Abstract:Cerebral ischemia is one of the leading causes of death and disability worldwide. Although revascularization via reperfusion combined with advanced anticoagulant therapy is currently a gold standard treatment for patients, the reperfusion itself also results in a serious dysfunction termed cerebral ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) injury. Silent information regulator 1 (sirtuin 1, SIRT1), is a classic NAD + -dependent deacetylase, which has been proposed as an important mediator in the alleviation of cerebral ischemia through modulating multiple physiological processes, including apoptosis, inflammation, DNA repair, oxidative stress, and autophagy. Recent growing evidence suggests that SIRT1-mediated autophagy plays a key role in the pathophysiological process of cerebral I/R injury. SIRT1 could both activate and inhibit the autophagy process by mediating different autophagy pathways, such as the SIRT1-FOXOs pathway, SIRT1-AMPK pathway, and SIRT1-p53 pathway. However, the autophagic roles of SIRT1 in cerebral I/R injury have not been systematically summarized. Here, in this review, we will first introduce the molecular mechanisms and effects of SIRT1 in cerebral ischemia and I/R injury. Next, we will discuss the involvement of autophagy in the pathogenesis of cerebral I/R injury. Finally, we will summarize the latest advances in the interaction between SIRT1 and autophagy in cerebral I/R injury. A good understanding of these relationships would serve to consolidate a framework of mechanisms underlying SIRT1’s neuroprotective effects and provides evidence for the development of drugs targeting SIRT1.
Sirt3 is a Novel Target to Treat Sepsis Induced Myocardial Dysfunction by Acetylated Modulation of Critical Enzymes Within Cardiac Tricarboxylic Acid Cycle

Abstract:Sepsis induced myocardial dysfunction (SIMD) results in high morbidity and mortality. However, the effective therapeutic strategies for SIMD treatment remain limited. Sirt3 is the main mitochondrial Sirtuin member and is a key modulator of mitochondrial metabolism and function. In this study, we aimed to investigate the effect and mechanism of Sirt3 on SIMD. SIMD was induced by 20 mg/kg Lipopolysaccharides (LPS) injection for 6 h in mice. Sepsis could induce the reduction of cardiac Sirt3 expression and global deficiency of Sirt3 exacerbated cardiac function. Quantitative acetyl-proteomics and cardiac metabolomics analysis revealed that loss of Sirt3 led to hyper-acetylation of critical enzymes within cardiac tricarboxylic acid (TCA) cycle and generation of lactate and NADH, subsequently promotion of cardiac dysfunction after sepsis. Additionally, to evaluate whether Emodin could be utilized as a potential Sirt3 modulator to treat SIMD, male wild type mice (WT mice) or global Sirt3 deficient mice (Sirt3-/- mice) were intraperitoneally injected with 40 mg/kg Emodin for 5 days followed by 20 mg/kg LPS administration for another 6 h and observed that exogenous administration of Emodin could attenuate myocardial dysfunction in septic WT mice. However, septic Sirt3-/- mice can not gain benefit on cardiac performance from Emodin infusion. In conclusion, this study presented the protective role of Sirt3 targeting SIMD, which may provide a potential novel approach to maintain normal cardiac performance after sepsis.

Breaking the vicious cycle: Targeting the NLRP3 inflammasome for treating sepsis-associated encephalopathy

Abstract:Sepsis-associated encephalopathy (SAE) is a collection of clinical syndromes resulting from sepsis and characterized by widespread brain dysfunction. The high prevalence of SAE has adverse outcomes on the clinical management and prognosis of sepsis patients. However, currently, there are no effective treatments to ameliorate SAE. The pathogenesis of SAE is complex, including neuroinflammation and microglia activation, destruction of the blood-brain barrier (BBB), neurotransmitter dysfunction, cerebral metabolism and mitochondrial impairment, accumulation of amyloid beta and tauopathy, complement activation, among others. Furthermore, these mechanisms intertwine with each other, further complicating the comprehension of SAE. Among them, neuroinflammation mediated by hyperactivated microglia is considered the primary etiology of SAE. This instigates a detrimental cycle wherein BBB permeability escalates, facilitating direct damage to the central nervous system (CNS) by various neurotoxic substances. Activation of the NLRP3 inflammasome, situated within microglia, can be triggered by diverse danger signals, leading to cell pyroptosis, apoptosis, and tauopathy. These complex processes intricately regulate the onset and progression of neuroinflammation. In this review, we focus on elucidating the inhibitory regulatory mechanism of the NLRP3 inflammasome in microglia, which ultimately manifests as suppression of the inflammatory response. Our ultimate objective is to augment comprehension regarding the role of microglial NLRP3 inflammasome as we explore potential targets for therapeutic interventions against SAE.
Efficacy of morning-only 4 liter sulfa free polyethylene glycol vs 2 liter polyethylene glycol with ascorbic acid for afternoon colonoscopy.

