Abstract:Objective To analyze the research hotspot of critical care nursing abroad in recent 5 years,in order to provide reference for critical care nursing research in China. Methods PubMed database was searched for articles related to critical care nursing from 2017 to 2022. Bicomb software was used for word frequency analysis,and gCLUTO software was used for cluster analysis. Results A total of 1 263 articles related to critical care nursing were included,the number of publications reached the highest level from 2018 to 2020,and showed a downward trend in the past two years. Forty-four high-frequency keywords were extracted,and the cumulative percentage of occurrence frequency was 55.50%. Four research hotspots of critical care were summarized by cluster analysis,which were humanistic care of critical care nursing,working environment of critical care,clinical nursing practice of critical care and nursing of special critical diseases. Conclusion In recent years,the research objects and contents extended and deepened. The research objects included ICU nurses,patients and their families. The research contents involved humanistic care,clinical practice and working environment,focused on clinical difficulties such as surrogate decision-making,auxiliary communication and hospice care of ICU patients. In the future,we still need to summarize the hotspots of critical care nursing research in order to provide ideas for further exploring the depth and breadth of critical care nursing research.
Artificial Intelligence in Intensive Care Medicine: Bibliometric Analysis

Abstract:Background: Interest in critical care–related artificial intelligence (AI) research is growing rapidly. However, the literature is still lacking in comprehensive bibliometric studies that measure and analyze scientific publications globally. Objective: The objective of this study was to assess the global research trends in AI in intensive care medicine based on publication outputs, citations, coauthorships between nations, and co-occurrences of author keywords. Methods: A total of 3619 documents published until March 2022 were retrieved from the Scopus database. After selecting the document type as articles, the titles and abstracts were checked for eligibility. In the final bibliometric study using VOSviewer, 1198 papers were included. The growth rate of publications, preferred journals, leading research countries, international collaborations, and top institutions were computed. Results: The number of publications increased steeply between 2018 and 2022, accounting for 72.53% (869/1198) of all the included papers. The United States and China contributed to approximately 55.17% (661/1198) of the total publications. Of the 15 most productive institutions, 9 were among the top 100 universities worldwide. Detecting clinical deterioration, monitoring, predicting disease progression, mortality, prognosis, and classifying disease phenotypes or subtypes were some of the research hot spots for AI in patients who are critically ill. Neural networks, decision support systems, machine learning, and deep learning were all commonly used AI technologies. Conclusions: This study highlights popular areas in AI research aimed at improving health care in intensive care units, offers a comprehensive look at the research trend in AI application in the intensive care unit, and provides an insight into potential collaboration and prospects for future research. The 30 articles that received the most citations were listed in detail. For AI-based clinical research to be sufficiently convincing for routine critical care practice, collaborative research efforts are needed to increase the maturity and robustness of AI-driven models.

Abstract:The swift advancement of technology has led to the widespread utilization of artificial intelligence (AI) in the diagnosis of diseases and prediction of prognoses, particularly in the field of intensive care unit (ICU) and Anesthesia. Numerous evidential data have demonstrated the extensive potential of AI in monitoring and predicting patient outcomes in these fields. Using bibliometric analysis, this study provides an overview of the current state of knowledge regarding the application of AI in ICU and Anesthesia and investigates prospective avenues for future research. Web of Science Core Collection was queried on May 6, 2023, to select articles and reviews regarding AI in ICU and Anesthesia. Subsequently, various analytical tools including Microsoft Excel 2022, VOSviewer (version 1.6.16), Citespace (version 6.2.R2), and an online bibliometric platform were employed to examine the publication year, citations, authors, countries, institutions, journals, and keywords associated with this subject area. This study selected 2196 articles from the literature. focusing on AI-related research within the fields of ICU and Anesthesia, which has increased exponentially over the past decade. Among them, the USA ranked first with 634 publications and had close international cooperation. Harvard Medical School was the most productive institution. In terms of publications, Scientific Reports (impact factor (IF) 4.996) had the most, while Critical Care Medicine (IF 9.296) had the most citations. According to numerous references, researchers may focus on the following research hotspots: "Early Warning Scores", "Covid-19′′, "Sepsis" and "Neural Networks". "Procalcitonin" and "Convolutional Neural Networks" were the hottest burst keywords. The potential applications of AI in the fields of ICU and Anesthesia have garnered significant attention from scholars, prompting an increase in research endeavors. In addition, it is imperative for various countries and institutions to enhance their collaborative efforts in this area. The research focus in the upcoming years will center on sepsis and coronavirus, as well as the development of predictive models utilizing neural network algorithms to improve well-being and quality of life in surviving patients.
A bibliometric analysis of the application of artificial intelligence to advance individualized diagnosis and treatment of critical illness

