Abstract:The radical hysterectomy by laparotomy with resection of the proximal and distal parts of the parametria (type III according to the Piver's classification) is the most appropriate treatment of stage Ib and II cervical carcinoma. Nevertheless, a resection of a partial part of the parametria and conservative surgery (of the uterus and/or ovaries) are possible in selected cases of patients with good prognostic factors. The lymphadenectomy has a diagnostic, prognostic but probably also a therapeutic value. Para-aortic lymphadenectomy should be performed in patients with a bulky tumor. Pelvic exenteration with reconstructive surgery could be discussed in young patients with centro-pelvic recurrence of a cervical carcinoma.
Spanish Physical Education Teachers’ Perceptions about Their Preparation for Inclusive Education

Abstract:The prevailing rights and quality of life approaches call for the inclusion of people with diversity and/or disabilities in society, including their participation in the educational system. Therefore, different institutions are urging countries to take action to ensure that students with disabilities receive the accommodations and supports they need within the framework of inclusive education. The idiosyncrasies of physical education (PE) classes can be an opportunity to encourage the participation and inclusion of these students. Thus, this study aims to evaluate the PE teachers’ perception about their preparation to address inclusive education. The study involved 260 Spanish primary and secondary PE teachers who answered a sociodemographic questionnaire, three dichotomic questions about their initial and ongoing preparation and the Evaluation of Teacher Training for Inclusion Questionnaire (CEFI-R). PE teachers believe that they have not received the necessary initial preparation and they consider it important to assist in ongoing courses to address their students’ diverse needs. PE teachers are aware of the importance of inclusive education and perceive greater difficulties in secondary education. PE teachers also showed a good predisposition to teach students with special educational support needs, especially found in primary school teachers through the CEFI-R Dimension 1, with statistically significant differences.
Students' Perceptions of Teacher Training for Inclusive and Sustainable Education: From University Classrooms to School Practices

Abstract:Teachers are the pillar for the development of inclusion. Hence, their initial training becomes a matter of relevance for the success of creating inclusive schools. This work contributes to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goal 4: ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all. The other objectives were to delimit the competences in inclusive education for teachers and analyse the perception of future teachers in the acquisition of IE competences in the context of university classrooms and internship centres. This research was carried out with 315 students from Catalan public universities through a questionnaire to assess their perception of these competencies. The results show that competences related to leadership in educational environments, inclusive values, or the identification of the students' abilities are being developed in internship centres. However, the university classroom context lead to the development of competences related to cooperative learning and assessment. In addition, there are significant differences between students who follow specialised teacher training in special needs and those who do not follow it. In conclusion, there is a need to extend specific training to all students and for a greater interrelationship between the training for developing competences in both contexts.

Comparative study about inclusive education among working and trainee teachers

Abstract:Inclusive education is a challenge that requires appropriate attitudes in trainee and working teachers. If the influential factors for these attitudes are known, it is possible to enhance them to achieve a training programme focused on quality professional activity. In this sense, the current study revealed and corroborated the attitudinal characterisation around educative inclusion of two groups that are traditionally not researched jointly: working teachers and students about to graduate as Preschool Education or Primary Education teachers. The quantitative method was employed for this purpose, delivering a multiple transversal study: firstly, descriptive, and secondly, relational. The data were compiled through two standardised and validated scales for the research context, determined by the location of the three campuses of the University of Granada. Through the statistical analysis, the results generally demonstrated that the attitudes were significantly different in both groups, although an acceptable attitude was inferred (and indubitably improvable) in both; it was more favourable among female participants, as well as among those who were specialising or were already specialists in Preschool Education. Therefore, it is imperative to develop optimal attitudes among the implicated agents in inclusive education.

Abstract:Teachers need to be prepared to attend to all learners regardless of their abilities or needs. This implies that future teachers must develop, throughout their initial training, the necessary competencies to provide inclusive education to all students. The aim of this research was to analyze the level of development of competencies related to inclusion and attention to diversity among university students of a degree in primary education. Based on the project developed by the European Agency for Development in Special Needs Education (EADSNE) on the profile of the inclusive teacher, an ad hoc survey was prepared based on the four fundamental competencies proposed: valuing student diversity, supporting all students, working as part of a team, and developing one’s professional and personal qualities. This survey was administered to 440 students of the degree in primary education from the University of La Laguna (San Cristóbal de La Laguna, Spain). The results showed a positive development of the four competencies, with a higher development of the competencies of continuing professional development. It was also found that the students had the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary for promoting inclusion and encouraging attention to diversity in their classrooms.

