Abstract:Objective: This study aimed to explore the most effective nonsurgical therapy to treat stress urinary incontinence (SUI). Methods: Data were pooled and the Bayesian random effects model was utilized to evaluate the inconsistencies between indirect and direct proof. Network sub-analyses, sensitivity and subgroup analysis, and standard pairwise comparisons were utilized in preparation of the main analysis. Results: A total of 17 RCTs (852 participants) were enrolled. With regard to therapy, pelvic floor muscle training (PFMT) was more often recommended than biofeedback (BF). The combination of PFMT and BF was remarkably promoted than PFMT alone or PFMT with vaginal cone (VC) or electrical stimulation (ES). The QL scores of patients who underwent PFMT were noticeably improved compared with those of patients who underwent ES. The combination of BF and PFMT was remarkably promoted compared with BF alone. VC was superior to ES with regard to QL scores. By contrast, ES alone was the least preferred method to decrease urine leakage and to promote QL. Conclusion: The combination of BF and PFMT was proven to be an optimal method to treat SUI which aims to promote urine leakage and LQ compared with either PFMT alone, ES, VC, or circular muscle (CME), while ES was the least preferred method to promote LQ.
The Effect of Pelvic Floor Magnetic Stimulation in Women with Myofascial Pelvic Pain Syndrome: A Prospective Cohort Pilot Study

Abstract:Background: Chronic pelvic pain (CPP) is a highly prevalent pain condition in which pelvic floor myofascial pain syndrome (MPPS) is also frequently found. Optimal treatments for CPP and MPPS are unknown. The aims of this pilot study were to investigate the effect of pelvic floor magnetic stimulation (MS) in women with MPPS. Treatment effects were compared between patients receiving MS alone, myofascial release therapy (MRT) alone, and MS + MRT. Methods: Patients were divided into three groups: MS, MRT, and MS + MRT. Questionnaires including Short-form McGill Pain Questionnaire (SF-MPQ), Pelvic Pain and Urgency/Frequency questionnaire (PUF), Female Sexual Function Index (FSFI), Hamilton Anxiety Scale (HAMA), and clinical global impression scale (CGI) were used to assess changes in subjective symptoms before and after treatment. Pelvic floor muscle function was assessed by the Modified Oxford Scale and Surface electromyography (sEMG). Pain mapping was used to locate trigger points (TPs) and to score the intensity of pain. A Visual Analog Scale (VAS) was used to measure the intensity of pain on a scale of 0 to 10. Changes in the above evaluation indexes within each group and between groups were evaluated after 5 treatment sessions and 10 treatment sessions. Results: Nineteen patients completed the treatment between November 2020 and August 2021. The SF-MPQ and PUF scores decreased significantly (p < 0.01) after treatment. The VAS score for pelvic floor tenderness also decreased significantly after 5 and 10 treatment sessions (p < 0.01). At the end of 10 sessions, the HAMA score was significantly lower than prior to treatment (p < 0.01). Conclusions: This preliminary study shows that MS is effective for the treatment of MPPS. Clinical Observation on Heat Sensitive Moxibustion Combined with Abdominal Acupuncture Therapy and Kegel Exercise in Treating 28 Females' Stress Urinary Incontinence

