Abstract:Background: Acute graft-versus-host disease (aGVHD) is a common complication after allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplantation (allo-HSCT), with high morbidity and mortality. Although glucocorticoids are the standard treatment, only half of patients achieve complete remission. Thus, there is an urgent need to screen biomarkers for the diagnosis of aGVHD to assist in the identification of individuals at risk of aGVHD. This study was to construct prediction models for the occurrence and severity of aGVHD using two machine learning algorithms based on serum biochemical data. Methods: Clinical data of 120 patients with hematological diseases who received allo-HSCT were retrospectively analyzed. Seventy-six patients developed aGVHD, including 56 grade I/II and 20 grade III/IV. First, 15 serum biochemical indicators were considered as potential risk factors, and the differences in the levels of indicators between non-aGVHD and aGVHD were observed, followed by evaluation of the diagnostic property. Subsequently, to develop the prediction models for the occurrence and severity of aGVHD, LASSO and random forest (RF) analyses were performed with experimental indicators. Finally, Venn diagram analysis was utilized to obtain shared biomarkers in the two algorithms to construct the nomogram. The model performance was measured by calibration curves. Internal and external validations were performed based on risk score models and ROC curve analyses. Results: Total 12 of 15 indicators exhibited significant differences between the aGVHD and non-aGVHD groups, with AUC values > 0.75. In machine learning analysis, eight features (LAG-3, TLR-2, PD-L1, IP-10, elafin, REG-3α, ST2, TIM3) and seven variables (LAG-3, TLR-2, PD-1, Flt_3, IL-9, elafin, TIM3) were selected to distinguish aGVHD vs. non-aGVHD as well as grade I/II vs. III/IV, respectively. Further, the corresponding nomogram models were established and calibration curves showed that prediction was in good agreement with the actual probability. Biomarker-based risk score model was constructed, which obtained AUC value >0.89 in internal and external datasets. Conclusion: Clinical variables screened through learning algorithm can predict the risk and severity of aGVHD. Our findings may help clinicians develop more personalized and reasonable management strategies.

Clinical Characteristics and Prognostic Factors of Nephrotic Syndrome after Allogeneic Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation

Abstract:Aims/Background Although the incidence of nephrotic syndrome (NS) following allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT) is relatively low, it can significantly affect patients' quality of life and may even be life-threatening. Therefore, it is essential to investigate the clinical manifestations and prognosis of patients with NS after allo-HSCT, as well as to identify potential high-risk factors associated with this condition. Methods We investigated the incidence rate of NS in 1457 patients who underwent allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT) at the First Affiliated Hospital, Zhejiang University School of Medicine between June 2007 and March 2020. Among these, we identified 12 patients who developed NS after allo-HSCT (NS group). For comparison, we selected a control group of 48 patients matched by gender and transplantation time who did not develop NS. Univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses were performed using SPSS software, version 25.0 (IBM Corp., Armonk, NY, USA) to identify independent risk factors for NS. Results Among the 1457 patients, 12 (0.82%) developed post-transplantation NS, with a median onset time of 14.99 months (range: 5.39-48.43 months) after transplantation. Univariate analysis indicated that the occurrence of post-transplantation NS was significantly correlated with total cholesterol (TC) levels at 6 months post-transplantation (p = 0.041), triglycerides (TG) and TC levels at 1 year post-transplantation (p = 0.004 and p = 0.011, respectively), and cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection (p = 0.002). Multivariate analysis revealed that CMV infection (p = 0.004, odds ratio = 15.871; 95% confidence interval: 2.465-102.194) was independently associated with the development of NS. Conclusion After allo-HSCT, NS may manifest as a form of chronic graft-versus-host disease. CMV infection is a risk factor for developing NS. Effective management through the administration of calcium inhibitors and corticosteroids can enable long-term survival in these patients.
Correlative factors of ocular surface lesions after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation: A retrospective study

