Abstract:Cyclocarya paliurus (C. paliurus), a nutritional and nutraceutical resource for human and animal diets, has been constantly explored. The available biological components of C. paliurus were triterpenoids, polysaccharides, and flavonoids. Recent studies in phytochemical and pharmacological have shown that C. paliurus performed medicinal value, such as antihypertensive, antioxidant, anticancer, antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory and immunological activities. Furthermore, C. paliurus and its extracts added to drinks would help to prevent and mitigate chronic diseases. This review provides an overview of the nutritional composition and functional applications of C. paliurus, summarizing the research progress on the extraction methods, structural characteristics, and biological activities. Therefore, it may be a promising candidate for developing functional ingredients in traditional Chinese medicine. However, more than understanding its active compounds and the mechanisms through which they perform biological activities is required. As a result, the plant needs further investigation in vitro and in vivo.

Cyclic AMP-dependent histone-specific nucleoplasmic protein kinase from rat liver.

Abstract:A nucleoplasmic histone kinase activity was isolated from livers of adult rats and purified 39-fold compared with whole nuclei by ultracentrifugation of the nuclear extract and Sephadex G-200 gel filtration in the presence of cyclic AMP. Analysis by polyacrylamide-gel electrophoresis as well as by gel filtration indicates a mol.wt. of approx. 60,000 for the catalytic subunit and 130000-150000 for the cyclic AMP-binding activity. The purified enzyme displays a 20-fold greater preference for histone fractions 1 and 2b than for any non-histone substrate, including alpha-casein. Endogenous protein in the preparation is not appreciably phosphorylated. The unfractioned enzyme is stimulated significantly by cyclic GMP, cyclic IMP and dibutyryl cyclic AMP as well as by cyclic AMP. The catalytic reaction requires Mg2+ (Km 1.9mM) and ATP (Km 15.4 micron). Half-maximal activity of the enzyme is observed with histone 2b at 12micron and histone 1 at a higher substrate concentration. The pH optima are 6.1 and 6.5 with histones 2b and 1 respectively. This nuclear protein kinase appears to be distinct from other nuclear enzymes that have been reported, on the basis of histone specificity, univalent-salt-sensitivity, pH optima and nuclear location. However, the enzyme possesses many properties similar to those of the cytoplasmic kinases, including cyclic AMP-dependence, Mg2+ and ATP affinities and pH optima. It differs from cytoplasmic protein kinase type I, the major form in the liver, with respect to bivalent-cation effects and response to the heat-stable protein kinase inhibitor protein isolated from ox heart.

Abstract:Cyclocarya paliurus is essential and only living specie of the genus Cyclocarya Iljinskaja. The leaves of this plant have been extensively used as food in the form of tea and green vegetable. Many compounds have been isolated from this plant, and their useful aspects explored, including the polysaccharides. Studies conducted on leaves show that different methods of extraction have been used, as well as a combination of different techniques that have been applied to isolate polysaccharides from the leaves. Their structure has been elucidated because the activity of polysaccharides mainly depends upon their composition. It has been reported that different activities exhibited by the isolated crude, purified as well as modified polysaccharides include, anticancer, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antimicrobial, anti-hyperlipidemic and anti-diabetic activities. In some studies, a comparison of crude extract, as well as purified polysaccharide, has been performed. In this review, we have summarized all the available literature available on the methods of extraction, structure, and biological activities of polysaccharides from the leaves of C. paliurus and indicated the potential research areas that should be focused on future studies. We believe that this review will provide an up to date knowledge regarding polysaccharides of C. paliurus for the researchers.
Phytochemical content and antioxidant activity in aqueous extracts of Cyclocarya paliurus leaves collected from different populations

Abstract:Cyclocarya paliurus (Batal) Iljinskaja is a multiple function tree species, but its main utilization is for the harvesting of its leaves as materials for tea production and recently as ingredients for the food industry. In this study aqueous extracts of C. paliurus leaves collected from 21 natural populations were evaluated for their phytochemical content and antioxidant activity. The content of water-soluble polysaccharide, total flavonoid and total polyphenol varied from 66.05 to 153.32 mg/g, 9.01 to 19.65 mg/g and 20.80 to 52.69 mg/g, respectively. Quercetin-3-O-glucuronide, aemferol-3-O-glucuronide and 3-O-caffeoylquinic acid were the major phenolic components in aqueous extracts of C. paliurus leaves. Both redundancy analysis and Pearson's correlation analysis indicated that water-soluble polysaccharide, total polyphenol, total flavonoid, quercetin-3-O-glucuronide, 3-O-caffeoylquinic acid and 4-O-caffeoylquinic acid were significantly correlated with antioxidant activity, but total polyphenol showed the greatest contribution to antioxidant capacity. The antioxidant activity of the 21 populations was classified into six distinct groups based on the squared Euclidean distance. These results would provide a theoretical basis for obtaining the greatest yield of targeted antioxidant phytochemicals of C. paliurus leaves for tea and food ingredient production.

