Abstract:Both dynamic and interactive, cross-cultural education emphasizes respect, interaction, and understanding between various cultural groups. Its fundamental principle is to acknowledge and value cultural diversity while opposing attempts to artificially unite cultures in order to recognise the equality and common heritage of all cultures. The goal of intercultural education, from an individual's perspective, is to support those who are educated in understanding, accepting, and respecting other foreign cultures in order to better adapt to and thrive in a multicultural society. To develop students' intercultural communication skills is the goal of intercultural education. Based on the associations between intercultural education and speculative reading, this essay analyzes the crucial role that intercultural English teaching and speculative reading instruction play in colleges and universities before going over the situation and approaches that English speculative reading instruction is currently facing. This paper primarily discusses the data on students from the student work management system, the relationship between grades and actual behavior, and the rules that are mined to provide a scientific basis for decision-making for the relevant units in colleges and universities. According to experimental analysis, the data mining algorithm in this paper performs better than the other two in terms of predicting students' English achievement, with an average accuracy of 0.86 compared to 0.71, 0.075, and 0.73 for the other three algorithms. The decision tree created using this methodology can quantitatively reflect the impact of different teaching factors on learning quality and offers a clear and reliable foundation for formulating targeted improvement strategies.

Abstract:Due to the extensive development of globalization, the ethnic makeup of the world is becoming more and more complex, and the issue of cultural diversity has emerged as a key concern for all nations' educational systems. Cross-cultural education is an educational prescription for many western countries to deal with cultural diversity and strengthen national cohesion in order to address this issue and promote mutual respect, understanding, and communication between different groups and individuals. One of the most recent developments in global education is cross-cultural education, which has also given rise to a brand-new area of study in the field of education. The research has identified cross-cultural education as making up about 50% of all education. Numerous nations have practiced cross-cultural education, which has been promoted by UNESCO, with many issues that merit study. The traditional English teaching approach cannot meet the learning needs of today's students in light of the recent curriculum reform, and students have long engaged in passive learning. College English instructors must modify traditional teaching philosophies, adapt to contemporary developments, integrate information technology, use a variety of teaching techniques, fully pique students' interest in learning, and encourage them to take the initiative in their own education if they want to reclaim the initiative from the students in their classrooms.

Abstract:“Speculation” is considered to be one of the important qualities that modern students should possess, and it is also the goal of modern education. With the advent of the Internet age, teaching models have been continuously combined with technology. From mixed teaching to flipped classroom, teaching with different methods of information transmission can achieve the best results. This paper is aimed at studying the curriculum design of college students’ English critical thinking ability in the Internet era. On the basis of analyzing the significance of cultivating college students’ critical thinking ability and the curriculum design of critical thinking ability, the flipped classroom mode is used for teaching practice through the experimental method and questionnaire survey method. The personality tendency and the cultivation of students’ critical thinking ability in the flipped classroom were analyzed statistically. Finally, it was concluded that the students’ critical thinking skills have been improved to a certain extent through the various links set in the flipped classroom teaching.

Abstract:Under the background of post critical pedagogy, teachers should pay attachment to the awakening of students’ self-identity consciousness and the cultivation of critical thinking skills. The teaching model of writing course adopted by the author is as follows: firstly, the writing course is equipped with a dedicated reading manual. It is compiled to establish cultural reading materials which include 12 theme reading passages to introduce Chinese and American culture and 12 writing sharing to promote identity thinking based on the relevant theories of Constructivism and Output Hypothesis by using the Flesch Kincaid Readability Test. The teaching process emphasizes the integration of students’ vertical and horizontal knowledge. Referring to the Knowledge Transformation Model of Writing proposed by Bereiter and Scardamalia, the teaching model vertically emphasizes the integration of pre-class cultural reading, in-class skill training, and post-class thinking reinforcement; it horizontally emphasizes on the integration with reading courses, cultural courses, and speculative courses. Overall, the model stresses the cultivation of cross-cultural communication skills. It emphasizes understanding oneself and the other and stimulates students’ writing interest in cultural reading; it emphasizes that the other is for my own use and enrich students’ cultural illustrations in skill training; it emphasizes that I see the world and reflect on my own learning, life, and social hotpots in theme writing. In short, the author actively explores “playing” with learning, “stealing” with learning, and “using” in learning.