Abstract:Background Ocular graft-versus-host disease (oGVHD) is one of the complications after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT), which impairs the quality of life and may indicate poor prognosis. In this retrospective study, the aim was to investigate the characteristics of ocular surface after HSCT, and analyze the risk factors related to the severity of ocular surface lesions. Methods 248 post-HSCT patients were enrolled in this retrospective study. Subjects were divided into no lesion group, mild lesion group and severe lesion group, according to the severity of ocular surface lesions. The correlations between grades of ocular surface lesions and gender, age, primary disease, donor source, human leukocyte antigen (HLA) type, kinship, donor-recipient relationship, blood type, source of stem cell and systemic GVHD were analyzed. Results The median scores of corneal epitheliopathy, lid margin lesions and meibomian gland loss were 3, 6 and 2 points, respectively. The grade of corneal epitheliopathy was related to donor source (P<0.001), kinship (P=0.033), HLA-matching (P<0.001), and systemic GVHD (P=0.007), especially oral GVHD (P<0.001) and liver GVHD (P=0.002). The grade of lid margin lesions was related to donor source (P=0.019), HLA-matching (P=0.006), and systemic GVHD (P=0.013), especially skin GVHD (P=0.019) and oral GVHD (P=0.019). The grade of meibomian gland loss was related to age (P=0.035) and gastrointestinal GVHD (P=0.007). The grade of corneal epitheliopathy after HSCT was related to the lid margin lesion score (P<0.001). Conclusions The occurrence and development of ocular GVHD are mostly accompanied by the history of systemic GVHD. While in few cases, ocular surface lesions related to GVHD can be observed prior to the rejection of other tissues and organs. Severe corneal epitheliopathy occurs in patients with severe lid margin lesions in ocular GVHD. The lesions of corneal epithelium and lid margin are milder in HLA partially matching transplantation.

Abstract:We studied 172 patients for development of ocular graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) after allogeneic stem cell transplantation (allo-SCT) from 2002 to 2009. Ocular GVHD was diagnosed in 60 patients (38%), with 27 (16%) being diagnosed at days 100 and 33 (23%) beyond day 100 for a 2-year cumulative incidence of 35% (95% confidence interval (CI), 28–43). The positive and negative predictive values of a Schirmer I test score (using ⩽5 mm as a cutoff) in predicting ocular GVHD (day 100) were 41 and 82%, respectively. In patients with ocular GVHD beyond day 100, extraocular manifestations of GVHD preceded the development of ocular GVHD in most patients (27 of 33, 81%). Prior acute skin GVHD (odds ratio 2.57, 95% CI 1.17–5.64, P =0.019) and male recipients of female donors (odds ratio 2.57, 95% CI 1.09–6.06, P =0.03) were independent risk factors for ocular GVHD. We recommend comprehensive ocular evaluation rather than a screening Schirmer's test to establish the diagnosis of ocular GVHD. Early diagnosis and preventive strategies in high-risk populations need to be studied in clinical trials to prevent devastating impact on quality of life in patients with prolonged ocular GVHD.
Ocular manifestations and quality of life in patients after hematopoietic stem cell transplantation

Abstract:Aim: To explore the relationship between ocular and systemic conditions and the impact of ocular complications on the quality of life (QOL) in patients after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (ALLO-HSCT). Methods: Forty-four patients with severe hematopoietic disease were enrolled after ALLO-HSCT at our center from July 2018 to October 2020. They completed two questionnaires: the Ocular Surface Disease Index (OSDI) and the quality-of-life scale for Chinese patients with visual impairment (SQOL-DV1). Ocular conditions and systemic conditions were also assessed. Results: Eye damage was correlated with total bilirubin (P=0.005), and gamma-glutamyl transferase (GGT) (P=0.021). There was no significant correlation between the overall QOL score and OSDI (P=0.8226) or SQOL-DV1 (P=0.9526) scores. The OSDI and the overall QOL score were not correlated with ocular conditions, including best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA), intraocular pressure, Schirmer tear test II, sodium fluorescein staining, tear film breakup time, and tear meniscus height. SQOL-DV1 was correlated with BCVA (P=0.0007), sodium fluorescein staining (P=0.007), and tear film breakup time (P=0.0146). Conclusion: In some patients, early ocular symptoms are not evident after ALLO-HSCT, while ocular surface complications can be observed after a comprehensive ophthalmological examination. Especially for those with elevated total bilirubin or GGT, regular ophthalmic follow-up visits are essential to diagnose and treat ocular graft versus host disease (oGVHD), especially for patients with elevated total bilirubin or GGT.

