Abstract:Plant pathogens deliver effectors to alter host processes. Knowledge of how effectors target and manipulate host proteins is critical to understand crop disease. Here, we show that in planta expression of the RXLR effector Pi04314 enhances leaf colonization by Phytophthora infestans via activity in the host nucleus and attenuates induction of jasmonic and salicylic acid-responsive genes. Pi04314 interacts with three host protein phosphatase 1 catalytic (PP1c) isoforms, causing their re-localization from the nucleolus to the nucleoplasm. Re-localization of PP1c-1 also occurs during infection and is dependent on an R/KVxF motif in the effector. Silencing the PP1c isoforms or overexpression of a phosphatase-dead PP1c-1 mutant attenuates infection, demonstrating that host PP1c activity is required for disease. Moreover, expression of PP1c-1mut abolishes enhanced leaf colonization mediated by in planta Pi04314 expression. We argue that PP1c isoforms are susceptibility factors forming holoenzymes with Pi04314 to promote late blight disease.

Abstract:Abstract— The sunburn cell (SC) is a type of individual cell death appearing in epidermis principally after exposure to middle‐wavelength UV radiation (UVR). Because SCs can easily be recognized by histologic characteristics, they may provide a countable index of assessment of the degree of UVR injuries. However, despite extensive investigations, the mode of formation of this UVR‐induced apoptosis has not fully been understood. In this review article, we are summarizing the results of recent studies with special reference to both the formation mechanisms and their implications in the field of photobiology.

Abstract:Phytophthora infestans, a highly destructive plant oomycete pathogen, is responsible for causing late blight in potatoes worldwide. To successfully infect host cells and evade immunity, P. infestans secretes various effectors into host cells and exclusively targets the host nucleus. However, the precise mechanisms by which these effectors manipulate host gene expression and reprogram defenses remain poorly understood. In this study, we focused on a nuclear-targeted effector, Pi07586, which has been implicated in immune suppression. Quantitative real-time PCR (qRT-PCR) analysis showed Pi07586 was significant up-regulation during the early stages of infection. Agrobacterium-induced transient expression revealed that Pi07586 localized in the nucleus of leaf cells. Overexpression of Pi07586 resulted in increased leaf colonization by P. infestans. RNA-seq analysis revealed that Pi07586 effectively suppressed the expression of PR-1C-like and photosynthetic antenna protein genes. Furthermore, high-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (HPLC-MS) analysis indicated that Pi07586 overexpression led to a substantial decrease in abscisic acid (ABA), jasmonic acid (JA), and jasmonoyl-isoleucine (JA-Ile) levels, while not affecting salicylic acid (SA) and indole-3-acetic acid (IAA) production. These findings shed new light on the modulation of plant immunity by Pi07586 and enhance our understanding of the intricate relationship between P. infestans and host plants.

Cross-kingdom RNA Interference Mediated by Insect Salivary Micrornas May Suppress Plant Immunity

Abstract:Communication between insects and plants relies on the exchange of bioactive molecules that traverse the species interface. Although proteinic effectors have been extensively studied, our knowledge of other molecules involved in this process remains limited. In this study, we investigate the role of salivary microRNAs (miRNAs) from the rice planthopper Nilaparvata lugens in suppressing plant immunity. A total of three miRNAs were confirmed to be secreted into host plants during insect feeding. Notably, the sequence-conserved miR-7-5P is specifically expressed in the salivary glands of N. lugens and is secreted into saliva, distinguishing it significantly from homologues found in other insects. Silencing miR-7-5P negatively affects N. lugens feeding on rice plants, but not on artificial diets. The impaired feeding performance of miR-7-5P-silenced insects can be rescued by transgenic plants overexpressing miR-7-5P. Through target prediction and experimental testing, we demonstrate that miR-7-5P targets multiple plant genes, including the immune-associated bZIP transcription factor 43 (OsbZIP43). Infestation of rice plants by miR-7-5P-silenced insects leads to the increased expression of OsbZIP43 , while the presence of miR-7-5P counteracts this upregulation effect. Furthermore, overexpressing OsbZIP43 confers plant resistance against insects which can be subverted by miR-7-5P. Our findings suggest a mechanism by which herbivorous insects have evolved salivary miRNAs to suppress plant immunity, expanding our understanding of cross-kingdom RNA interference between interacting organisms.
The RXLR effector PpE18 of Phytophthora parasitica is a virulence factor and suppresses peroxisome membrane‐associated ascorbate peroxidase NbAPX3‐1‐mediated plant immunity

