Abstract:Short non-coding RNAs called microRNAs (miRNAs) control gene expression by either inhibiting translation or degrading messenger RNA. MiRNAs are crucial for many biological functions, and the deregulation of their expression is strongly linked to the emergence of cancer. A single miRNA controls several gene expressions, allowing it to simultaneously control a number of cellular signaling pathways. As a result, miRNAs may be used as therapeutic targets as well as biomarkers for the prognosis and diagnosis of different cancers. Recent research has shown that natural compounds like curcumin, resveratrol and quercetin exert their pro-apoptotic and/or anti-proliferative impacts by modulating one and/or more miRNAs, which inhibits the growth of cancer cells, induces apoptosis, or increases the effectiveness of conventional cancer therapies. Here, we summarize the most recent developments in curcumin's control over the expression of miRNAs and emphasize the significance of these herbal remedies as a viable strategy in the treatment and prevention of cancer.

Abstract:Ovarian cancer (OCa) is characterized as one of the common reasons for cancer-associated death in women globally. This gynecological disorder is chiefly named the "silent killer" due to lacking an association between disease manifestations in the early stages and OCa. Because of the disease recurrence and resistance to common therapies, discovering an effective therapeutic way against the disease is a challenge. According to documents, some popular herbal formulations, such as curcumin, quercetin, and resveratrol, can serve as an anti-cancer agent through different mechanisms. However, these herbal products may be accompanied by some pharmacological limitations, such as poor bioavailability, instability, and weak water solubility. On the contrary, using nano-based material, e.g., nanoparticles (NPs), micelles, liposomes, can significantly solve these limitations. Therefore, in the present study, we will summarize the anti-cancer aspects of these herbal and-nano-based herbal formulations with a focus on their mechanisms against OCa.

Abstract:Ovarian cancer (OC) poses a significant health risk to women worldwide, with late diagnoses and chemotherapy resistance leading to high mortality rates. Despite several histological subtypes, the primary challenge remains the subtle nature of its symptoms, resulting in advanced-stage diagnosis and reduced treatment success rates. With platinum-based therapies showing relative efficacy but limited survival enhancements, the emergence of chemotherapy resistance during recurrence remains a critical obstacle. Precision medicine development has aimed to address these challenges in the context of the molecular diversity of OC. The present review explored the landscape of microRNA (miRNA)-mediated approaches in OC treatment. miRNAs have emerged as regulators of gene expression, serving as both oncogenes and tumor suppressors in OC. Dysregulated miRNAs are associated with disease progression and chemotherapy resistance, underscoring their significance in diagnosis and tailored treatment strategies. The present review extracted 295 publications from the PUBMED database. Out of the 73 eligible studies, 55 miRNAs were assessed. A total of three of these miRNAs were not associated with any disease or cancer, whilst eight were associated with OC, albeit also associated with other diseases. The present review encompassed three dimensions: i) The role of miRNAs in treatment efficacy; ii) the use of miRNAs to enhance therapy outcomes; and iii) adjunctive strategies for improved treatment results. Furthermore, it offered insights into potential avenues for improving OC treatment using miRNA-based approaches.

Abstract:One of the main health issues that can affect women's health is reproductive diseases, such as polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), endometriosis (EMs), uterine leiomyomas (ULs), and ovarian cancer (OC). Although these diseases are very common, we do not have a complete understanding of their underlying cellular and molecular mechanisms. It is important to mention that the majority of patients are diagnosed with these diseases at later stages because of the absence of early diagnostic techniques and dependable molecular indicators. Hence, it is crucial to discover novel and non-invasive biomarkers that have prognostic, diagnostic and therapeutic capabilities. MiRNAs, also known as microRNAs, are small non-coding RNAs that play a crucial role in regulating gene expression at the post-transcriptional level. They are short in length, typically consisting of around 22 nucleotides, and are highly conserved across species. Numerous studies have shown that miRNAs are expressed differently in various diseases and can act as either oncogenes or tumor suppressors.

Abstract:Ovarian cancer is the most deadly malignancy among women, but its complex pathogenesis is unknown. Most patients with ovarian cancer have a poor prognosis due to high recurrence rates and chemotherapy resistance as well as the lack of effective early diagnostic methods. The tumor microenvironment mainly includes extracellular matrix, CAFs, tumor angiogenesis and immune-associated cells. The interaction between tumor cells and TME plays a key role in tumorigenesis, progression, metastasis and treatment, affecting tumor progression. Therefore, it is significant to find new tumor biomarkers and therapeutic targets. MicroRNAs are non-coding RNAs that post-transcriptionally regulate the expression of target genes and affect a variety of biological processes. Studies have shown that miRNAs regulate tumor development by affecting TME. In this review, we summarize the mechanisms by which miRNAs affect ovarian cancer by regulating TME and highlight the key role of miRNAs in TME, which provides new targets and theoretical basis for ovarian cancer treatment.

