Abstract:Objective: To develop a drug facts label prototype for a combination mifepristone and misoprostol product and to conduct a label-comprehension study to assess understanding of key label concepts. Methods: We followed U.S. Food and Drug Administration guidance, engaged a multidisciplinary group of experts, and conducted cognitive interviews to develop a drug facts label prototype for medication abortion. To assess label comprehension, we developed 11 primary and 13 secondary communication objectives related to indications for use, eligibility, dosing regimen, contraindications, warning signs, side effects, and recognizing the risk of treatment failure, with corresponding target performance thresholds (80-90% accuracy). We conducted individual structured video interviews with people with a uterus aged 12-49 years, recruited through social media. Participants reviewed the drug facts label and responded to questions to assess their understanding of each communication objective. After transcribing and coding interviews, we estimated the proportion of correct responses and exact binomial 95% CIs by age and literacy group. Results: We interviewed 851 people (of 1,507 people scheduled); responses from 844 were eligible for analysis, and 35.7% (n=301) of participants were aged 12-17 years. The overall sample met performance criteria for 10 of the 11 primary communication objectives (93-99% correct) related to indications for use, eligibility for use, the dosing regimen, and contraindications; young people met nine and people with limited literacy met eight of the 11 performance criteria. Only 79% (95% CI 0.76-0.82) of the overall sample understood to contact a health care professional if little or no bleeding occurred soon after taking misoprostol, not meeting the prespecified threshold of 85.0%. Conclusion: Overall, high levels of comprehension suggest that people can understand most key drug facts label concepts for a medication abortion product without clinical supervision and recommend minor modifications.

Abstract:Addressing the issue of unintended pregnancy is a national priority. One proposed strategy to reduce unintended pregnancy is to improve access to oral contraceptives by changing them to over-the-counter (OTC) status. Existing data indicate that oral contraceptives meet safety criteria required of OTC products. Available literature demonstrates that women can self-screen for contraindications to oral contraceptives and can do this as well as clinicians, and experience with OTC emergency contraception suggests that OTC oral contraceptives would not increase sexual risk-taking behavior. Women support OTC access to oral contraceptives, but express an interest in accessing pharmacist counseling. On the basis of these data, the Women's Health Practice and Research Network of the American College of Clinical Pharmacy supports changing oral contraceptives to OTC status under two conditions: that they are sold where a pharmacist is on duty and that there are mechanisms in place to cover OTC contraceptives through Medicaid. Future research should address the issues of out-of-pocket costs to individuals, label-comprehension studies, and models for pharmacist reimbursement for time spent counseling on contraception.
Over-the-counter access to hormonal contraception: a global perspective

Abstract:Purpose of review Oral contraceptive pills are among the most popular contraceptives worldwide, including among adolescents, and are available over the counter in over 100 countries. However, when a prescription is required, oral contraceptives may be difficult to obtain, particularly for adolescents. Recent approvals of over-the-counter progestin-only pills in the United Kingdom and United States have brought widespread attention to this topic. Recent findings Progestin-only pills, including the norgestrel pill recently approved for over-the-counter use in the United States, are highly effective and may be used safely without a prescription or medical monitoring, including by adolescents. These pills are associated with relatively high user satisfaction. Although over-the-counter availability may improve contraceptive access overall, issues related to insurance coverage and out-of-pocket cost may continue to pose practical barriers to access for many individuals. Summary Over-the-counter oral contraceptives are an appropriate and important contraceptive option for many adolescents. Over-the-counter availability has the potential to increase access to safe and effective contraception in the United States, United Kingdom, and other countries where a prescription is currently required. Future research on use patterns among adolescents is needed, as are advocacy efforts and policies to ensure access and affordability.

