Abstract:Fluorescent nitrogen and sulfur co-doped carbon dots (NSCDs) were synthesized by a one-step pyrolysis strategy using casein as carbon, nitrogen and sulfur sources, and characterized by UVevis spectrum, fluorescent spectrum, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and FT-IR, etc. The synthesized NSCDs displayed a blue emission under ultraviolet illumination with a quantum yield of 31.8%, and a good aqueous solubility, photostability and biocompatibility. It was found that the fluorescence intensity of NSCDs could be selectively quenched by Hg2+, so NSCDs was used as an effective probe for the detection of Hg2+. The linear range and the limit of detection (LOD) of the fluorescent sensor based on NSCDs for the detection of Hg2+ were 0.01-0.25 mu M and 6.5 mu M, respectively. Spiked water samples were detected by the sensor with the recovery of 95.4-106.3% and relative standard deviation (RSD) of 3.6-8.6%. It was also observed that the quenched NSCDs-Hg2+ system could be restored by the addition of biothiols such as L-cysteine (Lcy), homocysteine (Hcy) and glutathione (GSH), thus NSCDs-Hg2+ system was employed as a fluorescent sensor for the detection of biothiols. The linear range and LOD of the NSCDs-Hg2+ system were 1-10 mM and 23.6 nM for Lcy, 0.2-2.5 mM and 12.3 nM for Hcy, and 0.1-2.0 mM and 16.8 nM for GSH, respectively. The NSCDs-Hg2+ system was applied for the detection of biothiols in serum samples with satisfied results. In addition, the study in vitro imaging HeLa cells revealed that the synthesized NSCDs could be used as effective fluorescent probes in cellular imaging without noticeable cytotoxicity. Strategy to synthesize long-wavelength emission carbon dots and their multifunctional application for pH variation and arginine sensing and bioimaging

Abstract:In this work, we designed N and S co-doped carbon dots ( N , S -CDs) with long-wavelength emission and their multifunctional application in pH variation, arginine (Arg) sensing, bioimaging in living cells and zebrafish, and fluorescent materials. The N , S -CDs with excitation wavelength-dependent properties were prepared using neutral red (NR) and dl -methionine (DL-Met) as raw materials by one-pot hydrothermal strategy. The N , S -CDs exhibited a unique pH-sensitive luminescence trait within pH range of 3.2–11.0 and have great linear relationship of 4.8–8.0, which indicating their potential application as an imaging reagent in physiological environments. Arg can quench the PL of N , S -CDs due to static quenching. (SQ). The linear range is 2.5–62.5 μM and the LOD is calculated as 0.68 μM. Furthermore, the as-proposed N , S -CDs can be applied as imaging reagents for monitoring of pH and Arg in vivo and vitro owing to outstanding biocompatibility and low cytotoxicity. Interestingly, the N , S -CDs were also used in fluorescent composite films and phosphors owing to exceptional optical properties. All these results indicate that the N , S -CDs have huge potentiality in the areas of fluorescence sensing, bioimaging and fluorescent materials.

Isokinetic versus one-repetition maximum strength assessment in chronic heart failure.

Abstract:PURPOSE Reduction in exercise capacity in patients with chronic heart failure (CHF) has been partially attributed to decreased muscle strength. Training studies reported important variations in strength increases during rehabilitation, ranging between 5% and 70% and depending on the measurement technique: isokinetic dynamometry or the one-repetition maximum (1RM) methods. Therefore, the question arises if both techniques assess the changes in muscle strength in a comparable way. METHODS Thirty patients with CHF, New York Heart Association class II-III, with mean baseline VO2peak of 14.8 +/-3.0 mL x kg(-1) x min(-1) and mean baseline left ventricular ejection fraction of 23.5% T 5.5%, were assessed for knee extensor and knee flexor strength before and after 40 training sessions by isokinetic dynamometry and 1RM method. These two strength measurement techniques were compared using the Bland and Altman method for agreement. RESULTS Knee extensor muscle strength increased by 7.4% and knee flexor strength increased by 18.7% if measured by isokinetic testing. With the 1RM method, knee extensor and flexor strength increased by 36% and 100%, respectively. Both techniques were not in agreement for muscle strength assessment; improvements were more important with the 1RM method. Furthermore, statistical analysis showed that the 1RM technique was overestimating strength increases in comparison with isokinetic evaluation, especially for higher strength levels. CONCLUSIONS In the follow-up of exercise training programs in patients with CHF, isokinetic measurements should be preferentially used to limit bias between measurements at different times.
Facile synthesis of red dual-emissive carbon dots for ratiometric fluorescence sensing and cellular imaging

