Abstract:Objective To evaluate the efficacy and safety of moxifloxacin for the treatment on the patients with community acquired pneumonia.Methods A randomized controlled,parallel,block,open clinical trial was conducted.Patients were randomized into each group in the study.Trial group patients received moxifloxacin 400 mg once daily,and control group patients received levofloxacin 200 mg twice daily by intravenous infusion.The duration was 7~14 days in both groups.Ninety-two cases in the ITT analysis,46 patients in trial group received moxifloxacin treatment,and 46 in control group received levofloxacin treatment;73 cases in the PP analysis,37 patients in moxifloxacin group,and 66 patients in levofloxacin group;73 cases in PP/MBE,34 patients in moxifloxacin group and 39 patients in levofloxacin group;62 cases in the PP/MBE,31 patients in each group.The overall efficacy rates of each group in ITT were 76.1%.Results The overall efficacy rates in PP were 89.2% and 88.9%,respectively.The bacterial eradication rates of each group in ITT/MBE were 88.2% and 82.1%,and in PP/MBE were 90.3% and 90.6%,respectively.The adverse drug reaction was evaluated in 92 cases.The adverse drug reaction rates,which related to study drug of each group were 10.3% and 8.7%,respectively.The results showed that there were no statistical differences between these two groups(P0.05).Conclusion Moxifloxacin was effective and safe as levofloxacin in the treatment of community acquired pneumonia.

Abstract:ObjectivesTo evaluate the efficacy and safety of oral sitafloxacin versus oral moxifloxacin in the treatment of Chinese adults with community-acquired pneumonia (CAP).Patients and methodsThis is a multicenter, randomized, open-label, positive-controlled clinical trial (chinadrugtrials.org.cn identifier: CTR20130046). CAP patients received sitafloxacin tablets 100 mg once daily (qd) or 100 mg twice daily (bid) to compare with moxifloxacin tablets 400 mg qd, for 7-10 days. The primary outcome was non-inferiority of sitafloxacin to moxifloxacin in clinical cure rate at test of cure (TOC) visit in per-protocol set (PPS).ResultsA total of 343 patients were randomized (sitafloxacin 100 mg qd, n = 117; sitafloxacin 100 mg bid, n = 116; moxifloxacin, n = 110), 291 patients were included in the PPS (sitafloxacin 100 mg qd, n = 96; sitafloxacin 100 mg bid, n = 94; moxifloxacin, n = 101). The clinical cure rate was 94.8% in the sitafloxacin 100 mg qd group, 96.8% in the sitafloxacin 100 mg bid group and 95.0% in the moxifloxacin group. At the TOC visit, the microbiological success rate was 97.0% (32/33) in the sitafloxacin 100 mg qd group, 97.1% (34/35) in the sitafloxacin 100 mg bid group and 94.9% (37/39) in the moxifloxacin group in the microbiological evaluable set (MES). The incidence of study-drug-related adverse events (AEs) was 23.3% (27/116) in the sitafloxacin 100 mg qd group, 29.8% (34/114) in the sitafloxacin 100 mg bid group and 28.2% (31/110) in the moxifloxacin group (p > .05). The common AEs related to study drug were dizziness, nausea, diarrhea, increased platelet count and alanine transaminase (ALT) elevation. All the AEs resolved completely after discontinuation of study drug.ConclusionSitafloxacin 100 mg qd or 100 mg bid for 7-10 days is not inferior to moxifloxacin 400 mg qd for 7-10 days in clinical efficacy for adult CAP patients. Sitafloxacin provides a safety profile comparable to moxifloxacin.

