Abstract:In the title compound, C14H16ClNO2, the cyclo-hexyl ring has a chair conformation. The dihedral angle between the benzene ring and the mean plane of the four planar C atoms of the cyclo-hexyl ring is 45.2 (3)°. The two carbonyl groups are trans to one another, with an O=C-C=O torsion angle of -137.1 (3)°. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked by N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds forming chains propagating along [001]. A region of disordered electron density, situated near the unit-cell corners, was treated using the SQUEEZE routine in PLATON [Spek (2009 ▶). Acta Cryst. D65, 148-155]. It gave a solvent-accessible void of ca 400 Å(3) for only 21 electrons. It is probably due to traces of the solvent of crystallization and was not taken into account during structure refinement.

Abstract:The preparation of the carborane acid chloride [1-(COCl)-CB11H11]- from the carboxylic acid [1-(COOH)-CB11H11]- is reported. This acid chloride exhibits remarkable inertness towards moisture and can be stored under ambient conditions for several months. Reaction with amines affords secondary and tertiary carborane amides [1-(CONR1R2)-CB11H11]- in moderate to high yields under mild conditions. Two of the amide products were characterized by X-ray crystallography in addition to spectroscopic analysis. Preliminary studies show that the amides can be reduced to the corresponding amines and that the acid chloride has the potential to serve as a starting material for carborane ester formation.

Abstract:This paper deals with the crystal structure of two new non-centrosymmetric hybrid compounds obtained from an aqueous solution by slow evaporation method and characterized by various techniques mainly single-crystal X-ray diffraction. In the atomic arrangement of 2-methylbenzylammonium chloride (1), the organic cations and the chloride anions are linked to each other via N–H…Cl hydrogen bonds; organic cations in zigzag distribution along b-axis in z = 0 and z = ½ are also close enough to enable a C–H…π interaction to occur. In 3-methylbenzylammonium chloride (2), the organic cations are linked together by C–H…π interactions and through N–H…Cl and C–H…Cl hydrogen bonds to form a two-dimensional network. To support experimental results, DFT calculations have been accomplished via the B3LYP method and 6-311++G(d,p) basis set on molecular geometry, vibrational, and electronic properties. The non-covalent interactions were studied quantitatively using the Hirshfeld surfaces (HS) associated with 2D fingerprint plots. The NLO properties have been also investigated by DFT and compared to the urea reference.

Density Functional Theory Studies on Structure, Spectra, and Electronic Properties of 3,7-Dinitrodibenzobromolium Cation and Chloride

Abstract:The structural and electronic properties of the 3,7-dinitrodibenzobromolium cation and chloride were studied using first-principle methods, based on the density functional theory (DFT). Different forms of exchange and correlation functions and basis sets were considered, and their suitability in studying such large molecules were assessed by comparing the calculated results with available X-ray diffraction data. The DFT results were also compared with those obtained previously using the Hartree-Fock (HF) method. The DFT methods improved on the calculated IR and Raman spectra, confirming the superiority of the DFT methods over the HF method in predicting harmonic frequencies, particularly for organic nitro compounds. The geometric parameters obtained using the hybrid DFT methods, such as B3LYP, B3P86, and B3PW91, are compatible with the results of the HF method. The structure of 3,7-dinitrodibenzobromolium chloride was optimized with and without symmetry constraints (such and C-s and C-2v) separately. The C-1 structure obtained from optimization without any symmetry constraints and the C-s structure were proven to be identical, using more-stringent convergence criteria in the structure optimization. Intrinsic reaction coordinate (IRC) calculation was performed, following the frequency calculation for the optimized C-2v structure. The results confirmed that the C-2v structure is the transition structure connecting the two energy minimum stuctures in C-s symmetry. A strong ionic bond is formed between the chloride anion and the 3,7-dinitrodibenzobromolium cation, with a Br-Cl bond length of 2.606 Angstrom. Further studies were conducted to obtain the electronic density, electrostatic potential, and charge distribution of the chloride and the cation in its planar form and with the rotation of the nitro group. The charge distribution of other halides are also investigated and discussed. Knowledge of the electron properties is useful for understanding the bonding and biological activities of this molecule.

