Ordovician magnetostratigraphy : a correlation of global data service

Abstract:Palaeomagnetic studies where primary magnetizations are established from well-dated rocks have been compiled to construct a magnetostratigraphic time-scale for the Ordovician period. An excellent correlation of magnetozones is observed between independent studies of the Baltic and South Siberian platform sequences. Supplemental datasets from other continents concur with the Baltic and Siberian polarity data. Early Ordovician times were mainly characterized by a reverse field. Rapid reversals then occurred during Llanvirn and Llandeilo times. Late Ordovician times were dominated by a normal polarity field. Some gaps remain in the polarity record, notably for late Caradoc-early Ashgill and midTremadoc times. The combination of biostratigraphic, radiometric and magnetostratigraphic studies within Cenozoic and Mesozoic rocks has ided the definition of a high resolution chronostratigraphy and polarity time-scale for these eras (Harland et al. 1989). Additionally, these data can be supplemented by the independent polarity record preserved within the oceanic crust. For Palaeozoic times however, uncertainties are heightened by the absence of preserved oceanic crust and complicated by the increased effects of later magnetic overprinting in orogenic belts. Magnetic overprinting may be partial, or may have fully reset the original remanence. Nevertheless, primary magnetizations have been recovered from several Palaeozoic orogenic and platform sequences for which biostratigraphic age control is particularly good (e.g. Kirschvink & Rozanov 1984). In western Europe, twenty graptolite zones occur in the c. 70 Ma of the Ordovician Period, an average of 3.5 Ma each. Many of these zones can be sub-divided on the basis of conodonts (Bergstrom 1986), local graptolite zones, and on the basis of stages based on benthic faunas. Some stratigraphic intervals may therefore have a duration of as little as 1 Ma. These biostratigraphic constraints make widespread magnetostratigraphic correlation possible. In this contribution, we have compiled global Ordovician palaeomagnetic data in an attempt to elucidate accurately the polarity history of the geomagnetic field. Previous attempts to define an Ordovician reversal stratigraphy have been made by Khramov and co-workers, based upon palaeomagnetic sections of the Siberian platform (Khramov et al. 1965; Rodionov 1966; Khramov & Rodionov 1980). Until recently, these data were unrivalled as a near continuous record of Ordovician polarity changes. However, the identification of a reversal stratigraphy within Ordovician carbonates from the Swedish platform (Torsvik & Trench 1991a) significantly increases the available database. A further problem encountered in addressing the Early Palaeozoic reversal record is that of polarity ambiguity. For example, rocks magnetized near the quator could be interpreted as ither normal, or reversely polarized, depending on the inferred orientation of their host continent. Normal polarity ndicates that the north geomagnetic and north geographic poles coincide. Conversely, reverse polarity indicates that he north-finding geomagnetic field coincides with the south geographic pole. The present study assumes a palaeogeography as portrayed in Fig. 1 for Early Ordovician times. This scenario is similar to that presented by Scotese & McKerrow (1990) but with Baltica rotated as suggested by Torsvik et al. (1990a). Note that Siberia is oriented with the Mongolian margin facing north.
A Study on Promoting the Intensive Use of Industrial Land in China Through Governance: A Game Theoretical Approach

Abstract:Extensive use of industrial land has been typical for many cities in China since the end of the previous century. One of the most important reasons is the local governments’ strategy choice in land use. In this research, a governance structure from the view of the tax-sharing system and the performance appraisal system is constructed to explain the causes of extensive land use using game theory analysis. The key finding is that the governance structure in industrial land use is an organizational structure composed of the central government, local government and the market, and these three participants hold inter-conditioned relationships so as to form a closed loop. However, a bottom-up relationship chain from the market is absent in this structure, which makes it difficult to rely on local governments to implement intensive use of industrial land by themselves. Game equilibrium analysis shows that if a performance penalty coefficient is considered to refine the existing performance appraisal system to help produce a market feedback, the possibility of local governments adopting extensive land use strategies will be reduced.
Evolutionary game analysis on industrial pollution control of local government in China

Abstract:The pollution control of local government to industrial enterprises is actually a long-term, complex and dynamic game process. This study develops an evolutionary game model to analyze the operation mechanism of local governments' different expenditure preferences on the production behavior of industrial polluting enterprises, so as to specify the behavioral characteristics and optimal strategy of local environmental governance. The results indicated that whether the relationship between local governments and polluting enterprises in environmental governance becomes cooperative or collusive depends on their game sequence and initial endowment. Under the condition of realizing a steady state of cooperation, polluting enterprises would advance faster toward clean production if local governments distribute more environmental expenditures on cost subsidies for enterprises to implement clean production. The findings of this study provide decision-making basis for local governments to control industrial pollution.

