Abstract:Background: Badminton being one of the most popular and fastest racket sport, demands the players to have different skills and fitness level in-order to excel. Skills like power, agility, speed, dynamic balance and reaction time are few of them. Aim: This study aims to compare the effect of plyometric exercises versus speed agility quickness (SAQ) training on agility, speed, power, dynamic balance and reaction time in badminton players. Methods: An experimental study was conducted in 36 amateur badminton player who were divided in 3 groups with 12 participants in each - Plyometric training group, SAQ training group and control group. All received intervention for 6 weeks. The outcome measures used were a) agility- Illinois agility test, b) speed- 30 meters’ sprint test, c) power- vertical jump test, d) dynamic balance- modified star excursion balance test and e) Reaction time- simple visual reaction time task. Statistical analysis: Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS software, version 24. Paired t test was used to compare pre-post differences in each group. Intergroup comparison was evaluated using ANOVA test. Results: Plyometric group showed a significant improvement in the agility, speed, power, posterolateral and posteromedial directions in modified star excursion balance test and reaction time using paired t test. Speed Agility Quickness group revealed significant difference in speed, agility, all three directions in modified star excursion balance test. In control group, significant improvement was seen only in anterior and posteromedial directions in modified star excursion balance test. There was significant difference between the groups in agility, power and speed using ANOVA test. Further post hoc analysis revealed that plyometric and SAQ group showed no statistically significant difference when compared with each other except for power which showed more improvement in the plyometric group. Conclusion: Both plyometric and SAQ training were equally effective in improving speed and agility in badminton players. Power was seen to be improved more in plyometric group. Hence, these training protocols can be used as evidence-based approach to improve skills in badminton players for optimal performance. THE EFFECT OF 12-WEEK DIFFERENT TRAINING METHODS APPLIED TO BADMINTON ATHLETES ON SOME BASIC MOTORIC PROPERTIES

Abstract:This study aimed to examine the effects of 12-week plyometric, elastic resistance and core strength training applied to badminton athletes on some basic motoric properties. For this purpose, 21 badminton players participated equally and randomly in plyometric (PG), elastic resistance elastic (EG) and core strength (CG) training groups. Each training group participated in the experimental training practice as well as badminton training three days a week for 12 weeks. One day before and after the 12-week period, vertical jump, agility, throwing a weighted ball, sit and lie down, hand grip, push-ups, back strength, standing long jump, 10m-50m speed, reaction tests as motoric features; with the clear, drop and smash tests as badminton basic technical skills were measured. The obtained data were analyzed with paired samples t-test for within-group analysis, one-way ANOVA and LSD post-hoc test for between-group analysis. Values were presented as mean, and standard deviation, and were analyzed at a significance level of 0.05. According to the data obtained in the study, there was a significant difference in favor of the posttests in the results of the vertical jump, agility t-test, hand grip strength test, standing long jump test and badminton drop technique test among the pre-post tests in the PG group (p<0.05); in the CG group, there was a significant difference in the results of the push-up test, back strength test, badminton clear technique test and badminton drop technique test in favor of the posttests (p<0.05); in the EG group, there was a significant difference in favor of the posttests in the results of the vertical jump, sit-reach flexibility test, push-up test, badminton clear technique test and badminton drop technique test (p<0.05). Among the groups, between the PG group and the EG and CG groups, in favor of the PG group; it was determined that there was a significant difference in back strength between the CG group and the EG and PG groups in favor of the CG group (p<0.05). As a result, plyometric training has positive effects on lower extremity strength and explosive power properties, core training has positive effects on trunk strength and elastic resistance band training has positive effects on both lower and upper extremity strength and explosive power properties; it can be said that these exercises applied at the same time can positively affect the basic techniques of badminton. Effects of plyometric training on skill-related physical fitness in badminton players: A systematic review and meta-analysis

