Abstract:Significant efforts have been made to seek technologies to resolve water shortages. Among these efforts, seawater desalination and wastewater purification are considered mainstream strategies. Photothermal materials and adsorbents are the main components of solar-driven seawater desalination and wastewater purification, respectively. Herein, we propose MoO3-x (0 < x < 1) as a multifunctional material applied simultaneously to solar-driven seawater desalination and wastewater purification. Thanks to the oxygen vacancies (OVs)-induced localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) and 3D nanoflower-like superstructures, the resultant MoO3-x possesses a high total absorption of 97% over the whole solar spectrum and a high water evaporation rate of 1.51 kgm(-2) h(-1) as well as an calculated energy conversion efficiency of 95% under one-sun irradiation. At the same time, MoO3-x exhibits a remarkably high removal ratio of 96.1% and a high adsorption capacity of 295.0 mg g(-1) for positively charged organic dyes with a fast speed (similar to 5 min), which is ascribed to the surface functional groups generated by OVs. Finally, the photocatalytic properties of MoO3-x can be further utilized to recycle with green solar energy. The high photothermal conversion efficiency of the material combined with its excellent adsorption properties and good photocatalytic activity opens up exciting possibilities in energy and environmental applications.
Encapsulation of MXene/polydopamine in nitrogen-doped 3D carbon networks with high photothermal conversion efficiency for seawater desalination

Abstract:With the rapid consumption of traditional fossil energy, the utilization of solar energy via photothermal conversion to obtain fresh water from seawater or wastewater should be a promising alternative to solve the shortage of energy resources. At present, evaporators based on diverse photothermal conversion materials have been developed, but most of them are still facing the drawbacks of complicated structure, complex preparation and poor salt resistance, which severely affect their broad practical applications. Multilayer-MXene (mMXene) and polydopamine (PDA) nanoparticles are two kinds of materials with excellent photothermal conversion efficiency. In this study, we loaded these two materials with optimized mass ratio into the thermally insulated and low-cost melamine foam, followed by simple annealing treatment to afford three-dimensional and self-floating carbonized MXene/PDA foam (CMPF) evaporators with high hydrophilicity, unpleasant thermal conductivity, and remarkable light absorbance. The evaporation rate of CMPF, as a result, could attain 1.598 kg m-2 h-1 under 1 sun (1 kW m-2) irradiation while the photothermal conversion efficiency is calculated to be 89.8%. In addition, CMPF-2 displays excellent desalination ability, self-desalination ability, good cycle stability and reliable safety performance as revealed by bacterial culture experiment. Combining these advantages, it has been revealed that CMPF-2 possesses certain feasible practical applications in seawater desalination.

Abstract:Solar-driven interfacial evaporation (SIE) is a promising fresh water acquisition technology to address the global water resource shortage. Therefore, solar evaporators with efficient photothermal conversion efficiency and multifunctional purification capabilities are still in high demand. At present, a variety of photothermal conversion materials have been explored, however, there are few studies on integrating interfacial evaporation and photocatalytic capabilities into one solar steam generation system collaboratively. In this work, a new double-layered solar interfacial evaporator (MXene/PPy-ACA) was fabricated by using polymeric ionic liquid grafted attapulgite (ATP-PIL) as the matrix and modified the upper surface by MXene and polypyrrole (PPy). The evaporator can not only carry out seawater desalination efficiently, but also has good photocatalytic degradation effect on organic dyes. The MXene/PPy-ACA achieves an evaporation rate of 1.53 kg m−2 h−1 and corresponding to an efficiency of 92.17 % under irradiation of 1 sun. In addition, duing to the ionic repulsion effect of ATP-PIL, the MXene/PPy-ACA possesses good salt resistance. When tested in 20 wt% high brine, the evaporation rate is measured to be 1.40 kg m−2 h−1. Moreover, owing to the superb photocatalytic properties of MXene and PPy, the MXene/PPy-ACA exhibits remarkable photocatalytic efficiency towards organic dyes, achieving degradation rates of 94.9 %, 67.49 %, and 65.11 % for methyl orange (MO), rhodamine B (RhB), and methylene blue (MB), respectively. The prepared interfacial evaporation system can also run stably in acid and alkali solution, and has a good practical application prospect. This study may offer an alternative approach in achieving clean water via SIE of seawater and complex wastewater.

