Abstract:Background-Preeclampsia is a prevalent life-threatening hypertensive disorder of pregnancy. The circulating antiangiogenic factor, soluble endoglin (sEng), is elevated in the blood circulation of women with preeclampsia and contributes to disease pathology; however, the underlying mechanisms responsible for its induction in preeclampsia are unknown.Methods and Results-Here, we discovered that a circulating autoantibody, the angiotensin receptor agonistic autoantibody (AT(1)-AA), stimulates sEng production via AT(1) angiotensin receptor activation in pregnant mice but not in nonpregnant mice. We subsequently demonstrated that the placenta is a major source contributing to sEng induction in vivo and that AT(1)-AA-injected pregnant mice display impaired placental angiogenesis. Using drug screening, we identified tumor necrosis factor-alpha as a circulating factor increased in the serum of autoantibody-injected pregnant mice contributing to AT(1)-AA-mediated sEng induction in human umbilical vascular endothelial cells. Subsequently, among all the drugs screened, we found that hemin, an inducer of heme oxygenase, functions as a break to control AT1-AA-mediated sEng induction by suppressing tumor necrosis factor-alpha signaling in human umbilical vascular endothelial cells. Finally, we demonstrated that the AT1-AA-mediated decreased angiogenesis seen in human placenta villous explants was attenuated by tumor necrosis factor-alpha-neutralizing antibodies, soluble tumor necrosis factor-alpha receptors, and hemin by abolishing both sEng and soluble fms-like tyrosine kinase-1 induction.Conclusions-Our findings demonstrate that AT1-AA-mediated tumor necrosis factor-alpha induction, by overcoming its negative regulator, heme oxygenase-1, is a key underlying mechanism responsible for impaired placental angiogenesis by inducing both sEng and soluble fms-like tyrosine kinase-1 secretion from human villous explants. Our results provide important new targets for diagnosis and therapeutic intervention in the management of preeclampsia. (Circulation. 2010;121:436-444.)
Late Preterm Infant With Postnatal Diagnosis of Renal Tubular Dysgenesis

Abstract:A male infant born at 34 weeks' gestation presented with acute cardiorespiratory decompensation soon after birth followed by renal failure. Initial clinical course was complicated by ventilator requirement, bilateral pneumothoraces, and hypotension managed with multiple inotropes. Persistent renal failure with oliguria and renal ultrasound showing noncystic medical renal disease prompted further investigation. Whole-exome sequencing showed 2 pathologic mutations in the angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) gene, suggesting a diagnosis of renal tubular dysgenesis (RTD). Renal tubular dysgenesis is usually a fatal condition affecting the renin-angiotensin system with possible autosomal recessive inheritance. Acquired cases have been described in the setting of in utero exposure to medications such as nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medications (NSAIDs) and ACE inhibitors. Renal tubular dysgenesis should be suspected in any neonate presenting with renal failure, refractory hypotension, ventilator requirement, hypoplastic lungs, renal ultrasound showing normal-sized echogenic noncystic kidneys with poor corticomedullary differentiation, and antenatal history significant for oligohydramnios. The overall prognosis of patients with RTD continues to improve with better ventilatory management and renal replacement therapies.
Primary Aldosteronism and Pregnancy: A Case Report

