Abstract:Home automation systems have attracted considerable attention with the advancement of communications technology. A smart home (SH) is an Internet of Things (IoT) application that utilizes the Internet to monitor and control appliances using a home automation system. Lack of IoT technology usage, unfriendly user interface, limited wireless transmission range, and high costs are the limitations of existing home automation systems. Therefore, this study presents a cost-effective and hybrid (local and remote) IoT-based home automation system with a user-friendly interface for smartphones and laptops. A prototype called IoT@HoMe is developed with an algorithm to enable the monitoring of home conditions and automate the control of home appliances over the Internet anytime and anywhere. This system utilizes a node microcontroller unit (NodeMCU) as a Wi-Fi-based gateway to connect different sensors and updates their data to Adafruit IO cloud server. The collected data from several sensors (radio-frequency identification, ultrasonic, temperature, humidity, gas, and motion sensors) can be accessed via If This Then That (IFTTT) on users' devices (smartphones and/or laptops) over the Internet regardless of their location. A set of relays is used to connect the NodeMCU to homes under controlled appliances. The designed system is structured in a portable manner as a control box that can be attached for monitoring and controlling a real house. The proposed IoT-based system for home automation can easily and efficiently control appliances over the Internet and support home safety with autonomous operation. IoT@HoMe is a low cost and reliable automation system that reduces energy consumption and can notably provide convenience, safety, and security for SH residents.

Abstract:The primary objective of this home automation study is to facilitate the implementation of a voice-controlled capabilities, primarily designed to assist individuals with disabilities or seniors. The system presented in this research enables wireless control of various household devices, such as lights, fans, and any electrical appliances through a dedicated mobile application. This voice-controlled home automation system leverages an android smartphone and a microcontroller using an android application to manage household appliances. The system can be accessed by user name and password. This system is designed with three main control interfaces such as Bluetooth connectivity, voice recognition, and manual control switching. The google cloud speech API which can convert spoken words into text is utilized for voice recognition. This generated text is then transmitted to the designated slave device, facilitating home automation through Bluetooth communication. Additionally, the system provides a manual control switch for user convenience. To control high-voltage appliances safely, an enhanced microcontroller is employed, incorporating a relay circuit for ON/OFF functionality. The developed prototype, encompassing both hardware and software components, has undergone comprehensive testing, validating its security features and compatibility with various home appliances. This innovative home automation system not only offers enhanced convenience but also prioritizes security, providing an attractive alternative to commercial solutions.

Recent years have witnessed significant advancements in home automation driven by wireless technologies. Among these, the IEEE 802.15.4 standard, RF, stands out for its low data rate, extended battery lif e, and secure networking capabilities. Abstract:The Internet of Things (IoT) has emerged as a prominent technological opportunity, offering numerous professional prospects. It revolves around establishing wireless communication standards between devices and appliances to enhance daily human life. This particular project aims to create a secure and automated home environment by monitoring and controlling various home appliances using Wi-Fi as the primary communication protocol. Traditionally, wireless communication techniques like Wi-Fi and Bluetooth have been utilized for home automation. However, these methods have limitations such as short range and high costs. To overcome these challenges, this paper proposes the techniques of comfy home automation involve the efficient management of appliances like lights and fans, which not only provide convenience but also save time, reduce the need for manual intervention, enhance home security, and send SMS alerts to the owner in case of fire accidents or gas leakages through a dedicated mobile application. Additionally, it aims to train the virtual assistant to engage in enjoyable interactions with the homeowner, further enhancing the user experience. To implement this, this work utilizes the "NodeMCUESP8266" module, which will serve as the foundation for our system. The integration of this technology will prove especially beneficial for individuals who are physically challenged, elderly, or frequently away from home due to their busy schedules. By leveraging the power of IoT and mobile applications, this paper suggests a smart home automation solution that caters to the specific needs and preferences of homeowners, ultimately enhancing their quality of life.

Abstract:Recently, home automation system has getting significant attention because of the fast and advanced technology, making daily living more convenient. Almost everything has been digitalized and automated. The development of home automation will become easier and more popular because of the use of the Internet of Things (IoT). This paper described various interconnection systems of actuators, sensors to enable multiple home automation implementations. The system is known as HAS (Home automation system). It operates by connecting the robust Application Programming Interface (API), which is the key to a universal communication method. The HAS used devices, often implemented the actuators or sensors that have an upwards communication network followed by HAS (API). Most of the devices of the HAS (home automation system) used Raspberry Pi boards and ESP8285 chips. A smartphone application has been developed that allows users to control a wide range of home appliances and sensors from their smartphones. The application is user-friendly, adaptable, and beneficial for consumers and disabled people. It has the potential to be further extended via the use of various devices. The main objectives of this work are to make our home automation system, more secure and intelligent. HAS is a highly effective and efficient computational system that may be enhanced with a variety of devices and add-ons.

