Abstract:This paper proposes a model with which to analyze the user acceptance of Software as a Service (SaaS). To develop this model, empirical surveys were conducted through four rounds of questionnaires obtained from customers of China's leading e-commerce company, Alibaba. Firstly, based on the data from the first three rounds (1399 respondents), a SaaSQual of operationalizing perceived e-service quality of SaaS was developed, and its four dimensions (ease of use, security, reliability and responsiveness) were identified. Secondly, based on the data from the fourth round (1532 respondents), it was found that the level of three user perceptions (e-service quality, usefulness, and social influence) were predictive of the users' behavioral intention to use SaaS, and their direct and indirect influences were tested. This study recommends engineering improvements to SaaS based upon a better understanding of the level of user acceptance of this service.

Abstract:Online shopping has already become the new mode that a lot of customers try to adopt. At the same time, the online shopping could not be successfully completed without logistics service. Logistics service quality (LSQ) has significant impact on revenue and profitability. This paper presents the issue from the perspective of the customer, and explores the initial factors of LSQ based on the online shopping through in-depth interview and the Delphi method. The survey uses a standard 7-point Likert-type scale to measure the LSQ. Empirical research results are shown in detail to confirm seven LSQ dimensions with Chinese characteristics, including timeliness quality, personal contact quality, order quality, order discrepancy handling, order condition and convenience. Statistical analyses of the investigation were conducted to test the reliability and validity of the LSQ evaluation model.

Abstract:The quality of delivery service encounters in which crowdsourced couriers and customers highly interact and mutually influence each other affects their attitudes and behaviours. Crowdsourced couriers and customers are bilateral users of crowdsourced logistics platforms whose loyalty determines the sustainability of platforms in a competitive environment. Due to the interdependence of couriers and customers in service encounters, this study utilizes the novel actor-partner interdependence model to investigate the impact of service encounter quality on courier and customer responses drawing upon emotion contagion theory. Dyadic analysis demonstrates that courier and customer perceptions of service encounter quality are positively related to their encounter satisfaction, with subsequent effects on loyalty (actor effects), and encounter satisfaction mediates the relationship between their perceptions of service encounter quality and loyalty. Notably, we show that customer encounter satisfaction is not only influenced by their own perception of service encounter quality but also by the corresponding courier's emotional contagion through interaction (partner effects). This study provides valuable insights for practitioners of crowdsourcing logistics platforms to improve the quality of future service encounters.

Abstract:Five studies are presented that explore how representations of significant others may automatically affect goal pursuit. Specifically, evidence is presented that suggests goals may be primed by one's representation of a significant other and that this priming may be moderated by one's closeness to this other individual. It is also shown to be affected by the number of different goals associated with this person. The greater the number of goals associated with a significant other, the less likely this individual will invoke any 1 goal very strongly. Such goal priming is shown to have implications for the extent to which goals are pursued (as seen through task persistence and performance) as well as the extent to which they are inhibited or ignored (especially when an individual is associated with a goal unrelated to a current pursuit).

Abstract:This article determines the quality factors which improve the satisfaction of logistics services, and the specific evaluation items that customers value. Moreover, this study verifies the moderating effect of consumers on the perceived importance of last-mile logistics services, and its impact on logistics service satisfaction. Through a literature review, the conceptual model is determined, and measurement scales are developed. Furthermore, we collect data through online surveys and employ structural equation modeling, hierarchical regression analysis, and importance–performance analysis methods in order to analyze the collected data, and to test the research hypotheses. The findings of this study are as follows. First, the qualities of personal contact, timeliness, and empathy in the fresh food e-commerce logistics service quality evaluation system have a significant positive impact on the fresh food e-commerce logistics service consumer satisfaction, but the delivery quality and information quality are not significant. Second, consumers’ perceived importance of last-mile logistics services has a positive and significant impact on the consumer satisfaction of fresh food e-commerce logistics services. Moreover, as a moderating variable, its moderating effect has limitations: it only affects the relationship between information quality, timeliness quality, empathy quality, and consumer satisfaction. Finally, in the three evaluation dimensions of information quality, timeliness quality, and empathy quality, specific items that need to be further improved are identified. This study enriches and supplements the empirical research in the field of fresh food e-commerce logistics, and provides academic literature with a reference value for fresh food e-commerce logistics enterprises.

