Abstract:With the increasing global attention to environmental issues, the low-carbon economy has become an important way to promote the transformation and upgrading of the manufacturing industry. The purpose of this study is to explore the transformation and upgrading of the manufacturing industry under the background of dual-carbon development, deeply analyze the concept of low carbon economy, the status of the manufacturing industry and energy consumption, as well as the challenges and opportunities faced by the upgrading and transformation of the manufacturing industry under the background of low carbon. First, by explaining the importance of a low-carbon economy, the need to promote the development of the manufacturing industry in the low-carbon direction. Secondly, the current development status of the manufacturing industry is analyzed and reveals the existing problems and challenges. At the same time, some possible ways and strategies to solve these problems. To sum up, this study puts forward in-depth analysis and thinking in the field of transformation and upgrading of the manufacturing industry under the background of low carbon and provides theoretical support and practical guidance for promoting the sustainable development of the manufacturing industry under the background of dual-carbon development.

Abstract:Reducing carbon emissions in the manufacturing industry is the key to achieving the “double carbon” goal, and digital transformation provides a new way to achieve carbon emission reductions. This research empirically dissects the impact of digital transformation on carbon emissions within the manufacturing industry, using data from publicly listed companies in China's manufacturing sector spanning from 2011 to 2019. Our findings reveal that enterprise digital transformation exerts a substantial mitigating effect on carbon emissions in the manufacturing industry. The underlying mechanism underscores that digital transformation can achieve this reduction by elevating the level of government green subsidies and facilitating technological advancements. Moreover, the digital transformation of manufacturing enterprises can influence manufacturing carbon emissions through electricity consumption, exhibiting resembling an inverted U-shape. Heterogeneity analysis shows that enterprise digital transformation significantly reduces carbon emissions in the central and western regions, but the impact on the eastern region is not significant.

Abstract:With the rapid development of digital technologies, digital transformation has emerged as a crucial strategy to increase competitiveness and lower carbon emissions. To explore the impact and mechanisms of manufacturing enterprises' digital transformation on reducing their carbon emissions, this study uses data from A-share listed manufacturing enterprises on the Shanghai and Shenzhen Stock Exchanges from 2010 to 2019. Employing fixed-effect and mediation models, the empirical analyses yield the following results: (1) Digital transformation positively influences carbon emissions reduction in manufacturing enterprises. (2) The fulfillment of corporate social responsibility and advancement in technological innovation mediate the relationship between digital transformation and carbon emissions reduction. (3) Both internal (redundant resources) and external (government support) factors affect the impact of digital transformation on carbon emissions. Reducing redundant resources and strengthening government support amplify the positive effect of digital transformation, while redundant resources negatively regulate the initial phase of the impact path of “digital transformation - technological innovation–carbon emissions intensity”. (4) Heterogeneity results reveal that digital transformation plays a more significant role in carbon emission reduction for heavy-polluting enterprises and China's central region. Hence, proactive digital transformation promotion is essential for enterprises aiming to achieve the “dual-carbon” goal, with optimization of internal resource integration and government-appropriate support.

Abstract:Wireless systems using license-free 60 GHz band have been focused as Gbps ultra-high speed data rate short range communication. Beamforming techniques based on array antennas have been employed to obtain high directional antenna gain. In order to realize an array antenna in millimeter-wave frequency range, the accuracy of positioning of the antenna elements becomes considerably important. Conventional 60 GHz band beamforming antennas have used a patch array antenna configuration. Since the patch antenna is patterned on a substrate, high accuracy of the positioning is obtained. These patch array antennas realize a main beam in the vertical direction of the substrate. In order to realize a main beam in the horizontal direction of the substrate, 1×4 dipole array antenna was developed and beam scanning in the azimuth plane was possible. For 2-dimensional (azimuth/elevation) beam scanning, 3×2 vivaldi array antenna using multi-layered substrate was reported. It showed the 2-dimensional beam scanning function, but a high antenna gain could not be obtained. Since the antenna elements were fabricated in a multi-layered substrate, the antenna elements were placed very close (nearly 1/25 λ0) in elevation direction and it caused relatively low antenna gain.

