Abstract:Abstract Asparagus cochinchinensis is a traditional Chinese medicinal plant. The chloroplast (cp) genome study on A. cochinchinensis is poorly understood. In this research, we collected the data from the cp genome assembly and gene annotation of A. cochinchinensis , followed by further comparative analysis with six species in the genus Asparagus . The cp genome of A. cochinchinensis showed a circular quadripartite structure in the size of 157,095 bp, comprising a large single-copy (LSC), a small single-copy (SSC), and two inverted repeat (IR) regions. A total of 137 genes were annotated, consisting of 86 protein-coding genes, 8 ribosomal RNAs, 38 transfer RNAs, and 5 pseudo-genes. Forty scattered repetitive sequences and 247 simple sequence repeats loci were marked out. In addition, A/T-ending codons were shown to have a basis in the codon analysis. A cp genome comparative analysis revealed that a similar gene composition was detected in the IR and LSC/SSC regions with Asparagus species. Based on the complete cp genome sequence in Asparagaceae, the result showed that A. cochinchinensis was closely related to A. racemosus by phylogenetic analysis. Therefore, our study providing A. cochinchinensis genomic resources could effectively contribute to the phylogenetic analysis and molecular identification of the genus Asparagus .

Abstract:Asparagus species are widely used for medicinal, horticultural, and culinary purposes. Complete chloroplast DNA (cpDNA) genomes of three Asparagus specimens collected in Hong Kong— A . aethiopicus , A . densiflorus ‘Myers’, and A . cochinchinensis —were de novo assembled using Illumina sequencing. Their sizes ranged from 157,069 to 157,319 bp, with a total guanine–cytosine content of 37.5%. Structurally, a large single copy (84,598–85,350 bp) and a small single copy (18,677–18,685 bp) were separated by a pair of inverted repeats (26,518–26,573 bp). In total, 136 genes were annotated for A . aethiopicus and A . densiflorus ‘Myers’; these included 90 mRNA, 38 tRNA, and 8 rRNA genes. Further, 132 genes, including 87 mRNA, 37 tRNA, and 8 rRNA genes, were annotated for A . cochinchinensis . For comparative and phylogenetic analysis, we included NCBI data for four congenerics, A . setaceus , A . racemosus , A . schoberioides , and A . officinalis . The gene content, order, and genome structure were relatively conserved among the genomes studied. There were similarities in simple sequence repeats in terms of repeat type, sequence complementarity, and cpDNA partition distribution. A . densiflorus ‘Myers’ had distinctive long sequence repeats in terms of their quantity, type, and length-interval frequency. Divergence hotspots, with nucleotide diversity (Pi) ≥ 0.015, were identified in five genomic regions: accD - psaI , ccsA , trnS - trnG , ycf1 , and ndhC - trnV . Here, we summarise the historical changes in the generic subdivision of Asparagus . Our phylogenetic analysis, which also elucidates the nomenclatural complexity of A . aethiopicus and A . densiflorus ‘Myers’, further supports their close phylogenetic relationship. The findings are consistent with prior generic subdivisions, except for the placement of A . racemosus , which requires further study. These de novo assembled cpDNA genomes contribute valuable genomic resources and help to elucidate Asparagus taxonomy.

Abstract:Asparagus cochinchinensis (Lour.) Merr. and Asparagus dauricus Fisch. ex Link are two traditional medical plants with therapeutic effects, distributed in mountainous regions of China. In the current study, the complete chloroplast (cp) genomes of A. cochinchinensis and A. dauricus were sequenced on the Illumina Hiseq 2500, and obtained with a length of 157,095 bp and 156,918 bp, respectively, both containing a large single-copy region and a small single-copy region separated by a pair of inverted repeat regions. The cp genome of A. cochinchinensis has 132 annotated genes including 86 protein-coding genes, 38 tRNA, and eight rRNA genes. A. dauricus has 112 annotated genes containing 78 protein genes, 30 tRNA, and four rRNA genes. The maximum-likelihood tree was reconstructed with 17 species, indicating that A. cochinchinensis is a sister group to the clade including A. officinalis to A. racemosa. This clade includes five species of Asparagus.