Abstract:In order to improve the accessibility of health care service, the hierarchical health care delivery system that includes the general hospital (GH) and the community health care center (CHC) has been gradually established in urban China. In this paper, we introduce a game theoretic framework that considers both the influence of static and dynamic factors on patients' choices among health care facilities. We formulate a non-cooperative game with incomplete information and regard the equilibrium of this game as a best prediction of patients' hospital choice results. We implement the proposed game theoretic framework by a case study. We provide quantitative analysis on the equilibrium to study how those factors affect patients' hospital choices. Finally, to achieve the goal that alleviates the congestion of GH and balance the patient flow among GHs and CHCs, we implement two incentive policies in our model, along with analysing their effects on patients' hospital choices. The non-cooperative game with incomplete information model functions as a quantitative tool to help the government decision-maker to improve the patient flow distribution in urban China.

Abstract:Although local governments have issued relevant reward and penalty policies, there are still problems of medical waste disposal in China, particularly in light of the special situation of the COVID-19 pandemic. Furthermore, these problems are generated in the game between local governments and disposal enterprises. Accordingly, based on the evolutionary game theory, this paper establishes and analyzes the game system between local governments and disposal enterprises under four modes: static reward and static penalty, dynamic reward and static penalty, static reward and dynamic penalty, and dynamic reward and dynamic penalty. The theoretical analysis is verified through numerical simulation of a medical waste disposal case in China. The results showed that when local governments choose the static reward and static penalty mode, the game system hardly always has an evolutionary stable state, and the dynamic reward or dynamic penalty mode can make up for the shortcomings of the static reward and static penalty mode. The static reward and dynamic penalty mode is considerably better than the other two dynamic reward and penalty modes, which has the best effect on improving the quality of medical waste disposal. Additionally, if the reward or penalty increases dynamically, local governments tend to implement a “relaxed supervision” strategy, and disposal enterprises will still improve the disposal quality of medical waste. The suggestions proposed based on the research conclusions offer some enlightenment for policymakers to formulate reasonable reward and penalty measures.

Abstract:The study creates a simplified game model to propose a suitable policy to foster a win-win scenario between care institutions and families of the disabled elderly , and to give a reference basis for enhancing the welfare level of the disabled elderly as well as the commercial performance of care institutions. First, we study and synthesise the experiences of contemporary Chinese long-term care pilot cities to offer data for subsequent numerical analysis; second, we create an evolutionary game model to depict the conflicts and evolving patterns of conflicts between the disabled elderly and care facilities in China; and third, we use numerical analysis to investigate the effects of internal factors (cost of care, price of care) and policy assistance (government subsidies). Finally, we utilise numerical analysis to investigate how internal factors (cost of care, price of care) and policy assistance (government subsidy) affect the combination of solutions. The study reveals that (1) the two-sided strategic choices of care institutions and disabled families make the game unstable. (2) The government can influence the choice of care institutions and disabled families by tax rates and subsidies, implying a stability policy. (3) The presence of an evolutionary stabilization strategy implies that government control may have a desirable limit. When government engagement in this market is limited, "professional care, home care" finally becomes the evolutionary stability method.

Abstract:With the transformation of national economy and the adjustment of industrial structure, the development of urban industrial parks in China has gradually stepped into the era of exploiting inventory potential under the background of increasingly strict land control, thus producing large numbers of industrial land regeneration activities. As the combined logic of capital and power is behind physical space, continuous gaming concentrating on space is also behind land redevelopment, the key and dififculty point of which is to balance rights and interests of stakeholders. However, in the current institutional environment, redevelopment gaming is often restricted by property right system and gaming imbalance, redevelopment work facing the lose-lose dilemma. Starting from the basic mechanisms of spatial gaming, the in-depth contradictions hindering the inventory redevelopment of urban industrial parks is discussed in this study. An ideal gaming model based on value equilibrium is constructed to speciifcally analyze two governance modes ofShenzhen and Changzhounationalhigh-tech zones and then point out the main problems as well as future institutional innovation orientation. The study shows that the inventory redevelopment of urban industrial land is cooperative spatial gaming in essence, ownership adjustment and balanced value distribution of which are the key to reaching cooperative agreement and realizing gaming equilibrium. For urban industrial parks in general areas, policy system suitable for industrial land redevelopment and positively-involved catalytic projects can be carried out to achieve the decrease of transaction cost and the improvement of.
A tripartite game analysis of industrial structure upgrading and green development of regional economy: A case study of Shanxi Province, China

