Abstract:The emergence of the Chinese online marketplace has stimulated the increasing popularity of recommender systems among websites as a tool that assists consumers to reduce information overload. This study proposes a framework that employs a user-cantered approach to evaluate the impact of recommender systems on unplanned purchase behaviours of Chinese consumers in e-commerce. Multi-item scales are adopted from the literature and used to measure five constructs, namely, perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness, shopping enjoyment, consumer satisfaction, and unplanned purchase behaviour. The final samples comprised 281 usable Chinese respondents in both gender groups via online survey. Structural equation modelling technique is employed to test all hypotheses. Results show that perceived usefulness plays a leading role in influencing impulse buying. Apart from having a direct and positive effect on unplanned purchase behaviours, perceived usefulness indirectly contributes to impulse buying by affecting consumer satisfaction, which is also essential to promoting unplanned purchases.

Abstract:This study examines the evolving dynamics of online shopping behavior in the post-COVID-19 era, focusing on the intricate relationship between perceived usefulness, ease of use, pleasure, arousal, dominance emotional state, and intention to repurchase by integrating and employing the technology acceptance model and pleasure, arousal, and dominance emotional model. These emotional states, identified as pivotal drivers of online shopping behavior, contribute to recognizing a brand's function and aesthetic features. Five hundred and nine male and female respondents from Saudi Arabia participated in the present study. The statistical tools unveil significant indirect relationships and mediation effects, offering insights into the nuanced pathways through which perceived usefulness and ease of use impact consumer intentions to repurchase. Demographic variables, particularly age, and gender, are explored to understand variations in emotional responses, guiding businesses in tailoring marketing strategies to diverse consumer segments. Practical implications highlight the importance of strategic considerations for brand retailers, emphasizing enhancements to elements related to emotional branding, product presentations, interface design, and interactive services on websites. The research advocates for a dynamic and personalized approach to online experiences, positioning brands favorably in the competitive digital landscape. Abstract:The COVID-19 pandemic has given rise to unprecedented transformations in consumer behaviour. Less is known about how consumers react to privacy stress while being compelled to continuously purchase online during the pandemic. Therefore, underpinned by the stimulus-organism-response (SOR) theory, this paper aims to examine the impacts of perceived Internet risk, self-efficacy, privacy stress, and trust on consumers' continuous purchasing intention in China. Few studies have examined the mediating roles of privacy stress and brand trust in continuous purchasing intention. This research thus adds value by exploring the underlying mechanisms that explain how these factors affect purchasing intention where consumers have little choice but to make purchase online continuously. It employs a quantitative research design and uses a survey questionnaire to collect data. A total of 535 consumers responded and the data were analysed via PLS-SEM. We found mixed results for the direct and indirect paths. Perceived Internet risk, platform trust, and self-efficacy showed significant impacts on privacy stress and brand trust. While brand trust had a significant impact on continuous online purchase intention, contrary to previous literature, privacy stress did not. Moreover, while brand trust was found to be a significant mediator, privacy stress exerted no mediating effect. The results assist marketing practitioners, organizations, and policymakers in improving consumers' online shopping experience in uncertain times by addressing the issues of trust and privacy. Specifically, we provide the foundation for future policies and strategies that build consumers' trust and secure consumers' privacy, especially in highly uncertain contexts.

Abstract:With the recent development of B2C global e-commerce and the development of IT technology, global e-commerce platforms have emerged. Through this, the development of the cross-border trade environment was promoted, and opportunities for corporate globalization in the production and sales of products and services were rapidly increased. This study was theoretically based on S-O-R (stimulus-organism-response). Here, the purchasing experience involved in using B2C e-commerce is looked at from three perspectives: convenience experience, product quality experience, and logistics service experience. The subjects of this study are consumers in Shandong, China who have experience using Alibaba, Jingdong and in order to collect appropriate data, the 山东省电子商务协会, 山东省跨境电子商务协会, 山东省电子商务促进会, 山东省电商研究中心 were mainly referred to. For the empirical analysis of this study, descriptive statistical analysis and hierarchical regression analysis were performed through SPSS 26.0 statistics. As a result of the analysis, it is possible to verify the significant effect of purchase experience on repurchase intention through customer satisfaction when purchasing products on a B2C global platform.