Abstract:Garden asparagus ( Asparagus officinalis L.) is a horticultural crop with high nutritional and medical value, considered an ideal plant for sex determination research among many dioecious plants, whose genomic information can support genetic analysis and breeding programs. In this research, the entire mitochondrial genome of A. officinalis was sequenced, annotated and assembled using a mixed Illumina and PacBio data. The garden asparagus circular mitochondrial genome measures 492,062 bp with a GC value of 45.9%. Thirty-six protein-coding genes, 17 tRNA and 6 rRNA genes were annotated, among which 8 protein-coding genes contained 16 introns. In addition, 254 SSRs with 10 complete tandem repeats and 293 non-tandem repeats were identified. It was found that the codons of edited sites located in the amino acids showed a leucine-formation trend, and RNA editing sites mainly caused the mutual transformation of amino acids with the same properties. Furthermore, 72 sequence fragments accounting for 20,240 bp, presentating 4.11% of the whole mitochondrial genome, were observed to migrate from chloroplast to mitochondrial genome of A. officinalis . The phylogenetic analysis showed that the closest genetic relationship between A. officinalis with onion ( Allium cepa ) inside the Liliaceae family. Our results demonstrated that high percentage of protein-coding genes had evolutionary conservative properties, with Ka/Ks values less than 1. Therefore, this study provides a high-quality garden asparagus mitochondrial genome, useful to promote better understanding of gene exchange between organelle genomes.

Abstract:Amorphophallus coaetaneus S. Y. Liu & S. J. Wei 1986 is a perennial herb belonging to the Araceae family in southwestern China (Guangxi and Yunnan provinces). Although this species have not been list in the red list of International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), the populations are declining due to human over exploitation. To help to genetic diversity studies, we sequenced and assembled the complete chloroplast (cp) genome of A. coaetaneus (GenBank accession number of national center for biotechnology information (NCBI): OQ404947). The assembled genome revealed 175,465 bp in length with a GC content of 34.90%, including a large single-copy (LSC) region (98,561 bp), a small single-copy (SSC) region (16,504 bp) and two inverted repeat regions (IRs) (30,200 bp each). A total of 133 genes were annotated, of which 85 are protein-coding genes, 40 are tRNA genes and 8 are rRNA genes. As an output of this study, a maximum likelihood (ML) phylogenetic inference of 16 Araceae species clustered all four Amorphophallus species in one clade, and showed a relatively close relationship between the tribes Pythonieae and Colocasieae. The cp genome will serve as a basis in a more extensive molecular works covering all possible extant population of Amorphophallus , as well as conservation, breeding, and other ethnobotanical utilization of this species.

Abstract:Plants in the genus Amorphophallus, many of which possess high konjac glucomannan content, are considered important cash crops in many Asian countries. Wild relatives of cultivated Amorphophallus species are valuable resources for the genetic improvement of these crops. To aid in future genetic research of wild germplasm resources of Amorphophallus, a single individual of Amorphophallus krausei Engler, Pflanzenr 1911 was collected from southwestern China, and its chloroplast genome was sequenced using next-generation sequencing technologies. The assembled chloroplast genome was 172,418 bp in length with a GC content of 35.23% (GenBank accession no. OR416863). A typical quadripartite structure was found in the genome, which was comprised of one large single-copy (LSC), one small single-copy (SSC), and two inverted repeats (IRs), with lengths of 91,983 bp, 15,591 bp, 32,422 bp, and 32,422 bp, respectively. A total of 132 genes were annotated in the genome, including 86 protein-coding genes, 38 tRNAs, and 8 rRNAs. A maximum likelihood (ML) tree of A. krausei and 17 other species in the family Araceae suggested that all Amorphophallus species formed a single monophyletic clade. A close relationship among A. konjac, A. albus, and A. krausei was also revealed by the phylogenetic tree. The newly sequenced chloroplast genome of A. krausei will support future genetic studies, particularly the assessment of genetic diversity, resource conservation, and phylogeographic research.

Abstract:Akebia quinata is an over-harvesting shrub which faces an urgent need for reasonable conservation strategies. In this study, we report its complete chloroplast genome by Illumina pair-end sequencing. The total cp genome size was 157,817 bp in length, containing a pair of inverted repeats of 26,143 bp, separated by large single copy and small single copy of 86,543 bp and 18,988 bp, respectively. The chloroplast genome of A. quinata encodes 113 different genes, including 79 protein-coding genes, 30 transfer RNAs and 4 ribosomal RNAs. A total of 47 perfect cp microsatellites were analyzed in the A. quinata . The majority of the SSRs in this cp genome are mononucleotides (74.47 %). Regions of the highest variability were sought out by comparing with A. trifoliate. There are only 385 nucleotide substitutions and 141 indels between the two genomes. Six highly variable regions were identified including four intergenic regions and two coding regions.

