Abstract:Background: Head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) is common, and its incidence is increasing, particularly in HIV-infected individuals who present with more aggressive disease. Despite aggressive treatment, the prognosis remains poor because of resistance to chemoradiation therapy. So far, studies report very low [68Ga]Ga-Pentixafor avidity in HNSCC. This study investigated the diagnostic performance of CXCR4-directed imaging of carcinoma of the oral cavity, oropharynx, and nasopharynx with positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) using the radiolabelled chemokine ligand [68Ga]Ga-Pentixafor and explored its ability to quantify CXCR4 expression in vivo. Materials and methods: In this prospective cross-sectional study, twenty-three (23) patients aged 52.9 ± 10.4 (19.6), 17 males and 6 females with primarily diagnosed (n = 17) or pre-treated (n = 6) SCC of the oral cavity (OCSCC, n = 11), oropharynx (OPSCC, n = 9), nasopharynx (NPSCC, n = 2) and unknown primary (n = 1) underwent imaging with [68Ga]Ga-Pentixafor-PET/CT. In 16/23 patients 2-[18F]fluoro-2-deoxy-D-glucose ([18F]F-FDG) served as a standard reference. All lesions were visually rated using a 5-point Likert scale. For both tracers, maximum standardized uptake values (SUVmax) and the total lesion uptake (TLU) were recorded and compared using the Wilcox-signed rank test. In addition, the tumor-to-background ratios were derived using the liver (TLR), spleen (TSR), and posterior cervical muscles (TMR) as background. The relationships between the SUVs of the two tracers were assessed using the Spearman correlation. CXCR4 immunohistochemistry (IHC) staining was correlated with 68Ga-Pentixafor-PET/CT in 21/23 patients. Results: Ninety-one percent (21/23) of tumors were visually detected on [68Ga]Ga-Pentixafor; however, [68Ga]Ga-Pentixafor was less intense compared with [18F]F-FDG-PET. Quantitative analysis showed higher [18F]F-FDG SUVmax in comparison with [68Ga]Ga-Pentixafor (16 ± 6.7 vs. 5.8 ± 2.6 g/mL, p = 0.011) and SUVmean (9.3 ± 4.1 vs. 3± 1.6 g/mL, p < 0.001) and TBR 4.9 ± 2.3 vs. 2.36 ± 1.4 p = 0.014. Nasopharyngeal cancer demonstrated more intense tracer accumulation than oropharyngeal and oral cavity malignancies. CXCR4 IHC staining was positive in 15/21 patients, and there was a statistically significant correlation between IHC staining and [68Ga]Ga-Pentixafor SUVmean r = 0.5 p = 0.027, and performance status r = 0.83 p = 0.0104. Conclusions: In conclusion, although [68Ga]Ga-Pentixafor cannot replace [18F]F-FDG as a diagnostic tool because of its lower avidity, the correlation between CXCR4 targeted 68Ga-Pentixafor PET imaging and CXCR4 IHC staining indicates the potential of 68Ga-Pentixafor as an effective tool for selecting patients who may benefit from therapies targeting CXCR4. In addition, [68Ga]Ga-Pentixafor has no physiological brown fat uptake, which often obscures cervical lesions on [18F]F-FDG PET/CT imaging.

Abstract:Purpose: The purpose of this study is to assess the potential of F-18-fluorodeoxyglucose ((18)FDG) positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) imaging for the diagnosis of cervical metastasis of carcinoma of an unknown primary tumor (CUP) and to determine whether the maximum standardized uptake value (SUVmax) is a prognostic factor. Methods: Twenty-five consecutive patients with cervical metastasis of CUP were retrospectively analyzed by PET/CT between July 2007 and July 2011. Results: FDG PET/CT suggested a primary tumor in 21 out of 25 patients (84.0%). The sensitivity of FDG PET/CT in detecting the primary tumor was 73.3% (11 of 15), and the positive predictive value was 52.4% (11 of 21). The median follow-up duration of survival patients was 10.4 months (range: 0-30 months). The estimated 2-year overall survival rate of all patients was 50.0%. Univariate analyses did not reveal a significant difference in overall survival between the group of 11 patients identified by pathology and the 14 patients not identified by pathology (overall survival was 57.1% and 49.1%, respectively; p = 0.468). The median SUVmax was 7.6. In the log-rank test, patients with a low SUVmax (<= 7.0) in cervical lymph nodes had a significantly higher survival rate at 2 years (87.5% vs. 21.2%; p = 0.007) than patients with a high SUVmax (>7.0). Conclusions: Although our study was inconclusive due to the small sample size, our results suggest that FDG PET/CT may be an effective diagnostic workup in the cervical metastasis of carcinoma from an unknown primary tumor (UPT). In the present study, SUVmax of PET/CT in the cervical lymph node may serve as a prognostic factor of cervical metastasis of carcinoma from a UPT based on the limited number of patients. Further studies are needed to confirm these findings.