Abstract:The explosion of the global disaster and the ongoing e-shopping improvements have fueled China’s fast growth in the live shopping industry. This new business paradigm enables merchants to communicate with consumers in a direct way. The goal of this study, which is based on the SOR theory, is to explore critical variables of consumers’ emotional attachment, along with their influence on consumer impulsive buying response within the live streaming scenario. The link between impulse buying behaviour and emotional attachment, moderated by trust, is also examined. A total of 154 usable surveys with “Oriental Selection” purchasing experience are collected. This research uses correlation analysis, ANOVA, and regression analysis to analyse the data. After empirical investigation, the results confirm that content-based sales approach and attractiveness have a significant impact on users’ emotional attachment, which in turn positively affects impulse buying. However, trust is not significantly related to impulse buying behaviour. The research also demonstrates that trust acts as a moderator in the relation between emotional attachment and online impulsive purchasing. Based on the analysis, managerial implications such as providing consumers with eye-opening experiences and adding more entertainment activities are proposed.

Abstract:The rapid progress of technology has dramatically transformed daily life, with the widespread impact of network and internet communication technologies. Live commerce has been a favored shopping method among Chinese customers, seeing increased popularity. During the worldwide COVID-19 outbreak, customers have been actively participating in socializing and shopping using live commerce platforms due to their worries about safety and convenience. Although there is current research on consumer anxiety, there is still a significant vacuum in our understanding of how anxiety specifically affects the desire to make purchases among consumers of live commerce during the pandemic. This study explores the complex dynamics by evaluating how consumer fear caused by COVID-19 affects the willingness to make purchases in the live commerce industry. Our research examines the complex relationships involved in using parasocial interaction and social presence as explanatory frameworks. The results, derived from data gathered from 545 Chinese individuals in January 2022, emphasize the notable influence of consumer concern on the desire to make purchases in live commerce. Parasocial interaction and social presence are identified as crucial mediators, providing insight into the mechanisms by which anxiety influences consumer behavior. Brand familiarity significantly reduces the impact of parasocial interaction and social presence on purchase intention. This study provides a theoretical framework and aligns with the ideals of the information economy. It offers practical insights for live commerce platforms and merchants dealing with the intricacies of consumer behavior during the ongoing pandemic.

Abstract:The year 2019 witnessed an exponential growth of the e-commerce live streaming industry. Notably, competitions among live streamers have become increasingly fierce as more newcomers are marching in. To survive and thrive in the cut-throat market competitions, it is key for them to increase consumers’ repeat purchase rate and win customer loyalty. This study uses empirical research methods to probe into the influence of e-commerce live streaming on consumer repurchase intentions. According to this study, perceived entertainment and perceived similarity have a positive impact on consumer repurchase intentions, and this relationship is partially mediated by consumer satisfaction. In addition, perceived product quality, perceived interactivity, and perceived professionalism have a positive and indirect effect on consumer repurchase intentions, and this relationship is fully mediated by consumer satisfaction.

Abstract:The popularity of social media, such as WeChat and Weibo in China, has provided an opportunity to develop social commerce. Although shopping through social commerce platforms is widely favored by consumers, the factors affecting consumers' decision-making behavior in the social commerce environment remain unclear. Therefore, from the perspective of the stimulus-organism-response (SOR) theory, we construct a consumer repurchase decision model in the social commerce environment and analyze the influencing mechanism of social commerce features (interactivity, recommendations, and feedback) on perceived value (utilitarian value and hedonic value) and consumers' repurchase intention. The empirical results found that social commerce features are positively related to the generation of perceived value, which in turn drives consumers to form repurchase intentions. We also found some mediating effects of perceived value. The study's conclusions clarify the intrinsic influence mechanism of social commerce features on consumers' perceived value and repurchase intentions. In addition, it can provide some theoretical guidance for future research and business.

Abstract:Purpose E-commerce expands product and service reach, emphasizing the need for strategic market approaches to enhance e-service quality and drive sales growth. This paper aims to assess the relationship between the perceived quality of e-commerce platforms (characterized by measures of order and return convenience), customer satisfaction with online shopping and repurchase intention from online stores as well as examine whether demographic variables such as age, gender and area of residency (urban/rural) influence the ratings of each of these variables. Design/methodology/approach An online, self-administered survey gathered 108 valid responses from e-commerce customers. Data were analyzed in Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) and Analysis of Moment Structures (AMOS) through principal component analysis, confirmatory factor analysis and structural equation modeling (SEM) as well as correlation, descriptive statistics, difference of means tests and nonlinear regression. Findings Online shopping on e-commerce platforms is seen as convenient for both placing orders and managing returns. Additionally, consumers express satisfaction with their online shopping experiences and exhibit a strong intention to repurchase. The analysis revealed linear relationships between order convenience and customer satisfaction, between order convenience and repurchase intention and nonlinear relationships between return convenience, customer satisfaction and repurchase intention. No significant difference was found between the way the demographic variables rated the convenience, satisfaction and repurchase intention constructs. Originality/value This study contributes to the empirical literature on service quality in e-commerce by providing a streamlined model of the interactions among the factors as well as by isolating the nonlinear relationships and comparing results across three demographic variables. From a managerial standpoint, the findings suggest that strategies aimed at providing complete qualitative information and enhancing order and return convenience improve customer satisfaction and foster repurchase intention.
The influence of brand personality on brand love, perceived quality and purchase intention: a study of e-retailing sites

