Abstract:We investigate the scheme for controlling information characterized by Von-Neumann entropy and the stationary state entanglement characterized by concurrence of two solid state qubits in the collective dephasing channel. It is shown that the local maximal value of the stationary state concurrence always corresponds to the local minimal value of information. We also propose a scheme for remotely controlling the entanglement of two solid state qubits against the collective dephasing. This idea may open a door to remotely suppress the detrimental effects of decoherence.

Abstract:The system of an atom couples to two distinct opticalcavities with decoherence is studied by making use of a dynamicalalgebraic method. We adopt the concurrence to characterize theentanglement between atom and cavities or between two opticalcavities in the presence of the phase decoherence or dissipation.It is found that the entanglement between atom and cavities can becontrolled by adjusting the detuning parameter. We show that evenif the atom is initially prepared in a maximally mixed state, itcan also entangle the two mode cavity fields. Finally, the Bellviolation of the cavity fields is discussed, and it is shown thatboth the detuning and decoherence can deteriorate the maximalamount of violation of Bell inequality for two mode cavity fieldsduring the evolution.

Abstract:We investigate the quantum discord dynamics of two effective two-level atoms independently interacting with two quantized field modes through a Raman interaction in the presence of phase decoherence. The influence of the phase decoherence and detuning on the evolution of the quantum discord and entanglement between two atoms is discussed. It is found that the quantum discord is more robust than the entanglement under the phase decoherence, and the amount of discord and entanglement between two atoms can be increased by adjusting the detuning.

Abstract:We investigate the dynamics of quantum correlation between two noninteracting qubits each inserted in its own finite-temperature environment with 1/f spectral density. It is found that the phenomenon of sudden transition between classical and quantum decoherence exists in the system when two qubits are initially prepared in X-type quantum states, and the transition time depends on the initial-state of two qubits, the qubit–environment coupling constant and the temperature of the environment. Furthermore, we explore the influence of dynamical decoupling pulses on the transition time and show that it can be prolonged by applying the dynamical decoupling pulses.

Abstract:Protecting entanglement from decoherence is a critical aspect of quantum information processsing. For many-body quantum systems evolving under decoherence, estimating multipartite entanglement is challenging. This challenge can be met up by considering distance based measure such as relative entropy of entanglement which decisively measures entanglement in both pure as well as mixed states. In this work, we investigate the tripartite entanglement dynamics of pure and mixed states in the presence of a structured dephasing environment at finite temperature. We show that the robustness of the quantum system to decoherence is dependent on the distribution of entanglement and its relation to different configurations of the bath. If the bath is structured individually such that each qubit has its own environment, the system has different dynamics compared to when the bath is common to all the three qubits. From the results we conjecture that there is a connection between the distribution of entanglement among the qubits and the distribution of bath degrees of freedom, and the interplay of these two distributions determines the decay rate of the entanglement dynamics. The sustainability of tripartite entanglement is shown to be enhanced significantly in presence of reservoir memory.

Abstract:We study the entanglement dynamics of two entangled spins coupled with a common environment consisting of a large number of harmonic oscillators. Specifically, we study the impacts of both interaction and temperature of the environment on the dynamic quantum correlation, namely, entanglement and quantum discord of two spins via concurrence and global quantum discord criteria. In the present system, we show that the interaction between the spin sub-systems and the common environment causes environmental states to approach a composition of even and odd coherent states, which have different phases, and which are entangled with the spin states. Moreover, using the thermofield approach, we demonstrate quantum correlation stabilization as a result of increasing environmental interaction as well as increasing temperature.

Abstract:We study the dynamical process of disentanglement of two qubits and two qutrits coupled to an Ising spin chain in a transverse field, which exhibits a quantum phase transition. We use the concurrence and negativity to quantify entanglement of two qubits and two qutrits, respectively. Explicit connections between the concurrence (negativity) and the decoherence factors are given for two initial states, the pure maximally entangled state and the mixed Werner state. We find that the concurrence and negativity decay exponentially with fourth power of time in the vicinity of the critical point of the environmental system.

