize a dual-network structured nanofiber/mesh for personal comfort management. Manipulating the ejection, deformation, and phase separation of spinning jets and charged droplets enables the creation of nanofibrous membranes composed of radiative cooling nanofibers and 2D nanostructured meshworks. With a combination of a true-nanoscale fiber (∼70 nm) in 2D meshworks, a small pore size (0.84 μm), and a superhydrophobic surface (151.9°), the smart membranes present high liquid repellency (95.6 kPa), improved breathability (4.05 kg m<sup>-2</sup> d<sup>-1</sup>), and remarkable cooling performance (7.9 °C cooler than commercial cotton fabrics). This strategy opens up a pathway to the design of advanced smart textiles for personal protection.

Abstract:Advanced textiles for personal thermal management (PTM) are more precise and energy-saving than traditional heating/cooling strategies. Applying phase change materials (PCMs) in PTM is sustainable and effective but challenging due to the intrinsic rigid character of PCMs and the leakage issue in phase transition. In this work, we employed poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) as a functional material and poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) as a polymer skeleton by green electrospinning to endow the composite membranes with superior flexibility, breathability, and thermal regulation capability. The introduction of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) promoted the mechanical properties and thermal conductivity of the prepared membranes. The thermal conductivity of resultant membranes was enhanced by 40.4% with only 1.5% weight content of CNTs. Furthermore, surface chemical cross-linking was applied to improve water-resistance properties and minimize the confinement on the PEG segment. The prepared membranes have a reasonable temperature range (∼26.9–38.9 °C) in the phase change process with a melting latent heat of 60.1 J/g and freezing latent heat of 59.1 J/g as the mass ratio of PEG reached 55 wt %. These flexible fibrous membranes with optimal energy storage capacity and eco-friendly characteristics indicate they will be a promising candidate for personal thermal management.

Abstract:A novel personal thermal management textile with energy‐free PRH, energy‐saving solar heating, compensatory Joule heating, and electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding is proposed by simply sequentially growing polydopamine and silver nanoparticles on the cotton fabric. The personal thermal management textile exhibits terrific durability, and tunable heating mode, which ensures the long‐term, multi‐scene, and wide temperature ranges thermal comfort demands. In the face of increasingly variable cold climates and diverse individual temperature regulation demands, personal thermal management (PTM) textiles with electromagnetic shielding have obtained significant attention. However, the PTM textiles face several challenges, including single heating mode, insufficient durability, and complex preparation processes. Herein, an all‐day PTM textile Cotton@PDA/AgNPs (CPANS) with energy‐free PRH, energy‐saving solar heating, compensatory electrical heating, electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding, and outstanding durability is fabricated by sequentially growing polydopamine (PDA) and silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) on the cotton fabric (CF). The CPANS exhibits low mid‐infrared emissivity (36.6%) and high absorptivity (70.8%), which guarantees the energy‐saving heating capability. Moreover, the conductivity of the CPANS is ≈11109 S m−1, enabling an electrical heating temperature of ≈177 °C under a low voltage of 1.1 V and superb EMI shielding effectiveness (≈60 dB). The remarkable adhesive properties of the PDA ensure that the desired durability of the CPANS remains high even after rigorous physical treatments. This innovation shows enormous potential for wearable integrated garments in the future and offers a new ideal for PTM fabrics in the cold.

Abstract:Developing natural cotton textiles in personal thermal management applications is of great significance for defending human against adverse climate conditions. However, the intrinsic low optical energy conservation of cotton in terms of human mid-infrared radiation and solar spectrum prevents it from realizing high-efficient thermal retention. Herein, by leveraging a facile technique involving polydopamine (PDA)-assisted ion deposition, we firmly embed silver nanoparticles onto cotton fibers, creating silver-nanoprocessed cotton fabrics (Ag-fabric) with high human mid-infrared reflectivity and superior water/wear resistance. Meanwhile, the localized surface plasmon resonance effect of the PDA and silver nanoparticles contributes to high solar spectrum absorptivity. The as-prepared Ag-fabric demonstrates nearly 2 °C higher temperature compared to unadorned cotton fabrics due to enhanced human mid-infrared radiation, and the outdoor tests show a temperature increase of average 8 °C when covering artificial skin. Moreover, the uniformly distributed silver nanoparticles on hierarchically assembled cotton fibers endow the Ag-fabric with desirable Joule heating performance (~ 40.7 °C at 1 V), self-cleaning capacity, and antibacterial properties, while maintaining breathability and comfort. These merits of the Ag-fabric present promising advantages to transfer natural cotton into commercially available thermal management wearables and eco-textiles.

