Abstract:Recruitment strategy and policy are significantly affected by both the internal conditions of the enterprise and the external environment. It is important to anticipate and react to changes in the labor market in a timely manner, to eliminate potential threats and take advantage of opportunities to continuous staffing of current and future needs of the enterprise. The role of managers in deciding on possible techniques for recruiting employees is to respect the principles of sustainability both economically and socially. Due to the use of information technology, this trend is easier to apply in practice, as enterprises can present themselves and get information about potential job seekers. The success of the recruitment process is increasing if public awareness about the employer is positive. Designing the survey methodology was based on the axiom that traditional ways of recruiting employees are being replaced by techniques using the Internet and social networks. The aim of the paper is to present the views of domestic and foreign experts on the recruitment of employees using social networks. We compare the theoretical knowledge with the results of social networking research in SMEs in Slovakia and especially their use in the process of recruiting employees. A total of 324 enterprises with domestic and foreign capital share participated in the sociological questionnaire. The results have shown that enterprises with foreign capital share are more progressive in using the Internet to offer jobs and in gaining information on jobseekers through social networks.

Abstract:Social technologies are increasingly used in several organizational functions, including human resource management. The focus of this study is on social media adoption in employee recruitment and selection in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE). The theoretical lens used in this study is the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT), extended to include the impact of the recruiters' managerial position and educational level on technology adoption. Results obtained from partial least squares path modeling, using cross-sectional data collected from 224 recruiters, showed that the core hypotheses of the UTAUT were supported, namely the positive impact of performance expectancy, effort expectancy and social influence on behavioral intention, as well as the positive impact of facilitating conditions and behavioral intention on usage behavior. As expected, the recruiters' characteristics triggered many interaction effects, but none of them impacted facilitating conditions. Managerial implications are discussed and future research suggestions are provided.

Abstract:The use of virtual agents in social coaching has increased rapidly in the last decade. In order to train the user in different situations than can occur in real life, the virtual agent should be able to express different social attitudes. In this paper, we propose a model of social attitudes that enables a virtual agent to reason on the appropriate social attitude to express during the interaction with a user given the course of the interaction, but also the emotions, mood and personality of the agent. Moreover, the model enables the virtual agent to display its social attitude through its non-verbal behaviour. The proposed model has been developed in the context of job interview simulation. The methodology used to develop such a model combined a theoretical and an empirical approach. Indeed, the model is based both on the literature in Human and Social Sciences on social attitudes but also on the analysis of an audiovisual corpus of job interviews and on post-hoc interviews with the recruiters on their expressed attitudes during the job interview.

Learning a Probabilistic Semantic Model from Heterogeneous Social Networks for Relationship Identification

Abstract:Nowadays, social networks play an important role in our lives, in which information and knowledge are exchanged, shared and transformed. With time, large volumes of real-world data have been accumulated capturing diversified application domains. However, heterogeneity and incompleteness of data make social networks perform as 'data isolated islands' separated to each other. In this paper, we propose a generic approach that consists of an ontology-based social network integration approach and a statistic learning method towards the Semantic Web data. In particular, an extended FOAF (Friend-Of-A-Friend) ontology is used as the mediation schema to integrate social networks and a hybrid entity reconciliation method is used to resolve entities of different data sources. We also present an analyzing approach that learns a probabilistic semantic model (PSM) from social data for relationship identification. Empirical results prove that, compared with single numeric or logical methods respectively, our hybrid reconciliation method has obvious improvements on precision and recall during combining LinkedIn.com and DBLP. In addition, PSM framework can reserve richer semantics of semantic data completely during data analysis.

Abstract:Social networks have become a common part of many people’s daily lives. Users spend more and more time on these platforms and create an active and passive digital footprint through their interaction with other subjects. These data have high research potential in many fields, because understanding people’s communication on social media is essential to understanding their attitudes, experiences and behaviours. Social media analysis is a relatively new subject. There is still a need to develop methods and tools for researchers to help solve typical problems associated with this area. A researcher will be able to focus on the subject of research entirely. This article describes the Social Media Analysis based on Hashtag Research (SMAHR) framework, which uses social network analysis methods to explore social media communication through a network of hashtags. The results show that social media analysis based on hashtags provides information applicable to theoretical research and practical strategic marketing and management applications.