Abstract:Summary Phytophthora parasitica causes diseases on a broad range of host plants. It secretes numerous effectors to suppress plant immunity. However, only a few virulence effectors in P. parasitica have been characterized. Here, we highlight that PpE18, a conserved RXLR effector in P. parasitica, was a virulence factor and suppresses Nicotiana benthamiana immunity. Utilizing luciferase complementation, co‐immunoprecipitation, and GST pull‐down assays, we determined that PpE18 targeted NbAPX3‐1, a peroxisome membrane‐associated ascorbate peroxidase with reactive oxygen species (ROS)‐scavenging activity and positively regulates plant immunity in N. benthamiana. We show that the ROS‐scavenging activity of NbAPX3‐1 was critical for its immune function and was hindered by the binding of PpE18. The interaction between PpE18 and NbAPX3‐1 resulted in an elevation of ROS levels in the peroxisome. Moreover, we discovered that the ankyrin repeat‐containing protein NbANKr2 acted as a positive immune regulator, interacting with both NbAPX3‐1 and PpE18. NbANKr2 was required for NbAPX3‐1‐mediated disease resistance. PpE18 competitively interfered with the interaction between NbAPX3‐1 and NbANKr2, thereby weakening plant resistance. Our results reveal an effective counter‐defense mechanism by which P. parasitica employed effector PpE18 to suppress host cellular defense, by suppressing biochemical activity and disturbing immune function of NbAPX3‐1 during infection.

A Host KH RNA-Binding Protein Is a Susceptibility Factor Targeted by an RXLR Effector to Promote Late Blight Disease

Abstract:Plant pathogens deliver effector proteins that alter host processes to create an environment conducive to colonization. Attention has focused on identifying the targets of effectors and how their manipulation facilitates disease. RXLR effector Pi04089 from the potato blight pathogen Phytophthora infestans accumulates in the host nucleus and enhances colonization when transiently expressed in planta. Its nuclear localization is required for enhanced P. infestans colonization. Pi04089 interacts in yeast and in planta with a putative potato K-homology (KH) RNA-binding protein, StKRBP1. Co-localization of Pi04089 and StKRBP1, and bimolecular fluorescence complementation between them, indicate they associate at nuclear speckles. StKRBP1 protein levels increased when it was co-expressed with Pi04089. Indeed, such accumulation of StKRBP1 was observed also on the first day of leaf colonization by the pathogen. Remarkably, overexpression of StKRBP1 significantly enhances P. infestans infection. Mutation of the nucleotide-binding motif GxxG to GDDG in all three KH domains of StKRBP1 abolishes its interaction with Pi04089, its localization to nuclear speckles, and its increased accumulation when co-expressed with the effector. Moreover, the mutant StKRBP1 protein no longer enhances leaf colonization by P. infestans, implying that nucleotide binding is likely required for this activity. We thus argue that StKRBP1 can be regarded as a susceptibility factor, as its activity is beneficial to the pathogen.

Abstract:Plant pathogens compromise crop yields. Plants have evolved robust innate immunity that depends in part on intracellular Nucleotide-binding, Leucine rich-Repeat (NLR) immune receptors that activate defense responses upon detection of pathogen-derived effectors. Most "sensor" NLRs that detect effectors require the activity of "helper" NLRs, but how helper NLRs support sensor NLR function is poorly understood. Many Solanaceae NLRs require NRC (NLR-Required for Cell death) class of helper NLRs. We show here that Rpi-amr3, a sensor NLR from Solanum americanum, detects AVRamr3 from the potato late blight pathogen, Phytophthora infestans, and activates oligomerization of helper NLRs NRC2 and NRC4 into high-molecular-weight resistosomes. In contrast, recognition of P. infestans effector AVRamr1 by another sensor NLR Rpi-amr1 induces formation of only the NRC2 resistosome. The activated NRC2 oligomer becomes enriched in membrane fractions. ATP-binding motifs of both Rpi-amr3 and NRC2 are required for NRC2 resistosome formation, but not for the interaction of Rpi-amr3 with its cognate effector. NRC2 resistosome can be activated by Rpi-amr3 upon detection of AVRamr3 homologs from other Phytophthora species. Mechanistic understanding of NRC resistosome formation will underpin engineering crops with durable disease resistance.
Plasmopara Viticola Effector PvRXLR53 Suppresses Innate Immunity in Nicotiana Benthamiana