Abstract:BACKGROUNDInitial results suggest that PET imaging of the chemokine receptor CXCR4 is of considerable interest for differential diagnosis and theranostic approaches. Here, we summarized findings of CXCR4 PET imaging in an institutional series of lymphoma of the central nervous system (CNSL) and glioma. METHODSTwenty-three patients with CNSL and 16 patients with glioma (IDH-wildtype, n=9) underwent PET imaging using the CXCR4-directed tracer [ 68 Ga]Ga-Pentixafor. In 18 patients, serial PET imaging was performed (range, 2-14 scans), resulting in a total of 104 PET scans. For evaluation, PET scans were classified as [ 68 Ga]Ga-Pentixafor-positive and -negative visually, and the maximum standardized uptake value (SUV max ) was obtained from [ 68 Ga]Ga-Pentixafor-PET. RESULTSTwenty-four of all 39 patients (62%) had at least one [ 68 Ga]Ga-Pentixafor-positive PET (CNSL, 57%; glioma, 69%). [ 68 Ga]Ga-Pentixafor-positive PET scans were more common in patients with IDH-wildtype gliomas (89%) than in IDH-mutant gliomas (43%). In patients with [ 68 Ga]Ga-Pentixafor-positive PET, the average SUV max was 6.4±4.0 in CNSL, and 3.4±1.0 in gliomas (P=0.155). Besides visualization of tumors, [ 68 Ga]Ga-Pentixafor uptake was observed in two patients with radionecrosis. In four CNSL patients who had undergone methotrexate/cytarabine-based first-line therapy, serial PET revealed a significant reduction of SUV max after chemotherapy completion (average decrease of SUV max from 4.5±3.8 to 0.6±0.7; P =0.044). In three of those four patients, tumor progression has not been reached (range of time after the follow-up PET, 4-55 months); one patient deceased 44 months after the follow-up PET. In contrast, another patient with an increase in SUV max from 6.9 to 11.0 after first-line treatment died one month after the follow-up PET. DISCUSSION[ 68 Ga]Ga-Pentixafor PET seems to be of value for non-invasively visualizing and quantifying CXCR4 receptor binding. In CNSL, changes in [ 68 Ga]Ga-Pentixafor uptake following therapy may indicate potential for response assessment. CXCR4-targeting radioligand therapies might be more promising in CNSL than in glioma.

Abstract:Abstract Background Expression of CXCR4, a chemokine (C-X-C motif) receptor that plays a central role in tumor growth and metastasis of circulating tumor cells, has been described in a variety of solid tumors. A high expression of CXCR4 has a prognostic significance with regard to overall and progression-free survival and offers a starting point for targeted therapies. In this context, [68]Ga-Pentixafor-Positron Emission Tomography/Computer Tomography (PET/CT) offers promising possibility of imaging the CXCR4 expression profile. We set out to compare a [18F] fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG)-PET/CT and a [68Ga]Pentixafor-PET/CT in (re-)staging and radiation planning of patients with localized esophageal cancer. Materials and methods In this retrospective analysis, ten patients, with adeno- or squamous cell carcinoma of the esophagus ( n = 3 and n = 7, respectively), which were scheduled for radio (chemo) therapy, were imaged using both Pentixafor and FDG PET/CT examinations. All lesions were visually rated as Pentixafor and FDG positive or negative. For both tracers, SUVmax was measured all lesions and compared to background. Additionally, immunohistochemistry of CXCR4 was obtained in patients undergoing surgery. Results FDG-positive tumor-suspicious lesions were detected in all patients and a total of 26 lesions were counted. The lesion-based analysis brought equal status in 14 lesions which were positive for both tracers while five lesions were FDG positive and Pentixafor negative and seven lesions were FDG negative, but Pentixafor positive. Histopathologic correlation was available in seven patients. The CXCR4 expression of four non-pretreated tumour lesion samples was confirmed immunohistochemically. Conclusion Our data shows that additional PET/CT imaging with Pentixafor for imaging the CXCR4 chemokine receptor is feasible but heterogeneous in both newly diagnosed and pretreated recurrent esophageal cancer. In addition, the Pentixafor PET/CT may serve as complementary tool for radiation field expansion in radiooncology.

