Abstract:Musculoskeletal disorders are common in type 1 and type 2 diabetes mellitus. Among them, diabetic cheiroarthropathy (DCA), more commonly seen in type 1 diabetes, is a late complication that often causes physical and emotional disturbance. DCA, characterized by movement restrictions in the small joints of hands, is usually a clinical diagnosis and bears significance owing to the functional hand disabilities that it causes and its association with various microvascular complications, most importantly retinopathy. A 24-year-old male patient, with type 1 diabetes of 20 years duration, presented to us with difficulties in performing fine motor tasks such as buttoning his shirt and with positive "Namaste" sign and "Table Top" sign. He had reduced sensation on monofilament testing, decreased vibration perception threshold, and a nerve conduction study suggested distal sensory demyelinating and axonal polyneuropathy. He had a restrictive pattern on pulmonary function tests, normal lung parenchyma on high-resolution computed tomography of his thorax, proliferative diabetic retinopathy, proteinuria, vitamin D deficiency, and subclinical hypothyroidism. He was followed closely with tight glycemic control and physiotherapy. In rural setups, DCA can act as a mirror to screen for macrovascular and microvascular complications if not already done routinely or previously. Management includes physiotherapy, glycemic control, patient education, and regular follow-up, with surgical procedures being only the last option.

Abstract:Objective: To investigate the relationship between diabetic retinopathy, neuropathy and low ankle-brachial index in mild-to-moderate chronic kidney disease of type 2 diabetic patients. Methods: We enrolled 875 type 2 diabetic patients who were divided into two phenotypes (with or without albuminuria) and stratified into three groups (stage 1 with estimated glomerular filtration rate90mL/min/1.73m(2), stage 2 with estimated glomerular filtration rate of 60-89, stage 3 with estimated glomerular filtration rate of 30-59). The prevalence of diabetic retinopathy, neuropathy and low ankle-brachial index was compared and the risk factors of renal impairment were determined. Results: Among chronic kidney disease stages, the prevalence of diabetic retinopathy increased from 42.5%, 56.6% to 66.7% in albuminuric subjects and from 29.4%, 33.0% to 50.0% with no significant trend in normoalbuminuric subjects (p=0.005, 0.007 and 0.399 compared with albuminuric subjects in each stage). There was a significantly increased prevalence of low ankle-brachial index (17.5%, 22.6% and 44.4%) in normoalbuminuric subjects but no significant trend in albuminuric subjects. Diabetic retinopathy (odds ratio=2.474, 95% confidence interval=1.009-6.068) was an independent risk factor of declining kidney function in albuminuric patients. Conclusion: The prevalence of diabetic retinopathy was graded according to the estimated glomerular filtration rate declining in albuminuric patients while the prevalence of low ankle-brachial index was gradually increased in normoalbuminuric patients, indicating the diverse underlying mechanisms of mild to moderate chronic kidney disease between these two phenotypes.

Abstract:Objective: Diabetes can affect the eye in many ways beyond retinopathy. This study sought to evaluate ocular disease and determine any associations with peripheral neuropathy (PN) or cardiac autonomic neuropathy (CAN) in type 2 diabetes (T2D) and Charcot arthropathy (CA) patients. Design: A total of 60 participants were included, 16 of whom were individuals with T2D/CA, 21 of whom were individuals with T2D who did not have CA, and 23 of whom were healthy controls. Ocular surface evaluations were performed, and cases of dry eye disease (DED) were determined using the Ocular Surface Disease Index (OSDI) questionnaire, ocular surface staining, Schirmer test, and Oculus Keratograph 5M exams. All variables were used to classify DED and ocular surface disorders such as aqueous deficiency, lipid deficiency, inflammation, and ocular surface damage. Pupillary and retinal nerve fiber measurements were added to the protocol in order to broaden the scope of the neurosensory ocular evaluation. PN and CAN were ascertained by clinical examinations involving the Neuropathy Disability Score (for PN) and Ewing's battery (for CAN). Results: Most ocular variables evaluated herein differed significantly between T2D patients and controls. When the controls were respectively compared to patients with T2D and to patients with both T2D and CA, they differed substantially in terms of visual acuity (0.92 ± 0.11, 0.73 ± 0.27, and 0.47 ± 0.26, p=0.001), retinal nerve fiber layer thickness (96.83 ± 6.91, 89.25 ± 10.44, and 80.37 ± 11.67 µm, p=0.03), pupillometry results (4.10 ± 0.61, 3.48 ± 0.88, and 2.75 ± 0.81 mm, p=0.0001), and dry eye symptoms (9.19 ± 11.71, 19.83 ± 19.08, and 24.82 ± 24.40, p=0.03). DED and ocular surface damage also differed between individuals with and without CA, and were associated with PN and CAN. Conclusion: CA was found to be significantly associated with the severity of ocular findings. DED in cases of CA was also associated with PN and CAN. These findings suggest that intrinsic and complex neurosensory impairment in the eyes, peripheral sensory nerves, and the autonomic nervous system are somehow connected. Thus, a thorough ocular evaluation may be useful to highlight neurological complications and the impact of diabetes on ocular and systemic functions and structures.