Abstract:We theoretically study the non-Markovian disentanglement dynamics of a two-qubit system coupled to nonequilibrium environments with nonstationary and non-Markovian random telegraph noise statistical properties. The reduced density matrix of the two-qubit system can be expressed as the Kraus representation in terms of the tensor products of the single qubit Kraus operators. We derive the relation between the entanglement and nonlocality of the two-qubit system which are both closely associated with the decoherence function. We identify the threshold values of the decoherence function to ensure the existences of the concurrence and nonlocal quantum correlations for an arbitrary evolution time when the two-qubit system is initially prepared in the composite Bell states and the Werner states, respectively. It is shown that the environmental nonequilibrium feature can suppress the disentanglement dynamics and reduce the entanglement revivals in non-Markovian dynamics regime. In addition, the environmental nonequilibrium feature can enhance the nonlocality of the two-qubit system. Moreover, the entanglement sudden death and rebirth phenomena and the transition between quantum and classical nonlocalities closely depend on the parameters of the initial states and the environmental parameters in nonequilibrium environments.

Abstract:Entropic uncertainty and entanglement are two distinct aspects of quantum mechanical procedures. To estimate entropic uncertainty relations, entropies are used: the greater the entropy bound, the less effective the quantum operations and entanglement are. In this regard, we analyze the entropic uncertainty, entropic uncertainty lower bound, and concurrence dynamics in two non-interacting qubits. The exposure of two qubits is studied in two different qubit-noise configurations, namely, common qubit-noise and independent qubit-noise interactions. To include the noisy effects of the local external fields, a Gaussian Ornstein Uhlenbeck process is considered. We show that the rise in entropic uncertainty gives rise to the disentanglement in the two-qubit Werner type state and both are directly proportional. Depending on the parameters adjustment and the number of environments coupled, different classical environments have varying capacities to induce entropic uncertainty and disentanglement in quantum systems. The entanglement is shown to be vulnerable to current external fields; however, by employing the ideal parameter ranges we provided, prolonged entanglement retention while preventing entropic uncertainty growth can be achieved. Besides, we have also analyzed the intrinsic behavior of the classical fields towards two-qubit entanglement without any imperfection with respect to different parameters

Qubit-environment entanglement in time-dependent pure dephasing

Abstract:We show that the methods for quantification of system-environment entanglement that were recently developed for interactions that lead to pure decoherence of the system can be straightforwardly generalized to time-dependent Hamiltonians of the same type. This includes the if-and-only-if criteria of separability, as well as the entanglement measure applicable to qubit systems, and methods of detection of entanglement by operations and measurements performed solely on the system without accessing the environment. We use these methods to study the nature of the decoherence of a qubit-oscillator system. Qubit-oscillator entanglement is essential for developing bosonic quantum technology with quantum non-Gaussian states and its applications in quantum sensing and computing. The dominating bosonic platforms, trapped ions, electromechanics, and superconducting circuits, are based on the time-dependent gates that use such entanglement to achieve new quantum sensors and quantum error correction. The step-like time-dependence of the Hamiltonian that is taken into account allows us to capture complex interplay between the build-up of classical and quantum correlations, which could not be replicated in time-independent scenarios.