Abstract:Skill-related physical fitness significantly correlates with sports performance. Plyometric training (PT) is an effective method for improving physical fitness in athletes. However, its impact on skill-related physical fitness in badminton players remains uncertain. Therefore, this systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of PT on skill-related physical fitness in badminton players. Five electronic databases (Web of Science, PubMed, SCOPUS, MEDLINE, and SPORTSDiscus) were searched until February 2024. A PICOS approach was used to identify inclusion criteria, (1) healthy badminton players, (2) a PT program, (3) an active control group, (4) a measure of skill-related physical fitness before and after PT, and (5) randomized controlled studies. The PEDro scale was used to assess the methodological quality of PT studies, while the level of evidence certainty was determined through the GRADE framework. The calculation of effect sizes (ESs) was based on mean values and standard deviations, and heterogeneity was measured with the I2 statistic. The extended Egger's test was employed to check for publication bias. Eleven studies comprising 445 badminton players were eligible for inclusion. The analysis revealed significant small-to-moderate effects of PT on power (ES = 0.60, p < 0.001), agility (ES = 0.96, p < 0.001), speed (ES = 0.63, p = 0.001), and balance (ES = 0.89; p = 0.013). However, no significant effect was observed for reaction time (ES = 0.56; p = 0.189). The certainty of evidence for outcomes was graded as either low or very low. In conclusion, our findings demonstrate that PT improved power, agility, speed, and balance, but not reaction time in badminton players. However, the small number of studies and the very low to low certainty evidence mean that these results need to be interpreted with caution.

Abstract:There are six basic moves, in badminton. The most every and efficient offensive badminton technique for the player to defeat the opponent is smashing among these moves. Shoulder strength is a muscle's ability to bury the resistant to execute a shoot. Ballistic Six training is given to enhance the efficacy of the throwing exercise and to strengthen the muscles of the rotator cuff with overhead throwing activity to prevent injury to the shoulder. Sitting medicine ball throw test was 335.28cm. Closed Kinetic Chain Upper Extremity Stability Test showed 21 touches. Plate tapping test is 17. 98sec.Training Program- Upper limb plyometric exercises were given. The exercise protocol was divided into three phases- warm up, plyometric exercises and cool down. The Protocol was followed for 6weeks and difference was seen in agility speed and strength. The Ballistic Six upper extremity plyometric training program involves a series of functional exercises performed at high volumes to simulate the movements, positions and forces involved with the overhead throwing motion. In order to take advantage of the stretch reflex, plyometric training was conducted in a ballistic, high-velocity manner to decrease the amortization phase of the stretch shortening cycle. Kim Yew Tiong and Chin Ngien Siong (2019) carried a study on 12-year-old badminton players to examine the effectiveness of Plyometric and Resistance Band Training on Badminton Overhead Clear through 6- week training and concluded that those 6 weeks of plyometric training was more effective in enhancing badminton overhead simple stroke efficiency. Abstract:Abstract: BACKGROUND: The badminton being a highly explosive sport involves a unique movement technique and strength with a combination of speed (anaerobic fitness) and endurance (aerobic fitness). Strength, power, agility, and flexibility are key components of fitness as a part of a player’s fitness training. This training helps to promote recovery from exercise as well as restoring muscle energy for the next bout of activity. OBJECTIVE: The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of supplementary regular training and short-duration sprint-agility training versus regular training on sprint-ability performance in university-level badminton players. METHODOLOGY: Thirty university-level badminton players were selected randomly and divided into Group A as regular training along with short-duration sprint-agility training and Group B as regular training group. Groups A and B received regular training for 5 days for 4 weeks and short-duration sprint-agility training for 2 days a week, respectively. Pre- and postset of performance tests were conducted which consist of 10-m sprint, 20-m sprint, 300-m shuttle run, badminton-specific repeated-agility sprint-ability test, and 20-m multistage shuttle run test for oxygen consumption (VO 2 ). RESULTS: There was a significant increase between both the groups in badminton shuttle distance (Group-A 34.51% >Group-B 13.87%), 20 m sprint time (Group-A 15.02% >Group-B 9.57%), and VO 2 max (Group-A 5.61% >Group-B 3.94%). CONCLUSION: Supplementing regular training with sessions of short-duration sprint training led to substantial increase in repeated-agility sprint performance which helps to restore muscle energy and improve activity performance in university-level badminton players.