Abstract:Purpose This study explores the factors that characterize the logistics service quality (LSQ) of cross-border e-commerce and identifies the different relationships between these factors with respect to customer satisfaction. Design/methodology/approach The study applied a two-stage mixed-methods design. The first stage (Stage 1) was a qualitative study of 3,000 reviews from the Amazon China e-commerce platform. The second stage (Stage 2) included a quantitative study that analyzed survey data from 590 Chinese cross-border e-commerce customers using the Kano model. Findings Stage 1 involved developing a conceptual framework for the LSQ of cross-border e-commerce, including six dimensions: timeliness, safety, reliability, economy, personnel contact quality and information quality. In Stage 2, the study found that only reliability and personnel contact quality indicators are linearly related to customer satisfaction. Timeliness and the safety of packaging greatly contribute to customer satisfaction, but do not cause dissatisfaction when unfulfilled. Economics and information quality indicators, and the safety of goods, are basic requirements that tend to provoke customer dissatisfaction when unmet, but do not increase customer satisfaction when they are met. Originality/value This study is one of the first to construct a conceptual model of LSQ that applies to cross-border e-commerce and to identify the instrumental nature of various LSQ attributes and their impact on improved customer satisfaction.

Enhancing Online-to-offline Delivery Efficiency Facilitated by Industry 4.0: a Personnel Configuration Perspective.

Abstract:Purpose The overuse and scarcity of resources emphasize the importance of the circular economy. The technology facilitated by Industry 4.0 stimulates the implementation of the circular economy that aims to reduce resource use and enhance operational efficiency. This study focuses on enhancing delivery efficiency in an online-to-offline (O2O) context from an Industry 4.0 technology-facilitated personal configuration perspective, that is, comparing in-house and crowdsourced delivery efficiency in China's O2O on-demand food delivery context. Design/methodology/approach The authors collect 128,152 orders from 38 restaurants of an online restaurant chain in China. The authors adopt multiple regression analysis to examine the delivery efficiency gap between in-house and crowdsourced deliverymen and the determinants of this efficiency gap. Findings The findings of this study reveal that crowdsourced deliverymen exhibit higher delivery efficiency, in terms of a shorter delivery time, than in-house deliverymen. In addition, the authors find that platforms providing monetary incentives or implementing late delivery penalties enlarge this efficiency gap. Furthermore, the authors show that external factors, such as working on weekends and bad weather conditions, contribute to the narrowing of this performance efficiency. Practical implications The study's findings suggest that platforms should use advanced technologies facilitated by Industry 4.0 to optimize their personnel configuration to enhance their delivery efficiency and reduce carbon emissions. The effective approaches include using financial incentives and improving working schedules. Originality/value The authors' findings contribute to the online fulfillment literature by focusing on delivery efficiency in the O2O context from the Industry 4.0 technology-facilitated personnel configuration perspective. The authors examine how internal and external factors moderate the performance efficiency between these two types of deliverymen.

