Abstract:In smart cities, the fast increase in automobiles has caused congestion, pollution, and disruptions in the transportation of commodities. Each year, there are more fatalities and cases of permanent impairment due to everyday road accidents. To control traffic congestion, provide secure data transmission also detecting accidents the IoT-based Traffic Management System is used. To identify, gather, and send data, autonomous cars, and intelligent gadgets are equipped with an IoT-based ITM system with a group of sensors. The transport system is being improved via machine learning. In this work, an Adaptive Traffic Management system (ATM) with an accident alert sound system (AALS) is used for managing traffic congestion and detecting the accident. For secure traffic data transmission Secure Early Traffic-Related EveNt Detection (SEE-TREND) is used. The design makes use of several scenarios to address every potential problem with the transportation system. The suggested ATM model continuously modifies the timing of traffic signals based on the volume of traffic and anticipated movements from neighboring junctions. By progressively allowing cars to pass green lights, it considerably reduces traveling time. It also relieves traffic congestion by creating a seamless transition. The results of the trial show that the suggested ATM system fared noticeably better than the traditional traffic-management method and will be a leader in transportation planning for smart-city-based transportation systems. The suggested ATM-ALTREND solution provides secure traffic data transmission that decreases traffic jams and vehicle wait times, lowers accident rates, and enhances the entire travel experience.

Abstract:rapid urbanization and the growing population in smart cities pose significant challenges to the management of urban traffic. In recent years, there has been an increasing interest in developing intelligent traffic management systems that leverage advanced machineries, such as the Internet of Things (IoT), and machine learning (ML), to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of traffic management in smart cities. This paper proposes an intelligent traffic management (ITM) system for smart cities that integrates various computing paradigms to provide real-time traffic information, optimize traffic flow, and improve road safety. The suggested system utilizes an innovative system for the predicting the traffic flows with the goal of enhancing the current level of traffic management in smart cities. An enhanced convolutional autoencoder network is incorporated into the proposed system as a means of extracting the spatial representations contained in traffic flows. Additionally, by the utilization of a refined gated learning module, it possesses the capability of accurately recording temporal dynamics. Our system is evaluated using real-world traffic data, and the results demonstrate its effectiveness in improving traffic flow and reducing congestion in smart cities. Our system has the potential to significantly enhance the performance of traffic management systems in smart cities, decrease traffic crowding, and progress the safety of roads in smart cities.

Abstract:Smart cities and the Internet of Things have enabled the integration of communicating devices for efficient decision-making. Notably, traffic congestion is one major problem faced by daily commuters in urban cities. In developed countries, specialized sensors are deployed to gather traffic information to predict traffic patterns. Any traffic updates are shared with the commuters via the Internet. Such solutions become impracticable when physical infrastructure and Internet connectivity are either non-existent or very limited. In case of developing countries, no roadside units are available and Internet connectivity is still an issue in remote areas. Internet traffic analysis is a thriving field of study due to the myriad ways in which it may be put to practical use. In the intelligent Internet-of-Vehicles (IOVs), traffic congestion can be predicted and identified using cutting-edge technologies. Using tree-based decision-tree, random-forest, extra-tree, and XGBoost machine learning (ML) strategies, this research proposes an intelligent-transport-system for the IOVs-based vehicular network traffic in a smart city set-up. The suggested system uses ensemble learning and averages the selection of crucial features to give high detection accuracy at minimal computational costs, as demonstrated by the simulation results. For IOV-based vehicular network traffic, the tree-based ML approaches with feature-selection (FS) outperformed those without FS. When contrasted to the lowest KNN accuracy of 96.6% and the highest SVM accuracy of 98.01%, the Stacking approach demonstrates superior accuracy as 99.05%.