Abstract:Background: Exercises including plyometrics can boost lower extremity strength. According to a different study,teenage badminton players’ dynamic balance, endurance, and agility are improved after 6 weeks of core training.The development of core muscles may improve athletic performance.Objective: To evaluate the effectiveness of core stability exercise and plyometrics balance and agility in badmintonplayers in terms of pain using Illinois test and Star Excursion Balance Test.Methodology: It is an experimental study with random sampling technique. Sample size consists of 30 members intotal where they are split randomly into 2 groups (15 in each group). Players in Group A received Core strengtheningtraining in addition which includes Leg-up. Similarly Group B received Plyometrics training along with Leg up.Exercises to calm down were performed at the end of the session. Both the groups received intervention for 30minutes thrice a week for 6 consecutive weeks.Results: According to the intra-group analysis, treatments A and B are equally successful in lowering the AgilityScore and raising nearly all of the SEBT scores for the left and right legs, with the exception of the medial andlateral scores for the left leg. The results of the inter-group analysis revealed that Treatment B is more successfulthan Treatment A in terms of mean Agility Score decrease, whereas Treatment A is more effective than TreatmentB in terms of mean Anterior scores for the right Leg improvement. With the exception of Agility and the anteriorscore for the right leg, both treatments were shown to be equally effective across the board.Conclusion: When compared to Core Stability Exercise, plyometrics help badminton players become more agileand balanced.

Abstract:The study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of strengthening and plyometric resistance training on anaerobic power and muscular strength in badminton players. The design used for the research is an experimental study with pre-test and pos-test measurement. The sample size used for the study was 40 both male and female with age ranging from 18 to 24 years and with the inclusion criteria of athletes who are under training for at least 1-2 years (.elite). Study procedure was started by measuring the agility of each badminton player by t-test, vertical jump and plank test before the strengthening and plyometric training. The subjects recruited for the study were equally distributed in two groups which included group A training group and group B control group. The mean and standard deviation bar graphs were used for the comparison. Comparison between the three outcomes measures done for the training group for the pre and post-test, concluding that there was a significant improvement in the values of the post-intervention level.

Abstract:Badminton is a highly dynamic sport that demands a diverse set of skills and physical attributes from its players. Athletes engage in a variety of movements including running, quick stops and starts, jumping,reaching, and rapid directional changes, all of which place significant demands on the cardiovascular,respiratory, musculoskeletal, and joint systems. The repetitive nature and intensity of these movements can lead to fatigue and potential impairments in physiological functions during extended play. Key movement techniques in badminton, such as crossover stepping and lateral sidestepping, are critical for maneuvering across the court and adjusting stride dynamics. Analysis of motion speed reveals substantial joint forces at the hip, knee, and ankle, with variations in joint angles and velocities impacting performance strategies. For instance, while rapid strokes like the forehand overhead exert high joint pressures, they also necessitate robust joint stability and muscle engagement. Lower body agility and strength are essential for executing varied shots like smashes, requiring frequent lunges and jump squats that impose significant impact loads on the lower extremities. Effective strength training programs are pivotal in enhancing players' speed and power capabilities, crucial for both offensive and defensive maneuvers on the court. High-intensity circuit training has emerged as a time-efficient strategy combining resistance and aerobic exercises with minimal rest intervals. This regimen enhances aerobic metabolism, facilitates muscle recovery processes like creatine phosphate resynthesize and lactate clearance, and promotes overall physical conditioning tailored for badminton athletes. Assessment tools such as the modified Sphygmomanometer for evaluating muscle strength and the Agility T-test for measuring agility provide valuable metrics in monitoring and improving athletic performance. These tests enable coaches and trainers to tailor training programs to individual player needs, optimizing their speed, power, and agility attributes crucial for competitive play. The integrating targeted strength and agility training regimens alongside strategic use of assessment tools is essential for enhancing the multifaceted physical demands of badminton. This holistic approach not only improves performance but also mitigates the risk of overuse injuries, ensuring sustained athletic success in the sport.