Abstract:Solar-powered interface evaporation is considered a promising technology to obtain freshwater from non-potable water by using sustainable solar energy. However, research on combining the photocatalytic effect with solar interfacial evaporation technology to go for photothermal conversion materials with full solar spectrum utilization for photothermal and photodegradation capabilities is still scarce. Due to the unique optical properties of MXene, a novel MXene/Ag 3 PO 4 -based membrane with synergistic photothermal and photocatalytic effects was developed from the perspective of practical applications such as water purification, photodegradation of organic dyes and antibacterial properties. In this paper, polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) and carbon black (CB) were used as the substrate, calcium carbonate (CaCO 3 ) and hydrochloric acid (HCl) were selected as the pore-forming agent for hydrophilic modification, and MXene/Ag 3 PO 4 serves as the photocatalyst. The prepared composite polyvinylidene fluoride membrane (PCC-MXene/Ag 3 PO 4 ) with Schottky junction, possesses a rich pore structure, abundant water molecule transport channels, high light absorption ability, and low thermal conductivity, which lead to a good performance in solar interface evaporation, photodegradation and antibacterial. The superhydrophobicity and floatability of the nanosponges in water enable them to continuously pump water, which greatly promotes the dissolution of salt accumulation. With the help of porous nanosponges, PCC-MXene/Ag 3 PO 4 exhibits excellent evaporation stability and salt resistance under 1 kW m −2 solar irradiation, as well as photodegradation of organic dyes. In addition, the PCC-MXene/Ag 3 PO 4 membrane has the properties of self-buoyancy, electrical conductivity, and superior flexibility. Therefore, considering the simple preparation method and fine performances, the PCC-MXene/Ag 3 PO 4 mixed membrane has great application potential in the study of interface evaporation, photodegradation of organic dyes, and antibacterial properties.

A Bifunctional MoS2-based Solar Evaporator for Both Efficient Water Evaporation and Clean Freshwater Collection

Abstract:Recently, a green process, named air-water interfacial solar heating, has been employed for seawater desalination to avoid high energy consumption as in the conventional thermal distillation process. In this work, a MoS2-based solar evaporator (MSE) was designed for both efficient solar water evaporation and clean freshwater collection based on the new process. The MSE was composed of a top layer of MoS2 nanoflowers for high solar absorption and organic contaminant removal, a thermal barrier layer of expandable polyethylene (EPE) foam for floatation and excellent heat insulation, and a seawater pumping channel of air-laid paper (ALP) for fast water delivery to the MoS2 top layer. The water evaporation rates of the MSE were significantly enhanced to 1.27, 1.95 and 5.90 kg m(-2) h(-1) under 1, 2 and 5.5 sun solar irradiance respectively, corresponding to 3.8, 5.3, and 11.2 times faster rates than that of water evaporation itself. The MSE was shown to have excellent stability and durability as there was no decrease in the water evaporation rate during 23 cycles of use within 210 days. In addition, it was demonstrated that model organic pollutants including nitrobenzene, carbamazepine and naproxen could be well removed by the MSE, resulting in the production of clean condensed freshwater. Finally, a real seawater desalination experiment also revealed that the water quality of freshwater could be enhanced by the MSE. This work not only developed a new solar evaporator for seawater desalination, but also extended its application scope from seawater to other polluted water bodies.

Abstract:Solar-driven interface evaporation (SDIE) is a promising seawater desalination technology, which can achieve long-term and efficient seawater desalination in laboratory. However, because of fragile and easily damaged, the solar absorbers are difficult to be applied in the complex and changeable actual applications. In this work, a polypyrrole/Ti 3 C 2 T x MXene-polydopamine-fabric (PPy/MXene-PDA-fabric) was prepared by a simple two-step polymerization method in this study, which can be used as the solar absorber of the SDIE system. Due to the unique physical properties of elastic fabrics, the PPy/MXene-PDA-fabric is easy to transport and clean, making it extremely practical. Meanwhile, the combination of polypyrrole, polydopamine, and MXene photothermal materials also ensures its excellent photothermal conversion performance. The research results show that the average evaporation rate of PPy/MXene-PDA-fabric can reach 1.485 kg/m 2 h in nearly 100 h of evaporation test under one sun irradiation. After 12 h of continuous operation, only a tiny amount of salt accumulated on the surface of the sample, which could be continued after a simple cleaning. The evaporation rate remained stable after eight cycles. Compared with the traditional solar absorber, PPy/MXene-PDA-fabric not only ensures efficient and durable solar evaporation performance, but also dramatically improves the practicability and environmental applicability.

