Abstract:The goal of our study was to report the clinical presentation, treatment, and complications of enchondroma in the distal phalanx of the finger. This was a retrospective study of 34 patients (19 women and 15 men) who underwent surgery between May 2004 and September 2012 for enchondroma in the distal phalanx of the finger. The average age of the patients was 39.38 ± 10.97 years old (range 14–59). The presenting symptoms and imaging features were recorded. The surgical procedure was performed under regional or general anesthesia. The surgical technique involved removal of tumors by opening a cortical window and curetting the cavity. The defects were filled with an injectable calcium phosphate cement. All patients received follow-up in our outpatient clinic every 6 months. Expansion of bone or thinning of the cortex present in the radiological imaging, including anteroposterior and lateral plain radiographs of the fingers, was used to assess for tumor recurrence. The observational end-point was reoperation. All tumors were confirmed as enchondromas by the pathological results. None of the patients had a tumor recurrence. Three patients (9% of cases) developed an infection. After antibiotic treatment, 2 patients were cured, and 1 patient required an amputation. Enchondroma in the distal phalanx of the finger presents with a variety of clinical symptoms. Injectable calcium phosphate cement is adequate for bone grafting. Postoperative infection is more common than tumor recurrence. If patients have an infection or bilateral bone cortex defects, bone grafting is challenging. Three Different Methods for Treating Multiple Enchondromatosis in One Hand.

Abstract:Ollier's disease remains comparatively rare, and is a non-hereditary cartilage dysplasia of bone. It is usually associated with problems such as deformity and fracture. Three different methods were used in a one-hand of 15-year-old boy reporting his pain in the left hand and swellings. After the curettage of tumor, regarding as the differences of all parts of the bone structure reconstruction in the patient's hand, we chose three following methods for this boy, i.e. fixed by the locking plate with calcium phosphate cement, filled with allograft bone, curetted the tumor without any bone graft. After the surgery, the patient was able to perform full motion of the operated hand. No evidence of recurrence was noted four years after surgery. To choose the different ways with bone grafts or not that relies on the patients' conditions for bone structure reconstruction. However, patients with large osseous defects or pathological fracture, we demand full bone graft and reliable internal fixation. After surgery, early exercises can reach a desirable result and functional recovery.

Abstract:[Purpose] To introduce a method of the fibular osteotomy for the treatment of osteochondromas of the distal aspect of tibia, and to evaluate the results. [Methods] Sixteen patients were treated for osteochondromas in the distal aspect of tibia through the fibular osteotomy between May 1996 and January 2004. Partial excision was performed in some patients for avoiding injuring epiphyseal plate. [Results] The duration of follow-up ranged from 10 months to 8 years and 6 months, with an average of 5 years and 2 months. There were two patients with partial excision and fourteen patients with complete excision. A recurrence of multiple cartilaginous exostoses after operation in other hospital was associated with malignant change. All cases had normal growth and good ankle function without no recurrence. Three adults and one child with huge tumor had partial structural deformation, but had good functional recovery. All fibulas were healed up. All sixteen patients had a Musculoskeletal Tumor Society score of 100 percent at the latest follow-up examination. [Conclusion] There were satisfactory results with fibular osteotomy for the treatment of osteochondromas in distal aspect of the tibia. Partial excision to preserve the physiologic function may be considered for the huge tumor, but a close follow-up postoperation is required, while complete excision may be necessary for the multiple cartilaginous exostoses.
[INFLUENCE FACTORS ANALYSIS OF SURGICAL EFFECTIVENESS FOR SOLITARY ENCHONDROMA OF HAND WITH PATHOLOGIC FRACTURE].