Abstract:Introduction: Considering training constraints where badminton players need to focus on many fitness components, it is essential to incorporate training methods that could effectively train power, agility and flexibility simultaneously. The objective of this study was to compare the effectiveness of flywheel eccentric overload (FEO) training (overloaded concentric action) and plyometric training (PT) on countermovement jump (CMJ) parameters, badminton-specific agility and hamstring flexibility following a 4-week period amongst university badminton players. Methods: A total of 36 university badminton players were randomly assigned to the FEO group, PT group and control group (CG) using counterbalancing. All groups maintained their regular badminton training, with FEO and PT groups performing additional interventions consisting of two additional physical training per week for 4 weeks. The participants were assessed on the CMJ, Badcamp agility test as well as a sit-and-reach test before and after the intervention. Results: There were significant pre- to post-test improvements in the CMJ height ( P = 0.001), modified reactive strength index (RSI) ( P = 0.001) and Badcamp agility test ( P = 0.001) for both the FEO and PT groups when compared to CG. In terms of these variables, no significant differences were found between the two training groups after intervention. The sit-and-reach test results revealed no significant differences amongst all groups, implying that neither of the experimental training methods appears effective in enhancing hamstring flexibility. Conclusion: FEO training (overloaded concentric action) and PT have similar effectiveness in improving CMJ height, modified RSI and badminton-specific agility amongst university badminton players over 4 weeks.

Abstract:INTRODUCTION: Volleyball is a fast-paced sport that involves vertical and horizontal projections of the ball by the player. The use of plyometric training is a popular method to enhance performance in players. OBJECTIVE: The present study aims to see the effect of short-duration plyometric training on vertical jump and sprint speed in volleyball players. METHOD: This study is a parallel group randomized controlled trial. Thirty-nine participants were screened for participation in the study, of which 30 were selected following the inclusion and exclusion criteria for the study. The inclusion criteria for the study comprised of volleyball players of age group 18 to 24 years, both males and females, with playing experience of at least one year, and willing to participate. The exclusion criteria for the study included players with a history of injury in the last six months, any reported neurological or musculoskeletal disorder, and any psychological condition. The selected participants were randomly allocated to Group A and Group B using the lottery method. Group A was given plyometric training for three days a week and Group B was asked to continue their regular routine exercises and playing schedule. The total duration of the intervention was four weeks. The outcome measure for the study was sprint speed and vertical jump height. Sprint speed was measured by the 20 m sprint test, and the vertical jump height was measured by the Sargent jump test. The assessment was done at the baseline and at the end of four weeks. An unpaired t-test was used to analyze between-group differences, and paired t-test was used to analyze the within-group differences in the outcome variables. The significance level was set as p<0.05. RESULTS: The result of the study showed a significant improvement in vertical jump height (MD= -7.133, 95% CI-12.657, -1.609) and no significant improvement in sprint speed when between-group comparisons were made (MD=0.084, 95%CI -0.177, -.345) with an effect size of 0.75 for vertical jump height. The within-group comparison was found significant only for vertical jump height in Group A, and there was no significant improvement was found in sprint speed for both Group A and B. FINAL CONSIDERATIONS: The short-duration plyometric training is effective in improving the vertical jump height and not the sprint speed in volleyball players. The specificity of plyometric training is important for optimal improvement in sports performance.

Abstract:Background: Step-aerobics training is one of the most exercise popular which is safe, a low-impact form of exercise, and does not cause any impact on the knee and ankle joints, it is ideal for developing the power of muscle and agility in a change of direction, that is essential for athletes. Objective: This study was to examine muscle power and agility following step-aerobic training in male badminton players. Methods: The study was an experimental research design conducted on a study recruited twenty male badminton players (aged 19-22) who were randomly divided into two groups. The subjects were initially tested for muscle power by a vertical jump and agility test. Thereafter, the experimental group underwent step-aerobic training for 30 minutes three days a week for eight weeks, and the control group continued its badminton training routine without step-aerobic training. After eight weeks, the study tested all groups for muscle power and agility. Result: A group x time interaction for the muscle power of the experimental group after four weeks (p 0.003) and eight weeks (p 0.001) increased than before and after eight weeks (p 0.001) was significantly increased than the control group. The agility time of the experimental group after step-aerobic training for four weeks (p 0.001) and eight weeks (p 0.001) decreased than before and after eight weeks (p 0.002) was significantly decreased than the control group. Conclusion: This study showed that the step-aerobic training pattern in increasing the rhythm movement of 125-140 beats per minute and the 6-8 inches height of step-aerobic can help badminton players enhance their muscle power and agility in four weeks.
The Effect of 6-Week Combined Balance and Plyometric Training on Dynamic Balance and Quickness Performance of Elite Badminton Players

