Abstract:This study explores the integration of deep learning and Internet of Things (IoT) technologies to enhance healthcare delivery, with a primary focus on improving electrocardiogram (ECG) analysis and real-time patient monitoring systems. The research presents the development of two innovative deep learning models based on the MIT-BIH dataset, enabling highly accurate ECG analysis. One model is trained for precise R-R peak detection, while the other performs effective classification of ECG signals into five distinct disease categories. The study also introduces an integrated healthcare system that seamlessly captures patients' real-time physiological data, including ECG, SpO2, and temperature, using an ESP32 microcontroller and Raspberry Pi. An IoT infrastructure with Node-RED IBM Platform and Message Queuing Telemetry Transport (MQTT) securely transmits the ECG data to the advanced analysis algorithms. The user interface displays patients' vital signs, including heart rate, oxygen saturation, and temperature, providing healthcare professionals with comprehensive real-time insights. By integrating the deep learning models, which achieve approximately 99% accuracy, alongside robust sensor technology and an IoT architecture, this system aims to transform healthcare by enabling highly precise ECG analysis and remote patient monitoring. The findings of this study underscore the potential of the synergistic convergence of deep learning, sensor technology, and IoT to advance healthcare delivery and improve patient outcomes.

Abstract:Smart healthcare monitoring systems are proliferating due to the Internet of Things (IoT)-enabled portable medical devices. The IoT and deep learning in the healthcare sector prevent diseases by evolving healthcare from face-to-face consultation to telemedicine. To protect athletes' life from life-threatening severe conditions and injuries in training and competitions, real-time monitoring of physiological indicators is critical. In this research work, we present a deep learning-based IoT-enabled real-time health monitoring system. The proposed system uses wearable medical devices to measure vital signs and apply various deep learning algorithms to extract valuable information. For this purpose, we have taken Sanda athletes as our case study. The deep learning algorithms help physicians properly analyze these athletes' conditions and offer the proper medications to them, even if the doctors are away. The performance of the proposed system is extensively evaluated using a cross-validation test by considering various statistical-based performance measurement metrics. The proposed system is considered an effective tool that diagnoses dreadful diseases among the athletes, such as brain tumors, heart disease, cancer, etc. The performance results of the proposed system are evaluated in terms of precision, recall, AUC, and F1, respectively.

Abstract:Health monitoring and its associated technologies have gained enormous importance over the past few years. The electrocardiogram (ECG) has long been a popular tool for assessing and diagnosing cardiovascular diseases (CVDs). Since the literature on ECG monitoring devices is growing at an exponential rate, it is becoming difficult for researchers and healthcare professionals to select, compare, and assess the systems that meet their demands while also meeting the monitoring standards. This emphasizes the necessity for a reliable reference to guide the design, categorization, and analysis of ECG monitoring systems, which will benefit both academics and practitioners. We present a complete ECG monitoring system in this work, describing the design stages and implementation of an end-to-end solution for capturing and displaying the patient's heart signals, heart rate, blood oxygen levels, and body temperature. The data will be presented on an OLED display, a developed Android application as well as in MATLAB via serial communication. The Internet of Things (IoT) approaches have a clear advantage in tackling the problem of heart disease patient care as they can transform the service mode into a widespread one and alert the healthcare services based on the patient's physical condition. Keeping this in mind, there is also the addition of a web server for monitoring the patient's status via WiFi. The prototype, which is compliant with the electrical safety regulations and medical equipment design, was further benchmarked against a commercially available off-the-shelf device, and showed an excellent accuracy of 99.56%.