Abstract:This study, which is part of a broader research project, aims to investigate the impact of the initial training received by students in the Master's Degree in Secondary Education and Baccalaureate, Vocational Training, and Language Teaching (MDSE) on their future teaching development in the current educational and social framework. The main goal is to understand their concerns, attitudes, and level of acquired competencies and knowledge for their professional development as inclusive teachers. Additionally, the study aims to explore the relationship between their assessments and experiences with the perceived level of Emotional Intelligence (EI), given its importance as a facilitating element, which is teachable from formal education, in socio-educational inclusion processes and quality attention to diversity in classrooms. A total of 218 MDSE students (Mage = 31.5; SD = 6; males = 33%; females = 67%) participated in the study, coming from various Spanish universities, and having either completed their studies or being in the final stages after having completed the generic module and practices in secondary education centers. The information was collected through the "Teacher Training in Secondary Education: Key Elements for Teaching in an Inclusive School for All" (TTSE-IN) questionnaire, which included five validated and relevant instruments, of which three were used for the study's purpose (Questionnaire for Future Secondary Education Teachers about Perceptions of Diversity Attention, Scale of Feelings, Attitudes, and Concerns about Inclusive Education, Revised SACIE-R and Wong and Law Emotional Intelligence Scale WLEIS-S). The main results indicate that future teachers show a positive attitude towards diversity but have significant training gaps. Additionally, the EI variable, along with regular contact with people in situations of special vulnerability and experience in teaching people in situations of special vulnerability in non-formal contexts, has a positive effect on both teacher well-being and the facilitation of inclusive education processes and diversity attention.
Psychometric Properties of a Questionnaire to Assess Spanish Primary School Teachers’ Perceptions about Their Preparation for Inclusive Education

Abstract:Inclusive education is a right and must be offered to all students, including those with disabilities, providing them with individualized educational attention and support. Teachers play a leading role in the inclusive education process, their preparation and attitudes being essential for this process. This study aimed to present the factor structure and reliability of a questionnaire for the assessment of teachers’ perceptions about their preparation to support inclusive education. The sample consisted of 605 Spanish primary school teachers who responded to the Evaluation of Teachers’ Inclusion Readiness (CEFI-R) Questionnaire. Exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis and reliability evaluation were performed. The results showed a factor structure with four dimensions (Conception of Diversity, Methodology, Supports and Community Participation), composed of 17 items, with good and excellent goodness-of-fit values and high reliability (Cronbach’s Alpha = 0.75–0.94). Thus, the CEFI-R can be considered a quick and easy-to-apply tool to analyze primary school teachers’ perceptions about their preparation to address their students’ diversity of needs, allowing stakeholders to take actions to promote inclusive education.

Abstract:ABSTRACT: This study focuses on student and faculty perceptions about inclusive instructional practices in teacher training degree programs in three different universities (two in Spain and one in the USA). We synthetize this framework into four dimensions: (a) identifying students’ needs and strengths, (b) accessibility to physical spaces and materials, (c) methodologies and strategies to engage students, and (d) valuing diversity as a resource. A mixed methodology (questionnaire and interviews) was used to collect the information. Six hundred fifty-three university students and 35 faculty from the different education colleges participated in this study. Findings reveal the perceptions of students and faculty regarding both effective practices for diverse inclusive university classrooms as well as barriers to inclusion that affect learning in the participating institutions. Results reflect serious discrepancies between students and faculty members.

Abstract:Introduction. The attitudes of educators towards inclusive education are a significant factor in successful education of students with disabilities. Objectives. The objectives of this research were to assess the attitudes of educators towards inclusion as well as to determine the differences in the attitudes between class teachers, primary school teachers and secondary school teachers. The specific objectives were to identify the differences in attitudes of teachers in relation to age and experience in working with students with disabilities. Methods. The survey was conducted on a convenient sample of 101 teachers, of both sexes (female 67.3% and 32.7% male), 24 to 53 years of age. Class teachers made up 38.6% of the sample, 33.8% were primary school teachers and 27.6% were secondary school teachers. Less than half of the respondents (43.6%) had experience in educating students with disabilities. A revised Opinions Relative to Integration of Students with Disabilities was applied. Results. The results indicate that most class teachers had a negative attitude, while the average scores of teachers in primary and secondary schools were grouped around neutral attitudes towards inclusive education. Younger teachers without experience in inclusive teaching believed that inclusive education was important for students with disabilities. Senior teachers recognized the problems of inclusive education. Conclusion. Based on the obtained data, we think that it is necessary to provide teachers with quality and continuous support of special educators in order to acquire informal experience, significantly reduce the number of students in classes, and provide material resources during inclusive teaching.

