Early Aggressive Medical Treatment Associated with Selective Prophylactic Aortic Stent-Grafting for Aortic Intramural Hematoma

Abstract:Background: Although recent studies suggest that medical treatment is appropriate for patients with aortic intramural hematoma (IMH), the outcomes of supportive medical treatment alone have not been satisfactory, and clear guidelines for medical treatment are not yet available. We assessed whether a management protocol of combined early aggressive medical treatment and selective prophylactic aortic stent-grafting would benefit patients with IMH.Methods: Nineteen patients with IMH were prospectively studied; after initial clinical and radiological evaluation, 13 underwent early aggressive medical therapy (group 1), and 6 underwent early aggressive medical therapy and prophylactic endovascular stent-grafting (group 2).Results: In group 1, one patient with type A IMH died prior to surgical consultation because of cardiac tamponade; another patient with type A IMH underwent replacement of the ascending aorta at the 6-month follow-up. The condition of the other 11 patients stabilized during hospitalization and after discharge. The disease spontaneously regressed in 10 patients, and the intramural hematoma completely resolved in 5 patients. In group 2, follow-up imaging revealed complete coverage of the penetrating aortic ulcers and regression of the intramural hematoma; endovascular leaks have not yet occurred.Conclusions: Our protocol may be used as an alternative approach for patients with IMH. After initial clinical and radiological evaluation, the condition of patients without complications can be stabilized with medical treatment; frequent follow-up imaging is required in such cases. Early aggressive medical treatment combined with prophylactic aortic stent-grafting is a safe and effective treatment modality for IMH patients with penetrating aortic ulcers in the descending aorta.

Abstract:BACKGROUND Rectus sheath hematoma (RSH) is uncommon, and because people have limited knowledge about it, it is difficult to recognize the symptoms in time, often de-laying optimal treatment. CASE SUMMARY Herein, we report a case of a 77-year-old female with RSH. The patient was treated at our hospital for coronavirus disease 2019. Anticoagulant treatment was administered during this period because of thrombosis. On the 8th d of treatment, the patient complained of abdominal pain. Ultrasonography revealed a solid cystic mass in the pelvic cavity. An emergency laparotomy was performed, and a huge hematoma was found in the deep layer of the rectus abdominis muscle. We used anticoagulants with caution based on the patient’s condition. CONCLUSION Optimal management of patients with RSH s depends on timely diagnosis and when to reintroduce anticoagulants.

Abstract:Objective To present 3 cases of retroperitoneal hematoma ( RPH ) following transforaminal percutaneous endoscopic lumbar discectomy and to discuss how to prevent the complication of unintended hemorrhage by reviewing literatures. Methods The clinical data of 3 patiets admitted in 2 hospitals from March 2016 to January 2018 were retrospectively studied. The literatures about the RPH following transforaminal percutaneous endoscopic lumbar discectomy before July 2018 were searched in CNKI, Weipu, Wanfang and PubMed databases by using "percutaneous lumbar endoscopic discectomy" and"retroperitoneal hematoma" as key words. Seven cases reported in English and one case reported in Chinese were detected. The clinical and imaging features, prevention and treatment of the complication were observed and analyzed. Results All 3 cases were undertaken transforaminal percutaneous endoscopic lumbar discectomy under local anesthesia. The patient with hypovolemic shock was treated by lumbar vertebral segment arterial embolization. The case with progressive weakness of her right leg underwent open hematoma evacuation via posterior lumbar approach. The last case was treated conservatively. In 6-24 months follow-up, 2 cases recovered without any neurological or vascular sequelae, but 1 case presented residual neurological deficits. Eleven cases of RPH after percutaneous transforaminal lumbar discectomy were involved, including 3 cases in this paper and 8 cases reported in references. Most of them presented with pain and discomfort in the groin area after a short period of asymptomatic operation. Two cases of hypovolemic shock were treated with lumbar vertebral segment arterial embolization, two cases with diffuse hematoma (hematoma volume ≥500 mL) were treated with laparotomy hematoma removal, one case with progressive weakness of right leg underwent open hematoma evacuation via posterior lumbar approach, and the other 6 cases were treated conservatively. With proper treatments, overall prognosis was good. Conclusions RPH is an infrequent but serious complication of transforaminal percutaneous endoscopic lumbar discectomy. Adequate technical and anatomical considerations are important to avoid this unusual hemorrhagic complication. A high index of suspicion and early detection are also important to avoid the progression of the hematoma.
A Preliminary Study on Classification and Therapeutic Strategies for Spontaneous Perirenal Hemorrhage