Abstract:Purpose This study aims to understand how brand personality affects purchase intention through brand love and perceived quality in e-commerce. Design/methodology/approach Three hundred forty-eight users of e-commerce sites in New Delhi, India, were surveyed for the study. The data set was examined using confirmatory factor analysis, and the research hypotheses were assessed using structural equation modeling. Findings Two important conclusions emerged from the study. First, brand love and perceived quality have been considerably and favorably influenced by all six dimensions of brand personality of e-commerce brands. Second, the purchase intention toward the e-commerce sites is significantly and positively impacted by brand love and perceived quality. Practical implications This study by exploring various dimensions of brand personality, will assist e-commerce executives in increasing purchase intention toward the e-retailing sites. Originality/value This research is supposed to be the foremost to look at how brand personality, through brand love and perceived quality affects purchase intention toward e-commerce websites. The attachment theory is used in this study as a theoretical foundation for linking e-commerce brand personality to customers’ purchase intentions via brand love and perceived quality.
Love Is Blind! Exploring the Impact of Brand Love on eWOM in Chinese Hospitality Industry

Abstract:The rising penetration and value of online information reviews in the hospitality industry have been extensively examined. People are increasingly interacting on interactive online media, prompting firms to create online communities to share electronic word-of-mouth (eWOM) with them and with one another in order to increase brand love. This study seeks to discover what drives consumers to participate in these online brand communities. To examine the research model, an online survey was conducted on 508 consumers who had shared eWOM on social networking sites (SNS). Structural equation modeling (SEM) was employed to test all hypotheses. The findings show that each of the variables has a high impact on brand love, with information quality and virtual interaction having the most significant impact. As a result of brand love, eWOM is significantly increased. Additionally, findings show that the gender gap in the online setting is increasing, as the influence of all characteristics then reward of online brand communities on brand love was adaptable among both male and female associates. Considering the effects of online features (information quality, system quality, virtual interaction, and reward) on online brand communities' impact on brand love and eWOM. Online hotels manager is advised to carefully develop their marketing strategies to retain and attract new consumers. Furthermore, online hotels manager can use the findings from this study to understand the consequences when eWOM is strongly influenced by online brand communities' features. This study is one of the first to illustrate and empirically confirm insight into how online features affect brand lovers in online brand communities. The study adds to the body of knowledge concerning the effectiveness of social media marketing in the Chinese hotel sector.

Abstract:In the context of the continuous development of Internet technology and international logistics, the impact of cross-border e-commerce is expanding. Cross-border e-commerce transactions are characterized by a wide variety of products, low prices, and short procurement times. As a result, consumers are increasingly intention to shop on cross-border e-commerce platforms. The number of consumers placing orders is also increasing. Simultaneously, consumer perception, trust and attitude play crucial roles in influencing consumers' shopping behavior on cross-border e-commerce platforms. This study employs structural equation and intermediary effect analysis to explore the mechanism through which various factors influence consumers' purchase intention. The authors examine the relationship between five components: consumer perception, trust, attitude, and purchase intention. The findings reveal the following: (1) The improvement of consumers' perceived value and subjective display intention positively influences their purchase intention. Conversely, a decrease in these factors hampers consumers' intention to buy. (2) When the level of shopping risk increases, consumers' purchase intention tends to decrease. Conversely, when the risk of shopping is reduced, consumers' intention to buy shows an increase. (3) Consumer trust and attitude play a significant mediating role in the relationship between independent variables and dependent variables. This study lays an important theoretical foundation for future research in this field. It expands the application scenarios of related research methods. Additionally, the conclusions of this study provide valuable references for managers of cross-border e-commerce enterprises in making informed management decisions.