Abstract:A 34-year-old Chinese woman was referred to our hospital at 24 weeks of gestation for persistent hypokalaemia and new onset of hypertension. Prior to pregnancy, she had a three-year history of recurrent episodes of muscle weakness and found to have low potassium levels (the lowest level was 1.8 mmol/L, normal 3.5–5.3 mmol/L). During the clinical visits, her blood pressure was normal, consistently 110–120/70–80 mmHg, until the twenty-third week of pregnancy, when it was found to be 160/100 mmHg. During her hospitalisation, blood pressure remained elevated despite treatment, with a peak level of 210/130 mmHg. Diagnostic evaluation included potassium levels, which remained low at 2.94–3.65 mmol/L despite supplementation; urinary protein was 1.98 g/24 h; urinary potassium excretion was 48 mmol/24 h, suggesting renal loss of potassium. The plasma renin activity (PRA) was 0.76 ng/mL/h (normal 0.2–1.9 ng/mL/h in non-pregnancy); plasma aldosterone concentration (PAC) was 830 pg/mL (normal 21–136 pg/mL in non-pregnancy), with a PAC-to-PRA ratio of 109. Urine catecholamines, plasma corticotrophin, cortisol and calcium concentrations were almost normal. Ultrasound scan identified a parenchymatous mass in the left adrenal gland. Primary aldosteronism was suspected, but surgery during pregnancy was not considered due to lack of expertise in this setting, though laparoscopic adrenalectomy during pregnancy might be a possible choice for treatment. Conservative treatment was adopted to prolong the pregnancy as much as possible, including nitroglycerin, nifedipine, labetabol, furosemide, magnesium sulfate, potassium supplement and other supportive therapies. Spironolactone was not adopted considering its uncertain effect to the fetus, although there was a report of it being used safely at high dose in a mother with Batter’s syndrome for two pregnancies without evidence of harm to male infants. Emergency caesarean section was performed at the twenty-fifth week of gestation because of HELLP syndrome (type III), uncontrolled hypertension and mild placental abruption. Her blood pressure decreased after delivery but not to normal. Abdominal computed tomography six months later confirmed a tumour in the left adrenal gland (Fig. 1). Laparoscopic adrenalectomy was then performed and pathological analysis confirmed a cortical adenoma of the left adrenal gland. After surgery, her serum potassium level and blood pressure gradually returned to normal. PRA, PAC and PAC-to-PRA ratio all returned to normal after three months. On follow up, serum potassium levels and blood pressure have remained normal without medication. This patient was not hypertensive in early pregnancy, most probably due to the physiological vasodilation that occurs in pregnancy. Hypertension due to Conn’s may not become apparent until midto late pregnancy (as occurred for this patient) or until post-partum. Persistent Hypertension for Two Months in a Preterm Infant

Abstract:A boy aged 2 months (born at 36 weeks of gestation) was admitted due to cough and dyspnea. After admission, he was found to have persistent hypertension, proteinuria, and persistent convulsion, and imaging examination showed extensive calcification of the aorta and major branches and stenosis of local lumens of the abdominal aorta and the right renal artery with increased blood flow velocity. The boy was admitted during the neonatal period due to wet lung and pulmonary arterial hypertension and was found to have hypertension and proteinuria. High-throughput whole-exome sequencing was performed and found two compound heterozygous mutations in the ENPP1 gene from his parents, c.130C>T (p.Q44X) and c.1112A>T (p.Y371F). c.130C>T was a nonsense mutation, which could cause partial deletion of protein from 44 amino acids, and was defined as a primary pathogenic mutation. c.1112A>T was a missense mutation which had been reported as a pathogenic mutation associated with idiopathic infantile arterial calcification (IIAC). Therefore, he was diagnosed with IIAC. He was given phosphonate drugs, antihypertensive drugs, anticonvulsion treatment, and respiratory support. Blood pressure was maintained at the upper limit of normal value. There was no deterioration of arterial calcification. It is concluded that IIAC should be considered for infants with persistent hypertension and extensive vascular calcification, and imaging and genetic examinations should be performed as early as possible to make a confirmed diagnosis.

Abstract:Background: Autosomal recessive renal tubular dysgenesis is a rare, usually fatal inherited disorder of the renin-angiotensis system (RAS). Herein, we report an adolescent individual experiencing an unknown chronic kidney disease and aim to provide novel insights into disease mechanisms. Methods: Exome sequencing for a gene panel associated with renal disease was performed. The RAS was assessed by comprehensive biochemical analysis in blood. Renin expression was determined in primary tubular cells by quantitative polymerase chain reaction and in situ hybridization on kidney biopsy samples. Allele frequencies of heterozygous and biallelic deleterious variants were determined by analysis of the Genomics England 100,000 Genomes Project. Results: The patient was delivered prematurely after oligohydramnios was detected during pregnancy. Postnatally, he recovered from third-degree acute kidney injury but developed chronic kidney disease stage G3b over time. Exome sequencing revealed a previously reported pathogenic homozygous missense variant, p.(Arg375Gln), in the AGT (angiotensinogen) gene. Blood AGT concentrations were low, but plasma renin concentration and gene expression in kidney biopsy, vascular, and tubular cells revealed strong upregulation of renin. Angiotensin II and aldosterone in blood were not abnormally elevated. Conclusions: Renal tubular dysgenesis may present as chronic kidney disease with a variable phenotype, necessitating broad genetic analysis for diagnosis. Functional analysis of the RAS in a patient with AGT mutation revealed novel insights regarding compensatory upregulation of renin in vascular and tubular cells of the kidney and in plasma in response to depletion of AGT substrate as a source of Ang II (similarly observed with hepatic AGT silencing for the treatment of hypertension).
An overview of the influence of ACE inhibitors on fetal-placental circulation and perinatal development