Abstract:Over the past few decades, ITS have spiked an increasing research interest as a promising discipline for revolutionizing the transportation sector and solving common traffic and vehicle-related problems. ITS comprise a multitude of interconnected engineering feats that function as an entity for optimizing network-scale travel experiences from a technical, social, economic, and environmental aspect. Such optimizations necessitate the advancement of information and communication technologies, electronic sensors, control systems, and computers, which high-lights the data-driven nature of modern ITS. In this paper we design a system which uses machine learning algorithm using SVM, KNN and CNN algorithm which is a novel system which will provide intelligence to the current traffic control system present at a four-way junction. This ML technique is mainly aimed to replace the existing traffic light control system with artificial intelligence system. Nowadays most cities are equipped with CCTV cameras on the roads and the junctions, the basic idea is to collect the live video from the CCTV cameras and detect the number of vehicles on each lane and feed the data into another machine learning algorithm. according to the data of each lane changes into the light phase of the green signal. This system mainly aims to increase the traffic efficiency by increasing vehicle flow which will reduce waiting time for the vehicles. We are using HOG algorithm for feature extraction. In the implementation of the proposed architecture, we have achieved an accuracy of 86.34% for binary classification and 90.23% for multi-class classification

Abstract:Traffic congestion is becoming a serious problem with the large number of vehicle on the roads. In the traditional traffic control system, the timing of the green light is adjusted regardless of the average traffic rate at the junction. Many strategies have been introduced to solve and improve vehicle management. However, in order to handle road traffic issues, an intelligent traffic management solution is required. This article represents a self adaptive real-time traffic light control algorithm based on the traffic flow. We present a machine learning approach coupled with image processing to manage the traffic clearance at the signal junction. The proposed system utilizes single image processing via neural network and You Only Look Once (YOLOv3) framework to establish traffic clearance at the signal. We employed YOLO architectures because it is accurate in terms of mean average precision (mAP), interaction over union (IOU) values and fast in object detection tasks as well. It runs significantly faster than other detection methods with comparable performance. The average processing time of single image was estimated to be 1.3 s. Further based on the input from YOLO we estimated the ‘on’ time period green light for effective traffic clearance. Several real time parameters like number of vehicles (two wheelers, four wheelers), road width and junction crossing time are considered to estimate the ‘on’time of green light. Moreover, we used the real traffic images to test the performance and trained the system with different dataset. Our experiments investigation reveals that the predicted vehicle counts were well matched with the actual vehicle count and proposed method apprehended an average accuracy of 81.1%. The reported strategy is self adaptive, highly accurate, fast and has the potential to be implemented in the traffic clearance at the junctions.

Abstract:Intelligent traffic monitoring is a prominent topic of investigation due the emergence of advancements like the Internet interconnected Things and intelligent computers. Intelligent sensing has come to the forefront in recent years due to its capacity to make calculated decisions on its own to address difficult issues. Automatic vehicles and smart gadgets are equipped with sensors that are part of an IoT-based system in order to recognize, gather, and transmit data. Artificial intelligence (AI)-based techniques allow machines to acquire knowledge and keep tabs on their surroundings through continuous sensing. Improvements in variable traffic control strategies for overcrowded cities have numerous positive outcomes, one of which is increased road safety. Since the sensors on which conventional dynamic controllers relied had their own shortcomings, we might use vision sensors (like cameras) to avoid these issues. Image and video-based computing has a lot of potential for measuring traffic volumes. A new traffic management system named Enhanced Transportation Technologies (ETT) is implemented to relieve congestion at the busy intersection after the old one was deemed to be inadequate. The term "intelligent transportation system" (ITS) refers to a group of transportation systems to keep drivers and passengers safe on the road and to facilitate autonomous mobility by optimizing control systems. To further improve urban planning, crowd behavior, and traffic forecasting, dependable AI models have been developed to work in tandem with ITS. Compared to controllers using conventional sensors, the proposed model has been shown through extensive simulations to reduce waiting time and increase movement speed on average.