Abstract:Abstract Discursive reading ability is an important component of English proficiency and an important measure of the level of language proficiency; to a large extent, the development of reading ability can contribute to the improvement of a student’s language ability, and the development of English reading ability in English teaching is one of the important requirements of English teaching under the new curriculum reform. The development of science and technology and multiculturalism in today’s society has led to the multimodality of most information transmission activities, which requires people to have corresponding multimodal reading abilities. The traditional English teaching mode is largely unable to meet the needs of the times, which makes it necessary to further explore the application of multimodal teaching mode in the English classroom. This paper focuses on the use of modality in English reading classrooms. The hypothesis of “multimodal reading classrooms can improve students’ learning interest and reading ability” is used as the theoretical support, and systemic functional linguistics, multimodal discourse analysis theory, and constructivist theory are used as the theoretical support. We used questionnaires and interviews to explore the multimodal teaching model of English reading. The experimental results show that the multimodal teaching model helps to improve students’ English performance, reading ability, and interest in English reading. To a certain extent, the multimodal teaching model can promote the development of English teaching, guarantee the quality of the course teaching, and make the English course less boring.

Abstract:The development of big data and wireless communication technology has expanded the channels for Western culture to enter China. Diversified teaching forms make us dizzy, which has a great impact on traditional English teaching. This paper aims to study the dilemma and countermeasures of English teaching reform based on multiculturalism under the background of big data and wireless communication. It analyzes the connotation of multiculturalism, the characteristics of the era of big data, the problems existing in college English teaching, and the necessity of college English teaching reform. On the basis of feasibility, in order to understand the current situation of English teaching in colleges and universities, this paper takes teachers and students of a college in this province as the research object, conducts a questionnaire survey on them, and finds out how to better use the background of big data and wireless communication through data analysis. Combined with the multicultural trend of the times to carry out English teaching, the study concluded that under the current technological background, our English teaching must adhere to the student-centered approach and take the improvement of teachers' quality as an important means.

Abstract:The High School English Curriculum Standard (2017 edition) states that it's crucial to cultivate core competences for students, which includes language ability, learning ability, cultural awareness and thinking quality. There is no doubt that critical thinking, as one of the key components of thinking quality, should be emphasized. However, due to the influence of examination-oriented education and other factors, most teachers tend to pay too much attention to the cultivation of students' language knowledge and language skills, neglecting the cultivation of students' critical thinking ability. The traditional mode of interpretation of language knowledge still dominates in most English reading teaching, teaching design tends to be modeled and text processing is so superficial that students can not understand the discourse deeply. Students in the classroom did not experience a deep thinking level of ability training. Therefore, teachers should think carefully about how to cultivate students’ critical thinking in high school English reading class and adjust their teaching methods accordingly. This paper will take the teaching design of a reading lesson as an example to explore how to cultivate students' critical thinking in high school reading class.

Abstract:The theoretical bases for the thesis are cross-cultural foreign language education theory, systemic education theory and multimedia-assisted English teaching theory. At first, the thesis summarizes and analyzes every unit involving cultural knowledge in College English textbook Oxford English used in Shanghai at present, demonstrating the feasibility of culture teaching in the elementary stage of College English. Then based on systemic teaching theories, the thesis analyzes teaching aim, teaching demand, teaching environment, teaching content, teaching strategies, evaluative strategies and implementation of culture teaching. Next, the thesis designs specific courses to match daily teaching activities by way of collecting culture teaching materials, designing culture teaching content and relevant teaching strategies. When designing specific courses, I take advice from experts and teachers on the front, develop three teaching cases and use courseware for teaching practice.

Abstract:The important task of comprehensively improving educational quality, promoting educational fairness, and speeding up educational modernization raises the bar for educational informatization. This study investigates and analyses the wisdom teaching design mode of college English, based on English curriculum standards, wisdom education concept, and the theoretical foundation of the wisdom classroom. The evaluation method of college graduates' learning efficiency is established using a multifactor model, DEA (data envelopment analysis), and other statistical methods. The accuracy of model performance is improved by more than 75 percent and the recall rate is improved by more than 65 percent when the feature dimension is increased from 5 to 100. The multifactor model is widely applicable, and it can also be used to investigate the evaluation of college English teaching in the new era.

Abstract:An RFID sensor is installed above the classroom door, and the scanning distance is set to 8 m to identify the composite campus cards of incoming and outgoing teachers and students, so as to realize automatic statistics of teachers’ theoretical teaching workload and automatic attendance of students’ theoretical class hours. The system automatically starts the multimedia equipment just 5 minutes before class and conducts self-checks on all devices in advance, reducing teachers’ preclass operation steps. The multimedia management system of all classrooms is connected to the campus network and is centrally controlled by the cloud system. When the multimedia equipment in a classroom fails, it can directly instruct teachers to change to an idle classroom. Using the relevant theories of educational psychology and teaching theory, the WPBL teaching model based on the theory of multiple intelligences is expounded and demonstrated. It focuses on expounding theories and ideas; relationships and structures; and environment and resources and conducts in-depth discussions on relevant design rationales and architectural levels. Research has found that students are more interested in reading English than before. The reason is that in the English reading class of the experimental class, basically every student can have their own teaching activities, and more students like to participate in these activities. Applying the theory of multiple intelligences to English reading teaching has played a positive role in stimulating students’ interest in reading. Multiple intelligence English reading activities play an important role in improving students’ English reading performance. Through various teaching activities, the students in the experimental class are more interested and confident in the English reading class. Applying the theory of multiple intelligences to the English reading class can improve the students’ English reading performance and reading ability. In order to apply the theory of multiple intelligences to actual English reading teaching, when designing personalized English reading activities, teachers should learn to combine the theory with the purpose and content of English reading teaching.

