Abstract:Nursing students entering psychiatric settings for clinical practice need a solid foundation of therapeutic communication skills. This article presents an innovative strategy for nursing students to practice therapeutic communication skills with psychiatric patients by using hi fidelity simulation with Laerdal SimMan. Using the SimMan vocal function enabled nurse educators to develop communication algorithms that allowed students to interact with SimMan as they would with psychiatric patients. The SimMan algorithms can be designed to mimic many scenarios typically found in psychiatric settings. Nursing students can use this technology to take the therapeutic communication skills they have learned in the classroom and practice them in a safe laboratory environment before entering actual psychiatric settings. The ability of students to practice communication skills prior to entering psychiatric settings can promote effective therapeutic communication skills and decrease student anxiety.

Abstract:Background Effective communication skills for clinical practice are essential for all advanced practice nurses. However, competence in these skills is not necessarily intuitive. Advanced communication skills should be taught in a way that is similar to the way other psychomotor skills in advanced nursing practice programs are taught. Objectives To develop a patient communication simulation laboratory for the acute care nurse practitioner program at a major university and to evaluate students’ perceived confidence and communication effectiveness before and immediately as well as 4 months after completion of the laboratory. Methods The communication simulation laboratory was developed in collaboration with faculty from the schools of nursing and medicine. Students participated in a didactic session and then completed a 2-hour communication simulation in the laboratory. Content and simulation concentrated on breaking “bad news,” empathetic communication, motivational interviewing, and the “angry” patient. Students’ self-reported confidence and perceived skill in communication were measured via a Likert scale before, immediately after, and 4 months after completion of the laboratory simulation. Students also evaluated the experience by responding to open-ended questions. Results Compared with baseline findings (before the lecture and simulation), students’ confidence in initiating difficult conversations increased significantly both immediately (P<.001) and 4 months after (P=.001) the laboratory simulation. Students’ self-ratings of overall ability to communicate were also significantly greater immediately (P<.001) and 4 months (P=.001) after the simulation. Overall, students rated the laboratory simulation experience highly beneficial. Conclusions The content and methods used for the simulation improved students’ confidence and perceived skill in communication in potentially difficult acute care situations.

Abstract:Background Therapeutic communication is essential for nurses to foster rapport with patients and promote safe patient care. Nursing students frequently identify that patient communication is challenging. Limited evidence exists related to simulation with standardized patients focused on therapeutic communication outside of psychiatric and mental health settings in nursing education. This pilot study investigated the effect of therapeutic communication simulation with standardized patients on first-year baccalaureate nursing students' therapeutic communication skill. Methods One-hundred thirty-two baccalaureate nursing students participated in this two-group quasi-experimental pilot study. Members of the control group participated in standard learning activities related to therapeutic communication, while members of the experimental group also engaged in a therapeutic communication simulation-based experience with standardized patients. Results The experimental group had significantly higher therapeutic communication skill than the control group. Conclusion Simulation with standardized patients supports therapeutic communication skill development. More research is needed to understand the impact of simulation with standardized patients on nursing students' outcomes related to therapeutic communication outside of psychiatric and mental health nursing, including therapeutic communication knowledge and transfer of skill.

Abstract:Two species of particles in a binary granular system typically do not have the same mean kinetic energy, in contrast to the equipartition of energy required in equilibrium. We investigate the role of the heating mechanism in determining the extent of nonequipartition of kinetic energy. In most experiments, different species are unequally heated at the boundaries. We show by event-driven simulations that differential boundary heating affects nonequipartition even in the bulk of the system. This conclusion is fortified by studying numerical and solvable stochastic models without spatial degrees of freedom. In both cases, even in the limit where heating events are rare compared to collisions, the effect of the heating mechanism persists.
The effects of high-fidelity simulation training on empathy and attitudes toward older people among undergraduate nursing students: A quasi-experimental study

