Abstract:Manual identification of tomato leaf diseases is a time-consuming and laborious process that may lead to inaccurate results without professional assistance. Therefore, an automated, early, and precise leaf disease recognition system is essential for farmers to ensure the quality and quantity of tomato production by providing timely interventions to mitigate disease spread. In this study, we have proposed seven robust Bayesian optimized deep hybrid learning models leveraging the synergy between deep learning and machine learning for the automated classification of ten types of tomato leaves (nine diseased and one healthy). We customized the popular Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) algorithm for automatic feature extraction due to its ability to capture spatial hierarchies of features directly from raw data and classical machine learning techniques [Random Forest (RF), XGBoost, GaussianNB (GNB), Support Vector Machines (SVM), Multinomial Logistic Regression (MLR), K-Nearest Neighbor (KNN)], and stacking for classifications. Additionally, the study incorported a Boruta feature filtering layer to capture the statistically significant features. The standard, research-oriented PlantVillage dataset was used for the performance testing, which facilitates benchmarking against prior research and enables meaningful comparisons of classification performance across different approaches. We utilized a variety of statistical classification metrics to demonstrate the robustness of our models. Using the CNN-Stacking model, this study achieved the highest classification performance among the seven hybrid models. On an unseen dataset, this model achieved average precision, recall, f1-score, mcc, and accuracy values of 98.527%, 98.533%, 98.527%, 98.525%, and 98.268%, respectively. Our study requires only 0.174 s of testing time to correctly identify noisy, blurry, and transformed images. This indicates our approach's time efficiency and generalizability in images captured under challenging lighting conditions and with complex backgrounds. Based on the comparative analysis, our approach is superior and computationally inexpensive compared to the existing studies. This work will aid in developing a smartphone app to offer farmers a real-time disease diagnosis tool and management strategies.

Abstract:Plant diseases cause significant productivity and economic losses, as well as a reduction in agricultural product quality and quantity. One principal impact on low crop yield is sickness due to bacteria, virus and fungus It is possible to avoid it by employing plant disease detection and categorization procedures. We used machine learning to detect and classify diseases in plant leaves because it evaluates data from several perspectives and categorizes it into one of several predefined classifications. In this research we create a model for the classification task which is sequential model. We trained a convolutional neural network (CNN) with help of the plant village dataset, which have 55,000 images divided into 39 completely distinct categories of each healthy and effected leaves. We trained data by using Adam optimization technique because it almost constantly plays quicker and higher global minimal convergence in comparison to the alternative optimization techniques. We achieved a validation accuracy of 98.74% using the architecture of CNN containing optimized parameters. CNNs, as can be observed, have a high-stop overall performance, making them surprisingly suitable for computerized identification of plant illnesses using simple plant leaf images. The experiment effects completed are similar with different current strategies in literature.

Abstract:Numerous problems have plagued the diagnosis of the passive-aggressive (P-A) personality disorder. Based on criteria established to evaluate the functional utility of diagnostic categories, the P-A personality disorder does not appear to be an adequate psychiatric diagnosis. However, the concept of passive-aggressiveness may be retained as a useful psychiatric construct when viewed from a dimensional rather than a categorical perspective. A model is presented that describes passive-aggressiveness as consisting of five interrelated psychological factors: rigidity, resentment, resistance, reactance, and reversed reinforcement. This interactive model provides a more detailed and richer description of the P-A style than what is captured in the current diagnostic nomenclature. It is hoped that the model's characterization of P-A in concrete and testable terms will facilitate research into the utility of the passive-aggressiveness construct.