Abstract:With the intensification of global economic integration, international exchanges have become increasingly frequent, and employers have put forward higher requirements for ICC (Intercultural Communication Competence) of college students. In this paper, in ICC mode, the multimodal evaluation model framework of ICC is constructed by using multimodal theory. The evaluation object is Chinese college students, the evaluation media are computers and networks, and the evaluation contents include knowledge, consciousness, speculation, attitude, skills, and strategies of cross-cultural communication. The research results will help Chinese college students overcome their fears during the cross-cultural communications, meanwhile,can strengthen the cultivation of ICC for students as well. After comprehensive consideration of various influencing factors, comparing the overall teaching quality of universities of different grades or the same grade can objectively reflect the overall teaching level of the university, hoping to provide some reference for the application of multimodal discourse analysis theory and CET (college English teaching).

Based on corpus, this study constructed a model of intelligent English teaching assisted by virtual corpus. The traditional teaching of college English reading is based on, around, and for texts. Using DDL model, teachers can break the limitation of textbooks. On the basis of analyzing the general idea of the text, they can search out massive real corpus related to the general idea of the text by searching the core words in the text, so as to provide extensive reading resources for students in the maximum range. At the same time, teachers can rely on the corpus to design different types of teaching activities, realize student-centered task-based, inquiry-based, and autonomous learning and cultivate students’ critical thinking ability, practical ability, and cross-cultural communication ability. This model breaks the limitation of “classroom + textbook,” realizes student-centered task-based, exploratory, and autonomous learning, trains interdisciplinary new engineering talents needed by emerging industries and new economy in the future, and promotes the sustainable development of English teaching. Corpus-data-driven college English teaching mode breaks the limitation of “classroom + textbook,” changes the traditional college English teaching mode, and realizes student-centered task-oriented, inquiry-based, and autonomous learning.

Abstract:With the prosperity of the economy, China's foreign exchanges are becoming more and more frequent, and English is becoming more and more important as the common language of international communication. For decades, Chinese educators and scholars have achieved great success in teaching English, but there are also some problems, including neglecting the teaching of crosscultural knowledge in English classrooms. And in the crosscultural English teaching based on hierarchical correlation analysis, its specific structure system is not complete, and its application scope is also less. Therefore, this paper analyzes hierarchical correlation analysis, teaching mode, etc., which lays the foundation for subsequent research. In addition, combined with the current research status, this paper analyzes the past crosscultural knowledge system and proposes a new structural model. A large number of experiments have verified the application effect of the improved knowledge architecture model in crosscultural English teaching under the hierarchical correlation analysis. The new model can improve students' crosscultural awareness and crosscultural communication competence and improve the previous teaching system structure. There is a problem that both hierarchical teaching and overall planning cannot be taken into account. This paper studies the crosscultural issues in English teaching and conducts research from the following four aspects: first, it discusses the cultivation of crosscultural communicative competence of college students in English teaching and proposes some feasible solutions to the problem of neglecting the integration of crosscultural knowledge in English teaching. Sexual suggestions cultivate students' crosscultural awareness of English learning and improve the efficiency of English learning. The second is to point out that college school students should pay attention to the differences in cultural communication between China and foreign countries and develop the awareness and ability of crosscultural communication. The third is to explore ways to improve students' crosscultural communicative competence and cultivate all-round English talents for the country and society. The fourth is how to achieve crosscultural communication, so that people with different cultural backgrounds can communicate and learn smoothly. Based on the above problems, this paper adopts the method of case analysis to discuss the problem of imperfect cross-cultural knowledge system in English teaching in China, and the educational structure is incomplete.