Comparison of Microalbuminuria Status in Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus Patients With Chronic Periodontitis: A Cross-Sectional Study

Abstract:Background Diabetes has increased the risk for various other ailments in various organs of the body. This can be contributing to periodontitis also as it is the sixth complication related to diabetes mellitus. There is a bidirectional relationship between both. Given the high global prevalence of type-2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) with periodontitis, it is of great importance to determine the link between periodontitis and microalbuminuria in T2DM patients, which shows early renal disease. Methodology In the present study, a total of 500 patients having T2DM were assessed for periodontitis using Community Periodontal Index (CPI). Anthropometric and biochemical measurements were obtained. Blood samples were estimated for glycemic control tests such as fasting plasma glucose (FPG), glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c), and lipid profile. The subjects who participated in the study were categorized into three groups depending on the albuminuria level. The data were tabulated and analyzed using SPSS Statistics software (IBM Corp., Armonk, USA). Results Out of 500 T2DM subjects, 342 subjects had periodontitis. A statistically significant difference was found in FPG, HbA1c, total cholesterol (TC), triglycerides, and low-density lipoprotein (LDL) between subjects with periodontitis and without periodontitis using a t-test (p = <0.001). The prevalence of normoalbuminuria, micro-, and macroalbuminuria among periodontitis patients was 24.6%, 72.8%, and 2.6% respectively, and the Chi-square analysis revealed that was highly significant. In terms of albuminuria, one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) revealed statistically significant differences among the periodontitis subjects for the following variables: inputs such as the number of teeth, diabetes mellitus (DM) duration, the level of LDL, and also the depth of the pocket. Intergroup comparison of variables among subjects with albuminuria using the statistical test of Tukey Post Hoc found that there is a significant difference between normoalbuminuria and microalbuminuria. CPI score, tooth mobility, smoking, education level, family income, tooth brushing duration, along with the use of other dental hygiene aids was also found to be statistically significant among subjects with periodontitis. Conclusion The study concluded that T2DM patients had a higher incidence of microalbuminuria among individuals with periodontitis. These subjects also had significantly higher HbA1c and FPG levels than subjects with normoalbuminuria. In addition, subjects with periodontitis exhibited a significant reduction in the total teeth numbers present in the case of albuminuria. The longitudinal correlation between DM, microalbuminuria, and periodontitis could be further investigated in detail to explore possible pathways.
Increased Circulating Chemerin in Relation to Chronic Microvascular Complications in Patients with Type 2 Diabetes

Abstract:Objective. Type 2 diabetes (T2DM) is a global epidemic and increases mortality due to its vascular complications. Chemerin has been found to exert a major role in glucose and lipid metabolism. The aim of this study was to explore the correlation between plasma chemerin levels and microangiopathy in patients with T2DM. Methods. A total of 598 T2DM patients were classified into two groups: with and without microvascular complications. Anthropometric parameters and blood pressure were taken. The amounts of glycosylated hemoglobin, glucose, lipid profiles, creatinine, and chemerin concentrations in the blood were determined. The presence and severity of nephropathy, retinopathy, and neuropathy were also evaluated by specific tests. Results. Plasma levels of chemerin in diabetic subjects with microvascular complications were markedly elevated compared to those without. The number of microvascular complications increased with high plasma chemerin levels. Patients with high chemerin levels had an increased incidence of nephropathy and retinopathy. Furthermore, the chemerin plasma concentrations increased with the progression of diabetic nephropathy with highest values in macroalbuminuria groups. In contrast, no significant difference was observed in plasma chemerin levels between subjects with and without peripheral neuropathy. Pearson correlation analysis showed that plasma chemerin levels were positively related to duration of diabetes, serum creatinine, and 24-hour urine albumin excretion, even after multiple adjustments. Using logistic regression analysis, plasma chemerin concentrations were independently associated with the presence of nephropathy and retinopathy, not neuropathy. Conclusion. This study elucidated a positive correlation between increased chemerin levels and the development of some subtypes of diabetic microangiopathy.

