Abstract:Stripe rust, caused by Puccinia striiformis f. sp. tritici (Pst), is one of the most severe diseases of wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) worldwide. Identification and characterization of resistance genes is advantageous to cultivating wheat varieties with durable resistance, which is the most economic and effective strategy to control stripe rust. Flanders, a common wheat cultivar released in France in 1986, confers effective resistance to stripe rust both at the seedling and adult plant stages. To elucidate the genetic basis of resistance in Flanders, F1, F2, and F2:3 generations derived from the cross Mingxian169 × Flanders were evaluated with the most prevalent Chinese Pst race CYR33 at the seedling stage. Inheritance analysis showed that the stripe rust resistance of Flanders was controlled by a single dominant gene, temporarily designated as YrFL. Bulked segregant analysis (BSA) combined with a wheat 660K single-nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) array indicated that polymorphic SNP markers were mainly located in the 0 to 150 Mb on wheat chromosome 5A. One hundred and eleven kompetitive allele-specific PCR (KASP) and 39 simple sequence repeat (SSR) markers on chromosome 5A were used to locate the YrFL. Linkage analysis mapped YrFL with 19 KASP and three SSR markers on wheat chromosome 5AS, and the genetic distances of the closest flanking markers AX108925494 and Xbarc56 to YrFL were 0.6 and 2.0 cM, respectively. Chromosome location, resistance characterization, and molecular marker positions indicated that YrFL is likely a novel stripe rust resistance gene on wheat chromosome 5AS and could be pyramided with other resistance genes to improve resistance in wheat breeding programs.

Abstract:A new stripe rust resistance gene YrBDT in Chinese landrace wheat Baidatou was mapped to a 943.6-kb interval on chromosome arm 6DS and co-segregated with a marker CAPS3 developed from candidate gene TraesCS6D03G0027300. Stripe rust caused by Puccinia striiformis f. sp. tritici (Pst) is a devastating foliar disease of wheat. Chinese landrace wheat Baidatou has shown high resistance to a broad spectrum of Pst races at both the seedling and adult-plant stages for decades in the Longnan region of Gansu province, a hot spot for stripe rust epidemics. Here, we report fine mapping and candidate gene analysis of stripe rust resistance gene YrBDT in Baidatou. Analysis of F1, F2 plants and F2:3 lines indicated that resistance in Baidatou to Pst race CYR31 was conferred by a single dominant gene, temporarily designated YrBDT. Bulked segregant exome capture sequencing (BSE-seq) analysis revealed 61 high-confidence polymorphic SNPs concentrated in a 5.4-Mb interval at the distal of chromosome arm 6DS. Several SNPs and InDels were also identified by genome mining of DNA sampled from the parents and contrasting bulks. The YrBDT locus was mapped to a 943.6-kb (4,658,322-5,601,880 bp) genomic region spanned by markers STS2 and STS3 based on IWGSC RefSeq v2.1, including five putative disease resistance genes. There was high collinearity of the target interval among Chinese Spring RefSeq v2.1, Ae. tauschii AL8/78 and Fielder genomes. The expression level of TraesCS6D03G0027300 showed significant association with Pst infection, and a gene-specific marker CAPS3 developed from TraesCS6D03G0027300 co-segregated with YrBDT suggesting this gene as a candidate of YrBDT. The resistance gene and flanking markers can be used in marker-assisted selection for improvement of stripe rust resistance.