Abstract:With a focus on fostering core competencies, nurturing students’ critical thinking has emerged as a crucial facet of English reading instruction. However, current English reading instruction in high schools tends to neglect the cultivation of critical thinking, leading to a widespread phenomenon of “absence of speculation” in teaching. Therefore, this study aims to explore effective strategies, including designing teaching objectives for critical thinking, utilizing visual aids, introducing cognitive level questioning, and implementing embedded evaluation for cultivating critical thinking in high school English reading instruction. The findings of the study provide insights for constructing a coherent framework for critical thinking teaching.
Implementation of Jigsaw Teaching Model in College English Reading Classes to Improve Student Engagement

Abstract:With the advancement of technology and eay access to information, English teaching in college has undergone significant transformation and upgrades in both concepts and equipment. This study, as a kind of teaching reform, was to assess the efficacy of the Jigsaw teaching model in fostering student engagement in a college-level English reading course. It utilized an experimental design with a control group and an experimental group. The overall research process was computer-assisted with Chaoxing online teaching platfrom and Achieve 3000, a Lexile Framework for reading designed by MetaMetrics in America. 116 first-year undergraduates from a private university in Northwest China participated this research. After 16-week implementation, a data collection process was carried out which included a pre-test, post-test, and questionnaire survey. The collected data was then subjected to analysis using IBM SPSS Statistics 26.0, a highly effective statistical software for descriptive and bivariate statistics data analysis. This software was utilized in this particular study to accurately depict the numerical outcome and determine the learning performance of the two student groups mentioned earlier. The results indicated a significant discrepancy between the pretest and post-test scores. The average scores on the pretest and post-test were 48.44 and 68.93, respectively. Consequently, the implementation of the Jigsaw teaching model was found to be effective in enhancing students' engagement and reading abilities. However, the study did note time constraints. Future investigations could span multiple semesters to obtain more comprehensive results.

Abstract:This research takes vocabulary learning in college English courses as an entry point and investigates the interrelationship between college students and electronic media, the presentation of interactive English-teaching content in college English, and the effect of different English-teaching modes on the effect of vocabulary learning through empirical methods in the form of network multimedia. This study provides ideas for an in-depth understanding of the incongruities that exist between interactive English teaching and environment, teacher and environment, and students and environment in the network multimedia environment and also brings thoughts on how to adapt interactive English teaching in college English to the development of modern information technology on the concept of interactive English teaching, interactive English-teaching methods, and interactive English-teaching modes. The concepts related to the adaptation of interactive English teaching based on multimedia, the compilation of the scale of adaptation of interactive English teaching based on multimedia and its influencing factors, and the construction of the model of influencing factors of adaptation of interactive English teaching based on multimedia, to a certain extent, enrich the theoretical system of learning adaptation. The design of the intervention model of adaptation of interactive English teaching based on multimedia broadens the intervention theory of learning adaptation; the study is also aimed at developing a multimedia-based interactive English-teaching adaptation intervention model and broadening the theory and method of learning adaptation.

Abstract:English Reading skill is one of the most important skills for senior high school students who learn English as a foreign language (EFL). However, the present ELF teaching method is still teacher-centered which neglects students’ learning interest and their participation in the process of teaching. In 1990s, Western scholars proposed multi-modal theory which suggests that semiotic resources (sound, images, video, animation, motion, color, facial expressions, etc.) can be used to stimulate different senses of students so as to improve their learning efficiency. The present study is intended to apply the multi-modal approach to EFL reading teaching in senior high school and tries to find out whether the multimodal teaching can stimulate students’ interest in English reading and improve their reading proficiency. In this study, with students of a high school in Anhui in China as the research subjects, an English reading teaching experiment was carried out. The analysis of data collected from reading tests and questionnaires indicates that the application of multi-modal teaching approach in high school EFL reading teaching can stimulate students’ interest in English reading and improve students’ English reading proficiency, and that most students take a positive attitude towards multimodal teaching approach.

Abstract:In this study, we explore the current situation of teaching college English reading in China and offer suggestions for improving it from the perspective of invitational rhetoric, mainly in terms of the three external conditions it advocates, safety, value and freedom, and its core, understanding. We distributed the questionnaire about the current situation of college English reading instruction to students majoring in English and analysed the results. Concerning the conditions of safety, the teachers respected students’ views, but the students were not confident and were unwilling to participate in teacher-student interaction; therefore, teachers should create a safe external environment so that students trust them. Concerning the conditions of value, teachers allowed students to fully express their perspectives, and they prepared and conducted classroom activities from the students’ standpoint. Regarding the conditions of freedom, students were selective in accepting teachers’ views and formulated their own views, but when their views differed from those of teachers, few presented their opinions; teachers must acknowledge their weaknesses at the right time so that students can realise disagreeing with teachers is not equal to offending them. Regarding the conditions of understanding, teachers no longer aimed to instill knowledge; they paid more attention to students’ understanding and encouraged them to form their own ideas while understanding students and accepting reasonable feedback.