Abstract:Aim: To evaluate the effects of high-fidelity simulation training on attitudes towards older people and empathy among undergraduate nursing students. Background: People worldwide are living longer and, consequently, the number of older people is increasing globally. Geriatric syndromes are highly prevalent and associated with increased morbidity and mortality in this population. Positive attitudes towards older people and high levels of empathy are necessary for the provision of high-quality nursing care, which will contribute towards improving the quality of life of older patients affected by these syndromes. Methods: A quasi-experimental study was conducted using a longitudinal design with a single group and a pre- and post-intervention evaluation. The development of attitudes towards older people and empathy skills were evaluated using high-fidelity simulation-based training, comparing the levels obtained in these skills at baseline and after the simulation experience. The simulated scenarios recreated the great geriatric syndromes in older patients: instability, immobility, intellectual impairment and incontinence. Results: After the simulation sessions, nursing students significantly improved their total scores for both attitudes toward older people and empathy, moreover, improvements were found in the three subscales of empathy. The effect size was large for the total scores of both the attitudes towards older people and the empathy scales and the 'perspective taking' subscale. The obtained effect size was small for the 'compassionate care' subscale, whereas for the 'standing in the patient's shoes' subscale, the obtained effect size was medium. Conclusions: Our high-fidelity simulation-based training allows undergraduate nursing students to improve their empathy levels and positive attitudes toward older people. The development of these skills may provide benefits directly related to high-quality care for older patients. Therefore, the inclusion of simulation training programs in geriatric nursing study plans is necessary to train nursing students in the care of older people and to prepare them for real clinical practice.

Abstract:Background: Simulation-based training is a new strategy in teaching that gives the students good opportunities to learn and apply what they learn in nursing care safely. Aim: This study conducted to evaluate the effects of simulation-based training on nursing students’ communication skill, self-efficacy and clinical competence in practice. Subjects and Methods: Quiz-experimental design was used in this study (pre-posttest intervention), it was carried out on 100 nursing students first semester in 2019 using low and high-fidelity simulators. This study was carried out at College of Applied Medical Sciences-Bshia University. Data Collection: demographic data, communication skill, self-efficacy and clinical competence questionnaires. Analysis is done by SPSS version 20 software. Results: Participants who received the simulation-based training, showed statistical significant improvement in communication skill, self-efficacy, and clinical competence scores after participation in the simulation program (t = −32.64, p = 0.001; t = −19.9, p = 0.001; 16.4, p = 0.001). Also, there are significant relation between gender and clinical competency (t = 2.768, p < 0.05). Conclusion: Simulation-based training in medical courses is effective in enhancing communication skill, self-efficacy and clinical competence. Multiple-patient simulations as a teaching-learning strategy in the nursing curriculum are highly recommended.

Abstract:Summary The identification of novel targets for controlling the sheep blowfly is an important process for discovering new generation compounds that are safer and more environmentally friendly. Experiments in our laboratory have indicated a role for serine proteases in influencing egg hatching in the sheep blowfly. Isolation of the proteases involved using benzamidine affinity chromatography identified a group of molecules with homology to both trypsin and chymotrypsin-like proteases. These proteases represent potential new targets for controlling egg hatching in the sheep blowfly.

Abstract:BACKGROUND: The stigma of psychosis, with the accompanying symptoms of auditory and visual hallucinations, can affect a nurse’s ability to provide safe, effective care. Increasing knowledge of the patient’s perspective during auditory hallucinations can increase the nurse’s ability to be empathetic and engage in a therapeutic alliance. OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the efficacy of a six-second auditory hallucination simulation to increase empathy in preclinical undergraduate nursing students. DESIGN: This descriptive, content analysis, qualitative study evaluated narratives written by students in a pre-licensure baccalaureate nursing student population, assessing empathy, insight, knowledge, and therapeutic communication. Students experienced the 6-second auditory hallucination simulation as part of preclinical instruction, and then they wrote a self-reflection. RESULTS: More than 200 self-reflections were collected, with a randomized final sample of 82 narratives evaluated. CONCLUSION: Self-reflections indicated that the experience of the 6-second hearing voices simulation increased efficacy, insight, knowledge, and intention to use therapeutic communication.

