Abstract:At present, with the rapid increase of emergency knowledge and the improvement of people's requirements for medical quality, the traditional teaching mode cannot fully meet the needs of emergency teaching in the new era. PBL is a project-based teaching that allows students to have a deeper understanding of content knowledge and to better apply what they have learned to their lives. This paper aims to improve the clinical emergency teaching mode by PBL teaching method, and improve the comprehensive ability of clinical emergency of medical students. This article proposes a problem-based PBL imaging teaching method, combining the characteristics and content of clinical emergency courses, focusing on students, highlighting the problem-solving process, and improving students' creative thinking ability. To cultivate students' interest in clinical learning, develop their self-learning ability, train their teamwork and communication skills, and cultivate their ability to set, question and solve questions, so as to promote medical students' overall comprehensive ability to integrate specialized knowledge and clinical practice. In this paper, the PBL teaching method and the traditional teaching method of comparative experiments show that the PBL teaching method can more effectively highlight the characteristics of clinical emergency medicine teaching mode, and make full use of the limited emergency teaching resources, so as to improve the quality of clinical emergency teaching. Compared with the traditional teaching mode, the theoretical knowledge and clinical operation skills of medical students under the PBL teaching mode are improved by 13%, Autonomous learning ability, communication ability and creative thinking ability have also been relatively improved.

Abstract:Objective To investigate the application effect of Problem based learning (PBL) combined with role play teaching method in the training of emergency internal medicine.Methods Totally 60 medical students were randomly divided into two groups.The students in the observation groop were trained with PBL teaching method while those in control group were trained with traditional teaching method.The practical performances of the students in both groups were evaluated by virtual experience of dealing with patients in the emergency department through the role play teaching method.The grasp of basic knowledge was assessed by writing tests.Finally all the students in the observation group answered a survey about the teaching methods.Results There was uo difference in the scores of the basic knowledge test between the two groups ( P ＞ 0.05 ).The practical ability of the observation group was much better than that of the control group in the role play practice ( P ＜ 0.05 ).Almost all the students in the observation group accept the PBL teaching method.Conelusion PBL combined with role play teaching method is effective based on the characteristics of emergency medicine.

Abstract:Objective: To explore the application advantages of problem-based learning (PBL) teaching method in clinical emergency teaching. Methods: Two classes of students in the five-year clinical medicine major of our university were selected as the research subjects and divided into two groups according to different teaching methods. Among them, 50 students who received the traditional teaching method constituted the control group, while 52 students who received the PBL teaching method constituted the observation group. After one semester, an exam was conducted to assess their theoretical knowledge and first-aid practical skills, and evaluate their clinical thinking skills. At the same time, a teaching satisfaction questionnaire was distributed to evaluate the teaching satisfaction. Results: The results of the t-test showed that the observation group was significantly higher than the control group in terms of theoretical assessment, first aid practical assessment, and clinical thinking skills, and the differences were statistically significant (P < 0.05). The results of the χ2 test showed that the difference in teaching satisfaction between the observation group and the control group was statistically significant (P < 0.05), and the teaching satisfaction in the observation group was significantly higher than the control group. Conclusion: Compared with traditional teaching methods, applying PBL teaching method in clinical emergency teaching can achieve more significant teaching effects. Students’ mastery of theoretical knowledge, first aid practical skills, and clinical thinking skills can be effectively strengthened, and it is conducive to improving teaching satisfaction.

Abstract:Objective To improve the teaching effects of medical image processing.Methods Teaching content was reformed considering the problems encountered during clinical practice and research. Modern teaching methods such as problem-based learning and flipped classroom were adopted. In addition, professors from world famous Universities were invited to teach lessons.A website was also built for this course.Moreover,the students were encouraged to participate in after-class research.Finally,a new practice-based teaching mode with characteristic content and modern methods was developed.By adopting information technology,all-round students could be gifted with international vision.Results The students'interest was stimulated and their problem solving skills were improved.Conclusion The teaching effects of medical image processing can be largely improved by research,so that the students can not only master the course content well but also develop skills to solve practical problems.

Abstract:Objective To investigate the application value of PBL teaching mode in the cultivation of rotation resident doctors in the specialist base of emergency medicine.Methods 30 rotation resident doctors in the specialist base of emergency medicine department of Beijing Chaoyang Hospital were selected from 2012 to 2014,then they were classified into two groups:the PBL group (n=15) and traditional multimedia model group (n=15).The same content was taught respectively in two groups and evaluated the teaching effect.Results The PBL mode is superior to the traditional multimedia mode (P<0.001),and the examination scores of students in the PBL mode group were better than that in the traditional multimedia mode group significantly (P<0.01).Conclusions The PBL mode is helpful for the improvement of active learning capacity of the rotation resident doctors in the specialist base of emergency medicine department,as well as improving their level of specialized knowledge and clinical skills.