Abstract:Smart Home System involves controlling home appliances using the Internet of Things (IoT) allowing us to have a user-friendly home automation system. It allows us to auto control electronic appliances in the house such as fans, lights, gates, doors, windows, and many more including security access systems and alarm systems. In this paper, we have implemented the operation of lights through the voice-controlled home automation system by giving voice commands as an input to the system for the user to turn ON and turn OFF the lights at home. The system mainly uses the Raspberry Pi module, which happens to be an important component of our smart light system implementation. It consists of both hardware and software components, which have a speech recognition module implemented using Natural Language Processing (NLP) and has voice commands that can be understood, and accordingly, lights can be operated with its usage. It has a special feature that when the light gets turned ON or OFF, it will be ensured to the user through an audio output by the speaker. The main working of a voice-automated system depends on the recognition of the voice given by the user as an input. Raspberry Pi module keeps all electrical home appliances connected through a single interface for complete smart home system automation. Today’s modern world is shifting from conventional switches to centralized control systems with less human intervention, as result, the use of manual operating switches is slowly deteriorating. In this paper, we have used voice recognition for operating the home appliances where there is no need to use the conventional switches, and hence human effort required for the system is comparatively very less. Research work on smart home systems mainly aims to satisfy the needs, which help elderly and disabled people etc. in operating home appliances without any helping support from others. The main purpose of our paper is to build a perfect smart home-helper for the users to operate the home appliances easily through voice commands.

Abstract:This work providing a smart home concept, teach intelligent home techniques and smart grid appearance. The main applications of various home automation technologies and future improvements, as well as the different concept of energy conservation in the field of smart home. The proposed system integrates many functions and automation devices for many home applications in one application and this is easy to use for monitoring and control from the user using a computer or smartphone via the Internet. The sensors used in this work are: Temperature sensor: to provide an indication of the temperature and to know the customer if necessary to turn the air conditioning on or off, manually or automatically resulting in reduced energy consumption. Humidity Sensor Used to provide an indicator of humidity in garden watering by turning off or turning on the water valve, which can be set manually or automatically to save water at a high level and also protect garden plants from thirst or excessive water. Motion sensor: to control the outside and inside home lighting by ON OFF the light only if the human is detected, this done by using special algorithm. The gain in energy keeping is high percentage. The motion sensor was used to control the movement and recording of the camera by ON OFF, while detecting human movement only, and this is done using a special algorithm. This process facilitates monitoring and reduces the storage process for cameras only when needed. All these procedures of the proposed smart home system are combined with the Internet of Things (IoT), Webbing and Clouding through sensors and actuators controlling the home appliances by using Raspberry-Bi 3B+ platform. Sharing the data and networking smart sensors by using Wi-Fi technology. The Cloud computing services used to facilitate interactions process with smart devices. Moreover, Cisco Packet Tracer program used to simulate all the above process.

Abstract:Home automation system has achieved an enormous reputation in recent years, as day-to-day life is getting simpler due to the speedy growth of modern technology. Various implemented systems have been offered in the sphere of Home Automation but have apparently failed to provide cost-effective solutions for the same. In this paper, we provide a low-cost smart Home Automation and Security System (HASS) using Wireless Fidelity (Wi-Fi), and Bluetooth. These materialize the concept of internetworking of smart devices. A Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) based on Wi-Fi is considered to monitor and control the smart environment, safety as well as electrical parameters of a smart interconnected home. The Android application-based Graphical User Interface (GUI) on a Smartphone is used to give facility to users for seamless control over the devices in a smart home. It may also consist of home security for example access control and alarm systems. When connected to the Internet, home devices are an important element of the Internet of Things (IoT). Home security includes both the security hardware placed on a property and individuals' personal security practices. Security devices consist of a door locking, alert alarm, lighting, motion detectors, and security camera system. Additionally, several special features include such as ensuring windows are closed, each door is locked, all alarms are activated, and extra keys are not secret outside.