Abstract:Background: The aim of our study was to report our experience in the classification and therapeutic management strategies for spontaneous perirenal hemorrhage (SPH). Methods: From September 2005 to April 2015, 20 patients with SPH were newly diagnosed in our hospital. Their clinical features, image findings, identification of underlying causes, and therapeutic management were retrospectively analyzed, and relevant literature was reviewed. In this study, patients were classified according to the degree of severity of the disease or emergency imaging diagnosis of underlying causes. On the basis of the former, patients were classified as critical and noncritical, and on the basis of the latter, patients were classified as renal cell carcinoma (RCC), undefined solid neoplasm, angioleiomyolipoma (AML), and unknown cause. Results: In the acute stage, contrast-enhanced computed tomography (CT) was superior to ultrasonography for both diagnostic accuracy of SPH = 0.02) and etiology discovery power (p = 0.004). The results of contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) were identical to those of contrast-enhanced CT. We summarized a flowchart in the whole classification and therapeutic strategies of SPH. According to the imaging diagnosis of underlying causes, all the patients with undefined solid neoplasm or RCC underwent emergency operation. Patients with AML or unknown cause underwent selective arterial embolization (SAE) or conservative management according to the critical degree. Acute hemorrhage was controlled in 19 cases, of which 14 were cured by the operation and only one critical patient with severe shock died shortly despite rescue efforts. Conclusions: Contrast-enhanced CT or MRI is the first choice of imaging examination, which could not only accurately diagnose SPH but also detect the underlying causes. Choice of therapeutic strategies for SPH should vary according to the identification of critical patients and imaging diagnosis of underlying cause.
Indication, Timing, and Surgical Treatment of Spontaneous Intracerebral Hemorrhage: Systematic Review and Proposal of a Management Algorithm

Abstract:Objective: To delineate the most recommendable treatment of spontaneous intracerebral hemorrhages and the indication for surgery, its timing, and the best surgical technique to be adopted case by case. Methods: Based on PubMed/MEDLINE, Embase, and the Cochrane Library databases, a systematic review of the literature was performed using as keywords the terms "spontaneous intracerebral hemorrhage," "surgical management," "medical management," "supratentorial," and "infratentorial." Because of the highest level of evidence, only randomized and nonrandomized clinical trials, meta-analyses, and comparative cohort studies reported within the last 12 years were selected. An updated and evidence-based treatment algorithm was reported also. Results: The search initially returned 255 articles. After application of the exclusion criteria, only 19 studies were selected. According to the site and volume of the hematoma, admission Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS) score, and progressive neurologic decline, specific subgroups were identified. Surgery must be considered in patients with an admission GCS score ranging between 5 and 12 and a hematoma volume >30 mL. The best time-window has been reported to be 7-24 hours after ictus. Endoscopic surgery is recommendable for patients with a supratentorial hematoma >60 mL and with a poor GCS score (4-8). Alternative techniques, such as minimally invasive puncture and thrombolysis, may be considered for deeper hematoma. Conclusions: Careful selection of patients eligible for surgery is mandatory. The optimal timing falls into a time-window ranging between 7 and 24 hours after ictus. Minimal invasive techniques are valuable surgical options for patients in a poor GCS score or harboring large deep-seated hemorrhages.

Abstract:Objective: Retroperitoneal Hematoma (RPH) is an underdiagnosed and overlooked disease entity and has a high mortality rate if not diagnosed in a timely manner. This study aims to analyze the clinical characteristics, risk factors, treatment and the outcome of RPH cases at our medical center.Methods: In this retrospective study, all cases who presented to the emergency room (ER) and/or admitted to our center with the diagnosis of RPH from Jan 2016 to Dec 2018 were included (3-year data).Results: A total number of 78 RPH cases were included including both the traumatic and spontaneous bleed. The most common setting was spontaneous bleeding with no concurrent use of anti-thrombotic agents. Zone 3 (pelvic hematoma) bleed was the most common type of RPH. Most patients were successfully managed medically alone (59%). Others required surgical intervention, either laparoscopy, laparotomy or through the interventional radiological approach. There was a significant association between the need for vasopressors (OR-5.65, P-value of 0.039), spontaneous bleed (P-value of 0.001), bleed without antithrombotic agents (P-value of 0.002) with prolonged hospital stay (> 5 days). On follow-up, 83% of cases were reported to be alive. Only 2 patients died secondary to hemorrhagic shock.Conclusion: Most cases of RPH had an excellent outcome with conservative management alone.