Abstract:A new Schiff base compound of N′-[(2,6-dichlorophenyl)methylidene]-2-{[3-(trifluoro-methyl)phenyl] amino}benzohydrazide was synthesized and characterized through various spectroscopic techniques, including infrared, 1 H NMR, 13 C NMR spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction. Experimental results collected by XRD were compared with theoretical results obtained from Density functional theory method. Hirshfeld surface analysis was used to obtain three-dimension molecular surface and two-dimension fingerprint plots to illustrate the intermolecular bonding. Theoretical calculations provide valuable insights into both global and local chemical activity, as well as the properties of molecules and chemicals, including their nucleophilic and electrophilic nature. The DFT method at B3LYP/6-311++G( d , p ) basis set was employed to study the optimized structure and geometric parameters, as well as to explore the frontier molecular orbitals, global reactive parameters, Mullikan population analaysis, Natural bond orbital and molecular electrostatic potential characteristics which cannot be obtained by experimental methods. Additionally, electrophilicity based charge transfer study was carried out with DNA bases to determine the direction of charge transfer. Finally, an investigation was carried out using molecular docking analysis to examine the binding energies of the title compound with PDB ID: 2QDJ protein target. The analysis yielded significant insights into the possible interactions, offering valuable findings in the process.

Abstract:This work aims to investigate novel structures based on 2-methylbenzylamine cations [(C 8 H 12 N) 2 Co(SCN) 4 ] ( 1 ) and [(C 8 H 12 N)SCN] ( 2 ). The novel complexes were characterized and investigated by various techniques such as differential thermogravimetry analysis, FT-IR, UV-visible spectroscopy, impedance complex analysis, molecular modeling based on DFT calculations, and molecular docking as potent anti-inflammatory agents. Based on the reported results of these characterization tools, the desired complex phases were confirmed. These novel compounds were characterized by FTIR analysis, which supported the presence of surface ligand groups of thiocyanates, and UV-visible spectroscopy showed the optical transparencies of the titled compounds in addition to the confirmation of the electronic transition. Complex packing occurred through the N–H⋯S and N–H⋯N H-bond interactions, forming a ring in addition to CH-interactions, resulting in a 3-D network. Finally, molecular docking occurred for both complexes, which suggests that the complexes have anti-inflammatory potential.

Abstract:Dibenzo-18-crown-6 (DB18C6) is a single-crown ether that can act as a host for a guest ion. In an effort to illuminate the relationships among structure, dynamics, and thermodynamics of ligand binding in a simple model for understanding the affinity and specificity of ligand interactions, nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) experiments and density functional theory (DFT) were used to study the interaction of DB18C6 with ammonium ion. 1 H-NMR was used to follow the titration of DB18C6 with ammonium chloride in deuterated methanol, a solvent chosen for its amphipathic character. Ammonium ion binds strongly to DB18C6 with a dissociation equilibrium constant at least as low as ~ M. DFT calculations were used to identify optimized conformations of bound and free DB18C6 and to estimate its binding energy with ammonium ion in implicit solvent. An approach is described that accounts for geometry relaxation in addition to solvation correction and basis set superposition error; to our knowledge, this is the first such report that includes the energy difference from optimizing species geometry. The lowest-energy conformer of free DB18C6 in implicit methanol acquires an open, W-shaped structure that is also the lowest-energy conformer found for the DB18C6-ammonium ion complex. These results form a foundation for further studies of this system by molecular dynamics simulations.

The intermolecular Cl center dot center dot center dot Cl (3.581 angstrom) and S center dot center dot center dot S (3.282 angstrom) distances in the crystal structure of the title compound, C9H8ClN3S, are shorter than the sum of the van der Waals radii. Classical N - H center dot center dot center dot N and C - H center dot center dot center dot N hydrogen bonds also contribute to the stabilization of the crystal structure.

