Abstract:Ignition capability is a critical design constraint for aeronautical gas turbines. However the current trend toward overall lean burn is detrimental to the engine ignition and relight and the ignition system must be adapted to ensure a fast and reliable light-round in all circumstances. As ignition is a stochastic phenomenon, the optimization of an ignition system requires to build ignition probability maps, which is difficult and costly with either experiment or numerical simulation as both require many tests. This work proposes a model to predict the ignition probability map, knowing only flow statistics in non-reacting conditions, i.e., with only one test. The originality of the model is to construct statistics of the flame kernel trajectory, which are then combined with local flow indicators to evaluate the ignition probability at the considered sparking location. Application to a swirled burner operated in premixed, non-premixed and spray combustion modes illustrates the model concepts and demonstrates its ability to recover the experimental ignition map with good accuracy.

Abstract:Regenerative cooling of the high-temperature components in propulsion and power-generation systems plays a paramount role in maintaining the reliability and durability of the systems. In this paper, a mathematical model is developed for studying fluid dynamics and heat-transfer characteristics of the aviation kerosene RP-3 at supercritical pressures. The model accommodates a detailed pyrolytic chemical reaction mechanism, which consists of 18 species and 24 elementary reactions (Jiang, R.; Liu, G.; Zhang, X. Thermal cracking of hydrocarbon aviation fuels in regenerative cooling microchannels. Energy Fuels 2013, 27, 2563-2577). Accurate calculations of thermophysical properties at supercritical pressures are properly incorporated. After rigorous model validations, numerical studies of turbulent heat transfer of RP-3 in a micro cooling tube at a supercritical pressure of 5 MPa are conducted under operating conditions of both constant wall heat flux and constant surface temperature to obtain a fundamental understanding of the complex physicochemical processes. Results indicate that the endothermic fuel pyrolysis, which prevails once the bulk fluid temperature rises above 750 K, dictates the fluid flow and heat-transfer process in the high fluid temperature region. Significant variations of the fluid thermophysical properties also make strong impacts; two scenarios of heat-transfer enhancement resulting from property variations under the tested conditions are analyzed. This work has fundamental and practical implications for effective thermal management in propulsion and power-generation systems.
A Structured Framework for Predicting Sustainable Aviation Fuel Properties using Liquid-Phase FTIR and Machine Learning

Abstract:Sustainable aviation fuels have the potential for reducing emissions and environmental impact. To help identify viable sustainable aviation fuels and accelerate research, several machine learning models have been developed to predict relevant physiochemical properties. However, many of the models have limited applicability, leverage data from complex analytical techniques with confined spectral ranges, or use feature decomposition methods that have limited interpretability. Using liquid-phase Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectra, this study presents a structured method for creating accurate and interpretable property prediction models for neat molecules, aviation fuels, and blends. Liquid-phase FTIR spectra measurements can be collected quickly and consistently, offering high reliability, sensitivity, and component specificity using less than 2 mL of sample. The method first decomposes FTIR spectra into fundamental building blocks using Non-negative Matrix Factorization (NMF) to enable scientific analysis of FTIR spectra attributes and fuel properties. The NMF features are then used to create five ensemble models for predicting final boiling point, flash point, freezing point, density at 15C, and kinematic viscosity at -20C. All models were trained using experimental property data from neat molecules, aviation fuels, and blends. The models accurately predict properties while enabling interpretation of relationships between compositional elements of a fuel, such as functional groups or chemical classes, and its properties. To support sustainable aviation fuel research and development, the models and data are available on an interactive web tool.

Abstract:The regenerative cooling technology is a promising approach for effective thermal protection of propulsion and power-generation systems. A mathematical model has been used to examine fluid flows and heat transfer of the aviation kerosene RP-3 with endothermic fuel pyrolysis at a supercritical pressure of 5 MPa. A pyrolytic reaction mechanism, which consists of 18 species and 24 elementary reactions, is incorporated to account for fuel pyrolysis. Detailed model validations are conducted against a series of experimental data, including fluid temperature, fuel conversion rate, various product yields, and chemical heat sink, fully verifying the accuracy and reliability of the model. Effects of fuel pyrolysis and inlet flow velocity on flow dynamics and heat transfer characteristics of RP-3 are investigated. Results reveal that the endothermic fuel pyrolysis significantly improves the heat transfer process in the high fluid temperature region. During the supercritical-pressure heat transfer process, the flow velocity significantly increases, caused by the drastic variations of thermophysical properties. Under all the tested conditions, the Nusselt number initially increases, consistent with the increased flow velocity, and then slightly decreases in the high fluid temperature region, mainly owing to the decreased heat absorption rate from the endothermic pyrolytic chemical reactions.
Research on Load Prediction of Low-Calorific Fuel Fired Gas Turbine Based on Data and Knowledge Hybrid Model