Abstract:BACKGROUND Recurrent hemarthrosis is a rare complication of total knee arthroplasty, and only a few cases have been reported; hence, it is hard to establish comprehensive diagnosis and treatment guidelines. We here report a case of recurrent hemarthrosis after total knee arthroplasty, and briefly review the literature. CASE SUMMARY A 50-year-old man, with a history of hypertension, presented to the Orthopedic Department of our hospital for non-traumatic acute left knee pain and swelling associated with a warmth sensation 14 mo after total knee arthroplasty. Investigations (ultrasound, aspiration, and arthroscopy) and managements (non-surgical, arthroscopy and open exploration) were performed, and the clinical effects of these interventions were analyzed separately. Clinical evidence indicates that the cause of this case was rupture of a pseudoaneurysm of the medial superior genicular artery. CONCLUSION The present case indicated that angiography is essential in cases of hemarthrosis after TKA; arthroscopy may not always be adequate as it may not provide a clear view; and traditional open exploration is still effective and sometimes necessary.

Abstract:A major challenge within the academic literature on SDHs has been inconsistent outcomes reported across studies. Historically, patients have been categorized by the blood-product age identified on imaging (i.e., acute, subacute, or chronic). However, this schematic has likely played a central role in producing the heterogeneity encountered in the literature. In this investigation, a total of 494 patients that underwent SDH evacuation at a tertiary medical center between November 2013-December 2021 were retrospectively identified. Mechanism of injury was reviewed by the authors and categorized as either positive or negative for a high-velocity impact (HVI) injury. Any head strike injury leading to the formation of a SDH while traveling at a velocity beyond that of normal locomotion or daily activities was categorized as an HVI. Patients were subsequently stratified by those with an acute SDHs after a high-velocity impact (aSDHHVI), those with an acute SDH without a high-velocity impact injury (aSDHWO), and those with any combination of subacute or chronic blood products (mixed-SDH [mSDH]). Nine percent (n = 44) of patients experienced an aSDHHVI, 23% (n = 113) aSDHWO, and 68% (n = 337) mSDH. Between these groups, highly distinct patient populations were identified using several metrics for comparison. Most notably, aSDHHVI had a significantly worse neurological status at discharge (50% vs. 23% aSDHWO vs. 8% mSDH; p < 0.001) and mortality (25% vs. 8% aSDHWO vs. 4% mSDH; p < 0.001). Controlling for gender, midline shift (mm), and anticoagulation use in the acute SDH population, multivariable logistic regression revealed a 6.85x odds ratio (p < 0.001) for poor outcomes in those with a positive history for a high-velocity impact injury. As such, the distribution of patients that suffer an HVI related acute SDH versus those that do not can significantly affect the outcomes reported. Adoption of this stratification system will help address the heterogeneity of SDH reporting in the literature while still closely aligning with conventional reporting.

Advancements in Managing Intracerebral Hemorrhage: Transition from Nihilism to Optimism

Abstract:There have been significant advancements in the management of intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) stemming from new knowledge on its pathogenesis. Major clinical trials, such as Surgical Trial in Lobar Intracerebral Hemorrhage (STICH I and II), have shown only a small, albeit clinically relevant, advantage of surgical interventions in specific subsets of patients suffering from ICH. Currently, the aim is to use a minimally invasive and safe trajectory in removing significant brain hematomas with the aid of neuro-endoscopy or precise guidance through neuro-navigation, thereby avoiding a collateral damage to the surrounding normal brain tissue. A fundamental rational to such approach is to safely remove hematoma, preventing the ongoing mass effect resulting in brain herniation, and to minimize deleterious effects of iron released from hematoma to brain cells. The clot lysis process is facilitated with the adjunctive use of recombinant tissue plasminogen activator and sonolysis. Revised recommendations for the management of ICH focus on a holistic approach, with special emphasis on early patient mobilization and graded rehabilitative process. There has been a paradigm shift in the management algorithm, putting emphasis on early and safe removal of brain hematoma and then focusing on the improvement of patients' quality of life. We have made significant progress in transition from nihilism toward optimism, based on evidence-based management of such a severe global health scourge as intracranial hemorrhage.
Biologically-Inspired Search Strategy for Locating Odor Source