Abstract:AIM To compare the bowel cleansing efficacy of same day ingestion of 4-L sulfa-free polyethylene glycol (4-L SF-PEG) vs 2-L polyethylene glycol solution with ascorbic acid (2-L PEG + Asc) in patients undergoing afternoon colonoscopy. METHODS 206 patients (mean age 56.7 years, 61% male) undergoing outpatient screening or surveillance colonoscopies were prospectively randomized to receive either 4-L SF-PEG (n = 104) or 2-L PEG + Asc solution (n = 102). Colonoscopies were performed by two blinded endoscopists. Bowel preparation was graded using the Ottawa scale. Each participant completed a satisfaction and side effect survey. RESULTS There was no difference in patient demographics amongst groups. 4-L SF-PEG resulted in better Ottawa scores compared to 2-L PEG + Asc, 4.2 vs 4.9 (P = 0.0186); left colon: 1.33 vs 1.57 respectively (P = 0.0224), right colon: 1.38 vs 1.63 respectively (P = 0.0097). No difference in Ottawa scores was found for the mid colon or amount of fluid. Patient satisfaction was similar for both arms but those assigned to 4-L SF-PEG reported less bloating: 23.1% vs 11.5% (P = 0.0235). Overall polyp detection, adenomatous polyp and advanced adenoma detection rates were similar between the two groups. CONCLUSION Morning only 4-L SF-PEG provided superior cleansing with less bloating as compared to 2-L PEG + Asc bowel preparation for afternoon colonoscopy. Thus, future studies evaluating efficacy of morning only preparation for afternoon colonoscopy should use 4-L SF-PEG as the standard comparator.

Abstract:Sepsis often results in damage to multiple organ systems, possibly due to severe mitochondrial dysfunction. Two members of the sirtuin family, SIRT1 and SIRT3, have been implicated in the reversal of mitochondrial damage. The aim of this study was to determine the role of SIRT1/3 in acute kidney injury (AKI) following sepsis in a septic rat model. After drug pretreatment and cecal ligation and puncture (CLP) model reproduction in the rats, we performed survival time evaluation and kidney tissue extraction and renal tubular epithelial cell (RTEC) isolation. We observed reduced SIRT1/3 activity, elevated acetylated SOD2 (ac-SOD2) levels and oxidative stress, and damaged mitochondria in RTECs following sepsis. Treatment with resveratrol (RSV), a chemical SIRT1 activator, effectively restored SIRT1/3 activity, reduced acetylated SOD2 levels, ameliorated oxidative stress and mitochondrial function of RTECs, and prolonged survival time. However, the beneficial effects of RSV were greatly abrogated by Ex527, a selective inhibitor of SIRT1. These results suggest a therapeutic role for SIRT1 in the reversal of AKI in septic rat, which may rely on SIRT3-mediated deacetylation of SOD2. SIRT1/3 activation could therefore be a promising therapeutic strategy to treat sepsis-associated AKI.

Abstract:Sepsis causes significant morbidity and mortality worldwide, most surviving patients show acute or chronic mental disorders, which are known as sepsis-associated encephalopathy (SAE). SAE involves many pathological processes, including the blood-brain barrier (BBB) damage. The BBB is located at the interface between the central nervous system and the surrounding environment, which protects the central nervous system (CNS) from the invasion of exogenous molecules, harmful substances or microorganisms in the blood. Recently, a growing number of studies have indicated that the BBB destruction was involved in SAE and played an important role in SAE-induced brain injury. In the present review, we firstly reveal the pathological processes of SAE such as the neurotransmitter disorders, oxidative stress, immune dysfunction and BBB destruction. Moreover, we introduce the structure of BBB, and describe the immune cells including microglia and astrocytes that participate in the BBB destruction after SAE. Furthermore, in view of the current research on non-coding RNAs (ncRNAs), we explain the regulatory mechanism of ncRNAs including long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs), microRNAs (miRNAs) and circular RNAs (circRNAs) on BBB in the processes of SAE. Finally, we propose some challenges and perspectives of regulating BBB functions in SAE. Hence, on the basis of these effects, both immune cells and ncRNAs may be developed as therapeutic targets to protect BBB for SAE patients.