Abstract:Objective To examine the therapeutic effect of heat sensitive moxibustion combined with abdominal acupuncture therapy and Kegel exercise in treating female stress urinary incontinence (SUI).Methods Fifty-six female patients with SUI were randomized into treatment group and control group,28 cases in each group.The control group was treated by Kegel exercise and abdominal acupuncture therapy.The treatment group was added heat sensitive moxibustion.Heat sensitive moxibustion was given twice every day (once in the morning,once in the afternoon),45 minutes to 2 hours each time,for 5 days.From the 6th day,the moxibustion was given once every day,for 25 times.Abdominal acupuncture therapy was given once every day,retaining the needle for 25min each time,for 30 days.Kegel exercise was given three times every day,15 to 30minutes each time,for 30 days.Patients' 1-hour pad test leakage volume,leakage times and total scores of International Consultation on Incontinence Questionnaire-Short Form (ICIQ-SF) in both groups were examined before and after treatment.The clinical effect was evaluated.Results The total effective rate of clinical effect in the treatment group was 96.43％,while 75.00％ in the control group.The treatment group was superior to the control group (P ＜0.05).Compared before treatment,patients' 1-hour pad test leakage volume,leakage times and ICIQ-SF total scores in both groups decreased after treatment (P ＜0.01).Compared with the control group,patients' 1-hour pad test leakage volume,leakage times and ICIQ-SF total scores in the treatment group decreased (P ＜ 0.05).Conclusion Heat sensitive moxibustion combined with abdominal acupuncture therapy and Kegel exercise treating female SUI might improve female leakage symptoms of incontinence and improve their life quality.
Influence of biofeedback therapy on the pelvic floor muscle and urodynamic state of patients with stress in-continence

Abstract:Objectives:To study and observe the influence of biofeedback therapy on the pelvic floor mus-cle and urodynamic state of patients with stress incontinence.Methods:60 patients with stress incontinence in our hospital from April 2011 to April 2014 were selected and randomly divided into control group (conventional pelvic floor muscle training group)and observation group (biofeedback therapy group),30 cases in each group.The mic-turition related indexes,pelvic floor muscle,urine pad test and ICS urinary incontinence quality of life question-naire,urodynamic indexes of two groups before the treatment and 4th and 8th week after the treatment were respec-tively detected and compared.Results:The micturition related indexes,pelvic floor muscle and urodynamic indexes of the observation group at 4th and 8th week after the treatment were all significantly better than those of control group,all P <0.05,with significant differences.Conclusion:The influence of biofeedback therapy for the pelvic floor muscle and urodynamic state of patients with stress incontinence is great,which is more helpful for the effective and quick improvement of disease.
Efficacy of optimized pelvic floor training of YUN combined with pelvic floor magnetic stimulation on female moderate stress urinary incontinence and sexual function: a retrospective cohort study

Abstract:Background: Owing to its tediousness and monotony, traditional pelvic floor muscle training (PFMT) is difficult to ensure the correctness of exercise, and it is difficult for patients to adhere to treatment. We designed this study to evaluate and analyze the efficacy of optimized pelvic floor training of YUN combined with pelvic floor magnetic stimulation on female moderate stress urinary incontinence (SUI) and sexual function.Methods: This is a retrospective cohort study. This study was carried out in 95 female patients with moderate SUI. The inclusion criteria were as follows: premenopausal women aged 25-45; moderate SUI; over 3 months of disease duration; informed consent and cooperation with treatment and follow-up. The participants in group 1 (control group, n=46) were treated with pelvic floor magnetic stimulation, while those in group 2 (trial group, n=49) were treated with pelvic floor magnetic stimulation combined with optimized pelvic floor training of YUN. Evaluations were scheduled before the treatment (0 week), after 6 weeks of treatment (6 weeks), and after 12 weeks of treatment (12 weeks). And compare the differences between the two groups.Results: There was no significant difference in age, body mass index (BMI), duration of disease, and abdominal leak point pressure (ALPP) between the two groups (P>0.05). The total effective rate of the trial group was higher than that of the control group (89.80%, 44/49 <i>vs.</i> 78.26%, 36/46) (P<0.05). The electromyographic values, the International Consultation on Incontinence Questionnaire Short Form (ICI-Q-SF) score, Pelvic Organ Prolapse/Urinary Incontinence Sexual Questionnaire-12 (PISQ-12) score, physiological factors, and emotional factors were all improved significantly in both groups after active treatment, and the improvement of the trial group was more obvious (P<0.05).Conclusions: Optimized pelvic floor training of YUN combined with pelvic floor magnetic are more effective for the treatment of female moderate SUI and sexual function. It has become a safe, effective, and well tolerated new type of pelvic floor functional reconstruction training method with good patient compliance.

