Abstract:The allure of urban green spaces has captured the attention of researchers, especially in regions abundant in botanical wonders worldwide. Surprisingly, the case of Morocco, a country with a strong botanical tradition, has received little attention from researchers. Here, we explore the unique case of the emblematic "Majorelle Garden" in Marrakech, southern Morocco, through the reviews of its many visitors posted on the TripAdvisor platform. This article looks at the question "to what extent can a garden—such as the Majorelle—be a major attraction in a cultural tourist destination?". Methodologically, we adopted a quantitative approach, examining visitors' sentiments using the VADER tool from 2006 to 2023, and classifying them into three categories: negative, neutral, and positive. Furthermore, by utilizing LDA (latent Dirichlet allocation), we uncover key topics running through visitors' experiences. Our findings show that positive sentiments prevail, given the culturo-historical and symbolic quality of the garden as a crucible and vector of creativity, with the emergence of sub-corpuses that highlight certain divergences and convergences around the "Majorelle" case. This insight supports sustainability efforts by empowering the managers of the garden studied and industry professionals to develop and implement relevant strategies for managing and marketing the garden tourism attraction experience. In addition, this case study shows how a private urban garden reveals its key role in preserving cultural and botanical heritage, essential for future generations. It shows the garden's positive impact on sustainable tourism through its ability to attract cultural visitors who appreciate and respect the local environment.

Abstract:The rise of social media such as blogs and social networks has fueled interest in sentiment analysis. With the proliferation of reviews, ratings, recommendations and other forms of online expression, online opinion has turned into a kind of virtual currency for businesses looking to market their products, identify new opportunities and manage their reputations, therefore many are now looking to the field of sentiment analysis. In this paper, we present a feature-based sentence level approach for Arabic sentiment analysis. Our approach is using Arabic idioms/saying phrases lexicon as a key importance for improving the detection of the sentiment polarity in Arabic sentences as well as a number of novels and rich set of linguistically motivated features contextual Intensifiers, contextual Shifter and negation handling), syntactic features for conflicting phrases which enhance the sentiment classification accuracy. Furthermore, we introduce an automatic expandable wide coverage polarity lexicon of Arabic sentiment words. The lexicon is built with gold-standard sentiment words as a seed which is manually collected and annotated and it expands and detects the sentiment orientation automatically of new sentiment words using synset aggregation technique and free online Arabic lexicons and thesauruses. Our data focus on modern standard Arabic (MSA) and Egyptian dialectal Arabic tweets and microblogs (hotel reservation, product reviews, etc.). The experimental results using our resources and techniques with SVM classifier indicate high performance levels, with accuracies of over 95%.
Analyzing TripAdvisor application reviews to enable smart tourism : focusing on topic modeling

Abstract:The development of information and communication technology and the improvement of the development and dissemination of smart devices have caused changes in the form of tourism, and the concept of smart tourism has since emerged. In this regard, researches related to smart tourism has been conducted in various fields such as policy implementation and surveys, but there is a lack of research on application reviews. This study collects Trip Advisor application review data in the Google Play Store to identify usage of the application and user satisfaction through Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA) topic modeling. The analysis results in four topics, two of which are positive and the other two are negative. We found that users were satisfied with the application's recommendation system, but were dissatisfied when the filters they set during search were not applied or that reviews were not published after updates of the application. We suggest more categories can be added to the application to provide users with different experiences. In addition, it is expected that user satisfaction can be improved by identifying problems within the application, including the filter function, and checking the application environment and resolving the error occurring during the application usage.