Abstract:Purpose: CXCR4 (over)expression is found in multiple human cancer types, while expression is low or absent in healthy tissue. In glioblastoma it is associated with a poor prognosis and more extensive infiltrative phenotype. CXCR4 can be targeted by the diagnostic PET agent [68Ga]Ga-Pentixafor and its therapeutic counterpart [177Lu]Lu-Pentixather. We aimed to investigate the expression of CXCR4 in glioblastoma tissue to further examine the potential of these PET agents. Methods: CXCR4 mRNA expression was examined using the R2 genomics platform. Glioblastoma tissue cores were stained for CXCR4. CXCR4 staining in tumor cells was scored. Stained tissue components (cytoplasm and/or nuclei of the tumor cells and blood vessels) were documented. Clinical characteristics and information on IDH and MGMT promoter methylation status were collected. Seven pilot patients with recurrent glioblastoma underwent [68Ga]Ga-Pentixafor PET; residual resected tissue was stained for CXCR4. Results: Two large mRNA datasets (N = 284; N = 540) were assesed. Of the 191 glioblastomas, 426 cores were analyzed using immunohistochemistry. Seventy-eight cores (23 tumors) were CXCR4 negative, while 18 cores (5 tumors) had both strong and extensive staining. The remaining 330 cores (163 tumors) showed a large inter- and intra-tumor variation for CXCR4 expression; also seen in the resected tissue of the seven pilot patients-not directly translatable to [68Ga]Ga-Pentixafor PET results. Both mRNA and immunohistochemical analysis showed CXCR4 negative normal brain tissue and no significant correlation between CXCR4 expression and IDH or MGMT status or survival. Conclusion: Using immunohistochemistry, high CXCR4 expression was found in a subset of glioblastomas as well as a large inter- and intra-tumor variation. Caution should be exercised in directly translating ex vivo CXCR4 expression to PET agent uptake. However, when high CXCR4 expression can be identified with [68Ga]Ga-Pentixafor, these patients might be good candidates for targeted radionuclide therapy with [177Lu]Lu-Pentixather in the future.

Abstract:Aim: In the CheckRad-CD8 trial patients with locally advanced head and neck squamous cell cancer are treated with a single cycle of induction chemo-immunotherapy (ICIT). Patients with pathological complete response (pCR) in the re-biopsy enter radioimmunotherapy. Our goal was to study the value of F-18-FDG PET/CT in the prediction of pCR after induction therapy. Methods: Patients treated within the CheckRad-CD8 trial that additionally received FDG- PET/CT imaging at the following two time points were included: 3-14 days before (pre-ICIT) and 21-28 days after (post-ICIT) receiving ICIT. Tracer uptake in primary tumors (PT) and suspicious cervical lymph nodes (LN +) was measured using different quantitative parameters on EANM Research Ltd (EARL) accredited PET reconstructions. In addition, mean FDG uptake levels in lymphatic and hematopoietic organs were examined. Percent decrease (Δ) in FDG uptake was calculated for all parameters. Biopsy of the PT post-ICIT acquired after FDG-PET/CT served as reference. The cohort was divided in patients with pCR and residual tumor (ReTu). Results: Thirty-one patients were included. In ROC analysis, ΔSUVmax PT performed best (AUC = 0.89) in predicting pCR (n = 17), with a decline of at least 60% (sensitivity, 0.77; specificity, 0.93). Residual SUVmax PT post-ICIT performed best in predicting ReTu (n = 14), at a cutpoint of 6.0 (AUC = 