Abstract:Background Acute graft-versus-host disease (aGVHD) remains the major cause of early mortality after haploidentical related donor (HID) hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT). We aimed to establish a comprehensive model which could predict severe aGVHD after HID HSCT. Methods Consecutive 470 acute leukemia patients receiving HID HSCT according to the protocol registered at https://clinicaltrials.gov (NCT03756675) were enrolled, 70% of them (n = 335) were randomly selected as training cohort and the remains 30% (n = 135) were used as validation cohort. Results The equation was as follows: Probability (grade III–IV aGVHD) = , where Y = –0.0288 × (age) + 0.7965 × (gender) + 0.8371 × (CD3 + /CD14 + cells ratio in graft) + 0.5829 × (donor/recipient relation) − 0.0089 × (CD8 + cell counts in graft) − 2.9046. The threshold of probability was 0.057392 which helped separate patients into high- and low-risk groups. The 100-day cumulative incidence of grade III–IV aGVHD in the low- and high-risk groups was 4.1% (95% CI 1.9–6.3%) versus 12.8% (95% CI 7.4–18.2%) ( P = 0.001), 3.2% (95% CI 1.2–5.1%) versus 10.6% (95% CI 4.7–16.5%) ( P = 0.006), and 6.1% (95% CI 1.3–10.9%) versus 19.4% (95% CI 6.3–32.5%) ( P = 0.017), respectively, in total, training, and validation cohort. The rates of grade III–IV skin and gut aGVHD in high-risk group were both significantly higher than those of low-risk group. This model could also predict grade II–IV and grade I–IV aGVHD. Conclusions We established a model which could predict the development of severe aGVHD in HID HSCT recipients.

Abstract:BackgroundThere is no method of predicting human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) outcomes in allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplant recipients clinically, leading in some cases to excessive or insufficient antiviral therapy. We evaluated the early immune response of recipients with disparate HCMV outcomes.MethodsThe HCMV outcomes of recipients were determined by long-term monitoring of HCMV DNA levels posttransplant. HCMV IgG and IgM concentrations at 1 week before and 1 week after transplantation, absolute lymphocyte counts, and HCMV-specific IFN-γ secreting cells at 1 month posttransplant were evaluated based on HCMV outcome.ResultsAll recipients were negative for HCMV IgM. Significant differences between recipients with and without HCMV reactivation were observed in pre- and post-transplant HCMV IgG antibody levels, absolute lymphocyte counts, and HCMV-specific IFN-γ secreting cells (P < 0.05). HCMV IgG antibody levels significantly increased after transplantation in recipients with HCMV reactivation (P = 0.032), but not in those without reactivation. Multivariate analysis revealed that except for the absolute lymphocyte count these biomarkers were related to HCMV reactivation, independent of other clinical factors. In time-to-event analyses, lower levels of these biomarkers were associated with an increased 150-day cumulative incidence of HCMV reactivation (log-rank P < 0.05). In recipients with HCMV reactivation, the duration of HCMV DNAemia had negative correlation with HCMV-specific IFN-γ-secreting cells (P = 0.015, r = -0.372). The relationships between the peak HCMV DNA load and absolute lymphocyte count and HCMV-specific IFN-γ-secreting cells followed the same trends (P = 0.026, r = -0.181 and P = 0.010, r = -0.317).ConclusionsHCMV IgG, absolute lymphocyte count, and HCMV-specific IFN-γ secreting cells represent the humoral and cellular immune response. Early monitoring of these immune markers could enable prediction of HCMV outcomes posttransplant and assessment of the severity of HCMV DNAemia.