Abstract:Nowadays, e-commerce has been developed rapidly because of the popularity of the internet, and online shopping has become an integral part of people’s lives. E-commerce not only has brought changes in the way of trading, but also leads to the growth of express delivery business. On the other hand, acting as an important support role for e-commerce, express delivery lays the foundation for the development of e-commerce. In the other word, e-commerce and express delivery are two industries that rely on and promote each other. However, the express delivery industry has also produced a lot of new problems to be solved in the e-commerce environment, such as consumer information security and logistics information fraud. As a result, these issues affect the consumer satisfaction of the express brands, and also pose a threat to the consumers’ evaluation of the shopping websites indirectly. Therefore, it is so essential for express industry to understand the factors that influence the express brand satisfaction in the e-commerce environment and to take measures to improve the quality of the express delivery services according to the key influential factors, so as to enhance the consumer satisfaction of the express brands. In this paper, we combine qualitative and quantitative methods. Firstly, assumptions are proposed and a theoretical model is built after having read a lot of related literature. Secondly, we design a questionnaire according to the unique characteristics of express services in China’s e-commerce environment with reference to some mature scales, and then issue the questionnaires to online shopping users. Finally, after questionnaires are collected and are processed, SPSS16.0 and AMOS18.0 statistical software is used to analyze the data. At the beginning, reliability and validity of questionnaires are analyzed, and then we verify the hypothesis with the structural equation model, and the final satisfaction model is constructed after constant adjusting and correcting. In the academia, there are so many papers about express brand satisfaction in the traditional business model and shopping website satisfaction in the e-commerce environment, but so little attention is paid to the factors influencing express brand satisfaction in the e-commerce environment. This paper reveals the relationships between factors of service quality and brand satisfaction in the express industry under current e-commerce environment, and for convenience, economy, timeliness and reliability are used to measure express service quality. It then develops a structural equation model （SEM） to describe those correlations and effects. The results show that timeliness and reliability of express during online shopping have a direct positive impact on the express brand satisfaction, and the reliability has the most significant influence on the express brand satisfaction. In addition, customer experience moderates the impact of express service quality positively on express brand satisfaction. This paper deepens the research on the customer experience and plays a guiding role in the improvement of service performance of the express delivery industry in the e-commerce environment. This paper also puts forward three improvement measures about how to promote the consumer satisfaction towards the express enterprises in the e-commerce environment. Firstly, express delivery companies should cooperate with the e-commerce companies intimately to ensure the timeliness and reliability of the express and create a harmonious relationship among e-commerce companies, express companies and customers. Secondly, express companies should pay more attention to the users’ experience management in the online shopping environment, including direct use experience and evaluation on the internet. Because of the high costs of direct experience and the convenience of the internet, consumers are more willing to choose the express brands indirectly through the evaluation of other consumers on the internet. Thirdly, express delivery companies have to manage the express franchisees strictly and regulate the operation and supervision of franchisees to prevent chaos like " empty package”.

Abstract:<span>With the surge in online purchases, customers' requirement for last-mile delivery also increases. This study focuses on the express delivery service, the primary channel in last-mile delivery, to discover the factors influence customers' use. Based on the extended Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology, a conceptual model is proposed to structure the hypothetical effects between the constructs performance expectancy in delivery speed and delivery reliability, effort expectancy, facilitating conditions and behavioural intention. A 5-year (2015–2019) longitudinal survey was conducted in the UK, and 3964 responses were collected to validate the model. The results indicate that the performance expectancy in delivery reliability has a positive impact on customers' behaviour intention to adopt an express delivery service, while the performance expectancy in delivery speed, unexpectedly, shows insignificant impact. Moreover, the effort expectancy was found to have no effect on behaviour intention; however, the facilitating conditions have a negative influence.</span>

Abstract:For logistics service providers (LSPs), improving customer satisfaction and obtaining customer re-use intention are key to gaining sustainable competitive advantages and success. Logistics service quality (LSQ) is a concern for logistics service providers, retailers, and customers. The proposed model, which is based on the stimuli-organism-response theory and the logistics service quality framework, integrates operational quality, resource quality, information quality, personal contact quality, customization quality, and customer satisfaction to study logistics service re-use intentions. The data were obtained from an online survey using a structured questionnaire given to those with experience in logistics service. Using partial least squares structural equation modeling on 810 respondents who were adult Chinese customers, this study discovered that operational, resource, information, personal contact, and customization qualities positively affect the satisfaction of logistics service customers, while customer satisfaction positively affects re-use intention. Moreover, the results of the mediation analysis revealed that customer satisfaction mediated the connection between the five components of LSQ and the re-use intention of logistics services. The originality of the study lies in its comprehensive examination of the direct and indirect effects of service quality dimensions on customer satisfaction and logistics service re-use intention in the context of logistics services. This study provides valuable insights into the importance of customer satisfaction in the logistics industry and highlights the need for logistics companies to prioritize customer satisfaction and improve their overall performance and competitiveness.

Abstract:Purpose The purpose of this paper is to examine the effects of final delivery solutions on e-shopping usage behaviour by modelling their interaction across residents living in different neighourhoods with availabilities of different facilities, including automated parcel stations (APSs), collection and delivery points (CDPs), and the direct-to-home delivery stations of parcel express firms (PEFs). Design/methodology/approach The study is based on a survey on e-shopping behaviour and delivery awareness. A mixed structural equation model is used to predict the interactions among availability of final delivery facilities (AFDF), level of satisfaction with delivery services and e-shopping usage after controlling individual socioeconomic attributes and retail environment. Findings Compared with AFDF, individual socioeconomic attributes are the most influential factors contributing to e-shopping spending and frequency. Improving AFDF has only a slight effect on e-shopping spending, while a larger impact on e-shopping frequency and perceived satisfaction to delivery services is observed. The quantity of PEF delivery stations has a relatively large influence on e-shopping usage but the effects of APSs and CDPs are not as strong as expected. Research limitations/implications The causality between final delivery solutions and e-shopping behaviour can be further tested by using social experiments or longitudinal data. Practical implications All findings will help business and public policy decision makers to derive a balanced and effective deployment of final delivery solutions, which is also referential for other emerging markets similar to China. Originality/value This study theoretically contributes to the international literature by examining the heterogeneous effects of final delivery solutions on different aspects of e-shopping engagement.

