Abstract:Objective: To investigate the clinical effect of concentrated growth factors (CGF) combined with deproteinized bovine bone mineral (DBBM) on Alveolar ridge preservation during implantology. Methods: A total of 38 patients were selected and randomly divided into 2 groups, with 19 cases in each group. The extraction sockets were filled with DBBM with or without CGF. Visual analogue scale (VAS) pain score was recorded within1 week and Landry wound healing index (LWHI) was recorded at 1, 2 and 3 weeks after operation. CBCT was taken preoperatively and 3 and 6 months postoperatively to measure and compare the changes of vertical height, width and gray value of alveolar bone at extraction site. The changes of alveolar bone contour were observed clinically and compared between the two groups. Results: The VAS score of CGF group was lower than control group on the 1st and 3rd day after operation (P < 0.05). The LWHI of CGF group was higher than control group 1 week after operation (P < 0.05). The absorption of the labial and palatal plates height and the width in the CGF group was significantly less than the control group at 3 months (P < 0.05). The gray value of alveolar bone in CGF group was significantly higher than control group at 3 months (P < 0.05). There was no significant difference in new bone contour between the two groups (P > 0.05). 94.7% cases in CGF group did not undergo bone grafting, which was significantly higher than control group (78.9%). Conclusions: The use of CGF combined with DBBM can help to reduce postoperative pain at the early stage of healing, form sufficient keratinized gingival tissue, effectively maintain the height and width of alveolar bone in the three-dimensional direction and provide good conditions for implant repair in the future.
Combined application of artificial bone powders and concentrated growth factor membranes on the autotransplantation of mature third molars: A 5‐year retrospective case series

Abstract:Aim This study aimed to observe the efficacy and outcomes of the combined application of artificial bone powder and concentrated growth factor (CGF) membranes for tooth transplantation in cases with wide recipient sockets and small donor teeth. Material and Methods A total of 36 teeth from 36 patients with wide recipient sockets and small donor teeth were enrolled. Autogenous tooth transplantation was performed using bone powders and CGF membranes. After transplantation, the visual analog scale (VAS) score, Landry Wound Healing Index, probing depth (PD), mobility, and gray value of the alveolar bone around the transplanted teeth were measured, and a patient satisfaction questionnaire was administered. All patients underwent clinical and radiographic examinations during follow‐up. Results The VAS score of 16 (44.4%) cases after 1 week was 0, and 26 (72.2%) patients showed excellent gingival healing after 2–4 weeks. The PD of a few cases was deeper than 3 mm during the first month; however, returned to normal after 3 months. Although the majority of the transplanted teeth possessed mobility greater than grade I during the first month, the mobility gradually improved within 3 months. The gray value of the alveolar bone around the transplanted teeth, 1 year postoperatively showed no difference with pre‐operation (p > .05). During the mean follow‐up period of 42.7 months (range 20–72 months), 33 of the 36 transplanted teeth remained in situ without clinical or radiographic complications, with an overall success rate of 91.7%. Conclusions Although the PD and mobility of the transplanted teeth were not ideal during the early stages of healing, most of the transplanted teeth had good clinical outcomes. In cases with large recipient sites accompanied by small donor teeth, autotransplantation of teeth using artificial bone powder combined with CGF membranes is a viable option and can lead to optimistic results with favorable success rates.