Abstract:Plasmopara viticola, the casual oomycete of grapevine downy mildew, could cause yield loss and compromise berry quantity. Previously, we have identified several PvRXLR effectors that could suppress plant immunity to promote infection and disease development. In this study, the role of effector, PvRXLR53, in plant-microbe interaction was investigated. PvRXLR53 has several orthologs in other oomycetes and contains a functional signal peptide. Expression level of PvRXLR53 was already detected upon inoculation, further induced in the early stage after P. viticola inoculation and decreased to low level in the late infection stage in grapevine (Vitis vinifera 'Cabernet Sauvignon'). PvRXLR53 is localized in both nucleus and cytoplasm. When transiently expressed in Nicotiana benthamiana, PvRXLR53 suppressed oomycete elicitor INF1-triggered programmed cell death and defense gene expression, and Phytophthora capsici-induced reactive oxygen species production (ROS) and eventually resistance to P. capsici. In summary, these findings suggest that P. viticola secretes PvRXLR53 to suppress host immunity from the very early stage of infection.

Abstract:BACKGROUND:The effector AvrPiz-t of Magnaporthe oryzae has virulence function in rice. However, the mechanism underlying its virulence in host is not fully understood.RESULTS:In this study, we analyzed the function of AvrPiz-t interacting protein 12 (APIP12) in rice immunity. APIP12 significantly bound to AvrPiz-t and APIP6 in its middle portion and N-terminus, respectively, in yeast two-hybrid assay. Glutathione S-transferase (GST) pull-down assay further verified the interactions of APIP12 with AvrPiz-t and APIP6. APIP12 encodes a homologue of nucleoporin protein Nup98 without the conserved domain of Phe-Gly repeats and has no orthologue in other plants. Both knockout and knockdown of APIP12 caused enhanced susceptibility of rice plants to virulent isolates of M. oryzae. The expression of some pathogenesis-related (PR) genes was reduced in both knockout and knockdown mutants, suggesting that APIP12 is required for the accumulation of transcripts of PR genes upon the infection. It is worth noting that neither knockout/knockdown nor overexpression of APIP12 attenuates Piz-t resistance.CONCLUSIONS:Taken together, our results demonstrate that APIP12 is a virulence target of AvrPiz-t and is involved in the basal resistance against M. oryzae in rice.

Abstract:The ubiquitin/26S proteasome system plays a vital role in regulating host defenses against pathogens. Previous studies have highlighted different roles for the ubiquitin/26S proteasome in defense during virus infection in both mammals and plants, but their role in the vectors that transmit those viruses is still unclear. In this study, we determined that the 26S proteasome is present in the small brown planthopper (SBPH) (Laodelphgax striatellus) and has components similar to those in plants and mammals. There was an increase in the accumulation of Rice stripe virus (RSV) in the transmitting vector SBPH after disrupting the 26S proteasome, indicating that the SBPH 26S proteasome plays a role in defense against RSV infection by regulating RSV accumulation. Yeast two-hybrid analysis determined that a subunit of the 26S proteasome, named RPN3, could interact with RSV NS3. Transient overexpression of RPN3 had no effect on the RNA silencing suppressor activity of RSV NS3. However, NS3 could inhibit the ability of SBPH rpn3 to complement an rpn3 mutation in yeast. Our findings also indicate that the direct interaction between RPN3 and NS3 was responsible for inhibiting the complementation ability of RPN3. In vivo, we found an accumulation of ubiquitinated protein in SBPH tissues where the RSV titer was high, and silencing of rpn3 resulted in malfunction of the SBPH proteasome-mediated proteolysis. Consequently, viruliferous SBPH in which RPN3 was repressed transmitted the virus more effectively as a result of higher accumulation of RSV. Our results suggest that the RSV NS3 protein is able to hijack the 26S proteasome in SBPH via a direct interaction with the RPN3 subunit to attenuate the host defense response. IMPORTANCE We show, for the first time, that the 26S proteasome components are present in the small brown planthopper and play a role in defense against its vectored plant virus (RSV). In turn, RSV encodes a protein that subverts the SBPH 26S proteasome via direct interaction with the 26S proteasome subunit RPN3. Our results imply that the molecular arms race observed in plant hosts can be extended to the insect vector that transmits those viruses.
Plasmopara Viticola Effector PvRXLR159 Suppresses Immune Responses in Nicotiana Benthamiana