Abstract:The study examined the training level of teachers in inclusive education and their sense of efficacy. The research involved 120 randomly selected teacher-respondents from public elementary schools in Talisay District, Division of Batangas, Philippines. The descriptive-quantitative approach was used, with a validated survey questionnaire for data gathering. The result showed that most respondents were females above the age of 41, with over 21 years of experience teaching at the elementary level, a master's degree, and special education training. The level of teacher training was low, but their sense of efficacy in student engagement, instructional strategies, and classroom management was very high. The respondents' sense of efficacy in instructional strategies differed significantly based on age and years of teaching at the elementary level. However, there was no significant difference in student engagement and classroom management in terms of gender, educational attainment, and training in special education. There was a significant relationship between the levels of efficacy in student engagement and training in inclusive education. The study recommends that school district leaders prioritize training programs focusing on inclusive educational practices, specifically concerning student engagement. Teachers can enhance their effectiveness in inclusive education by seeking professional development opportunities, collaborating with colleagues, reflecting on and adapting instructional approaches, embracing diversity, staying informed about research and best practices, and utilizing resources like special education professionals and instructional mentors. Future research should focus on the efficacy of teacher preparation programs and inclusive education-focused interventions.

Abstract:In elementary school, inclusive education should be adapted to the needs of students with special abilities in areas such as recreational activities, feedback and methodologies and planning. The objective of the research is to analyze and describe the perspectives of educational inclusion factors among elementary school teachers to improve students’ learning with special abilities. The methodology of the research is descriptive with a quantitative correlational approach in which 823 elementary school teachers participated through a voluntary and anonymous online survey with a measurement instrument that had two dimensions of eight and ten items which were optimal in the different statistical tests as in the analysis of the reliability factors of Cronbach’s alpha (0. 968). The result shows that teachers are willing to improve the curriculum plan, provide specialized attention after training. There is a high perspective to interact with students with special abilities to improve student learning. There are institutional constraints on primary education teachers to improve the learning factors of inclusive education as well as unknown applications or technologies that can help the learning of students with special abilities in primary education. There are non-governmental organizations that seek the welfare of students with special abilities but the results are not very encouraging due to a lack of financial capacity.

Abstract:Background: The implementation of inclusive education creates challenges for classroom teachers who have to meet the learning needs of students with and without special educational needs (SEN). Research has revealed that teachers’ readiness and willingness to accommodate the learning needs of students with SEN was determined by their training. Though much research on teacher training and inclusive education has been conducted over two decades, less is known about the adequacy of such training in terms of components and effectiveness. Purpose: The purpose of this review is to present a focused analysis of: (1) studies that examined, in detail, the components of teacher training programmes for pre-service or in-service teachers in regular primary schools in terms of content, length, etc., and (2) consideration of the effectiveness of these training programmes. Design and methods: The literature review was restricted to empirical studies published in international peer-reviewed journals after 1994 (i.e. since the Salamanca statement was signed) by using the electronic browser ‘EBSCO host Complete’. After applying the keywords ‘teacher’ and ‘educator’, they were combined with the following terms: training, disabilities, inclusion, inclusive education, impairment, special educational needs, children with special needs and disorder. The search was deliberately restricted to papers where study participants were pre-service or in-service teachers in regular primary schools, and ultimately yielded a small core of 13 studies for detailed review. The first research question was analysed in terms of the training programme’s structure and content, covering aspects such as type of disability, topic, length, medium of course delivery and learning activities. For the second research question, the effectiveness of the quantitative studies was evaluated based on the Cohen’s d effect size, whereas the qualitative studies were considered as effective based on the calculation of percentage of non-overlapping data (PND). Conclusions: Analysis indicated that the majority of training programmes focused on attitude, knowledge and skills. The training programmes were also centred on what might be considered short-term practice and supplemented with field experiences. Although the training programmes appeared to have positive effects on teachers’ attitudes, knowledge and skills, follow-up sessions and students’ outcomes measures may increase training effectiveness.