Abstract:Tato bakalarska praca sa zameriava na marketing socialnych medii a prezentovanie sa vybraných podnikov na socialnych mediach. Cieľom prace je analyzovať využivanie socialnych medii vo vybraných hoteloch v centre Prahy a v pripade zistenia nedostatkov odporuciť zlepsenia. Výskumnými vzorkami su dva hotelove reťazce a dva nezavisle hotely. Tato praca je rozdelena na tri hlavne casti. Prva kapitola sa sustreďuje na pojmy spojene s marketingom a socialnymi mediami. Nasledujuca kapitola vysvetľuje metodologiu a skuma analýzu vybraných hotelov. Pre analýzu bol zvolený riadený rozhovor a vlastna analýza ich socialnej prezentacie. Posledna casť je venovana pripadným odporucaniam a zlepseniam, ktore su založene na dvoch predchadzajucich kapitolach. V zavere sme dosli k výsledku, ktorý podporuje nazor, že spravne zacielený marketing na socialnych mediach zlepsuje celkový image znacky a komunikaciu so zakaznikom.

Social Media, Topic Modeling and Sentiment Analysis in Municipal Decision Support

Abstract:Many cities around the world are aspiring to become. However, smart initiatives often give little weight to the opinions of average citizens. Social media are one of the most important sources of citizen opinions. This paper presents a prototype of a framework for processing social media posts with municipal decision-making in mind. The framework consists of a sequence of three steps: (1) determining the sentiment polarity of each social media post (2) identifying prevalent topics and mapping these topics to individual posts, and (3) aggregating these two pieces of information into a fuzzy number representing the overall sentiment expressed towards each topic. Optionally, the fuzzy number can be reduced into a tuple of two real numbers indicating the "amount" of positive and negative opinion expressed towards each topic. The framework is demonstrated on tweets published from Ostrava, Czechia over a period of about two months. This application illustrates how fuzzy numbers represent sentiment in a richer way and capture the diversity of opinions expressed on social media.

Problems and Perspectives in Management

Abstract:A profile of manager represents characteristics of a person performing a managerial position, i.e., it includes qualities such as knowledge, skills, and competencies within a specific specialty that provides the ability to carry out managerial duties and responsibilities successfully. The reason for obtaining this information is to build a profile of managers in organizations providing social care, as this area has not been elaborated in detail in the Czech Republic.This study aims to identify and describe the profiles of managers in organizations providing social services in the South Bohemian Region. The study was conducted using semi-structured interviews with 24 managers of selected organizations providing social services in the South Bohemian Region until the information obtained was sufficient. Data were processed using open, selective, and axial coding. Managers were asked about their job descriptions, their skills and education, and the specifics of their duties and responsibilities within their organizations. The results show that manager profiles are influenced by the type of organization and the organization’s funding. The results of the study showed that specific managerial duties and responsibilities are based on the type of social service provided. These duties and responsibilities are also based on the clients of services and the frequency of services provided. Modeling Proficiency with Implicit User Representations

Abstract:We introduce the problem of proficiency modeling: Given a user's posts on a social media platform, the task is to identify the subset of posts or topics for which the user has some level of proficiency. This enables the filtering and ranking of social media posts on a given topic as per user proficiency. Unlike experts on a given topic, proficient users may not have received formal training and possess years of practical experience, but may be autodidacts, hobbyists, and people with sustained interest, enabling them to make genuine and original contributions to discourse. While predicting whether a user is an expert on a given topic imposes strong constraints on who is a true positive, proficiency modeling implies a graded scoring, relaxing these constraints. Put another way, many active social media users can be assumed to possess, or eventually acquire, some level of proficiency on topics relevant to their community. We tackle proficiency modeling in an unsupervised manner by utilizing user embeddings to model engagement with a given topic, as indicated by a user's preference for authoring related content. We investigate five alternative approaches to model proficiency, ranging from basic ones to an advanced, tailored user modeling approach, applied within two real-world benchmarks for evaluation.