Abstract:Nearly 30% of the people in the rural areas of Bangladesh are below the poverty level. Moreover, due to the unavailability of modernized healthcare-related technology, nursing and diagnosis facilities are limited for rural people. Therefore, rural people are deprived of proper healthcare. In this perspective, modern technology can be facilitated to mitigate their health problems. ECG sensing tools are interfaced with the human chest, and requisite cardiovascular data is collected through an IoT device. These data are stored in the cloud incorporates with the MQTT and HTTP servers. An innovative IoT-based method for ECG monitoring systems on cardiovascular or heart patients has been suggested in this study. The ECG signal parameters P, Q, R, S, T are collected, pre-processed, and predicted to monitor the cardiovascular conditions for further health management. The machine learning algorithm is used to determine the significance of ECG signal parameters and error rate. The logistic regression model fitted the better agreements between the train and test data. The prediction has been performed to determine the variation of PQRST quality and its suitability in the ECG Monitoring System. Considering the values of quality parameters, satisfactory results are obtained. The proposed IoT-based ECG system reduces the health care cost and complexity of cardiovascular diseases in the future.

Abstract:The popularity of Internet of Things is increasing day by day in the area of remote monitoring system. The remote monitoring systems include, vehicle or assets monitoring, kids/pets monitoring, fleet management, parking management, water and oil leakage, energy grid monitoring etc. In this paper, we have proposed an intelligent patient monitoring system for monitoring the patients' health condition automatically through sensors based connected networks. Several sensors are used for gathering the biological behaviors of a patient. The meaningful biological information are then forwarded to the IoT cloud. The system is more intelligent that can able to detect the critical condition of a patient by processing sensors data and instantly provides push notification to doctors/nurses as well as hospital in-charge personal. The doctors and nurses get benefited from this system by observing their corresponding patients remotely without visiting in person. Patients' relatives can also get benefited from this system with limited access.

Abstract:IoT-based EHRs use machine learning technology to automate real-time patient-centered records more securely for authorized users. (1) Background: In this era of pandemics, predictive healthcare systems are necessary for private and public healthcare delivery to predict early cancer, COVID-19, hypertension, and fever in Educational Institutions and Elderly Homes. IoT-Based EHRs bring healthcare delivery to the doorsteps of educational home facilities users, thereby reducing the time required to access healthcare and minimizing direct physical interaction between individuals seeking healthcare and their providers. (2) Method: This research work proposed a real-time intelligent IoT-based EHR system that generates vital signs of students within the educational environment using contactless sensors (Raspberry Pi Noir Camera, rPPG camera) and contacted wearable sensors composed of enzymatic sensor, immunogens, and nanosensors to detect cancer (Leukaemia). AFTER CAPTURING THE PHYSIOLOGICAL DATA, THE in-build EWS plots system determines the condition and further triggers the criticality (abnormality) in health status. (3) Discussion: For effective health status prediction by the proposed plan, the vital sign dataset was used to train a model for the proposed method. Among the best-performing models, the random forest algorithm proved a better model, with an accuracy of 99.66% and an error rate of 0.34%. (4) Conclusion: The Home HMS seeks to improve health prediction in institutional homes for users' overall well-being.

Abstract:The Internet of Things (IoT) technology's rapid improvements have opened the door for creative solutions across a range of industries, including healthcare. An IoT-based health monitoring system that aims to revolutionise patient care and healthcare administration is described in this study along with its design, implementation, and performance evaluation. To continuously gather and send health-related data, our system makes use of a network of wearable sensors and gadgets that are seamlessly incorporated into a patient's daily life. Vital indicators like heart rate, blood pressure, temperature, and activity levels are tracked by these devices. To enable real-time analysis and storage, the data is safely sent to a centralised server. Both patients and healthcare professionals can access this information through a user-friendly smartphone application, enabling proactive healthcare decision-making. An effective and scalable architecture is used in the implementation of this system to guarantee the confidentiality, accuracy, and reliability of the data. The data is analysed using machine learning algorithms, which enables the early identification of abnormalities and trends that could portend serious health problems. The system can also produce warnings and notifications, ensuring prompt intervention when it's necessary. Our IoT-based health monitoring system's performance review indicates how well it performs in terms of enhancing healthcare outcomes. The solution gives healthcare professionals immediate access to crucial health information, allowing them to personalise treatment regimens, offer remote consultations, and make educated judgements. Continuous monitoring benefits patients by allowing for early intervention, fewer hospital stays, and an improvement in general health. Additionally, the system's scalability and versatility make it appropriate for a variety of healthcare settings, including small-scale home care and extensive hospital networks.