Abstract:The subject of sentiment analysis through social media sites has witnessed significant development due to the increasing reliance of people on social media in advertising and marketing, especially after the Corona pandemic. There is no doubt that the prevalence of the Arabic language makes it considered one of the most important languages all over the world. Through human comments, it can know things if they are positive or negative. But in fact, the comments are many, and it takes work to evaluate the place or the product through a detailed reading of each comment. Therefore, this study applied deep learning approaches to this issue to provide final results that could be utilized to differentiate between the comments in the dataset. Arabic Sentiment Analysis was used and gave a percentage for each positive and negative commentary. This work used eight methods of deep learning techniques after using Fast Text as embedding, except Ara BERT. These techniques are the transformer (AraBERT), RNN (Long short-term memory (LSTM), Bidirectional long-short term memory (BI-LSTM), Gated recurrent units (GRUs), Bidirectional Gated recurrent units (BI-GRU)), CNN (like ALEXNET, proposed CNN), and ensemble model (CNN with BI-GRU). The Hotel Arabic Reviews Dataset was utilized to test the models. This paper obtained the following results. In the Ara BERT model, the accuracy is 96.442%. In CNN, like the Alex Net model, the accuracy is 93.78%. In the suggested CNN model, the accuracy is 94.43%. In the suggested LSTM model, the accuracy is 95%. In the suggested BI-LSTM model, the accuracy is 95.11%. The accuracy of the suggested GRU model is 95.07%. The accuracy of the suggested BI-GRU model is 95.02%. The accuracy is 94.52% in the Ensemble CNN with BI-GRU model that has been proposed. Consequently, the AraBERT outperformed the other approaches in terms of accuracy. Because the AraBERT has already been trained on some Arabic Wikipedia entries. The LSTM, BI-LSTM, GRU, and BI-GRU, on the other hand, had comparable outcomes.

Abstract:Online tourism evaluations are a valuable origin of data for traveler organizations, defining as they could be excellently recognized critically prompting traveler opinion-designing using opinion mining. As technology advanced, online review forums of any organization become an attractive source of communication with them, where people can share their views in the form of comments. The main determination of this research article is to recognize normal topics and connect them to contrasts in web-based travel reviews. Online millions of reviews, got from two significant web-based travel organizations (Uber, and Careem) in Pakistan, and a semantic affiliation examination was utilized to extract thematic words and construct a semantic affiliation organization. In the Python programming language, we use natural language processing (NLP), which includes data cleansing and tokenization. The results of network visualization are able to evidently recognize main topics and thematic words with social network associations. The proposed logical system extends our grip on the strategic complications and gives new points of view on the best way to dig popular assessments to assist vacationers, inns, and travel industry organizations.

Abstract:Sentiment analysis has become one of the most active research areas in natural language processing, and the Arabic language retains its importance in this field. It is so because of the increased use of Arabic on the internet that pushes many users to share their views or thoughts about certain products and services. Despite its crucial importance, most of the existing Arabic sentiment analysis studies have been performed on document or sentence levels with little attention to the aspect level. However, the aspect level's main objective, also known as aspect-based sentiment analysis, is to extract the discussed aspects and identify their related sentiment polarities from a given review or text. The result is to provide more detailed information than general sentiment analysis. Therefore, this paper seeks to provide a comprehensive review of the Arabic aspect-based sentiment analysis studies and highlights the main challenges that face the different proposed approaches. The relevant gaps in the current literature and the future research directions in this area are also discussed. This survey can guide future researchers who want to contribute to the improvement of this domain.

Abstract:Purpose This study aims to conduct a systematic review and critically analyze the sentiment analysis literature in hospitality and tourism from methodological (data sets and analyzes) and thematic (topics, theories, key constructs and their relationships) perspectives. Design/methodology/approach Qualitative thematic review and quantitative systematic review were performed on 70 papers obtained from hospitality and tourism categories of two databases, namely, Web of Science and Scopus. Findings A total of 5 topics and 27 sub-topics were identified and the major theme is market intelligence. Sentiment variables were investigated not only as independent but also as dependent variables. The customer rating is the most investigated dependent variable, whereas moderators and mediators were rarely tested. Most reviewed studies did not use theory. The findings from the methodological review show that analysis of big data was rare. Moreover, testing the performance of sentiment analyzes was uncommon, and only one paper tested the performance of aspect/feature extraction. Research limitations/implications This study extends prior review studies by providing a comprehensive view of how knowledge and methodologies of sentiment analysis have developed. The identified themes and key constructs serve as a solid base for future knowledge advancement. Future research directions on sentiment analysis are also provided. Originality/value To the best of the authors’ knowledge, this study is the first comprehensive methodological and thematic review of sentiment analysis in hospitality and tourism. Based on the identified findings, the authors propose several directions for future research.