Abstract:Abstract This longitudinal cohort study compared ocular surface indicators in forty allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplant (HSCT) subjects with twenty healthy controls at baseline and identified changes in ocular graft-versus-host disease (oGVHD). Outcome measures included: Ocular Surface Disease Index (OSDI), tear osmolarity, Schirmer’s test, Oxford corneal staining score, tear break-up time (TBUT), and tear and serum biomarkers (IFN-γ, IL-10, MMP-9, IL-12, IL-13, IL-17α, IL-1β, IL-2, IL-4, IL-6, IL-8, CXCL10, MCP-1, MIP-1α, RANTES, TNF-α). At baseline the HSCT group had higher median Oxford corneal staining score (1.7 vs. 0.0; P < 0.0001), higher tear TNF-α (20.0 vs. 11.2 pg/mL; P < 0.0001), lower tear RANTES (70.4 vs. 190.2 pg/mL; P < 0.0001), higher serum IL-8 (10.2 vs. 4.5 pg/mL; P = 0.0008), and higher serum TNF-α (8.7 vs. 4.2 pg/mL; P < 0.0001). The incidence of oGVHD was 62% and associated changes included increased Oxford corneal staining score (4.6 vs. 1.8, P = 0.0001), decreased Schirmer’s test (3.0 vs. 10.0; P < 0.0001), and decreased TBUT (4.7 vs. 9.0 s; P = 0.0004). Baseline differences in ocular surface indicators suggest a tendency toward ocular dryness in individuals with hematologic disorders preparing for HSCT. Individuals who developed oGVHD showed changes in corneal staining score, Schirmer’s test, and TBUT.

[Effect of Graft-Versus-host Disease on Relapse and Survival in 100 Patients after Allogeneic Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation].

Abstract:The study was aimed to investigate the incidences and risk factors of acute and chronic graft-versus-host diseases (GVHD) and to clarify their effects on relapse and survival of recipients after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT). The clinical data of 100 cases of allo-HSCT were retrospectively analyzed. The incidences and risk factors of aGVHD and cGVHD, relapse and survival were studied. The results showed that 31 cases developed aGVHD of II - IV grade (34.4%) and 14 cases developed aGVHD of III - IV grade (17.7%). HLA matched or mismatched did not show significant difference in the development of aGVHD of II - IV grade (p > 0.05). Previous occurrence of aGVHD was the risk factor for cGVHD (HR = 2.303, p = 0.088). The female was a favorable factor for cGVHD (HR = 0.401, p = 0.055). The relapse rate was lower in patients who developed cGVHD. The development of aGVHD of II - IV grade was the risk factor for overall survival (p < 0.05). The mortality of patients with aGVHD of III - IV grade and mortality of patients with aGVHD of 0 - I grade were 81.0% and 35.7% respectively, there was very significant difference between them (p = 0.000). In conclusion, till now GVHD and graft-versus-leukemia (GVL) effect can not be separated. The positive effect of GVL could be counteracted by GVHD-related mortality. It is necessary to prevent and control the development of severe aGVHD. The development of local cGVHD may be beneficial to the long-term disease-free survival of patients after allo-HSCT.

Abstract:Ocular graft-versus-host disease (oGVHD) affects ~50% of post-stem cell transplant patients and is the only form of GVHD diagnosed without a biopsy. As it must be distinguished from other dry eye diseases, there is a need to identify oGVHD biomarkers to improve diagnosis and treatment. We conducted a systematic review of 19 scholarly articles published from 2018 to 2023 including articles focused on adult patients diagnosed with oGVHD following allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplant and used biomarkers as the outcome measure. Articles that were not original investigations or were not published in English were excluded. These clinical investigations explored different molecular oGVHD biomarkers and were identified on 3 October 2023 from the Scopus, PubMed, and Embase databases by using search terms including ocular graft-versus-host disease, biomarkers, cytokines, proteomics, genomics, immune response, imaging techniques, and dry-eye-related key terms. The Newcastle–Ottawa scale for case–control studies was used to assess bias. From the 19 articles included, cytokine, proteomic, lipid, and leukocyte profiles were studied in tear film, as well as ocular surface microbiota and fluorescein staining. Our findings suggest that cytokine profiling is the most studied oGVHD biomarker. Additionally, variations correlating these biomarkers with disease state may lead to a more targeted diagnosis and therapeutic approach. Limitations include language bias, publication bias, and sampling bias, as well as a lack of appropriate controls for included studies.