Abstract:Tiandong is a vital traditional Chinese herbal medicine. It is derived from the tuber root of the Asparagus cochinchinensis according to the Pharmacopoeia of the people's republic of China (2020 Edition). On account of the similar morphology, Asparagus meioclados and Asparagus munitus were used as Tian-Dong in southwest China. Chloroplast (cp) genomes are highly active genetic components of plants and play an extremely important role in improving the efficiency of the identification of plant species. To differentiate the medicinal plants belonging to the genus Asparagus , we sequenced and analyzed the complete plastomes (plastid genomes) of A. meioclados and A. munitus and obtained two plastomes whose length changed to 156,515 bp and 156,381 bp, respectively. A total of 111 unique genes have been detected in plastome, which included 78 protein-coding genes, 29 tRNA genes and 4 rRNA genes. In plastomes of A. meioclados and A. munitus , 14,685 and 14,987 codons were detected, among which 9942 and 10,207 had the relative synonymous codon usage (RSCU) values higher than 1, respectively. A. meioclados and A. munitus have 26 SSRs patterns, among which A. meioclados was 25 and A. munitu s 21. The average Ka/Ks value was 0.36, and positive selection was detected in genes of the photosynthetic system ( ndhF and rbcL ) in Asparagus species. To perform the comparative analysis of plastomes, the two newly sequenced plastomes of the A. meioclados and A. munitus species were compared with that of A. cochinchinensis , and 12 hotspots, including 5 coding regions and 7 inter-genomic regions, were identified. Based on the whole plastome of Asparagus , 2 divergent hotspots ( accD and rpl32-trnL-UAG ) and 1 international barcode fragment ( rbcL ) were screened, which may be used as particular molecular markers for the identification of Asparagus species. In addition, we determined the phylogenetic relationship between A. meioclados and A. munitus in the genus Asparagus . This study enriches our knowledge of the molecular evolutionary relationships of the Asparagus genus and provides treasured data records for species identification, molecular breeding, and evolutionary analysis of this genus.

Abstract:Ban-Lan-Gen, the root tissues derived from several morphologically indistinguishable plant species, have been used widely in traditional Chinese medicines for numerous years. The identification of reliable markers to distinguish various source plant species is critical for the effective and safe use of products containing Ban-Lan-Gen. Here, we analyzed and characterized the complete chloroplast (cp) genome sequence of Strobilanthes cusia (Nees) Kuntze to identify high-resolution markers for the species determination of Southern Ban-Lan-Gen. Total DNA was extracted and subjected to next-generation sequencing. The cp genome was then assembled, and the gaps were filled using PCR amplification and Sanger sequencing. Genome annotation was conducted using CpGAVAS web server. The genome was 144,133 bp in length, presenting a typical quadripartite structure of large (LSC; 91,666 bp) and small (SSC; 17,328 bp) single-copy regions separated by a pair of inverted repeats (IRs; 17,811 bp). The genome encodes 113 unique genes, including 79 protein-coding, 30 transfer RNA, and 4 ribosomal RNA genes. A total of 20 tandem, 2 forward, and 6 palindromic repeats were detected in the genome. A phylogenetic analysis based on 65 protein-coding genes showed that S. cusia was closely related to Andrographis paniculata and Ruellia breedlovei, which belong to the same family, Acanthaceae. One interesting feature is that the IR regions apparently undergo simultaneous contraction and expansion, resulting in the presence of single copies of rps19, rpl2, rpl23, and ycf2 in the LSC region and the duplication of psbA and trnH genes in the IRs. This study provides the first complete cp genome in the genus Strobilanthes, containing critical information for the classification of various Strobilanthes species in the future. This study also provides the foundation for precisely determining the plant sources of Ban-Lan-Gen.