Abstract:Nowadays, massive useful data of user information and social behavior have been accumulated on the Internet, providing a possibility of profiling user's personality traits online. In this paper, we propose a psychological modeling method based on computational linguistic features to profile Big Five personality traits of users on Sina Weibo (a Twitter-like microblogging service in China) and their correlations with user's social behaviors. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first research on investigating the potential relationship between profile information, social-network behaviors and personality traits of users on Sina Weibo. Our results demonstrate an effective modeling approach to understanding demographic and psychological portraits of users on social media without customer disruption, which is useful for commercial incorporations to provide better personalized products and services.

Abstract:User response to contributed content in online social media depends on many factors. These include how the site lays out new content, how frequently the user visits the site, how many friends the user follows, how active these friends are, as well as how interesting or useful the content is to the user. We present a stochastic modeling framework that relates a user's behavior to details of the site's user interface and user activity and describe a procedure for estimating model parameters from available data. We apply the model to study discussions of controversial topics on Twitter, specifically, to predict how followers of an advocate for a topic respond to the advocate's posts. We show that a model of user behavior that explicitly accounts for a user transitioning through a series of states before responding to an advocate's post better predicts response than models that fail to take these states into account. We demonstrate other benefits of stochastic models, such as their ability to identify users who are highly interested in advocate's posts.

Abstract:The proliferation of social network data has unlocked unprecedented opportunities for extensive, data-driven exploration of human behavior. The structural intricacies of social networks offer insights into various computational social science issues, particularly concerning social influence and information diffusion. However, modeling large-scale social network data comes with computational challenges. Though large language models make it easier than ever to model textual content, any advanced network representation methods struggle with scalability and efficient deployment to out-of-sample users. In response, we introduce a novel approach tailored for modeling social network data in user detection tasks. This innovative method integrates localized social network interactions with the capabilities of large language models. Operating under the premise of social network homophily, which posits that socially connected users share similarities, our approach is designed to address these challenges. We conduct a thorough evaluation of our method across seven real-world social network datasets, spanning a diverse range of topics and detection tasks, showcasing its applicability to advance research in computational social science.

Abstract:This study examines how social media pages can be used to influence potential applicants' attraction. Based on the uses and gratifications theory, this study examines whether organizations can manipulate the communication characteristics informativeness and social presence on their social media page to positively affect organizational attractiveness. Moreover, we examine whether job applicants' sought gratifications on social media influence these effects. A 2 × 2 between-subjects experimental design is used. The findings show that organizations can manipulate informativeness and social presence on their social media. The effect of manipulated informativeness on organizational attractiveness depends on the level of manipulated social presence. When social presence was high, informativeness positively affected organizational attractiveness. This positive effect was found regardless of participants' sought utilitarian gratification. Social presence had no significant main effect on organizational attractiveness. There was some evidence that the effect of social presence differed for different levels of social gratification.

Modeling communication asymmetry and content personalization in online social networks

Abstract:The increasing popularity of online social networks (OSNs) attracted growing interest in modeling social interactions. On online social platforms, a few individuals, commonly referred to as influencers, produce the majority of content consumed by users and hegemonize the landscape of the social debate. However, classical opinion models do not capture this communication asymmetry. We develop an opinion model inspired by observations on social media platforms {with two main objectives: first, to describe this inherent communication asymmetry in OSNs, and second, to model the effects of content personalization. We derive a Fokker-Planck equation for the temporal evolution of users' opinion distribution and analytically characterize the stationary system behavior. Analytical results, confirmed by Monte-Carlo simulations, show how strict forms of content personalization tend to radicalize user opinion, leading to the emergence of echo chambers, and favor structurally advantaged influencers. As an example application, we apply our model to Facebook data during the Italian government crisis in the summer of 2019. Our work provides a flexible framework to evaluate the impact of content personalization on the opinion formation process, focusing on the interaction between influential individuals and regular users. This framework is interesting in the context of marketing and advertising, misinformation spreading, politics and activism.