Abstract:Bayesian learning is applied on two class systems. Partitioning a big sample made up of many elements of two classes of indistinguishable objects, we indistinctly pursue from 2 to 5 training sets called hypotheses in the probability field, with a plausible rate of object from each hypothesis. Objects are taken one by one from the sample. The basic aim faced is to predict one type of objects in the following occasion in which an agent takes one of them from the original sample to test it. We obtain the graph of a posteriori probability for each hypothesis of one of the objects. A prediction that the following object is specifically one of them is acquired in one probability curve by means of training previously accomplished. This methodology is applied on manufacture of glass bottles of two classes: good or crash. The main interest is to predict which machine produced one detected crash bottle because bottles turn to be indistinguishable when they are reviewed. This is solved by fixing a priori probabilities and taking into account all possible probability distribution combinations in the classes.

Abstract:This paper presents a comprehensive exploration of the impact of monochlorine substitution on the solid-state phases of the classic binary adduct C6H6:C6F6. Crystal structures for all four phases of C6H6:C6F5Cl were determined using single-crystal X-ray diffraction, with complementary data from differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and variable-temperature powder X-ray diffraction (VT-PXRD). The study reveals that phases I and III would have been overlooked without the additional information provided by DSC and PXRD. Symmetry changes during the phase transitions, including the loss of 3-fold and mirror symmetry, are crucial for our understanding of the observed transformations. Comparisons with the prototype C6H6:C6F6, the methyl-substituted C6H5CH3:C6F6 and iodine-substituted analogue C6H6:(C6F5I)2 provide useful insights into the noncovalent interactions holding these cocrystals together. The experimental results herein may be useful for informing crystal structure prediction, especially in distinguishing between structures of similar energy.

Abstract:A [c2]daisy chain has been constructed from a heteroditopic monomer based on the benzo-21-crown-7/secondary ammonium salt recognition motif as shown by single crystal X-ray analysis. It has been further demonstrated that the complexation behavior of this heteroditopic monomer in solution can be controlled by changing the solution pH or adding/removing K(+).

Abstract:The [3 + 2] cycloaddition reactions (32CA) between N -benzyl fluoro nitrone and electron-deficient dipolarophiles alkynes have been studied using molecular electron density theory at the B3LYP-D3/6-31G(d) level. The findings indicate that. in these 32CA reactions. a one-step mechanism is in play with asynchronous transition states. The topological analyses of these transition states are consistent with the presence of non-covalent interactions at the bonding regions between atoms. The analysis of the energy profile in gas phase and in the presence of solvents indicates a preference for a specific site addition over the others. Parr functions were thus used to justify such regioselectivity. In addition, we show that solvents do not modify the regioselectivity achieved, but it increases the activation energies and reduces the exothermic nature of this 32CA reaction. The present findings are in agreement with the experimental results.

Abstract:The 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition reactions of the cationic 1,3-dipolarophiles of azocarbenium ion 1 with HCN in the gas phase were examined using the density functional theory, QCISD method (Quadratic configuration interaction using single and double substitutions) and CCSD(T) (Coupled cluster calculations with single and double excitations and a perturbative estimate of triple contributions calculations) calculations. The theoretical results revealed that the reaction takes place via an initial formation of a 1:1 complex of the two reactants, mainly driven by charge interaction, followed by an asynchronous concerted cyclization forming the 3H-[1,2,4]-triazolium ion 3, which undergo [1,2]-H shift to provide the 1H-[1,2,4]-triazolium ion 4. The effect of the solvent has been modeled by using the isodensity-surface polarizable continuum (IPCM) model and the calculation showed that the reaction in CH2Cl2 solution proceeds in a similar manner as in gas phase with only a slight derivation of activation barrier.