Abstract:Plasmopara viticola, the causal oomycete of grapevine downy mildew disease, secrets a series of RXLR effectors to manipulate host immunity. In this study, we characterized the role of a RXLR effector of P. viticola, PvRXLR159, in plant-microbe interaction. Transcription of PvRXLR159 in P. viticola was induced in the early stage of infection in grapevine (Vitis vinifera 'Thomson Seedless'). Further results revealed that PvRXLR159 contains a functional signal peptide and its C terminus was essential to inhibit cell death by elicitors, INF1 and BAX, in Nicotiana benthamiana. Transient expression of PvRXLR159 suppressed N. benthamiana resistance to a pathogenic oomycete, Phytophthora capsici. Taken together, we propose that PvRXLR159 is induced and secreted by P. viticola to suppress host resistance.

Abstract:Phosphatidylinositol 3-phosphate (PtdIns(3)P) has been reported to regulate different physiological processes in plants. PtdIns(3)P is synthesised by the phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (PI3K) complex which includes common subunits of vacuolar protein sorting (VPS)15, VPS30 and VPS34. Here, we characterised the roles of the important genes NbVPS15, -30 and -34 encoding PI3K components during interactions between Nicotiana benthamiana and Phytophthora pathogens. NbVPS15 and NbVPS34 were upregulated during infection, and plants deficient in these two genes displayed higher resistance to two different Phytophthora pathogens. Silencing NbVPS15 and NbVPS34 decreased the content of PtdIns(3)P in plant cells and the stability of three RxLR (containing the characteristic amino-terminal motif of arginine-X-leucine-arginine, X is any amino acid) effectors. Furthermore, NbVPS15, -30 and -34 were essential for autolysosome formation during Phytophthora capsici infection and limiting programmed cell death (PCD) induced by effectors and elicitors. Taken together, these findings suggest that NbVPS15 and NbVPS34 play a critical role in the resistance of N. benthamiana to Phytophthora pathogens by regulating PtdIns(3)P contents and host PCD.

Abstract:In this chapter, we review the experience gained in the burn unit treatment of two of the severe exfoliating disorders, toxic epidermal necrolysis (TEN) and the Stevens-Johnson syndrome (SJS). Septic mortality was higher if high doses of corticosteroids were given versus the current protocol, which avoids these drugs. Current controversies include the role of topical therapy, leukopenia, and invasive catheters in septic complications as well as nutritional requirements. Concomitant viral infection and the macrophage may each play a role in the etiology of TEN and SJS.

Abstract:Ralstonia solanacearum causes lethal bacterial wilt diseases in numerous crops, resulting in considerable yield losses. Harnessing genetic resistance is desirable for safeguarding plants against phytopathogens. However, genetic resources resistant to bacterial wilt are limited in crops. RipE1, a conserved type III effector with cysteine protease activity, is recognized in Nicotiana benthamiana and Arabidopsis (Arabidopsis thaliana). Here, using a virus-induced gene silencing approach, we identified the gene encoding N. benthamiana homologue of Ptr1 (NbPtr1a), a coiled-coil nucleotide-binding leucine-rich repeat receptor (NLR) recognizing RipE1. Silencing or editing NbPtr1a completely abolished RipE1-induced cell death, indicating recognition of RipE1 by NbPtr1a. Genetic complementation confirmed this recognition, which is conserved across multiple solanaceous plants. Expression of RipE1 in planta or within pathogenic bacteria promoted pathogen colonization of Nbptr1a mutant plants, demonstrating its virulence function independent of NLR recognition. Silencing NbRIN4 enhanced RipE1-induced cell death, while expressing NbRIN4 inhibited it, suggesting that NbRIN4 is involved in recognition of NbPtr1a–RipE1. Furthermore, RipE1 associated with and cleaved NbRIN4, AtRIN4, and tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) SlRIN4 proteins through its cysteine protease activity. Silencing NbRIN4 in Nbptr1a mutants did not prevent RipE1 from promoting pathogen colonization, suggesting that NbRIN4 is not the primary target for RipE1-mediated virulence. Additionally, NbRIN4 suppressed self-association of the coiled-coil domain of NbPtr1a, which is critical for NbPtr1a-mediated cell death and resistance. Finally, we demonstrated that activation of NbPtr1a requires RipE1-mediated elimination of NbRIN4. Given the conserved nature of RipE1, Ptr1 holds great potential for protecting crops from diverse R. solanacearum strains and other distinct pathogens.