Abstract:The study aimed to investigate the effect of combined balance and plyometric training on dynamic balance and quickness performance of elite badminton athletes. Sixteen elite male badminton players volunteered to participate and were randomly assigned to a balance-plyometric group (PB: n = 8) and plyometric group (PT: n = 8). The PB group performed balance combined with plyometric training three times a week over 6 weeks (40 min of plyometrics and 20 min of balance training); while the PT group undertook only plyometric training for the same period (3–4 sets × 8–12 reps for each exercise). Both groups were given the same technical training (badminton techniques for 6 days a week). The dynamic stability and quick movement ability were assessed at baseline and after the intervention by measuring the performance of dynamic posture stability test (DPSI and COP), T-running test and hexagon jump test. The results showed that compared to PT, PB induced significantly greater improvements in F-DPSI, L-DPSI (p = 0.003, 0.025, respectively), F-COPAP, F-COPML, F-COPPL, L-COPPL (p = 0.024, 0.002, 0.029, 0.043, respectively), T-running test and hexagon jump test (p 0.907). The findings suggest that combined training holds great promise of improving the dynamic balance and quickness performance in elite badminton athletes.

Abstract:Introduction: Badminton is a highly explosive, intermittent sport that requires quick anticipation and response to opponent movements. To execute advanced strokes and compete against stronger opponents, players must improve their basic physical parameters-strength, power and agility, otherwise due to physical demands on the lower limbs, leads to frequent injuries among players. Ladder training, type of strength and sports training, involves performing one or more exercises with an ascending and falling repetition pattern for building muscular endurance and conditioning, to assist players to increase their overall training volume. Aim: To study the impact of ladder training on lower limb power, strength and agility in collegiate badminton players. Materials and Methods: A pilot study was conducted in the Department of Physiotherapy, SGT University, Gurugram, Haryana, India, from December 2023 to January 2024. In the present study, 10Â collegiate badminton players were selected according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria with informed consent signed. The players were further divided into two groups: experimental group (n=5) underwent ladder training for 3 days/week, 6 weeks. and control group (n=5) underwent conventional training for 3 days/week, 6 weeks. The outcome measures for both groups were: Y-shaped agility test, standing broad jump test and Triple hop distance test, taken before and after training session. Results: The data was statistically analysed by paired and unpaired t-test, the agility performance of Group A compared to Group B with p-value=0.001 was considered highly significant and the data between pre and post training the group A was highly significant (p=0.001) in strength, power and agility of the players.
The Effect of 6-Week Combined Balance and Plyometric Training on Change of Direction Performance of Elite Badminton Players

Abstract:The study aimed to investigate the effect of combined balance and plyometric training on the change of direction (COD) performance of badminton athletes. Sixteen elite male badminton players volunteered to participate and were randomly assigned to a balance-plyometric group (BP: n = 8) and plyometric group (PL: n = 8). The BP group performed balance combined with plyometric training three times a week over 6 weeks; while the PL group undertook only plyometric training three times a week during the same period. Meanwhile, both groups were given the same technical training. All participants were tested to assess the COD ability before and after the training period: Southeast Missouri (SEMO) test and 5-0-5 test, dynamic balance ability (Y-Balance test, YBT), and reactive strength index (RSI). Repeated-measure ANOVA revealed that after the intervention there was a significant time × group interaction for 5-0-5 COD test, YBT of both legs and RSI ( p < 0.05, partial η 2 = 0.26–0.58) due to the better performance observed at post-test compared with a pre-test for the BP group [effect size (ES) = 1.20–1.76], and the improvement was higher than that of the PL group. The change in SEMO test did not differ between BP and PL ( p < 0.159, partial η 2 = 0.137), but the magnitude of the with-group improvement for BP (ES = 1.55) was higher than that of PL (ES = 0.81). These findings suggest that combined training could further improve the COD performance of badminton athletes than plyometric training alone and might provide fitness trainers a more efficient COD training alternative.