Abstract:The high-precision load prediction technology plays a vital role in load control and health management for gas turbines. Low-calorific fuel fired gas turbines pose an especially significant challenge for load prediction due to the frequent and wide fluctuations of gas parameters. First, an improved hybrid-dimension physical-based model is proposed, which is corrected based on segmented operation data and integrates zero-dimensional thermodynamic knowledge of gas turbines with three-dimensional fluid dynamics simulation knowledge. Secondly, an optimal data-driven model is proposed through conducting a systematic comparative study on four popular machine learning models with two types of input variables feature extraction. Then, a novel hybrid model is proposed based on the improved physical-based model, optimal data-driven model, and the principle of minimizing hybrid model errors. The average relative prediction error of the hybrid model over the complete operation range is 0.68%. Compared with the physical-based model and the data-driven model, the proposed hybrid model can improve the prediction accuracy by 63% and 29%, respectively. As the high-calorific fuel fired gas turbine system is relatively simple and has a small range of fuel fluctuations, the method established in this paper can be extended to high-calorific fuel fired gas turbines, which is of great significance for promoting the dynamic balance of loads in a new type of electric power system based on new energy.
Analyses of Surrogate Models for Calculating Thermophysical Properties of Aviation Kerosene RP-3 at Supercritical Pressures

Abstract:Aviation kerosene is commonly used in combustion and regenerative engine cooling processes in propulsion and power-generation systems, including rocket, scramjet, and advanced gas turbine engines. In this paper, many surrogate models proposed in the open literature are examined for their applicability and accuracy in calculating thermodynamic and transport properties of the China aviation kerosene RP-3 at supercritical pressures, based on the extended corresponding-states methods. The enthalpy change from endothermic decomposition and low heating value from combustion of the jet fuel are also evaluated. Results from a number of simple and representative surrogate models, which contain species components ranging from 1 to 10, are analyzed in detail. Data analyses indicate that a surrogate model with four species is the best choice for thermophysical property calculations under the tested conditions, with fluid temperature up to 650 K at various supercritical pressures. The surrogate model is particularly accurate in predicting the pseudo-critical temperature of aviation kerosene RP-3 at a supercritical pressure. A simple surrogate model containing the n-decane species and a surrogate model containing 10 species are the other two acceptable options. The work conducted herein is of practical importance for theoretical analyses and numerical simulations of various physicochemical processes at engine operating conditions.
Integrating properties and conditions to predict spray performance of alternative aviation fuel by ANN model

Abstract:Alternative aviation fuel has been confirmed benefits for GHGs reduction and energy saving. Alternative fuel use should meet drop-in fuel requirement, and one of the important factors to ensure combustion completeness is to achieve spray requirement in the whole envelop of flight. Alternative fuels are characterized different fuel properties at low temperature comparison with traditional jet fuel. For understanding fuel properties and spray-related processes under different conditions, alternative aviation fuel, including Fischer Tropsch (FT), cellulose hydrotreating jet fuel (CHJ) and traditional jet fuel (RP-3), were investigated spray performance. According to empirical equation deduced from experiment data (283 K-343 K), deviations to RP-3 enhanced significantly on surface tension and viscosity at low temperature aera (243 K-273 K). As the complex and discontinuous interaction between nozzle structure and fuel properties with temperature, and thus it is difficult to obtain appropriate empirical equation or simulation results at low temperature. Moreover, non-drop-in fuel like pure FT fuel cannot comply with the same spray mechanism as drop-in fuel. The artificial neural network (ANN) approaches have been involved to solve the complex relationship of properties with spray performance. ANN-spray model coupling with ANN-mass flow can predict not only cone angle and liquid length but also SMD and velocity in liquid zone and droplet zone with above 0.99 total correlation coefficient. Coupling simulation results of mass flow and spray performance, FT and CHJ as well as blend fuels present more obvious difference to RP-3 in droplet size distribution and velocity distribution at low temperature.
Data-driven approach to predict the flow boiling heat transfer coefficient of liquid hydrogen aviation fuel