Abstract:Walnut (Juglans regia L.) is rich in bioactive substances and considered to be in high nutritional value. The mostly consumed parts of walnut are the oil and protein, while the rich polyphenols in other parts have been always ignored, such as ellagic tannins and flavonoids. With more and more studies focuses on the health benefits of walnut, the nutritional values of polyphenols from walnut have also been noticed and many researches on the content, biological activity and extraction methods of walnut polyphenols have been reported. However, most of the currently researches just focused on the specific part of walnut (e.g. walnut husk, Diaphragma juglandis fructus, etc.) and lacked a comprehensive review on the constitutes, biofunctions as well as the preparation of walnuts polyphenols from different parts. Thus, the present review summarized the chemical structures as well as the biological activities of various polyphenols from walnuts and particularly different extraction methods were also introduced and hope it will provide some basial but systematic insight for a better utilization of polyphenols from walnuts.

Abstract:As secondary metabolites commonly existent in plants, polyphenols have a variety of special physiological functions such as anti-oxidation, anti-cancer, anti-aging, reducing blood sugar and blood lipid levels, and preventing cardiovascular diseases. Barley ( Hordeum vulgare) has been used as a significant source of natural antioxidants, due to its high contents of phenolic compounds such as catechin and proanthocyanidins . The total polyphenol content in barley can be up to 1200~1500 mg/kg. Based on the documented researches, this article summarized the varieties and contents of barely polyphenols, their extraction and determination methods, as well as the research progress in their application to animal feed, brewing beer and human health.

Abstract:ETHNOPHARMACOLOGICAL RELEVANCE: Cyclocarya paliurus (Batalin) Iljinskaja (C. paliurus) also known as Sweet tea tree, Money tree, Money willow, green money plum, mountain willow and shanhua tree, is a native rare monocotyledonous plant in Southern China. It possesses numerous traditional benefits, including clearing heat, detoxification, producing saliva, slake thirst, anti-inflammatory, insecticidal, dispelling wind and relieving itching. It is also effective in preventing and treating diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, dizziness and swelling and pain, as well as reducing cholesterol, and modulating the functions of the immune system. The stem, leaves and bark of this plant are all medicinal parts, but the leaves have the highest research value.AIM OF THE STUDY: This article summarized the plant's botanical description, distribution, ethnopharmacology, phytochemical profiles and pharmacological for the first time, to provide possible directions for future development and research in brief.MATERIAL AND METHODS: The literature for this current manuscript was obtained from reports published from 1992 to May 2021 in diverse databases such as the China Knowledge Resource Integrated databases (CNKI), SciFinder, Google Scholar, Baidu Scholar, Elsevier and Pub-Med. The domestic and foreign references published about C. paliurus over recent years were collected, analyzed and summarized.RESULTS: The botanical characteristics of the fruits of C. paliurus are unique in having a central nutlet surrounded by a circular wing to distinguish the living genera of Juglandaceae. In traditional medicine, C. paliurus leaves are used by the local people of Southern China to make tea to prevent diabetes. More than 210 compounds have been isolated from C. paliurus. Among them, the characteristic 3,4-seco-dammaranes accounted for the most. Other compounds include dammarane tetracyclic triterpenoids, various pentacyclic triterpenoids, flavonoids, isosclerones, phenolic derivatives and polysaccharides. The plant extracts and compounds have been reported to exert various pharmacological activities, such as anti-hyperglycemic, anti-hyperlipidemic, anti-cancer, cytotoxic, anti-oxidative, anti-inflammatory, hepatoprotective, and anti-microbial activities.CONCLUSIONS: Comprehensive literature analysis shows that C. paliurus extract and its compounds have a variety of biological activities for the treatment of various diseases. The current modern pharmacology research is mostly related to the records of ethnic pharmacology, mainly in vitro research, relatively few in vivo research. Therefore, future studies should focus on this aspect. In addition, we also would like to recommend further research should concentrate on toxicity studies and quality control of C. paliurus to fill the study gap, as well as to provide theoretical support for the further development of the potential functions and clinical applications of the plant.