Abstract:With the emergence of Web 2.0 technology and the expansion of on-line social networks, current Internet users have the ability to add their reviews, ratings and opinions on social media and on commercial and news web sites. Sentiment analysis aims to classify these reviews reviews in an automatic way. In the literature, there are numerous approaches proposed for automatic sentiment analysis for different language contexts. Each language has its own properties that makes the sentiment analysis more challenging. In this regard, this work presents a comprehensive survey of existing Arabic sentiment analysis studies, and covers the various approaches and techniques proposed in the literature. Moreover, we highlight the main difficulties and challenges of Arabic sentiment analysis, and the proposed techniques in literature to overcome these barriers.

Abstract:Airport service quality evaluation is commonly found on social media, including Google Maps. This valuable for airport management in order to enhance the quality of services provided. However; prior studies either provide general review for topics discussed by travellers or provide sentimental value to tag the entire review without specifically mentioning the airport service that is behind such value. Accordingly, this work proposes using aspect based sentimental analysis in order to provide more detailed analysis for travellers reviews. This works applied aspect based sentimental analysis on data collected from Google Map about Dubai and Doha airports. The results provide tangible reasons to use aspect based sentimental analysis in order to understand more the travellers and spot airport services that are in need for improvement.

Abstract:Sentiment analysis involves using computational methods to identify and classify opinions expressed in text, with the goal of determining whether the writer's stance towards a particular topic, product, or idea is positive, negative, or neutral. However, sentiment analysis in Arabic presents unique challenges due to the complexity of Arabic morphology and the variety of dialects, which make language classification even more difficult. To address these challenges, we conducted to investigation and overview the techniques used in the last five years for embedding and classification of Arabic sentiment analysis (ASA). We collected data from 100 publications, resulting in a representative dataset of 2,300 detailed records that included attributes related to the dataset, feature extraction, approach, parameters, and performance measures. Our study aimed to identify the most powerful approaches and best model settings by analyzing the collected data to identify the significant parameters influencing performance. The results showed that Deep Learning and Machine Learning were the most commonly used techniques, followed by lexicon and transformer-based techniques. However, Deep Learning models were found to be more accurate for sentiment classification than other Machine Learning models. Furthermore, multi-level embedding was found to be a significant step in improving model accuracy.

Customer decision-making analysis based on big social data using machine learning: a case study of hotels in Mecca

Abstract:Big social data and user-generated content have emerged as important sources of timely and rich knowledge to detect customers' behavioral patterns. Revealing customer satisfaction through the use of user-generated content has been a significant issue in business, especially in the tourism and hospitality context. There have been many studies on customer satisfaction that take quantitative survey approaches. However, revealing customer satisfaction using big social data in the form of eWOM (electronic word of mouth) can be an effective way to better understand customers' demands. In this study, we aim to develop a hybrid methodology based on supervised learning, text mining, and segmentation machine learning approaches to analyze big social data on travelers' decision-making regarding hotels in Mecca, Saudi Arabia. To do so, we use support vector regression with sequential minimal optimization (SMO), latent Dirichlet allocation (LDA), and k-means approaches to develop the hybrid method. We collect data from travelers' online reviews of Mecca hotels on TripAdvisor. The data are segmented, and travelers' satisfaction is revealed for each segment based on their online reviews of hotels. The results show that the method is effective for big social data analysis and traveler segmentation in Mecca hotels. The results are discussed, and several recommendations and strategies for hotel managers are provided to enhance their service quality and improve customer satisfaction.