Abstract:Job seekers can utilize social media platforms to actively search for job opportunities and also receive unsolicited job offers from recruiters and employers. Using data from a representative sample of Finnish social media users, this article studies both aspects of social media job attainment by analyzing how much individuals successfully apply for jobs and get recruited to positions through social media. Results show that the prevalence of successfully applying to jobs through social media does not differ statistically between socio-economic groups, but the prevalence of getting recruited to jobs through social media is greater within higher socio-economic groups. LinkedIn users are more likely to get recruited to a job, while strategic networking and posting of professional content increase the chances of both successfully applying and getting recruited to a job through social media. The findings demonstrate that in social media-mediated job market, job seekers' online behavior affects one's exposure to job leads and career opportunities.

Abstract:The process of determining and understanding the emotional tone expressed in a text, with a focus on textual data, is referred to as sentiment analysis. This analysis facilitates the identification of whether the overall sentiment is positive, negative, or neutral. Sentiment analysis on social networks seeks valuable insight into public opinions, trends, and user sentiments. The main motivation is to enable informed decisions and an understanding of the dynamics of online discourse by businesses and researchers. Additionally, sentiment analysis plays a vital role in the field of hate speech detection, aiding in the identification and mitigation of harmful content on social networks. In this paper, studies on the sentiment analysis of texts in the Slovak language, as well as in other languages, are introduced. The primary aim of the paper, aside from releasing the "SentiSK" dataset to the public, is to evaluate our dataset by comparing its results with those of other existing datasets in the Slovak language. The "SentiSK" dataset, consisting of 34,006 comments, was created, specified, and annotated for the task of sentiment analysis. The proposed approach involved the utilization of three datasets in the Slovak language, with nine classification methods trained and compared in two defined tasks. For the first task, testing on the "SentiSK" and "Sentigrade" datasets involved three classes (positive, neutral, and negative). In the second task, testing on the "SentiSK", "Sentigrade", and "Slovak dataset for SA" datasets involved two classes (positive and negative). Selected models achieved an F1 score ranging from 75.35% to 95.04%.

Abstract:This paper examines a new approach to defining the task of personnel management in the digital age, taking into account the fundamental changes in internal communications stemming from an increasing use of digital platforms such as intranet, blogs, bulletin boards, instant messaging, and social networking sites. Personnel social media presence plays internal communication roles and thus relates to technologies of social profile analysis regarding employee interaction within the digital economy. The research aims at examining the task of personnel management based on data deriving from social media, for instance social networking sites and other social media tools, with the development of a relevant model for personnel management assessment. It could be shown that communication becomes one of the important aspects of personnel management, which consists of, i.e., human resources planning, recruitment, onboarding, assessment of individual work effects, as well as staff training, rewarding and motivating employees. Effective communication is a prerequisite for carrying out the above-mentioned tasks and performing work effectively. This means that the digital management of personnel can be viewed as a complex task, assuming that organizations operate less by using any formal connections and more by instilling in employees such feelings as feeling inspired, technologically advanced, and proud (on the basis of social media analytics). This paper presents theoretical foundations for developing a model for personnel management with consideration of the distinct employee features based on social media data and included in the assessment process. This allows the same approaches to be used for future research and modeling for assessing team effectiveness. In this paper, a methodological and instrumental solution to the current problem of creating the most effective work team in a digital ecosystem is proposed. The tools proposed to make it possible to create the most potentially effective work team based on the automated processing of natural information contained online on social profiles of potential members of the work team. At the same time, the level of communication compatibility acts as the criterion for the potential effectiveness of the work team. This is an innovative solution for the existing method of managing personnel.