Abstract:A mobile robot with gas sensors is able to detect and localize odor sources. Inspired from the animal predatory behavior, the paper presents a new search strategy for locating odor source by mobile robot. The behavior of the robot search odor source is divided into two main parts, namely, the global search and local search. The search strategy fuses with the information from gas sensors, wind direction sensor, ultrasound sensors, etc. Problems of obstacle avoidance and repetitive search of the mobile robot are considered when searching odor source, and the conditions for odor source declaration are presented. Experimental results on the search for a leaking bottle with alcohol in an indoor environment demonstrate the high efficiency and validity of the localization strategy.

Abstract:Intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) is the second most common type of stroke, accounting for approximately 10–20% of all strokes, and is linked to severe neurological disability and death. Since the most accurate predictor of outcome in patients with ICH is hematoma volume, there is a great need for pharmacologic therapy that can reduce hematoma expansion and resultant mass effect and edema. This is especially critical within the ultra-early window of 3–4 hours after the presentation. Hemostatic therapies are exceptionally important for those patients taking antiplatelet or anticoagulant medications to reverse the effects of these medications and therefore prevent hematoma expansion. Furthermore, the recent publication of the 2023 Guideline for the Management of Patients with Aneurysmal Subarachnoid Hemorrhage by the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association, the first update to the guidelines since 2012, underscores the importance of optimizing anticoagulation reversal for this population. The purpose of this selective, nonsystematic review is to examine current literature regarding the use of hemostatic therapies in ICH, with particular attention paid to antiplatelet, anticoagulation, and antifibrinolytic therapies.

Abstract:Introduction: Spontaneous non-traumatic intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) is most often caused by small vessel diseases: deep perforator arteriopathy (hypertensive arteriopathy) or cerebral amyloid angiopathy (CAA). Although ICH accounts for only 10–15% of all strokes it causes a high proportion of stroke mortality and morbidity, with few proven effective acute or preventive treatments.Areas covered: We conducted a literature search on etiology, diagnosis, treatment, management and current clinical trials in ICH. In this review, We describe the causes, diagnosis (including new brain imaging biomarkers), classification, pathophysiological understanding, treatment (medical and surgical), and secondary prevention of ICH.Expert opinion: In recent years, significant advances have been made in deciphering causes, understanding pathophysiology, and improving acute treatment and prevention of ICH. However, the clinical outcome remains poor and many challenges remain. Acute interventions delivered rapidly (including medical therapies – targeting hematoma expansion, hemoglobin toxicity, inflammation, edema, anticoagulant reversal – and minimally invasive surgery) are likely to improve acute outcomes. Improved classification of the underlying arteriopathies (from neuroimaging and genetic studies) and prognosis should allow tailored prevention strategies (including sustained blood pressure control and optimized antithrombotic therapy) to further improve longer-term outcome in this devastating disease.

Prognostic Factors and Treatment Efficacy in Spontaneous Spinal Epidural Hematoma: A Single Center Experience and Literature Review