Abstract:The airline industry targets net-zero carbon emissions by 2050. Hydrogen, a fuel with high energy density and clean combustion products, is poised to substitute kerosene as a new kind of future aviation fuel. Nonetheless, hydrogen aviation fuel is extremely sensitive to heat leakage during the transportation from the fuel tank to the engine on account of the liquid hydrogen flow boiling. Up to now, a reliable tool to predicate the hydrogen flow boiling heat transfer coefficient with high accuracy remains inaccessible. Herein, we propose a data-driven machine-learning model to predict this coefficient via a non-linear regression approach. To this end, we first collected over 864 data points with a hydraulic diameter ranging from 4 mm to 6 mm and with a flow velocity ranging from 1.33 m/s to 11.56 m/s. Then, eight machine learning regression models are developed and compared with empirical correlations. Among them, the Extra Tree model exhibited the best prediction performance with a MSE <0.01% and a R2 = 0.9933, significantly outperforming previously reported generalized prediction correlations. Finally, we found that the Ja number, indispensable to the input parameters, served as a fundamental descriptor in the accurate prediction of the hydrogen flow boiling heat transfer coefficient. The machine learning-based technique provides a potent tool to predict the hydrogen nucleate flow boiling heat transfer coefficients with great precision.

Abstract:Turbulent heat transfer of hydrocarbon fuels at supercritical pressures exists in many power-generation and propulsion systems. Comprehensive validations and analyses of Reynolds averaged Navier Stokes (RANS) CFD models for supercritical-pressure heat transfer of hydrocarbon fuels, including n-decane and aviation kerosene, have been conducted under a broad range of operation conditions. Results indicate that a CFD model incorporating the standard k-ε turbulence model with an enhanced wall treatment works well for supercritical-pressure heat transfer of hydrocarbon fuels without buoyancy effect, both with and without fuel pyrolysis. The main weakness of the model is in the inlet region, in which it tends to under-predict the wall temperature at a low inlet Reynolds number. This model is also qualitatively applicable in calculating heat transfer of hydrocarbon fuels in downward flows with buoyancy effect and without fuel pyrolysis. The SST k-ω turbulence model generally produces results very similar to those from the standard k-ε turbulence model with an enhanced wall treatment, but in cases of supercritical-pressure heat transfer of aviation kerosene with fuel pyrolysis, it strongly over-predicts the wall temperature in the early inlet region as inlet flow is initially laminar. No turbulence model tested in the present study is applicable in supercritical-pressure heat transfer of hydrocarbon fuels in upward flows with buoyancy effect, in which strong heat transfer deterioration occurs.

Abstract:As the increasing demands of global clean power for the main purpose of lowering environmental pollution, heavy-duty gas turbines are playing an increasingly important role in energy fields because of their low emission, high thermal efficiency and flexible start-up capacity. Accurate modeling and simulation of the turbine performance is extremely needed to precisely design a large-watt industrial heavy-duty gas turbine, which is still very challenging due to the high nonlinearity, system complexity, varying conditions, and strong coupling interaction of high-dimension parameters under the harsh operation environment of the turbine. In order to improve the accuracy and efficiency of the performance simulation model for a heavy-duty gas turbine at various operating conditions, this paper presents a new hybrid intelligent methodology to adeptly integrate system thermodynamic balance mechanism with multivariate data by seamlessly combing advanced signal processing, machine learning and artificial neural network modeling techniques. The thermodynamic model of a complicated single-shaft gas turbine is first created based on the balances of both flow and power in various subsystems including inlet, compressor, turbine, combustor and exhaust. The characteristic curves of compressor and turbine are utilized to accurately represent the physical mechanism and effectively simulate the high nonlinear behaviors of subsystems. Wavelet signal processing and machine learning based feature extraction are employed to preprocess the multivariate raw data of the turbine. Multilayer artificial neural network models are explored to efficiently simulate the start-up transient process of the turbine, thus improve the simulation efficiency and accuracy of the complicated system. Multivariate data collected from a real-world industrial heavy-duty gas turbine is employed to illustrate the effectiveness and feasibility of the proposed methodology.