Can Cytokine Detection Predict the Occurrence and Outcome of aGVHD after Allo-HCT? A Retrospective Study

Abstract:Background: Many cytokines play essential roles in the occurrence and development of acute graft-versus-host-disease (aGVHD). This study aims to validate whether 11 proinflammatory and anti-inflammatory cytokines can be a candidate for aGVHD biomarkers to predict its occurrence and outcome. Methods: Out of 178 patients who underwent allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, we retrospectively enrolled 32 cases into the pre-transplant cohort and 45 cases into the post-transplant cohort. The serum cytokine concentrations were determined by flow cytometry. The control and experimental groups were non-aGVHD, I-II aGVHD and III-IV aGVHD groups, respectively. Risk factors and overall survival (OS) were also evaluated. Results: In the pre-transplant cohort, interleukin (IL)-2 decreased in patients with aGVHD, and IL-4 only reduced in patients with III-IV aGVHD. In the post-transplant cohort, only IL-4 increased 1.79 times more in patients with III-IV aGVHD than in the other two groups. Patients with gastrointestinal (GI) aGVHD had lower IL-2, IL-4 and IL-17F levels pre-transplant and lower IL-2 post-transplant. None of the other cytokines was significantly different. Logistic regression analysis showed that no cytokine could predict the occurrence and outcome of aGVHD. Diarrhea within 15 days post-transplant is an independent risk factor for the occurrence of aGVHD and a risk factor for a fatal outcome. Patients without diarrhea had longer survival time of 672 (586-757) days vs 444 (229-548) days and better 2-year OS (85.7% vs 46.4%) than those with diarrhea. Compared to patients with aGVHD, patients without aGVHD had a longer survival time of 618 (530-706) days vs 449 (353-545) days and better 2-year OS (76.2% vs 47.1%). Conclusions: Proinflammatory and anti-inflammatory cytokines can provide specific indications for the occurrence and progression of aGVHD. However, to truly guide the diagnosis and prognosis, cytokines with larger sample sizes, more detection time points and more accurate diagnostic efficacy need to be further studied.

Abstract:The common and specific symptom dimensions of anxiety and depression proposed by the tripartite (L.A. Clark & D. Watson, 1991 c) and cognitive (A.T. Beck, 1976, 1987) models were investigated in 844 psychiatric outpatients and 420 undergraduates. Principal-factor analyses with oblique rotations performed on the 42 items of the Beck Depression Inventory and Beck Anxiety Inventory for both samples revealed that there were 2 correlated factors. Depression and Anxiety. Second-order factor analyses of the interfactor correlation matrices indicated a large general distress or negative affect factor underlying the relationship between the 2 first-order factors. Specific depression and anxiety dimensions were apparent even after we controlled for negative affect. The results were consistent with both the tripartite and cognitive models, with the cognitive and motivational symptoms specific to depression and the physiological arousal symptoms unique to anxiety.
Risk Factors for Acute Graft-Versus-Host Disease after Allogeneic Haematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation: A Single-Center Experience.

Abstract:BACKGROUND Acute graft-versus-host disease (aGVHD) remains the most common and challenging complication after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT). An important obstacle to the therapeutic effect of aGVHD is the inability to identify risk factors for an individual patient at the onset of symptoms. We performed a retrospective study with the aim of defining clinically meaningful pre-transplantation risk factors for grades II-IV aGVHD patients. MATERIAL AND METHODS To identify pre-transplantation risk factors for grades II-IV aGVHD after allo-HSCT, we performed a retrospective study in 292 patients who underwent allo-HSCT at our center from January 2010 to July 2015. RESULTS The cumulative incidence of grades II-IV aGVHD was 36.6±2.8%. The most common target organ of aGVHD was the skin (46.7%), followed by the gastrointestinal tract (29.9%). The risk factors we identified included HLA-mismatched related donors (odds ratio [OR], 3.21; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.82-5.67) and conditioning regimens containing TBI but no ATG (OR, 2.66; 95% CI, 1.40-5.06). Simultaneously, transplantation with an identical sibling donor (OR, 0.31; 95% CI, 0.18-0.55) and the use of ATG in the conditioning regimen containing TBI (OR 0.37; 95% CI, 0.15-0.93) were two factors found to be associated with a decreased risk of grades II-IV aGVHD. CONCLUSIONS Our study suggests that pre-transplantation characteristics of donor and recipient play an important role in identifying patients at high risk for grades II-IV aGVHD, which provide a direction for the prevention and treatment of aGVHD in the future.
Development and validation of a nomogram model to predict primary graft dysfunction in patients after lung transplantation based on the clinical factors