Abstract:The leading causes of death worldwide are chronic illnesses suchlike diabetes, Heart Disease (HD), cancer as well as chronic respiratory malady. It is remarkably intricate to diagnose HD with disparate symptoms or features. With the augmentation in popularity of smart wearable gadgets, a chance to render an Internet of Things (IoT) solution has turned out to be more. Unfortunately, the survival rates are low for the people suffering from sudden heart attacks. Consequently, a patient monitoring scheme intended for heart patients utilizing IoT centered Deep Learning Modified Neural Network (DLMNN) is proposed to assist in the HD diagnosis, and medication is given accordingly. This proposed technique is executed via '3' steps: I) Authentication, ii) Encryption, and iii) Classification. First, by utilizing the substitution cipher (SC) together with the SHA-512, the heart patient of the specific hospital is authenticated. Subsequently, the wearable IoT sensor device, which is fixed to the patient's body, concurrently transmits the sensor data to the cloud. This sensor data is encrypted and securely transmitted to the cloud utilizing the PDH-AES technique. After that, the encrypted data is finally decrypted, and by employing the DLMNN classifier, the classification is done. The classified outcomes comprise '2'types of data: i) normal and ii) abnormal. It denotes the patient's heart condition and if the outcome is abnormal, an alert text is passed to the physician for treating the patient. The investigational outcomes are estimated and the DLMNN for HD diagnosis shows improvement as compared to existing algorithms. Additionally, the proposed PDH-AES used in support of secure data transmission results in the highest level of security i.e. 95.87%, and it is achieved in the lowest time for encryption along with decryption when weighted against -he existent AES.

Abstract:Medical facilities and technologies have been greatly improved through the application of biosensors, healthcare systems, health diagnosis and disease prevention technologies. However, wireless transmission and deep learning neural network are essential applications and new methods in biomedical engineering nowadays. Hence, authors established a new real-time and intelligent healthcare system that will help the physician’s diagnosis over the patient’s condition and will have a great contribution to medical research. Physiological conditions can be monitored and primary diagnosis will be determined which will help people primarily for personal health care. This paper focused on the collection, transmission, and analysis of physiological signals captured from biosensors with the application of deep learning and segmented analysis for the prediction of heart diseases. Biosensors employed were non-invasive composed of infrared body temperature sensor (MLX90614), heart rate and blood oxygen sensor (MAX30100) and ECG sensor (AD8232). This research used these biosensors to collect signals integrated with Arduino UNO as a central module to process and analyze those signals. ESP8266 Wi-Fi microchip was used to transmit digitized result signals to the database for deep learning analysis. The first segment of deep learning analysis is the Long-Short Term Memory (LSTM) network applied for the temperature, heart rate and arterial oxygen saturation prediction. A rolled training technique was used to provide accurate predictions in this segment. The second segment used was the Convolutional Neural Network (CNN), which comprises three hidden layers to analyze the ECG signals from the image datasets. Deep learning tools used were the powerful python language, python based Anaconda, Google’s TensorFlow and open source neural network library Keras. The algorithm was used for evaluation using the available MIT-BIH ECG database from Physionet databases which attained 99.05% accuracy and arrived at only 4.96% loss rate after 30 training steps. The implementation of the system is comprised of physiological parameter sensing system, the wireless transmission system and the deep neural network prediction system. User interfaces were also developed such as the LCD display which shows values of body temperature, heart rate and arterial oxygen saturation level. Web page and app were created to allow users or doctors for visual presentations of the results of analysis. The webpage contains information about the system, deep learning networks used, biosensors and the historical graph of about the patient’s body temperature, heart rate and oxygen saturation. It also indicates the normal ranges of the physiological parameters.
IoT-Driven System for Continuous Monitoring of Heart Disease Patients Post-Surgery