Abstract:Background and Aims: The impact of a chronic illness like diabetes on physical and mental wellbeing has been gaining more focus in the last few decades. This study aimed to investigate the association of stress, depression, and anxiety among individuals with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and microvascular complications. Materials and Methods: This cross-sectional study included 315 participants aged ≥20 years with T2DM seen at a tertiary care diabetes centre who were screened for diabetic retinopathy, nephropathy, and neuropathy and assessed for stress, depression, and anxiety using the Depression, Anxiety Stress Scale 21 (DASS 21). Diabetic retinopathy was classified according to the Early Treatment Diabetic Reinopathy Study grading system diagnosed using retinal photography [Early Treatment DR Study grading system] i.e., presence of at least one distinct microaneurysm; nephropathy, if urinary albumin excretion was ≥30 mg/μg of creatinine; and neuropathy, if vibration perception threshold of the big toe using biothesiometry was ≥20 V. Results: Prevalence of stress was higher in those with neuropathy (60% vs 40%, P < 0.001), nephropathy (61% vs 39%, P < 0.001) and retinopathy (57% vs 43%, P < 0.05) compared to those without. Prevalence of depression was also higher in individuals with neuropathy (66% vs 34%, P < 0.001), nephropathy (58% vs 42%, P < 0.001) and retinopathy (55% vs 45%, P < 0.05). In multiple regression analysis, stress was significantly associated with retinopathy (OR=3.13,CI:1.75–5.58, P < 0.000), neuropathy (OR=2.50, CI:1.42–4.39, P < 0.001) and nephropathy (OR=2.06,CI:1.19–3.56, P < 0.010),depression was also significantly associated with retinopathy (OR=1.97,CI:1.04–3.73, P < 0.037), neuropathy (OR=2.77,CI:1.45–5.30, P < 0.002) and nephropathy (OR=2.59,CI:1.42–4.70, P < 0.002). Conclusions: Individuals with microvascular complications of diabetes should be screened for stress, depression,and anxiety so that proper counselling can be given.

Abstract:Chronic subclinical inflammation represents a risk factor of type 2 diabetes and several diabetes complications, including neuropathy and atherosclerosis including macro-vasculopathy and micro-vasculopathy. However, the inflammatory response in the diabetic wound was shown to be remarkably hypocellular, unregulated and ineffective. Advanced glycation end products (AGEs) and one of its receptors, RAGE, were involved in inducing chronic immune imbalance in diabetic patients. Such interactions attracts immune cell into diffused glycated tissue and activates these cells to induce inflammatory damage, but disturbs the normal immune rhythm in diabetic wound. Traditional measurements of AGEs are high-performance liquid chromatography and immunohistochemistry staining, but their application faces the limitations including complexity, cost and lack of reproducibility. A new noninvasive method emerged in 2004, using skin autofluorescence as indicator for AGEs accumulation. It had been reported to be informative in evaluating the chronic risk of diabetic patients. Studies have indicated therapeutic potentials of anti-AGE recipes. These recipes can reduce AGE absorption/de novo formation, block AGE-RAGE interaction and arrest downstream signaling after RAGE activation. Copyright (c) 2014 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