0.91; sensitivity, 0.86; specificity, 0.88). Combining two quantitative parameters (ΔSUVmax ≥ 50% and SUVmax PT post-ICIT ≤ 6.0) conferred a sensitivity of 0.81 and a specificity of 0.93 for determining pCR. Background activity in lymphatic organs or uptake in suspected cervical lymph node metastases lacked significant predictive value. Conclusion: FDG-PET/CT can identify patients with pCR after ICIT via residual FDG uptake levels in primary tumors and the related changes compared to baseline. Abstract:Background: Tumor-specific molecular imaging in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) is not well established. Somatostatin receptors (SSTRs) are found in solid tumors, including HNSCC. 68 Ga-DOTATATE, a commercially available radionuclide that binds SSTRs, may have utility in imaging HNSCC. Methods: Patients with HNSCC received pretreatment imaging with 18 F-FDG-PET/CT and 68 Ga-DOTATATE. Imaging was compared for concordance. When available, surgical resection specimens were compared to pretreatment imaging findings. Historic HNSCC tumor specimens were assessed for both SSTR and p16/human papilloma virus (HPV) expression. Results: Twenty patients were imaged. Fifteen had oropharyngeal cancer. Primary tumor site was concordant between imaging modalities for all patients. One of 45 lymph nodes was discordant. Retrospective specimen review showed a significant correlation with SSTR expression and HPV/p16 expression. No adverse events occurred. Conclusions: 68 Ga-DOTATATE imaging is safe and effective in HNSCC. SSTR expression may be increased in HPV-mediated tumors. Targeted therapies to SSTR should be explored.

Abstract:PURPOSE: To elucidate the influence of CXC motif chemokine receptor 4 (CXCR4)-directed imaging on staging and proposed oncologic management in patients with digestive system tumors compared with guideline-appropriate imaging (GAI).METHODS: From our PET/CT database, we retrospectively identified 37 patients with advanced digestive system tumors, which had been scheduled for CXCR4-targeted [ 68 Ga]Ga-pentixafor PET/CT for potential theranostic considerations. In all subjects, concurrent GAI was also available. Patients were afflicted with gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine neoplasms (21/37 [56.8%]), pancreatic duct adenocarcinoma (6/37 [16.2%]), cholangiocarcinoma (5/37 [13.5%]), hepatocellular carcinoma (4/37 [10.8%]), and colorectal carcinoma (1/37 [2.7%]). Staging results and impact on proposed oncologic management by a board-certified gastroenterologist were compared between GAI and [ 68 Ga]Ga-pentixafor PET/CT.RESULTS: Relative to GAI, CXCR4-directed PET/CT resulted in staging changes in 14 of 37 patients (37.8%). Upstaging was seen in 1 of 14 patients (7.1%), whereas downstaging was recorded in the remaining 13 of 14 patients (92.9%). Among those, staging changes would not have triggered any changes in oncological management in 4 of 14 (28.6%). For the remaining 10 of 14 patients (71.4%), however, findings on [ 68 Ga]Ga-pentixafor PET/CT would have impacted subsequent clinical algorithm, including the necessity for further diagnostic steps or failure to initiate antitumor therapy.CONCLUSION: [ 68 Ga]Ga-pentixafor PET/CT missed tumor lesions in 13 patients with digestive system tumors, which would have led to inappropriate downstaging and clinical treatment of 10 patients. As such, our results do not support a more widespread use of [ 68 Ga]Ga-pentixafor PET/CT for clinical staging in those tumor entities.