Abstract:Recently, widespread attention has been paid to red emissive carbon dots (CDs) which have desirable optical properties, low toxicity, and biocompatibility. Despite great efforts, the facile preparation of red dual-emissive CDs useful for ratiometric detection and bioimaging remains challenging. Here, we report a facile synthesis of red dual-emissive CDs and their potential for ratiometric fluorescence sensing and cellular imaging. Derived from the hydrothermal treatment of dicyandiamide and o-phenylenediamine in dilute sulfuric acid, the CDs are surface-tailored with nitrogen-, oxygen-, and sulfur-containing functional groups. The as-prepared CDs show various good features, including good water solubility, biocompatibility, excitation-independent dual-emission with two photoluminescence (PL) peaks centered at 630 and 680 nm, and an absolute quantum yield (QY) of 30.2% in water. The CDs exhibit a selective, sensitive, rapid, and stable ratiometric fluorescence response toward methyl blue, giving a linear relationship in the range of 0.5-300 mu M with a correlation coefficient (R-2) of 0.997. We also study ratiometric fluorescence sensing for the accurate detection of pH. Moreover, the CDs possess good cellular imaging ability, indicating their promising applicability for biomedical applications. These results pave a way toward the fabrication of red dual-emissive carbon-based nanomaterials useful for both ratiometric sensing and bioimaging.
Synthesis of Photoluminescent Carbon Dots Using Hibiscus Tea Waste and Heteroatom Doping for Multi-Metal Ion Sensing: Applications in Cell imaging and Environmental Samples

Abstract:Novel photoluminescent carbon dots (CDs) were synthesized through a facile hydrothermal method using Hibiscus tea extract as a natural carbon source and boric acid as a boron source. The optical and physicochemical properties of the as-synthesized nitrogen- and boron-doped CDs (NB-CDs) were characterized using UV–Visible (UV–Vis), photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy, Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The as-synthesized NB-CDs showed spherical morphology of approximately 6.2 ± 0.5 nm with quantum yield (9.2%), high aqueous solubility, strong photo-stability, and excitation-dependent PL behavior. The obtained NB-CDs exhibited high stability over a wide pH range and high ionic strength. Additionally, NB-CDs exhibited PL enhancement response with excellent sensitivity toward multi-metal ions, including Ag+, Cd2+, and Cr3+ ions, with very low detection limits of 44.5, 164.4, and 54.6 nM, respectively, with a wide concentration range of 0–10 μM. Upon testing the cytotoxicity of the NB-CDs at a concentration of 20 μg/mL for 24 h, we found no obvious inhibition of cell viability. Therefore, the proposed sensor method can be successfully applied to detect Ag+, Cd2+, and Cr3+ ions in cell imaging as well as in real water environmental samples.

Abstract:During the heretofore several years, Carbon dots (CDs) have achieved the widely used in fluorescence sensing, optoelectronics and bio imaging owing to their distinctive photoluminescence attribute. Here, CDs with bule to red emission were prepared by solvent heat treatment of phenol-derived with regulation the reaction time in the synthetic system, and their fluorescence spectra ranged from 450 ∼ 650 nm. Characterization through variety of methods and density functional theory calculations clearly demonstrates that the achieve stable long-wavelength emission caused in solvent is mainly due to the increase in conjugate area and oxygen elements of CDs. Importantly, conjugate area and oxidation degree can affect the level of HOMO-LUMO, further changing the band gap leading to fluorescent red-shift. Because of their excellent photoluminescent properties, we examined the performance in detection of non-metal ions by green and yellow-color CDs. The results show that they have high accuracy and rapid reaction to ClO- within the scope of 0 ∼ 50 μM and 4 ∼ 44 μM, with response limits are 31.1 nM and 56.5 nM, respectively. Moreover, we also prepared CDs/PMMA films and CDs/epoxy resin films with highly transparent and stability. Subsequently, the white-light emission diodes (0.32, 0.31; ClE coordinate) was obtained through mixing CDs in a certain proportion. This study provides a novel platform for fluorescence sensing of multi-color emission CDs, and provides strong potential for new optoelectronic equipment.
Red Emitting Nitrogen-Doped Carbon Dots for Fluorescence and Colorimetric Dual-Mode Detection of Cu 2+ and Biological Sensing

