Abstract:Objective To evaluate the clinical value of endoscopically nasojejunal feeding tube placement (ENFTP) for nutritional support in patients with severe acute pancreatitis (SAP). Methods Those SAP patients who treated with ENFTP (n= 47) or with total parenteral nutrition (TPN) (n=50) were retrospectively analyzed for laboratory parameters before and 1,2 and 4 weeks after nutrition support. Outcomes in the two groups were compared with respect to complications,mortality, duration of feeding, feeding costs,mechanical ventilation time and length of ICU or hospital stay. Results Four weeks after nutrition sypport, the hemoglobin and albumin were increased in ENFTP group as compared to TPN groups (P < 0. 05), while the blood sugar was decreased significant in ENFTP group than in TPN group (P<0.05). The incidence of peripancreatic or biliary infection and catheter-related infection were lower in ENFTP group than in TPN group. Duration of feeding and hospital stay were shorter, and nutrition cost was lower in ENFTP group (P<0.05). In addition, the APACHE Ⅱ score was significantly improved in ENFTP group(P<0.05). Conclusion ENFTP seems to be safe and less expensive in treatment of patients with acute pancreatitis.
Meta-Analysis of Early Enteral Nutrition Provided Within 24 Hours of Admission on Clinical Outcomes in Acute Pancreatitis

Abstract:Background: Enteral nutrition (EN) is more beneficial than parenteral nutrition (PN) in reducing organ failure, infectious complications, and mortality of acute pancreatitis (AP), but its timing is controversial. We attempted to evaluate the safety and clinical outcomes of early EN within 24 hours of admission in patients with AP, especially in predicted severe or severe acute pancreatitis (SAP). Methods: We searched PubMed, EMBASE Databases, Web of Science, and the Cochrane Library for relevant articles before June 2016 using RevMan 5.2 software. Results: Eight studies containing 727 patients with AP were analyzed in the meta-analysis. Comparing early EN to late EN or total parental nutrition in AP, the odds ratios (OR) were 0.56 (95% CI 0.23 -1.34) for the risk of mortality, 0.40 (95% CI 0.20-0.79) for multiple organ failure, 0.57 (95% CI 0.23-1.42) for infectious complications, 0.45 (95% CI 0.17-1.21) for adverse events, and 0.83 (95% CI 0.59-1.18) for pancreatic-related infections. Furthermore, subgroup analysis for early EN in predicted severe or SAP showed a significant reduction in multiple organ failure (OR 0.30; 95% CI 0.09-0.96) and pancreatic-related infections (OR 0.51, 95% CI 0.29-0.88). Early EN provided no benefits for mild to moderate AP. Conclusion: Early EN within 24 hours of admission is safe and provides benefits for predicted severe or SAP, but not for mild to moderate pancreatitis.
Enteral Nutrition Within 72 H after Onset of Acute Pancreatitis Vs Delayed Initiation

Abstract:OBJECTIVES: To explore early (within 72 h) vs delayed enteral nutrition (EN) therapy for patients with acute pancreatitis (AP).SUBJECTS/METHODS: A total of 93 patients were allocated to two groups: early enteral nutrition (EEN) group (started within 72 h after onset) and delayed enteral nutrition (DEN) group (started beyond 72 h but within 7 days after onset). Baseline parameters and scores were recorded on admission and on day 3 after the initiation of EN therapy, as were the clinical outcome variables.RESULTS: Hospital mortality, length of stay, number of patients requiring mechanical ventilation and incidence of pancreatic infection in the EEN group were significantly lower than those in the DEN group; all six reported deaths were in the DEN group. In the DEN group, more patients suffered from sepsis, shock or acute kidney injury, and more patients required surgical intervention or continuous renal replacement therapy. On day 3 after EN therapy was initiated, the acute physiology and chronic health evaluation II scores, sequential organ failure assessment scores, C-reactive protein levels and the incidence of bowel wall thickening were lower in the EEN group than in the DEN group. The time when EN therapy was initiated was a prognostic variable for pancreatic infection (odds ratio, 24.08; P = 0.014).CONCLUSIONS: Compared with the DEN therapy, EEN therapy can accelerate the recovery of disturbed homeostasis, reduce the incidence of pancreatic infection and improve the clinical outcomes of AP patients. For AP patients, EN therapy should be initiated within 72 h after onset.
The optimal timing of enteral nutrition and its effect on the prognosis of acute pancreatitis: A propensity score matched cohort study