Abstract:To ensure global food security and the overall profit of stakeholders, the importance of correctly detecting and classifying plant diseases is paramount. In this connection, the emergence of deep learning-based image classification has introduced a substantial number of solutions. However, the applicability of these solutions in low-end devices requires fast, accurate, and computationally inexpensive systems. This work proposes a lightweight transfer learning-based approach for detecting diseases from tomato leaves. It utilizes an effective preprocessing method to enhance the leaf images with illumination correction for improved classification. Our system extracts features using a combined model consisting of a pretrained MobileNetV2 architecture and a classifier network for effective prediction. Traditional augmentation approaches are replaced by runtime augmentation to avoid data leakage and address the class imbalance issue. Evaluation on tomato leaf images from the PlantVillage dataset shows that the proposed architecture achieves 99.30% accuracy with a model size of 9.60MB and 4.87M floating-point operations, making it a suitable choice for low-end devices. Abstract:Plants contribute significantly to the global food supply. Various Plant diseases can result in production losses, which can be avoided by maintaining vigilance. However, manually monitoring plant diseases by agriculture experts and botanists is time-consuming, challenging and error-prone. To reduce the risk of disease severity, machine vision technology (i.e., artificial intelligence) can play a significant role. In the alternative method, the severity of the disease can be diminished through computer technologies and the cooperation of humans. These methods can also eliminate the disadvantages of manual observation. In this work, we proposed a solution to detect tomato plant disease using a deep leaning-based system utilizing the plant leaves image data. We utilized an architecture for deep learning based on a recently developed convolutional neural network that is trained over 18,161 segmented and non-segmented tomato leaf images-using a supervised learning approach to detect and recognize various tomato diseases using the Inception Net model in the research work. For the detection and segmentation of disease-affected regions, two state-of-the-art semantic segmentation models, i.e., U-Net and Modified U-Net, are utilized in this work. The plant leaf pixels are binary and classified by the model as Region of Interest (ROI) and background. There is also an examination of the presentation of binary arrangement (healthy and diseased leaves), six-level classification (healthy and other ailing leaf groups), and ten-level classification (healthy and other types of ailing leaves) models. The Modified U-net segmentation model outperforms the simple U-net segmentation model by 98.66 percent, 98.5 IoU score, and 98.73 percent on the dice. InceptionNet1 achieves 99.95% accuracy for binary classification problems and 99.12% for classifying six segmented class images; InceptionNet outperformed the Modified U-net model to achieve higher accuracy. The experimental results of our proposed method for classifying plant diseases demonstrate that it outperforms the methods currently available in the literature.

Abstract:In Bangladesh, most people depend on agriculture for their livelihood. The country's economy and agricultural production are hampered if plants are affected by diseases. Crop pests also disrupt agricultural production. So, this paper proposes leaf disease, disease severity stage, and pest detection strategies with suggestions for prevention strategies using five notable Convolutional Neural Network models (CNN) such as VGG16, Resnet50, AlexNet, EfficientNetB2, and EfficientNetB3. This paper uses a dataset of tomato leaves consisting of 41,763 images which cover 10 classes of tomato disease, and a dataset of pests consisting of 4,271 images which cover 8 classes of pests. Firstly, these models are used for the classification of diseases and pests. Then disease and pest prevention techniques are shown. For disease and pest detection, EfficientNetB3 gives the best accuracy for training (99.85%), (99.80%), and validation (97.85%), (97.45%) respectively. For severity stage identification, AlexNet gives the best accuracy for training (69.02%) and validation (72.49%).

And it is very difficult tasks. In regular normal procedure it requires a more time period and trained person to detect accurate plant disease. In this paper, we proposed effective way for plant disease detection using computer science and machine learning model. Disease transmission from unhealthy plant to all other healthy plants in farm is one of the major damages to crop farm. And these diseases spread like forest fire and have the possible to impact the whole operation if not identified in early on. Now Plant disease detection methods helps to identify infected plants in a very early stage and also help us to identify plant disease in a wide range of area of crops in a cost-effective manner. The aim of this project model is to implement machine learning models, in our proposed system we take a plant leaf image on that leaf images we predict the plant disease using Convolution Neural Networks (CNN) model, in that we build a such a model to predict the plant disease with maximum accuracy and it is for plant disease detection for tomato plant. This machine learning model is analyzing different image metrics pixels data to determine the best performance of network. For that dataset were used around 7around 8016 images we going to use to train the model. We going to use 14 layers CNN models to get better accuracy results. Model consist various layers like convolution, pooling, flatten and dense. Early two layers that is preprocessing and augmentation of images Finally, we get the result of which disease that plant have.

Abstract:In the world, tomato is a significant economic crop. However, it is easily affected by various diseases. Misprediction of disease is caused since many prevailing methodologies focused on the tomato plant's specific portion. Thus, by employing deep learning (DL) multivariate normal DL neural network (MNDLNN) classifier, the study has proposed a framework for tomato plant disease (PD) detection. Firstly, the input images' colours are transmitted into HSI format. Next, from the images, the green pixels are masked, and healthy and unhealthy regions are isolated. Next by deploying the region of interest (ROI), the fruit and root are detected. Then, by utilizing the rectilinear K-means (KM) clustering (RKMC) algorithm, the unhealthy regions are segmented. Afterwards, by utilizing random motion squirrel search optimization (RMSSO), the essential features are extracted. Finally, MNDLNN effectively detects and classifies the disease types. The results revealed that the proposed framework performed the disease detection process more precisely than other top-notch methodologies.