Abstract:Background: Artificial intelligence (AI) has been extensively applied in the individualized diagnosis and treatment of critical illness, and numerous studies have been published on this topic. Therefore, a bibliometric analysis of these publications should be performed to provide a direction of hot topics and future research trends.Methods: A bibliometric analysis was performed on the research articles to identify the hot topics and any unsolved issues regarding the use of AI in individualized diagnosis and treatment of critical illness. Articles published from January 2011 to December 2021 were retrieved from the Web of Science (WOS) core collection database for bibliometric analysis, and a cross-sectional analysis of the relevant studies that had been registered at ClinicalTrials.gov was also conducted.Results: The number of articles published showed an annually increasing trend, with a worldwide geographic distribution over the past decade. Ultimately, 427 research articles were included in the bibliometric analysis. The relevant articles were divided into four separate clusters that focused on AI application aspects, prediction model establishment, coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) treatment and outcome assessments, respectively. "Machine learning" was the most frequent keyword (147 occurrences, 165 links, and 395 total link strengths) followed by "risk", "models", and "mortality". With 205 articles, the United States of America (USA) had interacted the most with other countries (20 links, and 94 total link strength), while the domestic research institutes in China had infrequently collaborated with others. Approximately 130 trials focusing on the application of AI in the intensive care unit (ICU) and emergency department (ED) had been registered at ClinicalTrial.gov, and most of them (n=71, 54.6%) were interventional. The main research objectives of these trials were to provide decision making assistance and establish prediction models. However, only 3.8% (5 trials) of them had reached exact conclusions which favored the application of AI.Conclusions: The application of AI has raised great interest in critical illness and has mainly been focused on decision making assistance and prediction model establishment. Cooperation between agencies engaged in AI research needs to be strengthened. An increasing number of trials have been registered at ClinicalTrial.gov, and the results of them are promising.Keywords: Bibliometric analysis; artificial intelligence (AI); individualized diagnosis; critical care medicine; emergency department (ED).

Global trends in coronary artery disease and artificial intelligence relevant studies: a bibliometric analysis

Abstract:Objective: Coronary artery disease (CAD) is a major global cause of death, greatly affecting life expectancy and quality of life for populations. With the advent of artificial intelligence (AI), there is new hope for accurately managing CAD. While recent studies have shown remarkable progress in AI and CAD research, there is a gap in comprehensive bibliometric analysis in this field. Therefore, this study aims to provide a thorough analysis of trends and hotspots in AI and CAD-related research utilizing bibliometrics. Materials and methods: Publications on AI and CAD relevant research from 2009 to 2023 were searched through the WoS core database (WoSCC). CiteSpace, VOSviewer and Excel 365 were used to conduct the bibliometric analysis. Results: The bibliometric analysis included 1,248 publications, indicating a steady increase in AI and CAD-related publications annually. The United States of America (USA), China, and Germany were identified as the most influential countries in this field. Research institutions such as Cedars Sinai Med Ctr, Med Univ South Carolina, Harvard Med Sch and Capital Med Univ were the main contributors to research production. FRONT CARDIOVASC MED is the top-ranked journal, while J AM COLL CARDIOL emerged as the most cited journal. Schoepf, U. Joseph, Slomka, Piotr J., Berman, Daniel S. and Dey, Damini were the most prolific authors, while U. Rajendra Acharya was the most frequently co-cited author. Research related to the AI calculation of coronary flow reserve fraction and coronary artery calcification, based on coronary CT to identify CAD and cardiovascular risk, was a key research topic in this field. The potential link between cardiovascular risk stratification and radiomics is currently at the forefront of the field. Conclusions: This study is the first to use a bibliometric approach to visualize and analyze AI and CAD-related research. The findings provide insights into recent research trends and hotspots in the field and can serve as a reference for scholars to identify critical issues in this field.
The research hotspots and theme trends of artificial intelligence in nurse education: A bibliometric analysis from 1994 to 2023