Abstract:Introduction : 70% of breast cancer patients have an active estrogen receptor. Tamoxifen illustrates this therapy, interfering with estrogen's ability to bind to cancer cells. The most challenging aspect of Tamoxifen, however, is that breast cancer cells become resistant to its effects. Some studies have shown that alterations in miRNA expression contribute significantly to drug resistance in breast cancer. Therefore, the present systematic review aims to investigate miRNAs that significantly influence the response to tamoxifen treatment. Material and Methods : The present study follows the PRISMA instructions. The Web of Science, PubMed, and Scopus databases were searched to retrieve English articles. The searches were conducted up to September 11, 2022. The search strategy included the terms "Tamoxifen", "Breast Neoplasm" and "MicroRNA". The inclusion criteria of this study are English, original, and experimental studies investigating miRNAs that are effective in the treatment efficacy of Tamoxifen. Results : A total of 565 articles were retrieved. After screening, 75 studies met our inclusion criteria. This systematic review study examined 105 miRNAs, of which 44 have a positive effect, and 47 miRNAs inhibit tamoxifen function. Fourteen miRNAs have a controversial effect, i.e., some studies show positive and negative effects. Conclusion : The study of miRNAs affecting tamoxifen function in breast cancer patients may facilitate the identification of individuals at higher risk of disease recurrence. Conversely, it can potentially utilize appropriate interventions to defeat drug resistance effectively.

Abstract:MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are small non-coding RNA molecules that play pivotal roles in regulating gene expression and have been implicated in the pathogenesis of numerous cancers. miRNA-3652, though relatively less explored, has recently emerged as a potential key player in ovarian cancer's molecular landscape. This review aims to delineate the functional significance and tumor progression role of miRNA-3652 in ovarian cancer, shedding light on its potential as both a diagnostic biomarker and therapeutic target. A comprehensive literature search was carried out using established databases, the focus was on articles that reported the role of miRNA-3652 in ovarian cancer, encompassing mechanistic insights, functional studies, and its association with clinical outcomes. This updated review highlighted that miRNA-3652 is intricately involved in ovarian cancer cell proliferation, migration, and invasion, its dysregulation was linked to altered expression of critical genes involved in tumor growth and metastasis; furthermore, miRNA-3652 expression levels were found to correlate with clinical stages, prognosis, and response to therapy in ovarian cancer patients. miRNA-3652 holds significant promise as a vital molecular player in ovarian cancer's pathophysiology. Its functional role and impact on tumor progression make it a potential candidate for diagnostic and therapeutic applications in ovarian cancer. Given the pivotal role of miRNA-3652 in ovarian cancer, future studies should emphasize in-depth mechanistic explorations, utilizing advanced genomic and proteomic tools. Collaboration between basic scientists and clinicians will be vital to translating these findings into innovative diagnostic and therapeutic strategies, ultimately benefiting ovarian cancer patients.

Abstract:MiRNAs are a large group of non-coding RNAs which participate in different cellular pathways like inflammation and oxidation through transcriptional, post-transcriptional, and epigenetic regulation. In the post-transcriptional regulation, miRNA interacts with the 3′-UTR of mRNAs and prevents their translation. This prevention or dysregulation can be a cause of pathological conditions like diabetic complications. A huge number of studies have revealed the association between miRNAs and diabetic complications, including diabetic nephropathy, cardiomyopathy, neuropathy, retinopathy, and delayed wound healing. To address this issue, recent studies have focused on the use of polyphenols as selective and safe drugs in the treatment of diabetes complications. In this article, we will review the involvement of miRNAs in diabetic complications' occurrence or development. Finally, we will review the latest findings on targeting miRNAs by polyphenols like curcumin, resveratrol, and quercetin for diabetic complications therapy.

It is the leading cause of death among gynecological cancers owing to its metastasis. In this vein, microRNAs, which are short sequence non-coding molecules, displayed great potential as highly specific and sensitive biomarker. miRNAs have been extensively advocated and proven to serve an instrumental part in the clinical management of cancer, especially ovarian cancer, by promoting the cancer cell progression, invasion, delayed apoptosis, epithelial-mesenchymal transition, metastasis of cancer cells, chemosensitivity and resistance and disease therapy. Here, we cover our present comprehension of the most up-to-date microRNA-based approaches to detect ovarian cancer, as well as current diagnostic and treatment strategies, the role of microRNAs as oncogenes or tumor suppressor genes, and their significance in ovarian cancer progression, prognosis, and therapy.