Abstract:OBJECTIVE:To expore the influence factors of the surgical effectiveness for solitary enchondroma of the hand with pathologic fracture.METHODS:A retrospective analysis was made on the clinical data of 65 patients with solitary enchondroma of the hand with pathologic fracture who were treated with operation and were accorded with selective standard between March 2010 and June 2013. There were 26 males and 39 females, aged 17 to 63 years (mean, 36 years). The left hands were involved in 32 cases and the right hands in 33 cases. The tumor located at the metacarpus in 18 cases, and at the phalanx in 47 cases (at the proximal phalanx in 30 cases, at the middle phalanx in 9 cases, and at the distal phalanx in 8 cases). The duration from fracture to operation was 2 days to 2 years (mean, 56 days). The operative methods were curettage and bone grafting. The ratios of the total active range of motion (ROM) of the metacarpophalangeal joint and interphalangeal joint between ipsilateral and contralateral fingers were used to evaluate the ipsilateral fingers' function. The time of returning to work was recorded. The multiple linear regressions were performed to analyze the risk factors of the effectiveness.RESULTS:A total of 65 cases were followed up 5-44 months (mean, 24 months). All incisions achieved primary healing. No infection, re-fracture, or recurrence occurred. The X-ray films showed fracture healing, the healing time was 5-10 weeks (mean, 6.5 weeks). All the bone grafts healed well. At last follow-up, the ROM ratio of the fingers was 0.46-1.00 (mean, 0.90). The time of returning to work was 92-180 days (mean, 130 days). Multiple linear regressions showed that internal fixation was risk factor for the ROM ratio of the fingers (P = 0.013). The duration from fracture to operation, internal fixation, and the tumor site were risk factors for the time of returning to work (P < 0.05).CONCLUSION:To obtain good effectiveness for patients with solitary enchondroma of the hand with pathologic fracture, it is suggested that immediate operative treatment including tumor curettage, open reduction, and internal fixation with plate and screws of the fracture.
Enchondroma in the Fibular Diaphysis: A Case Report

Abstract:Chondroma is a benign tumor formation that occurs through the proliferation of cartilaginous tissue. It can be located centrally (enchondroma) or peripherally, often appears between 10-30 years of age, and is commonly discovered incidentally. This case report describes a 46-year-old woman presenting with pain in the left calf and partial functional impotence. The onset of her symptoms was affirmatively marked by a mild skiing-related trauma. Following protocol, X-ray imaging (antero-posterior and lateral views) of the calf was performed, with the only finding being a solitary bony lesion, with internal calcifications, sclerotic margin and radiolucent internal matrix. Facing the uncertainty of diagnosis from a clinical and radiographic standpoint, it was decided to admit the patient for further evaluation and start the standard protocol of imaging investigations - computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, and bone scintigraphy - and determine the subsequent therapeutic behavior. Differential diagnosis between enchondroma and low-grade chondrosarcoma can be difficult due to their histopathological similarity. The therapy of choice in enchondroma comprises non-surgical treatment (observation) if the lesion remains unaltered in imaging, or curettage/filling with bone substitutes/allografts, but considering the advanced age and interruption of the bone cortex in our case, we opted for curative surgical treatment.
Enchondroma of the Foot

Abstract:The present study is a review of 20 patients with enchondroma of the foot treated from January 2005 to March 2012. All patients were examined clinically, followed by an evaluation of their enchondroma of the foot radiographically and an assessment of the outcome of their surgical intervention. The patients' sex and age, enchondroma location, findings from imaging studies such as plain radiography, computed tomography, and magnetic resonance imaging, clinical findings, operative findings, and treatment outcomes were recorded. The average postoperative follow-up period was 24 months. Eighty percent of the tumors were located in the proximal phalanx and 14 (70%) patients presented with pathologic fracture. The plain radiographs and computed tomography findings revealed 13 (65%) cases of internal calcification and 11 (55%) with endosteal scalloping. A periosteal reaction was seen only in 4 (20%) cases. Magnetic resonance imaging of 11 (55%) patients showed low T1-weighted and high T2-weighted signal intensity in all cases. Internal septa and nodules with low T2-weighted signal intensity were observed in 9 (82%) out of 11 cases, and adjacent soft tissue edema was noted in 9 (82%). All patients underwent curettage of the tumor and bone grafting as their surgical treatment. No recurrence or postoperative complications were observed during the 24-month follow-up period. Enchondroma of the foot most frequently involves the proximal phalangeal bone and is often associated with pathologic fracture. The unique clinical signs and characteristic radiographic images are easily recognized, making this a relatively easy diagnosis. With appropriate treatment, a good surgical outcome can be expected.

Abstract:Objective To probe the imaging features and treatment method for enchondroma in long tubular bones of extremities.Methods From February 1998 to February 2010,retrospective study was done in 10 cases of enchondroma confirmed by pathology.Plain radiography and CT were performed in all cases.The complete MRI were performed in 6 cases.Results All cases were solitary enchondroma.A capsular central lucency in the diaphysis with calcifications inside the lesions could be showed in all cases by plain radiography and CT.MRI showed low signal intensity on T1WI and mixed mainly high signal intensity on T2WI in 6 cases.There were no periosteal reaction and soft tissue density on all imaging findings.The accurate diagnosis of all cases had been made by the imaging findings.The 6 cases were cured by curettage and freezed allogenous cancellous bone grafting or autografts. The other cases adopted internal fixation else.All the patients were followed-up for more than 1 year until bones completely healed. There were no recurrence or metastasis.Conclusion The accurate diagnosis of enchondroma can be made by the plain radiography, CT and MRI.Operation should be performed as early as possible when diagnosis is confirmed.All cases have a good prognosis.