Abstract:Herein, red-emitting nitrogen-doped carbon dots (N-CDs) were prepared using p-phenylenediamine and polyethylene glycol 20000 as precursors. The N-CDs are spherical and uniformly distributed with average particle sizes of 2.36 nm. The N-CDs display excitation-independent fluorescence behavior with the optimal excitation and the maximum emission wavelengths centered at 487 and 628 nm, respectively. Results indicated that as prepared CDs can provide a rapid and highly selective recognition of Cu 2+ with the range of 45-70 μM and a detection (LOD) limit of 45.87 μM. A clear color change of the N-CDs solution (orange-red to black) can also be visualized by adding Cu 2+ . Moreover, a smartphone-based platform for the detection of Cu 2+ was developed to detect Cu 2+ in real time by analyzing RGB values, giving a linear range of 20-140 μM. and a LOD limit of 35.83 μM. In addition, it was applied for the detection of Cu 2+ in tap water, the recoveries were 86.18%-104.95%, and the relative standard deviations were 1.64%-2.43%. The N-CDs can be used to detect Cu 2+ in vitro and in vivo.

Abstract:A set of the highly fluorescent N, S co-doped carbon dots (NSCDs) were prepared through one-step hydrothermal synthesis at different temperature with citric acid as the carbon source and cysteamine as the N, S source. The NSCDs synthesized at 200 °C show significant quantum yield (81%) due to its optimal structure. The structure of the NSCDs changed with varying degrees of carbonization/aromatization and different content of multifunctional groups of C=O, −NH2, −OH, −SH, and N, S-aromatic heterocycte under different preparation temperatures, thus exhibiting tunable fluorescence. Especially, the obtained NSCDs exhibited a blue fluorescence in solution state and changed from strong blue to yellowish-green in its solid state under UV light as a result of the increase in preparation temperature. The as-prepared NSCDs can be used in selective detection of complex anions such as Cr2O72− and Fe(CN)63−, cell imaging, and preparation of fluorescent composite films.Graphical Abstractᅟ

Abstract:Turning waste into wealth, herein, two highly fluorescent N and S co-doped carbon dots (N, S-CDs-A and N, S-CDs-B) were synthesized by the hydrothermal reaction of contaminant reactive red 2 (RR2) and L-cysteine or L-methionine, respectively. The detailed morphology and structure of N, S-CDs were characterized by XRD, Raman spectrum, FTIR spectra, TEM, HRTEM, AFM and XPS. The maximum fluorescent of N, S-CDs-A and N, S-CDs-B are 565 and 615 nm under different excitation wavelengths with moderate fluorescence intensity of 14.0 % and 6.3 %, respectively. The microstructure models of N, S-CDs-A and N, S-CDs-B, which were induced by FT-IR, XPS and element analysis, had been applied in DFT calculation. The result indicated that the doping of S and N is beneficial to obtain the red-shift of fluorescent spectra. Both N, S-CDs-A and N, S-CDs-B showed highly sensitive and selective to Fe3+. N, S-CDs-A can also detect Al3+ ion with high sensitivity and selectivity. Finally, N, S-CDs-B was successfully applied in cell imaging.