Abstract:In the contemporary context, both the upgrading of the industrial structure and the implementation of environmentally sustainable practices within the regional economy have emerged as central avenues for achieving quality development. This study examines the strategic behavior of local governments, capital, and people through the construction of a tripartite evolutionary game model. Subsequently, six different evolutionary stable strategy (ESS) are subjected to a comprehensive analysis. Finally, the parameters influencing the strategic decisions of each party are meticulously examined through simulation. The results of this study can be summarized as follows: First, it is shown that under appropriate conditions, all three entities support the scenario of stable development prospects associated with industrial structure upgrading (1, 1, 1). Second, the strategic choices made by capital and people depend on several factors, including existing profits, future benefits, and the costs associated with transformation. At the same time, local governments show a propensity to adopt incentive strategies. Ultimately, the research underscores the pronounced impact of future benefits, transformation costs, and the probability of success in industrial upgrading on all stakeholders, shaping their evolutionary trajectories and results. In particular, the probability of successful industrial structure upgrading exerts the greatest influence on evolutionary trajectories, while the possibility of government imposing carbon taxes and initial willingness primarily determine the evolutionary trajectory. This paper attempts to provide a new perspective on industrial structure upgrading and green development of the regional economy by combining evolutionary game theory and scenario analysis methods to promote the process of industrial structure upgrading and sustainable development.

Abstract:The establishment of an emergency management system has obvious complexity, and the establishment of an enterprise's emergency management system is influenced by external factors such as assessment agencies and regulatory departments as well as by the internal influence of various factors within the enterprise itself, such as profits and personnel quality. In order to study the impact of different factors on the construction of emergency management systems of enterprises under the current regulatory environment and under the existing reward-penalty mechanism, this study introduces factors such as rent-seeking behavior and economic level to build an evolutionary game model composed of enterprises, third-party safety assessment agencies, and government regulators. Based on the official statistics published in China and the field evidence of enterprises, third-party agencies, and emergency management departments in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province, China. The evolution path of the game system and the influence of the reward-penalty mechanism, rent-seeking behavior, and economic level on the strategy evolution process of the game model were analyzed by numerical simulation. The results show that there is a mechanism of mutual promotion in the strategy evolution of the game subjects, and the strategy choice of each subject shows the following characteristics: (1) reasonable subsidies and penalties play a positive role in promoting the construction of emergency management systems by enterprises. (2) Increasing the rent-seeking costs of enterprises and the reputational impact of regulators can promote the positive evolution of enterprises' and regulators' strategies. (3) Reducing the cost of the establishment can help enterprises establish emergency management systems, but it will reduce the probability of strict supervision by the regulators. Therefore, the government should develop a reasonable reward-penalty mechanism to replace fixed payments to enterprises and third-party agencies with tax reductions. In addition, local governments should establish an information and consultation mechanism and make the system construction and evaluation process public.

Evolution Process of Urban Industrial Land Redevelopment in China: A Perspective of Original Land Users

Abstract:The crucial role of urban industrial land redevelopment in sustainable urban renewal has garnered widespread attention. While some scholars have explored the interest game among stakeholders in industrial land redevelopment, they primarily focus on the government-led model. Moreover, there remains a research gap concerning the impact of government intervention on the redevelopment of industrial land. This article utilizes evolutionary game theory to investigate the interest game between local governments and original land users in the model of urban industrial land redevelopment dominated by original land users. We establish evolutionary game models considering incentives and the combination of incentives and regulations, explore the interest balance strategy, and examine the impact of positive incentives and mandatory regulations on industrial land redevelopment. Furthermore, we employ a numerical simulation to unveil the impact of initial strategies and parameter adjustments on game strategy. The research results are as follows: (1) Under the original land user-led redevelopment model, only two evolutionary stability strategies exist: either the original land users implement industrial land redevelopment with positive responses from local governments, or neither party advances the process. (2) Government intervention is pivotal in facilitating the redevelopment of inefficient industrial land as economic subsidies and punitive measures motivate more participants to adopt proactive strategies. (3) The increase in government support positively correlates with the likelihood of industrial land redevelopment implementation by original land users. (4) The interests and costs of original land users emerge as crucial parameters influencing strategic decisions. This study enriches the understanding of the interests of core participants in industrial land redevelopment and provides valuable insights for sustainable urban renewal.