Abstract:Periapical periodontitis can cause damage to both the tooth and the periodontium, thereby affecting the life quality of patients. Traditional periapical surgery takes a long time to heal, and postoperative pain and swelling are obvious. Seeking a good treatment strategy for faster and better healing of periapical periodontitis is an urgent issue that needs to be addressed. Concentrated growth factor (CGF) is considered an ideal biomaterial for retaining abundant and denser growth factors in accelerating bone formation. To investigate the effect of CGF on healing of apicomarginal defects, this prospective study aims to enroll 72 patients with periapical periodontitis in their anterior teeth or premolars who have undergone comprehensive root canal treatment. The patients will be randomly allocated into the following four groups: control group, which will receive apical surgery alone (including apicoectomy, inflammation debridement, and retrofilling of the root apex); bone group, which will undergo apical surgery in conjunction with the use of bone substitute; CGF group, which will undergo apical surgery in conjunction with the use of CGF; and CGF+bone group, which will undergo apical surgery in conjunction with the use of bone substitute and CGF gel. Each group will comprise 18 patients, and all surgeries will be conducted by the same proficient surgeon. The participants will undergo a 1-year follow-up with the assistance of a physician, including questionnaire data and daily records of pain and swelling at 2, 6, and 12 h and 7 days after the surgery. Cone-beam computed tomography images will be taken before the surgery, immediately after the surgery, and at 3, 6, and 12 months after the surgery. This study aims to explore the therapeutic effect of CGF on apicomarginal defects, in order to help clinical doctors find better treatment methods.

Abstract:OBJECTIVE Tissues loss due to periodontal disease is typically treated by a variety of regenerative treatment modalities, including bone grafts, guided tissue regeneration (GTR) and growth factors, to reform the supporting tissues of teeth. Concentrated growth factors (CGF) are produced by centrifuging blood samples at alternating and controlled speeds using a special centrifuge. The purpose of this study was to evaluate whether GTR could improve the effect of CGF combined with bone graft in the treatment of classII furcations of mandibular molars. METHODS In the present study, thirty-five classII furcation involvements were included and randomly divided into two groups. The experimental group (n=17) accepted GTR combined with CGF and bone graft therapy, and the controlled group (n=18) accepted CGF combined with bone graft therapy. The clinical examinations and cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) were performed at baseline and 1 year post-surgery. Comparisons of clinical and CBCT data before and after operation between the experimental group and the control group were made. RESULTS The clinical and CBCT data of both groups were not statistically different at baseline (P>0.05). At the end of 1 year post-surgery, the clinical parameters of both groups were significantly improved (P<0.001). The probing depths of the experimental group were (4.81±1.95) mm and (3.56±1.94) mm, respectively, significantly higher than the changes of the control group (P<0.001). The vertical and horizontal attachment gains of the experimental group were (4.11±1.98) mm and (3.84±1.68) mm, respectively, significantly higher than the changes of the control group (P<0.001). At the end of 1 year post-surgery, the experimental group showed significantly higher bone gain at vertical and horizontal directions compared with those of the control group: (3.84±1.68) and (3.88±2.12) mm, respectively (P<0.001). CONCLUSION Within the limitation of the present study, GTR showed positive role in the effect of CGF combined with bone graft in the treatment of classII furcation involvements of mandibular molars.

Abstract:Background The development of platelet concentrated biomaterials has gained increasing awareness for regenerative medicine. With different protocol, derivatives such as advanced platelet-rich fibrin (A-PRF), injected platelet-rich fibrin, and concentrated growth factor (CGF) have been demonstrated effectively in preclinical and clinical studies. The aim of this study was to compare the level of growth factors releasing from A-PRF and CGF, and their clinical efficacy in the regenerative management of intrabony defects (IBDs). Methods Thirty-two blood samples were collected from eight healthy donors and assessed for platelet-derived growth factor-alpha beta, vascular endothelial growth factor, bone morphogenetic protein-2, and transforming growth factor-beta 1 release at indicated times. In addition, the clinical records of 45 patients (15 per group) who had undergone guided tissue regeneration (GTR) with or without A-PRF/CGF were retrieved. The probing depth (PD) and clinical attachment level (CAL) were recorded preoperatively and 6 months postoperatively. Intrabony component (IC) depth, radiographic bone level (RBL), and bone defect filling were assessed radiographically. Results A-PRF had a looser fibrin network than the CGF but presented larger amounts of growth factors with a more sustained release period. Although there was no difference in PD reduction, CAL gain, RBL height change and defect filling (%) between A-PRF and CGF group, both achieved a more favorable clinical result in IC height reduction and defect filling (%) than the control. Conclusions A-PRF and CGF have the ability to stimulate a continual and steady release of total growth factors over a 14-day period. A-PRF and CGF show a similar effectiveness in periodontal bone regeneration with a potential benefit of improving GTR outcomes in IBD treatment.
[Effect of Concentrated Growth Factors on the Treatment of Degree II Furcation Involvements of Mandibular Molars].

