Abstract:The Nrf2-Keap1 pathway is believed to be a critical regulator of the phase II defense system against oxidative stress. By activation of Nrf2, cytoprotective genes such as heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1), NAD(P)H:quinone oxidoreductase (NQO-1) and γ-glutamyl-cysteine ligase (GCL) are induced. GCL-induced glutathione (GSH) production is believed to affect redox signaling, cell proliferation and death. We here report that tert-butyl hydroperoxide (t-BHP)-induced GSH reduction led to mitochondrial membrane potential loss and apoptosis in cultured human retinal pigment epithelial cells from the ARPE-19 cell line. Hydroxytyrosol (HT), a natural phytochemical from olive leaves and oil, was found to induce phase II enzymes and GSH, thus protect t-BHP-induced mitochondrial dysfunction and apoptosis. Depletion of GSH by buthionine-[S,R]-sulfoximine enhanced t-BHP toxicity and abolished HT protection. Overexpression of Nrf2 increased GSH content and efficiently protected t-BHP-induced mitochondrial membrane potential loss. Meanwhile, HT-induced GSH enhancement and induction of Nrf2 target gene (GCLc, GCLm, HO-1, NQO-1) messenger RNA (mRNA) were inhibited by Nrf2 knockdown, suggesting that HT increases GSH through Nrf2 activation. In addition, we found that HT was able to activate the PI3/Akt and mTOR/p70S6-kinase pathways, both of which contribute to survival signaling in stressed cells. However, the effect of HT was not inhibited by the PI3K inhibitor LY294002. Rather, c-Jun N-terminal kinase (JNK) activation was found to induce p62/SQSTM1 expression, which is involved in Nrf2 activation. Our study demonstrates that Nrf2 activation induced by the JNK pathway plays an essential role in the mechanism behind HT's strengthening of the antiapoptotic actions of the endogenous antioxidant system.

Abstract:Hydroxytyrosol (HT), the major phenolic compound in olive oil, is attracting increasing interest for its beneficial properties including a notable antioxidant and anti-inflammatory power. In this study, using a combination of biophysical and cell biology techniques, we have tested the role of HT in the formation of advanced glycation end-products (AGEs). AGEs have a key role in clinical sciences as they have been associated to diabetes, neurodegenerative and cardiovascular diseases. In addition, as the incidence of Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is strongly increased in diabetic patients, AGE formation is supposed to be involved in the development of the pathological hallmarks of AD. Our data show that HT selectively inhibits protein glycation reaction in human insulin, and it is able to counteract the AGE-induced cytotoxicity in human neurotypical cells by acting on SIRT1 level and oxidative stress, as well as on inflammatory response. This study identifies new beneficial properties for HT and suggests it might be a promising molecule in protecting against the AGE-induced toxicity, a key mechanism underlying the development and progression of neurodegenerative disorders.

Abstract:The present study aimed to investigate the anti-cancer effects of hydroxytyrosol (HT) in human hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) cells. Our results show that HT could inhibit proliferation, induce G2/M cell cycle arrest and apoptosis in human HCC cells. Mechanically, we found that HT could suppress the activation of AKT and nuclear factor-kappa B (NF-κB) pathways. HT also significantly inhibited the tumor growth, angiogenesis and the activation of AKT and NF-κB pathways in an orthotopic model of human HCC in vivo. These data suggest that HT may be a promising candidate agent for the treatment of HCC.

Abstract:Twenty-four patients with ulnohumeral dislocation associated with radial head fracture were studied two to 35 years after injury. On the basis of an objective functional grading score that included elements of pain, motion, strength, and stability, results were excellent in three (12%), good in 15 (62%), and fair in six (25%). The best results were obtained in patients with Mason Type 2 injuries treated by closed reduction without fracture excision and with early complete radial head excision for a Type 3 fracture. Late instability was not observed in any of the 24 patients. Prolonged immobilization (greater than four weeks) was associated with poor results. Ectopic ossification occurred in only one patient who had surgical treatment at eight days after injury; the grading score was only fair. These observations demonstrate that the injury should be treated with early reduction of the ulnohumeral joint and treatment of the radial head fracture according to its type. Immobilization for more than four weeks should be avoided. The prognosis is better than what has been thought previously.