Abstract:With the continuous intensification of competition among major countries and the resurgence of anti-globalization trends, countries around the world have strengthened their strategic deployment for digital transformation in the manufacturing industry. Digital development enables enterprises to transform and upgrade, and the digital transformation and green transformation of enterprises have a historic intersection. This study uses the panel data of 1900 A-share listed companies to explain the theoretical mechanism of digital transformation to promote carbon emission reduction from the perspective of green technology progress. In addition, the threshold model is used to analyze the nonlinear relationship. The results show that the digital transformation has significantly reduced the carbon emission level of Chinese manufacturing enterprises, and the conclusion is still true after the instrumental variable estimation and robustness test. Heterogeneity analysis found that the carbon emission reduction in state-owned enterprises is more obvious. Green technology innovation capability shows the technology dividend effect, which is an important way for digital transformation to promote carbon emission reduction. This study expands the research on the sustainable development of China's manufacturing industry and provides guidance for policy makers and business decision makers.

Abstract:Living a "low-carbon" life has been widely recognized and is gradually adopted by the public. Such a trend becomes one of the main drivers for manufacturing innovations. Meanwhile, to meet the emerging requirements, such as providing highly customized product, building flexible and collaborative production, cloud manufacturing is proposed in recent years. A close examination of its environmental benefits is needed. In this paper, resource utilization is focused. In the architecture of cloud manufacturing, energy consumption is analyzed and re-evaluated systematically, including energy characteristics, added energy segments and required functions. Three key merits are identified, better resource integration and optimization, higher resource utility rate, and facilitated knowledge sharing mechanism. However, these improvements can be cancelled in an energy-unattended cloud manufacturing system, for example, ignorance of energy data or inadequate energy models. A framework is then designed for performing energy analysis in a cloud environment. Conclusions are given at the end.

Abstract:Under the dual background of global industrial value chain and low-carbon emission reduction, the green transformation and upgrading of the manufacturing industry is an important way to promote production and promote sustainable economic development. Considering that the green transformation of the manufacturing industry is a typical complex adaptation system, based on the intrinsic relationship between the dynamic theory and the green transformation of the manufacturing industry, this paper takes the endogenous variable of the transformation of manufacturing enterprises as the entry point, simulates the transformation of new and old dynamic energy of green transformation, and explores the mechanism of green transformation and upgrading of manufacturing industry and the conversion process. According to the model, it is concluded that the green transformation of manufacturing enterprises is the result of the multi-stage transformation of enterprises. In this process, the change inertia overcomes old dynamic inertia and promotes the new dynamic to gradually replace the old dynamic. At the end of the article, specific suggestions are given to promote the green transformation of manufacturing enterprises from the aspects of ideology, policy support, digital empowerment, financial service guarantee system and communication and cooperation.
Improving carbon emission efficiency in Chinese manufacturing: A study considering technological heterogeneity and noise

Abstract:Improving carbon emission efficiency in Chinese manufacturing is crucial for achieving dual benefits of economic growth and energy conservation. However, traditional data envelopment analysis methods fail to simultaneously consider technological heterogeneity and data noise. In this study, we propose a novel meta-frontier carbon emission efficiency indicator that accounts for both technological heterogeneity and noise, utilizing an improved Shephard carbon distance function. To uncover the sources of efficiency loss, we analyze efficiency from the perspectives of production technology and management, decomposing meta-frontier carbon emission inefficiency into technological gap inefficiency and management inefficiency. Based on this framework, we calculate the meta-frontier carbon emission efficiency for 27 manufacturing industries in China from 2011 to 2020 and analyze the underlying causes of their low carbon emission efficiency. The results indicate that Chinese manufacturing exhibits relatively low meta-frontier carbon emission efficiency with significant industrial heterogeneity. Industries with high technological levels outperform those with medium and low technological levels. The main cause of carbon emission inefficiency in Chinese manufacturing is attributed to technological gaps. Building upon these findings, we propose measures to enhance carbon emission efficiency for different manufacturing industries at varying technological levels. Our research sheds light on important patterns among different sectors.

Abstract:Under the Chinese government’s carbon neutral target, digital transformation enabling low-carbon technology innovation has become an innovative starting point to promote the new development concept. We use data from a sample of 270 manufacturing companies in 30 provinces and cities in China, this paper constructs an analysis framework of low-carbon technology innovation in manufacturing driven by digital transformation with knowledge reconstruction as the intermediary variable and knowledge sharing as the regulating variable, and empirically explores the impact of digital transformation on low-carbon technology innovation. It is found that the digital transformation of the manufacturing industry has a significant positive impact on low-carbon technology innovation, and is an important power source to promote low-carbon technology innovation. Knowledge reconstruction plays a part of intermediary role between digital transformation and low-carbon technology innovation, and plays a key role as a bridge. Knowledge sharing plays a positive role in digital transformation, knowledge reconstruction and low-carbon technology innovation. The research clarified the differences and suitability in the process of low-carbon technology innovation in the digitally enabled manufacturing industry and answered the question of how to effectively use knowledge management to realize digitalization and help the industrial low-carbon innovation and upgrading in the digital economy era, which has important reference significance for guiding the green and high-quality development of the industry.