Exact Entanglement Dynamics of Two Spins in Finite Baths

Abstract:We consider the buildup and decay of two-spin entanglement through phase interactions in a finite environment of surrounding spins, as realized in quantum computing platforms based on arrays of atoms, molecules, or nitrogen vacancy centers. The non-Markovian dephasing caused by the spin environment through Ising-type phase interactions can be solved exactly and compared to an effective Markovian treatment based on collision models. In a first case study on a dynamic lattice of randomly hopping spins, we find that non-Markovianity boosts the dephasing rate caused by nearest neighbour interactions with the surroundings, degrading the maximum achievable entanglement. However, we also demonstrate that additional three-body interactions can mitigate this degradation, and that randomly timed reset operations performed on the two-spin system can help sustain a finite average amount of steady-state entanglement. In a second case study based on a model nuclear magnetic resonance system, we elucidate the role of bath correlations at finite temperature on non-Markovian dephasing. They speed up the dephasing at low temperatures while slowing it down at high temperatures, compared to an uncorrelated bath, which is related to the number of thermally accessible spin configurations with and without interactions.

Abstract:We study the decoherence of two ferro- and antiferromagnetically coupled spins that interact with a frustrated spin-bath environment in its ground state. The conditions under which the two-spin system relaxes from the initial spin-up–spin-down state toward its ground state are determined. It is shown that the two-spin system relaxes to its ground state for narrow ranges of the model parameters only. It is demonstrated that the symmetry of the coupling between the two-spin system and the environment has an important effect on the relaxation process. In particular, we show that, if this coupling conserves the magnetization, the two-spin system readily relaxes to its ground state, whereas a nonconserving coupling prevents the two-spin system from coming close to its ground state.

Abstract:Decoherence in a system of two antiferromagnetically coupled spins that interact with a spin bath environment is studied. Systems are considered that range from the rotationally invariant to highly anisotropic spin models and have different topologies and values of parameters that are fixed or are allowed to fluctuate randomly. We explore the conditions under which the two-spin system clearly shows an evolution from the initial spin-up-spin-down state towards the maximally entangled singlet state. We demonstrate that frustration and, especially, glassiness of the spin environment strongly enhances the decoherence of the two-spin system.

Abstract:We study entanglement generated between a charge qubit and a bosonic bath due to their joint evolution which leads to pure dephasing of the qubit. We tune the parameters of the interaction, so that the decoherence is quantitatively independent of the number of bosonic modes taken into account and investigate, how the entanglement generated depends on the size of the environment. A second parameter of interest is the mixedness of the initial state of the environment which is controlled by temperature. We show analytically that for a pure initial state of the environment, entanglement does not depend on environment size. For mixed initial states of the environment, the generated entanglement decreases with the increase of environment size. This effect is stronger for larger temperatures, when the environment is initially more mixed, but in the limit of an infinitely large environment, no entanglement is created at any finite temperature.

Abstract:We investigate the joint effects of Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya (DM) and Kaplan-Shekhtman-Entin-Wohlman-Aharony (KSEA) interactions on entanglement dynamics of two-qubit and two-qutrit anisotropic Heisenberg spin systems, coupled to an XY-spin-chain environment. Entanglement quantifiers such as concurrence and negativity are employed. Simulations show that the joint effect of KSEA and DM interactions is significantly benefit to preserve entanglement. This is more robust by applying in addition an external magnetic field to protect each system from unwanted environmental effects. In addition, the phase transition signature observed due to ferromagnetic nature of XY-spin systems is better stabilized thanks to KSEA interaction. We also observe that this interaction strongly improves the correlation time. However, it tends to flatten (without annihilating) the entanglement survival behavior induced by the magnetic field and the DM interaction. Further, it is observed that under similar conditions entanglement is more robust for two-qutrit as compared to two-qubit system.

Abstract:Two noninteracting atoms, initially entangled in Bell states, are coupled to a one-mode cavity. Based on the reduced non-perturbative quantum master equation, the entanglement evolution of the two atoms with decay is investigated beyond rotating-wave approximation. It is shown that the counter-rotating wave terms have great influence on the disentanglement behavior. The phenomenon of entanglement sudden death and entanglement sudden birth will occur.