Clinical Observation of Acupuncture Combined with Biofeedback Electrical Stimulation in the Treatment of Female Stress Urinary Incontinence

Abstract:To investigate the clinical efficacy of acupuncture combined with biofeedback electrical stimulation on female stress urinary incontinence. Ninety patients diagnosed in a hospital between January 2020 and January 2021 were randomly divided into three groups (A, B and C). Group A was treated with biofeedback electrical stimulation, 3 times a week for 30 min for 15 times. Group B used acupuncture treatment, including Guanyuan, Qihai, Zhongji, Zusanli, Sanyinjiao and Yinlingquan, once a day, Monday-Friday, 30 min each, for a total of 10 times. Group C was treated with acupuncture combined with biofeedback electrical stimulation. All three groups were combined with pelvic floor muscle training. Following treatment, the changes in class I and II muscle fibre strength, ICI-Q-SF score and urine leakage in the 1-hour pad test were compared. Prior to treatment, there was no significant difference in the general data of the three patient groups, as well as class I and II muscle fibre strength, ICI-Q-SF score and 1-hour urinary pad test (P > 0.05). Following treatment, class I and II muscle fibre strength in groups A and C improved compared with before, with statistical significance (P < 0.05); there was no significant difference in group B (P > 0.05). In the three groups, ICI-Q-SF scores and 1-hour urinary pad test results were lower compared with before (P < 0.05), with those in group C better than those in groups A and B (P < 0.05). The treatment efficiency of the three patient groups was 86.7%, 83.3% and 96.7%, respectively. Combined acupuncture and biofeedback electrical stimulation can improve pelvic floor muscle strength, urine leakage and quality of life, and can be superior to biofeedback and acupuncture treatment alone.
The Effectiveness of Adding Transvaginal Radiofrequency to Pelvic Floor Muscle Training for 6 Weeks in Women with Stress Urinary Incontinence. A Double-Blind Randomised Controlled Trial

Abstract:Introduction and hypothesis: The objective was to evaluate the clinically beneficial effect of adding transvaginal monopolar non-ablative radiofrequency (RF) to pelvic floor muscle training (PFMT) on leakage severity, quality of life and urinary incontinence-related symptoms in women with stress urinary incontinence (SUI). Methods: A double-blind randomised controlled trial was conducted, with a 6-week intervention and a 6-month follow-up. Participants were randomly assigned to the experimental group (PFMT plus RF; n = 18) or the control group (PFMT plus placebo; n = 20). The primary outcome was the International Consultation on Incontinence Questionnaire Short Form (ICIQ-SF). Secondary outcomes included the Pelvic Floor Distress Inventory-20 (PFDI-20) and the Pelvic Floor Impact Questionnaire-7 (PFIQ-7), self-efficacy, female sexual function, pelvic floor muscle dynamometry, 1-h pad test and number of SUI episodes per week. Inferential analyses of the data were performed using a two-factor analysis of variance. Results: Both groups achieved a statistically significant improvement in ICIQ-SF over time. However, the differences observed in the experimental group exceeded the minimal clinically important differences by 4 points (MD = -9.4, 95% CI = -12.6 to -6.3), which was not observed in the control group (MD = -3.9, 95% CI = -6.9 to -1.0). This was maintained at the 6-month follow-up with a significant time*group interaction (p < 0.001, ηp2 = 0.150). There was no time*group interaction in the other variables (p > 0.05). Additionally, a significant difference in favour of the experimental group was observed in the 1-h pad test and episodes of SUI per week (p < 0.05). Conclusions: This study highlights the beneficial effects of adding transvaginal RF to PFMT on the severity and amount of leakage, as well as on the quality of life and urinary incontinence-related symptoms in women with moderate SUI. Future trials are needed to assess the effects of this intervention in women with severe SUI.