Abstract:Objective To investigate the clinical effects and safety of moxifloxacin in the treatment of elderly patients with community-acquired pneumonia. Methods 64 patients with elderly patients with community-acquired pneumonia were chosen in the period from October 2012 to October 2014 in our hospital and randomly divided into both group including control group (32 patients) with levofloxacin and treatment group (32 patients) with moxifloxa-cin by sequential regimen including intravenous drip and orally; and the clinical efficacy, the disappeared time of clinical symptoms and signs, pathogenic bacteria clearance rate, the levels of immune function index before and after treatment and adverse reactions incidence of both groups were compared. Results The clinical efficacy, disappeared time of clinical symptoms and signs and pathogenic bacteria clearance rate of treatment group were significantly better than control group(P<0. 05). The levels of immune function index of treatment group after operation was significant-ly better than control group( P<0. 05 ) . The adverse reactions incidence of treatment group was significantly lower than control group(P<0. 05). Conclusion Moxifloxacin in treatment of elderly patients with community-acquired pneumonia can efficiently improve the clinical effect, shorten the clinical course, improve the immune function and be helpful to reduce the risk of adverse reactions.
A Randomized Double-blind Control Clinical Study on Moxifloxacin for Treatment of Bacterial Skin Infections

Abstract:OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of moxifloxacin in comparison with the levofloxacin in the treatment of patients with acute uncomplicated bacterial skin infections( including cellulitis, erysipelas, impetigo, furuncles, simple abscesses, wound infection).METHODS: A randomized, double-blind, parallel study was conducted. Treatment will be given for 7 to 14 days. The primary efficacy variable will be the clinical response 1 day and 7 days after end of treatment. RESULTS: Eighty-eight subjects were included, 44 subjects in the trial group (moxifloxacin) and 44 in the control group(levofloxacin). The clinical efficacy rates in the trial group at 1 day after end of treatment was 84.6%(33/39), the bacterial clearance rate was 93.8%(30/32), while in the control group were 85.0%(34/40) and 93.9%(31/33),respectively. The clinical efficacy rates in the trial group at 7 days after end of treatment was 85.3%(29/34). The bacterial clearance rate was 92.9%(26/ 28), while in the control group were 90.0%(36/40) and 93.9%(31/33),respectively. The adverse reaction rate in the trial group was 27.3%( 12/44), while in the control group was 11.4%(5/44). The difference between the two groups were no statistically significant. CONCLUSION: It suggested that moxifloxacin is an effective and safe drug for acute uncomplicated bacterial skin infections.
Efficacy and safety of moxifloxacin in acute exacerbations of chronic bronchitis and COPD: a systematic review and meta-analysis.

Abstract:PURPOSE:To evaluate the efficacy and safety of moxifloxacin in acute exacerbations of chronic bronchitis (AECB) and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (AECOPD). METHODS:We searched PubMed, EMBASE, and the Web of Science for relevant studies. Two reviewers extracted data and reviewed the quality of the studies independently. The primary outcome was clinical success at early follow-up. Study-level data were pooled using a random-effects model when I(2) was >50% or a fixed-effects model when I(2) was <50%. RESULTS:Eleven randomized controlled studies were considered. There was no difference between moxifloxacin and comparator agents with regard to treatment success in intention-to-treat (ITT) [odds ratio (OR) =1.18, 95% confidence interval (CI) 0.98-1.42], clinically evaluable (CE) (OR 1.13, 95% CI, 0.93-1.37) patients, or adverse effects in general (OR 1.00, 95% CI, 0.86-1.17). Moxifloxacin was associated with better microbiological success (OR 1.45; 95% CI, 1.14-1.85). CONCLUSIONS:Moxifloxacin was as clinically equivalent and bacteriologically superior to the antibiotic regimens routinely used in patients with AECB and AECOPD. Moxifloxacin therapy may be a promising and safe alternative to empirical treatment for AECB and AECOPD.