Abstract:With the rapid growth and development of cities, Intelligent Traffic Management and Control (ITMC) is becoming a fundamental component to address the challenges of modern urban traffic management, where a wide range of daily problems need to be addressed in a prompt and expedited manner. Issues such as unpredictable traffic dynamics, resource constraints, and abnormal events pose difficulties to city managers. ITMC aims to increase the efficiency of traffic management by minimizing the odds of traffic problems, by providing real-time traffic state forecasts to better schedule the intersection signal controls. Reliable implementations of ITMC improve the safety of inhabitants and the quality of life, leading to economic growth. In recent years, researchers have proposed different solutions to address specific problems concerning traffic management, ranging from image-processing and deep-learning techniques to forecasting the traffic state and deriving policies to control intersection signals. This review article studies the primary public datasets helpful in developing models to address the identified problems, complemented with a deep analysis of the works related to traffic state forecast and intersection-signal-control models. Our analysis found that deep-learning-based approaches for short-term traffic state forecast and multi-intersection signal control showed reasonable results, but lacked robustness for unusual scenarios, particularly during oversaturated situations, which can be resolved by explicitly addressing these cases, potentially leading to significant improvements of the systems overall. However, there is arguably a long path until these models can be used safely and effectively in real-world scenarios.

Abstract:Effective traffic management has emerged as a critical issue in today's rapidly urbanising areas with a rise in the number of cars. By developing an Edge-Enabled Smart Traffic Management System (EESTMS) run on the Internet of Things (IoT), this paper puts forth a novel approach. EESTMS makes use of edge computing and IoT technology's promise to improve urban transportation. An large network of thoughtfully placed sensors and cameras dispersed around the city forms the system's central structure. These gadgets continuously gather data on the volume, speed, and congestion of moving vehicles. This information offers insightful information about traffic trends. We can lessen latency and lighten the load on centralised systems by processing this data at the edge. In order to analyse the data and identify traffic bottlenecks and congestion hotspots, machine learning techniques are used. Real-time analysis allows for dynamic traffic signal adjustments, which optimise traffic flow and shorten commuter travel times. EESTMS also offers a user-friendly interface with real-time traffic information, alternate routes, and tailored navigation advice that is accessible via mobile applications and web platforms. By making wise decisions, commuters can lessen their stress and carbon footprint. EESTMS plays a critical role in advancing sustainability by reducing fuel consumption and greenhouse gas emissions through effective traffic management, in addition to enhancing urban mobility. By giving emergency vehicles priority routing, this system also improves emergency response times. The application of EESTMS has shown promising outcomes in terms of lessened traffic congestion, improved commuter experiences, and lower environmental impact. Innovative solutions like EESTMS can open the door for smarter, more sustainable urban mobility as cities continue to grow, eventually enhancing citizens' quality of life.

Abstract:In metropolitan regions, the quick increase in vehicles has caused gridlock, pollutants, and problems in the transportation of products. IoT is a breakthrough advancing the development of intelligent management systems and automated processes throughout the universe. For automatic and intelligent cultures, this is a crucial contribution. Effective management and prevention of traffic congestion are reliable strategies that contribute to conserving numerous valuable resources. Autonomous vehicles and smart devices are equipped with an IoT-based ITM system of sensors that can understand, collect, and transfer information. Another method to enhance the transportation system is deep learning (DL). Traffic jams, delays, and a high death rate result from the numerous problems of conventional transportation management systems. An adaptive traffic management system (ATM) built on DL and IoT is designed and implemented in this study's efforts. The suggested system's architecture is built on the automobile, the framework, and the events. To account for all potential problems with the transportation system, the design uses a variety of situations. The proposed methodology uses a Quantum Optical Communication (QOC) system for Traffic monitoring and enhanced data communication. The suggested adaptive traffic management-based QOC model continuously modifies the timing of traffic signals based on traffic volume and anticipated movements from neighbouring junctions. By progressively allowing cars to cross green lights, it considerably reduces the duration of travel. It also reduces congestion in traffic by creating a smoother transition within 38 s, which is less than all other techniques.

The usage of IoT devices has increased the volume of the data and there is need to make this quantitative data as qualitative by using it to make the applications intelligent. Abstract:Nowadays, computer Vision (CV) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies in traffic management systems has emerged as a potential solution to alleviate traffic-related issues in metropolitan and urban cities. This research presents a novel approach called a Smart Traffic Control System for Urban Transportation Management (STC-UTM), which employs YOLO V8 as the development platform and Raspberry Pi 4 B single-board computer as the deployment platform. YOLO's realtime processing capabilities accurately identify various elements in the traffic environment, including cars, pedestrians, and bicycles. The Raspberry Pi 4 B, equipped with a powerful Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) does realtime data processing and utilizes AI algorithms to make adaptive decisions depending on traffic conditions. These choices include implementing adaptive traffic signal management, detecting congestion, and implementing rerouting schemes to improve vehicle flow and reduce traffic bottlenecks. The STC-UTM framework optimizes resource allocation, resulting in decreased travel time, fuel consumption, and environmental effects. The YOLO V8 model created has achieved a significant F1 score of 0.9634 and a recall rate of 0.9776, demonstrating its exceptional performance. The outcomes of this research have the potential to completely transform traffic management and urban transportation systems, providing advantages in terms of shortened journey durations, diminished environmental consequences, and improved road security.