Abstract:Objectives: To explore research hotspots and theme trends in artificial intelligence in nurse education using bibliometric analysis. Design: Bibliometric analysis. Data sources: Literature from the Web of Science Core Collection from the time of construction to October 31, 2023 was searched. Review methods: Analyses of countries, authors, institutions, journals, and keywords were conducted using Bibliometrix (based on R language), CiteSpace, the online analysis platform (bibliometric), Vosviewer, and Pajek. Results: A total of 135 articles with a straight upward trend over the last three years were retrieved. By fitting the curve R2 = 0.6022 (R2 > 0.4), we predicted that the number of annual articles is projected to grow in the coming years. The United States (n = 38), the National University of Singapore (n = 16), Professor Jun Ota (n = 8), and Nurse Education Today (n = 14) are the countries, institutions, authors, and journals that contributed to the most publications, respectively. Collaborative network analysis revealed that 32 institutional and 64 author collaborative teams were established. We identified ten high-frequency keywords and nine clusters. We categorized the research hotspots of artificial intelligence in nurse education into three areas: (1) Artificial intelligence-enhanced simulation robots, (2) machine learning and data mining, and (3) large language models based on natural language processing and deep learning. By analyzing the temporal and spatial evolution of keywords and burst detection, we found that future research trends may include (1) expanding and deepening the application of AI technology, (2) assessment of behavioral intent and educational outcomes, and (3) moral and ethical considerations. Conclusions: Future research should be conducted on technology applications, behavioral intent, ethical policy, international cooperation, interdisciplinary cooperation, and sustainability to promote the continued development and innovation of AI in nurse education.

Abstract:We used mitochondrial DNA sequences from three gene regions and two tRNAs (ND4, tRNA‐HIS‐SER, 12S, and 16S rDNA) to investigate the historical ecology of the New World pitviper clade Agkistrodon, with emphasis on the disjunct subspecies of the cantil, A. bilineatus. We found strong evidence that the copperhead (A. contortrix) is basal to its congeners, and that the cottonmouth (A. piscivorus) is basal to cantils. Phylogeography and natural history of the living terminal taxa imply that Agkistrodon primitively occupied relatively temperate habitats, with subsequent evolution of tropicality in ancestral A. bilineatus. Our best supported phylogeny rejects three gulf arc scenarios for the biogeography of A. bilineatus. We find significant statistical support for an initial divergence between populations on the east and west coasts of México and subsequent occupancy of the Yucatán Peninsula, by way of subhumid corridors in northern Central America. Based on phylogenetic relationships, morphological and molecular divergence, and allopatry we elevate A. b. taylori of northeastern México to species status. Taylor’s cantil is likely threatened by habitat destruction and small geographical range, and we offer recommendations for its conservation and management.

Abstract:Background With the increasing interest of academics in the application of artificial intelligence to sepsis, thousands of papers on this field had been published in the past few decades. It is difficult for researchers to understand the themes and latest research frontiers in this field from a multi-dimensional perspective. Consequently, the purpose of this study is to analyze the relevant literature in the application of artificial intelligence to sepsis through bibliometrics software, so as to better understand the development status, study the core hotspots and future development trends of this field. Methods We collected relevant publications in the application of artificial intelligence to sepsis from the Web of Science Core Collection in 2000 to 2021. The type of publication was limited to articles and reviews, and language was limited to English. Research cooperation network, journals, cited references, keywords in this field were visually analyzed by using CiteSpace, VOSviewer, and COOC software. Results A total of 8,481 publications in the application of artificial intelligence to sepsis between 2000 and 2021 were included, involving 8,132 articles and 349 reviews. Over the past 22 years, the annual number of publications had gradually increased exponentially. The USA was the most productive country, followed by China. Harvard University, Schuetz, Philipp, and Intensive Care Medicine were the most productive institution, author, and journal, respectively. Vincent, Jl and Critical Care Medicine were the most cited author and cited journal, respectively. Several conclusions can be drawn from the analysis of the cited references, including the following: screening and identification of sepsis biomarkers, treatment and related complications of sepsis, and precise treatment of sepsis. Moreover, there were a spike in searches relating to machine learning, antibiotic resistance and accuracy based on burst detection analysis. Conclusion This study conducted a comprehensive and objective analysis of the publications on the application of artificial intelligence in sepsis. It can be predicted that precise treatment of sepsis through machine learning technology is still research hotspot in this field.

Abstract:Objectives: To perform a comprehensive bibliometric analysis of global publications on the applications of artificial intelligence (AI) in cardiology. Methods: Documents related to AI in cardiology published between 2002 and 2022 were retrieved from Web of Science Core Collection. R package "bibliometrix", VOSviewers and Microsoft Excel were applied to perform the bibliometric analysis. Results: A total of 4332 articles were included. United States topped the list of countries publishing articles, followed by China and United Kingdom. The Harvard University was the institution that contributed the most to this field, followed by University of California System and University of London. Disease risk prediction, diagnosis, treatment, disease detection, and prognosis assessment were the research hotspots for AI in cardiology. Conclusions: Enhancing cooperation between different countries and institutions is a critical step in leading to breakthroughs in the application of AI in cardiology. It is foreseeable that the application of machine learning and deep learning in various areas of cardiology will be a research priority in the coming years.