Abstract:The combination of decision structures has been proposed by numerous researchers in the behavioural analysis domain, and been shown to improve accuracy over network structures tested in isolation; however, the vast majority of researchers use a simplistic combination strategy, amounting to little more than bridging of the network structures. This paper introduces a fusion mechanism between Bayesian and Markovian networks, which provides the Markov states with additional low-level features. This hybrid approach affords users a simplified network structure and provides the basis for an automatic technique, which allows the transitional probabilities in the network to be learned during online running of the system without the need for a training phase. The hybrid technique is validated using two very different datasets and is shown to outperform a standard network approach tested.
Simple Curettage Without Bone Grafting for the Treatment of Enchondroma of the Hand: an Outcomes Analysis

Abstract:Objective To evaluate the results of simple curettage without bone grafting in the treatment of enchondroma of the hand. Methods Between July 2004 and December 2009, 13 patients with enchondroma of the hand were treated with simple curettage without bone grafting. Postoperative evaluations included the maximum bone diameter at the lesion site, active range of motion and X-ray changes of the involved fingers.Results All the patients were follow-up for 8 to 37 months, with an average of 21.3 months. New bone formation and remodeling of the lesions were observed in all the patients. The mean diameter of the lesion site bone decreased significantly. There was no impairment of joint function of the involved fingers with unchanged active range of motion.The results of radiographic appearance were assessed by applying Tordai' s classification of enchondroma of the hand. The final results were Tordai' s group 1 in 11 bones (84.6%) and group 2 in 2 bones (15.4%). There was no bone classified as group 3. During the follow-up periods, there were no pathological fractures and recurrence. Conclusion Simple curettage without bone grafting is a safe and effective treatment for enchondroma of the hand.

Abstract:Hybrid functional verification and debug systems which combine high execution speed of logic emulators and full observability and controllability of software simulators are widely used, but suffer from scalability problem since software simulators cannot handle large and complex System-on-chip (SoC) designs efficiently, restricting their application to only relatively small designs. This paper presents a completely scalable hybrid verification and debug system based on dynamically reconfigurable co-simulation. Unlike existing systems, it allows one or more component logic blocks of a SoC to run on simulator for debugging while rest of the design still runs on emulator. The full design under test (DUT) is run on emulator at near hardware speed for long test sequences, and on error detection one or more logic blocks are transparently switched over to simulation for debugging, initializing the system as a piecewise co-simulator. Logic blocks can be flexibly relocated between simulator and emulator dynamically, without going through time consuming design recompilation phase, allowing designers to quickly debug functional issues. Application of the system to verification of real complex designs shows the effectiveness of our approach.
Large enchondroma of the thoracic spine: a rare case report and review of the literature

Abstract:Background: Enchondroma, a subtype of chondroma, originates from the medullary cavity of the bone and produces an expansile growth pattern. Enchondroma located in the spine is rare and a few cases of large thoracic enchondroma have been reported. The authors document a rare case of large enchondroma in the thoracic spine of a 49-year-old woman, and discuss its clinical, radiological and histopathological characteristics. Case presentation: The patient presented with rapidly progressive and severe pain on her upper back. Magnetic resonance imaging revealed an expansile lesion at the posterior elements of T3 that was hypointense on T1-weighted images and mixed iso- to hyperintense on T2-weighted images. Administration of gadolinium-diethylenetriamine pentaacetic acid (Gd-DTPA) resulted in heterogeneous enhancement. During surgery, a large tumor of 4.2cm × 4.7cm × 2.1cm was resected along with the lamina and spinous process. Histological examination revealed that the tumor consisted of mature hyaline cartilage with typical chondrocytes, indicating that it was an enchondroma. Conclusions: Despite its benign-growing nature, enchondroma should be examined closely for signs of enchondromatosis and enchondrosarcoma. Complete surgical resection is the treatment of choice for immediate relief of symptoms and avoidance of recurrence.
Differences in Outcomes Based on the Degree to Which Bone Defects Are Filled with Cancellous Allochip Bone Grafts in Hand Enchondroma Patients