Abstract:This research introduces a Computer-Aided Diagnosis-system designed aimed at automated detections & classification of tomato leaf diseases, combining traditional handcrafted features with advanced deep learning techniques. The system's process encompasses preprocessing, feature extraction, feature fusion, and classification. It utilizes enhancement filters and segmentation algorithms to isolate with Regions-of-Interests (ROI) in images tomato leaves. These features based arranged in ABCD rule (Asymmetry, Borders, Colors, and Diameter) are integrated with outputs from a Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) pretrained on ImageNet. To address data imbalance, we introduced a novel evaluation method that has shown to improve classification accuracy by 15% compared to traditional methods, achieving an overall accuracy rate of 92% in field tests. By merging classical feature engineering with modern machine learning techniques under mutual information-based feature fusion, our system sets a new standard for precision in agricultural diagnostics. Specific performance metrics showcasing the effectiveness of our approach in automated detection and classifying of tomato leaf disease.

Abstract:Tomato is one of the most essential and consumable crops in the world. Tomatoes differ in quantity depending on how they are fertilized. Leaf disease is the primary factor impacting the amount and quality of crop yield. As a result, it is critical to diagnose and classify these disorders appropriately. Different kinds of diseases influence the production of tomatoes. Earlier identification of these diseases would reduce the disease’s effect on tomato plants and enhance good crop yield. Different innovative ways of identifying and classifying certain diseases have been used extensively. The motive of work is to support farmers in identifying early-stage diseases accurately and informing them about these diseases. The Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) is used to effectively define and classify tomato diseases. Google Colab is used to conduct the complete experiment with a dataset containing 3000 images of tomato leaves affected by nine different diseases and a healthy leaf. The complete process is described: Firstly, the input images are preprocessed, and the targeted area of images are segmented from the original images. Secondly, the images are further processed with varying hyper-parameters of the CNN model. Finally, CNN extracts other characteristics from pictures like colors, texture, and edges, etc. The findings demonstrate that the proposed model predictions are 98.49% accurate.

A Lightweight Attention-Based Convolutional Neural Networks for Tomato Leaf Disease Classification

Abstract:Plant diseases pose a significant challenge for food production and safety. Therefore, it is indispensable to correctly identify plant diseases for timely intervention to protect crops from massive losses. The application of computer vision technology in phytopathology has increased exponentially due to automatic and accurate disease detection capability. However, a deep convolutional neural network (CNN) requires high computational resources, limiting its portability. In this study, a lightweight convolutional neural network was designed by incorporating different attention modules to improve the performance of the models. The models were trained, validated, and tested using tomato leaf disease datasets split into an 8:1:1 ratio. The efficacy of the various attention modules in plant disease classification was compared in terms of the performance and computational complexity of the models. The performance of the models was evaluated using the standard classification accuracy metrics (precision, recall, and F1 score). The results showed that CNN with attention mechanism improved the interclass precision and recall, thus increasing the overall accuracy (>1.1%). Moreover, the lightweight model significantly reduced network parameters (~16 times) and complexity (~23 times) compared to the standard ResNet50 model. However, amongst the proposed lightweight models, the model with attention mechanism nominally increased the network complexity and parameters compared to the model without attention modules, thereby producing better detection accuracy. Although all the attention modules enhanced the performance of CNN, the convolutional block attention module (CBAM) was the best (average accuracy 99.69%), followed by the self-attention (SA) mechanism (average accuracy 99.34%).