Abstract:To promote the effectiveness of cross-regional collaborative governance of pollution firm transfer, a stochastic evolutionary game model among three sectors (flying out parks, pollution firms, and flying in parks) was proposed. According to the three policy goals, three paths of collaborative governance were investigated using numerical simulations. Our findings focus on the following three aspects: (i) If policymakers want to urge more parks and pollution firms in the three sectors to choose a cooperation strategy, additional relocation subsidies from superior governments for pollution firms have the most remarkable effect. However, excessive subsidies will push flying out parks to inhibit the transfer of pollution firms. (ii) If policymakers intendto urge parks and pollution firms to cooperate quickly, increasing the environmental costs of firms will play key role. Notably, even if the environmental costs are low, they can still considerably and positively affect choosing a transfer strategy of for pollution firms. (iii) If policymakers expect defection parks and pollution firms to be as few as possible during the regulation process, the cost-sharing mechanism with only two sectors (flying in parks and flying out parks) is invalid. Introducing higher-level departments or other sectors for cost-sharing to escape the current dilemma is necessary.

Abstract:Introduction: With the rapid development of China's pharmaceutical industry, issues of corruption and regulatory effectiveness have become increasingly prominent, posing critical challenges to public health safety and the industry's sustainable development. Methods: This paper adopts a bounded rationality perspective and employs a game-theoretic evolutionary approach to establish a tripartite evolutionary game model involving pharmaceutical companies, third-party auditing organizations, and health insurance regulatory agencies. It analyzes the stable strategies of the parties involved and the sensitivity of key parameters within this tripartite game system. Results: The study reveals that adherence to health insurance regulations by pharmaceutical companies, refusal of bribes by third-party auditing organizations, and the implementation of lenient regulations by health insurance agencies can form an effective governance equilibrium. This equilibrium state contributes to reducing corruption in the pharmaceutical industry, balancing the interests of all parties, and promoting healthy industry development. Discussion: Pharmaceutical companies must balance compliance costs against the risks of non-compliance benefits while maximizing profits; third-party auditing organizations need to choose between fulfilling their duties and accepting bribes, considering their economic benefits and professional reputation; health insurance regulatory agencies adjust their strategies between strict and lenient regulation to maximize social welfare. The paper suggests enhancing policy support, strengthening compliance supervision, improving audit independence, and adjusting regulatory strategies to optimize governance in the pharmaceutical industry. Additionally, the research highlights the role of collaborative efforts among the three parties in achieving sustainable governance. Furthermore, the study conducts a numerical simulation analysis to demonstrate the impact of various parameters on the evolutionary stability of the system, providing practical insights into the implementation of regulatory policies. This research offers new insights for policy formulation and governance in China's pharmaceutical sector, providing significant reference value for guiding the industry's sustainable development.

Abstract:Tiered Healthcare is one of the most important medical strategies in China in recent years, reflecting the idea of optimal allocation of resources. This paper explores the interactive relationships and decision-making processes among tertiary hospitals, community hospitals, and patients in China's hierarchical medical system. By simplifying the complex medical system into two main entities, tertiary and community hospitals, this paper constructs a tripartite evolutionary game model that encompasses medical entities and patients, considering the bounded rationality and interdependence of strategic choices of each party. Numerical simulations conducted further validate the effectiveness of the theoretical analysis. The study emphasizes that to promote collaboration among different levels of medical institutions, it is necessary to optimize policy incentives and management measures.

Abstract:Objective: The performance of government functions is an important guarantee for the standardized operation of the elderly service market. The objective of this study is to explore the optimal path for the government to govern the elderly care service market. Methods: The tripartite evolutionary game model is proposed in the paper, which composed of local governments, private elderly care institutions and the public. Furthermore, three mechanisms, i.e. dynamic penalty and static subsidy, static penalty and dynamic subsidy, dynamic penalty and dynamic subsidy, are designed. Under these different mechanisms, the stability of each subject's strategy choice is analyzed by using system dynamics simulation. Results: The introduction of dynamic mechanisms can compensate for the inability of static mechanisms to bring the system to a steady state. The dynamic penalty and dynamic subsidy mechanism allows the system to evolve to the desired point of stability. The self-discipline behavior of private elderly care institutions is positively correlated with penalties and reputation gains-losses, negatively correlated with subsidies, and not correlated with supervision rewards. Excessive subsidies will promote the collusion of private elderly institutions. Conclusion: Only when the local government adopts the dynamic penalty and dynamic subsidy mechanism will private elderly care institutions choose to operate in a fully self-disciplined manner. Reasonable adjustments of penalties, reputation gains-losses and subsidies can not only further optimize the dynamic penalty and dynamic subsidy mechanism, but also help to achieve diversified regulatory objectives of the government. This study would provide a reference for local governments seeking to develop effective regulatory policies for the elderly service market.