Abstract:Oomycete pathogens deliver many effectors to enhance virulence or suppress plant immunity. Plant immune networks are interconnected, in which a few effectors can trigger a strong defense response when recognized by immunity-related proteins. How effectors activate plant defense response remains poorly understood. Here we report Phytophthora capsici effector RxLR23KM can induce plant cell death and plant immunity. RxLR23KM specifically binds to ERD15La, a regulator of abscisic acid and salicylic acid pathway, and the binding intensity depends on the amino acid residues (K93 and M320). NbNAC68, a downstream protein of ERD15La, can stimulate plant immunity that is compromised after binding with ERD15La. Silencing of NbNAC68 substantially prevents the activation of plant defense response. RxLR23KM binds to ERD15La, releasing NbNAC68 to activate plant immunity. These findings highlight a strategy of plant defense response that ERD15La as a central regulator coordinates RxLR23KM to regulate NbNAC68-triggered plant immunity.

Abstract:SUMMARY The potato's most devastating disease is late blight, which is caused by Phytophthora infestans. Whereas various resistance (R) genes are known, most are typically defeated by this fast‐evolving oomycete pathogen. However, the broad‐spectrum and durable R8 is a vital gene resource for potato resistance breeding. To support an educated deployment of R8, we embarked on a study on the corresponding avirulence gene Avr8. We overexpressed Avr8 by transient and stable transformation and found that Avr8 promotes colonization of P. infestans in Nicotiana benthamiana and potato, respectively. A yeast‐2‐hybrid (Y2H) screen showed that AVR8 interacts with a desumoylating isopeptidase (StDeSI2) of potato. We overexpressed DeSI2 and found that DeSI2 positively regulates resistance to P. infestans, while silencing StDeSI2 downregulated the expression of a set of defense‐related genes. By using a specific proteasome inhibitor, we found that AVR8 destabilized StDeSI2 through the 26S proteasome and attenuated early PTI responses. Altogether, these results indicate that AVR8 manipulates desumoylation, which is a new strategy that adds to the plethora of mechanisms that Phytophthora exploits to modulate host immunity, and StDeSI2 provides a new target for durable resistance breeding against P. infestans in potato.

Abstract:MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are small noncoding RNAs in eukaryotes. Plant endogenous miRNAs play pivotal roles in regulating plant development and defense responses. MicroRNA394 (miR394) has been reported to regulate plant development, abiotic stresses and defense responses. Previous reports showed that miR394 responded to P. infestans inoculation in potato, indicating that miR394 may be involved in defense responses. In this study, we further investigated its role in potato defense against P. infestans. Stable expression of miR394 in tobacco and potato enhances the susceptibility to P. infestans, which is accompanied with the reduced accumulation of ROS and down‐regulation of the PTI (pattern‐triggered immunity) marker genes. Besides well‐known target StLCR, miR394 also targets StA/N‐INVE, which encodes a chloroplast Alkaline/Neutral Invertases (A/N‐INVE). Both StLCR and StA/N‐INVE positively regulate late blight resistance, while miR394 degrades them. Interestingly, StA/N‐INVE is located in the chloroplast, indicating that miR394 may manipulate chloroplast immunity. Degradation of StA/N‐INVE may affect the chloroplast function and hence lead to the compromised ROS (reactive oxygen species) burst and reduced retrograde signaling from the chloroplast to the nucleus and cytoplasm. In summary, this study provides new information that miR394 targets and degrades StA/N‐INVE and StLCR, which are positive regulators, to enhance potato susceptibility to P. infestans.