Abstract:Healthcare technology has advanced with the development of an IoT-based real-time monitoring system for post-operative heart disease patients. This system integrates advanced sensor technologies with cloud-connected platforms to continuously track vital signs, enabling more effective post-operative care. The system employs the HW-827 Heart Rate Sensor and DS18B20 Temperature Sensor, integrated with an ESP32 for wireless connectivity, to collect real-time data. Data was collected from 20 participants in each of the following categories: healthy individuals, pre-operative heart disease patients, and post-operative heart disease patients. The results revealed distinct physiological variations across the groups. Healthy individuals maintained stable temperatures (mean 36.3°C), while post-operative patients exhibited slightly elevated temperatures (mean 36.6°C). Heart rate analysis indicated higher rates in pre-operative (mean 87.8 bpm) and post-operative patients (mean 82.0 bpm) compared to healthy individuals (mean 72.4 bpm). ECG analysis showed elevated readings in pre-operative patients (mean 0.16 mV) compared to healthy individuals (mean 0.10 mV) and post-operative patients (mean 0.12 mV). Statistical analyses, including ANOVA tests, confirmed significant differences among the groups in terms of temperature (F(2, 12) = 4.57, p < 0.05), heart rate (F(2, 12) = 5.91, p < 0.01), and ECG readings (F(2, 12) = 3.24, p < 0.05). This study demonstrates the potential of IoT technologies in enhancing post-operative care through continuous monitoring and data-driven insights. It emphasizes the role of real-time patient data in improving personalized healthcare management.

Abstract:Proposed architecture for IoT enabled human centric intelligent systems for remote chronic disease monitoring. The possibility of remotely monitoring and managing chronic diseases is made feasible by the Internet of Things (IoT), which enables the collection and analysis of vast amounts of data from various sources such as sensors, devices, and wearables. However, conventional machine learning approaches often encounter difficulties when dealing with IoT data due to its noise, heterogeneity, and high dimensions. In this study, we introduce a novel technique for developing human‐centric intelligent systems for remote monitoring of chronic diseases using deep learning in an IoT context. This technique is capable of handling complex and diverse IoT data, providing accurate and comprehensible predictions and recommendations. We outline a standardized architecture for these systems, comprising of three distinct phases: data acquisition, data processing, and data visualization. To demonstrate the effectiveness of our methodology, we apply it to a case study involving the development and evaluation of a human‐centered intelligent system for remote monitoring of hypertension and diabetic patients, involving real users. Our findings reveal a substantial enhancement in prediction accuracy when employing our proposed hybrid algorithm. When compared to traditional algorithms, our proposed hybrid algorithm exhibits superior performance, achieving an accuracy of 93.5%, surpassing the Restricted Boltzmann Machine (RBM) with an accuracy of 88.2%, Long Short‐Term Memory (LSTM) networks at 90.4%, and Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) at 91.6%. This improvement in accuracy is critical for ensuring reliable disease monitoring and management, highlighting the effectiveness of our approach. In terms of precision, scalability, and user satisfaction, we demonstrate the effectiveness and efficiency of our method. Furthermore, we address the social and ethical implications inherent in our methodology and suggest avenues for future research in this domain.