Abstract:Background: Early enteral nutrition (EN) can improve the prognosis of acute pancreatitis (AP), but the optimal initiation time is unknown. In this study, the optimal time of early EN was analyzed to disclose the application of early EN in AP. Methods: Data of 104 patients with AP were prospectively collected. With secondary infection (infected pancreatic necrosis and extrapancreatic infection) as the primary outcome variable, receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve was used to calculate the optimal cut-off time of early EN. Propensity score matching was used to adjust for covariates. Secondary outcomes include acute gastrointestinal injury (AGI) grades, serum albumin level, and EN-related complications. Results: The ROC curve analysis showed that the third day after hospital admission was the best cut-off time of early EN (with the area under the curve of 0.744). After PS matching, the proportion of secondary infection in the early EN group was significantly lower than the late EN group (8.6% vs. 36.5%, P < 0.05). Regression analysis showed that early EN was a protective factor against secondary infection (OR 0.161, 95%CI 0.036-0.718, P < 0.05). The AGI grades and serum albumin levels were better improved in the early EN group (AGI F = 4.468, P < 0.05; serum albumin F = 3.794, P < 0.05).The proportion of EN-related abdominal distension in the early EN group was significantly lower (8.8% vs. 38.5%, P < 0.05). Conclusions: Early EN initiated within three days could reduce the risk of secondary infection and improve the nutritional status of patients with acute pancreatitis, with a better tolerance.

Abstract:Abstract Methods for creating speckle patterns on mouse arteries for use in deformation and strain field measurements in a stereomicroscope digital image correlation (DIC) system are described. Both fluorescent microsphere binding and ethidium bromide (EB) nuclear staining were used to generate high contrast, random patterns on mouse carotid arteries. To quantify the quality of each pattern, several metrics are used including (a) histogram distribution for each intensity pattern and (b) pixel-level variance in intensity pattern noise. Results demonstrate that both approaches provide sufficient pattern contrast for use in image-based methods to measure deformations in soft tissue. While fluorescent nuclear staining generates higher pixel-level intensity noise, this method provides better overall pattern quality (greater spatial uniformity and broader histogram) for automated DIC analysis when used at the appropriate magnification. Using recently developed theoretical predictions, estimates for the standard deviation in image-correlation-based displacements due to the measured intensity pattern variance are presented for fluorescent microsphere binding and EB nuclear staining patterns. Results confirm that both patterning approaches provide relatively small standard deviation in displacement measurements and hence are appropriate for measurement of deformations in small artery specimens.
Early Versus Delayed Enteral Nutrition In Critically Ill Patients: A Meta-Analysis Of Randomized Controlled Trials

Abstract:Purpose: To evaluate the effect of early enteral nutrition on the outcome of critically ill patients. Methods: PubMed, EMBASE, Springer, and the Cochrane Library were searched. Randomized controlled trials (RCTs) conducted in critically ill patients that compared the early enteral nutrition (EEN), provided within 48 h of intensive care unit (ICU) admission or post-operation, to delayed enteral nutrition (DEN) were included. Results: A total of 1725 patients were included in the 17 RCTs, with 862 in the EEN group and 863 in the control group. Results from a pooled analysis of all the studies demonstrated that early enteral nutrition was associated with significant reductions in overall complications (RR=0.81, 95% CI: 0.70-0.93, P=0.002), in infectious complications (RR=0.68, 95% CI: 0.51-0.91, P=0.009), in pneumonia (RR=0.76, 95% CI: 0.60-0.97, P=0.03), and in length of hospital stay(LOS) (mean difference -1.61; 95% CI: -3.02-0.20; P=0.03), but no difference was found in mortality or multiple organ failure (MOF) (P. > 0.05). Publication bias was found to be significant for the infectious complications (Pr=0.024, P.=0.001). No significant publication bias was found with respect to the other outcomes (Pr or P. > 0.05). Conclusions: Although no significant difference was observed in the risk of mortality, EEN within 48 h can improve the clinical outcomes of critically ill patients compared to DEN.
Early Versus Delayed Enteral Feeding in Predicted Severe Acute Gallstone Pancreatitis: A Retrospective Study