Evaluating Patient-Reported Adherence And Safety for Oral Contraception Treatment in Women via a Direct-To-Consumer Prescription Platform: A Cross-Sectional Study

Abstract:Background: The acceptance of telemedicine in the German health care system is growing. This also extends to gynecological applications such as the prescription of contraceptives. This study investigates the contraceptive use and adherence of patients using a direct-to-consumer (DTC) prescription platform for oral contraception. Methods: A retrospective cross-sectional study was conducted using anonymized data obtained from a DTC prescription platform between May 2021 and March 2023. The patient-reported outcome was evaluated after 3 months through a follow-up questionnaire. Results: In total, 8,065 patient records were available and 1,008 patients responded to the follow-up questionnaire. Patients were mostly taking combined oral contraceptives (COCs) and only 6% were taking a progestin-only pill (POP). Even in patient populations at higher risk, such as smokers and obese women, the proportion of POP users was less than 20%. Over 90% of users reported that they took the pill without any intake errors, with the main intake error being forgotten intake. Overall, 23% of patients reported adverse events while taking the pill, with POP users reporting more adverse events than COC users (36.7% vs. 22.2%). Over 70% of patients regularly attended cervical screening. Conclusions: Users of a DTC prescribing platform exhibit strong adherence, with over 90% successfully taking oral contraceptive pills. The platform effectively identifies absolute contraindications but could enhance recommendations for contraceptives in the presence of relative contraindications. For healthy women familiar with pill usage, DTC platforms offer a viable and convenient alternative to traditional doctor's office prescriptions.

Abstract:Background In July 2023, the US Food and Drug Administration approved the first non-prescription oral contraceptive, a progestin-only pill, in the United States. Transgender, nonbinary, and gender-expansive people assigned female or intersex at birth face substantial contraceptive access barriers and may benefit from over-the-counter oral contraceptive access. However, no prior research has explored their perspectives on this topic. Objective To measure interest in over-the-counter progestin-only pill use among transgender, nonbinary, and gender-expansive individuals assigned female or intersex at birth. Study Design We conducted an online, cross-sectional survey from May-September 2019 (before Food and Drug approval of a progestin-only pill) with a convenience sample of transgender, nonbinary, and gender-expansive people assigned female or intersex at birth, aged 18-49 years, from across the United States. Using descriptive statistics and logistic regression analyses, we estimated interest in over-the-counter progestin-only pill use (our outcome) overall and by sociodemographic and reproductive health characteristics (our exposures). We ran separate logistic regression models for each exposure. In each model, we included the minimally sufficient adjustment set to control for confounding pathways between the exposure and outcome. For the model for age, we ran a univariable logistic regression model; for all other exposures, we ran multivariable logistic regression models. Results Among 1,415 participants in our sample (median age: 26 years), 45.0% (636/1,415; 95% CI: 42.3-47.6%) were interested in over-the-counter progestin-only pill use. In separate logistic regression models for each exposure, there were higher odds of interest among participants who were aged 18-24 years (OR 1.67, 95% CI: 1.33-2.10; versus aged 25-34 years), uninsured (aOR 1.91, 95% CI: 1.24-2.93; versus insured), currently using oral contraceptives (aOR 1.69, 95% CI: 1.17-2.44; versus non-users), had ≤high school degree (aOR 3.02, 95% CI: 1.94-4.71; versus college degree), had ever used progestin-only pills (aOR 2.32, 95% CI: 1.70-3.17; versus never-users), and who wanted to avoid estrogen generally (aOR 1.32, 95% CI: 1.04-1.67 versus those who did not want to avoid estrogen generally) or specifically because they viewed it as a "feminizing" hormone (aOR 1.72, 95% CI: 1.36-2.19; versus those who did not want to avoid estrogen because they viewed it as a "feminizing" hormone). There were lower odds of interest among participants with a graduate or professional degree (aOR 0.70, 95% CI: 0.51-0.96; versus college degree), who were sterilized (aOR 0.31, 95% CI: 0.12-0.79; versus not sterilized), and who had ever used testosterone for gender affirmation (aOR 0.72, 95% CI: 0.57-0.90; versus never-users). Conclusions Transgender, nonbinary, and gender-expansive individuals are interested in over-the-counter progestin-only pill access, and its availability has the potential to improve contraceptive access for this population.