Abstract:Solar energy is regarded as the most attractive energy source for producing clean water and green energy, as well as for photocatalytic pollutants removal. MXene, a 2D photothermal material, has opened up new opportunities in solar energy harvesting due to its unique properties. However, it has limitations, such as strong oxidation and degradation tendencies, that affect its stability. To address these challenges, herein we fabricated a highly stable MXene-PVA-TiO2@PVDF Janus membrane and tested it in an advanced photothermal-catalytic membrane distillation (PMD) system. The modified MXene-PVA-TiO2@PVDF membrane demonstrated superior photothermal desalination flux (1.23 kg/m2h with 99.9% salt rejection) and efficient photodegradation capacity (methylene blue removal rate > 95%) under 1 sun irradiation. The superior photothermal desalination efficiency of the prepared membrane is attributed to the wide-spectrum optical absorption and exceptional light-to-heat conversion characteristics of MXene, while a substantial enhancement in the photodegradation performance is ascribed to the formation of the MXene-TiO2 2D/3D hierarchical structure acting as a direct Z-scheme photocatalyst. The chemical and mechanical strength was significantly enhanced due to the robust 2D network structure of MXene-PVA. Overall, this study demonstrates the feasibility of synergetic photothermal-catalytic membrane distillation and the promising prospects of MXene materials in this field.

Abstract:Multifunctional sponge‐based solar evaporator combines with photothermal and photocatalytic performance of FeOOH quantum dots assembled MXene composites and the superhydrophilicity of chitosan hydrogel coating. The resulting solar evaporator possesses high performance in solar evaporation with evaporation rate over 2.54 kg m−2 h−1 and durable salt‐resistance, coupling with high efficiency photo‐Fenton degradation capability for MB (99.24%) and MO (95.33%). Solar‐driven water evaporation is considered as the sustainable approach to alleviate freshwater resource crisis through direct use of solar energy. However, it is still challenging to achieve the multifunctional solar evaporators equipped with both high evaporation and purification performance to handle practical complex wastewater. Here, a simple and cost‐effective multifunctional 3D solar evaporator is prepared by alternately decorating the commercial sponge with FeOOH quantum dots (FQDs) supported MXene sheets composites and chitosan hydrogel coatings for enabling the solar water evaporation and organic wastewater photodegradation simultaneously. MXene composites allow the solar evaporator with excellent photothermal conversion performance, the hydrophilic chitosan hydrogel coated interconnecting skeleton structures of sponge serve as the mass transfer and water transport channels. The Fenton‐catalytic FQDs anchored on the MXene sheets surface accept the photo‐generated electrons of MXene sheets to induce the organic pollutant photo‐Fenton degradation reaction under sunlight irradiation. The resulting evaporator possesses both excellent water evaporation rate of 2.54 kg m−2 h−1 and high degradation efficiency (99.24% for methylene blue), coupled with durable salt‐resisting performance during long‐term seawater desalination (20 wt.% NaCl). This work provides a simple and feasible strategy for designing multifunctional solar evaporators to meet the potential application scenarios in practice.

Abstract:With the advantages of abundant surface hydrophilic groups and high photothermal conversion efficiency, MXene has attracted much attention in the field of photothermal evaporation for water production, but the drawback of easy accumulation limits its application in solar energy-driven interfacial evaporation. In this work, we present the process of creating three-dimensional macroporous foamy MXene membranes (FMXM) using Ti3C2 MXenes through the sacrificial use of melamine formaldehyde spheres (MFs) templates. In contrast to MXene membrane (MXM) evaporators, FMXM-based evaporators demonstrate exceptional light-to-heat conversion efficiency. The loosely porous structure of the FMXM facilitates a pathway for water transport, while the pleated surface minimizes light reflection. These factors contribute to the high light absorption capability and efficient water transfer rate of the FMXM evaporator. The evaporation rate and evaporation efficiency were 1.54 kg m−2 h−1 and 87.1 %, respectively, at one solar lower radiation intensity. In addition, FMXM exhibits commendable evaporation rates and evaporation efficiencies across various salt solutions, including highly saline brines, which have significant potential for application in solar-assisted desalination processes. The effectiveness of wastewater treatment was assessed, revealing the complete removal of dye contaminants. Our results break through the limitations of MXene material stacking, provide a scalable strategy, and demonstrate its potential in solar driven interfacial evaporation.