Abstract:Avena chinensis is recognized as one of the cereals with high nutritional value in the world. In this study, the complete chloroplast (cp) genome sequence of A. chinensis was reported. The complete cp genome of A. chinensis was 135,899 bp in length with a GC content of 38.51%, including a large single copy (LSC) region of 80,117 bp, a small single copy (SSC) region of 12,576 bp, and a pair of inverted repeated regions of 21,603 bp. The A. chinensis cp genome encoded 128 functional genes, including 82 protein-coding genes, 38 tRNAs, and eight rRNAs. The phylogenetic analysis showed that A. chinensis was closely related to Avena hybrid and Avena occidentalis.

Abstract:Background: Astragalus is one of the largest angiosperms and has important economic value. The chloroplast genomes (Cp) of most plants in its family have been sequenced and annotated, but there are fewer studies on the characteristics of the chloroplast genomes and codon usage bias of Astragalus. In this study, we sequenced and annotated the complete chloroplast genomes of three Astragalus species, that systematically compared the chloroplast genome and codon usage characteristics of three Astragalus. Methods: In this study, we used three Astragalus species as materials. Firstly, we sequenced and assembled their chloroplast genomes. Subsequently, we analyzed the codon usage bias of the chloroplast genomes of the three medicinal Astragalus species using software such as CodonW, CUSP and SPSS. Result: The results illustrated that the length of Astragalus chloroplast genome ranges from 122,815 bp (A. dahuricus) to 123,729 bp (A. melilotoides Pall.). There were 107-110genes, including 75-76 protein-coding genes (PCGs), four ribosomal RNA genes (rRNAs) and 28-30 transfer RNA genes (tRNAs). In addition, the results illustrated that codons in three Cp genomes from Astragalus had the same 11 Optimal codons and ending with A/U. The codon usage frequency of five model creatures were compared and the results revealed that the codon preferences of Astragalus and five model creatures were pretty significant, the natural selection was the main factor in codon preference. Our research provides some value for the researches of chloroplast genetic engineering and molecular breeding in Astragalus.

Comparative Analysis of Six Chloroplast Genomes in Chenopodium and Its Related Genera (Amaranthaceae): New Insights into Phylogenetic Relationships and the Development of Species-Specific Molecular Markers

Abstract:Species within the genus Chenopodium hold significant research interest due to their nutritional richness and salt tolerance. However, the morphological similarities among closely related species and a dearth of genomic resources have impeded their comprehensive study and utilization. In the present research, we conduct the sequencing and assembly of chloroplast (cp) genomes from six Chenopodium and related species, five of which were sequenced for the first time. These genomes ranged in length from 151,850 to 152,215 base pairs, showcased typical quadripartite structures, and encoded 85 protein-coding genes (PCGs), 1 pseudogene, 37 tRNA genes, and 8 rRNA genes. Compared with the previously published sequences of related species, these cp genomes are relatively conservative, but there are also some interspecific differences, such as inversion and IR region contraction. We discerned 929 simple sequence repeats (SSRs) and a series of highly variable regions across 16 related species, predominantly situated in the intergenic spacer (IGS) region and introns. The phylogenetic evaluations revealed that Chenopodium is more closely related to genera such as Atriplex, Beta, Dysphania, and Oxybase than to other members of the Amaranthaceae family. These lineages shared a common ancestor approximately 60.80 million years ago, after which they diverged into distinct genera. Based on InDels and SNPs between species, we designed 12 pairs of primers for species identification, and experiments confirmed that they could completely distinguish 10 related species.

Abstract:Barnardia japonica is an ornamental bulb with important medicinal usage. The complete chloroplast genome of B. japonica was newly sequenced in this study. The total chloroplast genome size of B. japonica was 156,129 bp. In total, 131 genes were identified, including 85 protein-coding genes, 8 rRNA genes, and 38 tRNA genes. Eighteen genes are containing introns (clpP and ycf3 contained two introns) and 18 genes had two copies. The overall GC content of this genome was 37.7%. A further phylogenomic analysis of Asparagales, including 36 taxa, was conducted for the placement of genus Barnardia. The complete plastome of B. japonica will provide a valuable resource for further genetic conservation, phylogenomic, and evolution studies in the genus and family.