Abstract:Abstract The purpose of this study is to examine the knowledge and perceptions of 145 teachers from three regions in Ghana regarding inclusive education. The results show that the teachers have moderate knowledge of inclusive education practices and processes. Additionally, slight moderate positive relationships were found between participants’ level of training in inclusive education and their knowledge of inclusive education. From the findings, we argue for stakeholders in teacher education to, as a matter of necessity, reconsider the curriculum and practicum for preparing special and general educators to focus on inclusive practices to effectively prepare pre-service teachers to succeed in inclusive settings. There is also a school leadership imperative, in view of site-specific challenges and needs, to influence school-based strategies to advance inclusionary practices. Successes of such initiatives could be replicated in other schools to advance inclusive education in Ghana. Implications of the study for teacher professional development and inclusive education practice in pre-tertiary educational institutions are underscored.

Abstract:Inclusive education refers to an educational approach in which all students can learn and participate in the mainstream school system. The successful implementation of inclusive practices is strongly determined by teachers' attitudes toward inclusive education and teacher training is one of several factors influencing these attitudes. Given the diversity of such programs, the present narrative review investigated the optimal design for pre-service inclusive teacher programs in terms of its duration and content delivery mode. For this, we considered and analyzed 31 studies, comprising 36 international interventions. Although most studies did not adequately report statistics to draw unequivocal conclusions, our results suggest an overall positive effect of training on pre-service teacher attitudes toward inclusive education. The effects of the duration and delivery mode of such programs are discussed from the perspective of successful training design in the light of social psychological theories and empirical findings, thus providing novel avenues for future research.

To be or not to be an inclusive teacher: Are empathy and social dominance relevant factors to positive attitudes towards inclusive education?

Abstract:Positive inclusive teacher attitudes are a key factor in achieving inclusive education due to the many benefits they generate for schools and social contexts. Studies have focused on analysing which variables may promote positive attitudes. The objective of this study was to analyse the predictive power of sociodemographic variables, empathy (cognitive and emotional), and social dominance orientation (social dominance and opposition to equality) on teachers' attitudes, sentiments, and concerns about inclusion by comparing linear relationship models and models based on fuzzy-set comparative qualitative analysis. The sample consisted of 268 teachers of different educational levels aged between 20 and 64 years (M = 42.46, SD = 9.22), 66% of whom were women. The teachers were administered the Sentiments, Attitudes, and Concerns about Inclusive Education Revised (SACIE-R) scale, the Basic Empathy Scale (BES), and the Social Dominance Orientation (SDO) scale. Two different statistical methodologies were used: traditional regression models and fuzzy-set qualitative comparative analysis (QCA) models. The results of the regression models suggest that social dominance is the main predictor of attitudes, sentiments, and concerns about inclusion. Social dominance is negatively related to attitudes and positively related to sentiments and concerns. Only opposition to equality and emotional empathy are related to attitudes. On the other hand, the results of the QCA models suggest that low social dominance and high cognitive and emotional empathy, as well as female sex, predict higher levels of positive attitudes, sentiments, and concerns about inclusion. Since teachers interact most with students, it is important to be aware of how their empathy and social dominance orientations influence inclusion to develop intervention programmes that seek to train teachers in these capabilities.

Abstract:Abstract Competency-based education is one of the challenges currently faced by social science teachers. At present, there is an abundance of research on competencies relating to the social sciences which favour the development of historical thinking among learners. The ongoing training of teachers is of vital importance when it comes to shifting the method of teaching towards approaches which focus more on the learner, which favour the teaching of historical contents and competences aimed at forming a critical citizenship. For this reason, the two objectives of this study are to discover which disciplinary contents are considered by teachers to be most relevant for the teaching of history and what training is required by teachers who give social science classes in primary and secondary education in Spain. The research is a non-experimental mixed-methods study. In order to achieve the first objective, a quantitative analysis has been carried out of the data obtained from a questionnaire with a Likert-type scale administered to 332 primary and secondary teachers in Spain. To achieve the second objective, the information obtained from 12 interviews with primary and secondary school teachers in Spain has been analysed in a qualitative way. The results obtained indicate that teachers update their disciplinary knowledge via scientific journals and that they are interested in receiving training in historical thinking skills, active learning methods and ICT resources. Based on these training needs, it is concluded that teachers currently envisage a teaching model in the social sciences which is more competency-based and focused on the active participation of the learner.