Abstract:Disease detection and treatment in tomato plant at its early stage contributes towards better production. It is a natural phenomenon that normally tomato plant got disease and if a proper care and remedial action have not taken on time, it badly affects the respective product quality, quantity or productivity. Health monitoring and disease detection of leaves in tomato crop is very critical and if left untreated, can cause serious problems with the plant and fruit, resulting in large losses, especially in fresh markets. Traditional manual methods of disease detection and treatment is based on naked eye observation which cannot provide accurate and on time information at a very early stage of its attack. This paper presents an image processing based techniques for the automatic detection and treatment of leaf diseases in tomato crop. In the proposed method, 13 different statistical features are calculated from tomato leaves using Gray Level Co Occurrence Matrix (GLCM) algorithm. The obtained features are classified into different diseases using Support Vector Machine (SVM). The processed leaf is compared with the stored features on the basis of which disease is recognized. Data are collected from local tomato crop fields and the dataset is divided into a training set and a test set used in the experiments. Experimental results show that the proposed method provides excellent annotation with accuracy of 100% for healthy leaf, 95% for early blight, 90% for septoria leaf spot and 85% late blight. The proposed method is implemented in the form of a cell phone application.

A lightweight dual-attention network for tomato leaf disease identification

Abstract:Tomato disease image recognition plays a crucial role in agricultural production. Today, while machine vision methods based on deep learning have achieved some success in disease recognition, they still face several challenges. These include issues such as imbalanced datasets, unclear disease features, small inter-class differences, and large intra-class variations. To address these challenges, this paper proposes a method for classifying and recognizing tomato leaf diseases based on machine vision. First, to enhance the disease feature details in images, a piecewise linear transformation method is used for image enhancement, and oversampling is employed to expand the dataset, compensating for the imbalanced dataset. Next, this paper introduces a convolutional block with a dual attention mechanism called DAC Block, which is used to construct a lightweight model named LDAMNet. The DAC Block innovatively uses Hybrid Channel Attention (HCA) and Coordinate Attention (CSA) to process channel information and spatial information of input images respectively, enhancing the model's feature extraction capabilities. Additionally, this paper proposes a Robust Cross-Entropy (RCE) loss function that is robust to noisy labels, aimed at reducing the impact of noisy labels on the LDAMNet model during training. Experimental results show that this method achieves an average recognition accuracy of 98.71% on the tomato disease dataset, effectively retaining disease information in images and capturing disease areas. Furthermore, the method also demonstrates strong recognition capabilities on rice crop disease datasets, indicating good generalization performance and the ability to function effectively in disease recognition across different crops. The research findings of this paper provide new ideas and methods for the field of crop disease recognition. However, future research needs to further optimize the model's structure and computational efficiency, and validate its application effects in more practical scenarios.

Abstract:Agriculture's productivity has decreased in the last decade due to climate change and inappropriate usage of water, fertilizer, and pesticides, which stimulate plant diseases. Plant pathogens are the prime threat to agriculture; diseases causes the development of plant and affects the quality and yield of the crop. To enhance crop yield and quality, early perceive the pathogens and insinuation of the proper medications are essential. Deep learning approaches produce promising results for classifying the input images, and the results vary for many reasons, such as data imbalance and fewer or identical features among other classes of the dataset. In this work, tomato plant disease classification is proposed by using Multilevel Feature Fusion Network (MFFN). It employs ResNet50, MFFN, and Adaptive Attention Mechanism, which combines channel, spatial, and pixel attention to classify the tomato plant leaf images. The proposed deep learning-based approach is trained and tested on a tomato plant leaves dataset and achieved 99.88% training accuracy, 99.88% validation accuracy, and 99.83% external testing accuracy. It outperformed the existing approaches relevant to the tomato plant dataset. Further, this work also proposes a pesticide prescription module that provides pesticide information based on the type of leaf disease.

Abstract:For microbial production of lycopene, the lycopene synthetic genes from Pantoea agglomerans were integrated into Saccharomyces cerevisiae strain BY4742, to obtain strain ZD-L-000 for production of 0.17 mg · L(-1) lycopene. Improving supplies of isoprenoid precursors was then investigated for increasing lycopene production. Four key genes were chosen to be overexpressed, inclu- ding truncated 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-CoA reductase gene (tHMG1), which is the major rate-limiting enzyme in the mevalonate (MVA) pathway, a mutated global regulatory factor gene (upc2.1), a fusion gene of FPP synthase (ERG20) and endogenous GGPP synthase (BTS1), which is a key enzyme in the diterpenoid synthetic pathway, and GGPP synthase gene (SaGGPS) from Sulfolobus acidocaldarius. Over-expression of upc2.1 could not improve lycopene production, while over-expression of tHMGI , BTS1-ERG20 and SaGGPS genes led to 2-, 16. 9- and20. 5-fold increase of lycopene production, respectively. In addition, three effective genes, tHMG1, BTS1-ERG20 and SaGGPS, were integrated into rDNA sites of ZD-L-000, resulting in strain ZD-L-201 for production of 13.23 mg · L(-1) lycopene, which was 77-fold higher than that of the parent strain. Finally, two-phase extractive fermentation was performed. The titer of lycopene increased 10-fold to 135.21 mg · L(-1). The engineered yeast strains obtained in this work provided the basis for fermentative production of lycopene.