Abstract:OBJECTIVE To evaluate the efficacy and safety of pazufloxacin and levofloxacin in the treatment of bacterial infections.METHODS A randomized multicenter clinical trial was conducted for the treatment of patients with respiratory tract and urinary tract infection,While an opened trial was conducted for skin soft-tissue infections.RESULTS In randomized study,243 patients were enrolled in PerProtocol analyse,The results showed that the overall cure rates were 65.25% for pazufloxacin group and 66.40% for levofloxacin group,the efficacy rates were 93.22% and 96.00%,respectively.The incidence of adverse reaction was 10.32% and 7.63%,respectively.The results showed that there was no statistical difference between the two groups(P>0.05);In opened study,29 patients were enrolled in Per-Protocol analyse,The overall cure rates and efficacy rates were 51.72% and 86.21%.The incidence of adverse reaction was 3.33%.CONCLUSION Pazufloxacin injection is effective and safe for the treatment of bacterial infections.
Sequential moxifloxacin therapy in hospitalized patients with community-acquired pneumonia

Abstract:Objective To evaluate the efficacy and safety of sequential moxifloxacin therapy in treatment of hospitalized patients with community-acquired pneumonia(CAP).Methods The 186 patients with community-acquired pneumonia who were hospitalized during January 2009 and December 2010 were randomized to receive two different moxifloxacin regimens.The patients in the control group received moxifloxacin by intravenous infusion,400 mg once daily for 7-10 days.The patients in sequential therapy group received moxifloxacin by intravenous infusion 400 mg once daily for 3-5 days,followed by oral administration at the same dose.The total treatment duration was also 7-14 days.Results Eighty-six patients in sequential group and 88 patients in control group completed the study.No serious adverse drug reaction was reported in either group.The safety profile did not show any significant difference between the two groups(P>0.05).The clinical efficacy rate was 87.2%in sequential group, and 89.8%in the control group.The bacterial eradication rate was 92.1%in sequential group and 95.7%in the control group, respectively.Comparison between groups did not show any significant difference(P>0.05).Conclusions Moxifloxacin is effective and safe in the treatment of local hospitalized CAP patients.The sequential therapy is similar to full intravenous therapy. It may be a useful alternative therapy for those CAP patients who can take the drug orally.

Abstract:OBJECTIVE:To investigate the effectiveness, safety, and tolerability of moxifloxacin (MXF) (intravenous [IV] or sequential therapy [IV followed by oral]) under daily treatment conditions in a large number of patients with respiratory tract infections.DESIGN:Patients with a diagnosis of respiratory tract infection should be treated with MXF IV and/or tablets 400 mg once daily for a duration at the physician's discretion. For each patient, the physician documented data at an initial visit and at the end of therapy (EOT) visit and/or, in the case of sequential therapy, an interim visit when the patient switched to oral treatment.RESULTS:A total of 1953 patients treated with MXF were documented and were valid for an effectiveness and safety evaluation. An improvement was observed in 98.1% (n = 1911/1949) of patients treated with MXF. Recovery was documented in 89.9% (n = 1754/1951) of the patients. At the EOT visit, severity of infection was assessed to be "relieved" or at least "improved" in 96.5% (n = 1873/1940) of the patients. Physicians assessed overall effectiveness as "good" or "very good" in 93.3% (n = 1822/1953) of all patients. The physicians' overall tolerability rating was "very good" or "good" in 93.5% (n = 1827/1953) of all patients. The incidence rates of adverse events (AEs) and adverse drug reactions (ADRs) were 0.72% (n = 14) and 0.67% (n = 13), respectively. One serious AE "falling white blood cell count" occurred (0.05%), which was also defined as a serious ADR and resolved.CONCLUSION:MXF was generally well tolerated and highly effective in the treatment of different respiratory tract infections. The incidence of AEs and ADRs was low. The efficacy, safety, and tolerability information collected in this study confirms the clinical safety profile of MXF and its value as antibiotic treatment for respiratory tract infections.