Abstract:This study applies the partnership quality theory to investigate how the perceived information sharing quality from express delivery service providers can affect logistics service performance for online shoppers in terms of partnership quality (including trust and commitment) and willingness to share information from E-commerce enterprises. Based on 421 samples of E-commerce enterprises in China, the results of structural equation modelling revealed that perceived information sharing quality affects partnership trust, which in turn affects the partnership commitment and willingness to share information. Partnership quality and willingness to share information affect the perceived performance of the express delivery services. Surprisingly, information sharing quality does not play a role in commitment. This study provides a theoretical contribution to E-commerce supply chain research in constructing a cognition, affective, behavior, and conative performance model for further research.

Abstract:As an important area for pharmaceutical e-commerce to maintain sustainable development, further improving the quality of pharmaceutical logistics service deserves our in-depth attention. However, a review of the previous literature reveals a lack of analysis of the quality of pharmaceutical e-commerce logistics services implemented at the user level. Therefore, this paper aims to investigate the impact situation of logistics service encounters on customer satisfaction in the context of pharmaceutical e-commerce. Using the S-O-R framework, we have constructed a structural equation model of "logistics service encounters - user perception - customer satisfaction" based on the pharmaceutical e-commerce context by combining service encounter theory with the LSQ model. A total of 610 valid questionnaires were collected and the PLS method was used to implement data statistics and hypotheses analysis. The results showed that all pathways were validated, except for the non-significant path coefficients between logistics function encounter and perceived risk. Furthermore, the degree of influence between health information encounter, interpersonal medical encounter, and internal perceptions depends on the e-health literacy capabilities of customers. This paper can help pharmaceutical e-commerce to understand the dynamics of the user-oriented logistics services market, clarify the key encounter dimensions between customers and e-commerce, and adjust their logistics service delivery management in time to maintain their sustainable position.

Abstract:Purpose - This study is meaningful in providing strategic implications for improving the logistics service quality of fresh food e-commerce companies by empirically analyzing the impact of logistics service quality on customer satisfaction, customer trust, and repurchase intention. Design/Methodology/Approach - The study collected data on 285 customers with shopping experience on fresh food e-commerce platforms and verified with a structural equation model using AMOS 26.0. Findings - First, it was confirmed that the delivery quality, timeliness, and reliability of fresh food e-commerce logistics service quality had a positive impact on customer satisfaction. Second, it was found that delivery quality, information quality, and reliability of fresh food e-commerce logistics service quality had a positive impact on customer trust. Third, both customer satisfaction and customer trust had a positive impact on repurchase intention. Research Implications - In terms of theory, theoretical research is carried out by investigating which factors of fresh food e-commerce logistics service quality can improve customer satisfaction and customer trust. In terms of practice, it provides reference suggestions for fresh food e-commerce enterprises to improve the quality of logistics services and improve business performance in the future. It will also provide a reference for other follow-up research.

Abstract:How human-computer interaction affects customer electronic service quality satisfaction is an important issue that electronic service-based companies need to consider. This paper constructs a conceptual model based on service dominant logic theory and task technology fit theory. It conducts a questionnaire survey of 559 Taobao platform users to verify the proposed hypothesis. The results show that human-computer interaction comprises three basic factors (technology functionality, task routineness, and technology readiness) and two core factors (interaction between task routineness and technology functionality, and interaction between technology readiness and technology functionality). This research enriches the theoretical basis of electronic service quality. It promotes the development of task technology fit theory in service science, providing guidance for electronic service-based companies to improve service interfaces and enhance electronic service quality.