Abstract:Background/Objectives: Enchondroma, the most common benign cartilage tumor in the hand, often presents as pain, swelling, or pathological fractures. While curettage is the standard treatment preventing fractures, the optimal way of managing the bone cavity remains debated. In this study, we investigated the impact of a filled bone defect on radiologic and clinical outcomes among patients with enchondroma. Methods: We retrospectively reviewed patients with solitary enchondroma of the hand who underwent curettage followed by allogeneic cancellous bone chip impaction grafting. The patients were divided into two groups based on the extent to which their bone defects were filled post-curettage: Group 1 (complete filling) and Group 2 (incomplete filling, i.e., <50%). We reviewed demographic data, local recurrence data, complications, information on consolidation duration, data on range of motion (ROM), and functional scores. Results: This study included 59 patients (25 males and 34 females; mean age, 30.4 ± 11.9 years, with a range of 8–78). Group 1 contained 35 patients, and Group 2 contained 24. No nonunion occurred following curettage and grafting. The mean radiological consolidation period was 6.4 weeks (range: 5–18). There was no significant difference in consolidation time between Group 1 (6.8 weeks) and Group 2 (6.9 weeks) (p = 0.166). The ROM and functional scores also showed no significant differences between the groups, with musculoskeletal society scores of 98.8 for Group 1 and 99.8 for Group 2 (p = 0.63). Conclusions: This study demonstrates that the use of the impaction technique combined with cancellous allochip bone grafting yields favorable results in the treatment of solitary hand enchondroma. The extent to which the bone defect was filled did not significantly impact the overall outcomes.

Tumorous Conditions of the Hand: A Retrospective Review of 402 Cases

Abstract:Objective: Knowledge concerning treatment and care of hand lesions is often based on small case series, case reports and a few large general case series. The aim of this study is to present our experience with hand tumors' and tumor-like lesions' incidence, age range and localizations. Material and method: Between 2006-2016, 402 patients operated and histopathologically diagnosed with bone and soft tissue tumorous conditions of the hand were evaluated retrospectively. Results: Three hundred sixty one out of 402 cases (89.8%) were soft tissue tumors and 41 cases (10.2%) were osseous tumors of the hand. A total of 10 malignant tumors (2.5%) were encountered in the hand. The average age of the patients was 41.9 years (ranged from 1 to 83 years). Among 361 soft tissue tumors, only 6 cases (1.6%) were malignant and they were squamous cell tumors (n=5) and synovial sarcoma (n=1). The most common soft tissue pathology was ganglion cyst (n=125). The most common bone tumor was enchondroma, diagnosed in 26 patients (6.4% of all patients). Primary malignant bone tumors were extremely rare in the hand; one osteosarcoma and one chondrosarcoma were reported. Metastatic tumors to the hand were seen in two patients; and they were lung carcinoma and chondrosarcoma metastasis. Conclusion: Up-date knowledge and a thorough understanding of the nature and demographic characteristics of the tumorous conditions of the hand are crucial for accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment.
Familial Giant Enchondroma of Thoracic Spine: A Rare Manifestation of a Rare Disease

Abstract:We present a rare case of spinal enchondromatosis in a 15-year-old boy. The patient presented with spastic paraparesis. He also had multiple bony swellings over the long bones. On inquiry it was found that his father had enchondromatosis. Such a familial form of enchondromatosis has not been previously described in the literature.
Enchondroma In The Distal Phalanx Of The Thumb With Infection Resulting In Clubbing Felon

Abstract:Background: Enchondroma in the distal phalanx was very rare. It was difficult to be diagnosed for lack of typical clinical symptoms. Case presentation: We present a case of clubbing felon in an adult patient diagnosed with enchondroma and infection in the distal phalanx of thumb. Local doctor diagnosed it as a "felon" associated with paronychia and who ignored the devastating tumor. Preoperative x-Ray indicated the typical expansile lytic lesion with thinning bone cortex. bone necrosis was present during operation. Pathological diagnosis was enchondroma. The effective treatment of infection, sufficient drainage and application of artificial bone grafting made it easy to achieve a good postoperative result. Two years after surgery, there was no tumor recurrence. Conclusions: Enchondroma in the distal phalanx that may present a "clubbing felon". Timely recognition and appropriate treatment can gain a good result.