Abstract:Background: The American College of Cardiology/American Heart Association (ACC/AHA) publishes recommendations for cardiac assessment of patients undergoing noncardiac surgery with the intent of promoting evidence-based, efficient preoperative screening and management. We sought to study the impact of guideline implementation for cardiac risk assessment in a general internal medicine preoperative clinic. Methods: The study was an observational cohort study of consecutive patients being evaluated in an outpatient preoperative evaluation clinic before and after implementation of the ACC/AHA guideline. Data was gathered by retrospective abstraction of hospital and clinic charts using standard definitions. 299 patients were reviewed prior to guideline implementation and their care compared to 339 consecutive patients after the guideline was implemented in the clinic. Results: Guideline implementation led to a reduction in exercise stress testing (30.8% before, 16.2% after; p < 0.001) and hospital length of stay (6.5 days before, 5.6 days after; p = 0.055). β-Blocker therapy increased after the intervention (15.7% before; 34.5% after; p < 0.001) and preoperative test appropriateness improved (86% before to 94.1% after; p < 0.001). Conclusions: Implementation of the ACC/AHA guidelines for cardiac risk assessment prior to noncardiac surgery in an internal medicine preoperative assessment clinic led to a more appropriate use of preoperative stress testing and β-blocker therapy while preserving a low rate of cardiac complications.

Abstract:Objective To compare curative effects between β-lactam plus macrolides and fluoroquinolone alone in treatment of community acquired pneumonia.Methods Retrospective Study was performed with patients diagnosed as CAP from Jaunuary 2010 to June 2011.Results Total of 89 CAP patients were included,among which 56 patients were prescribed fluoroquinolone and 33 patients were β-lactam plus macrolide.There were no significant differences in ages,genders,complications,previous antibiotics usage,antipyetics,physical signs and results of laboratory examination between these two groups(P>0.05).There were no statistical differences in curative effects such as time of fever continuing,time of hospitalization,time of CRP 80% decrease between two groups(P>0.05).There was also no significant difference by PSI subgroup analysis.Conclusion The curative effects of β-lactam plus macrolides and fluoroquinolone alone were similar in treatment of community acquired pneumonia.

Abstract:BackgroundAcute exacerbations contribute to the morbidity and mortality associated with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). This proof-of-concept study evaluates whether intermittent pulsed moxifloxacin treatment could reduce the frequency of these exacerbations.MethodsStable patients with COPD were randomized in a double-blind, placebo-controlled trial to receive moxifloxacin 400 mg PO once daily (N = 573) or placebo (N = 584) once a day for 5 days. Treatment was repeated every 8 weeks for a total of six courses. Patients were repeatedly assessed clinically and microbiologically during the 48-week treatment period, and for a further 24 weeks' follow-up.ResultsAt 48 weeks the odds ratio (OR) for suffering an exacerbation favoured moxifloxacin: per-protocol (PP) population (N = 738, OR 0.75, 95% confidence interval (CI) 0.565-0.994, p = 0.046), intent-to-treat (ITT) population (N = 1149, OR 0.81, 95% CI 0.645-1.008, p = 0.059), and a post-hoc analysis of per-protocol (PP) patients with purulent/mucopurulent sputum production at baseline (N = 323, OR 0.55, 95% CI 0.36-0.84, p = 0.006).There were no significant differences between moxifloxacin and placebo in any pre-specified efficacy subgroup analyses or in hospitalization rates, mortality rates, lung function or changes in St George's Respiratory Questionnaire (SGRQ) total scores. There was, however, a significant difference in favour of moxifloxacin in the SGRQ symptom domain (ITT: -8.2 vs -3.8, p = 0.009; PP: -8.8 vs -4.4, p = 0.006). Moxifloxacin treatment was not associated with consistent changes in moxifloxacin susceptibility. There were more treatment-emergent, drug related adverse events with moxifloxacin vs placebo (p < 0.001) largely due to gastrointestinal events (4.7% vs 0.7%).ConclusionsIntermittent pulsed therapy with moxifloxacin reduced the odds of exacerbation by 20% in the ITT population, by 25% among the PP population and by 45% in PP patients with purulent/mucopurulent sputum at baseline. There were no unexpected adverse events and there was no evidence of resistance development.Trial registrationClinicalTrials.gov number, NCT00473460 (ClincalTrials.gov).