Abstract:OBJECTIVE:Concentrated growth factors (CGF), a new generation of platelet concentrate products, appears to have more abundant growth factors because of its special centrifugation process. However, there are few studies supporting this. This study was designed to evaluate the effect of CGFs in the treatment of II° furcations of mandibular molars. METHODS:In the present study, thirty-one II° furcation involvements in twenty mandiblular molars were included and randomly divided into two groups. The furcation involvements in the experimental group were treated with bone graft therapy combined with CGFs, and the furcation involvements in the control group were treated with bone graft therapy alone. The clinical examination and cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) were performed at baseline and 1 year post-surgery for the two groups. The changes of clinical and CBCT data at baseline and 1 year post-surgery were compared between the experimental group and the control group. RESULTS:At baseline, there were no significant differences between the two groups in the probing depth (PD), vertical clinical attachment loss (CAL-V) and horizontal clinical attachment loss (CAL-H): PD (7.36±2.32) mm (the experimental group) vs. (7.53±2.06) mm (the control group); CAL-V (8.69±1.65) mm (the experimental group) vs. (8.81±1.53) mm (the control group); CAL-H (5.24±2.01) mm (the experimental group) vs. (5.35±2.14) mm (the control group). At the end of 1 year post-surgery, the clinical parameters of both groups were significantly improved (P<0.001). For the experimental group, the average vertical attachment gain was (2.78±1.66) mm, and the vertical attachment loss was improved significantly compared with the baseline (P<0.001); the average horizontal attachment gain was (2.10±1.89) mm, and the horizontal attachment loss were improved significantly compared with the baseline (P<0.001). Furthermore, the improvement degree of the experimental group was significantly higher than that of the control group (P<0.001). At baseline, there were no statistical differences in the vertical bone loss (BL-V) or horizontal bone loss (BL-H) between the two groups (P>0.05): BL-V (5.08±2.17) mm (the experimental group) vs. (5.84±2.65) mm (the control group); BL-H (5.85±2.13) mm (the experimental group) vs. (6.01±2.27) mm (the control group). At 1 year post-surgery, both groups showed significant radiographic bone gain at vertical and horizontal directions compared with baseline (P<0.001). For the experimental group, the average vertical radiographic bone gain was (2.20±1.98) mm, the horizontal radiographic bone gain was (2.51±2.18) mm, the vertical and horizontal radiographic bone loss were both significantly reduced compared with the baseline (P<0.001). For the control group, the average vertical radiographic bone gain was (1.89±2.15) mm, the horizontal radiographic bone gain was (1.30±2.47) mm, the vertical and horizontal radiographic bone losses were both significantly reduced compared with the baseline (P<0.001). And the experimental group showed significantly higher bone gain at vertical and horizontal directions compared with the control group (P<0.001). CONCLUSION:Within the limitation of the present study, CGFs showed positive role in the treatment of II° furcation involvements of mandibular molars.