The patient complains of itchy and sore sensations. The offending drug has usually been administered within the last 12 h. Drugs that have most often been implicated include tetracycline, paracetamol, cotrimoxazole, hydroxyzine, and methylphenidate. Penile injections of certain substances (like mineral oil) may cause localized swellings at the injection sites due to granuloma formation (foreign body reaction). Abstract:Stripe rust, caused by Puccinia striiformis f. sp. tritici ( Pst ), is one of the most widespread and destructive fungal diseases of wheat worldwide. The cultivation and growth of resistant wheat varieties are the most economical, effective, and environmental friendly methods to control stripe rust. Therefore, it is necessary to use new resistance genes to breed resistant wheat varieties. A single dominant gene temporarily designated as YrM8664-3 , from a wheat- Leymus mollis introgression line M8664-3 highly resistant to Chinese predominant Pst races, is a potentially valuable source of stripe rust resistance for breeding. Herein, based on previous YrM8664-3 chromosome location results (bin 4AL13-0.59-0.66 close to 4AL12-0.43-0.59) and expression change information of candidate genes and bioinformatics analysis, several candidate genes with significantly different expression changes were then selected and verified by virus-induced gene silencing (VIGS). Two of the candidate genes temporarily designated as TaFBN [containing plastid lipid-associated proteins (PAP)_fibrillin domain in its protein] and Ta_Pes_BRCT [containing Pescadillo and breast cancer tumour suppressor protein C-terminus (BRCT) domain in its protein], produced the most significant resistance changes in the wheat- Pst interaction system after silencing. These two genes were further verified by Agrobacterium -mediated wheat genetic transformation technology. According to the identification of disease resistance, the resistance function of the candidate gene TaFBN was further verified. Then, the expression of TaFBN under hormone treatment indicated that TaFBN may be related to the salicylic acid (SA) and abscisic acid (ABA) signaling pathways. Combined with the expression of TaFBN in response to environmental stress stimulation, it can be reasonably speculated that TaFBN plays an important role in the resistance of wheat to Pst and is involved in abiotic stress pathways.

Abstract:Stripe rust (caused by Puccinia striiformis f. sp. tritici ) is one of the most severe diseases affecting wheat production. The disease is best controlled by developing and growing resistant cultivars. Chinese wheat ( Triticum aestivum ) landraces have excellent resistance to stripe rust. The objectives of this study were to identify wheat landraces with stable resistance and map quantitative trait loci (QTL) for resistance to stripe rust from 271 Chinese wheat landraces using a genome-wide association study (GWAS) approach. The landraces were phenotyped for stripe rust responses at the seedling stage with two predominant Chinese races of P. striiformis f. sp. tritici in a greenhouse and the adult-plant stage in four field environments and genotyped using the 660K wheat single-nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) array. Thirteen landraces with stable resistance were identified, and 17 QTL, including eight associated to all-stage resistance and nine to adult-plant resistance, were mapped on chromosomes 1A, 1B, 2A, 2D, 3A, 3B, 5A, 5B, 6D, and 7A. These QTL explained 6.06–16.46% of the phenotypic variation. Five of the QTL, QYrCL.sicau-3AL , QYrCL.sicau-3B.4 , QYrCL.sicau-3B.5 , QYrCL.sicau-5AL.1 and QYrCL.sicau-7AL , were likely new. Five Kompetitive allele specific PCR (KASP) markers for four of the QTL were converted from the significant SNP markers. The identified wheat landraces with stable resistance to stripe rust, significant QTL, and KASP markers should be useful for breeding wheat cultivars with durable resistance to stripe rust.

Abstract:Two major QTL for resistance to stripe rust were mapped on chromosome 2BL and 4BL in spring wheat PI 660072, and their KASP markers were developed. Stripe rust, caused by Puccinia striiformis f. sp. tritici (Pst), is one of the most devastating diseases of wheat worldwide. Identifying resistance genes is crucial for developing resistant cultivars to control the disease. Spring wheat PI 660072 (Triticum aestivum) has been identified to possess both adult-plant resistance (APR) and all-stage resistance (ASR) to stripe rust. To elucidate the genetic basis of the resistance in PI 660072, a mapping population consisting of 211 F5-F7 recombinant-inbred lines (RILs) was developed from a cross of PI 660072 with susceptible spring wheat Avocet S. The mapping population was phenotyped for stripe rust responses across five field environments from 2020 to 2022 and genotyped using the 15 K SNP (single nucleotide polymorphism) array to map stripe rust resistance loci. The mapping population was also tested at the seedling stage with predominant Chinese Pst races CYR31, CYR32, CYR34 and PST-YX1-3-1 in the greenhouse. Stripe rust resistance genes were identified using the quantitative trait locus (QTL) mapping approach. Two QTL were identified with QYrPI660072.swust-2BL mapped on the long arm of chromosome 2B for ASR and QYrPI660072.swust-4BL on the long arm of chromosome 4B for APR. To facilitate marker-assisted selection breeding, Kompetitive allele specific PCR (KASP) markers, KASP-1269 for QYrPI660072.swust-2BL and KASP-3209 for QYrPI660072.swust-4BL, were developed. These markers could be used to introgress the effective resistance QTL into new wheat cultivars.