Abstract:Objective:To evaluate the efficacy and safety of Moxifloxacin vs levofloxacin plus metronidazole in uncomplicated pelvic inflammatory disease(uPID) in China.Methods:Prospective,randomised,double-blind,double-dummy,parallel-group study.Setting:Multicentre,multinational study in the inpatient and/or outpatient setting.Population:Women(aged ≥ 18 years) with uPID(defined as PID with no pelvic or tubo-ovarian abscess on pelvic ultrasonography and/or at laparoscopic examination) and not requiring intravenous treatment.Women received a 14day course of either oral Moxifloxacin,400mg once daily,or oral levofloxacin,500mg once daily,plus oral metronidazole,500mg twice daily.The primary measure of efficacy was clinical response at test of cure(TOC)(7~14 days after the last dose of study drug) in the per-protocol population(PP).Other measures were clinical response during therapy and at 4-week follow-up,microbiological response at TOC,and safety.Results:A total of 306 subjects were randomized,including 151 cases in Moxifloxacin group and 155 cases in Levofloxacin plus Metronidazole group.For the primary measure of efficacy(clinical cure at TOC),Moxifloxacin was non-inferior to levofloxacin plus metronidazole(79.7% and 79.7% in Moxifloxacin group and Levofloxacin plus Metronidazole group respectively,P=0.9823).Bacteriological success rates were high and comparable between treatment arms(In the PP population,bacterial clearance rates at TOC visit in MBV subjects was 84.2% and 81.3% in Moxifloxacin group and Levofloxacin plus Metronidazole group respectively,P=0.9227)).For the second measure of efficacy(clinical cure at TOC),Moxifloxacin was non-inferior to levofloxacin plus metronidazole(79.7% and 79.7% in Moxifloxacin group and Levofloxacin plus Metronidazole group respectively,P=0.9931).Success rates were high and comparable between treatment arms(In the PP population,bacterial clearance rates at TOC visit in MBV subjects was 68.4% and 81.3% in Moxifloxacin group and Levofloxacin plus Metronidazole group respectively,P=0.4078).Conclusion:Moxifloxacin monotherapy,400 mg once daily for 14 days,is an effective and well-tolerated oral treatment for women with uPID.

Abstract:Background: Nemonoxacin malate is a novel non-fluorinated quinolone for oral and intravenous (IV) administration. This phase 3, multicentre, randomised, double-blind, double-dummy, parallel-controlled clinical trial (NCT02205112) evaluated the efficacy and safety of IV nemonoxacin vs. levofloxacin for the treatment of community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) in adult patients. Methods: Eligible patients were randomised to receive 500 mg nemonoxacin or levofloxacin via IV infusion, once daily for 7-14 days. The primary endpoint was the clinical cure rate at the test-of-cure (TOC) visit in the modified intent-to-treat (mITT) population. Secondary efficacy and safety were also compared between nemonoxacin and levofloxacin. Results: Overall, 525 patients were randomised and treated with nemonoxacin ( n = 349) or levofloxacin ( n = 176). The clinical cure rate was 91.8% (279/304) for nemonoxacin and 85.7% (138/161) for levofloxacin in the mITT population ( P > 0.05). The clinical efficacy of nemonoxacin was non-inferior to levofloxacin for treatment of CAP. Microbiological success rate with nemonoxacin was 88.8% (95/107) and with levofloxacin was 87.8% (43/49) ( P > 0.05) at the TOC visit in the bacteriological mITT population. The incidence of drug-related adverse events (AEs) was 37.1% in the nemonoxacin group and 22.2% in the levofloxacin group. These AEs were mostly local reactions at the infusion site, nausea, elevated alanine aminotransferase/aspartate aminotransferase (ALT/AST), and QT interval prolongation. The nemonoxacinrelated AEs were mostly mild and resolved after discontinuation of nemonoxacin. Conclusions: Nemonoxacin 500 mg IV once daily for 7-14 days is effective and safe and non-inferior to levofloxacin for treating CAP in adult patients. (c) 2024 The Authors. Published by Elsevier Ltd. Moxifloxacin monotherapy versus combination therapy in patients with severe community-acquired pneumonia evoked ARDS