Abstract:The renin-angiotensin system is associated with a variety of pathophysiological processes in many organ systems, and is known to be involved in the normal regulation of blood pressure and in the pathogenesis of renovascular hypertension. Angiotensin II is a multifunctional hormone that manifests its properties by interacting with two major subtypes of cell surface receptors (AT1 and AT2). Angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors are able to modify the actions of the renin-angiotensin system, and are indicated for the treatment of hypertension and heart disease. The antihypertensive effects of ACE inhibiting drugs are related to their ability to block the conversion of the decapeptide, angiotensin I, to the potent pressor octapeptide, angiotensin II. ACE inhibitors have been implicated in fetopathies in humans and perinatal mortality in rats, rabbits, sheep and baboons. Human fetopathies were seen when ACE inhibitors were given around the 26th week of gestation. The major adverse effects in babies include: oligohydramnios, renal tubular dysgenesis, neonatal anuria, calvarial and pulmonary hypoplasia, mild to severe intrauterine growth retardation, persistent patent ductus arteriosus and fetal or neonatal death. These developmental anomalies are thought to be partly due to a direct action of ACE inhibitors on the fetal renin-angiotensin system and partly due to the ischemia resulting from maternal hypotension and decreases in fetal-placental blood flow and oxygen/nutrient delivery to the fetus. The purpose of this review is to briefly discuss the pathophysiological role of the renin-angiotensin system, the therapeutic uses of ACE inhibitors in pregnant patients and to focus primarily on the major fetotoxic effects of ACE inhibitors encountered in humans and animal models. I will also review our recent data which show that capozide (captopril + hydrochlorothiazide) not only produces oligohydramnios but also disturbs the balance of glucose and NaCl in the maternal plasma and amniotic fluid of the rat.

Abstract:Early-onset polyhydramnios during pregnancy can be caused by X-linked transient antenatal Bartter syndrome. Most of the reported cases were molecularly diagnosed after birth, whereas few cases were diagnosed in the fetus period. We received a pregnant woman who had polyhydramnios detected by ultrasound imaging at 25 weeks of gestation, and treated with magnesium sulfate, indomethacin and an amnioreduction at 30 weeks of gestation, whereas amniotic fluid decreased spontaneously since 32 weeks of gestation. Prenatal molecular testing showed the fetus carried MAGED2 hemizygous variant c.967C>T [p. (Asp323*)] inherited from the mother. The preterm boy did not present with polyuria and electrolytes and acid-base imbalance in the early neonatal period, and had good development without polyuria at the age of 20 months. We presented the phenotypes of a Chinese case with a prenatal diagnosis of X-linked transient antenatal Bartter syndrome and his response to prenatal indomethacin treatment. Early identification of the condition helps to provide appropriate prenatal genetic counseling and postnatal management.

Abstract:Background/Aims: The maternal and fetal Renin-Angiotensin-System is involved in the control of pregnancy outcomes such as blood pressure control and gestational age. However, very little is known about the impact of the angiotensin converting enzyme 2 (ACE2) on pregnancy outcome. We thus performed a prospective clinical observational study analyzing the association of maternal and fetal ACE2 gene rs2074192 polymorphism with fetal growth during pregnancy. Methods: 898 singleton pregnant women were prospectively recruited. 739 pregnant women finally participated in the study and were genotyped. 474 women also donated umbilical cord blood for gene analysis of their offspring. All data such as basic demographic information, data from birth records, biochemical and immunological parameters, as well as Doppler ultrasonographic findings during pregnancy were collected. Fetal and maternal ACE2 gene rs2074192 polymorphism was genotyped by DNA sequencing. Results: Our analysis showed that the maternal ACE2 gene rs2074192 polymorphism was not associated with gestational hypertension, gestational diabetes mellitus, anemia, postpartum hemorrhage and fetal growth. However, neonates having rs2074192 T allele were more likely to be born as small for gestational age (SGA) babies. After multivariable logistic regression considering known confounding, we could demonstrate that the neonatal rs2074192 T allele was an independent risk factor for SGA (OR: 22.93, 95%Cl: 1.26418.77, P<0.05). Conclusion: This is the first study showing that the babies but not their mothers with ACE2 gene rs2074192 T allele had a high risk for SGA, which contributes to metabolic syndrome and cardiovascular diseases in later life. Integrated Management and Prognosis Analysis of Fetus with Complete Transposition of the Great Arteries During Pregnancy and Perinatal Period

