With its ability to process vast amounts of data and perform complex tasks, AI has begun to revolutionize healthcare, offering promising avenues for diagnosis, treatment, and patient care. In this editorial article, we will explore the significant impact of AI in medicine, highlighting its potential benefits and the challenges that lie ahead. AI-Driven Diagnosis One of the most remarkable applications of AI in medicine is its capacity to assist in accurate and efficient diagnosis. By leveraging machine learning algorithms, AI systems can analyze medical imaging, such as X-rays, MRIs, and CT scans, with a level of precision that rivals human experts. Studies have demonstrated the effectiveness of AI in detecting various conditions, including lung cancer, cardiovascular diseases, and neurological disorders, leading to earlier and more accurate diagnoses. For instance, a study published in Nature Medicine by McKinney et al. revealed that an AI model trained on a large dataset of mammograms outperformed radiologists in breast cancer detection. The AI system achieved a lower false-negative rate and reduced the number of false positives, thereby potentially reducing unnecessary biopsies [1]. Similarly, a study by Esteva et al., showed that a deep learning algorithm outperformed dermatologists in diagnosing skin cancer based on images [2]. Such advancements in AI-driven diagnosis hold immense promise for improving patient outcomes and reducing healthcare costs. A notable example is the work of Rajkomar et al., published in The New England Journal of Medicine. By alerting healthcare providers in advance, this AI system helped to prevent adverse events and facilitated proactive interventions [6]. Drug Discovery and Clinical Research The drug discovery and development process is notoriously expensive and time-consuming. AI has the potential to accelerate this process by analyzing vast amounts of biomedical literature, genomic data, and clinical trial outcomes. Machine learning models can identify potential drug targets, predict drug toxicity, and optimize drug formulations. In fact, a study by Aliper et al., demonstrated that an AI system outperformed human researchers in designing new drugs to target age-related diseases [7]. Virtual Assistants and Telemedicine AI-powered virtual assistants and chatbots are transforming the way patients interact with healthcare providers. These virtual assistants can provide instant medical advice, answer queries, and triage patients based on their symptoms. Furthermore, telemedicine platforms integrated with AI algorithms can enhance remote patient monitoring, enabling healthcare professionals to monitor patients' vital signs and provide timely interventions [8,9]. Challenges and Ethical Considerations While the potential benefits of AI in medicine are substantial, it is important to address the challenges and ethical considerations associated with its implementation. Privacy and data security remain critical concerns when handling vast amounts of patient data. Maintaining patient confidentiality and ensuring secure data sharing frameworks must be prioritized to protect patient privacy. Moreover, the need for transparency and interpretability of AI algorithms is vital to build trust between healthcare professionals and AI systems. Understanding how AI arrives at its recommendations or diagnoses is crucial for healthcare providers to make informed decisions and ensure accountability. Conclusion: Artificial intelligence holds tremendous potential to revolutionize healthcare and improve patient outcomes. Abstract:Artificial intelligence (AI) applications have transformed healthcare. This study is based on a general literature review uncovering the role of AI in healthcare and focuses on the following key aspects: (i) medical imaging and diagnostics, (ii) virtual patient care, (iii) medical research and drug discovery, (iv) patient engagement and compliance, (v) rehabilitation, and (vi) other administrative applications. The impact of AI is observed in detecting clinical conditions in medical imaging and diagnostic services, controlling the outbreak of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) with early diagnosis, providing virtual patient care using AI-powered tools, managing electronic health records, augmenting patient engagement and compliance with the treatment plan, reducing the administrative workload of healthcare professionals (HCPs), discovering new drugs and vaccines, spotting medical prescription errors, extensive data storage and analysis, and technology-assisted rehabilitation. Nevertheless, this science pitch meets several technical, ethical, and social challenges, including privacy, safety, the right to decide and try, costs, information and consent, access, and efficacy, while integrating AI into healthcare. The governance of AI applications is crucial for patient safety and accountability and for raising HCPs’ belief in enhancing acceptance and boosting significant health consequences. Effective governance is a prerequisite to precisely address regulatory, ethical, and trust issues while advancing the acceptance and implementation of AI. Since COVID-19 hit the global health system, the concept of AI has created a revolution in healthcare, and such an uprising could be another step forward to meet future healthcare needs.