Abstract:Hydroxytyrosol acetate is one of the polyphenolic compounds in olive leaves. Hydroxytyrosol acetate has a variety of biological activities, such as antibacterial, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, cognitive improvement and neuroprotective effects. However, there is no report on the antitumor activity and the antitumor mechanism of hydroxytyrosol acetate. In our study, we studied the antitumor activity of hydroxytyrosol acetate by MTT assay and determined the antitumor mechanism by DNA ladder assay, mitochondrial membrane potential assay and western blot assay. We found that hydroxytyrosol acetate could inhibit cell proliferation, and the inhibition rate was 78.08%. The further researches showed that hydroxytyrosol acetate could downregulate Bcl-2 protein while upregulate Bax protein. It also could induce mitochondrial depolarisation and release of cytochrome C. These results indicated that hydroxytyrosol acetate might induce BEL7402 cells apoptosis via mitochondrial pathway.

Abstract:Hydroxytyrosol (3,4-dihydroxyphenil-ethanol, HT), the major phenol derived from olive oil consumption, has shown different anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant activities in vitro which may explain the chronic-degenerative diseases preventive properties of olive oil. The aim of this study was to examine the ability of HT reduce inflammatory markers, Cyclooxygenase-2 (COX2) and Tumour Necrosis Factor alfa (TNF-α and oxidative stress in vivo on a mouse model of systemic inflammation. Balb/c mice were pre-treated with HT (40 and 80 mg/Kg b.w.) and then stimulated by intraperitoneal injection of lipopolysaccharide (LPS). Blood was collected to measure COX2 gene expression by qPCR and TNF-α level by ELISA kit in plasma. In addition, the total anti-oxidant power of plasma and the DNA damage were measured by FRAP test and COMET assay, respectively. LPS increased the COX2 expression, the TNF-α production and the DNA damage. HT administration prevented all LPS-induced effects and improved the anti-oxidant power of plasma. HT demonstrated in vivo anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant abilities. The results may explain the health effects of olive oil in Mediterranean diet. HT represents an interesting molecule for the development of new nutraceuticals and functional food useful in chronic diseases prevention.

Abstract:Hydroxytyrosol (HT) is a polyphenol extracted from olive plant and its byproduct. This review highlights methods and pathways for the synthesis of hydroxytyrosol, providing insights based on its bioactivity characteristics, health benefits, and potential future applications. Hydroxytyrosol (HT) is a polyphenol found in the olive plant (Olea europaea) that has garnered attention from the food, feed, supplement, and pharmaceutical industries. HT has evolved from basic separation and extraction to chemical and biocatalytic synthesis. The yield of HT can reach 1.93 g/L/h through chemical synthesis and 7.7 g/L/h through biocatalysis; however, both methods are subject to inherent limitations. Furthermore, the potential health benefits associated with HT have been highlighted, including its ability to act as an antioxidant, reduce inflammation, combat cancer and obesity, and exert antibacterial and antiviral effects. Its neuroprotective effects, skin protection, and wound healing capabilities are also discussed. Given these remarkable biological properties, HT stands out as one of the most extensively investigated natural phenols. This review highlights future methods and pathways for the synthesis of HT, providing insights based on its bioactivity characteristics, health benefits, and potential future applications.

Abstract:Hepatotoma is the leading type of primary liver cancer in adults and third cause of death in the world. Hydroxytyrosol is a natural phenol existing in olive (Olea europaea L.). Hydroxytyrosol is the chief ingredient of olive oil, which was early deemed to be the most robust antioxidant in olive oil. Hydroxytyrosol is known to inhibit various types of cancer by different methods. This study was aimed to delineate the action of hydroxytyrosol on viability and [Ca2+]i in HepG2 hepatoma cells. Fura-2 was used to detect [Ca2+]i, and WST-1 assays were applied to explore cell cytotoxicity. Hydroxytyrosol elicited [Ca2+]i raises. Eliminating external Ca2+ diminished the Ca2+ signal by 30%. Hydroxytyrosol-evoked Ca2+ influx was diminished by 20% by three inhibitors of store-operated Ca2+ channels and by a protein kinase C activator and an inhibitor. In the absence of Ca2+, thapsigargin eradicated hydroxytyrosol-provoked [Ca2+]i raises. Suppression of phospholipase C (PLC) with U73122, a PLC inhibitor, did not inhibit hydroxytyrosol-elicited [Ca2+]i raises. Hydroxytyrosol reduced cell viability. This cytotoxic action was not reversed by preincubation with BAPTA/AM, a cytosolic Ca2+ binder. In sum, in HepG2 hepatoma cells, hydroxytyrosol elicited [Ca2+]i raises by provoking PLC-unrelated discharge of Ca2+ from ER and Ca2+ influx through PKC-sensitive store-operated Ca2+ entry. In addition, hydroxytyrosol elicited Ca2+-dissociated cytotoxicity.