Abstract:With the implementation of the "Rural Revitalization Strategy" in China, it is common for enterprises to go to the countryside to develop business. However, enterprises often neglect the local environmental protection in rural areas while developing the economy to pursue profits. As the end of the national administrative system and the villagers' autonomous organization, the village committee needs to participate in monitoring enterprises' environmental behavior. With this in mind, this paper builds a game model of enterprises, grass-roots governments, farmers, and village committees and analyzes the impact of village committees, grass-roots governments, and farmers on enterprise environmental behavior. The conclusions are as follows: (i) it is difficult for the village committee to promote the positive environmental behavior of enterprises, which needs the supervision of the grass-roots government; (ii) Improving the coordination ability of village committees is conducive to reducing the burden of government supervision; (iii) Farmers' awareness of environmental protection can affect the environmental behavior of enterprises through the rights protection mechanism and reputation mechanism.

Abstract:Abstract Recent years, with the development of China, an incessant springing up of major engineering projects. Based on the characteristics of the decentralization of local governments in China, whether there are local governments competing to set up major engineering projects at the expense of the environment in order to maintain local economic development. From the perspective of evolutionary game, this paper constructs a game model between engineering construction innovation and local government under the influence of local government’s choice of different environmental regulations. Through the dynamic replication equation, the behavior selection path and evolution strategy of local government and engineering construction firms are obtained. The research results show that the strict environmental regulation of local governments and the technological innovation of engineering construction firms can achieve stability at the same time, and the conditions are effective government investment by local governments.

Abstract:Due to the disorderly access to medical care and inefficient use of health resources, the advancement of the hierarchical diagnosis and treatment is more valued in promoting health system reform. Hence, this article integrates prospect theory into an evolutionary game model of the local government health departments, the medical institutions, and the patients in the system promotion of the hierarchical diagnosis and treatment. The simulation shows the specific influencing mechanism of the psychological perceived value of game subjects. Then by introducing the stochastic evolutionary game model, the system promotion under different medical cultures is also discussed in detail. The results indicate that for local government health departments, the amount and duration of financial subsidies are the key factors influencing the game system's evolution. For medical institutions, participating in the hierarchical diagnosis and treatment system is relatively beneficial. For patients, the recovery rate in primary hospitals matters more than the cost of treatment. Changes in the risk sensitivity coefficient will cause the equilibrium of the game system to change. However, changes in the loss avoidance factor do not change the equilibrium and only have an impact on the speed of convergence. With the health departments' intervention, patients in rural medical culture are more inclined to support the hierarchical diagnosis and treatment system than those in urban or town medical culture. Therefore, in order to promote the hierarchical diagnosis and treatment system, this article recommends that more attention should be paid to the regulatory role of health departments and the participation improvement of medical institutions and patients.

Abstract:This paper proposes a two-party evolutionary game model of government and enterprise to solve the dilemma of industrial pollution control and explore the mode of government and enterprise collaborative governance. The local equilibrium points of the game model in four cases are calculated and analyzed, and the results show that government power alone cannot help enterprises achieve an ideal level of pollution reduction, and it is necessary to introduce public power for supervision. Based on the above, a tripartite evolutionary game model comprising the government, the public, and the enterprise is proposed. When the costs and benefits of the tripartite game players meet certain conditions, the system will evolve to a state of equilibrium (0,1,1). Following the current situation of economic development in China, the parameters of the two-party and tripartite evolutionary game are assigned, and the operating path and system's evolution trajectory of the two-party and tripartite industrial pollution control are simulated by Matlab R2016a software. It is indicated that whether the government participates in supervision or not, an enterprise will actively control pollution under strong public supervision, which can provide feasible suggestions for the selection of industrial pollution control policies.

Abstract:The scarcity of land drives urban village redevelopment projects, which involve interest redistribution among stakeholders with distinct demands. This paper utilizes evolutionary game theory and simulation methods, constructing a tripartite game model under the institutional arrangement of bottom-up with private developer funding. This study identifies the stable strategies and evolutionary trends of the tripartite interactions under four distinct scenarios and validates these strategies through simulations. The redevelopment of XC village validates the assumptions of the model and theoretical analysis, suggesting that when private developers adopt forced demolition strategies, although villagers ultimately choose to sign the contract of property exchange, it can easily lead to social conflicts. These research findings can enlighten the government to form a tripartite alliance to smooth urban village redevelopment.