Abstract:The intrinsic decoherence refers to the loss of quantum coherence between the superposed states of a system, usually induced by interactions with the external environment. This can cause quantum phenomena such as interference and superposition to disappear, leading to unpredictable evolution of the system. This study investigates the dynamics of quantum coherence and entanglement in the spin‐1 Heisenberg XXZ model. Particularly, the effects of the Heitler‐London (HL) coupling and the Dzyaloshinskii‐Moriya (DM) interaction are examined. By utilizing tools from quantum information theory, the concept of quantum correlated coherence and negativity are explored. The results show intrinsic decoherence leads to a decay of both correlated coherence and negativity. Interestingly, it is found that a small value of the Dzyaloshinskii‐Moriya interaction can significantly enhance coherence and entanglement. Various factors influence the system dynamics, including the initial state, anisotropy parameter, and the coupling distance between spins. It is shown that, by fixing the anisotropy parameter, the isotropic Heisenberg models XX and XXX can be easily recovered. Ultimately, the findings highlight that the system maintains a coherent temporal evolution despite decoherence.

Rise and fall of entanglement between two qubits in a non-Markovian bath

Abstract:We analyse the dynamics of quantum correlations between two qubits coupled to a linear chain of oscillators. The chain mediates interactions between the qubits and acts as a non-Markovian reservoir. The the model is amenable to an analytical solution when the initial state of the chain is Gaussian}. We study the dynamics of the qubits concurrence starting from a separable state and assuming that the chain spectrum is gapped {and the chain is initially in a thermal state. We identify three relevant regimes that depend on the strength of the qubit-chain coupling in relation to the spectral gap. These are (i) the weak coupling regime, where the qubits are entangled at the asymptotics; (ii) the strong coupling regime, where the concurrence can exhibit collapses followed by revivals with exponentially attenuated amplitude; and (iii) the thermal damping regime, where the concurrence rapidly vanishes due to the chain's thermal excitations. In all cases, if entanglement is generated, this occurs after a finite time has elapsed. This time scale depends exponentially on the qubits distance and is determined by the spectral properties of the chain. Entanglement irreversible decay, on the other hand, is due to the dissipative effect induced by the coupling with the chain and is controlled by the coupling strength between the chain and qubits. This study unravels the basic mechanisms leading to entanglement in a non-Markovian bath and allows to identify the key resources for realising quantum coherent dynamics of open systems.

Abstract:Preserving multipartite entanglement amidst decoherence poses a pivotal challenge in quantum information processing. However, assessing multipartite entanglement in mixed states amid decoherence presenting a formidable task. Employing reservoir memory offers a means to attenuate the decoherence dynamics impacting multipartite entanglement, thereby slowing its degradation. One of the important measures which can be implemented to quantify entanglement is the relative entropy of entanglement. Although this measure is not monogamous \cite{horodeckirev2009}, it can universally be applied to both pure and mixed states. Based on this fundamental novelty, in this work, therefore, we introduce a quantifier which will investigate how entanglement remain distributed among the qubits of multipartite states when these states are exposed to multipartite dephasing setting. For our study we use various pure and mixed tripartite states subjected to finite temperature in both Markovian and non-Markovian local/common bath. Here, we consider situations where the three qubits interact with a common reservoir as well as a local bosonic reservoir. We also show that the robustness of a quantum system to decoherence depends on the distribution of entanglement and its interaction with various configurations of the bath. When each qubit has its own local environment, the system exhibits different distribution dynamics compared to when all three qubits share a common environment with one exception regarding a mixed state.

Abstract:The effect of decoherence on a qubit-qutrit system under the influence of global and multilocal decoherence in non-inertial frames is investigated. It is shown that the entanglement sudden death (ESD) can be avoided in non-inertial frames in the presence of dephasing and bit-trit phase flip channels for entire range of decoherence. However, ESD behaviour is seen for higher level of decoherence in case of phase flip and bit-trit flip channels. Irrespective of the entanglement degradation caused by the Unruh effect, no ESD occurs for the dephasing environment. Furthermore, flipping channels have approximately similar effect on the entanglement of the hybrid system.