Abstract:Background: The optimal timing of enteral nutrition (EN) initiation in predicted severe acute gallstone pancreatitis (SAGP) and its influence on disease outcomes are not well known. Methods: We conducted a retrospective study of patients with predicted SAGP treated with endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography and EN. The patients were classified into two groups according to the timing of EN initiation after admission: within 48 h, and more than 48 h. The primary outcome was in-hospital mortality. The secondary outcomes were length of hospital stay, need for intensive care admission, need for surgical intervention, improvements in blood test results after 7-10 days of EN, incidence of pancreatic necrosis and infection, and hospital care costs. The microbiological profiles of infectious complications were also evaluated. Results: Of the 98 patients, 31 and 67 started EN within 48 h, and more than 48 h after admission, respectively. Early EN was associated with a decrease in in-hospital mortality (0 vs. 11.9%; p=0.045), length of hospital stay (median:18 vs. 27 days; p=0.001), need for intensive care admission (3.2% vs. 20.9%; p=0.032), and hospital care costs (median:9,289 vs. 13,518 US$; p=0.007), compared to delayed EN. Moreover, early EN for 7-10 days had more beneficial effects on blood test results than delayed EN, including total protein (p=0.03) and CRP (p=0.006) levels. However, the need for surgical intervention and incidence of pancreatic necrosis did not differ between the two groups. In our study, Gram-negative bacteria were the main responsible pathogens (50.5%). Infection with multidrug-resistant organisms (MDRO) was found in 19.4% of the patients. The most common MDRO was MDR Enterococcus faecium. Early EN was not superior in reducing incidence of infected pancreatic necrosis, bacteremia, polymicrobial infection, or MDROs. Conclusions: In patients with predicted SAGP, early EN is associated with a decrease in in-hospital mortality, length of hospital stay, need of intensive care admission, and hospital care costs, compared to delayed EN. There are no significant benefits of early EN in reducing the rate of infection-related complications. Further studies with larger sample sizes are warranted.

Abstract:Background: Enteral nutrition is increasingly advocated in the treatment of acute pancreatitis, but its timing is still controversial. The aim of this meta-analysis was to find out the feasibility of early enteral nutrition within 48 hours of admission and its possible advantages. Methods and findings: We searched PubMed, EMBASE Databases, Web of Science, the Cochrane library, and scholar.google.com for all the relevant articles about the effect of enteral nutrition initiated within 48 hours of admission on the clinical outcomes of acute pancreatitis from inception to December 2012. Eleven studies containing 775 patients with acute pancreatitis were analyzed. Results from a pooled analysis of all the studies demonstrated that early enteral nutrition was associated with significant reductions in all the infections as a whole (OR 0.38; 95%CI 0.21-0.68, P<0.05), in catheter-related septic complications (OR 0.26; 95%CI 0.11-0.58, P<0.05), in pancreatic infection (OR 0.49; 95%CI 0.31-0.78, P<0.05), in hyperglycemia (OR 0.24; 95%CI 0.11-0.52, P<0.05), in the length of hospitalization (mean difference -2.18; 95%CI -3.48-(-0.87); P<0.05), and in mortality (OR 0.31; 95%CI 0.14-0.71, P<0.05), but no difference was found in pulmonary complications (P>0.05). The stratified analysis based on the severity of disease revealed that, even in predicted severe or severe acute pancreatitis patients, early enteral nutrition still showed a protective power against all the infection complications as a whole, catheter-related septic complications, pancreatic infection complications, and organ failure that was only reported in the severe attack of the disease (all P<0.05). Conclusion: Enteral nutrition within 48 hours of admission is feasible and improves the clinical outcomes in acute pancreatitis as well as in predicted severe or severe acute pancreatitis by reducing complications.

Abstract:The tension response of a resting muscle fibre to a sudden small stretch (ca. 1% of the fibre length) at constant velocity was analyzed according to a mechanical model in which two components are arranged in parallel: (i) The parallel elastic component (PEC) which is responsible for the resting tension of the fibre. (ii) The short-range elastic component (SREC) which has a highly non-linear tension response: Initially, the tension increases linearly with stretch, but with further stretch the increase in tension subsides and a steady tension level is attained. Both the initial short-range elastic stiffness and the steady state tension level increased with increasing sarcomere length up to 2.9-3.3 micrometer where both variables reached maximum values. The maximum value of the steady tension level was about 1% of the maximum twitch tension. With further increase of sarcomere length both the short-range elastic stiffness and the steady tension level decreased and approached zero at a sarcomere length of about 3.7 micrometer. The structural basis for the SREC is considered to be myosin heads which are cross-linking the thick and the thin filaments even in the resting state of the fibre.