Abstract:BACKGROUND: According to The Joint Commission (2012), the leading cause of sentinel events in the United States was miscommunication. Lack of thorough and accurate communication remains a serious challenge in healthcare and an educational priority in schools of nursing. Virtual clinical simulation is an online educational approach where students use avatars to practice various skills.OBJECTIVES: The purpose of this pilot study was to evaluate the educational innovation of using virtual clinical simulation to improve communication skills of BSN students. The objectives of the simulations were to 1) recognize significant patient data and 2) accurately perform the ISBAR communication technique.DESIGN: The study used a within-group, time-series design with eight students. Students participated in two synchronous virtual simulations in an online virtual clinical environment called CliniSpace. Students performed in groups of four to five students.METHODS: Students performed in two virtual simulations in groups of four to five students. Student performances were scored by two raters using the CliniSpace ISBAR Rating Sheet. Field notes from debriefing sessions were analyzed for content.RESULTS: Mean group student performance scores more than doubled from performance one to performance two. This change was found to be statistically significant, p<.001. Field notes revealed that students listened to how their peers communicated and learned from them. Students expressed having less anxiety, knowing what to expect, and having "better flow" with communication. Students verbalized learning to assess the patient prior to calling the physician and to give a recommendation to the physician.

Third-year undergraduate nursing students' perceptions of high-fidelity simulation

Abstract:High-fidelity simulation, with the potential to enhance cognitive, associative, and autonomous skills, can help students develop clinical reasoning. This study examined third-year students' (N = 300) perceptions about the implementation of high-fidelity simulation into an existing clinical course. Data were collected using an evaluation form completed by students after the simulation. Students perceived high-fidelity simulation as enjoyable, with an appropriate degree of challenge yet possessing congruency with concepts studied in the course. Students' transient feelings of confusion were interpreted as a natural component of the problem solving process as they analyzed, clustered, and interpreted cues to respond to rapid changes in the simulated patient's clinical condition. Debriefing was viewed as an important component and assisted in clarifying students' knowledge and rationale for practice. Further research is required on the relationship between the degree of confusion and its impact on learning and whether high-fidelity simulation increases the ability to reason in the clinical setting.
Impact of Standardized Patients on First Semester Nursing Students Self-Confidence, Satisfaction, and Communication in a Simulated Clinical Case

Abstract:Background Utilizing standardized patients (SPs) as a strategy to potentially improve beginning level nursing students’ confidence, satisfaction, and communication after simulated clinical cases is an innovative approach in nursing education. Aim The aim of this study was to examine to what extent an SP affected first semester nursing students’ self-confidence, satisfaction, and communication using a simulated clinical case. Methods First semester undergraduate students in a bachelors of nursing program at a large university in the South-Central region of the United States ( N = 100), were randomly assigned to one of the two groups. Each group was assigned the same case using either an SP or high-fidelity manikin. Students completed postsurveys immediately following completion of the simulation. Student’s self-confidence, satisfaction, and communication were measured using the National League for Nursing Student Satisfaction and Self-Confidence in Learning for Nursing Education Research and an SP/Faculty Communication Checklist. Results An independent sample t test comparing the two student groups on each of the outcome variables was conducted for each of the research questions. Students who completed the simulation with an SP, reported greater satisfaction, and improved communication. Student reflective comments were significantly more positive in the SP group. There was no statistical difference between the two groups in self-confidence. Conclusion Further research is needed to determine whether the use of SPs versus high-fidelity manikins in simulated cases results in increased self-confidence in beginning level nursing students. Student satisfaction and communication are key components for nursing student success. The impact of SPs and the effect on student outcomes could have long-term benefits for undergraduate nursing programs.
Does adopting the role of the patient promote positive changes in student empathy, compassion, and communication skills?