Abstract:Background/aim: Spontaneous spinal epidural hematoma (SSEH) is a rare but serious condition, accounting for less than 1% of spinal lesions, with an incidence of 0.1 per 100,000 annually. Discovered by Jackson in 1869, around 40-50% of SSEH cases often lack a definitive cause, though risk factors, such as anticoagulant usage, vascular malformations, and hypertension are recognized. Symptoms vary from mild pain to severe neurological impairments like paraparesis, depending on the spinal cord compression level. Prompt treatment, usually involving spinal decompression and hematoma removal, is crucial, especially in cases of neurological decline. The study aims to provide comprehensive analysis of SSEH through examination of by patient cases, critical prognostic factors, and therapeutic strategies, based on demographics, clinical data, and outcomes observed at the Tri-Service General Hospital. Patients and methods: This retrospective study, spanning 2003-2023 at the Tri-Service General Hospital, analyzed 14 patients with SSEH. It examined demographics, risk factors, clinical and radiological profiles, treatments, outcomes, and prognoses, using SPSS software (version 22.0) and adhering to the Modified Rankin Scale (mRS) and the American Spinal Injury Association (ASIA) impairment scale guidelines for data analysis. Results: In this study of 14 patients with SSEH, 93% underwent urgent surgery, including total laminectomy or open-door laminoplasty, while 7% received conservative treatment. Post-surgery, 69.2% showed favorable outcomes (mRS ≤2) in the one-year follow-up, while 30.8% had poorer results (mRS 3-4). A significant negative correlation was noted between initial ASIA scores and one-year mRS outcomes, suggesting less initial impairment predicts better recovery. These findings indicated that a moderate positive correlation between treatment delay and one-year mRS scores. Nevertheless, factors, such as age, antiplatelet use, spinal levels with hematoma localization, and myelopathy signs observed before treatment did not demonstrate any significant effects on neurological outcomes during the one-year follow-up. Conclusion: Patients with minor initial deficits or those receiving early surgery, preferably within 12-36 h of symptom onset, exhibit better neurological recovery. Poor prognosis correlates with high International Normalized Ratio (INR) on anticoagulants, hematoma size, lumbar involvement, or severe motor issues. Rapid surgical hematoma evacuation is advised. Our study supports recovery of neurological function following surgical intervention in all cases, highlighting the potential efficacy of surgical decompression even in severe and prolonged instances of SSEH.

Abstract:The present study aimed to explore the clinical characteristics and management of retroperitoneal hematoma (RPH) after invasive intervention during a 12-year period in China. A retrospective review of patients with RPH after various invasive interventions was conducted at the China National Center for Cardiovascular Diseases. A total of 42 patients with a mean age of 63.1±2.5 years were continuously recruited in the study between January 2007 and September 2018. The incidence, manifestations and management of RPH were analyzed. A total of 20 patients had punctures in the femoral arterial access under the inguinal ligament and 5 patients had punctures above the inguinal ligament. The majority of RPH occurred within 24 h after intervention, while some occurred after postoperative 24 h. Pain was the most common symptom in patients with RPH. All patients who underwent intervention presented a reduction in hemoglobin (HB) concentration. The overall incidence of nosocomial infection was 38.1% and mortality was 7.1%. The findings demonstrated that RPH is a rare complication after invasive intervention of cardiovascular diseases with non-specific clinical manifestations. The reduction of HB concentration was a vital manifestation for RPH. Most RPH cases could be treated by conservative treatment and blood transfusion. A puncture in the femoral arterial access under the inguinal ligament may result in RPH.
Insights into retroperitoneal hemorrhage management: result from a tertiary cardiovascular center prospective cohort

Abstract:Background Although rare, retroperitoneal hemorrhage (RPH) during percutaneous cardiovascular interventions is still potentially fatal, poses a critical challenge, often necessitating swift and precise management strategies. Its management is still controversial, and available recommendations are mostly based on expert opinion, and not updated according to recent advancement in the field of interventional cardiology. Purpose To present the rate, clinical characteristics and modern management of patients complicating with RPH in a large tertiary cardiovascular center Method We collected prospectively all consecutive RPH events encountered in the catheterization laboratories of a large tertiary cardiovascular center during 2014-2022. Procedural data from all the diagnostic and therapeutic procedures performed in the same time period, were retrieved from electronic hospital records (EHR). Results Among 89,361 percutaneous cardiovascular diagnostic or therapeutic procedures performed on 69596 patients, 52 (0.058%) episodes (patients) of RPH, (mean age of 56.37±16.84 years with female sex predominance of 36 (69.23%)). Also 2 (3.8%) patients died due to RPH. Non-contrast abdominopelvic CT scan was the most common primary imaging modality for RPH diagnosis, followed by DSA angiography. Of note, 13 (25 %) of patients returned directly to catheterization laboratory for RPH evaluation. Thirty-one (59.6%) patients were ultimately treated conservatively and no patient treated surgically. Structural and peripheral procedures were more prone to RPH. Still a median time of 7.5 hours was needed for RPH diagnosis. Contralateral access was the dominant approach for treating RPH, and although balloon tamponade was used in 11 (52.4 %) patients, 17 (80.9 %) patients were treated ultimately with covered stents; deep femoral and internal iliac arteries were covered in 1 (5.9%) and 2 (11.8%) patients, respectively. Patients treated endovascularly for RPH had higher acute kidney injury and longer hospital stays. Further comprehensive analysis regarding the potential risk factors of RPH are pending. Conclusion Our preliminary analysis from a large tertiary cardiovascular center database, showed RPH is still rare, with acceptable mortality rate of 3.83%. Our data showed the necessity of more precise probability assessment tools to improve the diagnostic time.