Abstract:Cancer patients are twice as likely to develop postoperative venous thromboembolism (VTE) than non-cancer patients undergoing the same surgical procedure. Causes of cancer-associated thrombosis include: the capacity of tumor cells and their products to interact with platelets, clotting, and fibrinolytic proteins. Aggressive antitumor therapy with agents such as platinum compounds, high-dose fluorouracil, mitomycin-C, tamoxifen, and growth factors increase the risk of cancer-associated thrombosis. Despite the high risk of VTE in patients with cancer, thromboprophylaxis in surgical and medical oncology patients is low. Initial therapy of VTE in patients with cancer is low-molecular-weight heparin (LMWH) or unfractionated heparin. Long-term secondary prophylaxis of VTE is generally accomplished with oral anticoagulants, primarily warfarin. Evidence supports the use of LMWH for prevention and treatment of cancer-associated thrombosis because it is more easily administered, does not require laboratory monitoring, has a lower risk of adverse events, and is more cost effective than unfractionated heparin. In addition, the antineoplastic effects of LMWH have been demonstrated, including direct antitumor, antiangiogenic, and immune system modulatory action. Each LMWH is a unique biological entity having product-specific molecular and structural attributes; therefore, different LMWHs cannot be given interchangeably. Continued investigation of LMWH therapy in patients with cancer is warranted.
Transcriptome analysis associated with polysaccharide synthesis and their antioxidant activity in Cyclocarya paliurus leaves of different developmental stages

Abstract:Background Cyclocarya paliurus (Batal.) Iljinskaja is a common endemic tree species and used as a Chinese medicine. The main active components in the leaves of this plant are polysaccharides. However, the temporal patterns of gene expression underlying the synthesis of polysaccharides in C. paliurus at different leaf developmental stages and its relationship with the polysaccharide content and antioxidant activities has not been reported to date. Methods RNA-seq was used to investigate the biosynthesis pathway of polysaccharides at the four developmental stages of C. paliurus leaves. The content and the antioxidant activities of polysaccharides were measured with typical biochemical methods and the identified correlations were statistically evaluated. Results Sixty-nine differentially expressed genes were found in the leaves during different developmental stages of C. paliurus . These are associated with glycosyltransferases and belong to 18 families. During different developmental stages of C. paliurus , the polysaccharide content first increased and then decreased, and the UDP-glucose 4-epimerase gene was found to be significantly positively correlated with the polysaccharide content. The clearance rates of DPPH radicals, superoxide anion radicals, hydroxyl radicals, and the reducing power of polysaccharides in the leaves of C. paliurus at different developmental stages showed a dose-dependent relationship with the concentration of polysaccharides. Conclusions The smallest fully expanded leaves are suitable for high-quality tea, and leaves with sizes below the largest fully expanded leaves are suitable for industrial production of polysaccharides.

Abstract:Globally, the incidence of diabetes is increasing annually, and China has the largest number of patients with diabetes. Patients with type 2 diabetes need lifelong medication, with severe cases requiring surgery. Diabetes treatment may cause complications, side-effects, and postoperative sequelae that could lead to adverse health problems and significant social and economic burdens; thus, more efficient hypoglycemic drugs have become a research hotspot. Glucose metabolism disorders can promote diabetes, a systemic metabolic disease that impairs the function of other organs, including the heart, liver, and kidneys. Cyclocarya paliurus leaves have gathered increasing interest among researchers because of their effectiveness in ameliorating glucose metabolism disorders. At present, various compounds have been isolated from C. paliurus, and the main active components include polysaccharides, triterpenes, flavonoids, and phenolic acids. C. paliurus mainly ameliorates glucose metabolism disorders by reducing glucose uptake, regulating blood lipid levels, regulating the insulin signaling pathway, reducing β-cell apoptosis, increasing insulin synthesis and secretion, regulating abundances of intestinal microorganisms, and exhibiting α-glucosidase inhibitor activity. In this paper, the mechanism of glucose metabolism regulation by C. paliurus was reviewed to provide a reference to prevent and treat diabetes, hyperlipidaemia, obesity, and other metabolic diseases.