Abstract:Abstract Background Stripe rust, caused by the fungal pathogen Puccinia striiformis f. sp. tritici ( Pst ), is a serious foliar disease of wheat. Identification of novel stripe rust resistance genes and cultivation of resistant cultivars are considered to be the most effective approaches to control this disease. In this study, we evaluated the infection type (IT), disease severity (DS) and area under the disease progress curve (AUDPC) of 143 Chinese wheat landrace accessions for stripe rust resistance. Assessments were undertaken in five environments at the adult-plant stage with Pst mixture races under field conditions. In addition, IT was assessed at the seedling stage with two prevalent Pst races (CYR32 and CYR34) under a controlled greenhouse environment. Results Seventeen accessions showed stable high-level resistance to stripe rust across all environments in the field tests. Four accessions showed resistance to the Pst races CYR32 and CYR34 at the seedling stage. Combining phenotypic data from the field and greenhouse trials with 6404 markers that covered the entire genome, we detected 17 quantitative trait loci (QTL) on 11 chromosomes for IT associated with seedling resistance and 15 QTL on seven chromosomes for IT, final disease severity (FDS) or AUDPC associated with adult-plant resistance. Four stable QTL detected on four chromosomes, which explained 9.99–23.30% of the phenotypic variation, were simultaneously associated with seedling and adult-plant resistance. Integrating a linkage map of stripe rust resistance in wheat, 27 QTL overlapped with previously reported genes or QTL, whereas four and one QTL conferring seedling and adult-plant resistance, respectively, were mapped distantly from previously reported stripe rust resistance genes or QTL and thus may be novel resistance loci. Conclusions Our results provided an integrated overview of stripe rust resistance resources in a wheat landrace diversity panel from the southern autumn-sown spring wheat zone of China. The identified resistant accessions and resistance loci will be useful in the ongoing effort to develop new wheat cultivars with strong resistance to stripe rust.

Abstract:Stripe rust, caused by Puccinia striiformis f. sp. tritici (Pst), is one of the most destructive diseases of wheat worldwide. The disease is most preferably managed by developing and growing cultivars with high-level, durable resistance. To achieve high-level and long-lasting resistance, we developed a wheat line, RIL-Yr64/Yr15, by pyramiding Yr64 and Yr15, both on the chromosome 1BS and providing high resistance to all tested Pst races. To validate RIL-Yr64/Yr15 possessing both genes, we crossed it to Avocet S (AvS). The F4 RILs from this cross were phenotyped with Pst races under controlled greenhouse conditions and also under natural Pst infection in the field. The population was genotyped with SSR markers previously reported to be linked to the resistance gene loci and with additional SSR and SNP-KASP markers along chromosome 1B. Both phenotype and genotype data confirmed the copresence of Yr64 and Yr15 in RIL-Yr64/Yr15, and the high-resolution linkage map dissected the chromosomal regions and traced their origins. New lines possessing these genes were selected from the F5 population of cross AvS × RIL-Yr64/Yr15 by marker-assisted selection. These lines with the two highly effective genes should be more useful than individual gene lines for developing high-level, durable resistant wheat cultivars.

Abstract:The rust resistance genes Lr53 and Yr35 were introgressed into bread wheat from Aegilops longissima or Aegilops sharonensis or their S-genome containing species and mapped to the telomeric region of chromosome arm 6BS. Wheat leaf and stripe rusts are damaging fungal diseases of wheat worldwide. Breeding for resistance is a sustainable approach to control these two foliar diseases. In this study, we used SNP analysis, sequence comparisons, and cytogenetic assays to determine that the chromosomal segment carrying Lr53 and Yr35 was originated from Ae.longissima or Ae. sharonensis or their derived species. In seedling tests, Lr53 conferred strong resistance against all five Chinese Pt races tested, and Yr35 showed effectiveness against Pst race CYR34 but susceptibility to race CYR32. Using a large population (3892 recombinant gametes) derived from plants homozygous for the ph1b mutation obtained from the cross 98M71 × CSph1b, both Lr53 and Yr35 were successfully mapped to a 6.03-Mb telomeric region of chromosome arm 6BS in the Chinese Spring reference genome v1.1. Co-segregation between Lr53 and Yr35 was observed within this large mapping population. Within the candidate region, several nucleotide-binding leucine-rich repeat genes and protein kinases were identified as candidate genes. Marker pku6B3127 was completely linked to both genes and accurately predicted the absence or presence of alien segment harboring Lr53 and Yr35 in 87 tetraploid and 149 hexaploid wheat genotypes tested. We developed a line with a smaller alien segment (< 6.03 Mb) to reduce any potential linkage drag and demonstrated that it conferred resistance levels similar to those of the original donor parent 98M71. The newly developed introgression line and closely linked PCR markers will accelerate the deployment of Lr53 and Yr35 in wheat breeding programs.