Abstract:Abstract Background The chemokine receptor CXCR4 is frequently overexpressed and associated with adverse prognosis in most hematopoietic malignancies and solid cancers. Recently, CXCR4 molecular imaging using the CXCR4-specific positron emission tomography (PET) tracer Pentixafor ([ 68 Ga]Pentixafor) has become a well-established method to non-invasively measure CXCR4 expression in vivo. In previous Pentixafor imaging studies, highly variable CXCR4 tracer uptake to the spleen was observed. Results We investigated the hypothesis that enhanced spleen [ 68 Ga]Pentixafor uptake and thus CXCR4 expression in patients with solid tumors would indicate an activated spleen state and/or an association with clinical and prognostic features and survival parameters. In this retrospective study, [ 68 Ga]Pentixafor-PET images and patient records of 145 solid tumor patients representing 27 cancer entities were investigated for an association of spleen [ 68 Ga]Pentixafor uptake and clinical characteristics and outcome. Based on this assessment, we did not observe differences in clinical outcomes, measured by progression-free survival, overall survival and remission status neither within the entire cohort nor within subgroups of adrenal cancer, desmoplastic small round cell tumor, neuroendocrine tumors, non-small cell lung cancer, small cell lung cancer and pancreatic adenocarcinoma patients. No tumor entity showed especially high levels of spleen [ 68 Ga]Pentixafor uptake compared to others or a control cohort. However, when investigating laboratory parameters, there was a positive correlation of high spleen [ 68 Ga]Pentixafor uptake with leukocyte and/or platelet counts in neuroendocrine tumors, non-small cell lung cancer and small cell lung cancer. Conclusion Spleen [ 68 Ga]Pentixafor uptake was not associated with stage of disease and clinical outcomes in solid tumor patients. We identified positively associated platelet and/or leukocyte counts with spleen [ 68 Ga]Pentixafor uptake in neuroendocrine tumors, non-small cell lung cancer and small cell lung cancer, suggesting that splenic CXCR4 expression could possibly play a role in systemic immunity/inflammation in some types of solid tumors or a subgroup of patients within solid tumor entities.

Abstract:Purpose: Accurate assessment of residual disease of tumor and lymph nodes after neoadjuvant immunochemotherapy is crucial in the active surveillance for patients with pathological complete response (pCR) and the optimal extent of lymphadenectomy for patients with non-pCR. This post hoc analysis aimed to evaluate the performance of 18F-FDG PET/CT to predict the pathological response to neoadjuvant immunochemotherapy for esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC). Methods: Fifty-eight resectable ESCC patients received two cycles of camrelizumab in combination with chemotherapy and were enrolled in the final analysis. The 18F-FDG PET/CT scans were acquired at baseline (scan-1) and after immunochemotherapy but prior to surgery (scan-2). Maximum standardized uptake value (SUVmax), mean standardized uptake value (SUVmean), tumor-to-blood pool SUVmax ratio (SUVTBR), metabolic tumor volume (MTV), and total lesion glycolysis (TLG) were evaluated for their association with the pathological response to immunochemotherapy. Results: Nineteen patients (32.8%, 19/58) had pCR and thirty-nine patients (67.2%, 39/58) had non-pCR after two doses of camrelizumab and chemotherapy. At scan-2, the SUVmax, SUVmean, SUVTBR, TLG, and MTV were significantly lower in pCR than in non-pCR patients. Decrease in TLG and MTV between scan-2 and scan-1 of the same patient was significantly higher in the pCR than in the non-pCR group. In the receiver operating characteristic curve analysis, SUVmax, SUVmean, SUVTBR, TLG, and MTV in scan-2 showed excellent predictive value for the pCR of primary tumors. Furthermore, SUVmax in scan-2 were higher in positive lymph nodes than in negative ones, suggesting a high negative predictive ability (98.6%) with a cut-off value at 1.4. Conclusion: The parameters of 18F-FDG PET/CT have the excellent performance for predicting pCR after the combined neoadjuvant immunochemotherapy in resectable ESCC. Abstract:Because of gastral and extranodal manifestations, guideline-compatible diagnostic work-up of marginal zone lymphoma is challenging. We aimed to determine the diagnostic performance of C-X-C motif chemokine receptor 4 (CXCR4)–directed PET/CT compared with routine diagnostics, along with PET/CT-based retrospective changes in therapeutic management. The predictive potential of the PET signal was also investigated, and the number of patients eligible for CXCR4-directed radioligand therapy in a theranostic setting was determined. Methods: For this study, 100 marginal zone lymphoma patients underwent CXCR4-directed PET/CT. We compared staging results and treatment decisions from molecular imaging with respective results from guideline-compatible work-up (CT, esophagogastroduodenoscopy, and bone marrow–derived biopsy). Prognostic performance of the in vivo CXCR4 PET signal for progression-free survival (PFS) was evaluated (using log-rank test and Kaplan–Meier curves). Results: Relative to CT, CXCR4-directed imaging led to Ann Arbor (AA) staging changes for 27 of 100 patients (27.0%). Among those, clinically relevant upstaging from AA I or AA II to AA III or AA IV was observed for 23 patients (85.2%), along with respective changes in therapeutic management (escalation, 6/23 [26.1%]; deescalation, 17/23 [73.9%]). CXCR4 PET/CT yielded diagnostic accuracy of 94.0% relative to esophagogastroduodenoscopy and 76.8% relative to bone marrow–derived biopsy. An increased CXCR4 PET signal was linked to shorter PFS (707 d vs. median PFS not reached; hazard ratio, 3.18; 95% CI, 1.37–7.35; P = 0.01). CXCR4-directed radioligand therapy would have been feasible for 18 of 100 patients (18.0%). Conclusion: Relative to CT, CXCR4-directed PET/CT led to AA changes for 27 of 100 patients. Chemokine receptor PET/CT may improve current diagnostic algorithms and influence management relative to CT alone, potentially obviating some biopsies.