Evaluation of Adherence to a Daily Progestin-only Pill in a Simulated Over-the-Counter Setting

Abstract:OBJECTIVE: The Adherence with Continuous Dose Oral Contraceptive: Evaluation of Self-Selection and Use (ACCESS) study assessed whether consumers can adhere to the regimen for a progestin-only pill (norgestrel 0.075 mg) in an over-the-counter (OTC) setting.STUDY DESIGN: An actual use study in a simulated OTC environment assessed adherence to directions to take norgestrel 0.075 mg every day at the same time in 883 participants for up to 24 weeks.RESULTS: Eighty-five percent (747/883) of participants reported ≥85% adherence to taking norgestrel 0.075 mg every day and reported taking their dose within three hours of their scheduled dosing time on 96% of days. When accounting for use of a condom for 48 hours if a pill was missed, participants reported correctly following the label's directed use for 97% of doses overall, with 95% of participants following label directions for ≥85% of doses. The main limitations were related to finding a balance between intensely collecting data to ensure accurate assessment of adherence and leaving users to behave as they would in a real OTC situation without healthcare practitioner intervention. We observed that some participants reported taking more doses than they could have based on the supply of medication given to them. To fully examine the situation, and the impact on the conclusions, additional post hoc sensitivity analyses were performed, and showed remarkably consistent results.CONCLUSIONS: Consumers were highly adherent to taking norgestrel 0.075 mg when using only the information provided by the proposed OTC label.IMPLICATIONS: Adherence to a daily oral contraceptive pill was high when obtained OTC. This suggests that effectiveness of an OTC pill is likely to be like that of a prescribed pill and easier access to this effective contraceptive should allow more opportunity to prevent pregnancy.

Dual Protection Messaging for Adolescents and Young Adults in the Setting of Over-the-Counter Hormonal Contraception: A Human-Centered Design Approach

Abstract:Study objective: To use human-centered design approaches to engage adolescents and young adults in the creation of messages focused on dual method use in the setting of over-the-counter hormonal contraception access DESIGN: Baseline survey and self-directed workbooks with human-centered design activities were completed. The workbooks were transcribed and analyzed using qualitative methods to determine elements of the communication model, including sender, receiver, message, media, and environment. Setting: Indiana and Georgia PARTICIPANTS: People aged 14-21 years in Indiana and Georgia INTERVENTIONS: Self-directed workbooks MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Elements of the communication model, including sender, receiver, message, media, and environment RESULTS: We analyzed 54 workbooks, with approximately half from each state. Stakeholders self-identified as female (60.5%), white (50.9%), Hispanic (10.0%), sexually active (69.8%), and heterosexual (79.2%), with a mean age of 18 years. Most strongly agreed (75.5%) that they knew how to get condoms, but only 30.2% expressed the same sentiment about hormonal contraception. Exploration of the elements of the communication model indicated the importance of crafting tailored messages to intended receivers. Alternative terminology for dual protection, such as "Condom+____," was created. Conclusion: There is a need for multiple and diverse messaging strategies about dual method use in the context of over-the-counter hormonal contraception to address the various pertinent audiences as this discussion transitions outside of traditional clinical encounters. Human-centered design approaches can be used for novel message development.

Abstract:The prevention of unintended pregnancy is a public health issue affecting women worldwide. In Australia, women are required to get a prescription to obtain the oral contraceptive pill (OCP), which may limit access and be a barrier to its initiation and continuing use. Changing the availability of the OCP from prescription-only to over-the-counter (OTC) is one solution, however, to ensure success policymakers need to understand women's preferences. Telehealth services also might serve as an alternative to obtain prescriptions and increase accessibility to OCPs. This study aims to explore the preferences for OTC OCPs among Australian women, and whether the expansion of telehealth impacted women's preferences. A mixed methods approach was used to explore women's preferences regarding access to the OCP. Focus group discussions (FGDs) were conducted to organically identify the preferences followed by an empirical ranking exercise. Three FGDs in two phases were conducted, pre and post-expansion of telehealth in Australia due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Convenience sampling was employed. The technique of constant comparison was used for thematic analysis where transcripts were analysed iteratively, and codes were allowed to emerge during the process to give the best chance for the attributes to develop from the data. Thematic analysis revealed that women perceived OTC availability of OCPs as a mechanism to increase the accessibility of contraception by reducing cost, travel time, waiting time, and increasing opening hours. They also believed that it would increase adherence to OCPs. However, some potential safety concerns and logistical issues were raised, including pharmacist training, access to patient's medical history, the ability to discuss other health issues or undertake opportunistic health screening, adherence to checklists, and privacy in the pharmacy environment. Following the expansion of telehealth, accessibility issues such as opening hours, travel time, and location of the facility were considered less important. The participants expressed their support for reclassifying OCPs to OTC, particularly for repeat prescriptions, as it would save valuable resources and time. However, some safety and logistical issues were raised. Women indicated they would balance these concerns with the benefits when deciding to use OTC OCPs. This could be explored using a discrete choice experiment. The expansion of telehealth was perceived to reduce barriers to accessing OCPs. The findings are likely to be informative for policymakers deciding whether to reclassify OCPs to OTC, and the concerns of women that need addressing to ensure the success of any policy change.

