Abstract:During the past decade, the restaurant industry is expanding at a fast speed and will continue in the future. With an annual growth rate of 7%, the Indian restaurant industry is worth Rs. 75000 crore. As the lifestyle of people changed, they have a lack of time in the fast-paced time of today. This problem has been solved with the advancement in the field of e-commerce where customers receive their products at their doorstep. Development of technology in various fields leads Indian food and restaurant service towards online food ordering businesses with the help of various self or third-party online food delivery portals. The Indian online food delivery market is anticipated to be an opportunity of $17.02 billion by 2023, registering an annual growth rate of 16 percent. The present research focuses on the study of data obtained from users of online food delivery services via an online questionnaire. The objective of the analysis is to analyse the demographic factors influencing the choice of OFD services and the consumption pattern of OFD services. The sample size consists of 256 people aged 18 years and over. The study reveals customer pattern of using OFD services and explore the association of demographic factors with service consuming behavior.

Abstract:Online food delivery applications (OFDA) are an emerging area of an online-to-offline (O2O) service delivery platform. In times of the COVID-19 pandemic the OFDA apps can help the restaurant and catering industry to thrive by allowing the consumers to order food from the safety of their homes. In this aspect evaluating the end-to-end service quality is an important issue starting right from the interaction with the OFDA apps for searching and ordering food to the last mile consumer experience with the delivery quality and food quality. The initial experience with the OFDA apps is captured through three mobile app attributes: visual design, navigational design, and information design. Consumer satisfaction and loyalty are considered to be the dependent variables in this study. Data is collected using an online questionnaire from 315 university students in India who are actual users of different OFDA apps during the pandemic period. Data analysis is done using a Partial Least Squares – Structural Equation Modeling approach. The findings show that satisfaction is the greatest predictor of loyalty, followed by food quality. Among the mobile app attributes information design has the highest impact on both satisfaction and loyalty, followed by navigational and visual design respectively. Based on the results appropriate theoretical and practical implications are discussed and suggested.

Abstract:Purpose This study aims to investigate the different attributes of electronic commerce (e-commerce) that determine perceived value and electronic loyalty (e-loyalty) among consumers of online food delivery applications (OFDAs). In this globalized world and competitive environment, e-commerce demands have increased and organizations are giving special attention to web development, website design and functions to hold the current consumers with sustainable performance in the globalized and competitive environment. Almost every industry has been affected by the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) and changed the way of operational work in many industries. Similarly, the food industry is facing serious challenges and now restaurants started heavily depending on OFDAs. Design/methodology/approach The study was quantitative and data were collected from 509 consumers of the district of Rawalpindi, Punjab Pakistan by using a convenience sampling technique who was the users of OFDAs to evaluate the proposed research model. Confirmatory factor analysis was applied to evaluate the validity of the constructs, and structural equation modeling was employed to test the model through Smart-PLS. Findings Our findings revealed that perceived value has a substantial positive impact on electronic loyalty (e-loyalty). Moreover, results confirmed that perceived value mediates the relationship of electronic privacy (e-privacy), electronic security (e-security), electronic payment (e-payment), usability and electronic innovativeness (e-innovativeness) with e-loyalty. Research limitations/implications This study added to the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT) and technology acceptance model (TAM) by exploring consumers’ intentions for using OFDAs in the framework of e-commerce attributes, perceived value and e-loyalty. Similarly, the study enabled the author to learn more about how people would use the information system after successfully applying the UTAUT. Practical implications This study has significant implications for web developers, application designers, food delivery companies, restaurants and other businesses. Subsequently, it indicates the importance of the incredible attractiveness of OFDAs in boosting users’ intentions to keep using the application. Originality/value This research contributes substantially to OFDAs efforts to continuously increase its meal service platform and improve client satisfaction which resulted in repurchase intent. In addition, the research facilitates OFDA firms to enhance the features of their applications according to clients.