Abstract:Objective: Diabetes mellitus (DM) is an important risk factor for the development of osteoarthritis (OA), increasing OA progression and OA pain. To gain insight into the underlying mechanisms of how DM exacerbates OA processes and OA pain, this study analyzed histological differences of synovial tissues from non-DM and DM patients with OA and correlated these differences with knee pain severity. Materials and methods: Synovial tissue was obtained from 12 non-DM and 10 DM patients with advanced knee OA who underwent total knee arthroplasty. Synovial inflammation was assessed using the Synovitis score developed by Krenn. The Knee Injury and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score (KOOS) was used to assess knee pain intensity and disability in OA patients. The number of mast cells, macrophages, nerve fibers, capillaries, larger vessels and erythrocyte extravasation were analyzed microscopically in histological and immunostained synovial sections from non-DM and DM patients. Association analyses were performed to determine associations between OA knee pain and synovial changes affected by DM. Results: Synovial tissue from OA patients with DM had a higher synovitis score, more erythrocyte extravasation, and contained higher numbers of mast cells and macrophages compared to non-DM patients. The number of capillaries and vessels in the lining/sublining layer of the synovial tissue was reduced in DM patients. OA patients with DM had more severe knee pain compared to non-DM patients. The KOOS pain score was associated with the synovitis score, the number of tissue macrophages, and the number of mast cells in the synovial tissue (adjusted for age, sex, and BMI). In addition, the erythrocyte extravasation score was associated with the KOOS pain score and with the synovitis score. Conclusion: The study suggests that increased OA progression and pain severity in patients with DM result from more pronounced synovitis and synovial vascular leakage and increased infiltration of macrophages and mast cells.

[Macrovascular and microvascular complications in type 2 diabetes patients]

Abstract:The prevalence of chronic vascular complications is higher in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM2). The objective of our cross-sectional study was to assess the incidence and types of macrovascular (MVC) and microvascular (mvc) complications and to analyse their relation to the different risk factors and biomarkers in order to improve their prevention. Set of patients and methodology: 415 patients (219 men and 196 women) with an average age of 66 +/- 9 years enrolled in the study. A total of 95% of patients with DM2 had a history of hypertension, 27% had MVC (of which 55% had ischaemic heart disease), and 54% had mvc (ofwhich 95% had diabetic nephropathy). Results: The patients with vascular complications were significantly older and had a longer history of DM2; they did not differ for their systolic blood pressure, but had a higher pulse pressure and took more antihypertensives. They did not differ for their lipid levels or the respective therapy. Diabetic patients with MVC and mvc had higher insulin resistance, higher plasmatic levels of total homocysteine and a higher incidence ofalbuminuria or proteinuria. The factors which significantly and independently associated with MVC were male gender, age over 60 years, higher hs-C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) exceeding 1 mg/l, glycaemia over 5.6 mmol/l, lower diastolic blood pressure and lower HDL-cholesterol; mvc associated with higher age over 60 years, a history of DM2 exceeding 8 years, and hs-CRP above 1 mg/l. Conclusion: Our results show that patients with DM2 have a high incidence ofvascular complications significantly associated with age, DM2 history and higher hs-CRP, irrespective of the other monitored parametres.

Abstract:One of the most common micro vascular complications of diabetes is diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN). The well-recognized risk factors for DPN are hyperglycemia, dyslipidemia, and hypertension. DPN is associated with a high mortality rate and poor prognosis. Its pathogenesis is not fully understood, and clinical treatment is focused on relieving its clinical symptoms, as well as improving blood sugar control and cardiovascular risk factors. DPN and its clinically effective treatments need to be studied. Microvascular complications of diabetes present a significant challenge due to their diverse presentations, significant morbidity, and as strong predictors of cardiovascular disease. Prevention and management strategies should focus on lifestyle modification, education and awareness, systematic screening for early complications, and intensive management of modifiable risk factors. There was an association between DPN and DKD as well as CVD, BMI and age demonstrated. These may indicate that in case of having one diabetes complication diagnosed, it is important to screen for others, including macrovascular ones, as they may be undiagnosed due to their "silent" nature. Further studies are expected to strengthen basic research on the subject, reveal modern medical mechanisms, and provide fresh ideas and innovative methods for the treatment of DPN.