Abstract:Melamine foam (MF) has received a lot of attention in the field of solar water evaporation due to its unique structure, hydrophilicity and easy availability. Most previous studies have focused only on either applying MF as photo-thermal conversion (PTC) materials after calcination, or as skeleton matrix for loading other PTC materials. Herein, by utilizing melamine foam as matrix, a composite photothermal conversion based on carbonized melamine foam and polydopamine was achieved through a series of carbonization and coating procedures. Additionally, the infilling of bacterial cellulose prior to the coating of PDA reduced the voids inside the evaporator , thus created more pathways to ensure fast water transportation during evaporation without compromising its salt backflow. As a consequence, very close evaporation rates of 2.28 and 2.24 kg m −2 h −1 were achieved during the evaporation tests in pure water and seawater under 1.0 sun illumination , respectively. Our work presents a methodology to apply melamine foam for efficient solar water evaporation, as well as to guarantee the evaporation rate stability of evaporators in desalination.

Abstract:Solar interfacial evaporation utilizes a specific structure of the evaporator to confine the energy to the light absorbing layer, so that the water completes efficient evaporation on the surface of the structure. In this paper, polyethersulfone- silica aerogel/ polypyrrole solar evaporation membranes (PES-SiO 2 /PPy) with excellent photo-thermal conversion and efficient seawater desalination performance were prepared by loading PPy on polyethersulfone-silica aerogel ultrafiltration membranes (PES-SiO 2 ) via in situ polymerization. With its stable and efficient thermal insulation performance and heat absorption ability, the temperature on the surface of the evaporation membrane was as high as 49.9 °C under 1 kW m −2 light intensity, and the maximum evaporation rate reached 1.86 kg m −2 h −1 , with an evaporation efficiency of 97%. The evaporation membranes also have long-term stable evaporation performance. At an outdoor light intensity of 0.8 kW m −2 , the evaporation rate of simulated seawater reached 1.87 kg m −2 h −1 with a high evaporation efficiency of 131.6%, which can be realized for highly efficient desalination and dye-containing wastewater treatment with the aid of ambient energy. The present work demonstrates the efficient solar evaporation performance of ultra-low-cost evaporation membranes with the prospect of large-scale water purification treatment.

Abstract:Recently, the solar-driven interfacial evaporation desalination has attracted more and more attentions due to the advantages of low cost, zero energy consumption, and high water purification rate, etc. One of the bottlenecks of this emerging technique lies in a lack of simple and low-cost ways to construct three-dimensional (3D) hierarchical microstructures for photothermal membranes. To this end, a two-step strategy is carried out by combining surface functionalization with substrate engineering. Firstly, a silane coupling agent 3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane (APTES) is grafted onto an ideal photothermal material of Ti 3 C 2 T x MXene, to improve the nanochannel sizes and hydrophilicity, which are attributed to enlarged interspaces of MXene and introduced hydrophilic group e.g., –NH 2 and –OH, respectively. Secondly, a low-cost and robust nonwoven fiber (NWF) substrate, which has a 3D micron-sized mesh structure with interlaced fiber stacks, is employed as the skeleton to load enough APTES-grafted MXene by a simple soaking method. Benefited from above design, the Ti 3 C 2 T x -APTES/NWF composite membrane with a 3D hierarchical structure shows enhanced light scattering and utilization, water transport and vapor escape. A remarkable evaporation rate of 1.457 kg m −2 h −1 and an evaporation efficiency of 91.48 % are attained for a large-area (5 × 5 cm 2 ) evaporator, and the evaporation rate is further increased to 1.672 kg m −2 h −1 for a small-area (2 × 2 cm 2 ) device. The rejection rates of salt ions and heavy metal ions are higher than 99 % and 99.99 %, respectively, and the removal rates of organic dye molecules are nearly to 100 %. Besides, the composite photothermal membrane exhibits great stabilities in harsh conditions such as high salinities, long cycling, large light intensities, strong acid/alkali environments, and mechanical bending. Most importantly, the photothermal membrane shows a considerable cost-effectiveness of 89.4 g h −1 /$. Hence, this study might promote the commercialization of solar-driven interfacial evaporation desalination by collaboratively considering surface modification and substrate engineering for MXene.