Abstract:Parenting is increasingly recognized as an upstream, near-universal determinant of social, economic, and health outcomes. Pediatricians know that effective parenting can buffer many adverse childhood events, thereby decreasing toxic stress and improving health. Unlike many other determinants of health, parenting behaviors are modifiable.1 The upstream and modifiable nature of parenting combine to make it an effective, although underused, lever of pediatric outcomes.2 Increasing interest in supporting effective parenting behaviors as a means to improve pediatric health is being reflected in a growing array of professional and policy initiatives. Professionals in nursing, psychology, education, and social work have developed multiple interventions aimed at improving parenting behaviors and affecting child outcomes.3 Not to be outdone, physicians have worked to develop clinically relevant interventions, adapting other models and creating novel approaches.4,5 On the policy front, there is advocacy at the highest levels. For example, the Affordable Care Act of 2010, Section 2951, calls for and funds a home-visiting program, modeled after the Nurse-Family Partnership6; one of the metrics of success for this program is “improved parenting skills.” Supporting positive and effective parenting behaviors is vital, but there is one key caveat; the recommending, planning, and funding of parenting behavior interventions must occur with the guidance of assessment. Parenting behaviors are not currently assessed on either an individual or a population level, making it difficult to direct intervention. Although supporting positive and effective parenting behaviors should be a high priority for individual pediatricians, professional societies, and federal policymakers, instituting broad-based interventions without proper assessment is bad policy. The most important driving factor for the AI transformation will be data. Clive Humby, a data science entrepreneur was once quoted saying “data is the new oil” and data analytics being the “combustion engine” will drive the AI led innovations. The rapid rise of Artificial Intelligence technologies in the past decade, has inspired industries to invest in every opportunity for integrating AI solutions to their products. Research, development, and innovation in the field of AI are shaping various industries like automobile, manufacturing, finance, retail, supply chain management, and education among others. The healthcare industry has also been adopting the ways of AI into various workflows within the domain. With the evolution in computing and processing powers coupled with hardware modernizations, the adoption of AI looks more feasible than ever. Research and Innovations are happening in almost every field of healthcare and hospital workflows with the target of making healthcare processes more efficient & accessible, increase the overall state of healthcare, reduce physician stress levels, and increase the patient satisfaction levels. This review paper discusses in detail about the progress AI has been able to make in the healthcare domain holistically and what the future of AI looks like. The paper also discusses about the implementation opportunities various AI technologies like Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Reinforcement Learning, Natural Language Processing, Computer Vision provide in different fields of healthcare and clinical workflows and how Artificial Intelligence systems will boost the capabilities of healthcare professionals in restoring the human touch in patient-physician encounters. Abstract:The authors studied 7 cases of peptic ulcers (2 gastric and 5 duodenals) in patients whose ages ranged between 3 and 13 4/12 years. They represented 0.5% of hospital inpatients. A history of acetyl salicilic acid ingestion was present in 3 of the cases. In 2 of the cases emotional factors were associated. Initial symptoms were distributed as follows: abdominal (4), hematemesis (2) and melena (1). The clinical course was favorable for 5 of the patients; in one of them signs of bulboduodenitis became evident in the fourth month; in another one the clinical signs persisted and a new ulcer appeared 4 months after the initial diagnosis. High levels of gastrin were found in this case. The importance of gastroduodenal fiberendoscopy in infancy for the diagnosis, histological confirmation and follow-up of peptic ulcer is emphasized.

Abstract:Artificial Intelligence (AI), since its inception, has revolutionized multiple sectors, including healthcare in the 20th century, and has applications in data interpretation, leading to advancements in diagnostics, therapeutics, and clinical decision-making. AI is referred to as the capability of a software program to accurately analyze extrinsic information and utilize it for accomplishing desired goals and objectives through appropriate flexibility. It makes use of complicated operative algorithms to excel in human learning potential with overwhelming abilities to interpret large sets of data. The scope and implications of AI are consistently amplifying and have contributed significantly in nearly all phases of human life, especially healthcare. The integration of AI-related advancements would surely ameliorate the delivery of healthcare by allowing its accessibility, affordability, and level of care provided. For instance, reading CT scans is feasible by both AI as well as a radiologist. The screening of Tuberculosis is possible through AI via Chest X-rays with comparability in performance as molecular testing and mammography scans can predict the onset of breast cancer prior to the appearance of the ocular signs. Therefore, AI has been realized as one of the core areas by researchers and the government for public health benefit. For the same reason, it is imperative to adopt an ethically sound policy framework for guiding the further development of AI-based technologies and their application in public health. AI-based interpretations themselves cannot be fully trusted for their diagnostic decisions and judgements, and hence, it is vital to assess their accountability through all phases of development and deployment in the field of health. This article emphasizes the advancements in AI-based technologies, their assistance in public healthcare delivery systems, and their merits and demerits. It also explores the various ethical directives that need to be adhered to while utilizing it for public health welfare.

Methodology A comprehensive literature search was conducted across multiple databases, covering publications from 2014 to 2024. Keywords related to AI applications in healthcare were used to gather data, focusing on studies exploring AI's role in medical specialties. Results AI has demonstrated substantial benefits across various fields of medicine. In cardiology, it aids in automated image interpretation, risk prediction, and the management of cardiovascular diseases. In oncology, AI enhances cancer detection, treatment planning, and personalized drug selection. Radiology benefits from improved image analysis and diagnostic accuracy, while critical care sees advancements in patient triage and resource optimization. AI's integration into pediatrics, surgery, public health, neurology, pathology, and mental health has similarly shown significant improvements in diagnostic precision, personalized treatment, and overall patient care. The implementation of AI in low‐resource settings has been particularly impactful, enhancing access to advanced diagnostic tools and treatments. Abstract:Background: Artificial intelligence (AI), which combines computer science with extensive datasets, seeks to mimic human-like intelligence. Subsets of AI are being applied in almost all fields of medicine and surgery. Aim: This review focuses on the applications of AI in healthcare settings in developing countries, designed to underscore its significance by comprehensively outlining the advancements made thus far, the shortcomings encountered in AI applications, the present status of AI integration, persistent challenges, and innovative strategies to surmount them. Methodology: Articles from PubMed, Google Scholar, and Cochrane were searched from 2000 to 2023 with keywords including AI and healthcare, focusing on multiple medical specialties. Results: The increasing role of AI in diagnosis, prognosis prediction, and patient management, as well as hospital management and community healthcare, has made the overall healthcare system more efficient, especially in the high patient load setups and resource-limited areas of developing countries where patient care is often compromised. However, challenges, including low adoption rates and the absence of standardized guidelines, high installation and maintenance costs of equipment, poor transportation and connectivvity issues hinder AI's full use in healthcare. Conclusion: Despite these challenges, AI holds a promising future in healthcare. Adequate knowledge and expertise of healthcare professionals for the use of AI technology in healthcare is imperative in developing nations.