Abstract:In the fast-paced life of the 21st century, computerization plays a crucial part in mortal life. Home computerization allows us to control home electrical appliances like lights, doors, AC, etc. It also provides home security and allows an emergency system to be activated. Home computerization refers to not only reducing fatal attempts but also increasing energy efficiency and saving time. The main idea of home computerization and security is to help handicapped and elderly people by enabling them to control home appliances and warn them in critical situations. This design focuses on the implementation of home robotization and security systems using an Arduino microprocessor and an Android smartphone. Home appliances are connected to the microprocessor, and communication is entrenched between the Arduino and an Android mobile device or tablet via the Bluetooth module. Abstract:Recent advances in smartphones and remote monitoring based on the Internet of Things (IoT) have enabled improved multidimensional intelligent services. The advent of IoT-based wearable and multimedia sensors has prevented millions of mishaps through seamless and systematic monitoring. An IoT-based monitoring system is composed of several sensor devices to measure vital signs, fall detection, energy consumption, and visual recognition. As the data collected by the sensors are transmitted to cloud storage through the Internet, data security is a major concern when transmitting data from remote locations. To improve data security and prediction accuracy, in this study, we proposed a smart and secure multimedia IoT monitoring system for smart homes backed up by smart grid supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA). The proposed system employs state-of-the-art IoT microcontrollers and hardware devices and integrates them in a manner that significantly affects the accuracy and speed of the entire system. Furthermore, the information gathered from IoT is securely transferred through private channels and stored on the cloud, which can be accessed authentically and reliably using an information system built into an IoT application. The output was extensively compared in terms of power consumption and delivery ratio, which were based on the values collected with sequence numbers. The comparative analysis demonstrated that the proposed approach provides increased prediction accuracy and better security. Hence, the proposed power-efficient prototype model monitors the entire smart home environment in real time and serves as an early warning system for critical situations.

Abstract:The escalating growth in automation industries and technologies has revealed astonishing opportunities for digitally controllable devices that can change the houses that we live into a smart home automation having wirelessly controlled smart appliance with the help of radio transmissions, Bluetooth, or over Internet, where the owner can access any device of his home from any location through mobile and can control the basic operations. Internet of Things (IoT)-based home electronic appliances control system which has been designed with the help of ESP8266-based NodeMCU IoT development board has been discussed in this article. The voice control system can command the basic operations like switching on and off any home electronic device from anywhere using Blynk application installed on the mobile phone, or it can be commanded over Google Assistant also. The model provides an affordable system for home automation by using the smart phones they already have. The voice-controlled automated homes will be able to make the life of differently abled persons. Voice-automated system can further be improved by using machine learning to detect the patterns of users to provide them better service by understanding their habits and provide them services without even asking daily.

Abstract:The world is full of automation and the people living in this world are surrounded with automated systems. Industries, business sectors, even homes are being automated. Operating various home appliances conveniently along with saving energy are the prominent factors possessed by Smart Home. A quick increase is seen in people's needs in order to develop the social economy of appliances present in a house. If we look at the existing system, we have Google home and Amazon echo which provide functionalities such as switching on/off appliances remotely from anywhere. This paper primarily focuses on a smart home system which allows users to control any electrical appliance using their smart phone google assistant. Apart from this the system also helps in keeping a track on air quality, sound and light intensity, temperature and humidity of home. It also provides analysis of the aforesaid parameters using various graphical methods. It starts the appliance itself on detecting human motion and notifies the user about the same so in case if there is an intrusion the user will come to know about the same. It also takes care of user’s safety as it informs about gas leakage and fire detection preventing any major damage. The need for integration is seen in society, as the idea of a Smart home system is still a new research area. Convenience, security, time management, and connectivity act as prominent factors to motivate and build a system like Smart Home. This paper hence provides a detailed inspection on the architecture, procedures, technologies required for a smart home system. The best protocols and technical solution acquired in the IOT Based Smart Home Assistant are discussed in the paper.

Abstract:The development of the Internet of Things (IoT) technology has a positive impact on human life. A smart home is one of the IoT technology applications that facilitate human activities. The problem of physical abnormalities is a matter of limited activities for disabled people. This paper proposes a design of IoT-based smart home application with a remote control device that developed using voice commands for disabled people. Smart home control systems help disabled people to control their home electrical devices such as television (TV), lights, and fans using only voice commands without moving to turn on or turn off electrical equipment. The voice recognition on electrical equipment is using the Google Assistant's application on smartphones. The Google Assistant application will accept voice commands when the pronunciation is correct. Voice commands on IoT-based Smart Home are more simple to apply, without typing text messages. Users get convenience compared to using text. The signal strength of an Internet connection will create a useful performance device at the Response Time of Google Assistant, Response Time of System Processing, activating and deactivating Electrical Equipment. We expect that this device could be more useful to help disabled people interact with their environment by utilizing IoT technology facilities.