Abstract:Plant pathogens compromise crop yields. Plants have evolved robust innate immunity that depends in part on intracellular Nucleotide-binding, Leucine Rich-Repeat (NLR) immune receptors that activate defense responses upon detection of pathogen-derived effectors. Most “sensor” NLRs that detect effectors require the activity of “helper” NLRs, but how helper NLRs support sensor NLR function is poorly understood. Many Solanaceae NLRs require the NRC (NLR-Required for Cell death) class of helper NLRs. We show here that Rpi-amr3, a sensor NLR from Solanum americanum , detects AVRamr3 from the potato late blight pathogen, Phytophthora infestans , and activates oligomerization of the helper NLR NRC2 into a high-molecular weight resistosome. The NRC2 resistosome also forms upon recognition of P. infestans effector AVRamr1 by another sensor NLR, Rpi-amr1. The ATP-binding motif of Rpi-amr3 is required for NRC2 resistosome formation, but not for interaction with the cognate effector. The NRC2 resistosome can be activated by AVRamr3 homologs from other Phytophthora species. Abstract:Objective: The aim of this study was to analyze the trend of incidence, clinicopathological characteristics and therapy of young (less than 40 years old) patients with advanced lung adenocarcinoma, and to identify the prognostic factors. Methods: The clinical data of 198 young patients with advanced lung adenocarcinoma were collected from the Cancer hospital and Institute of Chinese academy of Medical Sciences from January 2001 to June 2012. To analyze the trend of incidence, clinicopathological characteristics and therapy and evaluate the independent prognostic factors affecting survival time with Cox proportional hazards model. Results: From 2001 to 2012, the incidence of lung adenocarcinoma in young patients was increased year by year. Among the 198 patients, 92 were males and 106 were females. Their age was from 20 to 40 with a median age of 34 years. Most patients had poorly differentiated adenocarcinoma (46.7%) whereas 36.7% of the cases had moderately differentiated tumor. Among the 198 patients, there were 25 patients with stage ⅢB (12.6%) and 173 (87.4%) cases of stage Ⅳ cancer.The 1-, 3- and 5-year survival rates were 70.7%, 21.6% and 10.3%, respectively. Among the198 cases, patients who received epidermal growth factor receptor-tyrosine kinase inhibitor (EGFR-TKI) therapy, the median OS (25.6 months) was significantly longer than that of patients who never received EGFR-TKI therapy (13.3 months)(P<0.001). Since 2009, the number of cases detected for EGFR gene was gradually increased, and the median OS of patients diagnosed from 2010 to 2012 was 22 months, significantly higher than that of 16 months of patients diagnosed during 2001-2009 (P=0.019). The Cox regression analysis showed that the performance status, extra-pulmonary metastasis and whether received EGFR-TKI therapy were independent prognostic factors. Conclusions: The incidence rate of lung adenocarcinoma in young patients has an increasing trend. They have a high proportion of women and of poor differentiation. The patients can get benefits from EGFR-TKI therapy. Mutivariate Cox regression analysis shows that the performance status, extra-pulmonary metastasis and whether received EGFR-TKI therapy are independent prognostic factors for young patients with advanced lung adenocarcinoma.
An RxLR effector from Plasmopara viticola suppresses plant immunity in grapevine by targeting and stabilizing VpBPA1

Abstract:SUMMARY Grapevine downy mildew, caused by Plasmopara viticola, is one of the most devastating diseases in viticulture. P. viticola secretes RxLR effectors to modulate immune responses in grapevine. Here, we report an RxLR effector RxLR50253 from P. viticola that can interfere with plant immune response and thus promote pathogen colonization. RxLR50253 was induced at an early stage of P. viticola infection and could suppress elicitor (INF1 and Bax)‐triggered cell death. RxLR50253 promote pathogen colonization in both tobacco and grapevine leaves. VpBPA1 was found to be the host target of RxLR50253 by Y2H screening, and interaction between RxLR50253 and VpBPA1 was confirmed by multiple in vivo and in vitro assays. Further analysis revealed that VpBPA1 promoted pathogen colonization and decreased H2O2 accumulation in transgenic tobacco and grapevine, while there was enhanced resistance and H2O2 accumulation in NbBPA1‐silenced N. benthamiana leaves. Moreover, transient expression of VpBPA1 in NbBPA1‐silenced N. benthamiana leaves could reduce the accumulation of H2O2. Experiments in vivo demonstrated that RxLR50253 inhibits degradation of VpBPA1. Taken together, our findings showed that RxLR50253 targets and stabilizes VpBPA1 to attenuate plant immunity through decreasing H2O2 accumulation during pathogen infection.