Abstract:Flavonoids are a class of commonly occurring natural compounds in the plant kingdom with various biological activities. This study compares the content of flavonoids in Cyclocarya paliurus at different developmental stages to better inform the selection of the optimal picking period. Thus, we analyzed the transcriptome and metabolome of C. paliurus at different developmental stages. The transcriptome analysis revealed 44 genes involved in the biosynthesis of flavonoids in C. paliurus, with 10 differentially expressed genes across the four different developmental stages. The metabolites were separated and identified by a combination of chromatography and mass spectrometry, followed by multi-reaction monitoring mode analysis of triple quadrupole mass spectrometry for complete metabolite quantification. In the flavonoid synthesis pathway, a total of 137 differential flavonoids were detected. The joint transcriptome and metabolome analysis showed that the expression trends in differential metabolites and genes were significantly related. Four MYB transcription factors and two bHLH transcription factors that are closely related to flavonoid biosynthesis were identified. The regulation network of flavonoid biosynthesis in C. paliurus was thus established, providing guidance for follow-up research.This article has not yet been cited by other publications.

Abstract:Cistanche deserticola Y. C. Ma (CD), is mainly distributed in the regions of China (Xinjiang, Inner Mongolia, Gansu), Mongolia, Iran and India. Cistanche deserticola polysaccharide (CDPs), as one of the main components and a crucial bioactive substance of CD, has a variety of pharmacological activities, including immunomodulatory, anti-aging, anti-oxidant, hepatoprotective, anti-osteoporotic, anti-inflammatory, intestinal flora regulatory effects. Many polysaccharides have been successfully obtained in the last three decades from CD. However, there is currently no comprehensive review available concerning CDPs. Considering the importance of CDPs for biological study and drug discovery, the present review aims to systematically summarize the recent major studies on extraction and purification methods of polysaccharides from CD, as well as the characterization of their chemical structure, biological activity, structure-activity relationship, and the application of CDPs in pharmaceutical field. Meanwhile, the shortcomings of CDPs research are further discussed in detail, and new valuable insights for future CDPs research as therapeutic agents and functional foods are proposed.
The Physiochemical Characteristics of Cyclocarya Paliurus Polysaccharides and in Vitro Anti-Diabetic Effects of Their Different Fractions

Abstract:To efficiently develop and utilize Cyclocarya paliurus polysaccharides, we determined the physicochemical properties and evaluated the in vitro anti-diabetic effects of C. paliurus using different fractions of their polysaccharides. The C. paliurus polysaccharides powder had the characteristic physiochemical reaction of polysaccharides with low fluidity. The IC50 value of the alpha-glucosidase inhibitory activity of C. paliurus polysaccharide fraction 4 was 14.05 +/- 0.13 mu g/mL. At 100 mu g/mL, both C. paliurus polysaccharide fractions 1 and 6 depicted no toxicity to pancreatic beta-cells. Moreover, fraction 1 recovered the insulin mRNA expression level of beta-TC6 cells treated using high glucose. C. paliurus polysaccharide fractions 1, 2, and 6 significantly enhanced insulin secretion from pancreatic beta-cells. All the components of C. paliurus polysaccharides promoted 2-NBDG uptake using hepatocytes HepG2. The C. paliurus polysaccharide fraction 1 depicted the highest application potential in diabetes mellitus treatment due to its low toxicity, high insulin production, and strong protection against apoptosis. Further studies should focus on the sugar composition of C. paliurus polysaccharide fractions 1 and 6 and the mechanisms underlying their molecular effect while treating type 2 diabetes mellitus.
Antihyperglycemic, antihyperlipidemic and antioxidant effects of ethanol and aqueous extracts of Cyclocarya paliurus leaves in type 2 diabetic rats

