Abstract:We prove conditions ensuring that a Lie ideal or an invariant additive subgroup in a ring contains all additive commutators. A crucial assumption is that the subgroup is fully noncentral, that is, its image in every quotient is noncentral. For a unital algebra over a field of characteristic $\neq 2$ where every additive commutator is a sum of square-zero elements, we show that a fully noncentral subspace is a Lie ideal if and only if it is invariant under all inner automorphisms. This applies in particular to zero-product balanced algebras.

Abstract:In this work, we prove that partially commutative, partially commutative metabelian, or partially commutative nilpotent Lie algebra splits into the direct sum of two subalgebras if and only if the completion of the defining graph of this algebra is not connected.

Abstract:We study centralizers in certain algebras with valuation in order to generalize results by Hellström and Silvestrov on centralizers in graded algebras. We prove that the centralizer of an element in the studied algebras is a free module over a certain ring. Under further assumptions we obtain that the centralizer is also commutative.

Abstract:In this paper we study the tensor powers of the standard representation of the quantum super-algebra $U_q(sl(2|1)$, focusing on the rings of its algebra endomorphisms, called centraliser algebras and denoted by $LG_n$. Their dimensions were conjectured by I. Marin and E. Wagner \cite{MW}. We prove this conjecture, describing the intertwiner spaces from a semi-simple decomposition as sets consisting of certain paths in a planar lattice with integer coordinates. Using this model, we present a matrix unit basis for the centraliser algebra $LG_n$, by means of closed curves in the plane, which are included in the lattice with integer coordinates.

Abstract:This paper investigates centralizers and twisted centralizers in degenerate and non-degenerate Clifford (geometric) algebras. We provide an explicit form of the centralizers and twisted centralizers of the subspaces of fixed grades, subspaces determined by the grade involution and the reversion, and their direct sums. The results can be useful for applications of Clifford algebras in computer science, physics, and engineering.

Abstract:In this note we generalize the definition of partial permutations of Ivanov and Kerov and we build a universal algebra which projects onto the m-centraliser algebra defined by Creedon. We use it to present a new proof for the polynomiality property of the structure coefficients of the m-centraliser algebra and to obtain upper bounds for the polynomial degrees.

Abstract:Given a unital commutative ring $ \mathscr{R} $, $ (\mathscr{A}, \mathscr{B}) $ and $ (\mathscr{B}, \mathscr{A}) $ are bimodules of $ \mathscr{M} $ and $ \mathscr{N} $, respectively, where $ \mathscr{A}, \mathscr{B} $ are unitals $ \mathscr{R}- $algebras. The $ \mathscr{R}- $algebra $ \mathscr{G} = $ $ \mathscr{G}(\mathscr{A}, \mathscr{M}, \mathscr{N}, \mathscr{B}) $ is a generalized matrix algebra described by the Morita context $ (\mathscr{A}, \mathscr{B}, \mathscr{M}, \mathscr{N}, \zeta_{\mathscr{M}\mathscr{N}}, \chi_{\mathscr{N}\mathscr{M}}) $. The present study investigated the structure of Lie (Jordan) $ \sigma- $centralizers at the zero products on order two generalized matrix algebra and established that each Jordan $ \sigma- $centralizer at the zero products is a $ \sigma- $centralizer at the zero product on order two generalized matrix algebra. We also provided sufficient and necessary conditions under which a Lie $ \sigma- $centralizer at the zero product is proper on an order two generalized matrix algebra.

Superintegrable systems associated to commutants of Cartan subalgebras in enveloping algebras

Abstract:We provide a classification and explicit formulas for the elements that span the centralizer of Cartan subalgebras of complex semisimple Lie algebras of non-exceptional type in their universal enveloping algebra, and show that these generate polynomial (Poisson) algebras. The precise structure for the case of rank three simple Lie algebras is provided, and the inclusion relations between the corresponding polynomial algebras illustrated. We develop the ideas of constructing algebraic superintegrable systems and their integrals from the generators of the centralizer subalgebras and their symmetry algebra. In particular, we present explicitly one example the superintegrable system corresponding to the Cartan centralizer of $\mathfrak{so}(6,\mathbb{C})$.

Centralizers of Lie Algebras Associated to the Descending Central Series of Certain Poly-Free Groups

Abstract:Poly-free groups are constructed as iterated semidirect products of free groups. The class of poly-free groups includes the classical pure braid groups, fundamental groups of fiber-type hyperplane arrangements, and certain subgroups of the automorphism groups of free groups. The purpose of this article is to compute centralizers of certain natural Lie subalgebras of the Lie algebra obtained from the descending central series of poly-free groups G including some of the geometrically interesting classes of groups mentioned above. The main results here extend results of Cohen and Prassidis for such groups. These results imply that a homomorphism out of G is faithful, essentially, if it is faithful when restricted to the level of Lie algebras obtained from the descending central series for the product F x Z, where F is the "top" free group in the semidirect products of free groups and Z is the center of G. The arguments use a mixture of homological, and Lie algebraic methods applied to certain choices of extensions. The limitations of these methods are illustrated using the "poison groups" of Formanek and Procesi, poly-free groups whose Lie algebras do not have certain properties considered here.