Abstract:! This project describes an approach to create an On-the-fly Map Generator for Openstreetmap Data Using WebGL. The most common methods to generate online maps generate PNG overlay tile images from a wide range of data sources, like GeoJSON, GeoTIFF, PostGIS, CSV, and SQLite, etc., based on the coordinates and zoom-level. This project aims to send vector data for the map to the browser and hence render maps on-the-fly using WebGL. We push all of the vector computation to the GPU. This means that less data needs to be sent to the browser. We have compared existing approaches to our method of generating maps and have been able to show that our method provides a faster and better solution.
LARGE-SCALE STRUCTURE AROUND A z = 2.1 CLUSTER

Abstract:The most prodigious starburst galaxies are absent in massive galaxy clusters today, but their connection with large-scale environments is less clear at . We present a search of large-scale structure around a galaxy cluster core at z = 2.095 using a set of spectroscopically confirmed galaxies. We find that both color-selected star-forming galaxies (SFGs) and dusty star-forming galaxies (DSFGs) show significant overdensities around the z = 2.095 cluster. A total of eight DSFGs (including three X-ray luminous active galactic nuclei, AGNs) and 34 SFGs are found within a 10′ radius (corresponds to ∼15 cMpc at ) from the cluster center and within a redshift range of , which leads to galaxy overdensities of and . The cluster core and the extended DSFG- and SFG-rich structures together demonstrate an active cluster formation phase, in which the cluster is accreting a significant amount of material from large-scale structure while the more mature core may begin to virialize. Our finding of this DSFG-rich structure, along with a number of other protoclusters with excess DSFGs and AGNs found to date, suggest that the overdensities of these rare sources indeed trace significant mass overdensities. However, it remains puzzling how these intense star formers are triggered concurrently. Although an increased probability of galaxy interactions and/or enhanced gas supply can trigger the excess of DSFGs, our stacking analysis based on 850 μm images and morphological analysis based on rest-frame optical imaging do not show such enhancements of merger fraction and gas content in this structure.
Effect of different interventions on the efficacy of postpartum urinary incontinence in China: A systematic review and network meta-analysis

Abstract:Background: Currently, numerous treatment measures exist for postpartum stress urinary incontinence (PSUI); however, the study results are inconsistent. Method: Computer searches of PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, CKNI, and Wanfang databases were conducted to search the literature on 13 different intervention modalities for PSUI from the date of establishment to January 2023 for analysis. The literature was independently screened, and the information was extracted by 2 researchers. A reticulated meta-analysis was conducted using Stata software. Results: The findings of the reticulated meta-analysis revealed that, in terms of the effectiveness of the 13 interventions for treating PSUI from highest to lowest, the most effective was acupressure + pelvic floor muscle training (94.6%). Following this, the interventions ranked from best to worst were electroacupuncture + trans moxibustion (79.1%), pelvic floor muscle training + acupuncture (64.3%), pelvic floor muscle training + pelvic floor electrical stimulation (60.3%), biofeedback electrical stimulation + acupuncture (60.0%), pelvic floor muscle training + biofeedback electrical stimulation (59.8%), biofeedback electrical stimulation + acupuncture + herbal hot compresses (56.6%), moxibustion + pelvic floor muscle training (56.6%), pelvic floor muscle training + pelvic floor electrical stimulation + acupuncture (53.1%), biofeedback electrical stimulation + moxibustion (52.1%), pelvic floor muscle training (17.6%), biofeedback electrical stimulation (16.1%), and health coaching (0.2%). The evidence indicates that acupressure + pelvic floor muscle training may be the most effective intervention for treating PSUI occurrence. Conclusion: Improvement in 13 clinical indicators was observed in patients with PSUI, and significant enhancement was achieved through acupressure + pelvic floor muscle training.
Electroacupuncture for stress-predominant mixed urinary incontinence: a protocol for a three-armed randomised controlled trial