Abstract:Carbon dots (CDs) are attracting significant research attention due to their low toxicity and highly favorable photochemical properties. This study reports the synthesis of nitrogen‐doped CDs (N‐CDs) using 3‐aminophenol and o‐phenylenediamine as carbon precursors and their application to non‐toxic, biocompatible polychromatic agents for biological imaging studies. The prepared N‐CDs exhibited multicolored fluorescence (blue, green, yellow, orange) with excellent optical stability and biocompatibility. As a result of FT‐IR and XPS, N‐CD was found to have similar ‐OH and C‐H in the surface functional group, showing a graphene structure with good hydrophilicity. The size of the synthesized N‐CDs were confirmed by TEM images to be less than 10nm. MTT analysis was performed using Hela cells, and cell survival was very high in all N‐CDs. Among N‐CDs, G‐CDs exhibit the highest fluorescence intensity and provide excellent fluorescence microscopic images for cells in blue, green, and red channels. This article is protected by copyright. Abstract:Stable blue fluorescent nitrogen doped carbon dots (N-CDs) with a very high quantum yield up to 81% has been reported for the first time. Novel N-CDs were synthesized through an efficient and rapid one-step hydrothermal synthesis process from diethylenetriamine as nitrogen source and a novel carbon source trans-aconitic acid. The nanosized particles of N-CDs were in the range of 2–8 nm and uniformly distributed in molecular level. The N-CDs showed high selectivity toward Fe3+ with low detection limit of 10.42 nmol L−1 (with corresponding linear range of 2–50 μmol L−1) enabling them for ion detection application and also exhibited high fluorescence stability in extreme pH conditions. Novel N-CDs also presented a green emission shift under acidic condition (pH~2) which makes them a potential sensing probe for security papers, food packaging and bio-medical detection sensors. A security paper sensor device has been fabricated and its operation function has been validated by making real time detection of color. The novel and facile to manufacture carbon dots has potential applications ranging from biological nano-sensors for security document to color-switch sensing and bio-imaging.

Abstract:A green one‐step hydrothermal method has been successfully used to prepare carbon dots (CDs) by selectively co‐doping nitrogen, phosphorus and sulphur elements. For the sensitive detection of iron ions, a fluorescence quencher sensor based on nitrogen‐ and sulphur‐doped carbon dots (red NS‐CDs) has been developed, because of the good optical properties and bio‐histocompatibility of green NPS‐CDs and blue NP‐CDs, They are observed to penetrate NCl−H292 cells, fluorescing green and localizing in the cytoplasm. Carbon dots (CDs) with tunable photoluminescence was successfully prepared via selective co‐doping of three elements, including nitrogen, phosphorus and sulfur element by green one‐step hydrothermal method. Nitrogen‐sulfur‐doped CDs (red NS‐CDs), which emitted red fluorescence under UV excitation, were used to detect iron ions in the linear range 1–50 μM, yielding detectable limits as low as 94 nM. The nitrogen‐phosphorus‐doped CDs (blue NP‐CDs) exhibited blue fluorescence with quantum yields up to 34.5 %. When the concentration is 800 μg/mL, it showed excellent anticancer effect in vitro. The nitrogen‐sulfur‐phosphorus‐doped CDs (green NPS‐CDs) emitting green fluorescence showed a low cytotoxicity at a high concentration of 800 μg/mL and were used for intracelluar imaging of NCl−H292 cells. This study demonstrated the photoluminescent characteristics of carbon dots (CDs) and highlighted the ability to modify their peak fluorescence emission wavelengths through the flexible combination of specific reagents under comparable hydrothermal conditions. Additionally, it provided valuable insights into the efficient methodologies for synthesizing CDs suitable for various application scenarios.

Abstract:N,S co-doped carbon dots (N/S-CDs) was synthesized by using β-cyclodextrin as carbon source and Reactive Black 5 as nitrogen and sulfur source. The structure of the N/S-CDs was characterized and its performance for detection of Fe2+ and Al3+ was evaluated. Experimental results demonstrated that the N/S-CDs had good stability in 10 mmol/L brine and in a wide pH range of 3–12. The N/S-CDs exhibited high selectivity for detection of Fe2+ and Al3+ by dual-modal fluorescence enhancement and visualization with the naked eye over a wide pH range. The N/S-CDs displayed good anti-interference performance and low detection limits of 6.99 nmol/L for Fe2+ and 5.5 nmol/L for Al3+. The N/S-CDs responded to Al3+ rapidly within 3 min. Measurements on particle size, zeta potential, and UV–vis and FT-IR spectra suggested that Fe2+ enhanced fluorescence of the N/S-CDs by chelating while Al3+ promoted aggregation through combination with the N/S-CDs which responded to Al3+ by aggregation-induced enhancement of emission (AIEE) mechanism.