Abstract:Efficient traffic management poses a significant challenge in smart cities, requiring the integration of diverse approaches. This paper presents an artificial intelligence framework that integrates internet of things (IoT) road traffic data to optimize traffic flow in smart city environments. Real-time traffic data is collected using IoT edge sensors, processed using machine learning (support vector machines, logistic regression, k-nearest neighbors) and deep learning long short-term memory (LTSM) algorithms, and utilized to develop accurate short-term and long-term traffic forecasting models. The proposed framework showcases superior performance compared to existing approaches, making it a widely applicable solution for smart city traffic management. Abstract:Traffic congestion and regulating traffic in traffic signals are major issues in cities. Nowadays, in most of the cities, traffic management centers installed numerous cameras all over the roads and traffic signals. Such cameras can be effectively used for the automation of traffic signals. The objective is to develop a real time system that can automatically monitor real time traffic and make the system intelligent using artificial intelligence techniques. Specifically, Deep Convolutional Neural Networks are employed to perform the task. From statistical traffic data, it determines count, type of vehicle, average speed, distance between vehicles, etc. Based on traffic, the algorithm instructs to stop vehicle or queue or move. It can also record a wrong-way driver. Using license plate recognition, security applications such as unauthorized vehicles are identified. If there is violation of traffic rules, they are recorded with registration number. It can detect ambulances and give first preference. The proposed algorithm identifies VIP vehicles and clear traffics in automated ways. Ambulances are given priority to pass the road. The entire system have been developed using a standalone-Graphical User Interface (GUI). We have implemented successfully and the proposed framework performs satisfactorily.

Abstract:Aims and Background: Integrated computing technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT), Multi-Agent Systems (MAS), and automatic networking to deliver Internet of Vehicles (IoV) applications. Objectives and Methodology: The main objective of this paper is to combine MAS with IoT or IoV a new paradigm within its Cypher Physical System (CPS) for intelligent car applications. We proposed the MAS algorithm and applied it to control traffic lights at multiple intersections. When using MAS together with scattered computing architectures, IoV can achieve higher efficiency. The proposed combination is based on the independent knowledge, adaptability, assertiveness, and responsiveness that can be used in wireless sensor paradigms to bring new remedies. Smart products will explore further advancements and diverse mobility capabilities. Results: IoT provides an appropriate atmosphere for connecting with MAS concepts and programs in addition to providing reliable, adaptable, efficient, and intelligent solutions in the automotive network. In addition, the combination of MAS with IoT and cognitive conditions could result in scalable, automated, and smart wireless sensor solutions. Conclusion: We conduct experiments on three different datasets, and the results demonstrate that MAS outperforms several state-of-the-art algorithms in alleviating traffic congestion with shorter training time.

Abstract:A popular research area is internet traffic analysis as it has many applications, mainly for classifying internet traffic. Innovative technologies have been developed for predicting and identifying traffic congestion in the intelligent Internet of vehicles (IOVs). In this paper, an intelligent transport system for the IOVs-based vehicular network traffic for smart city scenario is proposed based on tree-based Decision Tree (DT), Random Forest (RF), and Extra Tree (ET), and XGBoost machine learning (ML) models. Simulation results indicate that the proposed system can provide high detection accuracy and low computational costs thanks to ensemble learning and averaging important feature selection. The tree-based ML techniques with feature selection performed better than those without feature selection for IOV-based vehicular network traffic. The Stacking model shows higher classification accuracy, 99.05%, compared to the lowest KNN accuracy, 96.6%, and SVM accuracy, 98.01%.