Abstract:Objectives: In patients with severe acute pancreatitis (SAP), early enteral nutrition (EN) is recommended by major clinical practice guidelines, but the exact timing for the initiation of EN is unknown. Methods: We conducted a post hoc analysis of the database for a multicenter (44 institutions) retrospective study of patients with SAP in Japan. The patients were classified into 3 groups according to the timing of EN initiation after the diagnosis of SAP: within 24 hours, between 24 and 48 hours, and more than 48 hours. The primary outcome was in-hospital mortality. Results: Of the 1094 study patients, 176, 120, and 798 patients started EN within 24 hours, between 24 and 48 hours, and more than 48 hours after SAP diagnosis, respectively. On multivariable analysis, hospital mortality was significantly better with EN within 48 hours than with more than 48 hours (adjusted odds ratio, 0.49; 95% confidence interval, 0.29-0.83; P < 0.001) but did not significantly differ between the groups with EN starting within 24 hours and between 24 and 48 hours (P = 0.29). Conclusions: Enteral nutrition within 24 hours may not confer any additional benefit on clinical outcomes compared with EN between 24 and 48 hours.
Study of early enteral nutrition therapy in patients with acute severe pancreatitis

Abstract:Objective To investigate the effect of early enteral nutrition therapy in acute severe pancreatitis patients. Methods Data of acute severe pancreatitis patients treated in Emergency Medicine Department of Nanjing General Hospital of Nanjing Military Command from January 2013 to February 2015 were collected. A total of 58 cases were randomly divided into the early enteral nutrition in treatment group ( observation group) and the conventional treatment group ( control group) according to randomized digital table. The APACHEⅡ scores, serum albumin and pre?albumin between before and after treatment for 3 weeks of two groups of patients were compared. Results There was no significant difference on APACHEⅡ scoring average between the two groups before treatment (P>0.05). APACHEⅡ scores of the observation group three weeks after treatment were obviously lower than the control group [(1.7± 0.4) vs. (3.0±0.9)] (P<0.05); The average of pre?albumin in the observation group was(263.5±11.4)mg/L, and the values was significantly higher than those in the control group(200.9±15.8)mg/L. Meanwhile, three weeks after treatment, albumin of the two groups was statistically significant [(34.1±2.5)g/L vs. (31.5±3.0)g/L] (P<0.05). Conclusion Early enteral nutrition is important for improving the condition of patients with severe pancreatitis.
Effect of enteral nutrition support on patients with edematous pancreatitis

Abstract:Objective To explore the effect of enteral nutrition support on prognosis of edematous pancreatitis.Methods Totally 100 patients with edematous pancreatitis were enrolled from June 2015 to June 2016 in Peking University Shenzhen Hospital;patients who were admitted from June to December 2015 had parenteral nutrition support based on fasting,gastrointestinal decompression and anti-infection therapy (control group);patients who were admitted from December 2015 to June 2016 had enteral nutrition support based on basic therapies(observation group).After 2 weeks of treatment,scores of Sepsis-related Organ Failure Assessment(SOFA),Acute Physiology and Chronic Health Evaluation Ⅱ (APACHE Ⅱ) and modified Marshall Scale were evaluated;levels of blood glucose and urine amylase,incidence of adverse reactions,recovery time of main symptoms and length of hospital stay were recorded.Results After treatment,scores of APACHE Ⅱ and modified Marshall Scale,levels of blood glucose and urine amylase,incidences of secondary infection and complications in observation group were significantly lower than those in control group [(7.3 ± 1.7) points vs (10.0 ± 1.7) points,(0.8 ± 0.6) points vs (1.2 ± 0.7) points,(6.33 ± 0.16) mmoL/L vs (6.58 ± 0.11) mmol/L,(327 ± 218) U/L vs (544 ± 340)U/L,16.7％ (8/48) vs 38.5％ (20/52),25.0％ (12/48) vs 42.3％ (22/52)] (P ＜ 0.05);systemic inflammatory response syndrome improving time,temperature recovery time,abdominal distension and pain duration time and hospital stay time in observation group were significantly shorter than those in control group [(2.61±0.24)dvs (5.49±1.31)d,(6.6±1.3)dvs (10.2±3.3)d,(2.7±1.0)dvs (5.1 ±1.2)d,(19± 7) d vs (32 ± 7) d] (P ＜ 0.05).Conclusion Enteral nutrition support can effectively relieve illness,reduce complications and promote recovery in patients with edematous pancreatitis.
Early Enteral Nutrition Prevents Intra-abdominal Hypertension and Reduces the Severity of Severe Acute Pancreatitis Compared with Delayed Enteral Nutrition: A Prospective Pilot Study