Abstract:This paper is concerned with generalising the results for Lie $CT$-algebras to Leibniz algebras. In some cases our results give a generalisation even for the case of a Lie algebra. Results on $A$-algebras are used to show every Leibniz $CT$-algebra over an algebraically closed field of characteristic different from 2,3 is solvable or is isomorphic to $sl_2(F)$. A characterisation is then given for solvable Leibniz $CT$-algebras. It is also shown that the class of solvable Leibniz $CT$-algebras is factor closed.

Abstract:Motivated by some recent results on Lie ideals, it is proved that if $L$ is a Lie ideal of a simple ring $R$ with center $Z(R)$, then $L\subseteq Z(R)$, $L=Z(R)a+Z(R)$ for some noncentral $a\in L$, or $[R, R]\subseteq L$, which gives a generalization of a classical theorem due to Herstein. We also study commutators and products of noncentral Lie ideals of prime rings. Precisely, let $R$ be a prime ring with extended centroid $C$. We completely characterize Lie ideals $L$ and elements $a$ of $R$ such that $L+aL$ contains a nonzero ideal of $R$. Given noncentral Lie ideals $K, L$ of $R$, it is proved that $[K, L]=0$ if and only if $KC=LC=Ca+C$ for any noncentral element $a\in L$. As a consequence, we characterize noncentral Lie ideals $K_1,\ldots,K_m$ with $m\geq 2$ such that $K_1K_2\cdots K_m$ contains a nonzero ideal of $R$. Finally, we characterize noncentral Lie ideals $K_j$'s and $L_k$'s satisfying $\big[K_1K_2\cdots K_m, L_1L_2\cdots L_n\big]=0$ from the viewpoint of centralizers.

Abstract:In this paper, we investigate Jordan left $\alpha$-centralizer on algebras. We show that every Jordan left $\alpha$-centralizer on an algebra with a right identity is a left $\alpha$-centralizer. We also investigate this result for Banach algebras with a bounded approximate identity. Finally, we study Jordan left $\alpha$-centralizer on group algebra $L^1(G)$.

Abstract:In this paper we investigate the image of the center $Z$ of the distribution algebra $Dist(GL(m|n))$ of the general linear supergroup over a ground field of positive characteristic under the Harish-Chandra morphism $h:Z \to Dist(T)$ obtained by the restriction of the natural map $Dist(GL(m|n))\to Dist(T)$. We define supersymmetric elements in $Dist(T)$ and show that each image $h(c)$ for $c\in Z$ is supersymmetric. The central part of the paper is devoted to a description of a minimal set of generators of the algebra of supersymmetric elements over Frobenius kernels $T_r$.

Abstract:In this paper we provide, under some mild explicit assumptions, a geometric description of the category of representations of the centralizer of a regular unipotent element in a reductive algebraic group in terms of perverse sheaves on the Langlands dual affine flag variety. This equivalence is suggested and motivated by the "geometric Langlands" philosophy, and is used in later work to construct equivalences of categories relating various geometric incarnations of the affine Hecke algebra of the given reductive group.

Abstract:Let $d$ be a positive integer. The Yangian $Y_d=Y(\mathfrak{gl}(d,\mathbb C))$ of the general linear Lie algebra $\mathfrak{gl}(d,\mathbb C)$ has countably many generators and quadratic-linear defining relations, which can be packed into a single matrix relation using the Yang matrix -- the famous RTT presentation. Alternatively, $Y_d$ can be built from certain centralizer subalgebras of the universal enveloping algebras $U(\mathfrak{gl}(N,\mathbb C))$, with the use of a limit transition as $N\to\infty$. This approach is called the \emph{centralizer construction}. The paper shows that a generalization of the centralizer construction leads to a new family $\{Y_{d,L}: L=1,2,3,\dots\}$ of Yangian-type algebras (the Yangian $Y_d$ being the first term of this family). For the new algebras, the RTT presentation seems to be missing, but a number of properties of the Yangian $Y_d$ persist. In particular, $Y_{d,L}$ possesses a system of quadratic-linear defining relations. The algebras $Y_{d,L}$ ($d=1,2,3,\dots$) provide a kind of quantization for a special double Poisson bracket (in the sense of Van den Bergh) on the free associative algebra with $L$ generators.

Abstract:Let g be either a basic classical Lie superalgebra or gl(m,n) over the field of complex numbers C . For any associative, commutative, and finitely generated algebra A with unity, we consider the loop Lie superalgebra g⊗A . In [11] , Rao defined a class of central operators for g⊗A and conjectured that these central operators, which generalizes the classical Gelfand invariants, generate the algebra U(g⊗A)g for g=gl(m,n) . In this article we prove this conjecture and we also give a spanning set for U(g⊗A)G where g is the orthosymplectic Lie superalgebra and G is the corresponding orthosymplectic supergroup.

Abstract:We show that for a given nilpotent Lie algebra $\mathfrak{g}$ with $Z(\mathfrak{g})\subseteq [\mathfrak{g},\mathfrak{g}]$ all commutative post-Lie algebra structures, or CPA-structures, on $\mathfrak{g}$ are complete. This means that all left and all right multiplication operators in the algebra are nilpotent. Then we study CPA-structures on free-nilpotent Lie algebras $F_{g,c}$ and discover a strong relationship to solving systems of linear equations of type $[x,u]+[y,v]=0$ for generator pairs $x,y\in F_{g,c}$. We use results of Remeslennikov and Stöhr concerning these equations to prove that, for certain $g$ and $c$, the free-nilpotent Lie algebra $F_{g,c}$ has only central CPA-structures.