Abstract:Introduction Evidence specific for stress-predominant mixed urinary incontinence is still lacking at present, and acupuncture may relieve the symptoms. We plan to conduct this multi-centre, three-armed, randomised controlled trial to investigate the efficacy and safety of electroacupuncture among women with stress-predominant mixed urinary incontinence. Methods and analysis The trial will be conducted at five hospitals in China. Two hundred thirty-two eligible women will be randomly assigned (2:1:1) to the electroacupuncture, sham electroacupuncture or waiting-list group to receive either 24-session acupuncture/sham acupuncture treatment over 8 weeks and 24-week follow-up or 20-week watchful waiting. The primary outcome is the proportion of participants with at least 50% reduction in mean 24-hour stress incontinence episode frequencies from baseline to week 8. The outcome will be analysed with the intention to treatpopulation (defined as participants randomised) with a two-sided p value of less than 0.05 considered significant. Ethics and dissemination The protocol has been approved by Guang’anmen Hospital Institutional Review Board (2019-241-KY). Detailed information of the trial will be informed to the participants, and written informed consent will be obtained from every participant. Results of the trial are expected to be published in a peer-reviewed journal. Trial registration number ClinicalTrials.gov Registry ( NCT04299932 ).

Application of two stages adaptive neural network approach for short-term forecast of electric power systems

Abstract:The paper presents the two-stapes adaptive approach for short-term forecast of parameters of expected operating conditions. The first stage involves decomposition of the time series into intrinsic modal functions and subsequent application of the Hilbert transform. During the second stage the computed modal functions and amplitudes are employed as input functions for artificial neural networks. Their optimal combinations is constructed using methods of simulated annealing and neural-genetic input selection approach. The efficiency of developed approach is demonstrated on real time the problem of forecasting power flow and voltage level.
Long-term efficacy of the pelvic floor muscle rehabilitation for women with stress urinary incontinence

Abstract:Objectives: Stress urinary incontinence is a common disease with many therapeutic ways, but it lacks long-term follow-up. This study aims to conduct a retrospective study on the long-term efficacy of women with mild and moderate stress urinary incontinence after pelvic floor rehabilitation treatment for 3-years so as to provide a more effective treatment plan for this disease. Methods: Data were collected from 279 female patients, who were diagnosed with stress urinary incontinence at the Pelvic Floor Rehabilitation Center of the Third Xiangya Hospital of Central South University from January 2017 to January 2019. All patients received health education and were instructed to perform Kegel exercises for 20 min daily at home. According to the treatment pattern, patients were divided into 3 groups as A, B, and C. Group A (n=94) received pelvic floor biofeedback, electrical stimulation and electroacupuncture; Group B (n=99) received pelvic floor biofeedback and electrical stimulation; Group C (n=86) only got pelvic floor function examinations and did not receive any pelvic floor treatment. The pelvic floor functional examinations included a pelvic floor electrophysiological test, pelvic organ prolapse quantitive examination (POP-Q), and stress urinary incontinence severity assessment. All patients were followed up with questionnaire consisting of the International Committee on Urinary Incontinence Questionnaire-Short Form (ICI-Q-SF) and the Quality of Life questionnaire of Urinary Incontinence (I-QOL) before and after the treatment, as well as at 1-, 2-, and 3-years after the treatment (5 times in total). Among the patients who received the treatment, 43 returned to the hospital, including 21 in group A (Group Areturn) and 22 in group B (Group Breturn). Pelvic floor electrophysiological test and POP-Q were performed on the 2 groups. Results: For the leakage rate at the end of the treatment and the following 1-, 2-, and 3-years: Group A<Group B<Group C, and the recurrence rate of their leakage remained stable after 2 to 3 years of the treatment (P<0.05). Meanwhile, there was no significant difference in the I-QOL scores between Group A and Group B at the end of the treatment (P>0.05), but the I-QOL scores of Group A and Group B were much higher than that in Group C (both P<0.05). On the other hand, the I-QOL scores at 1-, 2-, and 3-years after the treatment were Group A>Group B>Group C (all P<0.05). In addition, the ICI-Q-SF scores at the end of the treatment and 1-, 2-, and 3-years after the treatment were Group A<Group B<Group C (P<0.05). There was also a significant effect of delivery on I-QOL and ICI-Q-SF scores after the treatment (P<0.05). Besides, the production method also had an impact on the ICI-Q-SF scores after the treatment (P<0.05). The results of the re-evaluation showed that there was no significant difference in the anterior vaginal wall prolapse score (point Aa) between Group A return and Group Breturn at the end of the treatment, but 3 years later, the score of anterior vaginal wall prolapse in Group Areturn was less than that in Group Breturn (P<0.05). Besides, no significant difference was found in the pelvic floor muscle strength between Group A return and Group Breturn at the end of the treatment (P>0.05). While the pelvic floor muscle strength in Group Areturn was much higher than that in Group Breturn (P<0.05) after 3 years of the treatment. What's more, the pelvic floor muscle potential in Group Areturn was much higher than that in Group Breturn (both P<0.05) at the end of the treatment and after 3 years of the treatment. Conclusions: Compared with pelvic floor biofeedback and electrical stimulation for stress urinary incontinence, electroacupuncture combined with pelvic floor electrical stimulation and biofeedback reveal more remarkable short-term efficacy and more stable long-term efficacy, which can significantly improve the quality of life in female patients.
Clinical Efficacy of Electroacupuncture at Sacral Four Points Combined with Moxibustion at Abdominal Three Points for Treating Post-Stroke Urinary Incontinence: Observations on Urodynamics, Quality of Life, and Safety