Abstract:Purpose This research study investigates the factors that influence e-customer satisfaction, e-trust, perceived value and consumers repurchase intention in the context of the B2C e-commerce segment. It investigates the mediation effect of e-customer satisfaction, e-trust and perceived value on repurchase intention. It also examines the moderating role of prior online experience. Design/methodology/approach Based on the adapted questionnaire, pre-recruited enumerators collected the data from five leading business universities of Karachi. They distributed 425 questionnaires and received 415 questionnaires. The study has used Partial Least Square-Structure Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) technique for data analysis. Findings We have tested 20 hypotheses, of which our results do not support five, including two direct, two mediating. Our results support all the direct hypotheses except the following two: (1) delivery service affects e-satisfaction (2) customer services quality effect on trust. We did not find support for the following two mediating hypotheses (1) e-satisfaction mediates delivery services and repurchase intention, (2) service quality mediates customers' service quality and repurchase intention. Our results do not support one moderating relationship. Prior online experience moderates e-perceived value and repurchase intention. Research limitations/implications This research provides valuable information to the online retailers of B2C e-commerce, which can help them make strategies based on their consumers' behavior and encourage them to make repeat purchases from online retailing stores. It allows future researchers to replicate the model in cross-cultural studies in different product categories. Originality/value We have examined the moderating effect of prior online experience between (e-satisfaction, e-trust and perceived value) on the repurchase intention.

Abstract:The global coronavirus pandemic has reignited a strategic debate among the business community of the necessity for corporate social responsibility (CSR) engagement in the ever-dynamic social media. Considering the global economic downturn introduced by the COVID-19 pandemic, the present research is devoted to investigating whether CSR engagement in social media can help DiDi (a Chinese shared brand) at stake survive this overwhelming crisis. A theoretical model proposed to describe the hypothesized relationships was tested by a Structural Equation Modeling technique through the empirical online questionnaire. Through findings, we demonstrated that there was a positive relationship between CSR engagement of DiDi on WeChat, customer–company identification (C–C identification), and behavioral intention [purchase intention, brand loyalty, and e-word-of-mouth (eWOM)] of customers. With attention to psychological influence, our empirical statistics also evidenced the mediating role of C-C identification between CSR engagement and behavioral intention of customers. This study highlights the significant role of CSR engagement in a critical period theoretically and offers businesses more open innovation strategies to compete against the COVID-19 pandemic-induced market downturn.

Abstract:The emergence of new technologies has had a noteworthy impact on communication systems, leading to the importance of conducting research in this area due to the significant influence of social media. Marketing operators must implement the necessary infrastructure to identify and fulfill customers' expectations, considering the advantages and the increasing number of users in social networks. This paper presents a comprehensive framework for evaluating the purchase intention of electronic commerce systems, taking into account the impact of social media advertising and customer loyalty. The paper aims to enhance purchase intention in e-commerce through social media advertising and examine influential factors that improve online shopping performance, including social media advertising's effectiveness on customer purchase behavior and brand loyalty. The paper develops a theoretical framework of nine hypotheses to evaluate purchase intention in e-commerce systems, with a focus on the effect of social media advertising on brand loyalty and purchase intention. To validate the proposed model and test the research hypotheses, we make use of information obtained from an international company located in China. The results demonstrate the positive effect of pleasurable motivation on purchase intention, with a significance level of 3.776 and a path coefficient of 0.279. Moreover, an investigation of the positive effect of customer loyalty on the recommended advertisement confirms the hypotheses, with a significance of 32.815 and a path coefficient of 0.788.

Abstract:Nowadays, as a new commercial format, cross-border e-commerce has rapidly developed with China's policy support and consumption upgrade. With the advantages of “Belt and Road” strategy, China's cross-border e-commerce industry will confront more opportunities, while facing more fierce competition. Under this background, how to increase usage frequency as well as repurchase intention of customers, has become a significant and emergent problem for Chinese cross-border e-commerce platform companies. This paper defines the dimension of platform quality from the perspective of customer perception, which mainly focuses on the three aspects: system quality, information quality and service quality. Based on the theory of Stimulate-Organism-Response theory, this research takes cross-border e-commerce platform quality as independent variable, customer trust as the mediating variable and cross-buying intention as dependent variable. This paper also divides cross-buying intentions into three types, including point cross-buying intention, line cross-buying intention, and plane cross-buying intention. The authors conduct a survey in the form of questionnaire and the research model is tested by a sample of 235 online customers. The empirical results show that: (1)The three dimensions of platform quality all have positive effect on customer trust. (2) System quality and service quality have direct and positive effect on cross-buying intention. (3)Customer trust have positive effect on the cross-buying intention.(4)Customer trust has mediating effect between the three dimensions of platform quality and cross-buying intention.