Abstract:Before the pandemic, restaurants were gradually adapting to the food delivery platforms along with dine in. As the pandemic came in, people suddenly proceeded to live in their homes a lot more and do leisure activities from the comfort of their homes. As the pandemic surged and the implementation of government rules came into existence, consumers stopped dining-in. The only medium of resort was the adoption of digital aid. This study aims to understand the various factors that affect the Online Food Delivery Experience (OFDO). This quantitative study was conducted on 354 respondents following a descriptive research design using a structured questionnaire. The study showed that factors such as time-saving orientation, hygiene maintenance, good food quality, good e-service quality, and technological readiness among people have a positive influence on the Food Delivery platform experience. Where as, fear of privacy and security and perceived threats have a negative impact on the food delivery platform experience. A Chi-square test was used to analyse the influence of various factors such as time-saving orientation, E-Service quality, food quality and hygiene on the experience with food delivery platforms.

Abstract:In World War II, female volunteers participated in the work of delivering food to soldiers. The idea of food service delivery spread from the UK to the United States, and food delivery has become a new business model worldwide. In 1987, Pizza Hut began to order by phone and provide food delivery services to capture market share. With the development of the internet and the popularity of smartphone, online ordering and online food delivery (OFD) have become a trend, lifestyle and multibillion-dollar business. In 2017, Malaysia's online food delivery boomed. There are numerous food ordering service platforms on the market, including FoodPanda, Uber Eats (now changed to GrabFood), Honestbee, Dahmakan, DeliverEat, Running Man Delivery, etc. Hence, this research aims to identify factors that continue to influence Malaysian consumer satisfaction with online food delivery after the COVID-19 pandemic and in the future. The results show that perceived price, promotion & discount, convenience motivation, service approach quality, and food quality positively impact the trend factors of OFD services. These findings can provide essential insights for OFD service providers, the restaurant industry and academics, critical for OFD services to improve consumer satisfaction.

Abstract:Online food delivery (OFD) has gradually become a development trend in the catering industry. However, the homogenization of the principal OFD platforms is becoming increasingly obvious, and there is an urgent need to explore the continuous usage intentions of consumers of the OFD platform. Unlike previous studies, this study employs DeLone and McLean's information system (IS) success model as the theoretical framework and constructs the influencing factors model of the continued usage intentions of users of the OFD platform from three aspects, namely, service, system, and information quality. Participants ( N = 361) completed a questionnaire assessing their continuous usage intentions of the OFD platform, and the results were analyzed using a structural equation model (SEM). Service worker, platform quality, and content consistency have significant positive effects on the trust in the platform and satisfaction of consumers. Both the trust in the platform and satisfaction of consumers have a positive impact on their continuous usage intentions. We also explored the mediating effect of the trust in the platform and satisfaction of consumers. This study adds to the academic literature and practical implications for the continuous usage intention of consumers. This study discusses the influencing factors and formation mechanism of the continuous usage intention of consumers and proposes a model of the continuous usage intention of consumers of OFD platforms. Moreover, OFD platforms can make differentiation strategies more targeted and eliminate the dilemma of homogenization competition of OFD platforms.

Abstract:Purpose Online food delivery (OFD) has witnessed momentous consumer adoption in the past few years, and COVID-19, if anything, is only accelerating its growth. This paper captures numerous intricate issues arising from the complex relationship among the stakeholders because of the enhanced scale of the OFD business. The purpose of this paper is to highlight publication trends in OFD and identify potential future research themes. Design/methodology/approach The authors conducted a tri-method study – systematic literature review, bibliometric and thematic content analysis – of 43 articles on OFD published in 24 journals from 2015 to 2021 (March). The authors used VOSviewer to perform citation analysis. Findings Systematic literature review of the existing OFD research resulted in six potential research themes. Further, thematic content analysis synthesized and categorized the literature into four knowledge clusters, namely, (i) digital mediation in OFD, (ii) dynamic OFD operations, (iii) OFD adoption by consumers and (iv) risk and trust issues in OFD. The authors also present the emerging trends in terms of the most influential articles, authors and journals. Practical implications This paper captures the different facets of interactions among various OFD stakeholders and highlights the intricate issues and challenges that require immediate attention from researchers and practitioners. Originality/value This is one of the few studies to synthesize OFD literature that sheds light on unexplored aspects of complex relationships among OFD stakeholders through four clusters and six research themes through a conceptual framework.