SIRT1 Activation by Resveratrol Reduces Brain Edema and Neuronal Apoptosis in an Experimental Rat Subarachnoid Hemorrhage Model

Abstract:Early brain injury is considered to be a major risk that is related to the prognosis of subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH). In SAH model rats, brain edema and apoptosis have been closely related with death rate and neurological function. Sirtuin 1 (SIRT1) was reported to be involved in apoptosis in cerebral ischemia and brain tumor formation through p53 deacetylation. The present study aimed to evaluate the role of SIRT1 in a rat endovascular perforation model of SAH. The SIRT1 activator resveratrol (RES) was administered 48 h prior to SAH induction and the SIRT1 inhibitor Sirtinol (SIR) was used to reverse the effects of RES on SIRT1 expression. Mortality rate, neurological function and brain water content were measured 24 h post-SAH induction. Proteins associated with the blood brain barrier (BBB), apoptosis and SIRT1 in the cortex, such as zona occludens 1 (ZO-1), occludin, claudin-5, SIRT1, p53 and cleaved caspase3 were investigated. mRNA expression of the p53 downstream molecules including Bcl-associated X protein, P53 upregulated modulator of apoptosis, Noxa and BH3 interacting-domain death agonist were also investigated. Neuronal apoptosis was also investigated by immunofluorescence. RES pretreatment reduced the mortality rate and improved neurological function, which was consistent with reduced brain water content and neuronal apoptosis; these effects were partially reversed by co-treatment with SIR. SIRT1 may reduce the brain water content by improvement of dysfunctional BBB permeability, and protein analysis revealed that both ZO-1, occludin and claudin-5 may be involved, and these effects were reversed by SIRT1 inhibition. SIRT1 may also affect apoptosis post-SAH through p53 deacetylation, and the analysis of p53 related downstream pro-apoptotic molecules supported this hypothesis. Localization of neuron specific apoptosis revealed that SIRT1 may regulate neuronal apoptosis following SAH. SIRT1 may also ease brain edema and neuronal protection through BBB improvement and p53 deacetylation. SIRT1 activators such as RES may have the potential to improve the prognosis of patients with SAH and clinical research should be investigated further.
TIPE2 ameliorates neuroinflammation and cognitive impairment in sepsis-associated encephalopathy through regulating RhoA/ROCK2–NF-κB signaling pathway

Abstract:Sepsis-associated encephalopathy (SAE) is an acute brain dysfunction induced by systemic inflammation caused by sepsis and is one of the most common types of encephalopathy in intensive care units. Deteriorative neuroinflammation is closely related to the development of brain injury, which often transforms into common pathological manifestations in patients with severe sepsis. Therefore, taking necessary preventive and protective measures for potential brain injury and promptly reducing neuroinflammatory injury is necessary to improve the long-term prognoses of patients. TIPE2 can play a significant protective role in septic lung injury, but studies on its expression and role in neurological diseases are rare. In the present study, we found that TIPE2 can expressed in microglia and ameliorate brain injury caused by SAE by suppressing neuroinflammation. The RhoA/ROCK2 pathway is the central coordinator of tissue injury response, and the activation of RhoA participates in the lipopolysaccharide-induced activation of the nuclear factor kappa B (NF-κB) signaling pathway. The activation of RhoA and phosphorylation of NF-κB was enhanced after TIPE2 deficiency. Importantly, TIPE2 negatively regulates inflammatory responses in vivo and in vitro and plays a protective role in SAE by inhibiting the activation of RhoA/ROCK2–NF-κB signaling pathways. The ultimate aim of our proposed project is to provide a theoretical basis for the development of a novel strategy for the early prevention and therapy of SAE.