Abstract:With the continuous development of network has also greatly developed, exploring the role of social network relationships and attachment emotions on consumer intention helps community managers to promote community purchases for more consumer. As another core component of social e-commerce, social media influencer also has a significant influence on consumer intention. This study systematically analyzed the effects of social network relationships and social media influencer characteristics on consumer purchase intentions. Introduced consumer attachment and perceived value as mediating variables to construct the research framework of this study. This article adopts quantitative analysis methods to test the research hypotheses proposed. This article collected 600 first-hand data in the form of a survey questionnaire and analyzed the data using AMOS and SPSS statistical software. The empirical analysis in this article confirms that social network relationships has a significant impact on consumer purchase intentions; social media influencer characteristics has a significant impact on consumer purchase intentions; consumer attachment has a significant impact on perceived value; consumer attachment plays a mediating role in the effect of social network relationships on consumers purchase intentions; perceived value plays no mediating role in the effect of social media influencer characteristics on consumer purchase intentions; perceived value plays a mediating role in the effect of consumer attachment on consumer purchase intentions; consumer attachment and perceived value have a chain mediating role between social network relationships and consumer purchase intentions.

Abstract:Online shopping or purchasing is a human activity where people buy goods, products, or services through the Internet. In this time, individuals are increasingly transitioning to online shopping or purchasing alongside the development of different websites (Tsai, Janice, & Egelman, 2001) . The objective of this research is to explore the characteristics of online purchasing behaviors, factors affecting these behaviors, and the extent of the impact of these factors in JD.com, which is one of China’s biggest and largest online purchasing platforms (JD.com, n.d.) . The respondents of this research were individuals who are customers of JD.com or individuals who have the experiences or intention of purchasing on the same platform. The qualitative analysis of this research reveals that four characteristics of online purchasing behavior in the case of JD.com are present. First, the customers of online purchasing in JD.com pay more attention to the quality of the goods. Second, the price is the most important factor. The results of the multiple linear regression model and principal component analysis show that there are three indirect factors of online purchasing behaviors. These are the affect factors, social factors, and perceived risk factors. These three factors influence online purchasing behaviors through influencing online purchasing intention. Moreover, there are also three direct factors of online purchasing behaviors. These are the habits, facilitating conditions, and online purchasing intentions. Further, results show that the influences of all six factors are significant. In conclusion, JD.com and other online shopping platforms can use the result of this research and pay attention to the six factors affecting online purchasing behaviors to improve a company’s services and increase the number of its customers.

Abstract:The intense competition among fresh food e-commerce platforms in China has reduced the market share of the leading firms. This study aims to establish a model framework based on brand knowledge, perceived value, brand trust, and purchase intention to improve the market competitiveness of fresh food e-commerce platforms. Based on the analysis of 475 questionnaires using SmartPLS software, the results indicate that the established model framework provides an excellent explanation and forecasting (R2 = 45.5%) for consumers’ intentions to purchase fresh food. The path analysis results of this study show that there are significant positive effects among the model variables. Among antecedent variables, brand image has the greatest influence on perceived value, perceived value has the greatest influence on brand trust, and brand trust has the most significant impact on purchase intention. Furthermore, perceived value and brand trust have noteworthy mediating and serial mediating effects on brand knowledge and purchase intention. These findings have important implications for theoretical and managerial practices in the context of fresh food e-commerce platforms, providing insights on how to enhance customer purchase intentions.

Abstract:The coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic has impacted and changed consumer behavior because of a prolonged quarantine and lockdown. This study proposed a theoretical framework to explore and define the influencing factors of online consumer purchasing behavior (OCPB) based on electronic word-of-mouth (e-WOM) data mining and analysis. Data pertaining to e-WOM were crawled from smartphone product reviews from the two most popular online shopping platforms in China, Jingdong.com and Taobao.com. Data processing aimed to filter noise and translate unstructured data from complex text reviews into structured data. The machine learning based K-means clustering method was utilized to cluster the influencing factors of OCPB. Comparing the clustering results and Kotler's five products level, the influencing factors of OCPB were clustered around four categories: perceived emergency context, product, innovation, and function attributes. This study contributes to OCPB research by data mining and analysis that can adequately identify the influencing factors based on e-WOM. The definition and explanation of these categories may have important implications for both OCPB and e-commerce.