Abstract:Aconitum transsectum Diels. (Ranunculaceae) is an important medicinal plant that is widely used in traditional Chinese medicine, but its morphological traits make it difficult to recognize from other Aconitum species. No research has sequenced the chloroplast genome of A.transsectum, despite the fact that phylogenetic analysis based on chloroplast genome sequences provides essential evidence for plant classification. In this study, the chloroplast (cp) genome of A. transsectum was sequenced, assembled, and annotated. A. transsectum cp genome is a 155,872 bp tetrameric structure including a large single copy (LSC, 87,671 bp) and a small single copy (SSC, 18,891 bp) section, as well as a pair of inverted repeat sequences (IRa and IRb, 25,894 bp each). 131 genes are encoded by the complete cp genome, comprising 86 protein-coding genes, 37 tRNAs, and 8 rRNAs. The most favored codon in the A. transsectum cp genome is AUG, and 46 repeats and 241 SSRs were also identified. The A. transsectum cp genome is similar in size, gene composition, and IR expansion and contraction to the cp genomes of seven Ranunculaceae species. Phylogenetic analysis of cp genomes of 28 plants from the Ranunculaceae family shows that A. transsectum is most closely related to A. vilmorinianum, A. episcopale, and A. forrestii of Subgen. Aconitum. Overall, this study provides complete cp genome resources for A. transsectum that will be beneficial for identifying potential.

Abstract:Gynostemma guangxiense X.X.Chen & D.H.Qin is an important medicinal species distributed in Guangxi, China. In this study, we obtained the complete chloroplast (cp) genome sequence for G. guangxiense using Illumina paired-end sequencing technology and analyzed the codon usage pattern with bioinformatics approaches. The cp genome of G. guangxiense comprises 157,785 bp with a pair of inverted repeat regions (26,288 bp) separated by one large single copy region (86,702 bp) and one small single copy region (18,507 bp). The whole genome contains 130 unique genes, where 113 are unique, including 79 protein-coding genes, 30 tRNA genes, and four rRNA genes. In addition, 62 repeats and 70 simple sequence repeats were identified. Phylogenetic inference based on 73 protein-coding genes indicated that G. guangxiense has a close relationship with Gynostemma caulopterum S.Z. He. In addition, 52 CDSs longer than 300 bp in the G. guangxiense cp genome were screened to analyze synonymous codon usage. The neutrality plot indicated a weak correlation between GC12 and GC3. Effective number of codons plot analysis showed that most genes were distributed below the expected curve. PR2-plot mapping analysis revealed that G and T were used more frequently than C and A at the third base position. Finally, 16 codons were identified as the optimal codons. These findings suggest that natural selection has mainly influenced codon usage in the G. guangxiense cp genome. A near‐complete assembly of asparagus bean provides insights into anthocyanin accumulation in pods

Abstract:Summary Asparagus bean (Vigna unguiculata ssp. sesquipedialis), a subspecies of V. unguiculata, is a vital legume crop widely cultivated in Asia for its tender pods consumed as vegetables. However, the existing asparagus bean assemblies still contain numerous gaps and unanchored sequences, which presents challenges to functional genomics research. Here, we present an improved reference genome sequence of an elite asparagus bean variety, Fengchan 6, achieved through the integration of nanopore ultra‐long reads, PacBio high‐fidelity reads, and Hi‐C technology. The improved assembly is 521.3 Mb in length and demonstrates several enhancements, including a higher N50 length (46.4 Mb), an anchor ratio of 99.8%, and the presence of only one gap. Furthermore, we successfully assembled 14 telomeres and all 11 centromeres, including four telomere‐to‐telomere chromosomes. Remarkably, the centromeric regions cover a total length of 38.1 Mb, providing valuable insights into the complex architecture of centromeres. Among the 30 594 predicted protein‐coding genes, we identified 2356 genes that are tandemly duplicated in segmental duplication regions. These findings have implications for defence responses and may contribute to evolutionary processes. By utilizing the reference genome, we were able to effectively identify the presence of the gene VuMYB114, which regulates the accumulation of anthocyanins, thereby controlling the purple coloration of the pods. This discovery holds significant implications for understanding the underlying mechanisms of color determination and the breeding process. Overall, the highly improved reference genome serves as crucial resource and lays a solid foundation for asparagus bean genomic studies and genetic improvement efforts.