There are many types of heart disease, but the most common are coronary heart disease, congestive heart failure, and arrhythmia. Currently, the healthcare system is hospital essential which is inefficient to treatthese conditions, which require immediate assistance. This is a roundabout way to point to a rise in the death rates. Heart rate variability (HRV) is a useful tool for identifying and monitoring potential risk factors for heart disease. HRV measures the time between each heartbeat and can be used to identify subtle changes in heart rate that may be indicative of an underlying health condition. With the help of Machine learning and (Internet of Things) IoT-based heart patients real-time monitoring and predicting risk analysis will enable doctors to view patient's health status online. Internet of Things (IoT) technology to continuously track and monitor vital signs,including heart rate, pulse rate, and body temperature. In addition to these traditional vital signs, the system also includes afeature for monitoring heart rate variability (HRV), which has been shown to be a useful indicator of heart disease risk prediction. Abstract:The progress in communication and information technology has contributed to the creation of the Internet of Thing (IoT). Internet of Things today plays a crucial role in tracking, documenting, storing, presentation and communication in variety of fields like healthcare, smart cities, engineering, and others. Using an IoT-based monitoring system, the critical parameters of health are tracked and data transmitted via network. Data will be accessed for the benefit of the patient's current condition. This research paper focused on remote monitoring of body temperature (DS18B20), heart rate and SPO2(MAX30100), additionally the position of patient can be obtained on demand using SIM7600E GSM and GNSS HAT (Hardware attached on top) Module. Raspberry Pi 4B used as microcontroller to gather data from health parameter sensors. The data from sensors transmitted into cloud storage through a network. The proposed system uses last version of IoT microcontroller and devices were used which significantly affected the precision and speed of the whole system. A GUI cross platform mobile application was developed for presenting real-time data to both doctors and patients. The system is beneficial for synchronous monitoring of patient’s health status hence allowing urgent medical decision by doctors at right time.

Abstract:Healthcare monitoring system in hospitals and many other health centers has experienced significant growth, and portable healthcare monitoring systems with emerging technologies are becoming of great concern to many countries worldwide nowadays. The advent of Internet of Things (IoT) technologies facilitates the progress of healthcare from face-to-face consulting to telemedicine. This paper proposes a smart healthcare system in IoT environment that can monitor a patient's basic health signs as well as the room condition where the patients are now in real-time. In this system, five sensors are used to capture the data from hospital environment named heart beat sensor, body temperature sensor, room temperature sensor, CO sensor, and CO<sub>2</sub> sensor. The error percentage of the developed scheme is within a certain limit (< 5%) for each case. The condition of the patients is conveyed via a portal to medical staff, where they can process and analyze the current situation of the patients. The developed prototype is well suited for healthcare monitoring that is proved by the effectiveness of the system.

Abstract:Remote patient monitoring has recently been popularised due to advanced technological innovations. The advent of the Sixth Generation Internet of Things (6G-IoT) communication technology, combined with deep learning algorithms, presents a groundbreaking opportunity for enhancing remote cardiac system monitoring. This paper proposes an innovative framework leveraging the ultra-reliable, low-latency communication capabilities of 6G-IoT to transmit real-time cardiac data from wearable devices directly to healthcare providers. Integrating deep learning models facilitates the accurate analysis and prediction of cardiac anomalies, significantly improving traditional monitoring systems. Our methodology involves the deployment of cutting-edge wearable sensors capable of capturing high-fidelity cardiac signals. These signals are transmitted via 6G-IoT networks, ensuring minimal delay and maximum reliability. Upon receiving the data, a densely connected deep neural network with an optimised swish activation function—designed explicitly for cardiac anomaly detection is employed to analyse the data in real-time. These algorithms are trained on vast datasets to recognise patterns indicative of potential cardiac issues, allowing immediate intervention when necessary. The proposed system's efficacy is validated through extensive testing in simulated environments, demonstrating its ability to accurately detect and swiftly predict a wide range of cardiac conditions. Moreover, implementing 6G-IoT communication ensures the system's scalability and adaptability to future technological advancements.

Abstract:Advancement in sensor technologies has resulted in rapid evolution of Internet of Things (IoT) applications for developing behavioral and physiological monitoring systems such as IoT-based student healthcare monitoring system. Nowadays, a growing number of students living alone scattered over wide geographical areas, and tracking their health function status is necessary. In this paper, an IoT-based student healthcare monitoring model is proposed to continuously check student vital signs and detect biological and behavioral changes via smart healthcare technologies. In this model, vital data are collected via IoT devices and data analysis is carried out through the machine learning methods for detecting the probable risks of student's physiological and behavioral changes. The experimental results reveal that the proposed model meets the efficiency and proper accuracy for detecting the students' condition. After evaluating the proposed model, the support vector machine has achieved the highest accuracy of 99.1% which is a promising result for our purpose. The results outperformed decision tree, random forest, and multilayer perceptron neural network algorithms as well.