Abstract:Stripe rust, caused by Puccinia striiformis f. sp. tritici ( Pst ), is a serious disease that affects wheat worldwide. There is a great need to develop cultivars with combinations of all-stage resistance (ASR) and adult-plant resistance (APR) genes for sustainable control of the disease. QYrsv.swust-1BL in the Italian durum wheat ( Triticum turgidum ssp. durum ) cultivar Svevo is effective against Pst races in China and Israel, and the gene has been previously mapped to the long arm of chromosome 1B. The gene is flanked by SNP (single nucleotide polymorphism) markers IWB5732 and IWB4839 (0.75 cM). In the present study, we used high-density 660K SNP array genotyping and the phenotypes of 137 recombinant inbred lines (RILs) to fine map the QYrsv.swust-1BL locus within a 1.066 Mb region in durum wheat Svevo (RefSeq Rel. 1.0) on chromosome arm 1BL. The identified 1.066 Mb region overlaps with a previously described map of Yr29/QYr.ucw-1BL , a stripe rust APR gene. Twenty-five candidate genes for QYrsv.swut-1BL were identified through comparing polymorphic genes within the 1.066 Mb region in the resistant cultivar. SNP markers were selected and converted to Kompetitive allele-specific polymerase chain reaction (KASP) markers. Five KASP markers based on SNP were validated in a F 2 and F 2:3 breeding population, providing further compelling evidence for the significant effects of QYrsv.swut-1BL . These markers should be useful in marker-assisted selection for incorporating Yr29/QYrsv.swust-1BL into new durum and common wheat cultivars for resistance to stripe rust.

Abstract:Abstract Background Stripe rust (yellow rust) is a significant disease for bread wheat ( Triticum aestivum L.) worldwide. A genome-wide association study was conducted on 240 Chinese wheat cultivars and elite lines genotyped with the wheat 90 K single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) arrays to decipher the genetic architecture of stripe rust resistance in Chinese germplasm. Results Stripe rust resistance was evaluated at the adult plant stage in Pixian and Xindu in Sichuan province in the 2015–2016 cropping season, and in Wuhan in Hubei province in the 2013–2014, 2016–2017 and 2018–2019 cropping seasons. Twelve stable loci for stripe rust resistance were identified by GWAS using TASSEL and GAPIT software. These loci were distributed on chromosomes 1B, 1D, 2A, 2B, 3A, 3B, 4B (3), 4D, 6D, and 7B and explained 3.6 to 10.3% of the phenotypic variation. Six of the loci corresponded with previously reported genes/QTLs, including Sr2/Yr30/Lr27 , while the other six ( QYr.hbaas-1BS , QYr.hbaas-2BL , QYr.hbaas-3AL , QYr.hbaas-4BL.3 , QYr.hbaas-4DL , and QYr.hbaas-6DS ) are probably novel. The results suggest high genetic diversity for stripe rust resistance in this population. The resistance alleles of QYr.hbaas-2AS , QYr.hbaas-3BS , QYr.hbaas-4DL , and QYr.hbaas-7BL were rare in the present panel, indicating their potential use in breeding for stripe rust resistance in China. Eleven penta-primer amplification refractory mutation system (PARMS) markers were developed from SNPs significantly associated with seven mapped QTLs. Twenty-seven genes were predicted for mapped QTLs. Six of them were considered as candidates for their high relative expression levels post-inoculation. Conclusion The resistant germplasm, mapped QTLs, and PARMS markers developed in this study are resources for enhancing stripe rust resistance in wheat breeding.