Abstract:Intratumoral heterogeneity was observed in two tumor lines (SbC11 and SbC12) derived from a single biopsy of a melanoma patient. Differences in drug sensitivity were observed in three cell lines of small cell lung carcinoma derived from the same patient, before (AE1), and after (AE2 and AE3) therapy with Adriamycin (ADM) and Cisplatinum (DDP). Moreover, heterogeneity in biological features and in drug sensitivity was observed in three continuous human glioma derived cell lines (LI, DF, and DP). The results show the importance of continuous cell lines for studying tumor heterogeneity and evaluating the effectiveness of antineoplastic agents.
The Top 2,000 Cited Articles in Critical Care Medicine: a Bibliometric Analysis.

Abstract:BACKGROUND:The bibliometric analysis has been performed on several topics in critical care medicine (CCM) focusing on top 100 cited articles, but the analysis on CCM literature as a whole is missing. The present study aimed to perform a complete bibliometric analysis in the field of CCM.METHODS:An electronic search of the Scopus database was performed on Feb 13, 2018. The search strategy involved core terms related to CCM. The top 2,000 most cited articles in the field of CCM were included in the analysis. Descriptive statistics on these top-cited articles, country distributions, and journals are reported. Individual author's productivity was assessed with the Lotka's law. Co-occurrence of keywords was visualized with the Fruchterman-Reingold layout. The Walktrap algorithm was employed for clustering analysis.RESULTS:A total of 2,000 documents were included in the analysis with median citations of 386 times [interquartile range (IQR): 308-562 times]. The most cited article was the original paper that described the Acute Physiology and Chronic Health Evaluation (APACHE) II score. The included articles were published in 411 journals. The median number of documents published in one journal was 1, and the mean number was 4.9, indicating a skewed distribution. The maximum number of publications was 217 in CCM. Author's productivity profile was significantly different from the Lotka's law (P=0.001), with n and C values of 2.8 and 0.52, respectively. Fruchterman-Reingold network plot showed that studies involving human subject were the most common literature type. Sepsis was a major research topic that co-occurred with keywords such as disease severity, nonhuman, risk assessment and practice guideline.CONCLUSIONS:The study performed bibliometric analyses of 2,000 top-cited articles in CCM. The most cited article was the one which developed the APACHE II score. Author's productivity was significantly different from the Lotka's law.

Abstract:Artificial intelligence (AI) is an emerging technology with numerous healthcare applications. AI could prove particularly useful in the cardiac intensive care unit (CICU) where its capacity to analyze large datasets in real-time would assist clinicians in making more informed decisions. This systematic review aimed to explore current research on AI as it pertains to the CICU. A PRISMA search strategy was carried out to identify the pertinent literature on topics including vascular access, heart failure care, circulatory support, cardiogenic shock, ultrasound, and mechanical ventilation. Thirty-eight studies were included. Although AI is still in its early stages of development, this review illustrates its potential to yield numerous benefits in the CICU.

Abstract:Objective: Public intensive care databases cover a wide range of data that are produced in intensive care units (ICUs). Public intensive care databases draw great attention from researchers since they were time-saving and money-saving in obtaining data. This study aimed to explore the current status and trends of publications based on public intensive care databases. Methods: Articles and reviews based on public intensive care databases, published from 2001 to 2021, were retrieved from the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC) for investigation. Scientometric software (CiteSpace and VOSviewer) were used to generate network maps and reveal hot spots of studies based on public intensive care databases. Results: A total of 456 studies were collected. Zhang Zhongheng from Zhejiang University (China) and Leo Anthony Celi from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT, USA) occupied important positions in studies based on public intensive care databases. Closer cooperation was observed between institutions in the same country. Six Research Topics were concluded through keyword analysis. Result of citation burst indicated that this field was in the stage of rapid development, with more diseases and clinical problems being investigated. Machine learning is still the hot research method in this field. Conclusions: This is the first time that scientometrics has been used in the investigation of studies based on public intensive databases. Although more and more studies based on public intensive care databases were published, public intensive care databases may not be fully explored. Moreover, it could also help researchers directly perceive the current status and trends in this field. Public intensive care databases could be fully explored with more researchers' knowledge of this field.