Abstract:Abstract Ovarian cancer is known as a serious malignancy that affects women’s reproductive tract and can considerably threat their health. A wide range of molecular mechanisms and genetic modifications have been involved in ovarian cancer pathogenesis making it difficult to develop effective therapeutic platforms. Hence, discovery and developing new therapeutic approaches are required. Medicinal plants, as a new source of drugs, could potentially be used alone or in combination with other medicines in the treatment of various cancers such as ovarian cancer. Among various natural compounds, quercetin has shown great anti-cancer and anti-inflammatory properties. In vitro and in vivo experiments have revealed that quercetin possesses a cytotoxic impact on ovarian cancer cells. Despite obtaining good results both in vitro and in vivo, few clinical studies have assessed the anti-cancer effects of quercetin particularly in the ovarian cancer. Therefore, it seems that further clinical studies may introduce quercetin as therapeutic agent alone or in combination with other chemotherapy drugs to the clinical setting. Here, we not only summarize the anti-cancer effects of quercetin but also highlight the therapeutic effects of quercetin in the ovarian cancer.

Abstract:when TEWL is used with patch test readings, the skin temperature varies only within a few degrees. The use of a converting factor is therefore only relevant under special conditions, such as those in the fish processing industry and related industries. Fig. I nicely demonstrates that correction for skin temperature differences within ± 2 oc is unnecessary. Finally, converting TEWL among workers in the fish processing industry to a common reference temperature of30°C, we found that TEWL on the fingers ofworkers in the fish processing industry was significantly higher (p<O.Ol) than in normal controls.

Abstract:Background Plant polyphenols have shown promising applications in oncotherapy. Increasing evidence reveals that polyphenols possess the antitumor potential for multiple cancers. Non-coding RNAs (ncRNAs), mainly including small ncRNAs (microRNA) and long ncRNAs (lncRNAs), play critical roles in cancer initiation and progression. Purpose To establish the modulation of ncRNAs by polyphenols as a novel and promising approach in anticancer treatment. Study design The present research employed ncRNA, miRNA, lncRNA, and regulatory mechanism as keywords to retrieve the literature from PubMed, Web of Science, Science direct, and Google Scholar, in a 20-year period from 2003 to 2023. This study critically reviewed the current literature and presented the regulation of prominent ncRNAs by polyphenols. A comprehensive total of 169 papers were retrieved on polyphenols and their related ncRNAs in cancers. Results NcRNAs, mainly including miRNA and lncRNA, play critical roles in cancer initiation and progression, which are potential modulatory targets of bioactive polyphenols, such as resveratrol, genistein, curcumin, EGCG, quercetin, in cancer management. The mechanism involved in polyphenol-mediated ncRNA regulation includes epigenetic and transcriptional modification, and post-transcriptional processing. Conclusion Regulatory ncRNAs are potential therapeutic targets of bioactive polyphenols, and these phytochemicals could modulate the level of these ncRNAs directly and indirectly. A better comprehension of the ncRNA regulation by polyphenols in cancers, their functional outcomes on tumor pathophysiology and regulatory molecular mechanisms, may be helpful to develop effective strategies to fight the devastating disease.

Abstract:Oral cancer (OC) is a significant global health issue, with high rates of both mortality and morbidity. Conventional treatments, including surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy, are commonly used, but they often come with serious side effects and may not fully eliminate cancer cells, resulting in recurrence and resistance to treatment. In recent years, natural products derived from plants and other biological sources have gained attention for their potential anticancer properties. These compounds offer advantages such as lower toxicity compared to traditional chemotherapy. Notable natural compounds like quercetin, berberine, curcumin, andrographolide, nimbolide, ovatodiolide, and cucurbitacin B have demonstrated effectiveness in inhibiting OC cell growth by targeting various signaling pathways involved in cancer progression. Recent breakthroughs in molecular biology have highlighted the crucial role of microRNAs (miRNAs) in the development of OC. Targeting dysregulated miRNAs with natural products offers a promising strategy for treating the disease. Natural compounds exert anticancer effects by influencing both altered cellular signaling pathways and miRNA expression profiles. This study aims to explore the role of miRNAs as potential molecular targets in OC and to investigate how natural products may regulate these miRNAs. Additionally, this review will shed light on the therapeutic potential of phytochemicals in modulating miRNA expression and their significance in OC treatment.