Abstract:Objective: To investigate the prenatal diagnosis, integrated management and prognosis of fetal complete transposition of the great arteries (D-TGA) detected by ultrasonography. Methods: The prenatal diagnosis, integrated management and prognosis of 19 D-TGA fetuses found by ultrasound during pregnancy in Peking University People's Hospital from January 2014 to June 2019 were analyzed retrospectively. Results: The incidence of D-TGA was 0.12% (19/16 028) among fetuses diagnosed by ultrasound during 5 years. Among the 19 cases, there were 7 cases (7/19) of D-TGA alone, 7 cases (7/19) of D-TGA combined with ventricular septal defect (VSD), 5 cases (5/19) of D-TGA combined with other cardiac malformations; 2 cases (2/19) of D-TGA combined with extra cardiac malformations, and 1 case (1/19) of fetal growth restriction. Nuchal translucency (NT) thickening was found in 3 cases (3/19) at the first trimester of pregnancy. Among the 19 D-TGA fetuses found by ultrasound examination, 18 (18/19) had chromosome karyotype analysis of fetuses or newborns, and chromosomal abnormalities were found in 2 cases, all of which were terminated in the second trimester of pregnancy. The integrated management and multidisciplinary diagnosis and treatment of D-TGA fetuses during pregnancy and perinatal period were carried out. Nine cases (9/19) had induction in the second trimester of pregnancy, 10 cases (10/19) were delivered at term, and the gestational week of delivery was (38.3±0.7) weeks, among which 6 cases (6/10) were delivered by caesarean section due to obstetric factors, and 4 cases (4/10) were delivered by vaginal birth. The oxygen saturation was (69.2±11.3)% at birth and (77.8±6.7)% when transferred to the department of pediatrics. Except for one case lost to follow-up, the other 9 newborns received operation. The average operation time was (21.8±22.1) days after birth, 8 cases (8/9) completed one operation and 1 case (1/9) performed two operations. All of the 9 cases treated by surgery were followed up well. Conclusions: Prenatal diagnosis, individualized evaluation and integrated management during pregnancy and perinatal period should be carried out for the patients with fetal D-TGA detected by ultrasound. Fetal D-TGA is not an indication of cesarean section. The open of ductus arteriosus can be maintained with drugs when necessary after birth, and a good prognosis could be obtained through surgery.

Abstract:Historically picture books have been a social medium, an item understood by a combination of child and adult readers. Book apps are a new format for picture books. These items do not commonly require an adult co-reader; the audio narration 'reads' the text to the child. How Far is UP? is a children's book app designed to foster social engagement. Through interacting with the work users uncover text that contains different information to the audio narration. Pre-literate audience will not be able to comprehend the textual aspect of the narrative. Children will require an adult to read the text aloud and to discuss the content so that together they can formulate deeper narrative meaning. This study draws on children's literary theory with the view to uncovering ways in which interactive digital storybooks can entertain, educate and foster meaningful social, intergenerational bonding.

Abstract:Duo exome testing was performed on a fetus conceived via in vitro fertilization with an egg donor. The fetus presented with non‐immune hydrops fetalis (NIHF) at 20 + 0 weeks gestation. Two variants were detected in the GUSB gene. Biallelic pathogenic variants cause mucopolysaccharidosis type VII (MPS‐VII), which can present with NIHF prenatally. At the time of analysis and initial report, one variant was classified as likely pathogenic and the other as of uncertain clinical significance. Biochemical testing of the amniotic fluid supernatant showed elevated glycosaminoglycans and low β‐glucuronidase activity consistent with the diagnosis of MPS‐VII. This evidence allowed the upgrade of the pathogenicity for both variants, confirming the diagnosis of MPS‐VII. The infant was born at 36 + 5 weeks and enzyme replacement therapy (ERT) using vestronidase was initiated at 20 days with planning for hematopoietic stem cell transplant ongoing. The ERT therapy has been well tolerated, with decreasing quantitative urine glycosaminoglycans. Long‐term follow up is required to determine whether treatment has been successful. This case demonstrates the utility of alternative testing methods to clarify the pathogenicity of variants and the clinical utility of obtaining a diagnosis antenatally in facilitating treatment in the neonatal period, and specifically highlights MPS‐VII as a treatable cause of NIHF.