Abstract:Despite the growing interest in possible applications of computer science and artificial intelligence (AI) in the field of neurocritical care (neuro-ICU), widespread clinical applications are still missing. In neuro-ICU, the collection and analysis in real time of large datasets can play a crucial role in advancing this medical field and improving personalized patient care. For example, AI algorithms can detect subtle changes in brain activity or vital signs, alerting clinicians to potentially life-threatening conditions and facilitating rapid intervention. Consequently, data-driven AI and predictive analytics can greatly enhance medical decision making, diagnosis, and treatment, ultimately leading to better outcomes for patients. Nevertheless, there is a significant disparity between the current capabilities of AI systems and the potential benefits and applications that could be achieved with more advanced AI technologies. This gap is usually indicated as the AI chasm. In this paper, the underlying causes of the AI chasm in neuro-ICU are analyzed, along with proposed recommendations for utilizing AI to attain a competitive edge, foster innovation, and enhance patient outcomes. To bridge the AI divide in neurocritical care, it is crucial to foster collaboration among researchers, clinicians, and policymakers, with a focus on specific use cases. Additionally, strategic investments in AI technology, education and training, and infrastructure are needed to unlock the potential of AI technology. Before implementing a technology in patient care, it is essential to conduct thorough studies and establish clinical validation in real-world environments to ensure its effectiveness and safety. Finally, the development of ethical and regulatory frameworks is mandatory to ensure the secure and efficient deployment of AI technology throughout the process.
The research progress and research trends in acute coronary syndrome nursing: A review of visual analysis based on the Web of Science database

Abstract:Acute coronary syndrome (ACS) is an acute ischemic syndrome of the heart caused by thrombosis due to rupture or erosion of unstable atheromatous plaques in the coronary arteries. [ 1–3 ] It is more common in western countries such as Europe and the United States, with a higher incidence in men than in women, and is also a major cause of death in people. [ 3 , 4 ] Approximately 19 million people died from cardiovascular disease worldwide in 2020, an increase of 18.7% compared to 2010. [ 5 ] ACS is one of the most common and serious conditions of cardiovascular disease, which has attracted increasing attention worldwide in recent years. The care of ACS plays an important role in reducing readmissions and mortality. Studies have shown that the implementation of ACS care pathways can help minimize treatment delays and improve patient prognosis without increasing the additional financial burden on patients. [ 6 ] At present, the care of ACS patients has received more attention from scholars, and the relevant review literature is mainly from the diagnostic and treatment measures, risk prevention, disease management and other aspects of the exposition and summary, [ 7–10 ] and very few studies have used the form of visual mapping analysis to intuitively reflect the hotspot of the research and research frontiers of the care of ACS. CiteSpace is the development of visual analysis software in the context of scientometrics and data visualization, which allows authors in a particular field of research to analyze their data. It can qualitatively and quantitatively analyze the authors, institutions, countries, journals, and co-cited literature of a certain research field, and intuitively reflect the research hotspots and research frontiers of a certain research field in the form of dynamic mapping. [ 11–13 ] This advantage cannot be realized by traditional reviews. Therefore, this study intends to use bibliometric research methods to demonstrate the research hotspots and development trends in the field of ACS nursing in the past 10 years in the form of visual mapping by visualizing countries, institutions, authors, co-cited literature, and keywords, so as to provide a reference for the future research on ACSs.

Abstract:Purpose: This research intends to use literature review and bibliometric analysis methods to visually review the development status and important historical milestones of Artificial Intelligence, as well as the basic research, key topics, and future potential research hot spots of AI in the healthcare field. Methodology: Conduct in-depth analysis of AI in healthcare through bibliometrics methods such as publication activity analysis, co-occurrence analysis, and co-authorship analysis. Findings: This study outlines the development time trajectory of AI technology and its application in healthcare. Research shows that "algorithm", "machine learning", "deep learning", "controlled study", "major clinical study" and "healthcare delivery" as well as "decision support systems" are key topics for research. Gender-related research and ethical issues are areas of future focus. Research implications: The practical significance is that it can clarify and optimize the key directions of AI to improve the quality of medical decision-making, improve diagnostic accuracy and guide market investment. The originality is reflected in the comprehensive analysis of the development trajectory of AI in the medical and health field. Through a unique perspective and systematic approach, it provides an important reference for research trends and future directions in the field.
Global research trends and hotspots of artificial intelligence research in spinal cord neural injury and restoration—a bibliometrics and visualization analysis