Abstract:Background: Primary graft dysfunction (PGD), a significant complication that can affect patients' prognosis and quality of life, develops within 72 h post lung transplantation (LTx). Early detection and prevention of PGD should be given special consideration. The purpose of this study was to create a clinical prediction model to forecast the occurrence of PGD. Methods: We collected information on 622 LTx patients from Wuxi People's Hospital from 2016 to 2020 and used the data to construct the prediction model. Information on 224 patients from 2021 to June 2022 was used for external validation. We used LASSO regression for variable screening. A nomogram was developed for model presentation. Distinctness, fit, and calibration were used to evaluate the performance of the model. Results: Subjects with respiratory failure, who received fresh frozen plasma, donor age, donor gender, donor mechanism of death, donor smoking, donor ventilator use time, and donor PaO 2/FiO 2 ratio were independent predictor variables for the occurrence of PGD. The area under the curve of the nomogram was .779. The Hosmer-Lemeshow test showed a good model fit (P = .158). The calibration curve of the nomogram is fairly close to the ideal diagonal. Moreover, the decision curve analysis revealed a positive net benefit of the model. External validation also confirmed the reliability of the model. Conclusions: The nomogram of PGD based on clinical risk factors in postoperative LTx patients was established with high reliability. It provides clinicians and nurses with a new and effective tool for early prediction of PGD and early intervention.

Abstract:Ocular graft-versus-host disease ( GVHD ) is a common complication of hematopoietic stem cell transplantation ( HSCT ) affecting up to 80% of chronic GVHD patients, which has a negative impact on quality of life. Ocular GVHD nearly affects every part of the eyes, especially in ocular surface structure such as lacrimal gland and conjunctiva,which results in refractory dry eye.The clinical features of ocular GVHD is similar with other autoimmune or collagen vascular disease which may affect ocular surface and is associated with mortality and morbidity after HSCT.The current evaluation,diagnosis and management of ocular GVHD should be approached in a multidisciplinary fashion in the context of patient′s overall GVHD,and treatment should be given step by step from lower to higher.In addition to common treatment such as artificial tears,topical steroids,punctual occlusion and contact lenses,which used to manage dry eye, both of cyclosporine A and autologous serum also show a promising result.In recent years,the treatments of ocular GVHD have been reached consensus,while the investigation of preventive measures and follow-up visit have been seldom reported.The diagnosis and treatment of GVHD were assessed in this paper.
Ocular screening for chronic graft-versus-host disease in patients with allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplant

Abstract:Objective: This study investigates ocular manifestations of graft-versus-host disease in patients following allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB). Preferred practice pattern guidelines are proposed for ocular graft-versus-host disease (oGHVD) detection. Methods: The Epic electronic medical record database at UTMB was screened using International Classification of Diseases, Tenth Revision (ICD-10), codes for bone marrow transplants, stem cell transplants, and complications of bone marrow transplants and stem cell transplants. We identified 50 patients with the ICD-10 codes that were seen at UTMB between 2000 and 2021. Patients who received an HSCT and follow-up care with UTMB were included in this study. Thirty-eight patients met the inclusion criteria, whereas 12 patients were excluded because they had no diagnosis of HSCT or did not follow-up with UTMB. Results: Of the 38 patients in our cohort, 23.7% (n = 9) were noted to have oGVHD. As many as 89% of the patients with oGVHD presented with an ocular surface disease including keratoconjunctivitis sicca, meibomian gland dysfunction, and dry eye syndrome. Systemic GVHD also was found in 44% of the patients with oGVHD. Only 29% (n = 11) of the study population had referrals to ophthalmology. Most referrals (55%) were made within 1 year of getting the HSCT. None of the patients in our cohort received an ocular screening before HSCT. Conclusions: Many post-HSCT patients lack routine ophthalmic care. Regularly assessing post-HSCT patients for early signs and symptoms of oGVHD may limit adverse outcomes. Management of oGVHD should involve a multidisciplinary team approach.