Abstract:Background Pulmonary hypertension remains difficult to manage in congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH). Prenatal therapy may ameliorate postnatal pulmonary hypertension. We hypothesized that intra-amniotic (IA) injection of either sildenafil, a phosphodiesterase 5 inhibitor, or rosiglitazone, a PPAR-γ agonist, or both late in gestation would decrease the detrimental pulmonary vascular remodeling seen in CDH and improve peripheral pulmonary blood flow. Methods Pregnant rats were gavaged with nitrofen on embryonic day (E) 9.5 to induce fetal CDH. Sildenafil and/or rosiglitazone were administered to each fetus via an intra-amniotic injection after laparotomy on the pregnant dam at E19.5, and fetuses delivered at E21.5. Efficacy measures were gross necropsy, histology, peripheral blood flow assessment using intra-cardiac injection of a vascular tracer after delivery, and protein expression analysis. Results Intra-amniotic injections did not affect fetal survival, the incidence of CDH, or lung weight-to-body weight ratio in CDH fetuses. IA sildenafil injection decreased pulmonary vascular muscularization, and rosiglitazone produced an increase in peripheral pulmonary blood flow distribution. The combination of sildenafil and rosiglitazone decreased pulmonary artery smooth muscle cell proliferation. These intra-amniotic treatments did not show any negative effects in either CDH fetuses or control fetuses. Conclusion IA injection of sildenafil and rosiglitazone late in gestation ameliorates the pulmonary hypertensive phenotype of CDH and may have utility in clinical translation. Abstract:Objecive To explore the methods of prenatal genetic diagnosis in chronic renal failure caused by WT1 mutation. Methods Prenatal genetic diagnosis was performed on the proband’s mother after genetic consultancy. Mutation analysis of the fetus was performed on DNA-based level of amniocytes. Fetus sex was determined by PCR amplification of SRY as well as karyotypes analysis. Maternal cell contamination was excluded by linkage analysis with three polymorphic microsatellite markers on X chromosome. Results There was a WT1 IVS9+5G > A (heterozygotic) and a NPHS2 860A > G (heterozygotic) in the proband, respectively. The mother didn’t carry the WT1 IVS9+5G > A but carried the NPHS2 860A > G mutation. The father carried neither of the mutation. Amniocytes genomic DNA level based prenatal diagnosis showed that the fetus did not carry the same mutation as the mother or the proband. PCR amplification of SRY and karyotpyes analysis showed a female fetus. Linkage analysis of X chromosome polymorphic microsatellite markers showed that there was no maternal cell contamination in amniocytes. Conclusion We have established the technique of prenatal genetics diagnosis in chronic renal failure caused by WT1 mutation in China.

Abstract:Objective: We aimed to identify the genetic cause of one hydrops fetalis with Noonan syndrome (NS) manifestations including increased nuchal translucency (INT) and ascites through prenatal whole exome sequencing (WES). Case report: The case is a gestational age (GA) 18 fetus of two healthy parents with a normal child. We proceeded the genomic DNA from both fetus amniotic cells and parents to WES and identified a RIT1 mutation (c.268A>G) as the pathogenic cause of the hydrops fetalis by automatic prioritization algorithm after array-comparative genomic hybridization results showing negative. Conclusion: Mutations in RIT1 have been reported as the causes for different fetus structural abnormities in the recent years. This case contributes to the summary delineations of the prenatal NS phenotypes related to RIT1 mutation. In addition, the fast WES application, in this case, has demonstrated its advantage in prenatal disorder diagnosis when conventional karyotyping or chromosomal microarray testing result is negative.

