Abstract:The unsteady magneto-convective heat-mass transport passing in a vertical porous sheet with the thermal radiation and the chemical reaction effects has been examined numerically. The governing PDEs have been transferred into ODEs by applying the local similarity transformation. The nondimensional governing equations including the boundary conditions are solved by applying the superposition method with the help of the "MATLAB ODE45" software numerically. The influence of emerging nondimensional numbers/parameters, for example, the Prandtl number (Pr), thermal radiation parameter (R), Schmidt number (Sc), and chemical reaction parameter (K r), on fluid velocity, concentration, and thermal radiation within the boundary layer has been examined. The outcomes indicate that enhancing values of the Soret and Dufour numbers reduce the thermal boundary layer thickness. Uplifting values of the thermal radiation (0.5-3.5) enhance the local skin friction coefficient and mass transfer rate by approximately 15% and 78% but decrease the heat transfer rate by 47%. The local skin friction coefficient enhances about 21%, and the mass transfer rate reduces about 64% due to an increase in the chemical reaction parameter (0.5-2.0). Finally, we compared our numerical results with previously published literature and observed them to have a good agreement.

Abstract:The objective of this work is to investigate the influences of thermal radiation, heat generation, and buoyancy force on the time-dependent boundary layer (BL) flow across a vertical permeable plate. The fluid is unsteady, incompressible, viscous, and electrically insulating. The heat transfer mechanism happens due to free convection. The nondimensional partial differential equations of continuity, momentum, energy, and concentration are discussed using appropriate transformations. The impressions of thermal radiation and buoyancy forces are exposed in the energy and momentum equation, respectively. For numerical model, a set of nonlinear dimensionless partial differential equations can be solved using an explicit finite difference approach. The stability and convergence analyses are also established to complete the formulation of the model. The thermophysical effects of entering physical parameters on the flow, thermal, and material fields are analyzed. The variations in local and average skin friction, material, and heat transfer rates are also discussed for the physical interest. The analysis of the obtained findings is shown graphically, and relevant parameters pointedly prejudice the flow field. Studio Developer FORTRAN 6.2 and Tecplot 10.0 are applied to simulate the schematic model equations and graphical presentation numerically. The intensifying values of the magnetic field are affected decreasingly in the flow field. The temperature profiles decrease within the BL to increase the value of radiation parameters. The present study is on the consequences for petroleum engineering, agriculture engineering, extraction, purification processes, nuclear power plants, gas turbines, etc. To see the rationality of the present research, we compare these results and the results available in the literature with outstanding compatibility.
MHD Convective Heat Transfer with Temperature-Dependent Viscosity and Thermal Conductivity: a Numerical Investigation

Abstract:This paper considers numerical solutions to magneto hydrodynamics convective heat transfer over a permeable stretching wedge with thermal radiation and ohmic heating. Both the viscosity and thermal conductivity are assumed to vary as a linear function of the temperature, and dynamic viscosity is considered in a new form. Using an appropriate transformation, the governing partial differential equations are transformed into ordinary differential equations. Numerical solutions to these equations subject to corresponding boundary conditions are obtained by efficient numerical shooting technique coupled with Runge–Kutta–Fehlberg scheme. The effects of pertinent parameters are shown through tables and graphs, and meanwhile the associated transfer characteristics are analyzed in detail. The results show that: with the increase of viscosity variation parameter or the thermal conductivity, the local skin-friction coefficient increases but the local Nusselt number decreases. The increasing in viscosity variation parameter is to increase the velocity boundary layer thickness and decrease in the magnitude of the velocity gradient. Furthermore, thermal conductivity parameter has the same effect on the thermal boundary layer thickness and the temperature gradient.