Abstract:Digital transformation serves as a new driving force and engine for enterprise innovation. Meanwhile, the national strategy of carbon peaking and carbon neutrality has set new goals and requirements for the green development of the Chinese manufacturing industry. From the three-dimensional-dimensional perspective of " strategy-resource-institution," this paper explores the impact and mechanism of digital transformation on green technology innovation of Chinese manufacturing enterprises and the heterogeneous impact of the institutional logic of ownership structure. Using a sample of 1,016 A-share listed manufacturing companies on the Shanghai and Shenzhen Stock Exchanges from 2011 to 2019 and based on big data text mining and a negative binomial regression model, this study finds that: (1) Digital strategy significantly enhances green technology innovation capability of enterprises; (2) digital resource investment partially mediates the effect of digital strategy on the enhancement of green technology innovation capability; and (3) the ownership structure of enterprises plays a moderating role in the mediating relationship mentioned above. Specifically, compared to state-owned enterprises (SOEs), non- state-owned enterprises (NSOEs) show no significant difference in the stages where digital strategy promotes green technology innovation and guides digital resource investment. However, they demonstrate higher efficiency in transforming digital resource investment into green technology innovation. The robustness test indicates that the significant effect of digital strategy and resource investment on green technology innovation in enterprises remains valid in the medium term, with a continuous enabling effect. There is no significant difference between SOEs and NSOEs in the medium and long term in promoting green technology innovation through digital transformation. Further, introducing keyword text networks to explore the structural impact of digital strategy, this study finds that digital product and manufacturing strategy are adequate strategic dimensions to enhance green technology innovation capability, and digital financial strategy and digital marketing strategy have no direct promoting effect on green technology innovation of enterprises. From the perspectives of strategies, resources, and institutions, the research findings elucidate the process mechanisms of digital acceleration in the green transformation of manufacturing and the heterogeneous effect of ownership structure and provide critical theoretical insights into the role mechanisms and contextual factors of digitalization on green innovation in manufacturing enterprises. Moreover, this study offers scientific decision-making support for incentivizing the manufacturing industry to seize the opportunities of industrial digitalization and accelerate carbon peaking and carbon neutrality.
Does enterprise digital transformation contribute to green innovation? Micro-level evidence from China

Abstract:The synergy of digitalization and greening has emerged as a prominent means to achieve the goal of "carbon peaking and carbon neutrality". Given its significant contribution to carbon emissions, the impact of digital transformation on green innovation in manufacturing enterprises remains a longstanding research hotspot. Therefore, based on the data from China A-share listed manufacturing companies spanning from 2007 to 2022, this paper empirically analyzes the influence and mechanism of digital transformation on green innovation. Our findings reveal that digital transformation can significantly promote green innovation in manufacturing enterprises, with a particularly pronounced effect on substantive green innovation. These conclusions withstand rigorous robustness tests. Mechanism analysis shows that digital transformation can facilitate green innovation by improving internal control quality and fostering industry-university-research cooperation. Moreover, our moderation analysis reveals that both equity incentives and compensation incentives strengthen the positive relationship between digital transformation and green innovation in manufacturing enterprises. Heterogeneity analysis proves that digital transformation exerts a more pronounced impact on green innovation of state-owned manufacturing enterprises, non-heavily polluted manufacturing enterprises, and enterprises located in regions with strong intellectual property protection. Furthermore, the transformation of digital underlying technologies is more conducive to fostering green innovation compared to practical application transformation. Subsequent investigation into the economic and social effects of green innovation indicates that it effectively reduces pollution emissions from manufacturing enterprises without compromising their development. Additionally, the emission reduction and income-generating effect resulting from digital transformation primarily manifest through substantive green innovation. This research expands upon the theory regarding the impact of digital transformation on green innovation in micro-manufacturing enterprises, providing empirical support for facilitating low-carbon transformations among manufacturing enterprises under the goal of "carbon peaking and carbon neutrality".