Abstract:Climate change has recently caused more and more severe temperatures, inducing a growing demand for personal thermal management at outdoors. However, designing textiles that can achieve personal thermoregulation without energy consumption in severely hot and cold environments remains a huge challenge. Herein, a hierarchically nanofibrous (HNF) textile with improved thermal insulation and radiative thermal management functions is fabricated for efficient personal thermal management in severe temperatures. The textile consists of a radiative cooling layer, an intermediate thermal insulation layer, and a radiative heating layer, wherein the porous lignocellulose aerogel membrane (LCAM) as intermediate layer has low thermal conductivity (0.0366 W·m-1·K-1), ensuring less heat loss in cold weather and blocking external heat in hot weather. The introduction of polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) increases the thermal emissivity (90.4%) of the radiative cooling layer in the atmospheric window and also endows it with a perfect self-cleaning performance. Solar absorptivity (80.1%) of the radiative heating layer is dramatically increased by adding only 0.05 wt% of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) into polyacrylonitrile. An outdoor test demonstrates that the HNF textile can achieve a temperature drop of 7.2 °C compared with white cotton in a hot environment and can be as high as 12.2 °C warmer than black cotton in a cold environment. In addition, the HNF textile possesses excellent moisture permeability, breathability, and directional perspiration performances, making it promising for personal thermal management in severely hot and cold environments.

Abstract:Air-permeable and flexible multifunctional textiles are highly desired for wearable electronics and portable device applications. However, fabricating textiles with novel multifunctionalities while maintaining their inherent porous and flexible characteristics still remains a challenge. Herein, a range of organic-inorganic hybrid materials were prepared via a surface engineering approach in an attempt to create air-permeable and flexible multifunctional cellulose-based textiles with superb bactericidal activities, thermal heating conversion, and electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding performances. The highly conductive MXene was decorated onto the polydopamine (PDA) modified cellulose nonwovens, followed by in-situ polymerization of glycidyl methacrylate (GMA). The resultant PGMA facilitated the covalently grafting of disinfecting agents and also protected the MXene from oxidation. The disinfecting agents, i.e., neomycin sulfate or guanidine-based polymer, rendered the textiles highly biocidal. The smart textile possesses excellent bactericidal efficacy of > 99.99% against both E. coli and S. aureus, exceptional heating performance (dual-driven energy conversion, fast thermal response, and wide temperature range), and outstanding EMI shielding efficiency of 38.6 dB in the X-band, while maintaining the satisfactory porosity and flexibility of green-based nonwovens. Evidently, such wearable multifunctional textiles are extremely promising for applications in bio-protection, thermal management, and EMI shielding, and are ideal candidates for future intelligent garments and healthcare devices.

A wearable textile that could simultaneously maximizing thermal insulation, facilitating evaporative cooling, and enhancing radiative cooling would play an important role for outdoor personal thermal and moisture management in high-temperature environments. However, developing such a textile with a relatively simple structure remains a huge challenge. Herein, a bilayer asymmetric wettability cooling membrane (BAWCM) textile composed of banana trees cellulose aerogel membrane (BTCAM) and thermoplastic polyurethane nanofibers doped with zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO-NPs/TPU) is prepared by freeze-drying and subsequent electrospinning. The BAWCM textile has good thermal insulation performance, thereby reducing heat input when the ambient temperature is higher than the human body temperature. Meanwhile, the textile possesses a high reflectance of 91.3 % in the 0.37–2.5 μm wavelength range and an infrared emissivity of 90.2 % in the 8–13 μm wavelength range. In outdoor test, it is demonstrated that the BAWCM textile can be as large as 9.3 °C cooler than cotton under direct sunlight. More importantly, the textile can effectively achieve directional perspiration to accelerate evaporative cooling, preventing sticky and hot sensation. Through the integration of excellent thermal insulation, enhanced radiative cooling, and continuous sweat wicking-drying capability, this novel textile exhibits significantly improved personal thermal and moisture management performances in high-temperature environments.

Abstract:Thermal management materials are widely employed in the construction and textile industries due to their non-energy input and the ability to precisely adjust the temperature. However, the application of thermal management technique toward sustainable agriculture is still challenging due to the complex environment. Herein, a coupled insulation system with highly asymmetric thermal conductivity and unidirectional water penetration is developed by using the integration of thermal management and water diodes technologies. The hierarchical membrane shows asymmetric thermal conductivity of carbonized cellulose layer (CCL, 0.64 W m −1 K −1 ) and Al 2 O 3 /cellulose layer (ACL, 0.16 W m −1 K −1 ), and good moisture permeability owing to the anisotropic wettability of the material and hierarchical structure design. Thermal management performance revealed that compared with PET and cellulose membrane, the membrane temperature increased by 4.1 °C and 1.3 °C, respectively, resulting in a decrease in greenhouse heat dissipation. Besides, benefitting from the efficient photothermal conversion performance of carbonized cellulose, the outside can rapidly warm up to 42 °C under 120 W/m 2 sun radiation, providing a suitable growth temperature for crops. Meanwhile, unidirectional water penetration achieved in the 60 s not only enables the membrane to maintain long-term and effective insulation, but also ensures the demand of crops for water during drought conditions. Furthermore, the anti-flaming property broadens the range of applications, reducing damage in an emergency such as a fire. The demonstrated membrane can potentially replace the commercial plastic-based greenhouse materials, and the gradient and bilayer design open a new avenue for sustainable thermal management application.