Abstract:Experiments are designed and executed to test the validity of theoretically derived dynamical system models of two configurations of an aircraft fuel thermal management system. Dimensional analysis is used to design a small-scale experiment that achieves dynamic similitude with a notional full-scale aircraft. It is shown that dynamic similitude can be achieved by using small-scale heat exchangers and pumps with water as a surrogate for jet fuel. Similitude is accomplished by matching several nondimensional parameters between the full-scale model and the subscale experiments. It was found that, in order to obtain agreement, it was necessary to modify the original theoretical model to include the heat transfer effects among the water, tank walls, and ambient environment. It is shown that when the subscale experimental results and full-scale simulation results are nondimensionalized, agreement is obtained. Furthermore, this experiment confirms a theoretical prediction from previous work, namely, that thermal endurance of a dual-tank fuel flow topology exceeds that of a single-tank topology for equivalent initial fuel load, flow rates, and flight conditions.

Machine Learning for High Energy Density Hydrocarbons for Sustainable Aviation Fuel

Abstract:Sustainable aviation fuels (SAFs) are crucial for addressing carbon emissions in the aviation industry. With a focus on SAFs, the research aims to establish a quantitative structure-property relationship for polycyclic hydrocarbons (PCHCs) and their net heat of combustion (NHOC) using the innovative approach of machine learning (ML). The model trained with support vector machine (SVM) algorithms in ML is selected as it demonstrates superior performance over other available algorithms with a high coefficient of determination (R2) and low mean absolute error (MAE) of 27.821 KJ/mol for 20% test data. Using the optimum SVM model, thirty-five potential PCHCs are identified as SAF candidates from C6 to C15 sourced from reputable scientific literature and databases. Furthermore, structural analysis revealed that high-performance PCHCs typically consist of saturated alkanes with multiple 3, 4, and 5-membered rings, suggesting that strained energy plays a role in their high energy density. The model obtained from ML can be employed to screen new hydrocarbons for their suitability as SAF candidates before costly experiments and ASTM evaluations.

Abstract:To control the global warming trends, carbon footprint of all the human activities needs to be restricted, including the aviation industry. Mixing hydrogen with commercial kerosene jet fuels appears as a promising alternative fuel to reduce the carbon dioxide emissions of aviation engines. The addition of hydrogen can significantly impact the auto-ignition process of aviation fuels, which is a key ingredient of engine reliability. However, accurate calculations or measurements of ignition delay times (IDTs) over a wide range of pressures, temperatures and fuel blending ratios are complicated and time-consuming. To achieve real-time prediction of ignition delay time for hydrogen-blended jet fuels under various operating conditions, machine learning methods are introduced to build a data-driven proxy model in this work. First, the ignition delay times of Jet A-1/hydrogen fuel mixture are simulated using the well-known HyChem combustion reaction mechanism under different pressures, temperatures, equivalence ratios and blending molar ratios of hydrogen. After some validation against experimental results, an artificial neural network (ANN) model is trained using the database of ignition delay times. Furthermore, a sub-ANN is nested to the original ANN model as an improvement on certain local conditions. The results show that the single original ANN model leads to a large local relative error for IDT <103μs, generally referring to high temperatures and pressures conditions. With the help of the nested sub-ANN approach, the improved model achieves a significantly better accuracy for very fast ignition. Compared with other machine learning models such as random forest, the nested sub-ANN model is more efficient to predict the ignition delay times of Jet A-1/hydrogen fuel mixture, still mitigating computational cost. The sensitivity analysis shows how the nested sub-ANN model is less sensitive to the uncertainties of the input parameters than the original ANN model.