Interplay Between the MicroRNA miR-152 and Quercetin in the Control of Ovarian Granulosa Cell Functions

Abstract:In the present study, we examined the functional interrelationships between microRNAs and plant polyphenols in the regulation of ovarian cell functions. For this purpose, we compared the basic functions of porcine ovarian granulosa cells with or without transfection with miR-152 mimics that were cultured with or without quercetin. The expression levels of miR-152, cell viability, cell proliferation (accumulation of proliferating cell nuclear antigen, PCNA), apoptosis (accumulation of Bax) and the release of progesterone, estradiol, and insulin-like growth factor I (IGF-I) were analyzed by real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT‒qPCR), the Trypan blue exclusion test, quantitative immunocytochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays (ELISAs). Transfection of cells with miR-152 mimics increased miR-152 expression, reduced cell viability, proliferation, apoptosis, and estradiol output, and promoted the release of progesterone and IGF-I. Quercetin decreased all measured parameters. Moreover, quercetin promoted the effect of miR-152 on cell viability, apoptosis, and estradiol and mitigated the effect of miR-152 on cell proliferation and IGF-I output. For instance, miR-152 mimics promoted the effect of quercetin on cell viability, apoptosis, and estradiol but prevented the effect of quercetin on PCNA. These observations demonstrated the involvement of miR-152 and quercetin in the control of ovarian cell functions and their functional interrelationships, mainly synergism, in the regulation of these functions.

These small, non-coding RNAs could inhibit target gene expression by binding to the 3′ untranslated region of target mRNA, resulting in either mRNA degradation or inhibition of translation. miRNAs play important roles in many normal biological processes; however, studies have also shown that aberrant miRNA expression is correlated with the development and progression of cancers. The miRNAs could have oncogenic or tumor suppressor activities. Moreover, some miRNAs could regulate formation of cancer stem cells and epithelial-mesenchymal transition phenotype of cancer cells which are typically drug resistant. Furthermore, miRNAs could be used as biomarkers for diagnosis and prognosis, and thus miRNAs are becoming emerging targets for cancer therapy. Recent studies have shown that natural agents including curcumin, isoflavone, indole-3-carbinol, 3,3′-diindolylmethane, (-)-epigallocatechin-3-gallate, resveratrol, etc. could alter miRNA expression profiles, leading to the inhibition of cancer cell growth, induction of apoptosis, reversal of epithelial-mesenchymal transition, or enhancement of efficacy of conventional cancer therapeutics. These emerging results clearly suggest that specific targeting of miRNAs by natural agents could open newer avenues for complete eradication of tumors by killing the drug-resistant cells to improve survival outcome in patients diagnosed with malignancies.

Abstract:Premature ovarian failure is a to some extent unknown and intricate problem with diverse causes and clinical manifestations. The lack of ovarian sex hormones presumably is effective in the occurrence of ovarian failure. Our progress in this field has been very little despite undertaken scientific research endeavors; scholars still are trying to understand the explanation of this dilemmatic medical condition. In contrast, the practice of clinical medicine has made meaningful strides in providing assurance to the women with premature ovarian insufficiency that their quality of life as well as long-term health can be optimized through timely intervention. Very recently Scientists have investigated the regulating effects of small RNA molecules on steroidogenesis apoptosis, ovulation, gonadal, and corpus luteum development of ovaries. In this literature review, we tried to talk over the mechanisms of miRNAs in regulating gene expression after transcription in the ovary.

Abstract:Ovarian cancer (OC) is still the leading cause of death among all gynecological malignancies, despite the recent progress in cancer therapy. Immune escape and drug resistance, especially platinum-based chemotherapy, are significant factors causing disease progression, recurrence and poor prognosis in OC patients. MicroRNAs(miRNAs) are small noncoding RNAs, regulating gene expression at the transcriptional level. Accumulating evidence have indicated their crucial roles in platinum resistance. Importantly, they also act as mediators of tumor immune escape/evasion. In this review, we summarize the recent study of miRNAs involved in platinum resistance of OC and systematically analyses miRNAs involved in the regulation of OC immune escape. Further understanding of miRNAs roles and their possible mechanisms in platinum resistance and tumor escape may open new avenues for improving OC therapy.

Abstract:The association of vitamin C with tissue growth and physiologic activity raises the question of its relative importance in the growth and maintenance of neoplastic cells. A review of the previously reported observations on this subject has been made by Minor and Ramirez in connection with their studies in the utilization of vitamin C by cancer patients. They found that in 7 normal persons, in 1 patient with than in the normal tissues.