Abstract:Haemorrhagic shock is frequent in critical care settings and responsible for a high mortality rate due to multiple organ dysfunction and coagulopathy. The management of critically ill patients with bleeding and shock is complex, and treatment of these patients must be rapid and definitive. The administration of large volumes of blood components leads to major physiological alterations which must be mitigated during and after bleeding. Early recognition of bleeding and coagulopathy, understanding the underlying pathophysiology related to specific disease states, and the development of individualised management protocols are important for optimal outcomes. This review describes the contemporary understanding of the pathophysiology of various types of coagulopathic bleeding; the diagnosis and management of critically ill bleeding patients, including major haemorrhage protocols and post-transfusion management; and finally highlights recent areas of opportunity to better understand optimal management strategies for managing bleeding in the intensive care unit (ICU).

Conservative Management of Partial Thickness Rotator Cuff Tears: A Systematic Review

Abstract:Background: Conservative management has emerged as an attractive option for partial thickness rotator cuff tears (PT-RCTs). A single algorithmic treatment strategy for patients with symptomatic PT-RCT has not yet been developed. This systematic review aims to ascertain whether a conservative approach to PT-RCTs yields positive results in terms of clinical outcomes and functional recovery. Methods: This is a systematic review of the literature on patients with PT-RCTs receiving conservative treatment with physiotherapy, platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections, collagen injections, hyaluronic acid (HA) injections, or corticosteroids injections coupled with polydeoxyribonucleotide (PDRN). Outcomes such as the Visual Analog Scale (VAS) for pain, American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons and Constant-Murley Score evaluations, as well as the Shoulder Pain and Disability Index and Euro Quality of Life-5D questionnaires were reported following a conservative approach. Results: Eleven studies were included. Six articles explored the outcomes of patients with PT-RCT treated with PRP injections. Significant improvements in VAS for pain were observed. Two studies examined collagen injections and reported variations in VAS for pain and Constant-Murley Score. Sodium hyaluronate and HA injections were studied in two other articles, showing notable improvements in American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons scores. Corticosteroid and PDRN injections also displayed favorable outcomes. In addition, physical therapy protocols demonstrated improvements in VAS for pain and strength, particularly with eccentric rehabilitation. Conclusions: Conservative management of PT-RCTs, involving physical therapy, PRP injections, collagen injections, corticosteroid injections, HA injections, and PDRN in jections, demonstrates favorable clinical outcomes. In addition, favorable results are observed in terms of decreased tear width and improved strength recovery, at least during a short-term follow-up. Unfortunately, long-term insight into the structural integrity of conservatively treated rotator cuff tendons following a partial injury has not been thoroughly evaluated yet. Research advances in imaging markers for predicting hematoma expansion in intracerebral hemorrhage: a narrative review

Abstract:Introduction: Stroke is a major global health concern and is ranked as the second leading cause of death worldwide, with the third highest incidence of disability. Intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) is a devastating form of stroke that is responsible for a significant proportion of stroke-related morbidity and mortality worldwide. Hematoma expansion (HE), which occurs in up to one-third of ICH patients, is a strong predictor of poor prognosis and can be potentially preventable if high-risk patients are identified early. In this review, we provide a comprehensive summary of previous research in this area and highlight the potential use of imaging markers for future research studies. Recent advances: Imaging markers have been developed in recent years to aid in the early detection of HE and guide clinical decision-making. These markers have been found to be effective in predicting HE in ICH patients and include specific manifestations on Computed Tomography (CT) and CT Angiography (CTA), such as the spot sign, leakage sign, spot-tail sign, island sign, satellite sign, iodine sign, blend sign, swirl sign, black hole sign, and hypodensities. The use of imaging markers holds great promise for improving the management and outcomes of ICH patients. Conclusion: The management of ICH presents a significant challenge, and identifying high-risk patients for HE is crucial to improving outcomes. The use of imaging markers for HE prediction can aid in the rapid identification of such patients and may serve as potential targets for anti-HE therapies in the acute phase of ICH. Therefore, further research is needed to establish the reliability and validity of these markers in identifying high-risk patients and guiding appropriate treatment decisions.