Abstract:The opinions and feelings expressed by tourists in their reviews intuitively represent tourists' evaluation of travel destinations with distinct tones and strong emotions. Both consumers and product/service providers need help understanding and navigating the resulting information spaces, which are vast and dynamic. Traditional sentiment analysis is mostly based on statistics, which can analyze the sentiment of a large number of texts. However, it is difficult to classify the overall sentiment of a text, and the context-independent nature limits their representative power in a rich context, hurting performance in Natural Language Processing (NLP) tasks. This work proposes an aspect-based sentiment analysis model by extracting aspect-category and corresponding sentiment polarity from tourists' reviews, based on the Bidirectional Encoder Representation from Transformers (BERT) model. First, we design a text enhancement strategy which utilizes iterative translation across multiple languages, to generate a dataset of 4,000 reviews by extending a dataset of 2,000 online reviews on 1,000 tourist attractions. Then, the enhanced dataset is reorganized into 10 classifications by the Term Frequency-Inverse Document Frequency (TF-IDF) method. Finally, the aspect-based sentiment analysis is performed on the enhanced dataset, and the obtained sentiment polarity classification and prediction of the tourism review data make the expectations and appeals in tourists' language available. The experimental study generates generic and personalized recommendations for users based on the emotions in the language and helps merchants achieve more effective service and product upgrades.

Abstract:Abstract Social media has great importance in the community for discussing many events and sharing them with others. The primary goal of this research is to study the quality of the sentiment analysis (SA) of impressions about Saudi cruises, as a first event, by creating datasets from three selected social media platforms (Instagram, Snapchat, and Twitter). The outcome of this study will help in understanding opinions of passengers and viewers about their first Saudi cruise experiences by analyzing their feelings from social media posts. After cleaning, this experiment contains 1200 samples. The data was classified into positive or negative classes using the choice of machine learning algorithms, such as multilayer perceptron (MLP), naıve bayes (NB), random forest (RF), support vector machine (SVM), and voting. The results show the highest classification accuracy for the RF algorithm, as it achieved 100% accuracy with over-sampled data from Snapchat using both test options. The algorithms were compared among the three different datasets. All algorithms achieved a high level of accuracy. Hence, the results show that 80% of the sentiments were positive while 20% were negative.

Abstract:Meanwhile, products and services reviews' provide a guide for potential customers allowing them to reach real knowledge about such products/services while making decisions. Sentiment classification is the task of analyzing opinions expressed in textual reviews automatically. The efficiency of this task is influenced by the set of representative features extracted from the reviews. Nevertheless, the value of extracted features lies as well in those that highly contribute to the classification process. Here comes the role of dimensionality reduction to eliminate the noise and reduce the feature high space while preserving required accuracies. The Arabic language and its datasets have inherent challenges. Besides, most sentiment classification studies integrating dimensionality reduction have focused on English texts, with only few studies conducted for other languages including Arabic. Massive amounts of Arabic data have been generated due to the huge population of the Arab world, and despite that, the aforementioned technical gaps are still existing for such language. This paper proposes a supervised learning approach for Arabic reviews sentiment classification. This approach utilizes optimized compact features that depend on a well representative feature set coupled with feature reduction techniques, which manages to guarantee high accuracy and time/space savings simultaneously. The employed feature set includes a triple combination of N-gram features and positive/negative N-grams counts features obtained after considering negation handling. The proposed approach examines two different linear transformation methods; principal component analysis (PCA) as an unsupervised transformation method and latent Dirichlet allocation (LDA) as a supervised transformation method. A spam detection process is executed prior to the learning for the purpose of increasing the classifier robustness. The proposed approach has been experimented with five Arabic opinion text datasets, of different domains and varying sizes (1.6 up to 94 K reviews). Experiments have been conducted for two-class (positive/negative sentiments) and three-class (positive/negative/neutral sentiments) classification problems. Accuracy values have been recorded in the range of 95.5–99.8% for the two-class classification problem and 92–97.3% for the three-class classification problem. The LDA feature reduction outperformed PCA by an average of 4.34% and 3.52% in accuracy and F1 Score measures, respectively. The overall approach outperformed the existing related works in literature by far of 23% and 34% for accuracy and F1 Score, respectively. The experimental studies and the obtained results show the efficiency of the proposed solution, which employs optimized features that rely on integrating a feature reduction module, together with a well representative feature set based on negation handled triple combination of N-gram features and positive/negative N-grams counts features. The overall results demonstrate great improvement with 24% increase in accuracy, 93% savings in the feature space, and 97% decrease in the classification execution time.