Rapid identification of a stripe rust resistant gene in a space-induced wheat mutant using specific locus amplified fragment (SLAF) sequencing

Abstract:Stripe rust, caused by Puccinia striiformis f. sp. tritici (Pst), is one of the most devastating diseases of wheat. Resistant cultivars are the preferred strategy to control the disease. Space-induced wheat mutant R39 has adult-plant resistance (APR) to Pst. Genetic analysis indicated that a single recessive gene, designated YrR39, was responsible for the APR of R39 to Pst. Bulked segregant analysis (BSA) combined with a SLAF sequencing (SLAF-seq) strategy was used to fine-map YrR39 to a 17.39 Mb segment on chromosome 4B. The region was confirmed by analysis with simple sequence repeat (SSR) markers. A total of 126 genes were annotated in the region and 21 genes with annotations associated with disease response were selected for further qRT-PCR analysis. The candidate gene Traes_4BS_C868349E1 (annotated as an F-box/LRR-repeat protein) was up-regulated after 12, 24, 48, and 96 hours post inoculation with Pst, suggesting it is likely involved in the resistance. Genome-Wide Linkage Mapping of QTL for Adult-Plant Resistance to Stripe Rust in a Chinese Wheat Population Linmai 2 × Zhong 892

Abstract:Stripe rust is one of the most devastating diseases of wheat (Triticum aestivum) worldwide. Adult-plant resistance (APR) is an efficient approach to provide long-term protection of wheat from the disease. The Chinese winter wheat cultivar Zhong 892 has a moderate level of APR to stripe rust in the field. To determine the inheritance of the APR resistance in this cultivar, 273 F6 recombinant inbred lines (RILs) were developed from a cross between Linmai 2 and Zhong 892. The RILs were evaluated for maximum disease severity (MDS) in two sites during the 2011-2012, 2012-2013 and 2013-2014 cropping seasons, providing data for five environments. Illumina 90k SNP (single nucleotide polymorphism) chips were used to genotype the RILs and their parents. Composite interval mapping (CIM) detected eight QTL, namely QYr.caas-2AL, QYr.caas-2BL.3, QYr.caas-3AS, QYr.caas-3BS, QYr.caas-5DL, QYr.caas-6AL, QYr.caas-7AL and QYr.caas-7DS.1, respectively. All except QYr.caas-2BL.3 resistance alleles were contributed by Zhong 892. QYr.caas-3AS and QYr.caas-3BS conferred stable resistance to stripe rust in all environments, explaining 6.2-17.4% and 5.0-11.5% of the phenotypic variances, respectively. The genome scan of SNP sequences tightly linked to QTL for APR against annotated proteins in wheat and related cereals genomes identified two candidate genes (autophagy-related gene and disease resistance gene RGA1), significantly associated with stripe rust resistance. These QTL and their closely linked SNP markers, in combination with kompetitive allele specific PCR (KASP) technology, are potentially useful for improving stripe rust resistances in wheat breeding.

Abstract:Wheat stripe rust is a destructive disease in many cool and temperate regions around the world. Exploiting novel sources of resistance can provide wheat cultivars with robust and durable resistance to stripe rust. The wheat– Thinopyrum intermedium addition line TAI-14 was proven to carry a stripe rust resistance gene (named as YrT14 ) on the alien Th. intermedium chromosome. In order to transfer the resistance gene to wheat, wheat– Th. intermedium translocation lines were created by irradiating the pollen of the line TAI-14. We totally obtained 153 wheat– Th. intermedium translocation lines, among which the long alien segmental translocation line Zhongke 78 and the intercalary translocation line Zhongke 15 not only showed good integrated agronomic traits but also were identified as highly resistant to stripe rust in both seedling and adult plant stages. The alien chromatin in Zhongke 15 was identified as an insertion into the satellite of chromosome 6B, a type of translocation never reported before in chromosome engineering. By screening Simple Sequence Repeat (SSR) and Expressed Sequence Tag (EST) markers as well as the markers developed from RNA-sequencing (RNA-Seq) data, 14 markers were identified specific for the alien chromosome and a physical map was constructed. Both Zhongke 78 and Zhongke 15 could be used as a novel source of stripe rust resistance for wheat breeding, and the linked marker T14K50 can be used for molecular marker–assisted breeding. Finally, based on the karyotype, reaction to stripe rust, and genome resequencing data of different wheat– Th. intermedium translocation lines, the stripe rust resistance gene YrT14 was located to an 88.1 Mb interval from 636.7 to 724.8 Mb on Th. intermedium chromosome 19 corresponding to 7J or 7J s .