Abstract:The complete cp genomes of Pedicularis chinensis (GenBank accession number: OQ587614) and Pedicularis kansuensis (GenBank accession number: OQ587613) were sequenced, assembled, and annotated. Their chloroplast (cp) genome lengths were 146,452 bp, and 146,852 bp, respectively; 120 and 116 genes were identified, comprising 75 and 72 protein-coding genes (PCGs), 37 and 36 transfer RNA (tRNA) genes, and 8 and 8 ribosomal RNA (rRNA) genes, for P. chinensis and P. kansuensis , respectively. A simple sequence repeat (SSR) analysis revealed that the repetitive sequences were mainly composed of mononucleotide repeats (A/T motif) and dinucleotide repeats (AT/TA motif). Comparative genomics identified several variant genes ( rpl22 , rps19 , rpl12 , ycf1 , trnH , psbA , and ndhH ) and variant regions ( trnS - GGA , trnV - UAC , ndhJ - trnV , ycf4 - cemA , ndhE - nhdG , and rpl32 - trnL ) with a high Pi, indicating the potential to serve as deoxyribo nucleic acid (DNA) barcodes for Pedicularis species identification. The results show that the cp genomes of P. chinensis and P. kansuensis were the same as those of other plants in Pedicularis , with different degrees of AT preference for codons. Large differences in the number of SSRs and the expansion of the inverted repeat (IR) region showed strong variability and interspecific differentiation between these two species and other species represented in the genus Pedicularis . A phylogenetic analysis showed that P. kansuensis had the closest relationship with P. oliveriana , and P. chinensis had the closest relationship with P. aschistorhyncha . These results will facilitate the study of the phylogenetic classification and interspecific evolution of Pedicularis plants.

Abstract:In this study, the chloroplast genome sequencing of the Achyranthes longifolia, Achyranthes bidentata and Achyranthes aspera were performed by Next-generation sequencing technology. The results revealed that there were a length of 151,520 bp (A. longifolia), 151,284 bp (A. bidentata), 151,486 bp (A. aspera), respectively. These chloroplast genome have a highly conserved structure with a pair of inverted repeat (IR) regions (25,150 bp; 25,145 bp; 25,150 bp), a large single copy (LSC) regions (83,732 bp; 83,933 bp; 83,966 bp) and a small single copy (SSC) regions (17,252 bp; 17,263 bp; 17,254 bp) in A. bidentate, A. aspera and A. longifolia. There were 127 genes were annotated, which including 8 rRNA genes, 37 tRNA genes and 82 functional genes. The phylogenetic analysis strongly revealed that Achyranthes is monophyletic, and A. bidentata was the closest relationship with A. aspera and A. longifolia. A. bidentata and A. longifolia were clustered together, the three Achyranthes species had the same origin, then the gunes of Achyranthes is the closest relative to Alternanthera, and that forms a group with Alternanthera philoxeroides. The research laid a foundation and provided relevant basis for the identification of germplasm resources in the future.
Evolutionary Comparison of the Complete Chloroplast Genomes in Convallaria Species and Phylogenetic Study of Asparagaceae

Abstract:The genus Convallaria (Asparagaceae) comprises three herbaceous perennial species that are widely distributed in the understory of temperate deciduous forests in the Northern Hemisphere. Although Convallaria species have high medicinal and horticultural values, studies related to the phylogenetic analysis of this genus are few. In the present study, we assembled and reported five complete chloroplast (cp) sequences of three Convallaria species (two of C. keiskei Miq., two of C. majalis L., and one of C. montana Raf.) using Illumina paired-end sequencing data. The cp genomes were highly similar in overall size (161,365–162,972 bp), and all consisted of a pair of inverted repeats (IR) regions (29,140–29,486 bp) separated by a large single-copy (LSC) (85,183–85,521 bp) and a small single-copy (SSC) region (17,877–18,502 bp). Each cp genome contained the same 113 unique genes, including 78 protein-coding genes, 30 transfer RNA genes, and 4 ribosomal RNA genes. Gene content, gene order, AT content and IR/SC boundary structure were nearly identical among all of the Convallaria cp genomes. However, their lengths varied due to contraction/expansion at the IR/LSC borders. Simple sequence repeat (SSR) analyses indicated that the richest SSRs are A/T mononucleotides. Three highly variable regions (petA-psbJ, psbI-trnS and ccsA-ndhD) were identified as valuable molecular markers. Phylogenetic analysis of the family Asparagaceae using 48 cp genome sequences supported the monophyly of Convallaria, which formed a sister clade to the genus Rohdea. Our study provides a robust phylogeny of the Asparagaceae family. The complete cp genome sequences will contribute to further studies in the molecular identification, genetic diversity, and phylogeny of Convallaria.