Abstract:Purpose F-18-FDG PET/CT has some limitations in the evaluation of multiple myeloma (MM). Since chemokine receptor-4 is overexpressed in MM, we perform a prospective cohort study to compare the performance of Ga-68-Pentixafor and F-18-FDG PET/CT in newly diagnosed MM. Methods Thirty patients with newly diagnosed MM were recruited. All patients underwent Ga-68-Pentixafor and(18)F-FDG PET/CT within 1 week after enrollment. A positive PET/CT was defined as the presence of focal PET-positive lesions in bone marrow or diffuse bone marrow patterns (uptake > liver). Bone marrow uptake values in Ga-68-Pentixafor and(18)F-FDG PET/CT (total bone marrow glycolysis [TBmG(FDG)], total bone marrow uptake with Ga-68-Pentixafor [TBmU(CXCR4)], total bone marrow volume [TBmV], SUVmean, and SUVmax) were obtained by drawing total bone marrow volume of interest on PET/CT. The positive rates of the PET/CT scans were statistically compared, and the correlation between quantitative bone marrow uptake values and clinical characteristics, laboratory findings, and staging was analyzed. Results Ga-68-Pentixafor PET/CT had a higher positive rate than F-18-FDG PET/CT in recruited patients (93.3 vs. 53.3%, p = 0.0005). In quantitative analysis, bone marrow uptake values in Ga-68-Pentixafor (TBmU(CXCR4), SUVmax, and SUVmean) were positively correlated with end organ damage, staging, and laboratory biomarkers related to tumor burden including serum beta 2-microglobulin, serum free light chain, and 24-h urine light chain (p < 0.05). In F-18-FDG PET/CT, only the SUVmean of total bone marrow was positively correlated with serum free light chain and 24-h urine light chain (p < 0.05). Conclusions Ga-68-Pentixafor PET/CT is promising in assessment of newly diagnosed MM.

Abstract:Abstract Posttreatment evaluation of gastric mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue (MALT) lymphoma currently relies on esophagogastroduodenoscopy with histological assessment of biopsies. Overexpression of the G protein–coupled C-X-C chemokine receptor type 4 (CXCR4) has been previously observed in MALT lymphoma. The aim of this prospective study was to evaluate positron emission tomography (PET) with the novel CXCR4 tracer [68Ga]Pentixafor as a potential alternative to follow up biopsies for assessment of residual disease (noncomplete remission [CR]) after first-line Helicobacter pylori eradication. Forty-six post–H pylori eradication [68Ga]Pentixafor–PET/magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) examinations of 26 gastric MALT lymphoma patients, and 20 [68Ga]Pentixafor–PET/MRI examinations of 20 control group patients without lymphoma, were analyzed. In the MALT lymphoma group, time-matched gastric biopsies were used as reference standard and showed CR in 6 cases. Pooled examination-based accuracy, sensitivity, specificity, and positive and negative predictive values of [68Ga]Pentixafor–PET for detection of residual gastric MALT lymphoma at follow-up were 97.0%, 95.0%, 100.0%, 100.0%, and 92.9%, respectively. Maximum and mean PET standardized uptake values showed moderate correlation with immunohistochemistry-based CXCR4+ cell counts, with correlation coefficients of r = 0.51 and r = 0.52 (P = .008 and P = .006). In summary, CXCR4 imaging with [68Ga]Pentixafor–PET may represent a promising test for assessment of residual gastric MALT lymphomas after H pylori eradication.