Abstract:Background: Urinary incontinence is a common complication following a stroke. No specific drugs are available in Western medicine, and surgical treatment is highly traumatic, limiting its clinical application. This study aimed to observe the clinical efficacy of electroacupuncture at the "Sacral Four Points" combined with moxibustion at the "Abdominal Three Points" on post-stroke urinary incontinence, exploring its impact on urodynamics and quality of life. Methods: Patients with post-stroke urinary incontinence treated at our Hospital from January 2021 to December 2023 were recruited. The study included 117 patients: 57 in the electroacupuncture group and 60 in the combined group. Urodynamic parameters were measured, and scores from the International Consultation on Incontinence Questionnaire-Urinary Incontinence Short Form (ICIQ-UI SF) and the Incontinence Quality of Life Questionnaire (I-QOL) were recorded before, and after the first and third courses of treatment. Clinical efficacy and adverse reactions were evaluated post-treatment. Results: The study found no significant differences in clinical characteristics between the groups (p > 0.05), providing a baseline for comparison. Both groups showed substantial decreases in leakage volume after one course of treatment (p < 0.05), with a reduction in the ICIQ-UI SF score (p < 0.05) and an increase in the I-QOL score (p < 0.05). After three courses of treatment, the leakage volume of patients in both groups significantly decreased (p < 0.05), the ICIQ-UI SF score decreased (p < 0.05), and the I-QOL score increased (p < 0.05). The combined group showed a lower leakage volume compared to the electroacupuncture group (p < 0.05), with lower ICIQ-UI SF scores (p = 0.027) and higher I-QOL scores (p = 0.048). Importantly, the total effective rate was significantly higher in the combined group (88.33% vs 64.91%, p = 0.037), demonstrating the safety and efficacy of the treatment. Conclusions: Electroacupuncture at the "Sacral Four Points" combined with moxibustion at the "Abdominal Three Points" improves the clinical symptoms and enhances the quality of life for patients with post-stroke urinary incontinence, showing superior results compared to electroacupuncture alone.