Abstract:Carbon dots (CDs), as a new kind of carbon-based luminescent nanomaterials, have drawn widespread attention in the fields of fluorescence sensing, optoelectronic devices, and biological imaging. This work uses citric acid (CA) and Nile Blue A (NBA) as precursors. By simply changing the solvent in the reaction, their bandgaps were systematically controlled, thereby successfully obtaining bright blue, yellow and red fluorescence emission CDs (B-, Y- and RCDs). The higher quantum yield (QY) of B-, Y- and RCDs are 64%, 57% and 51%, respectively. The selected precursors and different solvents are the key to the formation of three emission CDs. Detailed characterization and density functional theory (DFT) calculations further indicate that the difference in emission color of CDs is due to the size of the sp2 conjugate domain. In addition, we used multicolor CDs as fluorescent probes to investigate their performance in detection. Among them, BCDs and YCDs can detect Sudan Red I with high selectivity and sensitivity. In the concentration range of 0 to 80 µM, the detection limits are 56 and 41 nM, respectively. Multicolor emitting phosphors and fluorescent films are also obtained by mixing CDs with other matrices. Using Ultraviolet (UV) chip as the excitation source and combining with multicolor fluorescent film and a certain proportion of B-, Y-, and RCDs/epoxy resin composites, bright monochromatic light-emitting diodes (LEDs) and white LED (WLED) with high color rendering index (CRI) were prepared. The above results indicate that the multicolor CDs prepared by us have great application potential in the fields of food safety control and optical devices.

Abstract:Carbon dots with dual emission have drown increasing attention in biology and medicine due to their fascinating optical and biological properties. Herein, dual emissive nitrogen-doped carbon dots (N-doped CDs) are synthesized by simple annealing of ammonium citrate in the air via solvent-free carbonization. Interestingly, N-doped CDs display dual emission peaking at 462 nm and 560 nm under excitation of 360 nm and 470 nm, respectively. The dual PL emission spectra of the N-doped CDs illustrate that each emission is associated with the single excitation band. The data reveals that two autonomous fluorescent centres are co-existed in N-doped CDs because doping with nitrogen (N) could change the surface chemistry of the CDs. In addition, dual emissive N-doped CDs have significantly low toxicity and could be applied as multicolor cell imaging using T-ca cancer cells. Moreover, obtained N-doped CDs are sensitive to temperature in the range of 15–90 °C and show potential to detect temperature in living cells. Furthermore, low toxicity and high biocompatibility proved that the obtained N-doped CDs could be applied in vivo imaging. Besides, the dual emissive N-doped CDs have the ability to probe Fe3+ ions in water as well as in living T-ca cells.

Abstract:In this work, dual emission nitrogen and sulfur co-doped fluorescent carbon dots (DE-CDs) were designed for pH variation and hydrogen sulfide (H 2 S) sensing and bioimaging through fluorescence enhancement. The DE-CDs with green-orange emission were facilely prepared by one-pot hydrothermal strategy using neutral red and sodium 1,4-dinitrobenzene sulfonate as precursors, manifesting intriguing dual-emission behavior at 502 and 562 nm. As the pH increases from 2.0 to 10.2, the fluorescence of DE-CDs gradually increases. The linear ranges are 2.0-3.0 and 5.4-9.6, respectively, which are attributed to the abundant amino groups on the surface of the DE-CDs. Meanwhile, H 2 S can be employed as an enhancer to increase the fluorescence of DE-CDs. The linear range is 25-500 μM, and the LOD is calculated to be 9.7 μM. Besides, the DE-CDs can be used as imaging agents for pH variation and H 2 S sensing in living cells and zebrafish due to their low toxicity and good biocompatibility. All of the results demonstrated that the DE-CDs can monitor pH fluctuations and H 2 S in aqueous and biological environments, and have promising applications in the fields of fluorescence sensing, disease detection, and bioimaging.

Dual-property blue and red emission carbon dots for Fe(III) ions detection and cellular imaging

Abstract:The excitation wavelength-dependent and -independent emissions are two crucial fluorescent properties of carbon dots (CDs). However, CDs reported till date exhibit only one of these properties, which limits their practical applications. Herein, dual-property carbon dots (DCDs) with both the excitation wavelength-dependent and -independent emissions were synthesized via a facile one-step solvothermal method using 4-(2-pyridylazo)-resorcinol as the carbon precursor. The multi-functional applications of the resulting DCDs were also evaluated. The as-prepared DCDs exhibited not only excellent monodispersity, high photostability, and storage stability, but also low toxicity, good biocompatibility, and cellular bioimaging capability. In addition, the DCDs exhibited excitation-dependent emission photoluminescence under low excitation wavelengths. The DCDs exhibited good Fe3+ detection by quenching the blue emission fluorescence and showed a relatively low Fe3+ detection limit of 0.067 μmol·L−1 based on three times signal-to-noise criteria (R2 = 0.99). Furthermore, the DCDs showed excitation-independent emission at low excitation wavelengths and exhibited red emission at about 598 nm to avoid damage to the body. These results demonstrate the excellent bioimaging properties of the DCDs. Owing to their dual PL properties, the as-prepared DCDs exhibited multi-functional applications: Fe3+ detection and A549 cell bioimaging. These results will be helpful in developing novel CDs for applications in various fields.<h3 class="a-plus-plus">Graphic abstract</h3>