Abstract:BACKGROUND:To investigate the effects of early enteral nutrition (EEN) on intra-abdominal pressure (IAP) and disease severity in patients with severe acute pancreatitis (SAP).METHODS:Enteral nutrition (EN) was started within 48 h after admission in the EEN group and from the 8th day in the delayed enteral nutrition (DEN) group. The IAP and intra-abdominal hypertension (IAH) incidence were recorded for 2 weeks. The caloric intake and feeding intolerance (FI) incidence were recorded daily after EN was started. The severity markers and clinical outcome variables were also recorded.RESULTS:Sixty patients were enrolled to this study. No difference about IAP was found. The IAH incidence of the EEN group was significantly lower than that of the DEN group from the 9th day (8/30 versus 18/30; P = 0.009) after admission. The FI incidence of the EEN group was higher than that of the DEN group during the initial 3 days of feeding (25/30 versus 12/30; P = 0.001; 22/30 versus 9/30; P = 0.001; 15/30 versus 4/30; P = 0.002). Patients with an IAP <15 mmHg had lower FI incidence than those with an IAP ≥15 mmHg on the 1st day (20/22 versus 17/38; P < 0.001), the 3rd day (11/13 versus 8/47; P < 0.001), and the 7th day (3/5 versus 3/55; P = 0.005) of feeding. The severity markers and clinical outcome variables of the EEN group were significantly improved.CONCLUSIONS:Early enteral nutrition did not increase IAP. In contrast, it might prevent the development of IAH. In addition, EEN might be not appropriate during the initial 3-4 days of SAP onset. Moreover, EN might be of benefit to patients with an IAP <15 mmHg. Early enteral nutrition could improve disease severity and clinical outcome, but did not decrease mortality of SAP.

Abstract:Acute pancreatitis (AP), as a common acute abdominal disease, has shown a significant upward trend in incidence in recent years. [ 1 ] The clinical manifestations of AP are diverse, and the condition progresses rapidly, which can lead to various complications, and in severe cases, even endanger life. [ 2 ] Due to the complexity and urgency of AP, early and accurate diagnosis and timely and effective care are crucial for improving patient prognosis. In recent years, with the advancement of medical technology and the deepening of nursing practice, there has been a deeper research and understanding of early nursing methods and prognostic factors for AP. [ 3 ] However, despite multiple studies focusing on drug therapy and surgical intervention, further exploration is needed on the specific practices and prognostic factors of early care for AP. Early care not only includes basic care such as pain control, nutritional support, and monitoring of patient vital signs, but also involves psychological support and health education. These all have a significant impact on improving the quality of life of patients and reducing the occurrence of complications. [ 4 ] This study analyzes the early admission care and pain occurrence of pancreatitis in the emergency department patients, and explores the pain occurrence and pain relief measures in the current early admission care of pancreatitis patients. This has analyzed and explored the multifaceted impact on the prognosis of patients. This provides a new direction for further clarifying the early pain situation and prognostic factors of pancreatitis in the emergency department patients, as well as new clinical indicators for reducing hospital stay and early care.

Abstract:Background: Although (EEN) is a relatively safer route by which to feed patients with severe acute pancreatitis (SAP) or predicted SAP (pSAP) compared to total parental nutrition (TPN), the appropriate starting time for EEN administration after admission is still controversial. This study pooled all relevant studies to assess the complications associated with EEN by stratifying relevant RCTs into subgroups according to the starting time (<24 h or between 24 and 72 h after admission). Material/methods: Relevant studies were searched for among 5 databases. The association between intervention and complications, including pancreatic infection, mortality, hyperglycemia, organ failure, and catheter-related septic complications, were assessed by using pooled risk ratio (RR) and the corresponding 95% confidential interval (CI). Results: Twelve RCTs were identified through our literature search. Pooled analysis showed that EEN, but not TPN or delayed enteral nutrition (DEN), is associated with reduced risk of pancreatic infection, mortality, organ failure, hyperglycemia, and catheter-related septic complications. EEN within 24 h of admission presented significantly better outcome in morality than EEN between 24 and 72 h. However, no significant heterogeneity was observed in the risk of pancreatic infection, organ failure, hyperglycemia, and catheter-related septic complications between the 2 subgroups. Conclusions: If the patients are reasonably expected to have high compliance to EN therapy, it could be considered as early as possible.