Abstract:Developing an IoT-based system with enhanced deep learning to predict heart disease aims to revolutionize healthcare. The system, by continuously monitoring vital signs, utilizes advanced machine learning for early detection of potential heart issues, emphasizing innovation for timely interventions and potentially life-saving outcomes. Select appropriate sensors for monitoring vital signs such as heart rate, blood pressure, ECG (Electrocardiogram), oxygen saturation, and temperature. Connect these sensors to an IoT platform using wireless communication protocols like Wi-Fi. Predicting heart disease using an IoT-based ThingSpeak framework is a practical and efficient way to monitor and predict heart-related issues in real-time. ThingSpeak is an IoT platform that allows you to collect, store, analyse, and visualize data from IoT sensors. Here's a step-by-step guide on how to develop a heart disease prediction system using ThingSpeak: Deploy the trained deep learning model to make real-time predictions based on the IoT sensor data. Implement strong security regulations. The input dataset is pre-processed approach for resolving error data and missing values. On ThingSpeak, we can apply preprocessing functions to your data. This might include data smoothing, outlier removal, or missing data handling. Pre-processed data values features are then classified into normal and abnormal by Convolution Neural Network-CNN. A 10-fold cross-validation tactic was employed during the model development procedure. In the experimental result comparisons of MCC calculation, the MD2N model attained the 0.86201 and DCNN perfect reached as 0.84111 and then DBN reached as 0.91157 and then AE model rate as 0.88662 and then proposed model reaches as 0.93291 correspondingly.

Abstract:The growing use of Internet of Things (IoT) technologies in a variety of sectors, including healthcare, has opened up new possibilities for gathering and analyzing patient data. In some cases, the elderly are exposed to significant risk and even mortality as a result of the global aging problem, which has become a burden in recent years. Numerous IoT devices are being created to monitor, track, and record the actions of the elderly to reduce these hazards. This study proposed a novel, dependable, cloud-based remote system patient monitoring framework for IoT health detection. The main distinguished part of this research is that we rarely can find a framework in the literature that is based on real-time systems by considering heartbeat (BPM), blood oxygen (SpO2), and body temperature at the same time. The implementation and testing of this real-time system is classified into six distinctly separated phases for developing both the hardware and software. To verify the performance of the suggested system, data were gathered from BOT-IoT datasets. The outcome enhances patient satisfaction, secure data transmission, and healthcare outcomes by showing that the proposed framework is more efficient than other compared protocols in terms of the decision time, which is 16.3 seconds for 46 features, with 100% accuracy.

Abstract:Abstract Deep learning and the Internet of Things (IoT) are revolutionizing the healthcare industry. This study explores the potential commercial transformation resulting from IoT-enabled healthcare systems that use deep learning for patient monitoring and diagnosis. Wearables, smart sensors, and internet-connected medical devices allow doctors to monitor patients' vital signs, activities, and physiological traits in real time. However, these devices generate vast and complex data, making analysis and diagnosis challenging. Deep learning models are well-suited to analyze this growing volume of medical data. Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) and Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) networks can automatically recognize complex patterns and relationships in sensor data, electronic health records, and patient-reported information. This capability aids clinical professionals in diagnosing illnesses, identifying warning signs, and tailoring treatments. This paper describes a Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) and Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) -based IoT-enabled healthcare system that performs feature extraction, classification, prediction, and data preparation. Additionally, it addresses interpretability issues, privacy concerns, and resource limitations of deep learning models in real-time healthcare settings. The study demonstrates the effectiveness of Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) and Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) -powered IoT-based healthcare solutions, such as real-time patient monitoring, disease detection, risk prediction, and therapy optimization. These techniques can improve the quality, cost, and outcomes of healthcare. Combining Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) and Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) with IoT can significantly enhance healthcare by improving disease detection, personalized treatment, and patient monitoring through connected devices and powerful analytics.