Abstract:Innovative technologies are paving the way for the online purchase of products and services. The COVID-19 also harness online shopping and hotel booking in the post-COVID-19 era. Online hotel booking is becoming the norm among young consumers. The six determinants of the intention to use online hotel booking platforms (OHBPs) are information quality, integrity, perceived risks, perceived benefits, system quality, and service quality was utilized in the study. Cross-sectional data were collected through the online survey, and 884 valid responses were utilised for the data analysis. The analysis results showed that the perceived benefits, system quality, and service quality significantly predicted the intention to use the OHBPs. Meanwhile, the usefulness and quantity of online reviews and the intention to use OHBPs have a positive and significant effect on the usage of the OHBPs. The study results confirmed the insignificant moderating role of the usefulness and quantity of online hotel booking reviews in the relationship between the intention to use and the usage of OHBPs. The intention to use OHBPs had low predictive power, while the usage of OHBPs had high predictive power. This study's findings have offered valuable theoretical and managerial contributions. The management of OHBPs needs to concentrate on information quality and integrity to help manage the associated risks of online hotel booking. Previous customers' reviews are vital to encourage the usage of OHBPs. Finally, social media usage and promoting the OHBPs by sharing satisfied users' experiences improve the intention and usage of the OHBPs.

Abstract:Online food delivery services are a growing sector of the hospitality industry. As such, it is important to gain a better understanding of the factors that influence consumer attitudes and purchase intention. Accordingly, this study was designed to investigate the influence of perceived benefits (convenience, trust, order accuracy, and variety of choices), perceived risks (psychological risks, financial risks, and product risks), and online persuasion through central routes (argument quality) and peripheral routes (image appeal, navigation design, social presence, and connectedness) on consumer attitudes and purchase intention by integrating theory of planned behavior, theory of perceived risks, and the elaboration likelihood model. Mediation relationships were also examined. Based on an online survey of 814 participants living in the United States, it was found that perceived benefits, perceived risks, and online persuasion influenced consumer attitudes and purchase intention. Theoretical and practical implications, as well as directions for future research, are also discussed in this paper.

Abstract:The rise in online food delivery (OFD) services during the COVID-19 pandemic has significantly altered consumer behavior and provided a lifeline to many restaurants. As Malaysia transitions from the pandemic to endemic phases, marked by the reopening of physical dining options, prompts a pertinent question: will the increased reliance on OFD continue as a dominant food consumption method? This study adopts a quantitative methodology to explore the factors influencing customer intentions toward the continued use of OFD services after the pandemic. Utilizing a descriptive research design, this study specifically examined the evolving landscape of OFD utilization in Setiawangsa, Kuala Lumpur. Data were gathered through purposive sampling with 384 respondents participating in an online survey. The findings reveal a strong positive correlation between perceived usefulness and customer intention to use OFD services, underscoring the critical influence of perceived usefulness in promoting OFD adoption. Conversely, no significant correlations are observed between price-saving benefits, time-saving benefits, and customer intentions, indicating that more complex factors drive consumer behavior. This research offers crucial insights into the post-pandemic adoption dynamics of OFD, providing valuable information for industry stakeholders and policymakers on the necessary strategic adjustments to align with changing consumer preferences. By employing a thorough quantitative approach and effective sampling strategy, this study elucidates the determinants of customer intentions towards OFD services during the endemic phase, aiding the development of informed and sustainable business strategies in the evolving post-COVID-19 pandemic.

Abstract:Online food delivery applications (FDAs), a novel alternative marketing channel, have been extensively adopted by both enterprises and customers in the restaurant sector. Despite the changing consumer attitude towards FDA services, there is still a dearth of research on understanding consumers’ continued intention to use FDA services in Bangladesh’s expanding food delivery market, particularly after the COVID-19 pandemic. To attain this goal, this study employed the widely used Extended Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT2). The model was tested was evaluated using partial least square structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) on 350 respondents. According to the findings of the study, performance expectancy, social influence, facilitating conditions, hedonic motivation, price value, information quality, and convenience are all critical factors in maintaining the desire to utilize FDA services in Bangladesh. However, effort expectancy, habit, and time-saving were insignificant in the context of Bangladesh. This study contributes theoretically and practically to academics and practitioners working in areas related to online FDAs services.