Abstract:Agriculture provides food to all the human beings even in case of rapid increase in the population. It is recommended to predict the plant diseases at their early stage in the field of agriculture is essential to cater the food to the overall population. But it unfortunate to predict the diseases at the early stage of the crops. The idea behind the paper is to bring awareness amongst the farmers about the cutting-edge technologies to reduces diseases in plant leaf. Since tomato is merely available vegetable, the approaches of machine learning and image processing with an accurate algorithm is identified to detect the leaf diseases in the tomato plant. In this investigation, the samples of tomato leaves having disorders are considered. With these disorder samples of tomato leaves, the farmers will easily find the diseases based on the early symptoms. Firstly, the samples of tomato leaves are resized to 256 × 256 pixels and then Histogram Equalization is used to improve the quality of tomato samples. The K-means clustering is introduced for partitioning of dataspace into Voronoi cells. The boundary of leaf samples is extracted using contour tracing. The multiple descriptors viz., Discrete Wavelet Transform, Principal Component Analysis and Grey Level Co-occurrence Matrix are used to extract the informative features of the leaf samples. Finally, the extracted features are classified using machine learning approaches such as Support Vector Machine (SVM), Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) and K-Nearest Neighbor (K-NN). The accuracy of the proposed model is tested using SVM (88%), K-NN (97%) and CNN (99.6%) on tomato disordered samples.

Abstract:Plant diseases significantly impact agricultural productivity, resulting in economic losses and food insecurity. Prompt and accurate detection is crucial for the efficient management and mitigation of plant diseases. This study investigates advanced techniques in plant disease detection, emphasizing the integration of image processing, machine learning, deep learning methods, and mobile technologies. High-resolution images of plant leaves were captured and analyzed using convolutional neural networks (CNNs) to detect symptoms of various diseases, such as blight, mildew, and rust. This study explores 14 classes of plants and diagnoses 26 unique plant diseases. We focus on common diseases affecting various crops. The model was trained on a diverse dataset encompassing multiple crops and disease types, achieving 98.14% accuracy in disease diagnosis. Finally integrated this model into mobile apps for real-time disease diagnosis.

Abstract:With limited retrieval of reserves and restricted capability in plant pathology, automation of processes becomes essential. All over the world, farmers are struggling to prevent various harm from bacteria or pathogens such as viruses, fungi, worms, protozoa, and insects. Deep learning is currently widely used across a wide range of applications, including desktop, web, and mobile. In this study, the authors attempt to implement the function of AlexNet modification architecture-based CNN on the Android platform to predict tomato diseases based on leaf image. A dataset with of 18,345 training data and 4,585 testing data was used to create the predictive model. The information is separated into ten labels for tomato leaf diseases, each with 64 × 64 RGB pixels. The best model using the Adam optimizer with a realizing rate of 0.0005, the number of epochs 75, batch size 128, and an uncompromising cross-entropy loss function, has a high model accuracy with an average of 98%, a strictness rate of 0.98, a recall value of 0.99, and an F1-count of 0.98 with a loss of 0.1331, so that the classification results are good and very precise.

Abstract:Several studies have invested in machine learning classifiers to protect plants from diseases by processing leaf images. Most of the proposed classifiers are trained and evaluated with small datasets, focusing on the extraction of hand-crafted features from image to classify the leaves. In this study, we have used a large dataset compared to the state-of-the art. Here, the dataset contains 14,828 images of tomato leaves infected with nine diseases. To train our classifier, we have introduced the Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) as a learning algorithm. One of the biggest advantages of CNN is the automatic extraction of features by processing directly the raw images. To analyze the proposed deep model, we have used visualization methods to understand symptoms and to localize disease regions in leaf. The obtained results are encouraging, reaching 99.18% of accuracy, which ourperforms dramatically shallow models, and they can be used as a practical tool for farmers to protect tomato against disease.