Abstract:The oral contraceptive pill is the most widely used method of contraception and when adhered to perfectly is 99% effective at preventing pregnancy. However, adherence to the pill is relatively low. Knowledge has shown to be important in continuation of the pill, and previous research shows the importance of health literacy in adhering to medication in chronic illnesses, but its role has yet to be explored in this behavior.This cross-sectional study examined the associations between health literacy, knowledge of the pill and adherence, as well as the predictive ability of these two variables and their interaction, in predicting adherence. Recruited through CloudResearch, 193 women (M age = 32.63 years, SD = 5.98) residing in the United States completed the Health Literacy Skills Instrument – Short Form, a previously validated measure of oral contraceptive pill knowledge and the Medication Adherence Report Scale.Results showed a strong positive correlation between health literacy and adherence (r = .76) and moderate associations between health literacy and knowledge (r = .42), and knowledge and adherence (r = .42). The final model of the hierarchical multiple regression accounted for 59.8% of variance in adherence, with health literacy (β = .69) and length of time taking the pill (β = .13) the only significant predictors of adherence.Family planning clinics should consider assessing the patient's health literacy skills before prescribing the pill to ensure patients fully understand the requirements.
Automated spot heights generalisation in trail maps

Abstract:This article introduces a method and tool which allow for the automatic generalisation of topographic map spot heights. This is based on two premises: (1) the points remaining on the map should be the most relevant, and (2) their distribution over the map is the most suitable. The relevance of each point is determined by its position in (or near) areas of interest (trail, itinerary, etc.) or landforms that are significant due to their shape (peak, saddle or depression points) or size. This is determined by a morphometric analysis of the surrounding area of each spot height, using a TIN Digital Elevation Model (DEM). A division of the map into rectangular units using a binary space partition method in order to eliminate points, proportional to their original distribution on the input map, is proposed. A detailed description of the proposed method and associated algorithms is given and their performance is evaluated for a specific case. Although the proposed methodology has been developed for use with trail maps, the method's global philosophy, as well as the computer application, offer an expert user sufficient freedom of choice to be able to apply it to many other types of maps.
Assessing Student and Patient Perspectives on Pharmacist Prescribed Hormonal Contraceptives

Abstract:Background: Increasing convenient, accessible, and cost effective contraceptive access is critically important. Two-thirds of US states permit pharmacists to prescribe hormonal contraceptives. Community pharmacies are ideal settings for patients to be offered contraceptive therapeutic options including hormonal contraceptives, emergency contraception (EC), and over-the-counter (OTC) oral contraception. Objective: The objective of this study was to assess college student and community pharmacy patients' perspectives on pharmacist prescribed hormonal contraceptives, likelihood of accessing contraceptives from a pharmacist, and perspectives regarding EC and OTC oral contraception. Methods: The researchers conducted an observational study distributed to college students and patients accessing care at community-based pharmacies from October 2022 to February 2023. The survey population included those who were 18 years or older, English speaking, and recruited both in person and online. Survey questions assessed barriers to contraception access, perspectives towards pharmacist prescribed hormonal contraception, likelihood of receiving pharmacist prescribed hormonal contraception as well as EC and OTC oral contraception at the community pharmacy. Results from the pharmacist and clinician surveys were previously published, therefore this report will focus on the student and patient data. Results: Ninety-one percent of all respondents strongly agreed or agreed with pharmacist-prescribed hormonal contraception. Students and patients reported convenience, time saving, and money saving as reasons for obtaining from their pharmacist. In regard to EC, 36% reported having ever purchased from a pharmacy and 58% were extremely or somewhat likely to purchase OTC oral contraception. Conclusions: The majority of students and community pharmacy patients surveyed in Rhode Island support pharmacist prescribed hormonal contraceptives. State-level policy advancements with reimbursement for services provide pharmacists an opportunity to provide contraceptive care for all people.