Abstract:BackgroundWe tested the hypothesis that moxifloxacin monotherapy is equally effective and safe as a betalactam antibiotic based combination therapy in patients with acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) evoked by severe community acquired pneumonia (CAP).MethodsIn a retrospective chart review study of 229 patients with adult respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) admitted to our intensive care unit between 2001 and 2011, 169 well-characterized patients were identified to suffer from severe CAP. Patients were treated with moxifloxacin alone, moxifloxacin in combination with ß-lactam antibiotics, or with another antibiotic regimen based on ß-lactam antibiotics, at the discretion of the admitting attending physician. The primary endpoint was 30-day survival. To assess potential drug-induced liver injury, we also analyzed biomarkers of liver cell integrity.Results30-day survival (69% overall) did not differ (p = 0.89) between moxifloxacin monotherapy (n = 42), moxifloxacin combination therapy (n = 44), and other antibiotic treatments (n = 83). We found significantly greater maximum activity of aspartate transaminase (p = 0.048), alanine aminotransferase (p = 0.003), and direct bilirubin concentration (p = 0.01) in the moxifloxacin treated groups over the first 10–20 days. However, these in-between group differences faded over time, and no differences remained during the last 10 days of observation.ConclusionsIn CAP evoked ARDS, moxifloxacin monotherapy and moxifloxacin combination therapy was not different to a betalactam based antibiotic regimen with respect to 30-day mortality, and temporarily increased markers of liver cell integrity had no apparent clinical impact. Thus, in contrast to the current S3 guidelines, moxifloxacin may also be safe and effective even in patients with severe CAP evoked ARDS while providing coverage of an extended spectrum of severe CAP evoking bacteria. However, further prospective studies are needed for definite recommendations.

Abstract:UNLABELLED The effect of filtering and zooming on 201TI-gated SPECT was evaluated in patients with major myocardial infarction. METHODS Rest thallium (TI)-gated SPECT was performed with a 90 degrees dual-head camera, 4 h after injection of 185 MBq 201TI in 32 patients (mean age 61 +/- 11 y) with large myocardial infarction (33% +/- 17% defect on bull's eye). End diastolic volume (EDV), end systolic volume (ESV) and left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) were calculated using a commercially available semiautomatic validated software. First, images were reconstructed using a 2.5 zoom, a Butterworth filter (order = 5) and six Nyquist cutoff frequencies: 0.13 (B5.13), 0.15 (B5.15), 0.20 (B5.20), 0.25 (B5.25), 0.30 (B5.30) and 0.35 (B5.35). Second, images were reconstructed using a zoom of 1 and a Butterworth filter (order = 5) (cutoff frequency 0.20 [B5.20Z1]) (total = 32 x 7 = 224 reconstructions). LVEF was calculated in all patients using equilibrium radionuclide angiocardiography (ERNA). EDV, ESV and LVEF were measured with contrast left ventriculography (LVG). RESULTS LVEF was 39% +/- 2% (mean +/- SEM) for ERNA and 40% +/- 13% for LVG (P = 0.51). Gated SPECT with B5.20Z2.5 simultaneously offered a mean LVEF value (39% +/- 2%) similar to ERNA (39% +/- 2%) and LVG (40% +/- 3%), optimal correlations with both ERNA (r = 0.83) and LVG (r = 0.70) and minimal differences with both ERNA (-0.9% +/- 7.5% [mean +/- SD]) and LVG (1.1% +/- 10.5%). As a function of filter and zoom choice, correlation coefficients between ERNA or LVG LVEF, and gated SPECT ranged from 0.26 to 0.88; and correlation coefficients between LVG and gated SPECT volumes ranged from 0.87 to 0.94. There was a significant effect of filtering and zooming on EDV, ESV and LVEF (P < 0.0001). Low cutoff frequency (B5.13) overestimated LVEF (P < 0.0001 versus ERNA and LVG). Gated SPECT with 2.5 zoom and high cutoff frequencies (B5.15, B5.20, B5.25, B5.30 and B5.35) overestimated EDV and ESV (P < 0.04) compared with LVG. This volume overestimation with TI-gated SPECT in patients with large myocardial infarction was correlated to the infarct size. A zoom of 1 underestimated EDV, ESV and LVEF compared with a 2.5 zoom (P < 0.02). CONCLUSION Accurate LVEF measurement is possible with TI-gated SPECT in patients with major myocardial infarction. However, filtering and zooming greatly influence EDV, ESV and LVEF measurements, and TI-gated SPECT overestimates left ventricular volumes, particularly when the infarct size increases.