Abstract:Aims/Purpose: The influence of antioxidants on ocular processes has gained increasing importance in recent years due to their impact on eye health. One of the most promising antioxidants is hydroxytyrosol (HT), a natural compound found in olive leaves and olive oil. The purpose of this study is to develop an ocular insert containing HT for administration to the eye. The study aims to verify the absence of ocular toxicity of HT and formulate inserts incorporating this antioxidant. Methods: To evaluate potential ocular irritation, the hen's egg‐chorioallantoic membrane test (HET‐CAM test) was carried out. HT solutions at concentrations of 0.1, 1 and 10 mg/mL were prepared in phosphate buffer solution (PBS) with a pH of 7.4. Solutions of 0.1 N NaOH and 0.9% NaCl were used as positive and negative controls, respectively (1). Different inserts were formulated using polyvinylalcohol (PVA), hyaluronic acid (HA) and polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) as polymers with film‐forming capabilities and propylene glycol (PGL) as a humectant agent. The components were added gradually and stirred until a homogeneous solution was obtained. Finally, the solution was poured into a Petri dish and allowed to dry. Results: The HET‐CAM test demonstrated that HT solutions exhibited behaviour similar to the negative control (0.9% NaCl) and did not show any signs of irritation in terms of haemorrhage, lysis, or coagulation. Four formulations were developed with the following compositions: F1: PVA 3%, PVP 1%, HA 0.2%, PGL 2% and HT 0.1%; F2: PVA 2%, PVP 2%, HA 0.2%, PGL 2% and HT 0.1%; F3: PVA 4%, PVP 1%, PGL 2% and HT 0.1%; and F4: PVA 2%, PVP 2%, PGL 2% and HT 0.1%. Conclusions: Hydroxytyrosol can be considered non‐irritating to the eye, and PVA‐PVP‐HA ocular inserts have been developed. Abstract:Despite continuous improvements in diagnostic cardiology techniques, echocardiography remains the cornerstone for noninvasive cardiovascular assessment of the pregnant woman with heart disease or suspected cardiac abnormality. Reversible physiological cardiac remodeling of pregnancy associated with changes in valve patency or transvalvular flow pattern can be suitably assessed by the complementary use of quantitative pulsed‐ and continuous Doppler and qualitative color Doppler technology. These techniques are also useful for a better understanding of the pathophysiology of the hemodynamic consequences of fixed valve stenosis during pregnancy with respect to the labile nature of gradients resulting from variable loading conditions as occurs during pregnancy. Recent and specific areas of clinical use including cardiac output estimation, contrast echocardiography minimizing radioscopy during cardiac catheterization, and transesophageal echocardiography for selection of patients with mitral stenosis suitable for percutaneous catheter valvotomy illustrate the large spectrum of capabilities of this versatile method during pregnancy.
The Bioactivity of a Hydroxytyrosol-Enriched Extract Originated after Direct Hydrolysis of Olive Leaves from Greek Cultivars

Abstract:Nowadays, olive leaf polyphenols have been at the center of scientific interest due to their beneficial effects on human health. The most abundant polyphenol in olive leaves is oleuropein. The biological properties of oleuropein are mainly due to the hydroxytyrosol moiety, a drastic catechol group, whose biological activity has been mentioned many times in the literature. Hence, in recent years, many nutritional supplements, food products, and cosmetics enriched in hydroxytyrosol have been developed and marketed, with unexpectedly positive results. However, the concentration levels of hydroxytyrosol in olive leaves are low, as it depends on several agricultural factors. In this study, a rapid and easy methodology for the production of hydroxytyrosol-enriched extracts from olive leaves was described. The proposed method is based on the direct acidic hydrolysis of olive leaves, where the extraction procedure and the hydrolysis of oleuropein are carried out in one step. Furthermore, we tested the in vitro bioactivity of this extract using cell-free and cell-based methods, evaluating its antioxidant and DNA-protective properties. Our results showed that the hydroxytyrosol-enriched extract produced after direct hydrolysis of olive leaves exerted significant in vitro antioxidant and geno-protective activity, and potentially these extracts could have various applications in the pharmaceutical, food, and cosmetic industries.