Abstract:Background In addition to its widely-appreciated contraceptive applications, the oral contraceptive pill (OCP) conveys both oncological and non-oncological benefits. Oncological benefits include a decreased risk of endometrial, ovarian, and colorectal cancer. Non-oncological benefits include reducing androgenic effects and alleviating menstruation-related problems. This study aimed to ascertain knowledge levels of non-contraceptive benefits and risks of OCP use among participants without contraindications to OCPs. This study also assessed factors associated with participants being more likely to consider taking OCPs.

Questions in self‐selection studies used in consumer research for nonprescription drug candidates: Limitations and recommendations

Abstract:Self‐selection studies assess participants' ability to use label information to decide if a proposed nonprescription drug is appropriate for their use. The optimal use of information from participants' responses in these trials has not been studied. Data from a self‐selection study for a progestogen‐only contraceptive pill (norgestrel 0.075 mg tablets, Opill) were analyzed. Participants (1772 evaluable participants) were provided with the proposed drug facts label and asked sequentially: (1) Given what you have read on the label and your own health history, is this product okay or not okay for you to take home today and start to use?; (2) Why or why not?; (3) Would you like to purchase Opill today to take home for your own use?; (4) Why or why not? The Per Guidance Analysis based on the US Food and Drug Administration's Guidance considered only the response to the first question as defining a selector. The Complete Analysis considered the responses to all four questions to determine a selector. The Per Guidance Analysis characterized 1597 participants as selectors, whereas the Complete Analysis identified 1180 participants as selectors. The decrease in selectors reflected participants who responded "okay" to the initial question but "no" to purchase question while providing rational explanations for their shift in responses. The results support the use of all available information when assessing a participant's intent in self‐selection studies for nonprescription drug candidates. The findings are discussed in the context of findings from the social cognitive and communication sciences.

Quantitation of lysozyme activity in experimental intestinal strangulation obstruction.

Abstract:I N 1922, Fleming (1) reported the presence of a bacteriolytic agent in various body fluids and gave it the name lysozyme. Since then, much work has been done on the chemical and physical properties of this substance. It has been crystallized from native egg white and found to be a mucolytic enzyme with an optimum activity at pH 5.3 and an isoelectric point at pH 11. It, therefore, is a protein of highly basic nature, and as such has been implicated as an etiological agent in ulcerative disease of the gastrointestinal tract. More recent investigation (2) has tended to show that the high fecal lysozyme concentration in ulcerative disease of the gastrointestinal tract is corollary to the disease process. Recently, Light (3) reported experiments from which he concluded that lysozyme was one of the toxins present in closed loop intestinal obstruction. He noted that the chemical extraction of whole loop contents yielded a fraction having lysozyme activity. The intravenous injection of this fraction as well as the intravenous injection of crystalline lysozyme at times reproduced the clinical and pathological picture seen after the injection of whole loop contents. He, therefore, concluded that lysozyme was one of the toxic elements present in closed loop obstruction. The toxicity of lysozyme and its manner of absorption must be demonstrated more conclusively before it can be held responsible for the toxicity in intestinal strangulation. The purpose of the present work is to investigate the toxicity of lysozyme and to determine the possible :outes of absorption of this enzyme durlI1g intestinal strangulation obstruction.

Interleukin-1 beta-induced neutrophil recruitment and acute lung injury in hamsters.

Abstract:Administering recombinant interleukin-1 beta (IL-1 beta) intratracheally caused lung neutrophil accumulation and lung injury in hamsters. The percentage of leukocytes that were neutrophils increased progressively in lavages from lungs of hamsters given 25, 50, or 100 ng IL-1 beta intratracheally 2 h before. Lung injury, reflected by increased lung lavage protein concentrations and lung lavage hemoglobin concentrations, increased 2 h after administering 100 ng IL-1 beta. Lung injury, reflected by lung wet weight/body weight ratios, followed similar patterns, with significant increases occurring 2 h after insufflating 50 or 100 ng IL-1. Our results indicate that increased concentrations of IL-1 beta in lung airways can cause neutrophil recruitment and lung injury in hamsters. This mechanism may contribute to the development of lung neutrophil accumulation and lung injury that characterizes ARDS patients who have increased airway levels of IL-1 beta.
Consumer perceptions of the OTC Coach: A clinical decision support system aimed at improving the safe use of over-the-counter medications