Abstract:Objective To evaluate the application effect of the problem based learning in clinical teaching of orthopedics. Methods We chose sixty five-year program students of Peking univ-ersity health science center as research object. All students were randomly divided into experimental and control groups, with thirty students in each group. Experimental group was given PBL teaching combined with lecture based learning (section-based learning, LBL), while the control group only received the LBL teaching. Two groups were given 8 hours of teaching experiments. After the end of the study, the teaching effect of the two groups was evaluated by the theory course and clinical skills. The questionnaire was distributed to the 2 groups. The scores of both experimental group students and control group students in theory courses and clinical skills were analyzed using SPSS 19.0 software using t-test and x2 test. Result The score of the experimental group was (53.7 ±3.2) in the knowl-edge-based grades exam, while the control group was (52.3±2.2), showing no obvious difference when compared to the control group's grades (P>0.05). The score of the experimental group was (24.0±1.5) in the hands-on technique grades exam, while the control group was (22.3±1.6). The difference in grades showed statistical significance (P<0.05). Feedback survey results showed that the experimental group's teaching satisfaction degree was also significantly higher than the control group, and the dif-ference was statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusions The application of PBL in clinical teach-ing in orthopedic clinical teaching can improve students' learning interest and self-study ability, and helps to develop students' clinical thinking ability. But the role of PBL teaching in improving students' medical knowledge level is not obvious.

Objectives: In recent years, the rapid development of Problem-Based Learning (PBL) in Chinese medical colleges and universities is a self-directed learning mode comprising student- centered, issue-based and discussion-centered. This study evaluates the quality of PBL implementation and examines factors that affect the medical learning effect. Methods: Based on the continuous application of PBL course among 234 of undergraduates majoring in clinical medicine from 2014 to 2018, we assessed the learning effect and curriculum implementation through examination and questionnaire. Results: PBL preliminarily promotes the learning abilities of medical students in several aspects, including literature inquiry ability (83.76%), autonomous learning ability (74.79%), teamwork ability (60.26%), interpersonal communication ability (61.11%), language expression ability (72.22%) and critical thinking ability (53.85%). However, further analysis reveals that there are still many underlying issues to be solved, such as rapid decrease of learning interest and involvement, low learning efficiency in unit time, etc. We make a thorough discussion and put forward some recommendations. Conclusions: This study indicates that PBL is an effective learning mode for undergraduate medical education, which would be beneficial by flexible adjustment of PBL curriculum practice, applying different cases in accordance with student's aptitude and enhancing the training of experienced clinical tutors.
Application of integrated problem-based learning combined with lecture-based classroom teaching in undergraduate medical education: An effective teaching model in a Medical School in China

Abstract:The problem-based learning (PBL) is increasingly used in undergraduate education. However, the application of integrated PBL to medical undergraduate education has not been well assessed. An observational study was designed to compare integrated PBL combined with lecture-based classroom (LBC) with traditional LBC teaching in 2 semesters of a Medical School in China. This study was conducted from March 2021 to July 2022. A total of 118 undergraduates majoring in clinical medicine were randomly allocated in 2 groups, 1 group receiving the integrated PBL + LBC teaching (experimental group, n = 60) and another group receiving LBC teaching (control group, n = 58). The experimental group attended the integrated PBL courses for the basic and clinical medicine conducted in the 6th and 8th semesters, respectively, as well as taking the LBC courses. The experimental group was required to preview the course materials before class, make presentations in class and take online feedback questionnaires after class, while the control group was required to preview the textbooks and listen to the traditional LBC courses. The students' scores of these 2 groups were compared, and feedback questionnaires were performed to evaluate the effectiveness of the experimental group over the control group. Results showed that the experimental group scored significantly higher than the control group in Clinical Skills (95% confidence interval [CI] 4.19-5.89), Internal Medicine I (95% CI: 1.85-9.93), Internal Medicine II (95% CI: 8.07-15.90), Introduction to Surgery (95% CI: 5.08-10.25), Surgery (General Surgery) (95% CI: 7.82-12.72), Surgery (Specialty) (95% CI: 6.47-9.97), and Clinical Medical Level Test (95% CI: 1.60-5.15) (all P < .01). In the feedback questionnaires of integrated PBL, up to 80% and 90% of students were satisfied with the teaching methods and lecturers, respectively. More than 80% of students agreed that the integrated PBL improved their abilities to learn independently, understand knowledge, and to raise, analyze and solve problems. In terms of stress in and out of class, a small number of students, <36.7%, felt stressed. The integrated PBL combined with LBC is an effective teaching approach, which may provide new ideas for teaching research and reform on undergraduate medical education in clinical medicine specialty and other medical majors.