Abstract:The term chondroma refers to a slow-growing benign tumor. When the tumor arises from the medullary cavity, it is referred to as enchondroma, which is a very common bone tumor. However, if it arises from soft tissues, which is extremely rare, it is referred to as soft tissue chondroma or extraskeletal chondroma. Extraskeletal chondromas are uncommon; benign soft tissue tumors that mostly originate from hyaline cartilage are unrelated to the periosteum, tendon, or bone. The most common sites include fingers and toes. The frequent presentation is a slow-growing, firm, painless, and occasionally tender soft tissue mass. Morphologically, it exhibits lobular structures of hyaline cartilage, and hence it becomes difficult to differentiate it from low-grade chondrosarcoma, so the alarming sign of differentiation becomes a must. Recurrence is possible if it is incompletely removed. Complete removal with the capsule is a must to avoid recurrence. Immunohistochemistry remains the cornerstone for a definite diagnosis when S100 protein and vimentin show positivity for tumor cells and the proliferation index (Ki67%) is low. In this study, we present a very uncommon case of a 30-year-old patient with soft tissue chondromatosis of the palmer aspect of the index finger and palm.
Excipient crystallinity and its protein‐structure‐stabilizing effect during freeze‐drying

Abstract:The relationship between mannitol crystallization during freeze‐drying and its effects on stabilizing protein structures was studied using lysozyme, bovine serum albumin, ovalbumin, β‐lactoglobulin and lactate dehydrogenase as model proteins. FT‐IR analysis of the protein secondary structure indicated perturbation of both α‐helix and β‐sheet regions in freeze‐drying without cosolutes, whereas the proteins retained most of their native structure in co‐lyophilization with sucrose. Mannitol protected the protein structure to different degrees depending on the crystallinity. The combination of mannitol with potassium phosphate buffer reduced the mannitol crystallinity and the structural changes occurring during freeze‐drying, whereas mannitol by itself showed little stabilizing effect. Heat‐treatment of the frozen solutions at −10°C resulted in a higher mannitol crystallinity and a smaller stabilizing effect in freeze‐drying. The secondary structure perturbation was mostly reversible in rehydrated solutions. The varied structure‐stabilizing effects of mannitol paralleled its effects on maintaining lower concentrations of enzyme activity during freeze‐drying. These results confirm the contribution of molecular interactions between amorphous excipients and proteins (e.g. hydrogen bonding) to structure stabilization during freeze‐drying.
Phalangeal Intra-Articular Osteochondroma Caused a Rare Clinodactyly Deformity in Children: Case Series and Literature Review

Abstract:Background Various factors are discovered in the development of clinodactyly. The purpose of this retrospective study was to present a group of children with a rare clinodactyly deformity caused by phalangeal intra-articular osteochondroma and evaluate the efficacy of various treatment methods. Methods All child patients that were treated for finger problems in our center between Jan 2017 and Dec 2020 were reviewed. A detailed analysis was made of the diagnosis and treatment methods in eight rare cases. X-rays and histopathology were applied. Results A preliminary analysis of 405 patients in total was performed, and we included eight cases in our final analysis. This cohort consisted of 2 girls and 6 boys, with a mean age of 5.74 ± 3.22 years (range: 2y5m to 11y). Overall, four patients had their right hand affected and four patients had their left hand affected. One patient was diagnosed as having hereditary multiple osteochondroma (HMO) while the other seven patients were all grouped into solitary osteochondroma. Osteochondroma was proven in all of them by histopathology examination. Preoperative X-rays were used to allow identification and surgery planning in all cases. All osteochondromas were intra-articular and in the distal end of the phalanges, which is located opposite the epiphyseal growth area. All of the osteochondromas developed in half side of the phalanges. The angulation in the finger long axis was measured, and resulted in a mean angulation of 34.63 ± 24.93 degree (range: 10.16-88.91 degree). All of them received surgery, resulting in good appearance and fingers straightening. No recurrence was recorded. Conclusions This retrospective analysis indicates that 10 degrees can be selected as the angulation level for diagnosis of clinodactyly deformities. What’s more important, the abnormal mass proven by X-rays should be included as the classical direct sign for diagnosis. The first choice of treatment is surgery in symptomatic osteochondromas.

