Abstract:In recent years, introduction of alternative energy sources such as solar energy is expected. The solar heat energy utilization systems are rapidly gaining acceptance as some of the best solutions for the alternative energy sources. However, thermal energy collection of solar heat energy utilization system is influenced by solar radiation and weather conditions. In order to control the solar heat energy utilization system as accurate as possible, it requires method of solar radiation estimation. This paper proposes the thermal energy collection of solar heat energy utilization system based on solar radiation forecasting at one-day-ahead 24-hours thermal energy collection by using three different NN models. The proposed technique for application of NN is trained by weather data based on tree-based model, and tested according to forecast day. Since the tree-based-model classifies the meteorological data exactly, NN will train the solar radiation with smoothly. The validity of the proposed method is confirmed by computer simulations by use of actual meteorological data.

Abstract:Redirection of acoustic energy by 90° is shown to be possible in an otherwise acoustically transparent sonic crystal. An unresponsive "deaf" antisymmetric mode is excited by matching Bragg scattering with a quadrupole scatterer resonance. The dynamic effect causes normal unidirectional wave motion to strongly couple to perpendicular motion, analogous to the quasi-static Poisson effect in solids. The Poisson-like effect is demonstrated using the first flexural resonance in cylindrical shells of elastic solids. Simulations for a finite array of acrylic shells that are impedance and index matched to water show dramatic acoustic energy redirection in an otherwise acoustically transparent medium.

Abstract:We analysed how long it has taken for papers authored by Scott Reuben, Joachim Boldt and Yoshitaka Fujii to be retracted: investigations into these three anaesthetists have shown much of their research to be unethical or fraudulent. To date, 94% of their combined papers requiring retraction have been retracted; however, only 85% of the retraction notices were compliant with guidelines produced by the Committee on Publication Ethics. We contacted the Editors-in-Chief and/or publishers of all the journals containing articles that had been identified as requiring retraction but had not yet been retracted. In response to our enquiries, 16 articles have since been retracted; we have documented the journals' responses regarding the remaining papers and await further retractions in the future. There is room for improvement in the way that unethical or fraudulent papers are handled by journals and publishers, beyond the identification of the authors' misconduct.

Abstract:The above article, published online on 17 February 2022 in Wiley Online Library (wileyonlinelibrary.com), has been retracted by agreement between the Editor‐in‐Chief, Diana Inkpen, and Wiley Periodicals LLC. The article was published as part of a guest‐edited special issue. Following publication, it came to our attention that two of those named as Guest Editors of this issue were being impersonated and/or misrepresented by a fraudulent entity. An investigation by the publisher found that all of the articles, including this one, experienced compromised editorial handling and peer review which was not in line with the journal's ethical standards. Therefore, a decision has been made to retract this article. We did not find any evidence of misconduct by the authors. The authors have been informed of the decision to retract but do not agree with this decision.