Abstract:Significance of magnetohydrodynamic effect on a viscous (temperature‐dependent) and chemically reactive thin fluid film flow past an unsteady permeable stretchable plate with Soret–Dufour effects, nonlinear thermal radiative, and suction under the action of a convective type of boundary condition is analyzed. The problem consists of nonlinear governing basic equations that are highly nonlinear due to the existence of nonlinear thermal radiative terms in the energy equation. Analytical solutions are challenging to achieve for such types of problems, so a numerical scheme adopts the numerical solution. Computed solutions indicate that decreasing the Dufour number (and simultaneously increasing the Soret number) enhances heat flux, whereas the reverse trend is estimated for the concentration gradient field. The influence of magnetization indicates a decrement in the thin liquid film velocity distribution, whereas an increment is observed in temperature and solutal gradient profiles. Further, an enhancement in thermoradiative values focuses on decreasing the heat flux profiles, whereas a decreasing trend is determined in the solutal gradient by incrementing the Schmidt number. The variations of the velocity field, temperature, and concentration gradients are shown for the unsteady parameter S lying in the range [0.8, 1.4]. Similarly, the range of different parameters utilized are θr [0.0, 1.0], Nr [0.0, 2.0], Pr [0.8, 1.5], Sc [0.5, 2.0], B* [0.0, 1.0], k1 [0.2, 3.0], fw [1.0, 2.0], M [0.0, 3.0], Du [0.4, 1.0], and Sr [0.4, 1.0]. The novelty of the present study lies in its analysis of complex fluid dynamics phenomena and their implications for various industrial processes and engineering applications, including coating processes, heat exchangers, microfluidics, and biomedical engineering. The insights gained from the study can contribute to developing more efficient and innovative research in these areas. Further, we have compared the present results with those available in the literature under some special cases and found them to be in excellent agreement.

Abstract:In the existence of Joule heating and thermal radiation, we researched the Hall current and Radiation absorption consequences of MHD mixed convective movement of an indestructible and electrically operating viscous liquid moving via an endless upright permeable plate. This flow was seen to be occurring in the presence of thermal radiation. The perturbation approach is employed to find a solution for the non-dimensional equations. Within the boundary layer, we investigate the impact of the different non-dimensional factors on the velocities, temperatures, and concentrations of the fluid. Furthermore, computational debates or discussions are also conducted regarding the effects of pertinent factors on the shear stress rate and the rate of heat and mass transfer. The fluid velocity and temperature enhance with increasing Hall and Radiation absorption parameters, and temperature tends to diminish as the thermal radiation increases. Increases in the permeability factor reduce the skin friction coefficient. Still, increases in the thermal and mass Grashof numbers have the opposite effect—the rise in the Prandtl number results in an increase in the Nusselt number. Sherwood number decreases as the amount of radiation that is absorbed increases.

Abstract:The steady-state solution of unsteady MHD radiating fluid flow concerning heat and mass transfer in a rotating system dipped in a medium of porosity with Hall current along a semi-infinite vertical plate have been inquired numerically. By using appropriate usual conversions, the governing equations for the present study are converted into the form of dimensionless non-linear partial differential equations (PDEs). The explicit finite difference method (FDM) is imposed to solve the acquired coupled non-linear PDEs. MATLAB R2020a has been employed as a numerical simulation tool. For assuring accuracy and for obtaining convergence solutions the stability and convergence criteria of the present model have been fabricated. The stability analysis imposes circumscriptions on several elements as 0.50≤M≤10, 0.01≤βh≤5, K≤326.50, 0.185≤Pr≤7.56, 0.00≤R*≤80, Sc≥0.18 and Q0≤326.50. The mesh sensitivity experiment for finer mesh space and time validation experiment for steady-state solutions are comprised of acquired solutions. The consequences of the present findings are compared with several previously published research works for claiming validation. The present study accentuates the effects of those parameters, which are relevant to the dimensionless model equations. Finally, the obtained results are placed in graphs and sorted into tables.