Differential role of SIRT1/MAPK pathway during cerebral ischemia in rats and humans

Abstract:Cerebral ischemia (CI) is a severe cause of neurological dysfunction and mortality. Sirtuin-1 (Silent information regulator family protein 1, SIRT1), an oxidized nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD+)-dependent protein deacetylase, plays an important role in protection against several neurodegenerative disorders. The present study aims to investigate the protective role of SIRT1 after CI in experimental young and aged rats and humans. Also, the study examines the possible regulatory mechanisms of neuronal death in CI settings. Immunoblotting and immunohistochemistry were used to evaluate changes in the expression of SIRT1, JNK/ERK/MAPK/AKT signaling, and pro-apoptotic caspase-3 in experimental rats and CI patients. The study findings demonstrated that, in aged experimental rats, SIRT1 activation positively influenced JNK and ERK phosphorylation and modulated neuronal survival in AKT-dependent manner. Further, the protection conferred by SIRT1 was effectively reversed by JNK inhibition and increased pro-apoptotic caspase-3 expression. In young experimental rats, SIRT1 activation decreased the phosphorylation of stress-induced JNK, ERK, caspase-3, and increased the phosphorylation of AKT after CI. Inhibition of SIRT1 reversed the protective effect of resveratrol. More importantly, in human patients, SIRT1 expression, phosphorylation of JNK/ERK/MAPK/AKT signaling and caspase-3 were up-regulated. In conclusion, SIRT1 could possibly be involved in the modulation of JNK/ERK/MAPK/AKT signaling pathway in experimental rats and humans after CI.

Abstract:Sirtuins are the class III of histone deacetylases whose deacetylate of histones is dependent on nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD+). Among seven sirtuins, SIRT1 plays a critical role in modulating a wide range of physiological processes, including apoptosis, DNA repair, inflammatory response, metabolism, cancer, and stress. Neuroinflammation is associated with many neurological diseases, including ischemic stroke, bacterial infections, traumatic brain injury, Alzheimer's disease (AD), and Parkinson's disease (PD). Recently, numerous studies indicate the protective effects of SIRT1 in neuroinflammation-related diseases. Here, we review the latest progress regarding the anti-inflammatory and neuroprotective effects of SIRT1. First, we introduce the structure, catalytic mechanism, and functions of SIRT1. Next, we discuss the molecular mechanisms of SIRT1 in the regulation of neuroinflammation. Finally, we analyze the mechanisms and effects of SIRT1 in several common neuroinflammation-associated diseases, such as cerebral ischemia, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, AD, and PD. Taken together, this information implies that SIRT1 may serve as a promising therapeutic target for the treatment of neuroinflammation-associated disorders.

Abstract:Abstract Sepsis is a life-threatening organ dysfunction caused by a dysregulated host response to infection. Sepsis causes cerebral dysfunction in the short and long term and induces disruption of the blood–brain barrier (BBB), neuroinflammation, hypoperfusion, and accumulation of amyloid β (Aβ) and tau protein in the brain. White matter changes and brain atrophy can be detected using brain imaging, but unfortunately, there is no specific treatment that directly addresses the underlying mechanisms of cognitive impairments in sepsis. Here, we review the underlying mechanisms of sepsis-associated brain injury, with a focus on BBB dysfunction and Aβ and tau protein accumulation in the brain. We also describe the neurological manifestations and imaging findings of sepsis-associated brain injury, and finally, we propose potential therapeutic strategies for acute and long-term cognitive impairments associated with sepsis. In the acute phase of sepsis, we suggest using antibiotics (such as rifampicin), targeting proinflammatory cytokines, and preventing ischemic injuries and hypoperfusion. In the late phase of sepsis, we suggest targeting neuroinflammation, BBB dysfunction, Aβ and tau protein phosphorylation, glycogen synthase kinase-3 beta (GSK3β), and the receptor for advanced glycation end products (RAGE). These proposed strategies are meant to bring new mechanism-based directions for future basic and clinical research aimed at preventing or ameliorating acute and long-term cognitive impairments in patients with sepsis.