Abstract:<p>This review investigated the association of periodontal disease with diabetes mellitus (DM) and diabetic complications. PubMed/MEDLINE was searched including search terms "periodontal" OR "periodontitis" AND "diabetic complications" OR "diabetic retinopathy" OR "diabetic nephropathy" OR "diabetic neuropathy" OR "cardiovascular disease diabetes" OR "myocardial infarction diabetes" OR "cerebrovascular disease diabetes" OR "stroke diabetes" OR "peripheral vascular disease diabetes". Fourteen studies included in this review consistently reported an increased risk for diabetic complications including microvascular, macrovascular and death in the presence of periodontal disease. Higher risks for diabetic retinopathy (odds ratios: 2.8 - 8.7), neuropathy (3.2 - 6.6), nephropathy (1.9 - 8.5), cardiovascular complications (1.28 - 17.7) and mortality (2.3 - 8.5) were reported for people with diabetes with periodontitis compared to those with diabetes who have no periodontitis. This novel review summarizes current data providing further evidence of a link between poor oral health and DM and its complications. It has also drawn attention to major limitations of the available data linking periodontal disease and diabetic complications.</p>

Abstract:Background Accumulation of advanced glycation end products (AGEs) is thought to contribute to limited joint mobility in people with diabetes mellitus (DM), but the relationships among AGEs, shoulder structural changes, movement, and disability are not understood. Objective The purpose of this study was to determine the differences and relationships among skin intrinsic fluorescence (SIF), a proxy measure of AGEs, biceps and supraspinatus tendon thickness, upper extremity movement, and disability in groups with and without DM. Design This was a cross-sectional, case-control study. Methods Fifty-two individuals participated: 26 with type 2 DM and 26 controls matched for sex, age, and body mass index. The main outcome measures were: SIF; biceps and supraspinatus tendon thickness; 3-dimensional peak shoulder motion; and Disability of the Arm, Shoulder and Hand (DASH) questionnaire scores. Results Mean SIF measurements were 19% higher in the DM group compared with the control group (P<.05). Biceps tendons (mean and 95% confidence interval [CI]) (4.7 mm [4.4, 5.0] versus 3.2 mm [2.9, 3.5]) and supraspinatus tendons (6.4 mm [5.9, 6.8] versus 4.9 mm [4.4, 5.3]) were thicker and peak humerothoracic elevation (139° [135°, 146°] versus 150° [146°, 155°]) and glenohumeral external rotation (35° [26°, 46°] versus 51° [41°, 58°]) were reduced in the DM group compared with the control group (P<.05). In the DM group, SIF was correlated to biceps tendon thickness, DASH score, and shoulder motion (r=.44–.51, P<.05). The SIF score and shoulder strength explained 64% of the DASH scores (P<.01). Limitations Because this was a cross-sectional study design, a cause-effect relationship could not be established. Conclusions Accumulation of AGEs in the connective tissues of individuals with DM appears to be associated with increased tendon thickness and decreased shoulder joint mobility and upper extremity function. Physical therapists should be aware of these possible metabolic effects on structure, movement, and disability when treating people with diabetes.
Prevalence of Microvascular Complications and Associated Risk Factors among Diabetes Mellitus Patients attending Nyeri County Referral Hospital, Kenya: a cross-sectional Study

Abstract:Microvascular complications are one of the major causes of morbidity and mortality worldwide among patients with diabetes mellitus (DM). In Kenya, Nyeri County has the highest prevalence of diabetes mellitus compared to other counties. More than 50% of Nyeri County Referral Hospital (NCRH) admissions result from non-communicable diseases (NCDs) and over 55% of hospital deaths are attributable to NCDs. This study therefore sought to assess the prevalence of microvascular complications and the associated risk factors among patients attending Nyeri County Referral Hospital in Kenya. A hospital-based cross-sectional study was conducted on 314 DM patients on follow-up at NCRH from August 2022 to October 2022. The socio-demographic, anthropometric, biochemical, and clinical data were recorded using a structured survey. All the recruited patients underwent an extensive examination for the presence of Microvascular complications like neuropathy, retinopathy, and nephropathy. Data were analyzed using STATA version 17. Univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses are used to determine the risk factors associated with Microvascular complications of DM. Among the 314 patients with DM, 58% were women. The overall prevalence of Microvascular complications (MVCs) is 36.62%. Diabetic peripheral neuropathy was the most frequent complication (27.4%), followed by retinopathy (10.8%) and nephropathy (8%). Inadequate physical exercise was a risk factor for all MVCs. Age, marital status, and level of education were risk factors for neuropathy while smoking and alcohol intake were risk factors for nephropathy. Additionally marital status was a risk factor for retinopathy. Further, the analysis revealed the risk of non-smokers getting neuropathy reduced by 98% compared to smokers (P-0.0001; CI 0.003058-0.191502). lack of regular physical exercise was significantly associated with retinopathy (P 0.012; CI 0.046816-0.690638). One in ten patients with DM had a microvascular complication. The benefits of microvascular complications prevention should thus be factored into the management of patients with diabetes mellitus.