Abstract:A two-dimensional steady forced convective flow of a Newtonian fluid past a convectively heated permeable vertically moving plate in the presence of a variable magnetic field and radiation effect has been investigated numerically. The plate moves either in assisting or opposing direction to the free stream. The plate and free stream velocities are considered to be proportional to x(m) whilst the magnetic field and mass transfer velocity are taken to be proportional to x((m-1)/2) where x is the distance along the plate from the leading edge of the plate. Instead of using existing similarity transformations, we use a linear group of transformations to transform the governing equations into similarity equations with relevant boundary conditions. Numerical solutions of the similarity equations are presented to show the effects of the controlling parameters on the dimensionless velocity, temperature and concentration profiles as well as on the friction factor, rate of heat and mass transfer. It is found that the rate of heat transfer elevates with the mass transfer velocity, convective heat transfer, Prandtl number, velocity ratio and the magnetic field parameters. It is also found that the rate of mass transfer enhances with the mass transfer velocity, velocity ratio, power law index and the Schmidt number, whilst it suppresses with the magnetic field parameter. Our results are compared with the results existing in the open literature. The comparisons are satisfactory.

Abstract:In this study, we have conducted an analysis of steady, incompressible, and magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) Casson fluid flow over a stretching sheet. The primary focus of this research is to investigate the effects of thermal radiation and velocity slip along a stretching sheet. The governing equations for this study are a system of Partial Differential Equations (PDEs) that converted to the Ordinary Differential Equations (ODEs) using similarity transformations. To solve these equations, we have employed the RK–Fehlberg method for solving ordinary differential equations. Governing equations are discretized using the RK–Fehlberg method, and the resulting system of algebraic equations is solved iteratively. These simulations have been conducted under various flow and heat transfer conditions, including variations in the convective number, Prandtl number, and diffusion parameter. The analysis of our results reveals several important findings. Increasing the chemical reaction parameter has been found to reduce the thickness of the concentration boundary layer, while an increase in the Schmidt number leads to an expansion of this boundary layer. These findings are critical for understanding heat transfer in stagnation point flow over a stretching sheet, and they encompass aspects such as temperature distribution, heat transfer rates, boundary layer characteristics, velocity profiles, and the potential for implementing heat transfer enhancement techniques.

Abstract:An attempt has been made to investigate the problem of nonlinear free convection heat and mass transfer flow past an infinite vertical porous plate embedded in a porous medium by taking into account thermal radiation and heat sink with constant heat and mass flux. Transversely oriented and of uniform strength B 0 , a magnetic field has been introduced to the fluid area. The nonlinear density variation with temperature as well as concentration are the basis for the current physical situation, which is explained by this mathematical model. Exact solutions are derived for momentum equation, energy equation, and species continuity equation under the relevant boundary conditions. The dimensionless governing equations are analytically solved. The influence of various physical parameters, such as Dufour number, Schmidt number, thermal Grashof number, magnetic parameter, mass Grashof number, heat sink, thermal radiation, Prandtl number, chemical reaction parameter on the flow, and transport characteristic, has been presented graphically and in tabular form. The novelty of the present investigation is that here both constant heat and mass flux at the plate are taken into account in addition to thermal radiation and heat sink. The findings of the mathematical study demonstrate that velocity, temperature, and skin friction intensify with a rise in the Dufour number this is due to the fact that the convection current becomes stronger as the Dufour number rises. Fluid's concentration declines as the Schmidt number grows, or the concentration rises as the mass diffusivity rises. Fluid temperature is enhanced with high thermal diffusivity. Frictional resistance on the plate hikes due to thermal buoyancy force.

Abstract:Abstract This study is conducted on the magneto-hydrodynamics (MHD) boundary layer (BL) heat and mass transfer flow of thermally radiating and dissipative fluid over an infinite plate of vertical orientation with the involvement of induced magnetic field and thermal diffusion. The fluid motion is controlled by uniform suction. The constant heat and mass fluxes at the boundary (plate) have been considered to establish the boundary conditions. The foremost prevailing equations are converted into non-linear dimensionless partial differential equations (PDEs) by applying usual transformations. An efficient explicit finite difference method (FDM) has been performed to reckon the solution of the system of non-linear coupled PDEs in a numerical manner. To ensure the converging nature of the solutions, close observation and heed have been given to stability and convergence schemes. The MATLAB R2015a and Studio Developer FORTRAN 6.6a have been employed for numerical simulation of the schematic model equations. To quest steady-state, an experiment is performed on time simultaneously an experiment on mesh size is ascertained to assure a suitable mesh space. Also, a code verification test has been performed. In addition to that, the computational depictions and discussions have been undertaken on the impacts of significant parametric values for the velocity field, induced magnetic field, temperature, and concentration along with current density and shear stress. The reported results for the present numerical schemes have been compared with published papers in tables and plots. The suction parameter tends to pull down the quantitative measurement of velocity, temperature, and concentration. The induced magnetic field is affected decreasingly by the rising estimation of the magnetic parameter.