Abstract:ObjectiveTo observe the clinical efficacy of deep electroacupuncture (EA) at Baliao points in treating stress urinary incontinence (SUI).MethodsA total of 60 female patients with SUI were divided into two groups according to the order of consultation, with 30 cases in each group. The control group was treated with pelvic floor muscle training. The treatment group was treated with deep EA at Baliao points [Shangliao (BL 31), Ciliao (BL 32), Zhongliao (BL 33) and Xialiao (BL 34)].ResultsThe total effective rate was 93.3% in the treatment group, versus 33.3% in the control group, and the total effective rate of the treatment group was significantly higher than that of the control group (P<0.05). After treatment, the scores of international consultation on incontinence questionnaire-short form (ICIQ-SF) and the volume of urinary leakage in both groups were lower than those before treatment (all P<0.05), and the ICIQ-SF score and the volume of urinary leakage in the treatment group were lower than those in the control group (both P<0.05).ConclusionDeep EA at Baliao points with long needles can improve the clinical symptoms in female patients with SUI, and it has a better curative effect than pelvic floor muscle training.

Effects of Biofeedback-Guided Pelvic Floor Muscle Training With and Without Extracorporeal Magnetic Innervation Therapy on Stress Incontinence: A Randomized Controlled Trial

Abstract:Purpose: We evaluated the effects of biofeedback-guided pelvic floor muscle training (EMG-BF), with and without extracorporeal magnetic innervation (EMG-BF+ExMI) therapy on lower urinary tract symptoms based on frequency of stress urinary incontinence (SUI) and grams of urine loss, health-related quality of life, and sexual function in women with SUI. Design: This was a randomized controlled trial. Subjects and setting: The sample comprised 51 adult women with SUI. Their mean age was 50.92 years (SD 8.88). Twenty-six were randomly allocated to EMG-BF alone and 25 were allocated to undergo EMG-BF+ExMI. Methods: This study's main outcome was lower urinary tract symptoms measured via the 1-hour pad test (grams of urine loss) and a 3-day bladder diary (frequency of stress incontinence episodes). Additional outcome measures were health-related quality of life measured with the Incontinence Quality of Life (I-QOL) questionnaire, sexual function evaluated via the Female Sexual Function Index (FSFI), and pelvic floor muscle contraction force measured via a perineometer and Modified Oxford Scale (MOS). All participants underwent biofeedback-enhanced pelvic floor muscle training using EMG during 20-minute sessions twice weekly for a period of 8 weeks. In addition to the EMG-BF+ExMI group, ExMI was applied during 20-minute sessions twice weekly for a period of 8 weeks. Participants from both groups were asked to perform pelvic floor muscle exercises at home (60 pelvic floor muscle contractions daily, divided into 3 sessions of 20 contractions each). Outcome measures were made at baseline and repeated at the end of treatment. Results: Fifteen (57.7%) in the EMG-BF group and 13 (52.0%) in the EMG-BF+ExMI group achieved dryness. Four participants (15.4%) in the EMG-BF group and 5 (20%) in the EMG-BF+ExMI group experienced improvement. Seven patients (26.9%) in the EMG-BF group and 7 (28%) in the EMG-BF+ExMI group did not benefit from the treatments. There was no statistically significant difference between the groups in terms of cure and improvement (P = .895). Conclusions: Findings indicate that use of magnetic innervation does not improve lower urinary tract symptoms, health-related quality of life, sexual function, and pelvic floor muscle strength when compared to pelvic floor muscle training alone.