Abstract:Solar desalination has received great attention as an environmentally friendly and cost-effective way to desalinate seawater. In this paper, a melamine sponge composite polypyrrole (MSPPy) evaporator was prepared by in-situ polymerization of Pyrrole (Py) on a melamine sponge (MS). PPy has an efficient light absorption ability. The large aperture network structure of MS can realize multiple reflections of light and greatly increase the absorption of light. Their synergistic effect makes the light absorption efficiency of the MSPPy evaporator reach 96.97%. Under one sun, the average evaporation rate of 1.886 kg⋅m−2⋅h−1 and energy conversion efficiency of 96.8% were achieved during 10 h. Moreover, the evaporator has an edge-priority crystallization function, which enables it to work for a long time in a high-salt environment. It works continuously for 12 h in simulated seawater with a salinity of 20% without further accumulation of salt crystals on its surface. More important, it can rapidly diffuse accumulated salt into the bulk water at night. This study provides a new idea for the application of solar steam generation technology in high-salt wastewater treatment.

Abstract:Sustainable and energy-efficient water purification making use of solar energy is highly desirable to address water scarcity and pollution crisis. However, it remains a challenge to achieve full solar spectrum utilization with photothermal and photodegradation capability. Herein, inspired by the unique optical property of MXene, a novel assembly of MXene hydrogel membrane with synergistic photothermal and photocatalysis effect is proposed for integrated water purification. The MXene hydrogel membrane is fabricated based on the structure-directing of self-stacking MXene nanosheets and its abundant molecular interactions with the polymer matrix, polyvinyl alcohol (PVA), and the multifunctional layer-crosslinker, porphyrin. The obtained MXene hydrogel membrane exhibits fascinating physicochemical properties combining dynamic hydrophilic network of hydrogel and permeability of membrane, making it a preferred medium for both vapor generation and photodegradation. Moreover, calculation and experimental results illustrates the charge redistributions and coupling interactions between MXene and porphyrin, which imparts enhanced photothermal effect and photocatalytic activitiy. As a result, the MXene hydrogel membrane exhibits an high solar-driven water evaporation rate (1.82 kg m−2 h−1) and a photodegradation efficiency (90.5 %), rendering an integrated water purification capability under one sun irradiation. This work presents a feasible and effective route towards develop of MXene-mediated cooperative photochemical and photothermal solar energy conversion for sustainable water purification.

Abstract:Solar driven interfacial evaporation has received extensive attention as a very promising desalination technique to solve the fresh water shortage crisis. However, salt-fouling and poor stability during long-term solar desalination seriously hinder applications of solar evaporators. In addition, most of the reported evaporators rely on expensive materials and complex preparation processes. Here, we report facile preparation of polydimethylsiloxane/carbon nanotubes (PDMS/CNTs) modified melamine solar evaporators for efficient steam generation and desalination. The elastic solar evaporators feature (i) macroporous network with rough skeleton owing to phase separation of PDMS, high solar absorbance (99%) and excellent photothermal performance, low thermal conductivity (0.032 W m-1 K-1), and (iii) unique wettability (hydrophobic upper surface and hydrophilic lower part). Consequently, the evaporators have an evaporation rate of 1.44 kg m-2 h-1 and a solar-to-vapor conversion efficiency of 84% for solar evaporation of deionized water under 1 sun illumination. Interestingly, the evaporators show similar solar evaporation performance for saline water compared to deionized water. Moreover, the evaporators show excellent salt-resistance and stability during long-term continuous solar desalination owing to rapid water replenishment in the evaporators. The evaporators may find practical applications in solar desalination because of the merits of the evaporators and the simple preparation method.