Abstract:The role of glucose transport modulation in adjusting myocardial energy supply to changing contractile and metabolic activity and to hormonal influences was studied. Because membrane transport is a rate-limiting step in glucose utilization, many physiological and pharmacological influences act at this step. These include muscular contraction, insulin, adrenaline, inotropic interventions. Na+ pump activity alterations, some heavy metal ions, and other Ca2+ antagonists. All these agents affect the sarcolemmal fluxes and/or the intracellular distribution of Ca2+, and the evidence is consistent with their effects on sugar transport being linked to their ability to alter the availability of cytoplasmic Ca2+. This is the basis for the hypothesis that sugar transport in muscle is regulated by Ca2+ binding to specific regulatory sites. Two positive controls, through contraction and insulin, and two negative feedbacks from mitochondrial oxidation and activity of the Na+ pump are identified.
Effect of Autologous Concentrated Growth Factor Fibrin Solution Combined with Bio-Oss Bone Powder on Mucosal Healing and Bone Regeneration after Oral Implanted Guided Bone Regeneration

Abstract:PURPOSE:To investigate the effect of autologous concentrated growth factor fibrin solution combined with Bio-Oss bone powder on mucosal healing and bone regeneration after oral implanted guided bone regeneration.METHODS:From October 2016 to December 2018, 83 patients with maxillary single anterior tooth loss and labial bone defect were treated, they were divided into two groups. Patients in the experimental group (42 cases) received autologous concentrated growth factor fibrin solution + Bio-Oss bone powder, while patients in the control group (41 cases) received Bio-Oss bone powder alone. The degree of mucosal healing, implant success, bone defect regeneration, pain and other complications were followed up 7 days, 6 weeks and 1 year after operation. The success rate and complications of the two groups were observed, as well as the differences of mucosal color, swelling degree, bleeding index, depth of probing, attachment loss, height of bone graft and thickness of bone formation were measured and recorded. Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS 25.0 software package.RESULTS:There was no significant difference in the success rate of implants between the two groups (95.24% vs 97.56%, P>0.05). The complication rate of the experimental group was significantly lower than that of the control group (2.38% vs 14.63%, P<0.05). The mucosal color and swelling degree scores of the experimental group were significantly lower than those of the control group [(0.65±0.03) points vs (2.01±0.15) points, (1.10±0.37) points vs (2.69±0.54) points, P<0.05], and the bleeding index, probing depth, and attachment loss were significantly lower than the control group [(0.35±0.05) vs (0.49±0.09), (3.39±0.62) mm vs (4.41±0.95) mm, (3.02±0.66) mm vs (5.31±0.91) mm, P<0.05], bone graft height and osteogenesis height were significantly higher than the control group [(2.61±0.50) mm vs (2.20±0.31) mm, (2.53±0.34) mm vs (2.02±0.27) mm, P<0.05]. The degree of postoperative pain in the experimental group was significantly lower than that in the control group(P<0.05).CONCLUSIONS:Rich self-concentrating growth factor fibrin solution combined with Bio-Oss bone powder can effectively promote mucosal healing and bone regeneration after oral implant-guided bone regeneration, and reduce postoperative pain and complications.
A novel concentrated growth factor (CGF) and bio-oss based strategy for second molar protection after impacted mandibular third molar extraction: a randomized controlled clinical study

Abstract:Abstract Background The extraction of impacted mandibular third molars might cause large bone defects in the distal area of second molars. A new strategy was innovatively employed here combining autologous bone, Bio-Oss, concentrated growth factors (CGF) gel and CGF membrane for bone repair, and the present study aimed at exploring safety as well as short- and long-term efficacy of this new protocol clinically. Materials and methods A total of 66 participants were enrolled in this randomized single-blind clinical trial, and randomly allocated to control group (only blood clots), test A group (autogenous bone, Bio-Oss with barrier membrane) and test B group (autogenous bone, Bio-Oss, CGF gel with CGF membrane). The postoperative outcomes including PoSSe scale, periodontal probing depth (PD), degree of gingival recession and computed tomography measurements were assessed at 3rd, 6th, 12th month. A p-value < 0.05 was considered statistically significant. Results In PoSSe scale, no significant difference was observed except a significant alleviation of early-stage pain perception in test B group (p < 0.05). Also, test B group exhibited better effect on periodontal healing and gingival recession reduction after 6 months (p < 0.05). Both two test groups showed more new bone formation than the control group (p < 0.05). It is noteworthy that the bone repair of test B group was significantly better than that of test A at 3rd and 6th month (p 0.05). Conclusion Both two test groups could achieve stable long-term efficacy on bone defect repair. The use of CGF gel and CGF membrane could accelerate early-stage bone repair, alleviate short-term pain after surgery, reduce long-term probing depth and relieve economic cost for patients. This new bone repair protocol is worthy of promoting by clinicians. Trial registration This study was registered with the identification number ChiCTR2300068466 on 20/02/2023 at Chinese Clinical Trial Registry. Also, it was ethically approved from the institutional ethics committee at the Tongren Hospital, Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, Shanghai, China (No:2023-010-01), and has been conducted in accordance to the guidelines of the declaration of Helsinki. Written informed consent was obtained from all participants in the study.