Abstract:Background: There are more than 300,000 over-the-counter (OTC) medications on the market making it challenging for consumers to select safe and effective products to treat their minor ailments. Objective: We sought to identify consumer perceptions about the use of a clinical decision support system, OTC Coach, to help them make informed decisions about OTC medications. Methods: We developed a prototype of the OTC Coach that focused on treating fever in adults. We recruited community members who were 18 years and older via our institutional research website. Participants completed a 30- to 45-minute video interview in which they initially discussed their perceptions and experiences of using OTC medications. We subsequently shared the OTC Coach prototype and sought feedback related to the content and format of the tool. We asked participants to rate their likelihood of using the tool to treat a new symptom (10-point Likert scale, 1 = not at all to 10 = extremely likely) and conducted a qualitative and quantitative analysis of these findings. Results: Among 20 participants, 11 (55%) were female, 10 (50%) were white, and the mean age was 47.9 years (range 18-81 years). Participants reported that the tool was easy to understand. The questions reported as being extremely important by most participants were allergies (n = 17, 85%), increased risk of bleeding (n = 15, 75%), temperature (n = 12, 60%), and duration of symptoms (n = 12, 60%). Three-fourths of participants (n = 15) selected a score of 7 or higher when asked about their likelihood of using this tool for a new symptom. Concerns that were raised included ensuring that the tool accounted for their personal health history, data storage, and accessibility. Conclusion: Consumers were interested in using an electronic tool to determine if their symptoms can be self-treated and, if so, which medications are appropriate.
Contraceptive Pharmacology and Risk Communication: A Case-Based Flipped Classroom Exercise

Abstract:Introduction: Oral contraceptives are widely used for both contraceptive and noncontraceptive purposes. Of women ages 15-44 who have ever had sexual intercourse, 88% have used at least one hormonal contraceptive method. Health care providers caring for reproductive-age women need a strong base of knowledge in hormonal contraception. Those who provide contraceptive counseling must apply this knowledge to shared decision making, including effective quantitative communication. Methods: Students and faculty at Florida International University Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine created a prerecorded lecture and in-class interactive case on contraceptive pharmacology and risk communication. The 20-minute lecture focused on mechanisms of action, bioavailability, drug-drug interaction, effectiveness, and major vascular risks of combined hormonal and progestin-only contraceptives. The 55-minute in-class session integrated knowledge of risks and effectiveness of contraception with risk communication surrounding contraceptive decision making and counseling. For the 2018 academic year, 122 first-year medical students participated in the session. Students anonymously answered three questions related to the session on their end-of-course evaluation. Student learning was assessed with five multiple-choice questions on the pharmacology final exam. Results: Students rated the session very positively. They highly rated the lecture's utility and the sesssion's contribution to solidifying their basic science knowledge and understanding of its clinical applications. Class average performance on the relevant final exam questions was 88.4%. Discussion: The lecture and case discussion successfully addressed gaps in the curriculum and provided students the opportunity to integrate multiple domains of learning. Students' perception of the materials was positive, and they demonstrated adequate learning.
The emergency contraceptive pill: a survey of knowledge and attitudes among students at Princeton University

Abstract:Objective: Our purpose was to measure and analyze knowledge and attitudes about emergency contraceptive pills. The hypothesis we tested was that more accurate knowledge about the regimen would be associated with favorable attitudes towards its use. Study design: We conducted a random sample telephone survey and a series of focus group discussions at Princeton University (results for 11 focus groups are presented elsewhere) A total of 550 undergraduate and graduate students were selected randomly for participation in the survey, and the response rate was 82%. The study's primary outcome measure was attitudes toward the emergency contraceptive pill as a method of fertility control. We used multivariate regression analysis with ordered logit models to test the hypothesized association between knowledge and attitudes. Results: Basic awareness and approval of the emergency contraceptive pill were widespread, yet students lacked detailed knowledge, which did contribute to health and ethical misgivings about the regimen. Students with accurate information, especially those students who knew that the therapy is a large dose of regular oral contraceptives and that side effects are generally minor, were significantly more likely than others to report favorable attitudes. Many students confused the pills dispensed by the university health services (Oral, Wyeth-Ayerst, Philadelphia) with the abortifacient RU 486. Students noted discussion of the method is rare, and many wanted to know more about it. Statistical results are reported with a 95% confidence level. Conclusions: Educational efforts should offer specific information about the composition of emergency contraceptive pills, the side effects, and how the regimen works.