Abstract:Three studies show that people draw metacognitive inferences about events from how well others remember the event. Given that memory fades over time, detailed accounts of distant events suggest that the event must have been particularly memorable, for example, because it was extreme. Accordingly, participants inferred that a physical assault (Study 1) or a poor restaurant experience (Studies 2-3) were more extreme when they were well remembered one year rather than one week later. These inferences influence behavioral intentions. For example, participants recommended a more severe punishment for a well-remembered distant rather than recent assault (Study 1). These metacognitive inferences are eliminated when people attribute the reporter's good memory to an irrelevant cause (e.g., photographic memory), thus undermining the informational value of memory performance (Study 3). Abstract:Solar-driven interfacial evaporators provide a powerful means for rapid wastewater purification and seawater desalination. However, there is still an immense challenge in interfacial evaporators with efficient energy utilization and long-term evaporation stability due to salt accumulation and intermittent solar illumination. To address these issues, we developed a novel type of interfacial evaporator based on the microencapsulated n-tetracosane and n-eicosane as twin phase-change material (PCM) cores with a SiO2/Fe3O4 composite shell along with a surface-coated polypyrrole layer and surface-decorated MXene nanosheets. The resultant microcapsules act as both a solar absorber and a latent-heat storage material for sustainable evaporation of seawater. Benefiting from a rational combination of PCMs and solar absorbers, the evaporator based on the microcapsules achieved a high light absorption efficiency of 95.4% together with evaporation rates of 2.04 and 4.11 kg·m−2·h−1 under 1.0-sun and 2.0-sun illumination, respectively. Owing to the photothermal energy released by the PCM cores, the developed evaporator exhibits a consecutive and stable evaporation behavior even without solar illumination. Compared to conventional evaporators without a PCM, there is an increase by 0.45 kg·m−2 in the yield of the distilled water obtained from the developed evaporator under 2.0-sun illumination and then in the dark environment. Based on magnetic Fe3O4 nanoparticles in the silica-matrix shell, the separability of the microcapsules from acuminated salt crystals was greatly improved only through simple washing and magnetic separation. Based on an innovative integration of magnetic phase change microcapsules and solar absorbents, this study will provide a new idea and promising approach for the sustainable evaporation system design based on solar energy utilization for applications of seawater desalination and wastewater treatment.

Abstract:In recent years, solar-driven interfacial evaporation desalination (SIED) technology has advanced rapidly, owing to its abundant solar energy, extensive water sources, and low carbon footprint. This rapid development has given rise to new technologies, especially photothermal materials (PM), which provide excellent performance at a low cost. MXenes have recently shown outstanding photothermal conversion due to their remarkable electromagnetic wave absorption and local surface plasmon resonance effects. Photothermal conversion is an efficient way to use solar energy by converting it into thermal energy, which has led to the significant interest of MXene in the SIED field. However, a comprehensive understanding of the application of MXene to solar-driven interfacial evaporation desalination has not been reported to date. This review provides a comprehensive overview of the research progress of MXene in the field of SIED. Firstly, a brief overview of the synthesis strategy for MXene and their nanocomposites is presented, focuing on the preparation of MXene-based membranes with varying infiltration and their performance for solar-driven interfacial evaporation desalination. Secondly, based on the special physicochemical properties and ease of modulation of MXene, its properties are discussed from three perspectives: photothermal conversion capacity, water transport capacity and salt resistance. Finally, challenges and issues related to the development of MXenes in solar-driven interfacial evaporation desalination are discussed further.

Abstract:A carbonized MF/CHT/mMxene (CMCM) composite is prepared with an optimized ratio of CHT to mMxene by physical loading and thermal annealing processes and displays an excellent water evaporation rate of 1.554 kg m−2 h−1, a high photothermal conversion efficiency of 89.8%, good desalination ability and self‐desalination capability for seawater desalination. Sunlight, as one of the inexhaustible green energy sources, is attracting rising attention, particularly with the rapid depletion of traditional fossil fuels nowadays. Chitosan (CHT) is an abundant natural product that can be converted into N‐doped porous carbon which has a strong light absorption ability. Herein, chitosan is employed with the accordion‐like multilayered mMXene (mMXene) to fabricate the 3D thermally insulated and low‐cost composites using melamine foam (MF) as a template. The obtained MF/CHT/mMXene (MCM) composites with different mass ratios of mMXene/chitosan are then subject to a simple annealing treatment at 500 °C for 2 h to afford 3D and self‐floating carbonized carbonized MF/CHT/mMXene (CMCM) composites. The CMCM‐1 obtained with mass ratio of CHT/mMXene at 1:1 displays low thermal conductivity, high hydrophilicity, and good light absorbance. When it is utilized as the evaporator of pure water and seawater, its evaporation rates can reach at 1.554 and 1.428 kg m−2 h−1 under 1 kW m−2 irradiation and the photothermal conversion efficiency can reach at 89.8%. In addition, the CMCM‐1 composite also displays excellent desalination ability, self‐desalination ability, good cycle stability, and reliable safety performance. Combining these advantages, CMCM‐1 composite may have potential practical applications for seawater evaporation and wastewater treatment, etc.