Abstract:Introduction: Concentrated growth factor (CGF) is a new-generation autologous platelet concentrate that promotes tissue regeneration and has anti-inflammatory properties. This randomized multicenter trial aimed to evaluate the effects of CGF on bone healing in combination with root-end microsurgery. Methods: Healthy adult patients indicated for root-end microsurgery were randomly assigned to either the CGF or control (no CGF implantation) groups. CGF was implanted into the bone cavity after root-end filling with mineral trioxide aggregate. Clinical and periapical radiographic evaluations were conducted at 1, 3, 6, and 12 months postoperatively, with follow-up cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) at 6 months. The lesion volume reduction rate was calculated based on data from the preoperative and follow-up CBCT images. Results: A total of 24 patients were enrolled. The treatment success rate was 91.7% and 83.3% on 12-month periapical radiography and 6-month CBCT, respectively, without a significant difference between the two groups. The lesion volume reduction rate in the CGF group (75.6%) was significantly higher than that in the control (61.0%) group. Conclusions: Autologous CGF in conjunction with root-end microsurgery accelerated lesion reduction as observed on CBCT. Administering autologous blood products to stimulate healing in addition to removing the source of infection appears to be a promising treatment option for root-end microsurgery.
Efficacy and Safety of Concentrated Growth Factor Fibrin on the Extraction of Mandibular Third Molars: A Prospective, Randomized, Double-Blind Controlled Clinical Study

Abstract:Purpose: To investigate the efficacy and safety of concentrated growth factor fibrin (CGF) for the extraction of mandibular third molars. Patients and methods: This was a randomized, double-blind, and controlled clinical study. Patients who underwent mandibular impacted tooth extraction were randomly divided into 2 groups. In the CGF group, the tooth extraction fossa was utilized to place CGF gel. In the control group, the fossa was filled with serum. The visual analogue scale (VAS), reductions in swelling and trismus, incidence of postoperative dry socket, distal periodontal depth and bone regeneration of the second molar, and bone density (BMD) of the extraction fossa at 24 weeks were evaluated. Results: One hundred eighteen patients were enrolled in this study. There was no significant difference in baseline clinical characteristics between the 2 groups. The pain score of the CGF group was significantly lower than that of the control group at 2, 24, and 48 hours after operation. There was no significant difference in the reduction in swelling or trismus between the 2 groups. There were no cases of dry socket in the CGF group and 3 cases of dry socket in the control group. The periodontal probing depth and bone regeneration of the second molar when the socket was implanted with CGF were better than those that healed naturally (P < .05). The bone mineral density of each group was significantly increased at 24 weeks but was significantly different between groups (P < .05). Conclusion: CGF can effectively reduce reactive tooth extraction pain and help avoid dry sockets. It can promote periodontal tissue and bone healing in distal and extracted sockets.