Abstract:Generally, conventional home wiring system use simple latching switch that is being connected to the power supply for controlling electrical appliances such as fan, light, washing machine, air conditioner and television. The switch is usually located at the wall near the electrical appliance. This requires the user to move to the location of the switches to control the appliances. There is rapid increase in the number of people with special needs like the elderly and the disabled. Smart houses are considered a good alternative for the independent life of older persons and persons with disabilities. A smart home is a home that provides its residents the comfort, the convenience and the ease of operation of devices at all times, irrespective of where the resident actually is within the house. Smart Homes include devices that have automatic functions and systems that can be remotely controlled by the user. The primary objective of a smart house is to enhance comfort, energy saving, security for the residents and independent living of people at old age and people with disabilities. A low-cost prototype of a voice controlled smart home system controlling four devices by an Arduino microcontroller via a four-channel relay is presented. Voice control is one of the easiest methods to give input commands and is a more personalized form of control, since it can be adapted and customized to a particular speaker’s voice. Voice recognition is a computer software program embedded in a hardware device with the ability to decode the human voice. Most voice recognition systems require “training” (also called “enrolment”) where an individual speaker reads text or isolated vocabulary into the system. The system analyses the person’s specific voices and uses it to fine-tune the recognition of that person’s command. Upon successful recognition of the voice command, the microcontroller drives the corresponding load with the help of the relay circuit. Voice or Speech Processing has been applied successfully for the control of the supply of energy to home appliances.

A lot of research work is taking place to address the security issues in IoT Platform. To accomplish this, AWS IoT core has been used that allows connection of multiple devices on internet without the need of servers. Abstract:Wastage of electricity is one of the main problems which we are facing nowadays. In home and working areas, people will be engaged with too many activities. Sometimes, there might be a chance to forget to turn off various electrical appliances like lights, fans, servers, if there were nobody in the room or area/passage. This leads to huge power consumption. Also, it is very difficult to physically challenged persons and old-age people to access the appliances every time manually. To avoid all such situations, we proposed “Smart Home System.” It is the process of automating home appliances in which the various electric and electronic appliances are wired up to a central computer control system so they can be handled more efficiently. “Smart Home” helps to overcome the problems that usually people face in daily life. Behind this, it needs the involvement of multiple complex hardware components in controlling the smart home project and there is a fair amount of software architecture that is responsible for driving the hardware components. Moreover, there is a need to employ persons to monitor such simple tasks. This manual approach is time-consuming and also very costly. Thus, automation is the better alternative through which these tasks can be completed automatically without human effort and also accessed remotely from anywhere and anytime with less effort. Everyone is showing interest in making their home smarter to ease their daily activities. The proposed Smart Home system has the capability to control the home appliances based on the environment. Here, different boards like Raspberry Pi 3 and Arduino UNO are going to be deployed which can take control over the appliances and act accordingly. People can also be notified, if there are any fire/gas leakages inside the home. This security system facilitates the user to take necessary actions as soon as possible to secure their home. It also involves the deployment of different kinds of sensors which can able to detect the object motion, temperature and humidity and fire detection. This application is very simple and can be implemented in all types of homes.

Abstract:All individuals really need technology to accelerate development or enhance the development of both individuals and groups. A smart door lock is a feature embedded in a smart home to make everyday life easier. Given the importance of security for valuables stored in the house and the fact that security is required in accessing the house, the research was conducted with the goal of helping meet the needs of an easy-to-implement home security system. By utilizing the Raspberry Pi minicomputer as a processor, the webcam as a face detector, and Voice Command for detecting voice codes, which will then be processed by the Raspberry Pi using OpenCV to determine whether a human face is there or not, calculating the distance between facial features such as eyes, nose, and mouth as well as the code, the given vote is either true or false. After the face is recognized and the sound code is correct, the Raspberry Pi will issue an order to the servo to open the solenoid so that the home door can be accessed by the home owner, and there will be a message sent via telegram if someone tries to access this system. Based on the system tests that have been carried out, it turns out that the facial recognition system has an accuracy of 75%, a positive error of 25%, and a negative error of 0%, so it can be concluded that this system is safe enough to be applied in a home door security system.

Abstract:In recent time, internet has revolutionized the whole technology. It is acting as a backbone for the information technology. Subsequently, IoT has seen considerable development as internet became more common. Similarly, research is being carried out to make IoT applications more user friendly especially in web based and android technologies. Internet of thing gives an extensive control by enabling to control remotely the switching of electronics devices such as fan, water pump, cameras, TV etc. In this paper, an IoT based home automation system for remotely controlling the home equipment’s is proposed. We are using Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa to control and monitor the electrical appliances with voice command through internet which gives more space for controlling electrical appliances. In automations, things are automatically controlled usually the basic tasks of turning ON/OFF of devices. Here we can not only turn on/off basic devices but can also regulate the speed of fan by setting it at i.e. 30%, 60 and 100%. This makes our IoT based system more intelligent to control electronic devices both from within the home and outside the home as long as internet is available. This will help to reduce the wastage of electricity and save human energy.