The technique is reliable, reproducible rapid and inexpensive. Here, the principle, the limitations and potentials application of DGGE/TGGE techniques are introduced in this paper.

Abstract:A method for the construction of the crystal potential within the quasi-ion approach is presented and its relation to the Kohn-Sham effective potential is shown. It is demonstrated for Si how this procedure can be used to calculate both the electronic band structure and the phonon dispersion within a simple model for the quasi-ion. Further, the representation of the xc exchange-correlation-potential and the band-structure potential is discussed, with nonlocality effects taken into account.

Abstract:Objective: To observe the effects of early enteral nutrition(EEN) and glutamine-supplemented EEN on the inflammatory response and immune function in patients with severe acute pancreatitis.Methods: This study was a prospective,randomized clinical trial.Sixty patients with SAP were allocated to three groups to receive routine EN(beginning on the 7-10 day after admission),early EN(2-4 day) and glutamine[0.6 g/(kg·d)]supplemented EEN.APACHE-Ⅱ score was used to evaluate the patients after admission.Blood samples were collected on day 1,2,5,7,10,14,30 after admission for CRP,HLA-DR,IL-6 and the concentration of glutamine.Bladder pressure and bowel sound were recorded before and after EN.When the pressure was ﹥25 cmH_2O,or the sound disappeared,EN was stopped in time.Results: ①Those who finished the clinical observation in routine EN group was 17,and the another two groups were all 16.The beginning time of EN in routine EN group was later than the another two groups(P<0.05),and no significant difference was observed among the three groups in tolerance,the EN route,complication and so on(P>0.05).② There was no significant difference among the three groups in APACHEⅡ score,CRP,HLA-DR,IL-6 and the concentration of glutamine on the admission.But at the early phase in the routine EN group,the APACHEⅡ score,CRP and IL-6 were higher than another two groups,the HLA-DR and concentration of glutamine were lower(P<0.05).There were significant differences between the EEN group and glutamine-supplemented EEN group in IL-6,HLA-DR and concentration of glutamine.In glutamine-supplemented EEN group,IL-6 was lower,HLA-DR and concentration of glutamine were higher(P<0.05).③ In patients who did not finish the clinical trial,the APACHEⅡ score,morbidity of MODS and bladder pressure were higher than those finished(P<0.05).Conclusion: The early EN could increase the concentration of glutamine,reduce the inflammatory response and improve the immune function.When the EEN was supplemented with Gln,the beneficial effect was more obvious.

Abstract:Objective:To explore the key points of the observation and nursing of early enteral nutrition in severe acute pancreatitis and the preventive methods and treatment.Methods:65 severe acute pancreatitis patients in SICU(APACHEII≥8) were administrated enteral nutrition when the enteral function were restored.Results:In the 65 cases with 1 141 days of enteral nutrition,54 cases arrived total-quantity enteral nutrition within 1 week and 11 cases had to be reduced because of diarrhea,distention or vomiting.When these symptoms were relieved enteral nutrition was restored and reached total quantity in 2 weeks.In 1141 days of enteral nutrition,there were 18 times of tube occlusion,3 translocation,2 tube shifting,43 days of diarrhea,11 days of constipation,21 complains of abdominal pain or distention and 2 cases with vomiting.During the period of nutrition,there were 17 times of hyperglycemia.64 patients completed the expected enteral nutrition and one patient left hospital. Conclusion:The key nursing points for enteral nutrition in severe acute pancreatitis include preventing and managing the complications such as disorders of enteral or metabolic function and aspiration,as well as modulating the temperature,speed and concentration of enteral nutrition,and keeping the tube unobstructed.

Abstract:Background: This study aims to assess the effect of early enteral nutrition support (EENS) for the management of acute severe pancreatitis (ASP). Methods: This study will search Cochrane Library, PUBMED, EMBASE, Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature, Allied and Complementary Medicine Database, CNKI, and WANGFANG from their inception to the present without language limitations. In addition, this study will also search clinical trial registry and reference lists of included trials. Eligible comparators will be standard care, medications, and any other interventions. Two authors will independently scan all citations, titles/abstracts, and full-text studies. The study methodological quality will be appraised using Cochrane risk of bias tool. If it is possible, we will pool out data and perform meta-analysis. Strength of evidence for each main outcome will be evaluated using the Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development, and Evaluation. Results: This study will summarize the most recent evidence to assess the effect of EENS for the management of ASP. Conclusion: The findings of this study will help to determine whether EENS is effective for patients with ASP. Study registration: INPLASY202070009.