Abstract:In this study, we investigate the combined application of concentrated growth factor (CGF) and Bio-Oss (BO) for the treatment of periodontal bone defect (BD) after extraction of impacted wisdom teeth. Firstly, we assess the osteogenic properties of CGF in periodontal ligament stem cells (PDLSCs). The concentration-dependent effect of CGF on enhancing the activity of PDLSCs has been demonstrated. Furthermore, CGF effectively promotes differentiation and enhances the osteogenic function of PDLSCs, leading to improved expression of related osteogenic proteins. Subsequently, a total of 64 patients with loss of alveolar bone in the second molar, who received treatment at our hospital between July 2020 and July 2023, are included. They are randomly divided into a BO group (treated with BO) and a CGF/BO group (treated with CGF+BO). We observe that the combined application of CGF and BO demonstrated superior efficacy in alleviating pain, reducing swelling, and preventing dry socket incidence. In addition, it exhibited enhanced effectiveness in restoring periodontal tissue, including reducing probing depth, gingival depth, and clinical attachment loss. It also displayed better inhibition of gingival inflammatory response and gingival bleeding. Furthermore, it could enhance the restoration of periodontal BD, such as increasing the width of the alveolar bone and root depth, reducing the vertical distance from the apex of the alveolar ridge, as well as improving dental function. Therefore, the combined application of CGF and BO holds great potential in periodontal BD therapy for promoting the regeneration of periodontal bone, thus restoring dental function.

Abstract:There have been several reports in the literature, mainly anecdotal, of amnesic patients demonstrating an ability to learn and remember song. Yet there has been little systematic investigation of this phenomenon. In this paper we report findings from three experiments investigating memory for song in two amnesic patients, Joan and Nellie. In the first study we explored recognition memory for various elements of song (i.e. lyrics, melody, lyrics and melody combined) and found that amnesic patients were better than chance at distinguishing studied from novel materials when given explicit instructions. In experiment 2, the ability to generate lyrics and melody was explored in one patient. Although this patient could only generate melodies, her performance in this modality was equivalent to that of matched controls. Memory for the semantic content of song was investigated in a final study using explicit testing conditions. The results showed that both patients were significantly better than chance at identifying correct responses, indicating that they acquired and retained knowledge of the general content of studied songs. These findings not only highlight the special nature of song in facilitating memory in amnesic patients, but given the level of accuracy in memory performance observed, suggest an alternative direction in rehabilitation.
Concentrated Growth Factor - Surgical Management of Large Periapical Lesion Using a Novel Platelet Concentrate in Combination with Bone Graft

Abstract:Although endodontic therapy is typically successful, in approximately 10%-15% of the cases, symptoms can persist or reoccur. Periapical surgery is the preferred treatment of choice in failed root canal therapy, chronic periapical lesion, persistent apical periodontitis, etc., i.e., when conventional treatment modalities fail. Over the past few decades, although the list of indications for endodontic surgery has diminished, there exist definite cases in which the tooth cannot be retained without surgery. This case report, however, sheds light on the incorporation of a novel autologous platelet concentrate-concentrated growth factor (CGF) coupled with an osseograft in surgical endodontic procedure to ensure a swift and successful recovery of the periapical region subjected to extensive lesions. The use of an osseograft combined with CGF has numerous advantages as well due to the formation of sticky bone. There are no articles published in the literature with respect to the potent application of CGF and bone graft (sticky bone) in large periapical lesions to aid in the reparative process. In this case report, the 1-year follow-up radiographs and cone-beam computed tomography showed complete healing of the hard and soft-tissue lesions that conform to achieving repair and regeneration at a rapid rate in extensive periapical lesions.
Efficacy of concentrated growth factor versus collagen membrane in reconstructive surgical therapy of peri-implantitis: 3-year results of a randomized clinical trial