Abstract:Importance: Early anhydramnios during pregnancy, resulting from fetal bilateral renal agenesis, causes lethal pulmonary hypoplasia in neonates. Restoring amniotic fluid via serial amnioinfusions may promote lung development, enabling survival. Objective: To assess neonatal outcomes of serial amnioinfusions initiated before 26 weeks' gestation to mitigate lethal pulmonary hypoplasia. Design, setting, and participants: Prospective, nonrandomized clinical trial conducted at 9 US fetal therapy centers between December 2018 and July 2022. Outcomes are reported for 21 maternal-fetal pairs with confirmed anhydramnios due to isolated fetal bilateral renal agenesis without other identified congenital anomalies. Exposure: Enrolled participants initiated ultrasound-guided percutaneous amnioinfusions of isotonic fluid before 26 weeks' gestation, with frequency of infusions individualized to maintain normal amniotic fluid levels for gestational age. Main outcomes and measures: The primary end point was postnatal infant survival to 14 days of life or longer with dialysis access placement. Results: The trial was stopped early based on an interim analysis of 18 maternal-fetal pairs given concern about neonatal morbidity and mortality beyond the primary end point despite demonstration of the efficacy of the intervention. There were 17 live births (94%), with a median gestational age at delivery of 32 weeks, 4 days (IQR, 32-34 weeks). All participants delivered prior to 37 weeks' gestation. The primary outcome was achieved in 14 (82%) of 17 live-born infants (95% CI, 44%-99%). Factors associated with survival to the primary outcome included a higher number of amnioinfusions (P = .01), gestational age greater than 32 weeks (P = .005), and higher birth weight (P = .03). Only 6 (35%) of the 17 neonates born alive survived to hospital discharge while receiving peritoneal dialysis at a median age of 24 weeks of life (range, 12-32 weeks). Conclusions and relevance: Serial amnioinfusions mitigated lethal pulmonary hypoplasia but were associated with preterm delivery. The lower rate of survival to discharge highlights the additional mortality burden independent of lung function. Additional long-term data are needed to fully characterize the outcomes in surviving neonates and assess the morbidity and mortality burden. Abstract:Advances in ultrasound and prenatal diagnosis are leading an expansion in the options for parents whose fetus is identified with a congenital disease. Obstetric diseases such as pre-eclampsia and fetal growth restriction may also be amenable to intervention to improve maternal and neonatal outcomes. Advanced Medicinal Therapeutic Products such as stem cell, gene, enzyme and protein therapies are most commonly being investigated as the trajectory of treatment for severe genetic diseases moves toward earlier intervention. Theoretical benefits include prevention of in utero damage, smaller treatment doses compared to postnatal intervention, use of fetal circulatory shunts and induction of immune tolerance. New systematic terminology can capture adverse maternal and fetal adverse events to improve safe trial conduct. First-in-human clinical trials are now beginning to generate results with a focus on safety first and efficacy second. If successful, these trials will transform the care of fetuses with severe early-onset congenital disease.

Abstract:We report on a case of fetal toxicity due to maternal treatment with olmesartan medoxomil. At 29 weeks' gestation, oligohydramnios was found, although the fetus had normal kidneys on ultrasound evaluation. Withdrawal of olmesartan medoxomil, maternal rehydration, and a single dose of furosemide reversed the renal impairment. After term delivery, the neonate was confirmed to have normal renal function. The case suggested that fetal renal impairment due to olmesartan medoxomil may be reversible.

Abstract:Vitamin A, a fat-soluble vitamin, is essential for health and plays an important part in vision, bone growth, reproduction, regulating the immune system, cell function, and skin health. Due to the advances in technology and the expansion of its uses, LC technologies are being studied for effectiveness in detecting and quantifying vitamin A in an effort to help determine the amount of vitamin A in various types of samples. For this reason, an Expert Review Panel agreed on June 29, 2011, at the "Standards Development and International Harmonization: AOAC INTERNATIONAL Mid-Year Meeting," to approve "Determination of Vitamin A in Infant Formula and Adult Nutritionals by UPLC-UV" as AOAC Official Method 2011.07. To move from First to Final Action status, it was recommended that additional information be generated for all types of infant formulas and adult nutritional formula matrixes at varied concentration levels, as indicated in the standard method performance requirements. International units or retinol equivalents typically represent the concentration of vitamin A in food and supplements. However, for the purpose of this method, the concentration represented is presented in microg/100 g.