Abstract:The going of present pilot study is an analysis of features changes of EEG short pieces registered from 32 sites, at perception of musical melodies healthy examinees depending on logic (cognizance) and emotional (it was pleasant it was not pleasant) melody estimations. For this purpose changes of event-related synchronization/desynchronization, and also wavelet-synchrony of EEG-responses at 31 healthy examinees at the age from 18 till 60 years were compared. It is shown that at a logic estimation of music the melody cognizance is accompanied the event-related desynchronization in the left fronto-parietal-temporal area. At an emotional estimation of a melody the event-related synchronization in left fronto - temporal area for the pleasant melodies, desynchronization in temporal area for not pleasant and desynchronization in occipital area for the melodies which are not causing the emotional response is typical. At the analysis of wavelet-synchrony of EEG characterizing jet changes of interaction of cortical zones, it is revealed that the most distinct topographical distinctions concern type of processing of the heard music: logic (has learned-hasn't learned) or emotional (it was pleasant-it was not pleasant). If at an emotional estimation changes interhemispheric communications between associative cortical zones (central, frontal, temporal), are more expressed at logic - between inter - and intrahemispheric communications of projective zones of the acoustic analyzer (temporal area). It is supposed that the revealed event-related synchronization/desynhronization reflects, most likely, an activation component of an estimation of musical fragments whereas the wavelet-analysis provides guidance on character of processing of musical stimulus.

Abstract:With the continuous promotion of digitalization and the global trend toward a low-carbon economy, the issue of whether enterprises can enhance their carbon performance with the assistance of digital technology has aroused widespread attention from both academia and industry. In order to explore whether digital technology can improve the carbon performance of manufacturing enterprises, this study, based on resource orchestration theory and signaling theory, utilizes data from China's A-share manufacturing enterprises from 2012 to 2021 to empirically investigate the relationship between digital technology and the carbon performance of manufacturing firms. It also explores the mediating conduction path and boundary influencing factors between them. Its findings demonstrate that: digital technology is capable of improving carbon performance; green innovation (including green technology and green collaboration) has partially mediating effects; there is a catalytic role for environmental information disclosure in utilizing digital technology to enhance carbon performance. Building on this, we find that the impacts of digital technology, green innovation, and environmental information disclosure on carbon performance vary due to differences in the nature of industries and the strategic aggressiveness of enterprises. Specifically, the role of digital technology on carbon performance seems somewhat more pronounced among firms in the high-tech industry and those employing defensive and analytical strategies. Additionally, the effects generated by green innovation and environmental information are more pronounced in the high-tech industry and among enterprises that adopt analytical strategies. This study reveals the inherent mechanism of digital technology in enhancing the carbon performance of manufacturing enterprises, which provides empirical evidence for the development of digital technology and the improvement of carbon performance in manufacturing enterprises, thus helping promote low-carbon economic transformation.

Abstract:Digital transformation provides new opportunities for the green development of enterprises. Clarifying the impact and mechanism of digital transformation on enterprise pollution reduction has important policy implications for the synergistic development of digitalization and greenization. This paper explores the impact of digital transformation on enterprise pollution abatement using data from Chinese manufacturing enterprises and fixed effects models. The empirical results show that digital transformation contributes to enterprise pollution reduction. Furthermore, the pollution reduction role of digital transformation is more pronounced in enterprises with high degrees of pollution intensity. Digital transformation acts on pollution reduction through productivity improvement and scale expansion, while a mechanism for green technology innovation does not exist. Additionally, industry attributes and external environment heterogeneity affect the pollution abatement role of digital transformation. Enterprises can achieve stronger pollution abatement from digital transformation when they belong to high-polluting industries, high-tech industries, areas with high environmental regulation (HER), and cohorts. The paper provides new micro evidence that digital transformation promotes pollution reduction, enriches the literature on the environmental impact of digital transformation, and provides beneficial insights for enterprises to drive pollution reduction in the era of the digital economy.