Abstract:The homology model of major haemoglobin component HbA1 of the African Clawed Frog was predicted using the pigeon (Columba livia) haemoglobin as a template. The model was built with the help of MODELLER9v8. The models were evaluated with ProSA and PROCHECK. In X. laevis Gln38α is unable to form a hydrogen bond with β97His or β99Asp, which is responsible for the increase in oxygen affinity of the Xenopus HbA1. The hydrogen bond between α34Thr and β124Pro, which stabilises the deoxy state of the haemoglobin, was absent in X. laevis. Hence it is predicted that the HbA1 component of X. laevis has higher oxygen affinity.

Abstract:Hintergrund Die Madelung-Deformität ist eine angeborene oder erworbene Wachstumsstörung des Unterarmes, die für betroffene Patienten mit erheblichen Einschränkungen der Lebensqualität einhergehen kann. In der Literatur wurden verschiedene Möglichkeiten der operativen Therapie der Erkrankung beschrieben. Mit der vorliegenden Studie sollte der Frage nachgegangen werden, ob die Physiolyse mit Resektion des Vickers-Bandes die Progredienz der Erkrankung in einem eigenen jungen Patientenkollektiv erfolgreich aufhalten konnte, wie es anhand der bisherigen Literatur zu diesem Thema zu erwarten wäre. Material und Methoden Die Akten aller Patienten mit Madelung-Deformität, die zwischen Januar 2001 und Juni 2017 primär mit einer Physiolyse mit Resektion des Vickers-Bandes behandelt worden sind, wurden retrospektiv ausgewertet. Die Patienten wurden zu einer Nachuntersuchung eingeladen und bezüglich des OP-Outcomes untersucht. Erhoben wurden Schmerzen in Ruhe und unter Belastung, der Bewegungsumfang der Handgelenke und das Aktivitätsniveau. Zudem wurden von jedem operierten Handgelenk Röntgenbilder in zwei Ebenen angefertigt und radiologische Messungen durchgeführt. Die so erhobenen Daten wurden mit den Daten aus den Patientenakten verglichen. Ergebnisse 9 Handgelenke wurden eingeschlossen. Das Durchschnittsalter zum Zeitpunkt der Operation lag bei 13,2 Jahren, der durchschnittliche Nachbeobachtungszeitraum betrug 5,0 Jahre. Die Extension und Ulnarduktion nahmen von präoperativ bis zur Nachuntersuchung leicht ab, während sich die Beugung minimal sowie die Radialduktion und die Unterarmdrehung erkennbar verbesserten. Der Punktwert für Ruheschmerzen auf der visuellen Analogskala stieg von präoperativ 0,25 Punkten auf 1,88 Punkte zum Zeitpunkt der Nachuntersuchung. Unter Belastung stieg der durchschnittliche Punktwert für Schmerzen von 2,00 auf 4,25 Punkte. Der mittlere DASH-Score stieg von 6,04 Punkten vor der Operation auf 12,20 Punkte zum Zeitpunkt der Nachuntersuchung. Die Durchschnittswerte von zwei der fünf gemessenen McCarroll-Parameter stiegen an, im Fall der Absenkung des Os Lunatum statistisch signifikant. Bei einem Handgelenk war ein Folgeeingriffe erforderlich. Schlussfolgerung Die Progredienz der Madelung-Deformität konnte in unserem Kollektiv durch die Physiolyse mit Resektion des Vickers-Bandes nur teilweise aufgehalten und eine signifikante Zunahme der Schmerzsymptomatik im Untersuchungszeitraum nicht vermieden werden. Bei Patienten, die vor Abschluss ihres Längenwachstums stehen, sollte dieses Verfahren daher mit Zurückhaltung eingesetzt werden. Background Madelung's deformity is a congenital or acquired growth disorder of the forearm that can lead to significant impairments in the quality of life of affected patients. Various surgical treatment options for the condition have been described in the literature. This study aimed to investigate whether physiolysis with resection of the Vickers ligament can successfully halt the progression of the disease in a cohort of young patients, as would be expected based on existing literature on this topic. Material and Methods An analysis was performed on the records of all patients with Madelung's deformity who were primarily treated with physiolysis with resection of the Vickers ligament between January 2001 and June 2017. Patients were invited for follow-up examinations, and surgical outcome was assessed. Parameters evaluated included pain at rest and under load, range of motion of the wrists, and activity level. Additionally, standard X-rays and radiological measurements were performed for each operated wrist. The collected data was compared with the preoperative data from patient records. Results Nine wrists were included in the study. The average age at the time of surgery was 13.2 years, and the average follow-up period was five years. -Abstract Truncated-