Abstract:SCOPE: Hydroxytyrosol (HT), a polyphenol from olives, is a potential anticancer agent. This study was designed to evaluate the anticancer activity of HT against prostate cancer cells, and the mechanism thereof.METHODS AND RESULTS: Treatment of LNCaP and C4-2 prostate cancer cells with HT resulted in a dose-dependent inhibition of proliferation. This was in contrast to HT's ineffectiveness against normal prostate epithelial cells RWPE1 and PWLE2, suggesting cancer-cell-specific effect. HT induced G1/S cell cycle arrest, with inhibition of cyclins D1/E and cdk2/4 and induction of inhibitory p21/p27. HT also induced apoptosis, as confirmed by flow cytometry, caspase activation, PARP cleavage, and BAX/Bcl-2 ratio. It inhibited the phosphorylation of Akt/STAT3, and induced cytoplasmic retention of NF-κB, which may explain its observed effects. Finally, HT inhibited androgen receptor (AR) expression and the secretion of AR-responsive prostate-specific antigen.CONCLUSION: Castration-resistant prostate cancers retain AR signaling and are often marked by activated Akt, NF-κB, and STAT3 signaling. Our results establish a pleiotropic activity of HT against these oncogenic signaling pathways. Combined with its nontoxic effects against normal cells, our results support further testing of HT for prostate cancer therapy.

Abstract:SCOPE We studied the effects and mechanism of 2-(3,4-dihydroxyphenil)ethanol (or hydroxytyrosol, HT), a polyphenol from extra virgin olive oil, investigating the regulation of epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) expression in colon tumour cells. METHODS AND RESULTS We demonstrate that HT significantly downregulates EGFR expression in human colorectal adenocarcinoma cells HT-29, CaCo2, and WiDr, and in HT-29 xenografts. HT accelerates EGFR degradation by reducing its half-life. Specifically, HT induces EGFR ubiquitination that is mediated by phosphorylation at pY1045, the docking site for Cbl, thereby enabling receptor ubiquitination and degradation. Pretreatment with either the lysosomal inhibitor chloroquine, or the proteasomal inhibitor MG132 blocks HT-induced EGFR downregulation. In colon cancer cells, EGFR downregulation by HT is associated with reduced cell proliferation. Tumour growth and EGFR expression levels are also decreased by HT treatment in HT-29 xenograft. CONCLUSION We conclude that HT downregulates EGFR expression via lysosomal and proteasomal degradation, activated by HT-induced EGFR phosphorylation at pY1045 and increased Cbl activity. Cbl activation induces, in turn, EGFR ubiquitination. Our results reveal a new mechanism for HT's antitumour effects that may be important for colon tumour prevention and treatment.

Abstract:The Mediterranean diet and consumption of EVOO are associated with multiple beneficial effects for human health, e.g. reduction in cardiovascular risk and mortality, improvement in the lipid profile, and the prevention of chronic diseases, such as cancers and neurodegenerative diseases. In EVOO, more than 30 different phenolic-derived compounds have been identified, representing one of the most promising bioactive classes in olive oil. This review explores the hepatoprotective properties of two of these compounds, tyrosol and oleocanthal, focusing on their mechanisms of action. Recent studies have shown that these compounds, which share a similar chemical structure with a hydroxyl group attached to an aromatic hydrocarbon ring, can potentially mitigate chronic liver diseases, such as MASLD and liver fibrosis, as well as their progression to liver cancer. Consequently, they deserve attention for future pharmacological drug development. In vitro and in vivo studies have suggested that these compounds exert these effects through the regulation of cellular pathways involved in antioxidant response, lipid metabolism, transcription factor activity, and NF-κB signaling. Understanding the mechanisms underlying the hepatoprotective properties of tyrosol and oleocanthal may provide valuable information for the development of therapeutic agents based on their chemical structures capable of targeting chronic liver diseases.