Abstract:This paper investigates the teachers’ perceptions of inclusive education in public primary schools in Kenya.It particularly explores the influence of the teachers’ demographic variables on the perceptions of inclusive education in the regular school system. The study is guided by the positioning theory puts emphasis on within the framework of discursive psychology and requires close analysis of cues that participants use to position themselves, their listeners, and others. The analysis adopted the Ex Post Facto criterion group research design to identify the causative relationship between the demographic indicators and inclusive education practices. The respondents (n = 333) were regular primary school teachers in Kisii Central Sub County of Kisii County, Kenya. There were five research questions that guided the current study were translated into ten hypotheses which were tested using the one – way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA).The findings reveal that the participants presented mixed opinions on the general philosophy of inclusive education based on their demographic factors. The difference among age cohort (F (14,329)= 2.629; P< .001), level of qualification (F(14,311)= 8.94; P< .001) and teaching experience (F(12,163)= 18.03; p .001) and training in disability education (F (13,316)=3.84; P> .001), did not have significant influence on regular teachers’ perceptions of inclusive education. The study has revealed that a number of teacher demographic factors significantly influence teacher’s perceptions in inclusive education classrooms in the general school environments. These include teacher’s age, level of educational qualification and teaching experience. The gender and training in disability of the teachers however do not influence the teachers perceptions.

Abstract:The literature review shows a growing interest in investigating teacher education in an inclusive perspective, given the number of children with special educational needs in mainstream schools as well as the studies that focus on the value of this approach. The purpose of this article is to analyze the training needs from the perspective of an inclusive education of the students with special educational needs, in the context of the Romanian school staff. In the current study, teachers provided their experience and opinions for the development of in-service training programs in the field of inclusion. They presented the number of children with special educational needs in their classes, the training they received, the implementation capacity, and the school support, as well as the teachers’ expectations and the barriers they encountered. 1132 teachers from pre-university education from 40 counties participated. The methodology is quantitative and qualitative and the data was collected through online questionnaires. Data was analysed using an inductive system of categories and codes. The results addressed the following themes: the teachers’ level of competencies they acquired from previous training, the importance they give to continuous training, their motivation for professional development, the contents they considered necessary from an inclusive perspective, and the framework for exploring the development of collaborative practice in training. The conclusions section addressed the need for schools to design and implement training policies for their communities.
Analysis of Teacher Self-Efficacy and Its Impact on Sustainable Well-Being at Work

Abstract:This study evaluates teacher self-efficacy perceptions among students in the Master's Degree in Secondary Education and Baccalaureate, Vocational Training, and Language Teaching (MDSE), as well as the variables influencing these perceptions and their connection to the program's training. The research sheds light on how self-efficacy affects views on concerns, feelings, and attitudes towards diversity and inclusive education in the current educational landscape. Out of 205 female and 100 male MDSE students surveyed, who are either graduates or nearing completion, data were gathered using the "Teacher Education in Secondary Education: Key Elements for Teaching in an Inclusive School for All" (FORPES-IN) questionnaire distributed across Spanish universities. Three primary instruments from the questionnaire were utilized: the Teachers' Self-Efficacy Short Form (TSES-SF), the Questionnaire for Future Secondary Education Teachers regarding Perceptions of Diversity, and the Revised Scale of Feelings, Attitudes, and Concerns about Inclusive Education (SACIE-R). Findings suggest that the majority of prospective teachers exhibit moderate-to-high levels of self-efficacy. Variables such as non-formal teaching experiences, the reason for joining the MDSE program, and regular interactions with vulnerable individuals, especially in Social and Health Science domains, moderately influence self-efficacy. This study reveals a strong link between the received training and the perceived level of self-efficacy. In particular, participants with higher self-efficacy feel better equipped to handle classroom diversity and rate the MDSE program positively. Areas for enhancement are identified, such as classroom management and diversified assessment strategies. Finally, a positive correlation is observed between high self-efficacy and positive attitudes toward disability, inclusive education principles, and reduced apprehensions about inclusive teaching.