Abstract:Ethnopharmacological relevance: Cyclocarya paliurus (CP) Batal., the sole species in its genus and native to China, is a herbal tea, which has been traditionally used in the folk medicine for the treatment of diabetes and hyperlipidemia in China. To evaluate the antihyperglycemic, antihyperlipidemic and antioxidant effects of ethanol and aqueous extracts from CP in high fat diet (HFD) and streptozotocin (STZ) induced diabetic rats. Materials and methods: Type 2 diabetes was induced in 140 rats by feeding with HFD and high sugar water for 6 weeks and single injection of STZ (30mg/kg, intraperitoneally). CP ethanol extract (CPEE) and aqueous extract (CPAE) at three doses at 2, 4 and 8 g/kg/day were orally administered once daily for four weeks. Blood glucose, serum insulin, oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT), insulin tolerance test (ITT), free fatty acid (FFA), total cholesterol (TC), triglyceride (TG), low density lipoprotein-cholesterol (LDL-C), high density lipoprotein-cholesterol (HDL-C), malondialdehyde (MDA), superoxide dismutase (SOD), glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px), blood urea nitrogen (BUN), creatinine (CREA) and glycated serum protein (GSP) were examined. The content of total flavonoids and polysaccharides in CPEE and CPAE were assayed by ultraviolet spectrophotometry. Results: Both CPEE and CPAE increased OGTT, ITT, HDL-C, SOD and GSH-Px, while they decreased FFA, TC, TG, LDL-C, MDA, BUN, CREA and GSP. The amount of total flavonoids was found in CPEE (30.41 mg/g extract), followed by CPAE (6.75 mg/g extract). Similarly, the polysaccharides content (4.13 mg/g extract) was observed in CPAE, while absent in CPEE. Conclusions: The results suggested that CPEE and CPAE exhibited the similar antihyperglycemic, antihyperlipidemic and antioxidant effects in type 2 diabetic rats, and there were no significant differences between these two extracts.

Abstract:Cyclocarya paliurus, a Chinese herbal medicine and new food resource, contains a triterpenic-acid-rich extract that demonstrated ameliorative effect on diabetic nephropathy (DN). A more in-depth discovery of functional components led to the isolation of seven new triterpenoids including two pentacyclic triterpenes, 1α,2α,3β,23-tetrahydroxyolean-12-en-28-oic acid and 2α,3β,22α-tirhydroxyurs-12-en-28-oic acid 28-O-β-D-glucopyranoside, and five tetracyclic triterpenoid glycosides (cypaliurusides N-R), together with twelve known compounds from the leaves of C. paliurus. Their structures were determined using a comprehensive analysis of chemical and spectroscopic data. Partial compounds were assessed for anti-fibrotic activities in high-glucose and TGF-β1 induced HK-2 cells. Compound 16 remarkably decreased the level of fibronectin with an inhibition rate of 37.1%. Furthermore, 16 effectively alleviated the epithelial-mesenchymal transformation (EMT) process by upregulating E-cadherin expression and downregulating α-SMA expression, and it significantly decreased the level of the transcriptional inhibitors (Snail and Twist) of E-cadherin. The discovery of anti-fibrotic compounds from C. paliurus provides the potential utilization and functional candidates for the DN prevention.

Abstract:Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is a common chronic metabolic disease that has become increasingly prevalent worldwide. It poses a serious threat to human health and places a considerable burden on global social medical work. To meet the increasing demand for T2DM treatment, research on hypoglycemic drugs is rapidly developing. Cyclocarya paliurus (Batal.) Iljinskaja is a medicinal plant that grows in China. The leaves of C. paliurus contain polysaccharides, triterpenoids, and other chemical components, which have numerous health benefits. Therefore, the use of this plant has attracted extensive attention in the medical community. Over the past few decades, contemporary pharmacological studies on C. paliurus extracts have revealed that it has abundant biological activities. Multiple in vitro and in vivo experiments have shown that C. paliurus extracts are safe and can play a therapeutic role in T2DM through anti-inflammatory and antioxidation activities, and intestinal flora regulation. Its efficacy is closely related to many factors, such as extraction, separation, purification, and modification. Based on summarizing the existing extraction methods, this article further reviews the potential mechanism of C. paliurus extracts in T2DM treatment, and we aimed to provide a reference for future research on natural plant medicine for the prevention and treatment of T2DM and its related complications.

Abstract:Tremendous attentions have been attracted to the foods labeled with natural, green, organic, and nuisanceless conception of healthy diet. Therefore, it is of great significance to establish relative defining guidance for safe assessment of botanicals. Cyclocarya paliurus (Batal.) Iljinsk (family Cyclocaryaceae), called sweet tea tree, is a well-known edible and medicinal plant, which has been widely used in China as drug formulation for the treatment of hypertension and diabetes. Despite its benefits, no reports have been described on the safe assessment of C. paliurus leaves aqueous extract. In this study, we have conducted the genotoxicity assay (including Ames test, bone marrow polychromatic erythrocyte micronucleus test, and sperm abnormality test in mice) and traditional teratogenicity assay in rats (maternal toxicity, embryo toxicity, and teratogenicity test) to assess the genetic and teratogenic safety of aqueous extracts from C. paliurus leaves. Results of each assay show that the highest dose of C. paliurus leaves aqueous extract is considered relatively nonmutagenic and nonteratogenic, revealing that C. paliurus leaves possess safety and quality as a functional additional ingredient in food.