Abstract:This research presents an integrative approach, leveraging large-scale user-generated content (online reviews) to decipher consumers' quality perceptions in the burgeoning Online Food Delivery (OFD) sector. Utilizing the advanced BERTopic machine learning algorithm, we first qualitatively identify key service topics (qualities) pertaining to consumers' OFD experience. Different from prior studies that overlook the synergies between cutting-edge machine learning and traditional methods, our findings are reflected against current scales established with traditional methods such as interviews and surveys. This practice allows us to highlight several topics overlooked by existing framework, such as corporate social responsibility, and identify low-importance service dimensions like personalization experience. Following the narrative analysis, an importance-performance analysis is undertaken to discern the priority of quality improvement for OFD platforms. Collectively, our insights offer pivotal theoretical and practical implications for practitioners and researchers in the OFD domain. Besides, our integrative approach balances theoretical development and practical applicability and can be readily extended to wider service scenarios.

Abstract:Consumers and distributors have benefited from the food industry just as much as food producers have. Nowadays, an online food delivery system is essential due to recent advances in the industry and the increased internet usage. Understanding the key success factors that contribute to sustainable growth and profitability in this space is essential for businesses looking to succeed in this rapidly evolving market. While there are many benefits to ordering food online, there are also several issues that need to be addressed. The objective of this study is to determine the critical success factors of the online food delivery service towards customer satisfaction. Total of 306 people that have experienced using the online food delivery system were surveyed from January till May 2022, and questionnaire were analysed by using the SPSS. Findings show that perceived quality, perceived ease of use and perceived value have positive relationship towards customer satisfaction. It is seen as opportunities for service providers to reap the benefits of recurring earnings from consumers by providing fast delivery, good meals, and fair promotions.

Abstract:This study is dedicated to m-commerce and examines the key factors determining loyalty to online food delivery (OFD) services in Indonesia, Taiwan, and New Zealand, as these countries have faced varying degrees of pandemic severity. The data analysis using Partial Least Square Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) shows that the quality of both food and e-service, satisfaction, perceived value, and trust are significant predictors of loyalty in all countries. Food quality drives consumer loyalty, contentment, and perceived value in Indonesia and Taiwan, but e-service quality is the main determinant in New Zealand. These differences can be attributed to the status quo of the OFD service market in the three countries pre-Covid, cultural factors, the pandemic severity, and consumer access to other distribution channels. Best practice recommendations for marketing managers associated with OFD are presented.

Abstract:Food technology has evolved over time, from cutting-edge technology in the food manufacturing process to facilitating online food delivery operations. Zomato, an Indian company, pioneered the online food industry by creating a search tool for nearby restaurants with a user-friendly interface and virtual space for comments, reviews, and assessments. This led to the evolution of the online food industry in India as a search engine rather than a delivery service. Companies like Foodpanda and Swiggy entered the market, competing for consumer attention, leading to the emergence of online food delivery applications. These platforms have become the youngest and most popular online segments in India. They serve as intermediaries between consumers and food establishments, facilitating the delivery process, bridging the gap between customers and restaurateurs, and facilitating the overall functioning of the online food delivery ecosystem. Revenue for online meal delivery enterprises is derived from commissions on food goods, typically 22% to 26% of the food item's price. However, these applications also help businesses reduce expenses related to delivery personnel wages, vehicle upkeep, fuel expenditures, and the risk of losing customers due to insufficient staff during peak periods. During discount seasons, applications allocate around 60% of the discount offered to buyers. Online meal delivery applications have been crucial in helping restaurants formulate strategic approaches to attract clients and secure their viability in a competitive environment. A study by the Interactive Advertising Bureau and Viggle showed that 69% of the overall customer base prefers using mobile devices for online orders. The Indian culinary and beverage industry has evolved, with Indian restaurants gaining global prominence due to cultural diversity and international cuisine. Online food delivery applications allow people to experience a variety of cuisines without the inconvenience of cooking and avoiding chaos and wasted time. These apps allow users to explore different restaurants and cuisines from home, place orders, and receive meals within specified timeframes, freeing up time for other productive tasks.