Abstract:As medical education evolves, Problem-Based Learning (PBL) and Case-Based Learning (CBL) methodologies have emerged as vital pedagogical tools. This study aims to delve into the application and effectiveness of a hybrid PBL-CBL approach in clinical teaching for vascular surgery. By conducting a comparative analysis through concrete teaching practices, this research evaluates the impact on students' clinical knowledge retention, advancement in clinical reasoning skills, and proficiency in resolving real-world clinical challenges. The findings reveal that the integrated PBL-CBL methodology substantially enhances learning outcomes in vascular surgery clinical teaching, ultimately fostering significant development in students' comprehensive clinical abilities.
A SUPPLY SIDE THEORY OF THIRD PARTY CONFLICT MANAGEMENT

Abstract:We develop and test a theory of the supply side of third party conflict management. Building on an existing formal model of mediation (Kydd, 2003), we consider the influence of broad, top-down systemic forces on mediator decisions. Our previous work suggests that a strong democratic community and its institutions bolster the likelihood that third party mediation will occur. We integrate this effect of the democratic community into a game theoretic mediation model by adding a simple cost term that punishes a mediator for lying about one side’s resolve for fighting and getting caught. By increasing the supply of credible mediators, global movements toward a strong democratic community increase the likelihood that potential mediators will intervene in contentious conflicts. Empirical analyses of dyadic data from 18162001 provide support for our theory, with third party conflict management occurring more frequently when the strength of the democratic community and global institutions rises. We also find that democratic and powerful states serve as mediators more often, and that trade ties, alliances, issue salience, and distance influence third party decisions to mediate. Abstract:Objective. To study the application value of PBL (Problem-Based Learning) combined with a situational simulation teaching method in clinical practice teaching of radiology. Methods. 120 interns who practiced in the radiology department of our hospital from 2020 to 2021 were randomly divided into a study group and a control group. The research group used PBL combined with the scenario simulation teaching method to carry out clinical practice teaching activities. The control group was carried out according to the conventional teaching plan. After 3 months, the teaching effect and satisfaction of the two groups were compared. Results. The imaging report quality control score, intravenous contrast agent score, and practice test score in the study group were higher than those in the control group. The scores of the small class and special class in the research group were higher than those in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant ( P < 0.05 ). The scores of job competency questionnaire in the research group were higher than those in the control group ( P < 0.05 ). The occupational self-efficacy questionnaire score of the research group was higher than that of the control group ( P < 0.05 ). The nursing practice satisfaction score of the research group was higher than that of the control group ( P < 0.05 ). Conclusion. The value of PBL combined with the scenario simulation teaching method in the teaching of radiology clinical practice is significant, which can improve the work ability of interns and make them more satisfied.

Abstract:Research purposes: Because emergency medicine requires highly demanding operability, based on the study of the Blackboard network teaching platform and emergency medicine mixed teaching model, the theory and practice are combined. The proposed method is to analyze the mixed medical teaching mode of emergency medicine based on Blackboard network teaching platform through the construction of emergency medical video course website, classroom assisted teaching, after-school continuous teaching and its use evaluation. Results: Compared with the modern general teaching mode, the Blackboard network teaching platform's emergency medical mixed teaching mode has changed the traditional emergency medical teaching methods, paying more attention to the functions of communication, counseling, consultation, evaluation, etc. in teaching, for the development of high quality Emergency medicine teaching provides powerful material and technical conditions and plays an important role in clinical medical education. Conclusion: The hybrid medical teaching model based on Blackboard network teaching platform is constructed, which greatly improves the hands-on ability, logical thinking ability and independent analysis ability of medical students, and lays a foundation for cultivating emergency medical talents with clinical practice ability.

Abstract:Clinical thinking should be one of the main aims of clinical teaching.Step-by-step PBL just meets this requirement.Strict teachers' training was necessary as the foundation of step-by-step PBE implementation.Questions which might be discussed during the teaching process were carefully prepared in order to reflect real clinical situation.In the case discussing process questions were solved step-by-step.At the same time medical students' clinical thinking were created and improved through patients' histories col- lection,body examination,auxiliary examination,diagnosis and differential diagnosis.This method was e- valuated commendably by the students.Step-by-step PBL was more helpful to mobilize the students' enthu- siasm and train their clinical and logic thinking than traditional PBL.It is a more reasonable teaching meth- od in clinical teaching.