Abstract:Objectives: To compare the 3-year clinical and radiographic outcomes of two different reconstructive surgical management of peri-implantitis using a bone substitute in combination with either concentrated growth factor (CGF) or collagen membrane (CM). Material and methods: Fifty-one patients who had at least one implant presenting peri-implantitis with an intrabony defect were filled with a xenogenic bone grafting material and covered either CGF or CM. Clinical and radiographic assessments were carried out at baseline and postoperative years 1 and 3. Three different composite outcomes were defined to evaluate treatment success at a 3-year follow-up. The effects of possible prognostic indicators on treatment success were identified by using multilevel regression analysis. Results: The changes in probing depth (PD) and radiographic vertical defect depth (VDD) between baseline and year 1 and baseline and year 3 presented significantly greater decreases for the CM group in comparison with the CGF group (p < 0.05). No significant differences between the two treatment modalities were demonstrated regarding treatment success outcomes. History of periodontitis, VDD at baseline, and the number of intrabony defect walls revealed significant impacts on treatment success (p = 0.033; OR = 3.50, p = 0.039; OR = 0.975, and p = 0.024; OR = 7.0 and p = 0.019;OR = 6.0, respectively). Conclusions: CM in combination with a bone substitute seems to have slightly better outcomes compared to the CGF membranes in reconstructive surgical therapy of peri-implantitis. The history of periodontitis, baseline VDD, and peri-implant bone defect configuration could be possible predictors influencing treatment success. Trial registration: ClinicalTrials.gov NCT04769609. Clinical relevance: For the reconstruction of peri-implant bone defects, using a bone substitute in combination with a collagen membrane may show more favorable outcomes.

Abstract:Numerically significant clinical experience relative to the surgical treatment of arterial occlusive disease of the gastrointestinal tract has not been published. Attempted revascularization of the celiac and mesenteric arteries has been documented only by isolated case reports, and in these most of the operative procedures were performed under emergency situations for acute mesenteric thrombosis. 6,11-15 Even rough appraisal as to incidence of celiac and superior mesenteric arterial occlusive disease is difficult because until recently 2 essential factors for this have been lacking—namely, general awareness of the problem and application of techniques for confirming the diagnosis. Although the abdominal angina syndrome will probably never rival the clinical importance of such occlusive arterial lesions as those affecting the brain, heart, and legs, it most certainly will prove to be far more significant than presently considered. Abstract:Abstract To evaluate the clinical efficacy of concentrated growth factors (CGFs) combined with mineralized collagen (MC) in guided bone regeneration (GBR). A retrospective study involving 29 patients treated with GBR technique, which was performed either CGF and MC complexes or MC alone. Implants were inserted simultaneously and cone-beam computed tomography was taken immediately, at 3 and 6 months postoperation. Questionnaires were completed by all patients so as to evaluate the main symptoms and daily activities during the first week after surgery. The outcomes of the two groups were statistically compared. All implants healed uneventfully. Patients in both groups suffered from different levels of discomfort for the reason of swelling, pain and chewing impairment on 1–2 days. Meanwhile, swelling of the Trial group was weaker than the Control group. When compared with the Control group, pain levels in Trial group were more rapidly reduced and patients took fewer analgesics from Day 3. Furthermore, the reconstitution mean value of the graft was thicker at 3 and 6 months in Trial group. CGFs complex with MC were beneficial to relieve the clinical symptoms, promote the peri-implant bone regeneration and shorten the healing time.

Abstract:Background: The aim of this study was to evaluate the clinical outcome of autotransplantation of mature third molars to fresh molar extraction sockets using 3D replicas. Methods: Ten patients underwent teeth autotransplantation with or without GBR. We observed the mobility, percussion, radiography examination, the probing depth and the masticatory function of the transplanted teeth during 2 years following up, which were transplanted into fresh molar sockets by using 3D replicas, and GBR when it is necessary. Results: The average extra-oral time of donor tooth had been shortened to 1.65 min when used the 3D replica. Some probing depth of the transplanted tooth were deeper than 3 mm at 4 or 5 weeks temporarily. And one patient felt slight sensitive when chewing with soft food at 4 weeks, then disappeared. The clinical examination of the autotransplantation teeth during 1 year follow-up showed no sign of failure. Conclusions: The tooth autotransplantation using 3D replica with or without GBR is an effective method which can reduce the extra-oral time of the donor teeth and may result in less failure.