Abstract:Sepsis-associated encephalopathy (SAE), a common neurological complication of sepsis, is a heterogenous complex clinical syndrome caused by the dysfunctional response of a host to infection. This dysfunctional response leads to excess mortality and morbidity worldwide. Despite clinical relevance with high incidence, there is a lack of understanding for its both its acute/chronic pathogenesis and therapeutic management. A better understanding of the molecular mechanisms behind SAE may provide tools to better enhance therapeutic efficacy. Mounting evidence indicates that some types of non-apoptotic regulated cell death (RCD), such as ferroptosis, pyroptosis, and autophagy, contribute to SAE. Targeting these types of RCD may provide meaningful targets for future treatments against SAE. This review summarizes the core mechanism by which non-apoptotic RCD leads to the pathogenesis of SAE. We focus on the emerging types of therapeutic compounds that can inhibit RCD and delineate their beneficial pharmacological effects against SAE. Within this review we suggest that pharmacological inhibition of non-apoptotic RCD may serve as a potential therapeutic strategy against SAE.

Abstract:Cell biomechanical changes in cancer progression During cancer progression, cells undergo numerous genetic and epigenetic changes that impact various cellular functions such as motility, adhesion, proliferation and signaling. These fundamental changes are accompanied by alterations in the cellular structural cytoskeleton which modulates cell biomechanical properties [1]. The biomechanical changes in cells during cancer progression can potentially enable invasion of metastatic cells into the surrounding tissues to access the circulatory system and establish secondary tumors [2]. This suggests that malignancy and the metastatic potential of cancer cells are correlated with their biomechanical phenotype. Advances in nanotechnology and microfluidics facilitate interrogation of the biomechanical properties of single cells and can be directed toward identification of labelfree cues to predict the risk of cancer invasiveness and metastatic potential in its early stages.
β-Nicotinamide mononucleotide activates NAD+/SIRT1 pathway and attenuates inflammatory and oxidative responses in the hippocampus regions of septic mice

Abstract:Sepsis-associated encephalopathy (SAE) is one of the common serious complications in sepsis, and the pathogenesis of SAE remains unclear. Sirtuin 1 (SIRT1) has been reported to be downregulated in the hippocampus and SIRT1 agonists can attenuated the cognitive dysfunction in septic mice. Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD+) is a key substrate to maintain the deacetylation activity of SIRT1. As an intermediate of NAD+, β-Nicotinamide Mononucleotide (NMN) has been reported to be promising in treating neurodegenerative diseases and cerebral ischemic injury. Thus we sought to investigate the potential role of NMN in SAE treatment. The SAE model was established by cecal ligation and puncture (CLP) in vivo , and neuroinflammation model was established with LPS-treated BV-2 cells in vitro . Memory impairment was assessed by Morris water maze and fear conditioning tests. As a result, the levels of NAD+, SIRT1 and PGC-1α were significantly reduced in the hippocampus of septic mice, while the acetylation of total lysine, phosphorylation of P38 and P65 were enhanced. All these changes induced by sepsis were inverted by NMN. Treating with NMN resulted in improved behavior performance in the fear conditioning tests and Morris water maze. Apoptosis, inflammatory and oxidative responses in the hippocampus of septic mice were attenuated significantly after NMN administration. These protective effect of NMN against memory dysfunction, inflammatory and oxidative injuries were reversed by the SIRT1 inhibitor, EX-527. Similarly, LPS-induced activation of BV-2 cells were attenuated by NMN, EX-527 or SIRT1 knockdown could reverse such effect of NMN in vitro . In conclusion, NMN is protective against sepsis-induced memory dysfunction, and the inflammatory and oxidative injuries in the hippocampus region of septic mice. The NAD+/SIRT1 pathway might be involved in one of the mechanisms of the protective effect.

Abstract:Subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) is a prevalent cerebrovascular disease with significant global mortality and morbidity rates. Despite advancements in pharmacological and surgical approaches, the quality of life for SAH survivors has not shown substantial improvement. Traditionally, vasospasm has been considered a primary contributor to death and disability following SAH, but anti-vasospastic therapies have not demonstrated significant benefits for SAH patients' prognosis. Emerging studies suggest that early brain injury (EBI) may play a crucial role in influencing SAH prognosis. Sirtuins (SIRTs), a group of NAD + -dependent deacylases comprising seven mammalian family members (SIRT1 to SIRT7), have been found to be involved in neural tissue development, plasticity, and aging. They also exhibit vital functions in various central nervous system (CNS) processes, including cognition, pain perception, mood, behavior, sleep, and circadian rhythms. Extensive research has uncovered the multifaceted roles of SIRTs in CNS disorders, offering insights into potential markers for pathological processes and promising therapeutic targets (such as SIRT1 activators and SIRT2 inhibitors). In this article, we provide an overview of recent research progress on the application of SIRTs in subarachnoid hemorrhage and explore their underlying mechanisms of action.

