Abstract:Regular abelian semigroups are isomorphic to a direct product of an abelian group and a rectangular band (Warne, 1994). Seeking for a similar result for nilpotency, solvability and supernilpotency of regular semigroups, we obtain that analogous statement is true only in orthodox semigroups. We provide an example that shows that the same does not have to be true in regular semigroups that are not orthodox.

Abstract:Let $p$ be a prime and let $G$ be a finite group such that the smallest prime that divides $|G|$ is $p$. We find sharp bounds, depending on $p$, for the commuting probability and the average character degree to guarantee that $G$ is nilpotent or supersolvable.

Abstract:Given a lattice $\mathbb{L}$ and a class $K$ of algebraic structures, we say that $\mathbb{L}$ \emph{forces nilpotency} in $K$ if every algebra $\mathbf{A} \in K$ whose congruence lattice $\mathrm{Con} (\mathbf{A})$ is isomorphic to $\mathbb{L}$ is nilpotent. We describe congruence lattices that force nilpotency, supernilpotency or solvability for some classes of algebras. For this purpose, we investigate which commutator operations can exist on a given congruence lattice.

Abstract:In this paper, we establish a converse to Schur's theorem for Lie superalgebras $ L $, focusing on cases where the minimal generator number pairs $(p \vert q)$ of $ L/Z(L) $ are considered, and where the superdimension $ \mathrm{sdim} L^{2} $ is finite. We introduce a new invariant $ st(L) $, which plays a key role in the classification of finite-dimensional nilpotent Lie superalgebras. Specifically, we classify the structure of all such Lie superalgebras $ L $ when $ st(L) \in \{(0,0), (1,0), (0,1), (2,0), (0,2), (1,1)\} $.

On generic properties of nilpotent algebras

Abstract:We study general nilpotent algebras. The results obtained are new even for the classical algebras, such as associative or Lie algebras. We single out certain generic properties of finite-dimensional algebras, mostly over infinite fields. The notion of being generic in the class of $n$-generated algebras of an arbitrary primitive class of $c$-nilpotent algebras appears naturally in the following way. On the set of the isomorphism classes of such algebras one can introduce the structure of an algebraic variety. As a result, the subsets are endowed with the dimensions as algebraic varieties. A subset $Y$ of a set $X$ of lesser dimension can be viewed as negligible in $X$. For example, if $n\gg c$, we determine that an automorphism group of a generic algebra $P$ consists of the automorphisms, which are scalar modulo $P^2$. Generic ideals are in $I(P)$, the annihilator of $P$. In the case of classical nilpotent algebras as above, the generic algebras are graded by the degrees with respect to some generating sets.

Abstract:The circuit equivalence problem of a finite algebra $\mathbf A$ is the computational problem of deciding whether two circuits over $\mathbf A$ define the same function or not. This problem not just generalises the equivalence problem for Boolean circuits, but is also of high interest in universal algebra, as it models the problems of checking identities in $\mathbf A$. In this paper we discuss the complexity for algebras from congruence modular varieties. A partial classification was already given by Idziak and Krzaczkowski, leaving essentially only a gap for nilpotent but not supernilpotent algebras. We start a systematic study of this open case, proving that the circuit equivalence problem is in P for $2$-nilpotent such algebras.

Abstract:This paper starts by showing that for algebras in a certain class the concepts of weak nilpotency and nilpotency coincide. It goes on to describe some solvability and nilpotency properties of bicommutative algebras, of assosymmetric and of Novikov algebras and to introduce a Frattini theory for all of them. A description is also given for semisimple bicommutative algebras over any field.

Abstract:The subpower membership problem SMP(A) of a finite algebraic structure A asks whether a given partial function from A^k to A can be interpolated by a term operation of A, or not. While this problem can be EXPTIME-complete in general, Willard asked whether it is always solvable in polynomial time if A is a Mal'tsev algebras. In particular, this includes many important structures studied in abstract algebra, such as groups, quasigroups, rings, Boolean algebras. In this paper we give an affirmative answer to Willard's question for a big class of 2-nilpotent Mal'tsev algebras. We furthermore develop tools that might be essential in answering the question for general nilpotent Mal'tsev algebras in the future.

Abstract:Let $L$ be an $(m\vert n)$-dimensional nilpotent Lie superalgebra where $m + n \geq 4$ and $n \geq 1$. This paper classifies such nilpotent Lie superalgebras $L$ with a derived subsuperalgebra of dimension $m+n-2$ such that $\gamma(L) = m + 2n - 2 - \dim \mathcal{M}(L)$, where $\gamma(L) \in \{0, 1, 2\}$ and $\mathcal{M}(L)$ denotes the Schur multiplier of $L$. Furthermore, we show that all these superalgebras are capable.

Abstract:In this paper we investigate nilpotenct and probabilistically nilpotent Hopf algebras. We define nilpotency via a descending chain of commutators and give a criterion for nilpotency via a family of central invertible elements. These elements can be obtained from a {\it commutator matrix} $A$ which depends only on the Grothendieck ring of $H.$ When $H$ is almost cocommutative we introduce a probabilistic method. We prove that every semisimple quasitriangular Hopf algebra is probabilistically nilpotent. In a sense we thereby answer the title of our paper {\it Are we counting or measuring anything?} by {\it Yes we are}.

Abstract:A basic fact taught in undergraduate algebra courses is that every finite nilpotent group is a direct product of $p$-groups. Already Bruck observed that this does not generalize to loops. In particular, there exist nilpotent loops of size $6$ which are not direct products of loops of size $2$ and $3$. Still we show that for every finite nilpotent loop $(A,\cdot)$ there exists a binary term operation $*$ such that $(A,*)$ is a direct product of nilpotent loops of prime power order, i.e., $(A,*)$ is supernilpotent.

Abstract:Leibniz superalgebras with nilindex $n + m$ and characteristic sequence $(n-1, 1 \ | \ m)$ divided into four parametric classes that contain a set of non-isomorphic superalgebras. In this paper, we give a complete classification of solvable Leibniz superalgebras whose nilradical is a nilpotent Leibniz superalgebra with nilindex $n + m$ and characteristic sequence $(n-1, 1 \ | \ m)$. We obtain a condition for the value of parameters of the classes of such nilpotent superalgebras for which they have a solvable extension. Moreover, the classification of solvable Leibniz superalgebras whose nilradical is a Lie superalgebra with the maximal nilindex is given.

Abstract:Throughout the current paper, we extend the study of Zinbiel algebras to Zinbiel superalgebras. In particular, we show that all the Zinbiel superalgebras over an arbitrary field are nilpotent in the same way as occurs for Zinbiel algebras. Moreover and since the most important cases of nilpotent algebras or superalgebras are those with maximal nilpotency index, we study the complex null-filiform Zinbiel superalgebra, i.e. the only one single generated, proving that is unique up to isomorphism. After that, we characterise the naturally graded filiform ones and obtain low-dimensional classifications.