Regrettably, some reviews are irrelevant, resulting in noisy statistics. Sentiment categorization algorithms based on aspects have showed potential in reducing noise. We proposed a framework for sentiment classification based on aspects that can not only detect aspects quickly but also execute classification tasks with high accuracy. The framework has been deployed to assists travellers in finding the best restaurant or lodging in a city, and its performance has been evaluated with outstanding results using real-world datasets. Abstract:Sentiment Analysis is a research field that studies human opinion, sentiment, evaluation, and emotions towards entities such as products, services, organizations, events, topics, and their attributes. It is also a task of natural language processing. However, sentiment analysis research has mainly been carried out for the English language. Although the Arabic language is one of the most used languages on the Internet, only a few studies have focused on Arabic language sentiment analysis. In this paper, a review of the most important research works in the field of Arabic text sentiment analysis using deep learning algorithms is presented. This review illustrates the main steps used in these studies, which include pre-processing, feature extraction and classification, as well as the datasets used. In the end, all the research works are compared in terms of their methodology and results. The findings demonstrated that the majority of deep learning models, including CNN and LSTM, outperformed many of the machine learning models analyzed, and that the size of the training datasets had a direct correlation with the model's performance. Where larger datasets resulted in more successful model training.
A comprehensive survey on sentiment analysis: Approaches, challenges and trends

Abstract:Sentiment analysis (SA), also called Opinion Mining (OM) is the task of extracting and analyzing people's opinions, sentiments, attitudes, perceptions, etc., towards different entities such as topics, products, and services. The fast evolution of Internet-based applications like websites, social networks, and blogs, leads people to generate enormous heaps of opinions and reviews about products, services, and day-to-day activities. Sentiment analysis poses as a powerful tool for businesses, governments, and researchers to extract and analyze public mood and views, gain business insight, and make better decisions. This paper presents a complete study of sentiment analysis approaches, challenges, and trends, to give researchers a global survey on sentiment analysis and its related fields. The paper presents the applications of sentiment analysis and describes the generic process of this task. Then, it reviews, compares, and investigates the used approaches to have an exhaustive view of their advantages and drawbacks. The challenges of sentiment analysis are discussed next to clarify future directions.

Hotel review analysis based on LDA model and KeyBert model

Abstract:The popularity of Internet applications and the continuous advancement of technology have made it easier for people to choose hotels. More and more people not only tend to book hotels through travel websites or software but also leave online reviews during their stay or after leaving the hotel. Almost all online bookers will carefully refer to reviews from previous customers of different hotels before making an order and then making a choice. In the past few years, many language models in the fields of machine learning and artificial intelligence have been widely used to analyze various texts. For reviews in areas such as hotels, most studies focus on sentiment analysis, that is, analyzing whether the sentiment in the reviews is positive or negative. Most previous studies used the LDA model to divide the topic words in the reviews or the KeyBert model to extract keywords from the text and compare and analyze them with other models. Some of these studies also used the hotel dataset compiled by Tan Songbo for analysis. Based on the theories of previous studies, this study uses the LDA model to extract and analyze different topic words of hotel reviews based on the hotel review data set compiled by Professor Tan Songbo to find out the advantages and disadvantages of the hotel. This study also uses the KeyBert model to extract the number of occurrences of specific keywords estimate the number of repeat customers by analyzing the keywords in the positive reviews, and estimate the number of non-target customer groups based on the keywords in the negative reviews. The research results are of great significance to the management and marketing decisions of the hotel, and can also provide better help to the hotel’s booker.