Anti-tumor Effect of Oleic Acid in Hepatocellular Carcinoma Cell Lines via Autophagy Reduction

Abstract:Oleic acid (OA) is a component of the olive oil. Beneficial health effects of olive oil are well-known, such as protection against liver steatosis and against some cancer types. In the present study, we focused on OA effects in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), investigating responses to OA treatment (50–300 μM) in HCC cell lines (Hep3B and Huh7.5) and in a healthy liver-derived human cell line (THLE-2). Upon OA administration higher lipid accumulation, perilipin-2 increase, and autophagy reduction were observed in HCC cells as compared to healthy cells. OA in the presence of 10% FBS significantly reduced viability of HCC cell lines at 300 μM through Alamar Blue staining evaluation, and reduced cyclin D1 expression in a dose-dependent manner while it was ineffective on healthy hepatocytes. Furthermore, OA increased cell death by about 30%, inducing apoptosis and necrosis in HCC cells but not in healthy hepatocytes at 300 μM dosage. Moreover, OA induced senescence in Hep3B, reduced P-ERK in both HCC cell lines and significantly inhibited the antiapoptotic proteins c-Flip and Bcl-2 in HCC cells but not in healthy hepatocytes. All these results led us to conclude that different cell death processes occur in these two HCC cell lines upon OA treatment. Furthermore, 300 μM OA significantly reduced the migration and invasion of both HCC cell lines, while it has no effects on healthy cells. Finally, we investigated autophagy role in OA-dependent effects by using the autophagy inducer torin-1. Combined OA/torin-1 treatment reduced lipid accumulation and cell death as compared to single OA treatment. We therefore concluded that OA effects in HCC cells lines are, at least, in part dependent on OA-induced autophagy reduction. In conclusion, we report for the first time an autophagy dependent relevant anti-cancer effect of OA in human hepatocellular carcinoma cell lines.

Abstract:Erythrodiol (EO) is a pentacyclic triterpenic alcohol found in olive tree leaves and olive oil, and it has important effects on the health properties and quality of olive oil. In this study, we characterized the cytotoxic effects of EO on human hepatocarcinoma (HepG2) cells by studying changes in cell viability, reactive oxygen species (ROS) production, antioxidant defense systems, and the proteome. The results reveal that EO markedly decreased HepG2 cell viability without changing ROS levels. The concentrations of glutathione and NADPH were significantly reduced, with selective changes in the activity of several antioxidant enzymes: glutathione peroxidase, glutathione reductase, glucose 6-phosphate dehydrogenase, and 6-phosphogluconate dehydrogenase. Proteomic data reveal that EO led to the complete elimination or decreased abundance of 41 and 3 proteins, respectively, and the abundance of 29 proteins increased. The results of functional enrichment analysis show that important metabolic processes and the nuclear transport of mature mRNA were impaired, whereas AMP biosynthesis and cell cycle G2/M phase transition were induced. The transcription factors and miRNAs involved in this response were also identified. These potent antiproliferative effects make EO a good candidate for the further analysis of its hepatic antitumor effects in in vivo studies.

Abstract:Hydroxytyrosol (HT) is a polyphenol of interooest to the food, feed, supplements and pharmaceutical sectors. It is one of the strongest known natural antioxidants and has been shown to confer other benefits such as anti-inflammatory and anti-carcinogenic properties, and it has the potential to act as a cardio- and neuroprotectant. It is known to be one of the compounds responsible for the health benefits of the Mediterranean diet. In nature, HT is found in the olive plant (<em>Olea europaea</em>) as part of the secoiridoid compound oleuropein, in its leaves, fruit, oil and oil production waste products. HT can be extracted from these olive sources, but it can also be produced by chemical synthesis or through the use of microorganisms. This review looks at the production of HT using plant extraction, chemical synthesis and biotechnological approaches.