Abstract:Background/objectives: The athletic performance in badminton players largely depends on the capability of dynamic postural control to quickly restore balance when performing high-paced movements (e.g., frequent single-leg jumps). Our aim was to examine the effects of a novel intervention that combines balance training on an unstable surface and plyometric training on the performance of restoring balance after jumping, as well as related postural control in elite badminton players. Methods: Sixteen elite male badminton players were randomly allocated to either a combined balance and plyometric training group (CT, n = 8) or a plyometric training group (PT, n = 8). The CT group participated in a six-week training program, which included three training sessions per week. Each session comprised 40 min of plyometric exercises and 20 min of balance training. The PT group underwent plyometric training using the identical protocol as that of the CT group. All participants underwent identical technical training in badminton throughout the duration of the study. At baseline and immediately after the intervention, participants completed a single-leg jumping test. The capacity to restore balance was evaluated using the time to stabilization (TTS) after landing; and the related center of pressure (COP) fluctuations were also recorded. The effect of intervention was examined by two-way repeated-measures of ANOVA. Results: The primary two-way repeated-measures ANOVA models showed no significant interactions between group and time on either the time to stability in the dominant leg (D-TTS) or the time to stability in the non-dominant leg (N-TTS) (p > 0.70). Significant main effects of time, group, and their interactions on dominant legs of the anterior-posterior displacement difference (D-COPAP) (time: p = 0.001; group: p = 0.001; interaction: p = 0.014), non-dominant legs of the anterior-posterior displacement difference (N-COPAP) (time: p < 0.001; group: p = 0.003; interaction: p = 0.021) and non-dominant legs of the medial-lateral displacement difference (N-COPML) (time: p < 0.001; group: p < 0.001; interaction: p = 0.026), that is, compared to baseline of both groups and post PT, the COP metrics were significantly reduced after CT. Secondarily, within the CT and PT group, after the intervention, the N-TTS (CT: p = 0.001, post: 0.58 ± 0.87; PT: p = 0.03, post: 0.71 ± 0.11) was significantly decreased compared to baseline (CT pre: 0.76 ± 0.16; PT pre: 0.88 ± 0.13). Conclusion: This pilot study demonstrated that, compared to PT-only, the 6-week CT which combines balance training induced comparable improvements in the capacity to restoring balance after landing from a single-leg jump, and significantly improved the postural control performance as measured by COP metrics.

Abstract:Objectives: Jumping ability has been identified as a key factor that influences the performance of badminton athletes. Autoregulatory progressive resistance exercise (APRE) and velocity-based resistance training (VBRT) are commonly used approaches to enhance muscle strength and have been shown to accurately monitor the development of explosive power to improve jumping ability. This study aims to investigate the effects of APRE and VBRT on badminton athletes' jumping ability and to provide practical insights into improving their jumping performance during competitions. Methods: Upon completing familiarization and pretesting, 18 badminton athletes were included and completed the training intervention (age, 21.4 ± 1.4 years; stature, 170.1 ± 7.3 cm; body mass, 65.9 ± 12 kg); they were randomly divided into the APRE group (n = 9) and VBRT group (n = 9). Jumping performance was assessed during the countermovement jump (CMJ), squat jump (SJ), and drop jump (DJ) via SmartJump, with CMJ 's and SJ's jump height, eccentric utilization ratio (EUR), and reactive strength index (RSI). All participants then completed a 4-week in-season resistance training intervention. Results: (1) The results of the within-group indicated that only the CMJ (pre: 41.56 ± 7.84 vs post: 43.57 ± 7.85, p < 0.05) of the APRE group had significant differences, whereas the SJ, EUR, and RSI were not significantly different (p > 0.05). (2) The results of the intergroups revealed that all indicators had no significant differences (p > 0.05), but APRE had a moderate effect size on the improvement of the CMJ (η2 = 0.244) and EUR (η2 = 0.068) when compared with VBRT. Conclusions: The results showed that, compared to VBRT, APRE can effectively improve the performance of the reactive athletes' lower limb explosive power in the CMJ in a shorter period of time. The findings indicate that APRE may be useful for coaches seeking to improve the CMJ performance of athletes in the short term.