Abstract:Background: Artificial intelligence (AI) technology has made breakthroughs in spinal cord neural injury and restoration in recent years. It has a positive impact on clinical treatment. This study explores AI research's progress and hotspots in spinal cord neural injury and restoration. It also analyzes research shortcomings related to this area and proposes potential solutions. Methods: We used CiteSpace 6.1.R6 and VOSviewer 1.6.19 to research WOS articles on AI research in spinal cord neural injury and restoration. Results: A total of 1,502 articles were screened, in which the United States dominated; Kadone, Hideki (13 articles, University of Tsukuba, JAPAN) was the author with the highest number of publications; ARCH PHYS MED REHAB (IF = 4.3) was the most cited journal, and topics included molecular biology, immunology, neurology, sports, among other related areas. Conclusion: We pinpointed three research hotspots for AI research in spinal cord neural injury and restoration: (1) intelligent robots and limb exoskeletons to assist rehabilitation training; (2) brain-computer interfaces; and (3) neuromodulation and noninvasive electrical stimulation. In addition, many new hotspots were discussed: (1) starting with image segmentation models based on convolutional neural networks; (2) the use of AI to fabricate polymeric biomaterials to provide the microenvironment required for neural stem cell-derived neural network tissues; (3) AI survival prediction tools, and transcription factor regulatory networks in the field of genetics were discussed. Although AI research in spinal cord neural injury and restoration has many benefits, the technology has several limitations (data and ethical issues). The data-gathering problem should be addressed in future research, which requires a significant sample of quality clinical data to build valid AI models. At the same time, research on genomics and other mechanisms in this field is fragile. In the future, machine learning techniques, such as AI survival prediction tools and transcription factor regulatory networks, can be utilized for studies related to the up-regulation of regeneration-related genes and the production of structural proteins for axonal growth.

Abstract:Artificial intelligence (AI) is a technique that attempts to replicate human intelligence, analytical behavior, and decision-making ability. This includes machine learning, which involves the use of algorithms and statistical techniques to enhance the computer's ability to make decisions more accurately. Due to AI's ability to analyze, comprehend, and interpret considerable volumes of data, it has been increasingly used in the field of healthcare. In critical care medicine, where most of the patient load requires timely interventions due to the perilous nature of the condition, AI's ability to monitor, analyze, and predict unfavorable outcomes is an invaluable asset. It can significantly improve timely interventions and prevent unfavorable outcomes, which, otherwise, is not always achievable owing to the constrained human ability to multitask with optimum efficiency. AI has been implicated in intensive care units over the past many years. In addition to its advantageous applications, this article discusses its disadvantages, prospects, and the changes needed to train future critical care professionals. A comprehensive search of electronic databases was performed using relevant keywords. Data from articles pertinent to the topic was assimilated into this review article.

Abstract:Background: With the rapid development of technology, artificial intelligence (AI) has been widely used in the diagnosis and prognosis prediction of a variety of diseases, including cardiovascular disease. Facts have proved that AI has broad application prospects in rapid and accurate diagnosis. Objective: This study mainly summarizes the research on the application of AI in the field of cardiovascular disease through bibliometric analysis and explores possible future research hotpots. Methods: The articles and reviews regarding application of AI in cardiovascular disease between 2000 and 2023 were selected from Web of Science Core Collection on 30 December 2023. Microsoft Excel 2019 was applied to analyze the targeted variables. VOSviewer (version 1.6.16), Citespace (version 6.2.R2), and a widely used online bibliometric platform were used to conduct co-authorship, co-citation, and co-occurrence analysis of countries, institutions, authors, references, and keywords in this field. Results: A total of 4,611 articles were selected in this study. AI-related research on cardiovascular disease increased exponentially in recent years, of which the USA was the most productive country with 1,360 publications, and had close cooperation with many countries. The most productive institutions and researchers were the Cedar sinai medical center and Acharya, Ur. However, the cooperation among most institutions or researchers was not close even if the high research outputs. Circulation is the journal with the largest number of publications in this field. The most important keywords are "classification", "diagnosis", and "risk". Meanwhile, the current research hotpots were "late gadolinium enhancement" and "carotid ultrasound". Conclusions: AI has broad application prospects in cardiovascular disease, and a growing number of scholars are devoted to AI-related research on cardiovascular disease. Cardiovascular imaging techniques and the selection of appropriate algorithms represent the most extensively studied areas, and a considerable boost in these areas is predicted in the coming years.