Abstract:This study investigates the influence of heat flow due to a concentration gradient on unsteady Newtonian free convective magnetohydrodynamic heat and mass transform dissipative fluid flow over a heated normal porous plate in the presence of radiation absorption and chemical reaction. The plate temperature is assumed to fluctuate in a spanwise cosinusoidal manner over a time and exhibit heat generation with suction velocity. The analysis employs the multiple regular perturbation method to evaluate the governing equations under stipulated boundary conditions. The outcomes are visually depicted to assess the impact of various parameters on the system dynamics. Graphical representations illustrate the physical significance of various parameters on velocity, temperature, and concentration. Additionally, skin friction, mass transfer rate, and heat transfer coefficients are presented in tabular form. The significant findings indicate that velocity, temperature, and skin friction are directly proportional to parameters such as radiation absorption, heat generation, and heat flux due to a chemical potential gradient, whereas Sherwood and concentration are inversely proportional to the Schmidt number and chemical reaction. The outcomes obtained in this study have been cross-referenced with existing scientific literature, demonstrating strong concordance. This alignment provides confidence in the numerical results.

Abstract:The goal of this study is to investigate magnetohydrodynamics varied convective stagnation point stream with a vertically extended sheet embedded in a permeable material. Warmth generation/absorption, radiation impacts, and viscous dissipation are all considered. Using the process of likeness change, the principal boundary layer equations are written and turned into nonlinear ordinary joined differential equations, and the numerical result is produced using the Runge–Kutta fourth‐order approach via shooting technique. Varied physical limits have different effects, such as velocity fraction restriction, mixed convection restriction, Hartmann numeral, Prandtl numeral, permeability restriction, warm air radiation restriction, hotness generation/absorption restriction, and so on, over velocity and temperature scatterings are introduced graphically and then mathematically. The skin friction constant, in addition to Nusselt numerals, over the sheet is determined, expressed mathematically as well as introduced through tables. Fluid velocity and temperature increase with radiation restriction Ra. Skin friction and Nusselt numeral are increasing functions of Hartmann numeral Ha, and decreasing ones of permeability restriction K.

Abstract:Purpose In this framework, the three dimensional (3D) flow of hydromagnetic Carreau nanofluid transport over a stretching sheet has been addressed by considering the impacts of nonlinear thermal radiation and convective conditions. Design/methodology/approach Infinite shear rate viscosity impacts are invoiced in the modeling. The heat and mass transport characteristics are explored by employing the effects of a magnetic field, thermal nonlinear radiation and buoyancy effects. Rudimentary governing partial differential equations (PDEs) are represented and are transformed into ordinary differential equations by the use of similarity transformation. The nonlinear ordinary differential equations (ODEs), along with the boundary conditions, are resolved with the aid of a Runge-Kutta-Fehlberg scheme (RKFS) based on the shooting technique. Findings The impact of sundry parameters like the viscosity ratio parameter ( β* ), nonlinear convection parameters due to temperature and concentration ( β T , β C ), mixed convection parameter ( α ), Hartmann number ( M 2 ), Weissenberg number ( We ), nonlinear radiation parameter ( N R ), and the Prandtl number (Pr) on the velocity, temperature and the concentration distributions are examined. Furthermore, the impacts of important variables on the skin friction, Nusselt number and the Sherwood number have been scrutinized through tables and graphical plots. Originality/value The velocity distribution is suppressed by greater values of the Hartmann number. The velocity components in the tangential and axial directions of the fluid are raised with the viscosity ratio parameter and the tangential slip parameter, but these components are reduced with concentration to thermal buoyancy forces ratio and stretching sheet ratio.