Abstract:The aim of our study was to evaluate, the prevalence of Helicobacter pylori infection in duodenal ulcer tunisian patients not using non steroidal anti inflammatory drugs. Seventy eight patients having a non complicated duodenal ulcer and not using non steroidal anti inflammatory drugs were enrolled in this prospective study carried out between February 2000 and January 2001. Six gastric biopsies were undertaken in all patients; five for an histologic analysis and one for urease test. A serum sample was taken for a Helicobacter pylori serology. Patients were considered infected if two tests were positive. Helicobacter pylori infection was present in 77 patients (98.7%). Helicobacter pylori infection is still high among patients with a non complicated duodenal ulcer and not using non steroidal anti inflammatory drugs suggesting an empirical Helicobacter pylori eradication therapy in this group of patients.

Abstract:The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of Plyometric Training on selected Physical Parameters of Collegiate Female Badminton Athletes. This study highlighted the impact of 12 weeks of plyometric training on selected physical parameters such as upper and lower body strength and anthropometric attributes such as weight and waist-hip ratio among females aged 16-22 years. The selected intervention was conducted at the Government Post Graduate College, Faisalabad, Punjab Pakistan. Experimental and randomized control trials and pre/post-intervention study design were used. The subjects/participants were randomly assigned into two equal groups (n=20). All the subjects/participants were divided into two groups with 10 subjects each as experimental and control group. Upper body strength is measured through push-ups test and lower body strength is measured through the squats test. The results of physical parameters such as upper body strength and lower body strength of female badminton athletes changed after a 12-week plyometric training program. Therefore, the mean and standard deviation values of upper body strength and lower body strength of post-intervention were found to improve. Finally, the researchers concluded that a 12-week plyometric training program affects the selected physical parameters i-e upper body strength and lower body strength post-intervention of college-level female badminton athletes. Additionally, in this research, the anthropometric variables were also entertained. The weight and waist-hip ratio, after the effect on selected physical parameters such as upper body strength and lower body strength, post-intervention of 12-weeks plyometric training of college-level female badminton athletes therefore, the mean and standard deviation values of weight and waist-hip ratio of post-intervention were changed significantly after post-training. Based on the findings, the researchers recommend that college authorities provide maximum chances for girls to participate in badminton games regularly to improve the selected physical parameters of upper body strength and lower body strength.

Abstract:This meta-analysis aimed to examine the effects of plyometric training on physical fitness attributes in handball players. A systematic literature search across PubMed, SCOPUS, SPORTDiscus, and Web of Science identified 20 studies with 563 players. Plyometric training showed significant medium-to-large effects on various attributes: countermovement jump with arms (ES = 1.84), countermovement jump (ES = 1.33), squat jump (ES = 1.17), and horizontal jump (ES = 0.83), ≤ 10-m linear sprint time (ES = -1.12), > 10-m linear sprint time (ES = -1.46), repeated sprint ability with change-of-direction time (ES = -1.53), agility (ES = -1.60), maximal strength (ES = 0.52), and force–velocity (muscle power) (ES = 1.13). No significant impact on balance was found. Subgroup analysis indicated more pronounced agility improvements in players ≤ 66.6 kg compared to > 66.6 kg (ES = -1.93 vs. -0.23, p = 0.014). Additionally, greater improvements were observed in linear sprint and repeat sprint ability when comparing training durations of > 8 weeks with those ≤ 8 weeks (ES = -2.30 to -2.89 vs. ES = -0.92 to -0.97). In conclusion, plyometric training effectively improves various physical fitness attributes, including jump performance, linear sprint ability, maximal strength, muscle power and agility.