Abstract:Abstract Introduction: Extra virgin olive oil is a basic component of the Mediterranean diet; it contains several molecules with antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-angiogenic and pro-apoptotic properties against a variety of cancers and influencing cellular metabolism too. Olive mill waste water (OMWW), a liquid residue produced in vast amounts during olive oil extraction, represents an environmental issue but on the other side it is a rich source of phytochemicals with potential health benefits. Particularly, OMWWs are rich in different phenolic compounds, that show promise in preventing the development of several disease disorders, including cancer. We have assessed the anti-angiogenic and anti-tumor properties exerted by a nutraceutical from purified OMWW extract, in in vitro and in vivo models, and evaluated its effect in a human pilot study upon informed consent. Experimental procedures: OMWWs ability to affect cell proliferation and survival on different cancer cell lines was assessed by MTT. OMWWs interference with human umbilical endothelial vein cells (HUVECs) tube formation, migration and invasive capacities was studied by endothelial cell morphogenesis and migration assays. The inhibition of angiogenesis and tumor cell growth was investigated by the matrigel assay and tumour xenograft. To evaluate contribution of potential metabolomic biomarkers, SANIST (surface-activated chemical ionization-electrospray-NIST technology) mass spectrometric data-based platform has been employed on sera from a pilot study (Aiello et al, in preparation). Results: OMWW extract shown a potent inhibitory effect inhibiting cells proliferation of both cancer cell lines and HUVECs.OMWW inhibited several molecular targets expression, including IL8, Angiogenin, mTOR, VEGF, CXCR4, CXCL12 and CXCL8, in tumor cells and in TNF-α-stimulated HUVEC. We nalyzed sera from volunteers, after nutraceutical intervention with Oliphenoliaand we assessed several biological parameters. Endogenous vitamin D was significantly increased, as well as albumin, direct bilirubin, and calcium. We also observed glycemia and potassium decrease after Oliphenolia assumption. A previously unknow form of Vitamin D was also detected by mass spectrometry. Conclusions: OMWW extract has shown a stronger anti-angiogenic and anti-tumor properties, with potential chemo-preventive potentials. Results of human pilot study shows Oliphenolia as a promising and interesting natural dietary supplement, rich in polyphenol compounds, that can exert anti-inflammatory and antioxidant activities. Abstract:New hydroxytyrosol derivatives, substituted at the C‐1 position of the side chain, were synthesized using a multistep reaction procedure. These cyclo‐substituted compounds demonstrated significantly higher antioxidant activity, showcasing strong radical scavenging abilities. They exhibited notable cytostatic effects against MG‐63 human osteoblast‐like cells. Sixteen novel hydroxytyrosol (HT) analogs with substitutions at the C‐1 position of the HT aliphatic side chain were synthesized and evaluated for their cytostatic activity against MG‐63 human osteoblast‐like cells and for their antioxidant properties. The results revealed that these analogs exhibited significantly higher inhibitory activity compared with HT, which served as the positive control. Among these, the cyclo‐substituted compounds stood out as particularly potent, demonstrating strong radical scavenging abilities and notable cytostatic effects against MG‐63 cells. These findings suggest that the cyclo‐substituted HT analogs hold considerable promise for the development of novel antioxidants with potential applications in bone physiology.

Abstract:This work evaluated the phytochemical composition of olive seed extracts from different cultivars ('Cobrançosa', 'Galega', and 'Picual') and their antioxidant capacity. In addition, it also appraised their potential antineurodegenerative properties on the basis of their ability to inhibit enzymes associated with neurodegenerative diseases: acetylcholinesterase (AChE), butyrylcholinesterase (BChE), and tyrosinase (TYR). To achieve this goal, the phenolic composition of the extracts was determined through high-performance liquid chromatography coupled with photodiode-array detection and electrospray ionization/ion trap mass spectrometry (HPLC-DAD-ESI/MSn). The antioxidant capacity was assessed by two different methods (ABTS•+ and DPPH•), and the antineurodegenerative potential by the capacity of these extracts to inhibit the aforementioned related enzymes. The results showed that seed extracts presented a high content of phenolic compounds and a remarkable ability to scavenge ABTS•+ and DPPH•. Tyrosol, rutin, luteolin-7-glucoside, nüzhenide, oleuropein, and ligstroside were the main phenolic compounds identified in the extracts. 'Galega' was the most promising cultivar due to its high concentration of phenolic compounds, high antioxidant capacity, and remarkable inhibition of AChE, BChE, and TYR. It can be concluded that olive seed extracts may provide a sustainable source of bioactive compounds for medical and industrial applications.