Preparation and application of solvent-modulated self-doped N-S multicolour fluorescence carbon quantum dots

Abstract:In this paper, two types of carbon quantum dot (CQDs) were prepared using biocompatible l-methionine as the carbon source and urea as the nitrogen source and a one-step hydrothermal treatment. By changing the reaction solvents (deionized (DI) water and dimethylformamide (DMF)), the maximum emission of the resulting CQDs shifted from blue to red light. Specifically, the emission wavelength of the CQDs moved from 433 nm to 625 nm following embedding of a new functional group (-CONH-) on the surface of the CQDs. Photoluminescence quantum yields of the CQDs with blue and red emission reached 64% and 61%, respectively. The R-CQDs were used to detect metal ions and a linear relationship was demonstrated between ln(F/F0 ) and Fe3+ concentration in the range 0-0.5 mmol/L with a detection limit of 0.067 μM. Therefore these R-CQDs have great potential as fluorescent probes for Fe3+ detection. We expect that the excellent water-soluble, biocompatible and optical properties of the CQDs developed in this work mean that they will be widely used to detect biological cells.
Carbon dots for multicolor cell imaging and ultra-sensitive detection of multiple ions in living cells: One Stone for multiple Birds

Abstract:Given the significant impact of ions on environment pollution and human health, it is urgently needed to establish effective and convenient ion detection approaches, particularly in living cells. In this paper, we constructed multicolor N-doped-carbon dots (mPD-CDs) by facile one-step hydrothermal carbonization of m-phenylenediamine (mPD). mPD-CDs were successfully deployed for multicolor cellular imaging for animal cells, fungi, and bacteria in a wash-free way with high photostability and satisfactory biocompability. Moreover, mPD-CDs can be used as a fluorescent sensing probe for ultrasensitive detection of both iodide ion (I-) and typical heavy metals such as cadmium (Cd2+), copper (Cu2+), mercury (Hg2+), gadolinium (Gd3+), ferrous ion (Fe2+), Zinc (Zn2+), and ferric ion (Fe3+). This is the first report using CDs as optical sensing probe for the detection of Gd3+, and for detection of Fe3+ with fluorescence "turn on". More significantly, with these versatile and fascinating properties, we applied mPD-CDs for intracellular ion detection in living cells like Hep G2 and S. cerevisiae, and zebra fish. Altogether, mPD-CDs displayed great potential for multicolor cell imaging and the multiple ion detection in vitro and in vivo, presenting a promising strategy for in-situ ultrasensitive sensing of multiple metal ions in the environment and the biological systems.

Abstract:Carbonaceous nanomaterials have shown great potential in the analytical and environmental domains due to their natural intriguing properties. Rich in quantum yield and reliable performances are necessary for carbon dots to be effectively used in the real-world applications. Carbon dots (CDs) exhibits high blue-emission with a quantum yield ( φ) of 11% were synthesized through a single-step superficial pyrolysis technique. In this work, the derived carbon dots were employed as reducing and stabilizing agents in a unique one-step approach for the synthesis of AgNPs. The fluorescence of CDs was found to be quenched in the presence of dopamine with greater sensitivity, the minimum limit of detection was determined as 0.35 μ M and possible mechanism could be the inner filter effect along with photoinduced electron transfer. In addition to this, the outstanding optical properties of CDs enable them to use as invisible ink in loading secret information and provide enhanced counterfeit protection. The solid-state quenching is successfully prevented when the CDs were dispersed in a polymer matrix for solid-state films preparation. The CDs-polymer composite is packed on top of a 365 nm UV LED chip, which emits blue light, to fabricate blue LED. Hence, we suggest that the synthesized CDs may serve as a future trend setter by as a single molecular probe for multifarious applications such as optoelectronics and forensic fields. Previously, we utilized these CDs for fingerprint detection and now apply them for new emerging applications.