Abstract:The objective of this research endeavor is to examine the properties of stagnation point flow in the presence of absorption, viscous dissipation, and internal thermal generation with respect to a shrinking surface. The resulting system of differential equations is notoriously challenging to solve analytically. The equations controlling the boundary layer flow were solved using a finite difference method. The analysis includes the examination of important physical quantities through the presentation of plots and tabulated values. Our findings reveal a strong connection between the presence of solutions for high shrinking parameters and the magnetic field that was applied. Temperatures increase when there is an increase in both Ec and α at the same time. These results also suggest a shallowing of the thermal boundary layer. As a result of these findings, it appears that temperature and thermal boundary layer thickness are sensitive to changes in these factors.

Abstract:This paper investigates the effect of thermal radiation on unsteady convection flow and heat transfer over a vertical permeable stretching surface in porous medium, where the effects of temperature dependent viscosity and thermal conductivity are also considered. By using a similarity transformation, the governing time-dependent boundary layer equations for momentum and thermal energy are first transformed into coupled, non-linear ordinary differential equations with variable coefficients. Numerical solutions to these equations subject to appropriate boundary conditions are obtained by the numerical shooting technique with fourth-fifth order Runge-Kutta scheme. Numerical results show that as viscosity variation parameter increases both the absolute value of the surface friction coefficient and the absolute value of the surface temperature gradient increase whereas the temperature decreases slightly. With the increase of viscosity variation parameter, the velocity decreases near the sheet surface but increases far away from the surface of the sheet in the boundary layer. The increase in permeability parameter leads to the decrease in both the temperature and the absolute value of the surface friction coefficient, and the increase in both the velocity and the absolute value of the surface temperature gradient.

Abstract:The primary aim of this research work is to develop a mathematical model for the two-dimensional steady incompressible flow of a Jeffrey fluid over a vertical stretching sheet immersed in a Darcy porous medium. The combined effects of Soret and Dufour numbers, activation energy, viscous dissipation, thermal radiation, mixed convection, and Joule heating are included in the energy and concentration equations within this model. Using appropriate similarity variable transformations, the governing partial differential equations were altered into nonlinear ordinary differential equations and then solved numerically using the Runge-Kutta-Fehlberg method along with the shooting technique. The impact of various physical parameters on concentration, velocity, and temperature profiles is deployed through graphs. The velocity increased with a gradual increment in the values of the viscous ratio, thermal, and solutal stratification parameters, whereas the reverse trend was noticed for the magnetic strength. The temperature diminishes as the Prandtl number increases, whereas the opposite scenario exists for Eckert and Dufor numbers and radiation. The fluid concentration rises for a monotonic increment of the Soret number, while it reduces as the Schmidt number, activation energy, and reaction constraint escalate. The amplification of skin friction is observed with an increase in magnetic field strength, while it decreases with an increasing viscous ratio factor. The Nusselt number decreases as radiation increases and the Eckert number rises, but the opposite scenario occurs with increases in the Prandtl number. The Sherwood number is heightened by an increase in the Schmidt number, reaction, and activation energy factors. Moreover, the numerical values of skin friction and the Nusselt number are compared with the previously published work, demonstrating excellent agreement between the results.