Abstract:Simulation-based education is frequently used to develop empathic behaviours in medical and nursing students [1] however to our knowledge, there is no previous literature that develops such behaviours by allowing students to adopt the role of simulated patient as they are admitted acutely to hospital. The aim of our project was to explore changes in empathy, compassion, and communication styles by asking students to adopt the role of the simulated patient during the undergraduate multidisciplinary simulation. Undergraduate final and penultimate year medical and nursing students who were undertaking their emergency medicine rotations were asked to participate. The simulation was delivered every 5 weeks, with one student adopting the role of the patient during the scenario. Two other students involved in the scenario adopted the role of the nurse and physician respectively. Data was collected via questionnaires and focus groups which were conducted immediately following the simulation. Questionnaires asked students to rank their agreement to several statements relating to improvements in empathy, compassion, and communication skills using a 1–5 ranking system, with 1 strongly disagreeing and 5 strongly agreeing. Focus groups were used to explore student opinions with the data transcribed and analysed into themes. 61 undergraduate students have participated thus far. 95% of participants agreed that adopting the role of patient provided them with a greater insight into the patient journey through the emergency department. 91% of participants agreed that they felt more empathy towards patients admitted acutely to hospital. Analysis of qualitative data shows improved empathy, compassion, teamwork, and communication with patients and colleagues within the multidisciplinary team. Students also developed a greater insight into how the unfamiliar hospital environment, lack of visitors, and COVID-19 precautions can negatively impact the patient’s journey. Finally, all students commented on how this simulation will positively influence their future practice. Providing students with the opportunity to adopt the patient’s role has been shown to positively influence their empathy, compassion, teamwork, and communication skills. Future work will focus on whether these changes have been sustained and incorporated into clinical practice. 1. Abstract:Although uncommon, anal metastasis from colonic cancer is well described. Nongastrointestinal cancers metastasizing to the anus are exceptionally rare, with the only reports in the literature comprising two squamous and one anaplastic lung carcinoma, a lobular breast carcinoma and a renal-cell carcinoma [1–4]. PPC is an uncommon epithelial cancer that has marked similarities with serous ovarian cancer. The two conditions are histologically indistinguishable and the diagnosis of PPC is dependent on the presence of peritoneal carcinomatosis with no identifiable primary tumour and involvement of the ovaries that is limited to the peritoneal surfaces only. PPC predominantly affects elderly women and its presentation is often late with abdominal carcinomatosis and marked ascites. Transcoelomic spread and abdominal lymph node involvement is typical but extra-abdominal metastasis to the liver, pleura, skin and brain occasionally occur. A retrospective study of 21 257 haemorrhoidectomy specimens submitted for histological examination reported malignancy in 0.005% [5]. On the basis of the low diagnostic yield, it was concluded that the routine examination of haemorrhoidectomy specimens was not justified. The selective examination of specimens based on clinical suspicion is practised in many centres. Although the haemorrhoid tissue in the case described felt indurated, the appearance was not typical of malignancy and histological examination was performed partly because of the history of malignancy. We would suggest that the case presented, in addition to describing a previously unreported occurrence, serves to underline the importance of submitting abnormal appearing haemorrhoid tissue for histological examination, particularly in patients with a history of malignancy.
A simulation educational intervention to enhance preclinical family nurse practitioner student preparation

Abstract:Simulation has been shown to improve communication and psychometric skills in advanced practice nursing students. Little is known about the impact of a simulation educational intervention with a faculty-facilitated debriefing on the preparation of novice nurse practitioner students for their first clinical practicum. This article describes the development of an educational intervention to accomplish this. The simulation education intervention was implemented with preclinical nurse practitioner students designed to improve their preparation for their first precepted clinical experience. Students were surveyed preintervention and postintervention to explore their self-perception of confidence and preparation for clinicals looking at six domains: health history, physical examination, diagnostics, differentials, final diagnosis, and plan of care. Quantitative results were statistically significant for each domain. Qualitative findings gave deeper insight into the students' perceptions of how the intervention prepared them for clinicals. Advanced practice educators can use educational interventions such as this to prepare students for their first clinical practicums.

Descriptive Analysis of Student Diagnostic and Documentation Skill Development in a low Fidelity Simulation in Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner Education

Abstract:Introduction: Nursing educators face challenges in helping registered nurses prepare to be psychiatric nurse practitioners. Nursing educators must consider the variation of students' skill sets, experience levels, and the shortage of preceptors. Simulations can help overcome limited clinical sites and standardize skill acquisition. High-fidelity simulations can be helpful but are labor-intensive and expensive. Low-fidelity simulations are adaptable to fit the learning needs of psychiatric nurse practitioner students but little research has evaluated these simulations. Objective: This paper evaluates a series of low-fidelity interventions used to help students learn diagnostic criteria, treatment decisions, and documentation. Methods: A retrospective descriptive analysis was performed on the results of all students in five cohorts in a psychiatric nurse practitioner course (n=68) on 45 low-fidelity online simulations over five years during the course on advanced psychiatric nursing of adults. Diagnostic notes were graded on four criteria by a psychologist or a psychiatric nurse practitioner. A representative sample of grades on eight notes were analyzed for this manuscript. Survey responses from the students in one cohort were obtained to evaluate their confidence levels and perceptions of simulation utility and responses were analyzed using descriptive and qualitative methods. Results: The overall mean of description, detail, completeness, and professionalism increased from 7.6 (out of 10) to 9 over the semester with statistically significant improvements in all four areas. The strongest correlation was between detail and completeness and the weakest correlation was between professionalism and description. Students reported that they found significant value in the low-fidelity simulation exercises. Conclusion: This analysis demonstrates one of the first efforts to analyze low-fidelity simulations for psychiatric nurse practitioner students. The data indicate these simulations can help students improve their confidence and skills in several areas.