Abstract:Purpose The aim of this study was to evaluate the changes in retinal vascular plexuses and choriocapillaris in type-2 diabetes mellitus (DM) patients without clinical diabetic retinopathy (DR) and to compare them with healthy controls and to identify early preclinical biomarkers for DR using optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA). Patients and methods This is a prospective cross-sectional study that included 68 eyes (34 eyes of type-2 diabetic patients without DR and 34 eyes of healthy controls). Using OCTA, the vessel density (VD) in the superficial and deep capillary plexuses, macular thickness, foveal avascular zone (FAZ) area, and choriocapillaris flow area were measured. The OCTA morphological findings in diabetic patients were noted. In addition, the correlations between OCTA and glycosylated hemoglobin and diabetes duration were evaluated. Results There was a statistically significant decrease in the parafoveal macular thickness in the diabetic group compared with the control group (the superior–hemi parafoveal thickness was 310.94±10.84 vs. 321.71±11.2 μm, respectively, P=0.001, while the inferior–hemi parafoveal thickness was 304.71±11.04 vs. 320.82±11.25 μm, respectively, P=0.001). There was no statistically significant difference in the parafoveal and perifoveal superficial capillary plexus and DCP VD in the diabetic patients compared with the controls. In addition, there was no change in the FAZ area between the two groups, but there was a significant difference regarding the FAZ irregularity (P=0.00). Microaneurysms (100%), capillary nonperfusion (94%), capillary loop (17.6%), enlarged perifoveal intercapillary spaces (17.6%), punched-out FAZ (12%), lost spider web (6%), and capillary blind end (6%) were detected in the diabetic patients. A negative significant correlation was found between the parafoveal thickness and glycosylated hemoglobin in the DM group in the inferior–hemi thickness (r=−0.61, P=0.01), and between DM duration and VD in the DCP in the parafoveal and perifoveal areas (r=−0.55, P=0.06 and r=0.62, P=0.018, respectively). Conclusion OCTA can be used to diagnose preclinical maculopathy/retinopathy in diabetic patients using the parafoveal retinal thickness, DCP VD, FAZ irregularities, quantification of microaneurysms, and choriocapillaris flow area as biomarkers.
Serum vitamin D and diabetic foot complications

Abstract:ABSTRACT Background : Foot complications such as ulceration and neuropathy are common complications of diabetes mellitus (DM). Previous reports have demonstrated a possible increased risk of these complications in diabetic patients with low levels of serum vitamin D. Objectctive : The purpose of this study is to compare serum vitamin D levels in diabetic patients with and without Charcot neuroarthropathy (CN), peripheral arterial disease (PAD), infection (DFI), ulceration (DFU), and peripheral neuropathy (DPN). Design : A retrospective chart review of all patients undergoing foot and ankle surgery with a history of DM over a 13 month period was performed. From this cohort, fifty subjects with CN were matched with 50 without CN and preoperative lab values were compared. A secondary evaluation was performed on the subjects' other comorbidities including PAD, DFI, DFU, and DPN. Results : Seventy-eight percent of our patients had vitamin D deficiency or insufficiency. Preoperative serum vitamin D levels were not significantly different between diabetic patients with and without CN (p = 0.55). Diabetic patients with PAD (p = 0.03), DFI (p = 0.0006), and DFU (p = 0.04) were all found to have significantly lower serum vitamin D levels than diabetic patients without these complications. Lower levels of serum albumin and higher serum creatinine were also noted with subjects with PAD, DFI, DPN, and DFU. While seasonal serum vitamin D level fluctuation was noted, this difference did not reach statistical significance with the numbers available. Conclusion : We found various lower extremity complications to be associated with low serum vitamin D including PAD, DFI, and DFU. While other studies have questioned the role of vitamin D and CN, we were unable to identify any significant difference between diabetic patients with and without Charcot neuroarthropathy.