Abstract:With the growing demand for hydrogen as a clean fuel to power vehicles and aircraft, liquid hydrogen (LH2) is a promising choice for hydrogen storage with the advantages of large volumetric energy density, high purity, and low operating pressure. Safe operation and storage of LH2 rely on accurate prediction of the self-pressurization process inside LH2 tanks by thermal models. To avoid taking weeks or longer in the self-pressurization prediction by computational fluid dynamic models, thermal models with fewer nodes and faster calculation speed have attracted interest. This paper systematically reviews the progress in physical assumptions, theories, formulations, and state-of-the-art applications of thermal models. Faced with the lack of indicators to evaluate the modeling comprehensiveness of self-pressurization, five key indicators describing the effect of vapor–liquid mass transfer, temperature evolution, nonideality, temperature stratification, and compressibility of the vapor are proposed for the first time in this paper based on analyzing the real gas equation of vapor. The five indicators as well as calculation speed are adopted in assessing the precision of current thermal models. Some insights and outlooks for clarifying the mechanism of self-pressurization and upgrading thermal models with higher accuracy are discussed.
Data-driven Analysis of Relight variability of Jet Fuels induced by Turbulence

Abstract:For safety purposes, reliable reignition of aircraft engines in the event of flame blow-out is a critical requirement. Typically, an external ignition source in the form of a spark is used to achieve a stable flame in the combustor. However, such forced turbulent ignition may not always successfully relight the combustor, mainly because the state of the combustor cannot be precisely determined. Uncertainty in the turbulent flow inside the combustor, inflow conditions, and spark discharge characteristics can lead to variability in sparking outcomes even for nominally identical operating conditions. Prior studies have shown that of all the uncertain parameters, turbulence is often dominant and can drastically alter ignition behavior. For instance, even when different fuels have similar ignition delay times, their ignition behavior in practical systems can be completely different. In practical operating conditions, it is challenging to understand why ignition fails and how much variation in outcomes can be expected. The focus of this work is to understand relight variability induced by turbulence for two different aircraft fuels, namely Jet-A and a variant named C1. A detailed, previously developed simulation approach is used to generate a large number of successful and failed ignition events. Using this data, the cause of misfire is evaluated based on a discriminant analysis that delineates the difference between turbulent initial conditions that lead to ignition or failure. It was determined that the cause of ignition failure is different for the two fuels. While it was found that Jet-A is influenced by fuel entrainment, C1 was found to be more sensitive to small scale turbulence features. A larger variability is found in the ignition modes of C1, which can be subject to extreme events induced by kernel breakdown.

Abstract:Drop-in fuels for aviation gas-turbine engines have been introduced recently to mitigate global warming. Despite their similarity to the fossil fuel Jet A-1, their combustion in traditional combustors should be thoroughly analyzed to maintain engine health and low emissions. The paper introduces criteria for assessing the impact of the chemical composition of fuels on combustion in the DEGN 380 turbofan. Based on previous emission-test results, the power functions of carbon monoxide and its emission index were adopted as the model of combustion. Based on the general notation of chemical reactions leading to the production of CO in combustion, the regression coefficients were given a physical meaning by linking them with the parameters of the kinetic equations, i.e., the reaction rate constant of CO and CO2 formation expressed as exponential functions of combustor outlet temperature and the concentration of O2 in the exhaust gas, as well as stoichiometric combustion reactions. The obtained empirical functions show that, in the entire range of engine operating parameters, synthetic components affect the values of the rate constants of CO and CO2 formation. It can be explained by the change in activation energy determined for all chain-of-combustion reactions. The activation energy for the CO formation chain changes in the range between 8.5 kJ/mol for A0 and 24.7 kJ/mol for A30, while for the CO2 formation chain between 29.8 kJ/mol for A0 and 30.8 kJ/mol for A30. The reactivity coefficient lnαiCOACODCO changes between 2.29 for A0 and 6.44 for A30, while lnαiCO2ACO2DCO2 changes between 7.90 for A0 and 8.08 for A30.

Abstract:Abstract For advanced lean premixed gas turbine combustors that have high inlet air temperatures, autoignition may occur during the fuel/air mixing process, which can cause flame-holing inside the premixing device and burn the hardware. An experimental study was performed using a setup that mimics the fuel/air mixing process of lean-premixed combustors. In the present experiment, the preheated air was injected into a quartz tube, and a fuel jet was injected concentrically into the hot turbulent air coflow. The quartz tube allows for direct observation of the autoignition behavior, which develops when the fuel and air mix as they flow inside the tube. This paper presents a study combining machine learning methods and physical analysis that is aimed at predicting autoignition in such flows. A model for the prediction of autoignition of a fuel jet in a flow configuration referred to as a ‘confined turbulent hot coflow’ (CTHC) is developed using machine learning techniques based on binary logistic regression and support vector machine. Key factors that impact the autoignition phenomenon are identified by analyzing the underlying physics and are used to form the feature vector of the model. The model is trained using data from experiments and is validated by an additional set of data, which are selected randomly. The results show that the model predicts the autoignition event with satisfactory accuracy and quick turnaround. The trained model parameters in turn provide insights into the quantitative contribution of different factors that impact the autoignition event. Thus, the machine-learning based method can form an alternative to CFD modeling in some cases.
Modeling of performance and thermodynamic metrics of a conceptual turboprop engine by comparing different machine learning approaches