Abstract:AimsTo examine the effects of a simulation-based nursing process educational program on nursing students' confidence in communication and foundational understanding of the nursing process.BackgroundThe nursing process is a core component of patient-centered nursing care that is underpinned by effective communication. However, learning how to engage patients and carry out the distinct steps of the nursing process can be challenging if students are not able to apply knowledge to practice. Simulation-based learning programs can provide an immersive opportunity for students to enhance their understanding of the nursing process as well as improve their communication skills.DesignA mixed methods randomized controlled trialMethodsTwo Fundamentals of Nursing classes were recruited from an university in northern Taiwan. The experimental group (n=58) engaged with the simulation-based nursing process educational program, which consisted of an online interactive animation and a standardized patient simulation. The control group (n=49) was assigned a case-study. Confidence in Communication surveys, assignment and examination scores, satisfaction questionnaires and post-simulation reflection logs were used for data collection. Data were analyzed using SPSS 22.0 and qualitative content analysis.ResultsBoth groups showed statistically significant improvement in Confidence in Communication (p<.001). The experimental group performed better on the assignment than the control group (p<.001). No significant difference was seen between either groups' examination performances. The animation's high usage rate (mean 5.91 interactions per-user) and the results of the satisfaction questionnaires indicate the program's positive reception from the experimental group. The following themes emerged: effective communication skills, problem solving, confidence, feeling prepared and novel learning experience.ConclusionThe results demonstrate that the simulation-based nursing process educational program increased students' self-confidence in communication and non-verbal communication skills as well as foundational understanding of how to carry out the nursing process. The use of interactive simulation-based learning experiences is recommended to improve nursing students' understanding of how to apply abstract concepts into practice.

Abstract:Objective: Family systems care and palliative care are main topics in nursing education and practice. Self-efficacy of undergraduate nursing students is strengthened by high-fidelity simulation. The aim of this study was to explore the effects of high-fidelity simulation on the self-efficacy of undergraduate nursing students regarding family systems care and early palliative care in an adult setting.Methods: A quasi-experimental study design with repeated measures was conducted. Self-Efficacy was measured using the Family Nursing Practice Scale (FNPS) and the Self-Efficacy-Subscale of the Bonner Palliativwissenstest (BPW) before the start of the theoretical family systems care and palliative care courses (t1), after completion of the courses (t2), immediately after high-fidelity simulation (t3) and 3 months after high-fidelity simulation (t4). A linear mixed model was performed to evaluate the difference of self-efficacy between the times of measurement.Results: A total of 46 undergraduate nursing students participated in the study. There were statistically significant differences regarding the FNPS between t1 and t3 (p = .0019) as well as t1 and t4 (p = .0198), and regarding the BPW between t1 and t3 (p ≤ .0001), t1 and t4 (p = .0012), as well as t2 and t3 (p = .0112). Between the other times of measurement, no statistically significant differences were found.Conclusions: High-fidelity simulation in combination with traditional learning methods can have a short- and long-term effect on undergraduate nursing students’ self-efficacy regarding family systems care and early palliative care in hospitalized adult patients.
Improvements in practising nurses’ knowledge, skills, self-efficacy, confidence, and satisfaction after a simulated clinical experience of caring for a patient undergoing chemotherapy: a quasi-experimental study