Abstract:This study aims to analyze the antecedents affecting consumer behavioral intention in the context of online food delivery applications in Indonesia. The constructs used in this study are Attitude and Subjective Norms from the Theory of Reasoned Action (TRA), Perceived Usefulness and Perceived Ease of Use from the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), as well as the Task-Technology Fit (TTF) construct. This research is important as the use of online food delivery applications continues to grow and is predicted to further increase in the future, transforming consumer behavior in the process after the pandemic. Additionally, this study explores and contributes to the limited understanding of the consumers' trust in their attitude and intention to continue using online food delivery applications. Moreover, Indonesia is one of the countries with the highest usage of online food delivery applications globally. The research methodology employs quantitative data collected through an online questionnaire of 416 respondents. Data analysis utilizes Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The results of this study indicate that all constructs influenced consumer behavioral intention, with the most dominant influence being the attitude variable affecting the behavioral intention to use online food delivery applications. The findings emphasize the significance of integrating the online food delivery system (OFDS) with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations and could prove advantageous to online meal delivery operators.

The quantitative research method was chosen and the questionnaire was used to collect data as a survey method. Structured questionnaire was used in this study. There were 265 respondents who were randomly included in the questionnaires conducted by the researcher. The data was analyzed using Google form and questionnaire. The data collected was analyzed by using Statistical Packages for Social Science Version 25 (SPSS Version 25) software based on descriptive analysis, reliability analysis, and correlation analysis. As for the result, all of the independent variables (attitudes, time saving, and promotion) that had been studied in this research had significant relationships towards dependent variable (consumer behavior). The result of the research objectives which is to examine the relationship between attitudes, time saving and promotion that influencing consumer behavior towards Online Food Delivery.

Abstract:Technology and non-technology factors in OFD service contribute to attitude development and behavioral intentions even when the core service (food) is not undertaken by the service provider. We examine the role of app design, personality, social influence and service quality factors in developing Brand Image and fostering Brand Love. Conceptualized as higher order constructs, we find that app design factor demonstrates a strong effect on brand image. Service quality, personality factors and social influence factors show relatively weaker effects in developing brand image. We found support for Brand Image completely mediating the relationship between app design, service quality factors and Brand Love. Personality and social factors engender Brand Love directly. App Design emerged as a significant factor across gender and age groups. Pathway to development of Brand Image and Brand Love are different for younger and older age groups. We discuss theoretical contribution and managerial implications based on the results.

Abstract:In recent times, a growing trend has been noticed in the usage of online food delivery services. With the increased usage of technology, every industry is being re-shaped, to better serve the needs of customers, who are the kings of the market. Businesses which are regularly upgraded in order to meet the evolving expectations of customers are those that can succeed in the long run. It is not the technology behind the services provided, rather it is the experience provided to the consumer using real food technology. With this in the background, it should be noted that even customers who had previously preferred to purchase food through offline means, are now turning to online food delivery Apps to make their purchases. The dining out culture is now being transformed into the eating in culture. And this trend is observed to be prominent among youth (15 – 34), especially in the metropolitan cities where there are constant traffic jams and the heavy population density, which results in even short distance travelling being a highly time - consuming process. The resultant effect is that a greater number of Indian households are being seen turning to online food delivery services as an easier and more convenient alternative. As the usage of food delivery Apps grows in the metropolitan cities in India, a growing trend is also being seen in smaller cities. It has therefore become a necessity for online food delivery service providers to identify the preferences and perceptions of consumers to enable them to meet their expectations. Through this study the historical background, current scenario and possible future developments are analyzed in order to help online food delivery services develop better strategies to improve sales and increase the customer base.