The Impact of Trust and Relationship Commitment on 3PL Integration and Performance: A User Perspective

Abstract:Though the integration between third-party logistics users and providers (3PL integration) has received increasing attention from academicians and practitioners in recent years, little was known about the factors influencing 3PL integration and their impacts on performance. This study investigates the impact of trust and relationship commitment on 3PL integration and performance. We propose and empirically test a model using data collected from 361 third-party logistics users in Mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan. The findings from this study reveal the existence of positive relationship between trust and relationship commitment, relationship commitment and 3PL integration as well as 3PL integration and performance. Our results also indicate that relationship management and 3PL integration are helpful to the performance of both 3PL providers and users.
A Study on the Effects of Coupang Platform’s Logistics Service Quality on Satisfaction, Trust and Repurchase Intention

Abstract:In modern society, with the increasing number of online shopping platforms and their development, various platforms have also launched logistics services such as same-day delivery and morning delivery, and the competition among platforms has become more intense. Therefore, it is necessary to study the influence of logistics service quality, user satisfaction and trust on user repurchase intention. In addition, the flexibility of platform logistics services is an important boost to help the platform succeed and meet the needs of different groups, but there is currently a lack of relevant demonstration research. Therefore, based on the theoretical background of logistics service quality in online shopping, this study combines order quality, delivery quality, information quality, customer service and the flexibility of the Coupang shopping platform to construct a research model and establish hypotheses. From January 6 to February 3, 2023, a questionnaire survey was conducted in the form of a Google questionnaire for Coupang users with experience in using and purchasing. At the end of the investigation, a total of 500 questionnaires were received, except for 47 questionnaires with no purchase history and 49 dishonest ones, the remaining 404 questionnaires were statistically analyzed using SPSS, and finally analyzed. The results of this study show that, first of all, in terms of logistics service quality, order quality, delivery quality, customer service, and flexibility have certain positive (+) effects on satisfaction. However, information quality did not affect satisfaction. This means that the quality of information related to orders, transactions, and logistics on the platform cannot meet consumers’ expectations. Second, the quality of logistics services has a positive (+) impact on information products. Third, satisfaction and trust have a positive (+) impact on all users’ repurchase intentions. Many people are likely to become loyal users of the platform. This study reveals a causal relationship between flexibility and satisfaction and trust, with important implications. And it proves that consumers’ repurchase intention is based on excellent product and logistics service quality

Abstract:This study investigates gender-based differences in the satisfaction ranking of riders on real-time crowdsourcing logistics platforms, using online reviews from the Ele.me platform. Quantitative methods, including the frequency ratio-based Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP), probabilistic linguistic term sets (PLTS), and fuzzy comprehensive evaluation (FCE), were applied to analyze satisfaction differences between men and women riders. The findings reveal an asymmetric pattern in satisfaction preferences: women riders place more emphasis on perceived value, while men riders prioritize service perceived quality. Although both groups rank platform image, product perceived quality, and rider expectations similarly, the importance of these factors varies significantly, indicating an underlying asymmetry in their expectations and values. Women riders express higher satisfaction with platform image, rider expectations, service perceived quality, and product perceived quality, with rider expectations showing the largest difference. Additionally, the multi-criteria decision-making methods used in this study offer insights for optimizing service performance in real-time crowdsourcing logistics platforms, particularly in handling uncertainty and enhancing system adaptability through fuzzy sets. These findings provide a basis for developing gender-specific strategies aimed at enhancing rider satisfaction, minimizing turnover, and improving platform adaptability—contributing to a more inclusive and sustainable logistics supply chain.

Abstract:Self-service technology (SST) is a logistic innovation in e-commerce that enhances last-mile delivery efficiency in supply chain management. By combining Innovation Diffusion Theory with Resource Matching Theory, we proposed a comprehensive framework to explain the relationships between beliefs, attitude, and intention in Guanzhou, China. The findings revealed that attitude played a crucial role in influencing consumer intention to adopt SST and that attitude has direct and indirect effects. Additionally, consumer perceptions of compatibility, relative advantage, reliability, and complexity indirectly affected their adoption intention through attitude. These factors had positive and negative effects. The results highlighted the importance of attitudes as immediate predictors of intention, as consumer attitudes (favorable and unfavorable) were shaped by their perceptions. We conclude by recommending strategies to promote positive attitudes toward SST and enhance safety, efficiency, and the overall user experience.