Abstract:Abstract Background The beneficial effect of simulation experience on nursing students is well established in the literature. However, an accurate simulation modality to help professional nurses enhance their clinical competence and expertise remains unexplored. The current study evaluated and contrasted the impact of two simulation modalities on nurses’ knowledge, abilities, self-efficacy, confidence, and satisfaction following a simulated clinical experience caring for chemotherapy patients. Methods A quasi-experimental research design was employed in this study. The participants were divided into group A, comprising nurses exposed to the high-fidelity simulation, and group B, comprising nurses exposed to the virtual simulation. Results The study found that nurses exposed to high-fidelity simulation and virtual simulation gained a high standard of knowledge and skills. The nurses’ post-test and post-objective structured clinical examination (OSCE) scores drastically increased after simulation exposure compared to their pre-test and pre-OSCE scores. For the group exposed to high-fidelity simulation, the mean differences were − 19.65 (pre- and post-test) and 23.85 (pre- and post-OSCE), while for the group exposed to virtual simulation, the mean differences were − 22.42 (pre- and post-test) and 20.63 (pre- and post-OSCE). All p -values indicated significant differences < 0.001. Moreover, both groups exhibited high self-efficacy, confidence, and satisfaction levels after the simulation experience. The outcomes of both simulation modalities regarding self-efficacy, confidence, and satisfaction levels indicate no significant difference, as supported by p -values of > 0.05. Conclusion High-fidelity simulation and virtual simulation training effectively and efficiently advance nurses’ professional competence. The nurses exposed to high-fidelity simulation and virtual simulation gained high levels of knowledge and skills. Additionally, it increased their sense of happiness, self-worth, and self-efficacy. The simulation approach will be a potent instrument for improving nurses’ competency and fully developing their sense of expertise. Therefore, developing policies adopting simulation as part of their professional development will ensure patient safety and improve health outcomes.

Abstract:Background: The use of standardized patient simulation in psychiatric nursing education addresses the unique challenges presented by mental healthcare settings. Students’ attitudes toward clinical simulation remain predominantly favorable, with many expressing enthusiasm for the opportunities it provides in terms of embracing challenges, enhancing realism, and promoting critical thinking through problem solving, decision-making, and adaptability. Methods: This quantitative study used a cross-sectional, descriptive, correlation design to investigate the effectiveness of standardized patient simulation as a teaching method in the Psychiatric and Mental Health nursing course in a university setting. A total of 84 nursing students were recruited for the convenience sample. Data were collected using a three-part questionnaire survey which included the following: a demographic data sheet, the Student Satisfaction and Self-confidence in Learning Scale, and a narrative open-ended question asking the participants to write the advantages and disadvantages of their simulation experience. Data were analyzed using the statistical software JMP pro17. Results: The total satisfaction with learning subscale score ranged between 5 and 25 with a mean score of 19.36 ± 6.32. The total self-confidence subscale score ranged between 8 and 40 with a mean score of 30.87 ± 9.1. Pearson’s correlation coefficient r revealed a statistically significant positive relationship between the participants’ satisfaction with the learning experience and their self-confidence (t = 0.923, p < 0.0001). Approximately 91.7% of the students recommended using simulation. The results confirmed the students’ recommendations of simulation use in teaching psychiatric and mental health courses; furthermore, the results showed a statistically significant positive correlation with the total SSLS (p = 0.01) and satisfaction with learning subscale (0.003). Participants reported that authentic, practical, comfortable, and safe learning environments contributed to an enriched learning experience. Additionally, factors such as timesaving, access to information, cost-effectiveness, standardized teaching, varied exposure, skill development, and immediate feedback also enhanced the learning experience through patient simulation in psychiatric and mental health nursing. Conclusion: Simulations can contribute efficiently and positively to psychiatric and mental health nursing education in a manner that optimizes the learning experience while ensuring the consistency of student learning in a safe learning environment.
Effects of Simulation-Based Education before Clinical Experience on Knowledge, Clinical Practice Anxiety, and Clinical Performance Ability in Nursing Students

Abstract:Purpose: This study aimed to examine the effects of simulation-based education on nursing knowledge, anxiety, and clinical performance ability in nursing students before their first clinical practice. Methods: Third-year university students who had not yet entered their first clinical practice were recruited to participate in the study. Nineteen students formed the experimental group and participated in simulation-based education for 7 sessions. The 19 students in the control group were provided with clinical practice orientation in the form of traditional lectures. Outcome measures assessed nursing knowledge, clinical practice anxiety, and clinical performance ability. Data were collected before and immediately after the simulation-based education and after six weeks of clinical practice. Results: Nursing knowledge and clinical anxiety were not statistically significant between the groups. However, there was a significant improvement in the clinical performance abilities of the experimental group. Among the subcategories, the ability to apply the nursing process and the ability to educate and cooperate were shown to maintain significant differences from the control group by the end of the six weeks of clinical practice. Conclusion: The simulation prior to nursing students' first clinical practice could be useful to improve clinical performance ability. Nursing educators should consider building programs to reduce anxiety and improve performance ability through simulations.