Effect of thermal radiation on convective heat transfer in MHD boundary layer Carreau fluid with chemical reaction

Abstract:Abstract The temperature dependent thermophysical fluid properties have numerous aspects in different industries and engineering processes in which heat transmission is based on fluid flow. For such heat transmission processes, heat transmission system is highly fluctuated with variation of viscosity. Thus, the aim of this study is to investigate the transfer of heat in magnetized Carreau fluid with chemical reaction and under influence of thermal radiation over nonlinear stretching/shrinking surface. Additionally, we have incorporated variable heat dependent thermophysical properties to analyze the heat transfer in magnetized Carreau fluid. Set of flow governing non linear PDE’s are obtained using Carreau fluid tensor and boundary layer approximation (BLA) theory. Dimensionless set of ODE’s are obtained using suitable similarity transforms. Shooting method in conjunction with Newton's method have been utilized to solve the problem. It is noted that when stretching $$B\ge 0$$ B ≥ 0 is significant with strictly increasing mass suction $$S$$ S shear stress rate increase with minor levels and sharp increase has been observed in Nusselt number, whereas in shrinking case $$B<0$$ B < 0 shear stress and heat transfer coefficient values are improved raising the value of $$S$$ S mass suction. Further, raising the values of power law index $$n$$ n produce reduced skin friction over stretching surface $$B\ge 0$$ B ≥ 0 while skin friction dramatically enhance in shrinking case $$B<0$$ B < 0 . It is observed that raising the non-linearity $$m$$ m values for stretching or shrinking, skin friction and Nusselt number considerably improved. Moreover, computational outcomes of the study are validated with already published previous results and the results obtained in this study are found in good agreement.

Abstract:The main concern of the present paper is to study the MHD mixed convective heat transfer for an incompressible, laminar, and electrically conducting viscoelastic fluid flow past a permeable wedge with thermal radiation via a semianalytical/numerical method, called Homotopy Analysis Method (HAM). The boundary-layer governing partial differential equations (PDEs) are transformed into highly nonlinear coupled ordinary differential equations (ODEs) consisting of the momentum and energy equations using similarity solution. The current HAM solution demonstrates very good agreement with previously published studies for some special cases. The effects of different physical flow parameters such as wedge angle (β), magnetic field ( M), viscoelastic ( k 1 ), suction/injection ( f w ), thermal radiation ( Nr), and Prandtl number (Pr) on the fluid velocity component ( f′( η)) and temperature distribution ( θ( η)) are illustrated graphically and discussed in detail.

Abstract:In this investigation , the consequence of viscous dissipation on the unstable magneto porous convective transport by a micropolar binary fluid due to an inclined surface with viscous dissipation and thermal radiation is examined. Viscous dissipation plays a noteworthy role in industrial applications. The governing PDEs are converted to combined ODEs with the Boussinesq approximation using a similarity analysis. The obtained non-linear ODEs are resolved using the shooting method with "ODE45 MATLAB" coding assistance. The numerical outcomes are revealed graphically for various dimensionless parameters and numbers, including temperature, concentration, velocity, and micro-rotation. The temperature, micro-rotation, and velocity fields escalate with increasing Eckert numbers. The radiation parameter and variable viscosity parameter increase the flow rate of the fluid. Increasing radiation parameters, suction parameters, and Prandtl numbers lessen the fluid temperature. The buoyancy parameters have symmetrical impacts on the velocity and microrotation of fluid particles in the cooling and heating modes. Improving Eckert number, inclined angle, Schmidt number, Prandtl number, and magnetic parameter reduces skin friction. The heat transmission rate escalates in quantity due to larger Prandtl number values. Rising Prandtl, Eckert, and Schmidt numbers accelerate the mass transfer rate. The current research result is compared to previously published article's result with good agreement.

Abstract:In this investigation, the problem of the study is the effect of the magnetic field and viscous dissipation on heat transfer flow through a moving wedge in the existence of the internal heat generation/absorption and also suction/injection. The governing equations are changed to some coupled nonlinear differential equations with aid of similarity variables. The numerical calculations of the equations are solved by the MATLAB package solver bvp5c. The changes of the pertinent constraints on the momentum and temperature have been discussed through graphs and numerical values of skin friction and heat transfer factor are listed in the tabular pattern. Although maintaining a constant value for the convection parameter, the Nusselt number is increased for Q>0 and decreased for Q<0 . The temperature rises in conjunction with an increase in Ec and Nc variables.