Abstract:The aim of this study was to investigate how e-pelvic floor muscle training (e-PFMT) affected urinary incontinence (UI) symptoms and quality of life (QoL) in women with stress urinary incontinence (SUI). Fifty-five women with SUI symptoms were randomly assigned to the intervention ( n = 27) or the control ( n = 28) group. Both groups were given lifestyle advice about SUI. The intervention group performed e-PFMT three days a week, one day via videoconference, and was supervised by a physiotherapist for eight weeks. UI symptoms were assessed by the International Consultation on Incontinence Questionnaire-Urinary Incontinence Short Form (ICIQ-UI SF), the Incontinence Severity Index (ISI), the Urinary Distress Inventory−6 (UDI−6), and QoL was assessed by the King's Health Questionnaire (KHQ) before and after intervention. After intervention, the Patient Global Impression of Improvement (PGI-I) scale was used to assess improvement, and the Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) was used to assess adherence. While the intervention group's ICIQ-UI SF, ISI, and UDI−6 scores improved ( p .05). Except for personal relationship limitations, all KHQ scores improved in the intervention group. The control group's role limitations and sleep/energy disturbances scores worsened. ICIQ-UI SF ( p = .004), ISI ( p < .001), and UDI−6 ( p < .001) scores of the intervention group were improved compared to the control group. PGI-I and adherence were found to be higher in the intervention group compared to the control group. e-PFMT performed via videoconference to women with SUI, was found to be effective in improving UI symptoms and QoL as compared to lifestyle instructions only.

Abstract:Review question / Objective: Participants: Female patients who are diagnosed with SUI according to any widely recognized and accepted criteria, regardless of their age, ethnicity, education, or social status. Interventions: The treatment used in the experimental group mainly includes acupuncture, electroacupuncture, warm needle acupuncture, stick-moxibustion, direct-moxibustion, partition moxibustion, or one of the above therapies combined with traditional Chinese medicine or pelvic floor muscle exercise. Comparator/control: The control groups were treated with conventional western medicine, pelvic floor muscle exercise, electrical stimulation, or placebo. Outcome indicators: (1) Primary outcomes: effective rate, urine leakage in 1-hour pad test; (2) Secondary outcomes: International Consultation on Incontinence Questionnaire-Short Form (ICIQ-SF) score, pelvic floor muscle strength, frequency of 24-hour urinary incontinence, and adverse reactions. Types of studies: Peer-reviewed SRs and MAs based on randomized controlled trials (RCTs) will be included in this overview.
Effect of Acupuncture for Mixed Urinary Incontinence in Women: A Systematic Review

Abstract:Background Mixed urinary incontinence increasingly undermines women's quality of life. Previous studies showed some effects of acupuncture for MUI, but no systematic review has been done to evaluate the efficacy and safety of acupuncture for MUI in women. Objective To systematically review the efficacy and safety of acupuncture for women with MUI. Methods Ten databases (i.e., PubMed, Web of Science, Embase, ClinicalTrials.gov, the Cochrane Library, CBM, Scoups, CNKI, VIP and WANFANG DATA) were searched up to July 19th, 2021, using tailored search strategies with keywords not limited to “female,” “mixed urinary incontinence,” “acupuncture,” and “randomized controlled trial,” etc. RCTs and quasi-RCTs were included if investigating effect of any type of acupuncture for female patients with MUI. Data were extracted from eligible studies, and risks of bias were assessed according to the Cochrane Handbook from seven aspects using the RevMan 5.4 software. Results A total of three randomized studies with 591 women were included. The risk of bias among the studies varied, with major concerns on blinding of participants and outcome assessor. Liu's study (497) mainly showed that electroacupuncture's effect on reduction of numbers of incontinence, urgency, nocturia episodes, and amount of urine leakage etc. was not inferior to that of PFMT-Solifenacin group at 12, 24, and 36 weeks. Zhan's study (60) showed that electroacupuncture reduced significantly more amount of urine leakage than Tolterodine at 8 weeks, with no data on incontinence episodes frequency. All 3 studies reported that acupuncture significantly increased the quality of life assessed by ICIQ score. In addition, incidence of acupuncture-related adverse events was rare, while antimuscarinic agents related adverse events were common in two studies. Conclusion Although acupuncture showed some benefit for women with MUI, more evidences were required to draw a solid conclusion of effectiveness and safety of acupuncture for women with MUI.