Abstract:AIM: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of domestic pazufloxacin for injection in the treatment of bacterial infections. METHODS: A multi-center, single blind, parallel-group, randomized controlled study of pazufloxacin was conducted among 227 individuals with bacterial infections (113 with respiratory tract infections, 114 with urinary tract infections). They were randomized either to treatment group (111 patient, treated with pazufloxacin, 300 mg, iv, gtt, bid, for 7-10 d) or control group (116 patient, treated with levofloxacin, 200 mg, iv, gtt, bid, for 7-10 d). RESULTS: The toltal clinical effective rate was 97.4 % (110/113) in treatment group and 91.5 % (108/118) in control group. There was no significant difference of recovery rate(72.6 % vs 67.8 %, P>0.05), efficacy rate(97.4 % vs 91.5 %, P>0.05) and bacterial eradication rate( 99 % vs 98.0 %, P>0.05) between two groups. The incidence rate of adverse reactions was 12.0 % in the treatment group and 12.6 % in the control group (P>0.05). No severe adverse reactions were found. CONCLUSION: Pazufloxacin for injection is an effective and safe antibiotic in the treatment of bacterial infections in respiratory tract and urinary tract.
A multiple centre randomized controlled clinical study of sparfloxacin in the acute respiratory tract infections

Abstract:Sparfloxacin is a new fluorouquinolone antibacterial agent. A multiple centre randomized controlled clinical trial method was employed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of sparfloxacin against the treatment of acute respiratory tract infections. Ciprofloxacin was selected as the control drug. A total of 124 patients included in both groups, 65 cases in sparfloxacin group and 59 cases in ciprofloxacin group. Results showed that the efficacy rates of sparfloxacin group and ciprofloxacin group were 92.3% and 83.1% respectively, the therapeutic efficacy of sparfloxacin group was superior to ciprofloxacin group against the infection of respiratory tract systems, there were significant difference between the two groups (P<0.05). The bacterial clearance rates of both groups were 92% and 78.3% respectively. The adverse reaction rates of sparfloxacin and ciprofloxacin were 7.7% and 13.6% respectively. The finding indicated that sparfloxacin is a antibacterial drug of broad-spectrum, with potent antibacterial activities, excellent clinical efficacy, little and/or mild adverse reaction, conveniently administered and had definitive efficacy against the respiratory tract system infections.
Efficacy and safety of moxifloxacin for treating complicated intra-abdominal infections: a meta-analysis

Abstract:Objective: To clarify whether moxifloxacin is superior to other drugs recommended in Guidelines for the treatment of complicated intra-abdominal infections (CIAIs). Methods: Data were collected from Cochrane Library, PubMed, EMBASE, CBM Database, CNKI and Wanfang database (Nov.2011). Meta-analyses were performed with the RevMan 5.0 software supplied by Cochrane Collaboration. Results: Six literatures, involving 2372 patients, were included. With respect to treatment success, moxifloxacin group was more effective than cefoperazone-sulbactam combined with levofloxacin (P=0.030), and not more effective than other groups. Bacterial eradication rate was similar between the groups. The overall incidence of adverse reactions in moxifloxacin group was higher than ceftriaxone combined with metronidazole (P=0.006), and not different from other groups. Conclusion: Moxifloxacin is more effective than cefoperazone-sulbactam combined with levofloxacin, and less safe than ceftriaxone combined with metronidazole for the treatment of ICIAs.