Abstract:Wheat stripe (yellow) rust is a worldwide disease that seriously reduces wheat grain yield and quality. Adult-plant resistance (APR) to stripe rust is generally more durable but usually controlled by multiple genes with partial resistance. In this study, a recombinant inbred line population was developed from a cross between a Chinese wheat landrace, Tutoumai, with APR to stripe rust, and a highly susceptible wheat cultivar, Siyang 936. The population was genotyped by genotyping-by-sequencing and phenotyped for APR to stripe rust in four consecutive field experiments. Three QTLs, QYr.sdau-1BL, QYr.sdau-5BL, and QYr.sdau-6BL, were identified for APR to stripe rust, and explained 8.0–21.2%, 10.1–22.7%, and 11.6–18.0% of the phenotypic variation, respectively. QYr.sdau-1BL was further mapped to a 21.6 Mb region using KASP markers derived from SNPs identified by RNA-seq of the two parents. In the QYr.sdau-1BL region, 13 disease-resistance-related genes were differently expressed between the two parents, and therefore were considered as the putative candidates of QYr.sdau-1BL. This study provides favorable gene/QTL and high-throughput markers to breeding programs for marker-assisted selection of the wheat stripe rust APR genes.

Abstract:Stripe rust is a serious wheat disease occurring worldwide. At present, the most effective way to control it is to grow resistant cultivars. In this study, a population of 221 recombinant inbred lines (RILs) derived via single-seed descent from a hybrid of a susceptible wheat line, SY95-71, and a resistant line, XK502, was tested in three crop seasons from 2022 to 2024 in five environments. A genetic linkage map was constructed using 12,577 single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs). Based on the phenotypic data of infection severity and the linkage map, five quantitative trait loci (QTL) for adult plant resistance (APR) were detected using the inclusive composite interval mapping (ICIM) method. These five loci are QYrxk502.swust-1BL, QYrxk502.swust-2BL, QYrxk502.swust-3AS, QYrxk502.swust-3BS, and QYrxk502.swust-7BS, explaining 5.67–19.64%, 9.63–36.74%, 9.58–11.30%, 9.76–23.98%, and 8.02–12.41% of the phenotypic variation, respectively. All these QTL originated from the resistant parent XK502. By comparison with the locations of known stripe rust resistance genes, three of the detected QTL, QYrxk502.swust-3AS, QYrxk502.swust-3BS, and QYrxk502.swust-7BS, may harbor new, unidentified genes. From among the tested RILs, 16 lines were selected with good field stripe rust resistance and acceptable agronomic traits for inclusion in breeding programs.

Abstract:Winter wheat cultivar Pindong 34 has both adult-plant resistance (APR) and all-stage resistance (ASR) to stripe rust, which is caused by Puccinia striiformis f. sp. tritici ( Pst ). To map the quantitative trait loci (QTL) for stripe rust resistance, an F 6−10 recombinant inbred line (RIL) population from a cross of Mingxian 169 × Pingdong 34 was phenotyped for stripe rust response over multiple years in fields under natural infection conditions and with selected Pst races under controlled greenhouse conditions, and genotyping was performed with a 90K single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) array chip. Inclusive composite interval mapping (ICIM) identified 12 APR resistance QTLs and 3 ASR resistance QTLs. Among the 12 APR resistance QTLs, QYrpd.swust-1BL (explaining 9.24–13.33% of the phenotypic variation), QYrpd.swust-3AL.1 (11.41–14.80%), QYrpd.swust - 3AL.2 (11.55–16.10%), QYrpd.swust-6BL (9.39–12.78%), QYrpd.swust-6DL (9.52–16.36%), QYrpd.swust-7AL (9.09–17.0%), and QYrpd.swust-7DL (8.87–11.38%) were more abundant than in the five tested environments and QYrpd.swust-1AS (11.05–12.72%), QYrpd.swust-1DL (9.81–13.05%), QYrpd.swust-2BL.1 (9.69–10.57%), QYrpd.swust-2BL.2 (10.36–12.97%), and QYrpd.swust-2BL.3 (9.54–13.15%) were significant in some of the tests. The three ASR resistance QTLs QYrpd.swust-2AS (9.69–13.58%), QYrpd.swust-2BL.4 (9.49–12.07%), and QYrpd.swust-7AS (16.16%) were detected based on the reactions in the seedlings tested with the CYR34 Pst race. Among the 15 QTLs detected in Pindong 34, the ASR resistance gene QYrpd.swust-7AS mapped on the short arm of chromosome 7A was likely similar to the previously reported QTL Yr61 in the region. The QTLs identified in the present study and their closely linked molecular markers could be useful for developing wheat cultivars with durable resistance to stripe rust.