Abstract:Sepsis is a life-threatening condition resulting from an inflammatory overreaction that is induced by an infectious factor, which leads to multi-organ failure. Sepsis-associated encephalopathy (SAE) is a common complication of sepsis that can lead to acute cognitive and consciousness disorders, and no strict diagnostic criteria have been created for the complication thus far. The etiopathology of SAE is not fully understood, but plausible mechanisms include neuroinflammation, blood–brain barrier disruption, altered cerebral microcirculation, alterations in neurotransmission, changes in calcium homeostasis, and oxidative stress. SAE may also lead to long-term consequences such as dementia and post-traumatic stress disorder. This review aims to provide a comprehensive summary of substances with neuroprotective properties that have the potential to offer neuroprotection in the treatment of SAE. An extensive literature search was conducted, extracting 71 articles that cover a range of substances, including plant-derived drugs, peptides, monoclonal antibodies, and other commonly used drugs. This review may provide valuable insights for clinicians and researchers working in the field of sepsis and SAE and contribute to the development of new treatment options for this challenging condition.

Abstract:Sepsis-associated encephalopathy (SAE) is a diffuse brain dysfunction caused by sepsis that manifests as a range of brain dysfunctions from delirium to coma. It is a relatively common complication of sepsis associated with poor patient prognosis and mortality. The pathogenesis of SAE involves neuroinflammatory responses, neurotransmitter dysfunction, blood-brain barrier (BBB) disruption, abnormal blood flow regulation, etc. Neuroinflammation caused by hyperactivation of microglia is considered to be a key factor in disease development, which can cause a series of chain reactions, including BBB disruption and oxidative stress. Metabolic reprogramming has been found to play a central role in microglial activation and executive functions. In this review, we describe the pivotal role of energy metabolism in microglial activation and functional execution and demonstrate that the regulation of microglial metabolic reprogramming might be crucial in the development of clinical therapeutics for neuroinflammatory diseases like SAE.
Sirtuin 1 Activation Protects Against Early Brain Injury after Experimental Subarachnoid Hemorrhage in Rats.

Abstract:Increasing evidence indicates that sirtuin 1 (SIRT1) is implicated in a wide range of cellular functions, such as oxidative stress, inflammation and apoptosis. The aim of this study was to investigate the change of SIRT1 in the brain after subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) and its role on SAH-induced early brain injury (EBI). In the first set of experiments, rats were randomly divided into sham group and SAH groups at 2, 6, 12, 24, 48 and 72 h. The expression of SIRT1 was evaluated by western blot analysis, immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescence. In another set of experiments, SIRT1-specific inhibitor (sirtinol) and activator (activator 3) were exploited to study the role of SIRT1 in SAH-induced EBI. It showed that the protein level of SIRT1 was markedly elevated at the early stage of SAH and peaked at 24 h after SAH. The expression of SIRT1 could be observed in neurons and microglia, and the enhanced SIRT1 was mainly located in neurons after SAH. Administration of sirtinol inhibited the expression and activation of SIRT1 pathways after SAH, while activator 3 enhanced the expression and activation of SIRT1 pathways after SAH. In addition, inhibition of SIRT1 could exacerbate forkhead transcription factors of the O class-, nuclear factor-kappa B- and p53-induced oxidative damage, neuroinflammation and neuronal apoptosis, leading to aggravated brain injury after SAH. In contrast, activator 3 treatment could reduce forkhead transcription factors of the O class-, nuclear factor-kappa B-, and p53-induced oxidative damage, neuroinflammation and neuronal apoptosis to protect against EBI. These results suggest that SIRT1 plays an important role in neuroprotection against EBI after SAH by deacetylation and subsequent inhibition of forkhead transcription factors of the O class-, nuclear factor-kappa B-, and p53-induced oxidative, inflammatory and apoptotic pathways. SIRT1 might be a new promising molecular target for SAH.