Abstract:Summary In this study, several performance and thermodynamics metrics of a conceptual turboprop engine (C‐TPE) were computed at 50 (fifty) power settings. Based on these computations, these parameters were predicted by employing artificial neural networks (ANN) and long‐short term memory (LSTM) approaches. The obtained parametrically data were subjected to preprocessing for normalization. After determining model inputs to estimate the engine outputs, these data were introduced to ANN and LSTM. Then, the findings by two methods were compared with each other. In this context, fuel flow, air mass flow, exhaust velocity, compressor pressure ratio, turbine outlet temperature, and revolutions per minute (RPM) were selected as model inputs to estimate several metrics such as net thrust, specific fuel consumption (SFC), overall efficiency, exergy efficiency, and environmental effect factor (EEF) regarding the C‐TPE. For modeling of the mentioned metrics, 80% and 20% of the data were used for training and testing, respectively. According to the findings of energetic and exergetic computations, SFC value of the C‐TPE increases from 16.205 to 17.737 g/kNs whereas its overall efficiency varies from 23.63% to 22.31% owing to decrement in RPM. Moreover, exergy efficiency of C‐TPE remains between 23.93% and 26.2% whilst its EFF value resides between 2.66 and 3.05 throughout power settings. Finally, the modeling results indicate that coefficient of determination (R2) regarding overall efficiency of C‐TPE was found as 0.951867 with respect to the ANN model whereas it was calculated as 0.999906 with the proposed LSTM. It could be deduced that since LSTM is capable of providing lower the model error than the ANN for the same set of data, this method could be implemented to predict thermodynamics metrics of different kinds of gas turbine engine where obtaining data is limited.

Abstract:The HyChem approach has recently been proposed for modeling high-temperature combustion of real, multi-component fuels. The approach combines lumped reaction steps for fuel thermal and oxidative pyrolysis with detailed chemistry for the oxidation of the resulting pyrolysis products. However, the approach usually shows substantial discrepancies with experimental data within the Negative Temperature Coefficient (NTC) regime, as the low-temperature chemistry is more fuel-specific than high-temperature chemistry. This paper proposes a machine learning approach to learn the HyChem models that can cover both high-temperature and low-temperature regimes. Specifically, we develop a HyChem model using the experimental datasets of ignition delay times covering a wide range of temperatures and equivalence ratios. The chemical kinetic model is treated as a neural network model, and we then employ stochastic gradient descent (SGD), a technique that was developed for deep learning, for the training. We demonstrate the approach in learning the HyChem model for F-24, which is a Jet-A derived fuel, and compare the results with previous work employing genetic algorithms. The results show that the SGD approach can achieve comparable model performance with genetic algorithms but the computational cost is reduced by 1000 times. In addition, with regularization in SGD, the SGD approach changes the kinetic parameters from their original values much less than genetic algorithm and is thus more likely to retrain mechanistic meanings. Finally, our approach is built upon open-source packages and can be applied to the development and optimization of chemical kinetic models for internal combustion engine simulations.

Abstract:Fuel moisture content (FMC) is a critical parameter in fire and plume behaviors, showing diurnal and spatial variations influenced by local meteorological conditions, soil characteristics, and fuel properties. In low-intensity fires, small-scale FMC variations intensify, leading to an amplification of their effects on fire physics. In an effort to capture these variations, this paper presents the development of a physics-based model that couples a thermodynamic-based FMC prediction model for dead fuels with the Fire Dynamics Simulator of the National Institute of Standards and Technology. The model accuracy is validated against several existing experimental data, showing improvements over the baseline model which uses the kinetic-based Arrhenius drying approach. A case study of flame propagation in a small fuel bed is also presented, indicating the improved performance of the new model and its novel capabilities in capturing complex processes of fuel drying and moisture flux exchanges between the fuel and ambient atmosphere.