Abstract:Manufacturing servitization can reverse the low-end situation of China's manufacturing industry, which is "big but not strong," and is an effective path to green transformation. Previous studies have neglected the impact of manufacturing servitization on enterprise energy conservation and emissions reduction (ECER). To fill this research gap, we manually compiled enterprises' servitization data combined with the microdata of listed manufacturing enterprises in China A-share from 2010 to 2019. Based on the digital transformation perspective, we explored the impact of manufacturing servitization on enterprise ECER. The conclusions are as follows: (1) manufacturing servitization promotes enterprise ECER. This finding remains robust even after the endogeneity problem is overcome using the difference-in-differences model and the instrumental variable method. (2) Manufacturing servitization's ECER performance is more significant in labor and capital-intensive and state-owned enterprises. (3) Manufacturing servitization achieves ECER by improving green technological innovation and optimizing the factor structure. (4) The moderating effect of digital transformation on manufacturing servitization and enterprise ECER is negative, implying that increased digital transformation can drive manufacturing servitization to better promote enterprise ECER. In addition, the moderating effect of digital transformation manifests only in regions with high-intensity intellectual property protections. This study highlights the direction of green transformation in China's manufacturing industry.

Abstract:In the context of the low-carbon transition, enhancing green innovation efficiency (GIE) emerges as a vital pathway for the manufacturing industry to achieve sustainability. However, within the ongoing wave of digital transformation (DT), there is limited research addressing the connection between DT and GIE in manufacturing firms. Drawing from the resource-based view and resource dependency theory, this research aims to evaluate the potential of DT in driving GIE by analyzing data from 682 publicly listed manufacturing firms in China between 2011 and 2021. Our findings indicate that DT exerts a notable and positive influence on GIE. Meanwhile, this study identifies improving management efficiency as the mediating pathway through which DT affects GIE. Additionally, R&D subsidies positively moderate the beneficial impact of DT on GIE. Lastly, state-owned companies derive greater benefits in terms of GIE from the process of DT.

Abstract:In the current complex and ever-changing environment, the high-quality development of manufacturing enterprises has a long way to go. The theoretical framework based on technology, the organization and the environment (TOE) from a configuration perspective provides a new integrated theoretical perspective for studying the green transformation path of Chinese manufacturing enterprises. The research purpose of this article is to use fuzzy set qualitative comparative analysis (fsQCA) and necessary condition analysis (NCA) to explore the configuration effects of various antecedents in the TOE theoretical framework of Chinese manufacturing enterprises, "technology (green technological innovation, digital transformation)-the organization (redundant resources, supply chain concentration, information transparency)-the environment (environmental governance pressure)", to achieve a green transformation. The research findings show that no single factor is a necessary condition for achieving a high level of green transformation. There are six ways to achieve high green transformation levels for manufacturing enterprises, namely, technology-information collaborative green transformation, technology-supply chain collaborative-driven green transformation, digital-organization collaborative-driven green transformation, innovation-organization collaborative-driven green transformation, organization-environment collaborative-driven green transformation, and full-level multifactor collaborative-driven green transformation. The research conclusion will further expand research on the green transformation of enterprises and provide useful and practical references for green transformation paths of enterprises.

Effect of Green Transformational Leadership and Organizational Environmental Culture on Manufacturing Enterprise Low Carbon Innovation Performance

Abstract:Previous studies stated that low carbon innovation performance could be influenced by government regulations and the green market, which is the new trend of consumer consumption in the present time, mainly focusing on external factors. Before study augured that low carbon innovation performance could be driven by internal and external factors of cooperation such as institutional pressure, stakeholder pressure, and innovation resources. However, the study of green transformational leadership and organizational environmental culture on low carbon innovation performance is rare, especially in Chinese manufacturing, as well as the effect of influencing factors of TPB model: environmental attitude, subjective norm, and perceived behavior capability on low carbon innovation performance. Previous studies mostly used the TPB model for predicting individual behavior. This study established a theoretical model combining the TPB model with green transformational leadership and organizational environmental culture of Chinese automobile manufacturing on low carbon innovation performance. This study consists of two sections of research methodology: section 1 related to questionnaire design and data collection. We established a questionnaire and distributed it online, targeting responses from the managerial level working in Chinese automobile manufacturing. Eventually, 155 valid questionnaires were used for analysis. Section 2 involved data analysis using statistical software. Reliability and data validity was examined by reliability analysis and factor analysis. Correlations and convergent validity analyses were applied, and structural equation modeling was conducted to test the proposed hypotheses. The findings indicated that green transformational leadership, organizational environmental culture, and essential factors of TPB model; environmental attitude, subjective norm and perceived behavior capability positively affect low carbon innovation performance. In addition, the indirect effect of green transformational leadership was tested and found that organizational environmental culture and TPB factors mediated the relationship between transformational leadership and low carbon innovation performance.