Abstract:Sugarcane, as one of the most important crops in the world, plays an important role in the economy around the world. However, huge waste and low treatment efficiency put forward new requirements for bagasse treatment. Herein, a wearable eco-friendly cellulose-based hybrid membrane was fabricated with a view to recycling bagasse. Specifically, the bagasse cellulose was extracted from waste bagasse, and the CNT/cellulose@Ag nanoparticles (CCAgNP) hybrid membrane was obtained by magnetron sputtering and blending method. The CNT/cellulose membrane obtained by doping CNTs in cellulose dispersion suspension is abbreviated as CCM. The results indicated that benefiting from the high infrared reflectance (0.82) of the AgNP side and the fast absorbance (1.5) of the CCM side, the CCAgNP can achieve a dual thermal insulation due to the synergistic effect of two sides of the membrane. In addition, the asymmetric wettability of both sides of the hybrid membrane enables sweat to be transported unidirectionally, keeps the skin on the surface of the human body dry, and achieves wearing comfort. More importantly, the hybrid membrane also shows the excellent antibacterial property, air permeability, mechanical property and thermal stability, providing good support for the practical application of the hybrid membrane. This study shows that the fabrication of hybrid membranes with integrated functionalities can be extended for the fabrication of other wearable materials from agricultural wastes for various applications.

Abstract:In the face of changing outdoor environments, it is necessary for us to develop advanced textiles with thermal regulation and hydrophobic properties. In order to create a fabric with both temperature control and waterproof properties, the study adjusted the ratio of polystyrene (PS) and polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) to produce nanofiber membranes with excellent morphology and dirt resistant properties. Furthermore, the hydrophobicity of the nanofibers was further improved by adding SiO2 to the spinning solution. Based on this, a core solution of octadecane (Oct) was used to give it thermal regulation functionality through coaxial electrospinning technique. The resulting composite nanofiber membrane exhibited excellent hydrophobicity and thermal regulation performance. The measurement results obtained from Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) indicate that the maximum Oct encapsulation rate of the PS/PVDF/SiO2@Oct nanofiber membrane is 58.36%. The latent heat of the composite nanofiber membrane is 148.84 J/g, and the water contact angle (WCA) is 135°. The multifunctional composite nanofiber has great potential for applications in outdoor protective clothing and outdoor electronic device protection.

Abstract:To prepare wearable heated fabric with effective photothermal conversion property for human thermotherapy, silver (Ag) and gold nanoparticles (Au NPs) with thermoplasmonic effect were hierarchically deposited on the cellulose fabric through spray-assisted self-assembly technique, and thus fabricated Ag/Au NPs composite-coated fabric with compactly arranged nanostructures. The surface morphology of Ag/Au NPs-coated fabric was observed by scanning electron microscope (SEM), the light absorption ability was characterized through ultraviolet–visible–near infrared (UV–Vis–NIR) spectra and the correspondingly calculated optical absorbed power, and the photothermal effect was monitored by photothermal conversion test under simulated and natural solar irradiation, respectively. The results showed that the different-sized Ag and Au NPs were distributed randomly on the surface of cellulose fibers, and the small Au NPs were deposited densely in the gaps between large-sized Ag NPs. The composite-coated fabric exhibited the characteristic plasmonic peaks from Ag and Au NPs and enhanced the spectral absorption ability in the UV–Vis–NIR wavelength range, and the surface temperature of the composite-coated fabric reached ~ 48 °C under solar irradiation of 1 kW m −2 , and thus improved photothermal conversion performance with Δ T ~ 20 °C compared with pristine fabric. Furthermore, the composite coatings deposited on fabric displayed favorable photothermal stability under cyclic utilization and washing treatment, as wells as the good thermochromic performance for temperature indication. The exploration of the composite-coated fabric with photothermal effect provides a feasible strategy for wearable thermotherapy application.

Abstract:This work focuses on developing multifunctional wearable fabrics, specifically targeting the challenge of flammability in this context. An eco-friendly, asymmetrically structured nylon/cotton blend fabric is prepared through the surface modification of phytic acid-induced polyaniline, the application of silver nanowires (AgNWs) and MXene on both sides and encapsulated by polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS). The AgNWs coating suppresses thermal radiation from the human body to achieve radiative heating, while the MXene coating enhances solar heating, ensuring thermal comfort in cold conditions. The treated fabric also exhibits electrical heating for heat compensation in the absence of sunlight, remarkable EMI shielding performance (55.6 dB) is also achieved. Enhanced fire safety is demonstrated as the treated fabric extinguishes when exposed to flame, reducing heat release by 45.9 % relative to the control nylon/cotton blend fabric (CO/NY). Additionally, the treated fabric exhibits significant antibacterial properties against Gram-negative E. coli and Gram-positive S. aureus , along with a notable water contact angle (WCA) of 130.2°. This work provides a promising method for the development of eco-friendly wearable smart fabrics with well-balanced desirable properties.