Abstract:Cyclocarya paliurus (Batal) Iljinskaja is mainly used for harvesting leaves as materials for tea production and ingredients for the food industry. As its most important component, the contents of its total or specific flavonoids are supposed to vary at different ploidy levels. In the present study, two ploidy levels of C. paliurus are used to study their metabolome and transcriptome profiles. Though the total content of the flavonoids in leaves that were collected in September (the main harvesting season) presented insignificant differences between the two ploidies, flavonoid glucuronides were significantly accumulated in the tetraploid C. paliurus. Several structural genes related to the biosynthesis of these flavonoid glucuronides were expressed differentially, including PAL, 4CL, CHS, and CpUGTs. A weighted gene co-expression network analysis (WGCNA) revealed that nine genes were highly correlated with the flavonoid glucuronide contents. Furthermore, 3 CpMYB39 and 3 CpUGT71 were highly associated with this accumulation of flavonoid glucuronides in tetraploid C. paliurus. These results can provide a new perspective on how different polyploid levels alter the quantitative and qualitative patterns of the secondary metabolite production in C. paliurus.

Abstract:Cyclocarya paliurus tea, also known as "sweet tea", an herbal tea with Cyclocarya paliurus leaves as raw material, is famous for its unique nutritional benefits and flavor. However, due to the unique "bittersweet" of Cyclocarya paliurus tea, it is still unable to fully satisfy consumers' high-quality taste experience and satisfaction. Therefore, this study aimed to explore metabolites in Cyclocarya paliurus leaves during their growth period, particularly composition and variation of sweet and bitter taste compounds, by combining multi-platform metabolomics analysis with an electronic tongue system and molecular docking simulation technology. The results indicated that there were significant differences in the contents of total phenols, flavonoids, polysaccharides, and saponins in C. paliurus leaves in different growing months. A total of 575 secondary metabolites were identified as potential active metabolites related to sweet/bitter taste using nontargeted metabolomics based on UHPLC-MS/MS analysis. Moreover, molecular docking technology was utilized to study interactions between the candidate metabolites and the sweet receptors T1R2/T1R3 and the bitter receptors T2R4/T2R14. Six key compounds with high sweetness and low bitterness were successfully identified by using computational simulation analysis, including cis-anethole, gluconic acid, beta-D-Sedoheptulose, asparagine, proline, and citrulline, which may serve as candidates for taste modification in Cyclocarya paliurus leaves. These findings provide a new perspective for understanding the sweet and bitter taste characteristics that contribute to the distinctive sensory quality of Cyclocarya paliurus leaves.

Abstract:Abstract Cyclocarya paliurus leaf is a medicinal and edible homologous plant, which possess various bioactive components with significant health benefits. However, the quality and safety of the aqueous extract from Cyclocarya paliurus leaves (CPLAE) vary greatly due to the raw materials and preparation technology. At present, chromatographic fingerprinting has been widely used for qualitative and quantitative analysis of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). In this study, a method combining high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) fingerprint with quantitative analysis was established and successfully applied to the characterization and quality evaluation of the CPLAE. In addition, the genetic safety of the CPLAE was evaluated by genotoxicity tests, including Ames test, chromosomal aberration test of Chinese hamster lung (CHL) cell in vitro, and bone marrow micronucleus test in mice. The results showed that 10 batches of CPLAE samples were analyzed by high performance liquid chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry (HPLC-MS), and the similarity of chromatographic fingerprint of each batch was above 0.961, indicating good similarity. At the same time, the 6 compounds with high absorption strength in the chromatogram were quantitatively analyzed. The results showed that all 6 compounds had good regression (R2=1.000) in the test range, and the recoveries ranged from 96.25% to 102.46%. The results of the 3 genotoxicity tests showed that the highest dose of CPLAE had no genotoxicity. In conclusion, the newly established chromatographic fingerprint and multi-component quantitative analysis method is stable and accurate, and can be used for the identification and quality evaluation of the CPLAE. Moreover, the CPLAE has the characteristics of safety and high quality as functional materials in food.
